:00:23. > :00:25.the party's ruling body that they would not be selected.

:00:28. > :00:29.parties have been out campaigning across the country.

:00:30. > :00:40.This morning SNP members met to sort out their candidates for the UK

:00:41. > :00:47.election. After the party's success at the last Westminster election

:00:48. > :00:52.that was an easy job, mostly. All of the party's 54 sitting MPs were

:00:53. > :00:56.reselected with immediate effect, but Michelle Thompson and Natalie

:00:57. > :01:02.McGarry, elected SNP members in 2015, has been ditched by the party.

:01:03. > :01:05.Both politicians withdrew from the party amid separate investigations

:01:06. > :01:09.into their financial affairs. In a statement Mr Thompson said she was

:01:10. > :01:23.very disappointed with the decision. The Edinburgh West MP added:

:01:24. > :01:26.Miss McGarry, the number for Glasgow East, also insisted she has done

:01:27. > :01:40.nothing wrong. The SNP now needs to find five

:01:41. > :01:46.candidates here in Glasgow East and Edinburgh West and for the three

:01:47. > :01:51.seats the party did not win in 2015. That process is due to be completed

:01:52. > :01:57.by the end of the week. Scotland's other parties have set out similar

:01:58. > :01:59.timescales. Labour leader Kezia Dugdale has been eyeing up

:02:00. > :02:04.candidates, which me include former parliamentarians. The Conservatives

:02:05. > :02:08.made that up several current and recipes to stand at Westminster, and

:02:09. > :02:13.the Liberal Democrats say the selection process is well underway.

:02:14. > :02:16.In any case, it looks like the election campaign in Scotland will

:02:17. > :02:17.be fully up and running in the next week.

:02:18. > :02:21.A 33-year-old man is critical in hospital with a serious head
