:00:16. > :00:19.Harry Clarke - the driver of a bin lorry that crashed

:00:20. > :00:21.in Glasgow in December 2014, killing six people -

:00:22. > :00:23.has pleaded guilty to culpable and reckless driving less

:00:24. > :00:29.The crown accepted his plea saying that he either knew or ought to have

:00:30. > :00:32.known he was unfit to drive, and that he was at risk

:00:33. > :00:57.Harry Clarke pleaded guilty. He had a licence revoked by the DVLA after

:00:58. > :01:01.crashing the bin lorry was driving in December 20 14. George Square was

:01:02. > :01:07.full of Christmas shoppers when he was consciousness at the wheel. The

:01:08. > :01:10.glory there out of control. Six people were killed, 15 others

:01:11. > :01:15.injured. No charges were brought against Harry Clarke for this. The

:01:16. > :01:20.crown office maintained there was not enough evidence in law to

:01:21. > :01:25.prosecute him. During a fatal accident enquiry, it emerged he had

:01:26. > :01:30.fainted while driving a bus in 2010 and it heard he had repeatedly lied

:01:31. > :01:33.about his fitness to drive. Just nine months after the bin lorry

:01:34. > :01:46.crash, Harry Clarke was seen at the wheel of his Vauxhall Corsa. Please

:01:47. > :01:49.look old, Harry Clarke told him: Today, he admitted culpably and

:01:50. > :01:53.recklessly driving his car, even though he had suffered a loss of

:01:54. > :01:58.consciousness while driving twice in the previous five years and you'd

:01:59. > :02:00.have known he was an fit to drive. We will be sentenced next month and

:02:01. > :02:04.could potentially be jailed. For more than five months,

:02:05. > :02:06.Nicola Urquhart has been campaigning Twenty-three-year old Corrie McCaig,

:02:07. > :02:10.an RAF serviceman from Dunfermline, disappeared during a night out

:02:11. > :02:13.near his base in Bury St Edmunds. He was last seen

:02:14. > :02:15.going down an alley. His mobile was tracked and matched

:02:16. > :02:20.the route of a bin lorry working in the town and heading

:02:21. > :02:23.for a landfill site This weekend, it's hoped a search

:02:24. > :02:31.of that landfill site will begin. Nicola, a serving police woman

:02:32. > :02:43.in Scotland, has been Knowing that the police are about to

:02:44. > :02:47.start searching the landfill, which everybody knows how much we wanted

:02:48. > :02:52.that to be searched, and there is a good chance, I think, as to the

:02:53. > :02:56.police, that Corrie might be there. I dared believe the person who put

:02:57. > :03:00.him there will have come forward as they will have by now. If someone

:03:01. > :03:04.knows that someone is behaving strangely, have heard or seen

:03:05. > :03:09.things, we will find Corrie if he is in the landfill, so come forward now

:03:10. > :03:14.so that whoever has put him there does not get away with saying he has

:03:15. > :03:20.fallen in a game and it was an accident. Give us some more closure

:03:21. > :03:30.and not just in finding Corrie. Finding out how he got there and

:03:31. > :03:33.what happened to him. -- bin. We have saw you physically searching

:03:34. > :03:39.over the past few months, how have you found the strength to do that?

:03:40. > :03:50.That's when I end up not having the strength. It is... It is my son. I

:03:51. > :03:55.will do whatever it takes to get him home. If somebody isn't doing their

:03:56. > :04:00.job, if I think they could do something a little bit better, if I

:04:01. > :04:05.can do it myself, I will. If I can not, I will do what it takes to help

:04:06. > :04:10.them do this properly. That's all I ever wanted. A basic investigation.

:04:11. > :04:12.That has given me the strength to fight for something to try and get

:04:13. > :04:15.Corrie home. Tony Blair has said the context

:04:16. > :04:17.for the Scottish independence case is "much more credible"

:04:18. > :04:19.after the Brexit vote. The former Prime Minister insisted

:04:20. > :04:22.the case for Scotland staying in the UK is now stronger

:04:23. > :04:24.than in 2014. But he said the vote to leave the EU

:04:25. > :04:39.put what he called "the break-up There is the possibility of the

:04:40. > :04:43.break-up of the UK. Narrowly avoided by the result of the Scottish

:04:44. > :04:47.referendum, but now back on the table. This time with a context much

:04:48. > :04:50.more credible for the independence case.

:04:51. > :04:52.In response, the SNP said that if there is to be another

:04:53. > :04:55.independence vote then the context would be very different to 2014.

:04:56. > :04:57.The Scottish Conservatives maintained that there is no appetite

:04:58. > :05:08.What Brexit has shown is that within the UK, Scotland's voice is not

:05:09. > :05:14.listened to and does not appear to count for much. They are given for

:05:15. > :05:19.taking control, taking charge of our own future, society and place in the

:05:20. > :05:22.world becomes ever more strong. The case for Scottish independence was

:05:23. > :05:28.not credible in 2014 when the people rejected it and it is still not

:05:29. > :05:32.credible now. What anywhere may not know, given his time out of

:05:33. > :05:33.politics, is that only around one quarter of people in Scotland want a

:05:34. > :05:35.second referendum. The killer of a Clydebank schoolgirl

:05:36. > :05:37.has had his sentence reduced John Letham, who admitted

:05:38. > :05:44.stabbing Paige Doherty more than 140 times, will now

:05:45. > :05:47.serve a minimum term Our Home Affairs Correspondent,

:05:48. > :05:50.Reevel Alderson reports. It was in this shop,

:05:51. > :05:52.now under new management, that John Leathem ran a

:05:53. > :05:55.delicatessen and it was here Leathem was jailed at the High Court

:05:56. > :06:02.in Glasgow for life, with The sentence was

:06:03. > :06:07.imposed because of the brutality of the killing and also

:06:08. > :06:10.because he had attempted to dispose At the Appeal Court,

:06:11. > :06:15.his lawyers argued that he showed genuine remorse and had

:06:16. > :06:20.never been in trouble before. They also said he had left her body

:06:21. > :06:23.in a place where it could easily be It was contrasted to

:06:24. > :06:43.another case in Glasgow. A case that a body has been

:06:44. > :06:50.attempted to be disposed of in an accident. -- acid bath.

:06:51. > :06:52.He had also been jailed for a minimum of 27 years

:06:53. > :06:55.and said that that case was different from that

:06:56. > :06:59.The judges agreed to reduce his minimum term to 23 years, but

:07:00. > :07:02.there is no guarantee he will get out after serving that length of

:07:03. > :07:05.That will be a matter for the parole board,

:07:06. > :07:07.who will base their decision on how safe the community

:07:08. > :07:09.will be once John Leathem is released.

:07:10. > :07:13.The girlfriend of a man who died in a house fire on New Year's Day

:07:14. > :07:15.has described him as "the love of my life".

:07:16. > :07:17.Cameron Logan, who died at the family home

:07:18. > :07:21.in Milngavie was laid to rest today at Clydebank Crematorium.

:07:22. > :07:30.His brother Blair Logan has been charged with his murder.

:07:31. > :07:37.Drivers on the M8 have been told to expect together in delay around eBay

:07:38. > :07:44.listing interchange. Contractors are working on a newly built section of

:07:45. > :07:47.the motorway. -- second. -- Ballieston.

:07:48. > :07:50.Rugby, and Edinburgh have lost their Pro 12 league match

:07:51. > :07:57.The final score was 20 points to 10.

:07:58. > :08:12.Yes, and looking very cold across most of the country. Saudi border,

:08:13. > :08:15.largely dried up fairly cloudy. Certainly for tomorrow morning, it

:08:16. > :08:21.will get off to a rather soggy start for central and western areas, Biggs

:08:22. > :08:25.of rain. The filly GR, whether getting patchy. Staying dry along

:08:26. > :08:30.the north Aberdeen child goes. That drain trundles eastwards and intend

:08:31. > :08:35.to fill out. The afternoon is an improving picture. Across the UK,

:09:06. > :09:11.few heavy showers in the next as well. With a fairly brisk, Southwest

:09:12. > :09:15.breeze. Into this time tomorrow night and the rain in the north

:09:16. > :09:20.stars, turning wet. If you're out on the town. Looking towards Sunday,

:09:21. > :09:24.that weather cleared towards the south of us and reasonably drive.

:09:25. > :09:27.There is another weather front waiting in the wings but, for many

:09:28. > :09:34.on Sunday, a dry, cloudy day. Reasonably bright but the building

:09:35. > :09:37.through the course of the day. Any son, maybe 14 Celsius possible.

:09:38. > :09:42.There is the next batch of rain heading into the West Coast. Looking

:09:43. > :09:48.to Monday, importing some subtropical air from the resource,

:09:49. > :09:55.that means 16 Celsius is possible but it will be fairly cloudy and
