:00:19. > :00:22.Hello and welcome to our look ahead to what the papers will be bringing

:00:23. > :00:30.us tomorrow. With me to do that is Eva Simpson and Emily Ashton. Good

:00:31. > :00:34.evening. We're going to be going through all the front pages, but

:00:35. > :00:39.let's have a quick sneak preview. There is the Observer. Leading with

:00:40. > :00:44.Vince Cable intervening in the debate on the controversial HS2

:00:45. > :00:50.high-speed rail line, calling for the North-South gap to be closed.

:00:51. > :00:53.Torment of hope if the headline on the Independent.

:00:54. > :00:56.The questions whether we are really any closer to finding out what

:00:57. > :01:01.happened with the missing Malaysia Airlines flight.

:01:02. > :01:10.The top story in the Sunday Times is also the hunt for flight MH370.

:01:11. > :01:16.The Mail on Sunday focuses on the pilot he was a supporter of a

:01:17. > :01:25.controversial Malaysians opposition leader. The Sunday Telegraph is lost

:01:26. > :01:30.plane, it has picture of the Towers in Kuala Lumpur next to the New York

:01:31. > :01:38.Twin Towers. The revelations today make a great

:01:39. > :01:42.headlines. The truth is, we have still got nowhere near to knowing

:01:43. > :01:46.exactly what happened. There is still a lot of speculation. At the

:01:47. > :01:51.today for the first time, there was something to go on, some concrete

:01:52. > :01:56.information coming out from the Malaysian authorities. But the Mail

:01:57. > :02:01.on Sunday, they have an interesting line, they claim the plane was

:02:02. > :02:06.hijacked by a pilot who was eight political fanatic. -- who was a

:02:07. > :02:10.political fanatic. They have gone into some detail. They have an

:02:11. > :02:16.amazing graphic insight, which is their version of what seems to have

:02:17. > :02:20.happened. We have interviewed one of his close friends who says anything

:02:21. > :02:25.like that would be totally out of character. Yes, he said if he had to

:02:26. > :02:32.choose any pilot to fly the plane, he would choose this man. So it is

:02:33. > :02:35.out of character. There is be the lots of theories around. The papers

:02:36. > :02:40.have gone for different angles because nobody really knows what has

:02:41. > :02:44.happened. The flight veered West, nobody knows why, it looks like

:02:45. > :02:50.somebody has taken control, but who is it? If it is somebody with the

:02:51. > :02:54.expertise, it looks like you would turn to the pilots first and say,

:02:55. > :02:59.why do you think they might want to do it? The bill on Sunday said one

:03:00. > :03:06.of them white -- might want to do it because he is a political fanatic.

:03:07. > :03:11.That lack the Mail on Sunday. -- the Mail on Sunday. Nobody Willie knows

:03:12. > :03:19.the truth. There is a new line which has emerged about how the plane

:03:20. > :03:24.ascended rapidly to 45,000 feet... The Mail on Sunday had phoned their

:03:25. > :03:29.graphics department! They say he did this in order to knock everyone out.

:03:30. > :03:35.You do not want to be on a jet that climbs to that height, then descends

:03:36. > :03:38.unevenly to 23,000 feet. We will be beating to experts later this

:03:39. > :03:45.evening, but my experience of flying at that height is, it is pretty high

:03:46. > :03:51.to go, you would be talking about a loss of pressure, a lack of oxygen,

:03:52. > :03:59.then falling to 23,000 feet, the GeForce would be very great. Sun

:04:00. > :04:03.violent changes in altitude might have been done to a struggle in the

:04:04. > :04:09.cockpit. -- violent changes in attitude -- altitude. There would be

:04:10. > :04:18.a loss of oxygen, a loss of pressure, and people lose

:04:19. > :04:24.consciousness. MH370 but it is fascinating to read. When we look at

:04:25. > :04:29.the area they are searching, it is a vast area. And the agony continues

:04:30. > :04:39.for the families. They must still have hope, possibly unreasonable

:04:40. > :04:42.hope. That is all you're left with. But that questions as to why

:04:43. > :04:51.Malaysian authorities have waited seven or eight days to come back

:04:52. > :04:58.with this. This Sunday Telegraph also agrees with this story. The

:04:59. > :05:12.headline is not one that anybody wants to read. Nobody would ever

:05:13. > :05:24.want to read that. That kind of organised terror plots. And Al-Qaeda

:05:25. > :05:29.supergrass has revealed in court that he was in touch with potential

:05:30. > :05:34.Malaysian men who were preparing to take control of a plane and use it

:05:35. > :05:39.as a bomb. There are no specifics of when this was meant to have

:05:40. > :05:47.happened. But a pattern is emerging of terrorism emerging from Malaysia.

:05:48. > :05:54.That is why they have the pictures of the Petronas Towers, as a

:05:55. > :06:14.possible target. Yes, it is one possible target. But this is another

:06:15. > :06:17.fairly. -- theory. But they are being told that there are so many

:06:18. > :06:25.securities, so difficult to get near the cockpit. But if the pilot is the

:06:26. > :06:35.one who is doing this, what can you do? You presume there are power

:06:36. > :06:47.checks on -- there are checks on pilots. But if somebody did use a

:06:48. > :06:52.bomb hidden in a shoe, there was no media call from the pilot. There is

:06:53. > :06:59.no suggestion that up passenger has gone in there takeover. Let's move

:07:00. > :07:08.onto some of other stories. In the Sunday Telegraph. David

:07:09. > :07:13.Cameron on Europe. He has written an article for the Daily Telegraph

:07:14. > :07:19.saying he will campaign for Britain to stay within the EU if Europe

:07:20. > :07:27.agrees to his terms. He says this a lot. There are European elections in

:07:28. > :07:32.May. People are fed up with the lack of action on Europe. They feel like

:07:33. > :07:41.Europe is dictating what Britain is doing and Cameron needs to take

:07:42. > :07:46.action. But rehashing arguments, people get bored with that. They see

:07:47. > :07:57.through that. It won't necessarily help them. Is it the EU that will

:07:58. > :08:02.become a central issue during the general election campaign, or the

:08:03. > :08:07.migration issue? Immigration is a massive issue for people who feel

:08:08. > :08:18.their jobs are being taken. This is a massive debating point. They

:08:19. > :08:25.possibly feel Nigel Farage understands them more, understand

:08:26. > :08:32.their anger. The worry for the Conservatives is that UKIP takes

:08:33. > :08:41.votes from them. We have at least a year to go, and they need to talk

:08:42. > :08:49.tough now. One of those seven targets is tighter immigration

:08:50. > :08:56.rules, new rules, less interference and more power flowing from Brussels

:08:57. > :09:03.to Britain. We have heard it all before. Our political team was going

:09:04. > :09:07.through it, but he saw nothing new there.

:09:08. > :09:17.Onto the times, and Ukraine is the other big story. Putin goes to the

:09:18. > :09:28.brink of war. Some of our crews have been filming military activity and

:09:29. > :09:32.Islands on the course of Crimea. It is really heating up. After the

:09:33. > :09:41.referendum vote tomorrow, you have the sense it could turn very nasty

:09:42. > :09:50.very quickly. I hear talking about military action? -- are you

:09:51. > :10:02.talking? More Russian troops are coming and, and in the Sunday Times

:10:03. > :10:13.piece, you have the Ukrainian acting president seeing the next step is to

:10:14. > :10:19.invade Ukraine its self. Presumably there isn't another tight for

:10:20. > :10:27.military intervention? -- an appetite. Now, but there is a

:10:28. > :10:35.feeling not enough is being done. We did a piece about the charge of the

:10:36. > :10:40.lightweight brigade, all the diplomatic measures so far would not

:10:41. > :10:47.do anything to remove Russian troops from the Ukraine. They will probably

:10:48. > :10:55.agree asset freezes and travel bans, but Putin and his officials will not

:10:56. > :10:59.be affected. Everything is very slow and Putin knows that and he is

:11:00. > :11:04.possibly taking advantage of the weakness of the rest at the moment.

:11:05. > :11:14.David Cameron is talking about easing the hunting ban. This is a

:11:15. > :11:19.peculiar one. I haven't heard this story being raised before. He is

:11:20. > :11:25.searching for MPs who will help them reintroduced fox hunting by the back

:11:26. > :11:30.door, something that will play well to rural communities. But there was

:11:31. > :11:35.such a few Rory last time when the ban came into force, to try and

:11:36. > :11:43.bring it back on again, it could be a vote loser for him. Fox hunting

:11:44. > :11:58.does continue in some shape or form. It doesn't really exist anyway.

:11:59. > :12:06.Farmers think... You have to think, how will this help in the run-up to

:12:07. > :12:16.the elections? Let's look at the Observer. Vince Cable demanding the

:12:17. > :12:21.high-speed rail link is thought through to ease the north-south

:12:22. > :12:30.split. It lot of jobs and investment and commuters at the line on this.

:12:31. > :12:40.There is a lot of debate about the way HS2 is being built. The first of

:12:41. > :12:47.these of it is only from London to Birmingham, and then years later, to

:12:48. > :12:52.Leeds. The think tanks has said, should it be but the other way

:12:53. > :12:57.around? Build it first in the North to get jobs at their, the

:12:58. > :13:03.infrastructure up there. It kind of looks as if London is getting

:13:04. > :13:11.everything. But why build it, is it for jobs or to improve links? And

:13:12. > :13:23.London is an international hub, people fly in from all over the

:13:24. > :13:26.world to London. A lot of people think sometimes, London to

:13:27. > :13:37.Birmingham, two hours on the train, an hour and a half, let's get it

:13:38. > :13:44.down to an hour, great! But how will it benefit those people in the

:13:45. > :13:48.North? Couldn't you bring some of that workforce down to London to

:13:49. > :14:00.start building it? No one can afford to live in London. It's a huge

:14:01. > :14:05.project. I was staggered at the time scale of it. If this all goes

:14:06. > :14:18.according to plan, the second phase would be completed until 2033. Vince

:14:19. > :14:26.Cable does mention the property market to being a huge issue about

:14:27. > :14:33.moving workers down. He is ahead of us.

:14:34. > :14:36.That's it for The Papers this hour. Thank you, Eva Simpson and Emily

:14:37. > :14:39.Ashton, you'll both be back at half eleven for another look at the

:14:40. > :14:46.stories making the news tomorrow. Stay with us. We will have more on

:14:47. > :14:49.the developments in Ukraine and on that Malaysian Airlines plane.
