:00:25. > :00:27.of the life of the 31-year-old from Kirkcaldy in Fife,

:00:28. > :00:39.This celebration in Edinburgh this afternoon when Gordon Aikman's

:00:40. > :00:47.husband Joe Pike reflected on what life would be like without Gordon.

:00:48. > :00:52.He made me a better person, a kinder person because even when dyeing,

:00:53. > :00:57.Gordon taught us so much about how to live. He was a real inspiration

:00:58. > :01:00.to work with, a real motivator. Leaders from across the bottle

:01:01. > :01:04.spectrum remembered Gordon Aikman and paid tribute to the contribution

:01:05. > :01:11.he made to Scotland after learning that he contracted motor neurone

:01:12. > :01:14.disease. Instead of feeling sorry for himself as he would have had

:01:15. > :01:18.every right to do, Gordon decided to fight back, not because it would

:01:19. > :01:19.change the outcome for him, but because he wanted to make life

:01:20. > :01:35.better for others. Earlier, there was a service at

:01:36. > :01:42.Warriston Crematorium in the capital, the coffin to give in to

:01:43. > :01:47.Bob Dylan. Gordon Aikman had been working on yet another speech the

:01:48. > :01:50.evening before he died, part of a campaign for MND patients which are

:01:51. > :01:55.so honoured in the Queen's Birthday Honours list in 2015 and awarded and

:01:56. > :02:06.only doctorate by the University of Edinburgh. Dyeing has taught me a

:02:07. > :02:11.lot about living, life can be short. Cherish those you care about most,

:02:12. > :02:21.many of whom are here with us today. Be true to yourself and live your

:02:22. > :02:23.own life, and, if you can, fight to make things that little bit better

:02:24. > :02:28.for those that follow. A murder inquiry has begun
