:00:00. > :00:17.An offshore worker has called for action after he and colleagues

:00:18. > :00:20.were exposed to radiation on a North Sea platform.

:00:21. > :00:23.Rigging supervisor Steve Innes says he's struggled to find work

:00:24. > :00:28.since raising concerns - and now faces cancer fears

:00:29. > :00:35.The operator of the Thistle platform, EnQuest, says it's put

:00:36. > :00:37.in place additional precautionary steps since the incident

:00:38. > :00:52.Steve Innes has worked offshore for nearly 30 years. But the 54-year-old

:00:53. > :00:56.from Sunderland has spent the last four months at home. He and five

:00:57. > :01:01.colleagues were working on at the Thistle platform when they were

:01:02. > :01:11.exposed to alpha radiation. We only realised two thirds of the way

:01:12. > :01:16.through the trip. You can only do your job well if they prepare you

:01:17. > :01:19.for it first. Their procedures have broken down. They didn't prepare us

:01:20. > :01:29.well for it. In fact, they got it totally wrong. The Thistle is

:01:30. > :01:34.operated by EnQuest. Steve hasn't worked since leaving in December,

:01:35. > :01:40.and fears he is being shunned for speaking out. The Unite union says

:01:41. > :01:43.they have no evidence that prevents workers from reporting such

:01:44. > :01:47.incidents. It does happen, we know it happens. An incident like this, I

:01:48. > :01:51.don't know if the investigation is ongoing. If its ongoing, it's

:01:52. > :01:56.unlikely that we will want people back while the investigation is

:01:57. > :02:00.ongoing. How are the men now? Worried. They're worried for the

:02:01. > :02:05.future, worried for the help. They have not had any support to help

:02:06. > :02:07.them through that. They've got a very uncertain future ahead. One

:02:08. > :02:11.thing is certain - Steve and his very uncertain future ahead. One

:02:12. > :02:16.former colleagues now face test every six months for the rest of

:02:17. > :02:19.their lives. Exposure to alpha radiation could have no impact at

:02:20. > :02:27.all on their health, but possible effects can be severe - including

:02:28. > :02:31.cancer. Some of the guys can't go to work, they're on medication, not

:02:32. > :02:35.sleeping, worried. He has been sent for whatever test and is waiting for

:02:36. > :02:41.results to come back, like we all are. We're just hoping that

:02:42. > :02:45.somebody. Forward and take a hold of the situation and start doing the

:02:46. > :02:50.right thing. -- hoping that somebody will step forward. Rather than

:02:51. > :02:53.keeping it under the table. Wood group which implied the contract to

:02:54. > :02:57.say the health and safety of their workforces always their top

:02:58. > :03:01.priority. EnQuest which operated the platform says the level of radiation

:03:02. > :03:05.the men was exposed to was less than 1% of the level that would have

:03:06. > :03:11.meant they needed to report it to the Health and Safety Executive. The

:03:12. > :03:14.HSE were, however, informed at the time. It should be said that

:03:15. > :03:18.although we are told the level of radiation was low, these workers are

:03:19. > :03:21.now facing a lifetime of blood tests and uncertainty, and say they should

:03:22. > :03:23.never have been put in the position in the first place.

:03:24. > :03:25.A former youth football scout has been arrested by police

:03:26. > :03:27.investigating allegations of historical sex abuse.

:03:28. > :03:29.Harry Dunn worked for Rangers, and also Chelsea and Liverpool.

:03:30. > :03:40.Our Home Affairs Correspondent, Reevel Alderson reports.

:03:41. > :03:46.This arrest follows the announcement last year that police Scotland was

:03:47. > :03:49.amongst almost 20 forces across the UK which have launched

:03:50. > :03:53.investigations into allegations of child abuse within football. Harry

:03:54. > :03:58.Dunn worked with the Rangers youth side in the 1980s. In a statement,

:03:59. > :04:02.police didn't name him, saving only an 84-year-old man has been arrested

:04:03. > :04:09.and charged with a number of non-race and sexual offences, and a

:04:10. > :04:13.report will be submitted. Earlier this year, Jim McCafferty, former

:04:14. > :04:21.kits Mannan coach at Hibs, Celtic and Falk, who is now 70, was

:04:22. > :04:24.remanded in custody in Northern Ireland charged with sexual activity

:04:25. > :04:28.with a boy under 16. You will be tried later this year. The Scottish

:04:29. > :04:32.football Association has launched an investigation following reports in

:04:33. > :04:42.high-profile players of abuse within the game which were acted upon at

:04:43. > :04:45.the time. They include allegations against John Hart, Partick Thistle's

:04:46. > :04:52.trainer, who is not theirs. Police Scotland are investigating over 130

:04:53. > :04:57.allegations after a hotline was the bluster.

:04:58. > :05:02.Well, in case it had passed your attention,

:05:03. > :05:05.Funds raised from people doing something funny for money last time

:05:06. > :05:07.have been distributed around the world, including to

:05:08. > :05:11.Earlier today Aileen Clarke went along to see one of them in Glasgow.

:05:12. > :05:15.From Shieldaig to Springburn, Libby McArthur was much loved

:05:16. > :05:25.# What is the use and sharing this one and only life? #

:05:26. > :05:28.She's sharing not just drama skills but life skills with these boys,

:05:29. > :05:32.It's a chance not to sweat the small stuff.

:05:33. > :05:36.It's a chance to find a place where you can be yourself.

:05:37. > :05:57.Special guest today is Jane, who plays Eisa in Still Game.

:05:58. > :06:01.I've got a nice overcoat you could use if the weather is bad.

:06:02. > :06:04.The sessions with the boys here are free - and look good fun.

:06:05. > :06:06.Behind it lies the aim of making these youngsters more confident,

:06:07. > :06:10.and I hope is they will then become involved in the mainstream drama

:06:11. > :06:17.-- and the hope is they will then become involved.

:06:18. > :06:20.Most actors I know are really shy and were really shy as kids.

:06:21. > :06:23.The reason why you want to get into acting is because you want

:06:24. > :06:27.I love putting a wig and glasses on, and I can immerse myself

:06:28. > :06:31.These 12-year-olds are nearing the end of the ten weekly

:06:32. > :06:36.Comic Relief has given ?100,000 over three years to fund the workshops.

:06:37. > :06:39.A variety of a group of youngsters are taking part.

:06:40. > :06:42.They would all benefit from the intense support

:06:43. > :07:04.It has helped me to improve to do a lot of things.

:07:05. > :07:07.Basically, you think you're in a box and there is no escape.

:07:08. > :07:10.When you come to speak, you get rid of the box.

:07:11. > :07:22.It makes me happy coming here and seeing my friends.

:07:23. > :07:25.The boys here are certainly very grateful for the money this project

:07:26. > :07:42.An elderly sheepdog has been rescued from a gorge in the Highlands

:07:43. > :07:46.Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team were alerted by someone

:07:47. > :07:48.on a train, who spotted Nell yesterday near Roybridge.

:07:49. > :07:51.Rescuers used ropes to get into gorge and then coax

:07:52. > :07:53.the reluctant collie out - apparently none the

:07:54. > :08:06.Now a look at the weather for tonight and tomorrow.

:08:07. > :08:13.Thank you. Good evening to you. Some lovely pictures coming in of the

:08:14. > :08:18.sunset this evening from our Weather Watchers. Weather-wise tonight it's

:08:19. > :08:22.dry, cold with a touch of frost. This weekend high pressure is in

:08:23. > :08:25.charge. Try and settled for most with spells of sunshine. Around the

:08:26. > :08:30.northern flank of the high there will be some thicker cloud for the

:08:31. > :08:34.Northern Isles. A dry start for the vast majority tomorrow, with high

:08:35. > :08:38.cloud through the morning. The sunshine will be hazy at first, but

:08:39. > :08:43.we expect that to go and there will be more in the Ray of Sunshine for

:08:44. > :08:48.all of us. Across the far north, the thicker cloud holds on. Across the

:08:49. > :08:55.UK, dry, finance settled. Cooler around North Sea coast. Come inland

:08:56. > :09:00.and we are into the teens. We will have highs around 16 Celsius. By mid

:09:01. > :09:06.afternoon for most it's really quite pleasant. Cooler around the

:09:07. > :09:09.south-west coast, Ayrshire through Kintyre, Aaron, Argyll. It shouldn't

:09:10. > :09:19.spoil things too much with that breeze of the sea. The north-east

:09:20. > :09:23.might be 17 Celsius. Thicker cloud affecting Sutherland, in towards

:09:24. > :09:30.Lewis and Harris. The rest of the afternoon, dry, clear, cold. Also

:09:31. > :09:33.overnight, the clock changes, going forward an hour as we approach

:09:34. > :09:37.British summer. So that means an hour less in bed on Sunday morning,

:09:38. > :09:41.but on the upside, plenty of sunshine to help you get up and out

:09:42. > :09:47.and about, because Sunday is another cracker of a day. Plenty of sun, dry

:09:48. > :09:49.once again. The best of the warmest weather will be in the West and the

:09:50. > :09:59.north-west. Enjoy its! Batters Reporting Scotland. From

:10:00. > :10:00.everyone here, good night and enjoy your weekend. -- that is reporting
