:00:00. > :00:00.newspaper speculation about Moyes' position. Delegates at the NUT

:00:00. > :00:00.conference in Brighton have voted in favour of strike action in June. It

:00:00. > :00:00.follows an argument with the government over pay, conditions, and

:00:07. > :00:18.pensions. Hello, and welcome to our look ahead

:00:19. > :00:21.to what the papers will be bringing us tomorrow. With me are James

:00:22. > :00:25.Rampton of the Independent, and the broadcaster and journalist, Lynn

:00:26. > :00:28.Faulds Wood. The Telegraph highlights an NHS

:00:29. > :00:30.report which says at least a thousand patients are dying

:00:31. > :00:33.needlessly each month from acute kidney injury, a treatable condition

:00:34. > :00:39.which can be avoided if people are kept hydrated. The Guardian says the

:00:40. > :00:42.former PM Gordon Brown will intervene in the Scottish referendum

:00:43. > :00:45.debate for the Better Together campaign, with a claim that Scottish

:00:46. > :00:52.pensioners will be better off if Scotland stays within the UK.

:00:53. > :00:55.Metro's headline is "Farewell Peaches". The funeral of the singer

:00:56. > :00:58.Peaches Geldof took place today and her coffin was decorated with a

:00:59. > :01:03.drawing of her husband, her children and her pets. The Mail warns of the

:01:04. > :01:06."Mortgage Inquisition', saying prospective home buyers will be

:01:07. > :01:16.forced to answer very detailed questions about every aspect of

:01:17. > :01:19.their finances and spending. The Times says Britain is to lead an

:01:20. > :01:21.international effort to weaken President Putin's power by reducing

:01:22. > :01:24.the world's reliance on Russia's energy supplies. The Financial Times

:01:25. > :01:27.claims that legislation is due to be introduced which would allow energy

:01:28. > :01:33.companies greater freedom to frack for shale gas. The Sun also carries

:01:34. > :01:36.a photo of Peaches Geldof's funeral, but the banner headline also refers

:01:37. > :01:39.to speculation that the Manchester United manager David Moyes is on the

:01:40. > :01:42.verge of being fired. The Mirror, too, leads on the expected changes

:01:43. > :01:44.at the top of Old Trafford, saying that Ryan Giggs could be appointed

:01:45. > :02:07.caretaker manager. Let's start with the Times. Lynn, do

:02:08. > :02:11.you want to start us off? This is a warning from the energy Secretary.

:02:12. > :02:17.Europe gets a quarter of its energy from Russia, and half of that comes

:02:18. > :02:22.through Ukraine. All the troubles in Ukraine means that energy will be a

:02:23. > :02:26.lot more expensive in Europe. In Britain, we have some of our Rome,

:02:27. > :02:33.and maybe we should hang on to Scotland before we don't have any

:02:34. > :02:42.left! `` our Rome. The Shetlands and Orkneys claim it as well, they will

:02:43. > :02:48.maybe secede as well! We have a serious problem, because Russia is

:02:49. > :02:50.so rich in gas and we need its gas, and Britain is worried about

:02:51. > :02:59.Germany, particularly, because Germany gets most of its gas from

:03:00. > :03:04.Russia. The end result is that we are going to end up paying more on

:03:05. > :03:11.our energy bills, and there is a warning here for Europe, Gazprom,

:03:12. > :03:16.the Russian energy giant, said that prices could go up 44%. If you

:03:17. > :03:20.shelve prices up, people will look for alternatives, and it might not

:03:21. > :03:29.be very good for Gazprom in the long`term. There is a fascinating

:03:30. > :03:39.issue here, apparently Russia wrote his Ph.D. About the concept of

:03:40. > :03:44.Russia using its energy riches to re`establish its position in the

:03:45. > :03:47.world. I think it is very interesting that Ed Davey is saying

:03:48. > :03:51.that we must show our support for Germany. Germany is much less

:03:52. > :03:57.willing to impose sanctions and the rest of Europe when all the

:03:58. > :04:00.activities were happening in Ukraine earlier this year, because they were

:04:01. > :04:03.so worried about the gas being turned off. It is all about

:04:04. > :04:08.politics, we are lucky that we are not dependent on the Russian gas,

:04:09. > :04:10.they think it is good to show solidarity with the rest of Europe

:04:11. > :04:16.and show Vladimir Putin that he can't bully us. Let's move on, the

:04:17. > :04:20.Daily Telegraph, a big picture on the front page of David Moyes,

:04:21. > :04:29.looking very harrowed and harassed and miserable. I want to go down the

:04:30. > :04:32.page, this story. Vincent Nichols, the leader of the Catholic Church in

:04:33. > :04:39.England and Wales, what is he on about? Ukip are coming out with an

:04:40. > :04:46.1.5 million pound poster campaign, and that is partly what he is

:04:47. > :04:52.thinking about. They drove vehicles around with these huge boardings on

:04:53. > :04:57.the side, and Nigel Farage of Ukip called them nasty at the time.

:04:58. > :05:05.Arguably, the ones that Ukip are bringing out, they are even nasty,

:05:06. > :05:12.Oracle is that is what Cardinal Vincent Nichols is saying. One of

:05:13. > :05:17.them shows a big finger`pointing at the reader, saying that millions of

:05:18. > :05:22.people in Europe are looking for work, and whose job are they after.

:05:23. > :05:26.Because we have a lot of old people in this country, we need young blood

:05:27. > :05:31.to come in. There was a warning at the beginning of the year that we

:05:32. > :05:39.would be overrun by Bulgarians and Romanians, and when we monitored the

:05:40. > :05:54.flight, only one chap got off. And he was met by 50 journalists! We

:05:55. > :06:02.need these people to regenerate ourselves and fund the older

:06:03. > :06:06.people. There are figures that show that immigration benefits the

:06:07. > :06:10.country. I know there are this reaction is that people have about

:06:11. > :06:15.immigrants, but they do help our economy, and I think it is good that

:06:16. > :06:18.the Cardinal has brought that up here. A church that is divorced from

:06:19. > :06:22.everyday reality is not a church in my book. I remember Mrs Thatcher

:06:23. > :06:26.talking about the Bishop of Durham commenting on the miners' strike.

:06:27. > :06:30.And I thought, that is what the bishop is for. Cardinal Nichols is

:06:31. > :06:37.commenting on what is happening in this country, and it is right that

:06:38. > :06:44.he does so. We were talking earlier about people writing secularist

:06:45. > :06:48.letters to the paper, and right at the bottom of this story, Vincent

:06:49. > :06:53.Nichols is saying that some catholic churches are full to overflowing

:06:54. > :07:01.juju immigration. A lot of immigrants are from Poland, and that

:07:02. > :07:10.is a very devout Catholic country `` due to immigration. I think it is

:07:11. > :07:13.his role to speak about what is happening in society, and good on

:07:14. > :07:17.him for doing that. Look at the Daily Mirror, we can't avoid this

:07:18. > :07:28.story, it has been everywhere. David Moyes. Who is the biggest football

:07:29. > :07:31.fan here? Can I surprise you, I am all for having women more involved

:07:32. > :07:37.in football, especially playing it. I was telling James earlier that my

:07:38. > :07:50.husband is a mad Manchester City than, and one of the banners... The

:07:51. > :08:02.City fans were holding up a banner that said " keep David Moyes! " .

:08:03. > :08:06.The fact is, it has all gone horribly wrong. It probably went

:08:07. > :08:11.horribly wrong because it is very difficult to follow anyone like Sir

:08:12. > :08:21.Alex Ferguson. You think it would have happened to anyone? Jose

:08:22. > :08:25.Mourinho shows what and astute man he is for not taking the job, if he

:08:26. > :08:28.was offered it. You are right, it is impossible to follow Alex Ferguson,

:08:29. > :08:34.especially because he sits there sternly muttering and cutting about

:08:35. > :08:44.what is going wrong. He was called the chosen one, and a few weeks ago,

:08:45. > :08:51.the hands of Manchester United hired an aeroplane with a private message,

:08:52. > :08:53.the wrong one. They are out of the Champions League, that has cost them

:08:54. > :08:59.30 million, and the fans are threatening to desert them, so

:09:00. > :09:03.ticket sales will go down as well. In the Daily Express, we have, how

:09:04. > :09:11.dreams become nightmares, because Old Trafford is known as the Iturup

:09:12. > :09:13.dreams. It is all about money, they are worried about season`ticket

:09:14. > :09:19.sales, they are worried that the business of selling shirts is an

:09:20. > :09:25.enormous part of any football club, and that is under threat. If they

:09:26. > :09:31.don't even make the Europa league, it will be catastrophic. What is

:09:32. > :09:36.staggering to me is that the man had a six`year contract. Nobody gets a

:09:37. > :09:41.six year contract, do they? If they get rid of him, it'll cost them, ?5

:09:42. > :09:48.million, ?10 million, it will cost them a lot. We talked about this

:09:49. > :10:02.earlier, contenders include Jurgen Klopp, and a Dutch national coach. I

:10:03. > :10:15.like that Alex Ferguson himself is 16 to one to return. The Guardian,

:10:16. > :10:24.Caroline Spelman has been speaking out on the subject of criminalised

:10:25. > :10:30.eyeing off sex. There is a Nordic model whereby those who buy sex can

:10:31. > :10:33.be guilty of a criminal offence. At the moment, only the selling off sex

:10:34. > :10:37.is a criminal offence, and I think it is a good idea because it might

:10:38. > :10:40.clamp down on the scandalous number of poor girls who are being

:10:41. > :10:49.trafficked to this country. It is only ever an estimate, but something

:10:50. > :10:54.like 2500 `3000 girls are trafficked into this country to be used in the

:10:55. > :10:57.sex business. If anything can stop that, it would be a very good thing,

:10:58. > :11:02.and this might do something to help. What worries me is you might

:11:03. > :11:09.end up with a rapidly in the law which could turn out to drive sex

:11:10. > :11:17.underground, because if a man was to be a criminal for looking for sex or

:11:18. > :11:20.going with a prostitute, then you are not going to see them out

:11:21. > :11:23.anywhere. There are 30,000 prostitutes apparently, and just

:11:24. > :11:27.over half of them are immigrants into this country, and they think

:11:28. > :11:36.that just under half are vulnerable women, and they are mainly women, I

:11:37. > :11:41.think. It does seem to have worked elsewhere, but perhaps the Nordic

:11:42. > :11:48.countries are quite different. It is getting a warm response from people

:11:49. > :11:55.representing prostitutes at the moment, so I don't think it is about

:11:56. > :11:58.throwbacks. They were talking about if they banned boxing it would go

:11:59. > :12:04.underground, you are right. There will always be the search for some

:12:05. > :12:07.kind of prostitution, and if it is unregulated or unauthorised in any

:12:08. > :12:11.way, then even more criminal elements could become involved and

:12:12. > :12:13.that could be even worse. Let's go to the Independent, there is a

:12:14. > :12:27.story, I read it, it is quite complicated. Scientists and it DNA

:12:28. > :12:37.to cure diseases. I have a genetic disease in my family, I have lupus

:12:38. > :12:40.in my family, and I wish them a speedy solution on how to edit my

:12:41. > :12:47.DNA to get rid of it, because it killed my mother. There is a

:12:48. > :12:53.technology that allows to make almost any DNA changes at precisely

:12:54. > :13:03.defined points on the chromosomes of animals or plants. There may be huge

:13:04. > :13:07.explanations in sight, we have only got the front page of the moment,

:13:08. > :13:12.and it is well worth everyone buying it to see what they are saying. They

:13:13. > :13:16.have terrifying overtones of big rubber, if you just read the front

:13:17. > :13:22.page, and I'm hoping it is all very clear. I would spend it

:13:23. > :13:34.differently, I think this is an extremely reputable journalist ``

:13:35. > :13:41.Big Brother. My interpretation would be positive, if they have found a

:13:42. > :13:45.way to alter one letter of DNA, to cure live disease, which they have

:13:46. > :13:50.done in a mouse, if they could then you are other diseases which are

:13:51. > :13:53.affecting so many humans, I think that is brilliant. If we could

:13:54. > :13:56.possibly find a way to deal with these terrible conditions that have

:13:57. > :14:12.devastated human beings for centuries, that would be incredible.

:14:13. > :14:15.Let's go to the Financial Times. The important thing about this is that

:14:16. > :14:19.companies that want to look for shale gas can do it, we'll be able

:14:20. > :14:32.to do it on private land. In America, landowners have made a

:14:33. > :14:40.fortune from selling the rights to frack. I'm sure there will be

:14:41. > :14:45.increasing calls for more fracking if we want to be independent from

:14:46. > :14:49.Russian energy. In my eyes, it is extremely unproven tech knowledge, I

:14:50. > :14:58.know there have been a lot of allegations of earthquakes in the

:14:59. > :15:00.US, and it seems to make sense that if disrupt the ground underneath

:15:01. > :15:04.towns they will have a lot of structural damage. I know there was

:15:05. > :15:08.a minor earthquake in Blackpool when they did some recently. Exciting in

:15:09. > :15:13.theory, but as yet, I think the jury is out. Be careful what you wish

:15:14. > :15:17.for. They are talking about changing trespassing laws. We have huge areas

:15:18. > :15:26.of Britain owned by private landowners, some of whom are Tory

:15:27. > :15:42.MPs as well. I think there is a long way to go before this happens. Thank

:15:43. > :15:44.you both very much. Stay with us. At midnight, we report on the

:15:45. > :15:49.presidential elections that will take place in Syria in June, despite

:15:50. > :15:50.fighting going on. The UN condemns the decision, as does America.

:15:51. > :16:03.Coming up next, time for Sportsday. Hello and welcome to Sportsday. I'm

:16:04. > :16:06.James Pearce. Our headlines tonight: Is Moyes being moved on? Manchester

:16:07. > :16:12.United refuse to comment on speculation that their manager is

:16:13. > :16:15.about to be sacked. Manchester City beat West Brom to

:16:16. > :16:20.keep the pressure on Liverpool at the top of the Premier League.

:16:21. > :16:22.Late night drama at
