:00:13. > :00:13.of last week's terror attack in Westminster.

:00:19. > :00:28.The terror attack on Westminster shocked all of us.

:00:29. > :00:30.But the death of a serving police officer brought home

:00:31. > :00:38.It has raised the question on many officers' minds as to what they need

:00:39. > :00:44.to do not just to protect the public but themselves as well.

:00:45. > :00:46.Now there is expected to be an emergency debate on the subject

:00:47. > :00:53.I would be surprised if delegates did not bring forward a number

:00:54. > :00:55.of discussions given the events that took place in London

:00:56. > :00:59.and that could be questions about arming resources,

:01:00. > :01:03.that will feature in that discussion.

:01:04. > :01:09.I would be surprised if there is not a view expressed by many that more

:01:10. > :01:13.police officers should be armed as a consequence of these events.

:01:14. > :01:18.There is a broad church of opinion but all agree on one thing.

:01:19. > :01:22.Some have very polarised views on the subject, but ultimately,

:01:23. > :01:25.it comes down to the question that if the police service

:01:26. > :01:27.is expected to keep everyone else safe, who will keep

:01:28. > :01:34.Three years ago, armed officers were turning up at incidents

:01:35. > :01:42.But last year, because the terror threat was severe, the number

:01:43. > :01:46.of officers that could carry a gun was increased to 400.

:01:47. > :02:05.The Scottish Government told us it was a matter for Police Scotland.

:02:06. > :02:07.The authority to carry guns is reviewed quarterly

:02:08. > :02:13.It varies according to the level of threat that we face as a country.

:02:14. > :02:21.Football, and Scotland recorded a much-needed victory over

:02:22. > :02:26.It's a win that takes them to within two points of second place

:02:27. > :02:45.A half-full Hamden, the expectations of summer were higher than others.

:02:46. > :02:50.Scotland quickly sought to exceed most. Russell Martin setting the

:02:51. > :02:56.tone. Goals have been hard to come by for Scotland, familiar themes of

:02:57. > :03:01.mist chances and Bill Fortune began to rear their heads. Leigh Griffiths

:03:02. > :03:06.first international goal eluding him. James Morrison was also out of

:03:07. > :03:11.luck. As time ticked on the need for a goal grew ever more desperate but

:03:12. > :03:15.on the relocation Scotland had a sight of goal, decision and

:03:16. > :03:21.composure were lacking. That wasn't until the late introduction of Chris

:03:22. > :03:25.Martin. No sooner was he on than he breathed new life into Scotland's

:03:26. > :03:31.World Cup campaign. Elation for the home fans and quiet satisfaction for

:03:32. > :03:39.Gordon Strachan. Alisdair Lamont, Reporting Scotland.

:03:40. > :03:44.I'm quite calm now, quite calm during the game. You can get

:03:45. > :03:48.emotional when things are not going well with your team. But I cannot

:03:49. > :03:52.complain about that at any time, all you can ask as a manager is that

:03:53. > :03:55.they do certain things and they did everything they were asked to do.

:03:56. > :03:59.They push themselves to another level.

:04:00. > :04:03.We've had another lovely sunny day, but what's in store?

:04:04. > :04:07.Well, Mother Nature was very kind to us this weekend.

:04:08. > :04:09.A lot of dry weather, beautiful weather in fact,

:04:10. > :04:12.and today, as you can see from this UK-wide satellite

:04:13. > :04:16.Hardly a cloud in the sky earlier on, apart from Shetland,

:04:17. > :04:18.where a band of cloud lingered and it kept rather

:04:19. > :04:22.But elsewhere warm, the warmest day of the year so far, 20 Celsius

:04:23. > :04:26.It stays dry tonight, so a dry start tomorrow and it

:04:27. > :04:28.will be lovely first thing, but maybe quite chilly in some

:04:29. > :04:32.As we head through the day, the cloud across Shetland

:04:33. > :04:34.will thin and break at times to give some brightness.

:04:35. > :04:36.Cloud will start to increase across south-east Scotland.

:04:37. > :04:38.Quite cool towards eastern coastal areas tomorrow but come inland,

:04:39. > :04:40.around about 13 or 14 Celsius quite widely.

:04:41. > :04:43.17 degrees for more western parts of the country,

:04:44. > :04:46.so that's into the warm category, and as far as the rest

:04:47. > :04:49.of the day is concerned, it stays dry and then turning a bit

:04:50. > :04:51.more changeable through the course of the week.

:04:52. > :04:55.Our next update's at 6:25am tomorrow morning during BBC Breakfast.

:04:56. > :04:58.Until then, from everyone on the weekend team, enjoy the rest
