:00:00. > :00:00.have that and the action from Chelsea 's semi`final in Madrid.
:00:00. > :00:17.That is coming up in 15 minutes. Hello and welcome to our look ahead
:00:18. > :00:21.to what the papers will be bringing us tomorrow. With me are Anne
:00:22. > :00:23.Ashworth, assistant editor of The Times and David Davies, media
:00:24. > :00:32.commentator and former executive director of the FA. Let's have a
:00:33. > :00:35.look at some of the front pages. The Metro's just one of many papers
:00:36. > :00:39.featuring the former Manchester United manager David Moyes ` it says
:00:40. > :00:43.Dutchman Louis Van Gaal may be his eventual replacement.
:00:44. > :00:46.The Telegraph highlights comments from the Attorney General Dominic
:00:47. > :00:49.Grieve who says Christians in Britain are afraid to express their
:00:50. > :00:53.beliefs because they are "turned off" by the rise of religious
:00:54. > :00:56.fundamentalism. The Guardian says Vince Cable has
:00:57. > :01:02.warned Britain's boardrooms to crack down on executive bonuses to help
:01:03. > :01:05.restore public trust. The Mail carries a story that
:01:06. > :01:07.customs officials will be prevented from asking EU Nationals entering
:01:08. > :01:10.the country how long they intend to stay here.
:01:11. > :01:14.The Times leads on figures which show that serious violent crime in
:01:15. > :01:20.the UK has fallen by 50% in adecade and puts it down to a decline in
:01:21. > :01:23.binge drinking. There's a new theory in the search
:01:24. > :01:25.for the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 in the Express, which
:01:26. > :01:31.claims investigators are exploring the possibility that it may have
:01:32. > :01:35.crashed on land. And finally, the Independent reports
:01:36. > :01:37.that Labour is to set up an "attack unit" ahead of the next election to
:01:38. > :01:49.counter opposition attempts to discredit Ed Miliband.
:01:50. > :01:53.We are going to start with the Guardian. A number of people on
:01:54. > :01:58.Twitter have been saying this story is overblown. Why is everyone
:01:59. > :02:03.leading wicket? Manchester United is the biggest player in our national
:02:04. > :02:07.sport and it is one of England's biggest brands globally. If this was
:02:08. > :02:16.Rolls Royce or Marks Spencer, we would be doing the same thing. This
:02:17. > :02:21.story has everything. Failure is as fascinating to observe as success.
:02:22. > :02:26.This man has been humiliated but his face, you see it on all the front
:02:27. > :02:30.pages. Etched with the misery of that punched look. Who could not be
:02:31. > :02:37.fascinated eye this? I don't think we can actually write enough or say
:02:38. > :02:42.enough about it. Is a human drama. The players perhaps not performing
:02:43. > :02:47.for him. Seeing the former god that was... That controlled their
:02:48. > :02:53.destiny, Alex Ferguson. They perhaps did not have any respect for him?
:02:54. > :03:01.Her even his critics would say he has performed with immense dignity.
:03:02. > :03:05.That is because, certainly as far as I know him, and I do not know him
:03:06. > :03:12.well, he is a thoroughly decent person who, I hope and expect, will
:03:13. > :03:16.get a job perhaps our broad as Steve McClaren did. Don't forget what
:03:17. > :03:21.happened to him as a coach not so long ago. He went abroad and it very
:03:22. > :03:24.well and has come back and is doing well together. My instinct is, we
:03:25. > :03:29.have not heard the last of David Moyes in football. When I look back
:03:30. > :03:36.and reflect on what has happened, there was probably too much change
:03:37. > :03:42.too quickly on and off the pitch. And, succession planning. You a
:03:43. > :03:47.great deal... We have already talked about business and the similarities
:03:48. > :03:52.these days between football. You have succession planning but how
:03:53. > :03:57.often in business, let alone football, does it work out? I can
:03:58. > :04:03.tell you about the way that coaches and managers art recruited in
:04:04. > :04:08.football. Sometimes at a immensely short notice. It is still in so many
:04:09. > :04:15.cases, is a professional, frankly. There is a club which will remain
:04:16. > :04:22.nameless which has been promoted in recent weeks which had a number of
:04:23. > :04:29.disasters with managers and then used a head Hunter to consider a
:04:30. > :04:36.number of candidates and went with that manager and he has the team
:04:37. > :04:42.promoted. I do think there are horses for courses. Sometimes you
:04:43. > :04:46.want a young, thrusting merger and sometimes they need the old head. I
:04:47. > :04:55.find it extraordinary that much he has had to carry account. He did not
:04:56. > :04:59.sign the cheque, did he? This is the question. Where is the
:05:00. > :05:05.responsibility? I always say to people, when you go into a club,
:05:06. > :05:11.when you become chief executive, you can't teach someone to carry out a
:05:12. > :05:15.transfer. You learn on the job almost invariably. People do it in
:05:16. > :05:22.different ways. The chairman of Tottenham is famous, he does deals
:05:23. > :05:31.last minute. Others say, doing deals last minute is a recipe for
:05:32. > :05:35.disaster. Let go to the Metro. Louis van Gaal is tipped for the post. He
:05:36. > :05:43.is the Dutch national coast at the moment. You are a Chelsea fan, you
:05:44. > :05:50.are hoping that the call. I am intrigued by this guy. As a David
:05:51. > :06:00.Moyes got some history with this guy? Black Louis van Gaal is a very
:06:01. > :06:05.strong character. I happen to be in the same hotel as him for several
:06:06. > :06:13.days a year ago, almost a year ago in Brazil. The reality isn't
:06:14. > :06:17.necessarily the image of the past, somewhat maverick, can be very cross
:06:18. > :06:26.rather stern figure that he had in this country. Sounds like Sir Alex
:06:27. > :06:31.Ferguson! He is leaving Holland to the World Cup which goes on until
:06:32. > :06:38.the second week of July. Either way, Holland got to the final time
:06:39. > :06:43.in South Africa. This thing about your own sports presenter is saying
:06:44. > :06:48.tonight, Ryan Giggs is not going to be the permanent manager of
:06:49. > :06:53.Manchester United. Well, the only thing I would say is that if
:06:54. > :06:58.Manchester United romped through the last four games of the season, with
:06:59. > :07:06.wonderful results and the roof comes off at Manchester United, just
:07:07. > :07:10.watch! When people were themselves out. People used to run themselves
:07:11. > :07:15.out who we were never going to consider any way. Ryan Giggs is the
:07:16. > :07:22.only British name mentioned here. There is a whole absence of that
:07:23. > :07:25.kind of manager. Why is that? That is what I am most worried about. I
:07:26. > :07:36.know Brendan Rodgers is a dish manager of Liverpool but the impact
:07:37. > :07:43.of David Moyess failure at United may well be to put the case of
:07:44. > :07:47.British managers back a number of notches at the biggest club which is
:07:48. > :07:53.immensely sad. We are going to go to the Times and a shock drop in
:07:54. > :07:58.violent crime, reduced consumption and binge drinking. This is
:07:59. > :08:03.extraordinary. It is the upside of the downtime. People that incomes
:08:04. > :08:06.were constrained. They could not spend so much on alcohol which
:08:07. > :08:15.became rather more expensive. And so, they can bide less unless
:08:16. > :08:19.violent. These figures are not, we quite often look at crime figures
:08:20. > :08:26.and say, well the statistics are reliable. But these are based on
:08:27. > :08:30.hospital admissions, figures on which we can rely. The ending of
:08:31. > :08:40.bid`rigging has lessened violence on our streets. This is a good news
:08:41. > :08:47.story. This hit or help, the case for increasing minimum prices. I
:08:48. > :08:53.think these figures help the case without a shadow of a doubt. My
:08:54. > :08:58.reaction to this story was, crime statistics have been improving over
:08:59. > :09:03.several years. In the last years of the labour government and the use of
:09:04. > :09:08.the Coalition government. And yet, out in the country, there is huge
:09:09. > :09:15.scepticism about these figures, I think. These figures are impressive.
:09:16. > :09:20.Figures down to the sixth year in a row in England and Wales. The latest
:09:21. > :09:24.quarterly crime statistics overall, not just these figures, are going to
:09:25. > :09:30.be out tomorrow. It will be interesting to see where they go
:09:31. > :09:35.because what's happening in the UK, or at least in England and Wales, is
:09:36. > :09:40.being reflected in other European countries. Very interesting story. A
:09:41. > :09:55.good news story. And also, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at Uluru. A
:09:56. > :10:00.reminder of a previous picture. Really rather beautifully posed,
:10:01. > :10:07.despite the lengthening shadows. The extraordinary colours of this rock
:10:08. > :10:10.that used to be called Ayers Rock. This is the image that will make
:10:11. > :10:17.everybody start thinking, yes, I do want to go to Australia. She was
:10:18. > :10:19.also wearing a frock that she had warned before so she was being
:10:20. > :10:25.thrifty. It is a story with everything. A beautiful blue sky
:10:26. > :10:31.there. Having had a go at some elements of PR, one should say that
:10:32. > :10:37.the PR of this trip have been fantastic for Australia and New
:10:38. > :10:41.Zealand. That is very true. And also for the Royal family because the
:10:42. > :10:46.cause of Republicanism has dipped quite a lot Down Under because of
:10:47. > :10:54.the trip. Let's go to the Independent. New England and adviser
:10:55. > :10:58.to model instant rebuttals on successful Obama campaign. I think
:10:59. > :11:06.they have all been watching house of cards. Who hasn't? I just finished
:11:07. > :11:12.the first series. I have watched it and they are all wanting to be a
:11:13. > :11:17.character in that drama. Whenever the Tories say anything bad about Ed
:11:18. > :11:22.Miliband, they will say, that is not true. Is that not just what you do
:11:23. > :11:27.in an election anyway? Vista is telling me that there will be an
:11:28. > :11:32.election and lies will be told and we will say they are not true.
:11:33. > :11:37.Apparently, any time anyone says Ed Miliband is weird, they will say...
:11:38. > :11:44.They will bite. The rebuttal machine, was that not a great
:11:45. > :11:51.strength of the Blair government. There is nothing new. Some of us in
:11:52. > :11:58.about the 1992 general election. I was working for the BBC then in the
:11:59. > :12:05.West Midlands. The weekend before I was told by the Tory agent, sadly
:12:06. > :12:08.now dead, that we are going to lose this election. On the Monday
:12:09. > :12:14.morning, early on, he rang me up and said forget what I told you! We will
:12:15. > :12:25.win this election! The vilification of Neil Covic, if he wins the
:12:26. > :12:32.election today, all that stuff. In itself didn't change the election.
:12:33. > :12:35.That vilification of him over the months leading up to the election
:12:36. > :12:41.and during the election campaign was a big thing. Was that not a very
:12:42. > :12:43.different kind of election that one waged on the front page of
:12:44. > :12:51.newspapers. This election will be all about how you work social media.
:12:52. > :13:00.Very interesting indeed. Finally, the Daily Telegraph. Why are you
:13:01. > :13:10.talking about older people going to Spain and then going to meet? Anyone
:13:11. > :13:13.with a holiday. It is not just the Brits to be fair. If you read this
:13:14. > :13:18.story, we are talking about the Germans as well and the French.
:13:19. > :13:23.Spain has its employment problems big time, particularly youth
:13:24. > :13:29.unemployment. It is an interesting story when you look back only a
:13:30. > :13:41.decade, perhaps 15 years as well. And how things have changed. If you
:13:42. > :13:46.cannot get a job, there is also the health`care issue here. If you are
:13:47. > :13:53.unemployed and under pensionable age in Spain, you are no longer getting
:13:54. > :13:59.any health treatment costs covered. By the UK. If you were not feeling
:14:00. > :14:05.very well, without a job, and unlikely to get one, wouldn't you
:14:06. > :14:11.just think that you have given it a go, let's go home? You run the
:14:12. > :14:15.bricks and mortar section of The Times, these Brits abandoning homes,
:14:16. > :14:19.are they managing to sell them at any kind of profit whatsoever? There
:14:20. > :14:23.are parts of the Spanish market that are beginning to turn, where a
:14:24. > :14:30.recovery is coming, but they tend to be in better areas. A lot of these
:14:31. > :14:34.homes that were built illegally, who knows when that problem will be
:14:35. > :14:38.resolved? I suppose people get tired of waiting for their lives to begin
:14:39. > :14:47.and are cutting losses and coming home. Some people are losing a lot
:14:48. > :14:54.of money? They have stuck at this story. It appears there are 100,000
:14:55. > :15:01.of our fellow countrymen and women in Spain `` 800,000. Migrants
:15:02. > :15:09.working? Yes, living there, at least part of the year. That is a heck of
:15:10. > :15:15.a lot of people, isn't it? 800,000? It is not all over. Indeed. The news
:15:16. > :15:22.about the euro and the European crisis, in regards to its finances,
:15:23. > :15:27.seems to be getting better. That is fairly good news. It has been great
:15:28. > :15:31.having you both here. Many thanks. Stay with us, at the top of the
:15:32. > :15:36.hour, we will have more on the crisis in Ukraine, tensions are
:15:37. > :15:41.rising that, especially in the east, as the acting president orders a
:15:42. > :15:57.relaunch of military action against the pro` Russian groups. But now, on
:15:58. > :16:05.BBC News, it is time for Sportsday. Welcome to Sportsday. So much for
:16:06. > :16:08.being the Chosen One. Manchester United are looking for the Right
:16:09. > :16:12.One, after sacking David Moyes. Chelsea lose Cech and Terry but old
:16:13. > :16:14.Athletico Madrid to a goal`less draw in the Champions' League
