:00:00. > :00:00.excluded from the French party. A possible return for Freddie and an

:00:00. > :00:17.update on the Joe Root Italia. `` G Road Italia.

:00:18. > :00:27.Welcome to our look ahead to what the papers will be bringing us

:00:28. > :00:33.tomorrow. With me Liam Halligan and Hugo Rifkind. Let us look at the

:00:34. > :00:36.front pages. The EU court ruling that means Google could have to

:00:37. > :00:44.delete search results which might upset or embarrass anyone with the

:00:45. > :00:47.so`called right to be forgotten. A little understood tax policy that

:00:48. > :00:52.means half a million middle`class professionals are paying income tax

:00:53. > :01:03.of 60%. More on the attempted takeover of

:01:04. > :01:07.Astra Zeneca by Pfizer. Why was Internet predator not

:01:08. > :01:13.jailed, asks the Daily Mail. The case of a 34`year`old man who was

:01:14. > :01:20.that of a child sex charges, but only given a three`year

:01:21. > :01:24.rehabilitation order. Allegations by a former deputy

:01:25. > :01:32.leader that MEPs are made to donate large sums.

:01:33. > :01:37.A secret five`month battle with lung cancer.

:01:38. > :01:43.We are going to start with the Independent. UK troops could face

:01:44. > :01:47.war crimes trial. We are a long way off that. But this is the beginning

:01:48. > :01:50.of something that could be extremely embarrassing. This is potentially a

:01:51. > :01:54.serious story. It is hard to know which direction

:01:55. > :02:02.it is going to go. What is not clear at is whether this is the first

:02:03. > :02:05.evidence of whether we are seeing something terrible happening in this

:02:06. > :02:12.country or evidence of Britain being a country that co`operates fully on

:02:13. > :02:17.the basis of quite sketchy allegations. It is impossible to say

:02:18. > :02:21.which one of those is true. It is a sign of the fact that we are signed

:02:22. > :02:27.up to the International Criminal Court. We are part of its

:02:28. > :02:30.jurisdiction, America is not. It is a sign that we are open, a country

:02:31. > :02:37.that is willing to abide by the rule of law. The ICC and the Hague is

:02:38. > :02:48.saying allegedly that there were 60 unlawful killings and the hundred 70

:02:49. > :02:53.mistreatment of prisoners. `` 170. The government has a carefully

:02:54. > :02:59.calibrated response. On the one hand we will corporate with the ICC, but

:03:00. > :03:08.it was also said that the government rejects the allegations of systemic

:03:09. > :03:12.abuse, crucial word they, systemic. They also think the incident is

:03:13. > :03:18.being referred to, they have been conned brands of the investigated.

:03:19. > :03:22.This is going to be a slow burn story. The early indications are

:03:23. > :03:29.that even the preliminary hearings will take several years. This is

:03:30. > :03:37.kind to be operating just below the news radar for a long time to come.

:03:38. > :03:43.`` going. Some potentially pretty serious revelations. What the public

:03:44. > :03:50.needs to understand with this possible case is that the allegation

:03:51. > :04:00.is that this was organised, this was systematic. Senior military and

:04:01. > :04:07.political figures are named. It is the suggestion that whatever was

:04:08. > :04:15.happening went to the top. There were policies directing the army. We

:04:16. > :04:21.have got to remember that a lot of this evidence is coming from the

:04:22. > :04:25.armies and records. The British Army is a relatively easy army to

:04:26. > :04:32.investigate. You are going to be in trouble investigating the Iraq army.

:04:33. > :04:36.It studies its own misdeeds, it investigates its own misdeeds, there

:04:37. > :04:44.is a body of evidence. We have to wait and see which way it will go.

:04:45. > :04:49.Going on to the Financial Times. A blow to US Internet companies. This

:04:50. > :04:55.is the whole issue of the right to be forgotten if you have things up

:04:56. > :05:04.on the Internet. This is a ruling by the court of justice. You will get

:05:05. > :05:08.some people say that it is a blow for free expression and freedom of

:05:09. > :05:16.the press. On the other hand, on the other side of the argument

:05:17. > :05:23.intermediaries and media companies that publish stuff on the Internet

:05:24. > :05:32.may have to be responsible for the veracity of what they publish. This

:05:33. > :05:36.is an implication that in many ways is almost old`fashioned and

:05:37. > :05:39.anachronistic. It is trying to regulate the Internet by

:05:40. > :05:46.jurisdiction. It is almost impossible. What if you are someone

:05:47. > :05:57.who has a personal record and it is up there. Can you apply to have it

:05:58. > :06:01.completely wiped? You can, provided people are going to search in the

:06:02. > :06:15.right way. I have been thinking this over. Before I was in camp, then I

:06:16. > :06:19.was the other. The EU can only have jurisdiction over Google .co .uk. Go

:06:20. > :06:28.to Google .com and you are using the American site. It is part of press

:06:29. > :06:32.regulation. The idea that we can pass laws in this country that limit

:06:33. > :06:38.what people can see on the Internet without being incredibly

:06:39. > :06:42.authoritarian. The point of the Internet is that it is global.

:06:43. > :06:47.Unless we are going to regulate the traffic that comes into this

:06:48. > :06:50.country, which has massive free`speech implications, all we can

:06:51. > :06:57.do is look at the past that are based here. `` parts. And while

:06:58. > :07:03.somebody has been accused of something scurrilous Romilly, on the

:07:04. > :07:07.other hand if you have committed a crime the public has the right to

:07:08. > :07:17.know that you committed that crime. That should not be removed. What

:07:18. > :07:24.about the idea 20 years ago that he did something silly as a teenager?

:07:25. > :07:30.It depends on what it is. There is a danger on facilitating a system in

:07:31. > :07:38.which it is in the power of people with expensive lawyers to change the

:07:39. > :07:44.public record. That is ominous. Let us go on to the Guardian. This is

:07:45. > :07:50.getting interesting. UKIP. This is the face of the future, apparently.

:07:51. > :07:57.A rising star accuses the party of racism. We have a special event with

:07:58. > :08:09.Nigel Farage and a lot of ethnic minorities behind him. Firstly, I

:08:10. > :08:12.doubt it is a coincidence when she is choosing to go. The fact that she

:08:13. > :08:17.is going in the run`up to EU elections, there that in mind. She

:08:18. > :08:26.has been a member of the party when she was 18. She was formerly very

:08:27. > :08:38.keen on it. She thought she was believing in EU's ideals. She now

:08:39. > :08:42.says of late the UKIP party has been attracting the racist vote. She says

:08:43. > :08:47.that they have been spreading a message of us and them. It is an

:08:48. > :08:56.important story. She is right. She is right because UKIP has obviously

:08:57. > :09:01.made a calculation as to how best to spread anti` EU politics and they

:09:02. > :09:04.have decided to do so by being anti` aggression. UKIP used to not talk

:09:05. > :09:12.about immigration. `` anti`immigration. It was about

:09:13. > :09:19.sovereign powers. They have really made a conscious effort to harness

:09:20. > :09:28.the anti`immigration vote. It is working. It is ugly and I find it

:09:29. > :09:35.frightening. Good on her for speaking out against it. What about

:09:36. > :09:38.all that stuff last week. There were a number of black and Indian people

:09:39. > :09:46.standing kind Nigel Farage when he made it clear that his party is not

:09:47. > :09:49.racist. He is going to stand by it. One would have thought that the

:09:50. > :09:57.minorities in the party do not think it is racist. They were a lot of

:09:58. > :10:08.them around him. The mainstream media has been a little bit guilty

:10:09. > :10:14.of homing in on the peccadilloes and misdemeanours of UKIP candidates. It

:10:15. > :10:20.is not hard. That is compared to those of Tory, labour and Liberal

:10:21. > :10:24.candidates. To a degree. This is damaging for the party. You have got

:10:25. > :10:37.a young lady who is going to create a lot of attention. It is a very

:10:38. > :10:45.powerful message. Then we have the story that UKIP MEPs elected are

:10:46. > :10:54.going to have to donate 10% to their salary to the party. I was not aware

:10:55. > :11:00.of that. It is not a terribly shocking state of affairs. Parties

:11:01. > :11:08.thrived when they are elected to the European Parliament. You have UKIP

:11:09. > :11:14.candidates are rotated at the fact that they do not get to keep all

:11:15. > :11:23.their money. The Times is calling it a scandal. If there is an element of

:11:24. > :11:29.coercion going on, what the paper suggests is that candidates have not

:11:30. > :11:32.to donate cash are being threatened with being barred from standing

:11:33. > :11:37.again. That sounds fairly scandalous. Going back to the point

:11:38. > :11:47.that if you're perhaps the press have been targeting UKIP a bit more

:11:48. > :11:53.than other parties. `` you feel. UKIP is this new force that

:11:54. > :12:01.potentially will be picking up speed. I think that is fair. The

:12:02. > :12:06.European elections, it is a long way to the general elections. The media

:12:07. > :12:15.will give each party a thorough examination. It is partly because

:12:16. > :12:19.UKIP is the new kid on the block. It is not a coincidence. They are not

:12:20. > :12:24.joining the Green party. There is something in the rhetoric of this

:12:25. > :12:31.party which appeals to them. They have not in the past been well

:12:32. > :12:35.served by a mainstream political party. I keep coming back to this

:12:36. > :12:48.point, but UKIP needs to ask why racist like it so much. `` racists.

:12:49. > :12:54.It has been doing well. There is clearly a constituency that likes

:12:55. > :12:59.the message. The message is everything. The message is in every

:13:00. > :13:05.direction at once. They claim to be a party that represents the poor

:13:06. > :13:12.while they will strip away every measure of support to Britain's most

:13:13. > :13:18.disadvantaged. They claim to be 100 different things at once. They claim

:13:19. > :13:31.to be a grassroots party, yet they are backing establishment. I also

:13:32. > :13:35.feel discomfort at UKIP always stressing immigration, reticular

:13:36. > :13:45.lead the posters that have come out recently. `` particularly. I think a

:13:46. > :13:52.lot of the public wants the debate but what I hope is that UKIP don't

:13:53. > :13:56.blow it by completely discrediting themselves to the detriment of all

:13:57. > :14:11.of us having a decent debate about European Union membership. We will

:14:12. > :14:23.and on this one. England, England, Scotland. The Giants a football

:14:24. > :14:29.around this table `` of. Officially, the Home Office says

:14:30. > :14:36.that England will not win the World Cup. They have to build into their

:14:37. > :14:43.models how they think the national team will do particularly in big

:14:44. > :14:52.competitions as it does affect consumer spending behaviour. In

:14:53. > :14:55.trying to ascertain the implications of keeping the pubs open later

:14:56. > :14:59.during the World Cup have had to examine the probability of England

:15:00. > :15:14.getting beyond the early stages which is only 54%. It's really are a

:15:15. > :15:22.winning side many times `` Italy, and Uruguay... Only the first two go

:15:23. > :15:29.through. We could be being unpatriotic. For us to get beyond

:15:30. > :15:44.the quarterfinals, it is only down to 11%. We are only a quarterfinal

:15:45. > :15:48.nation. Speaking as a late to this discussion, one of the things that I

:15:49. > :15:56.love the most about my adopted nation of England is the gleeful,

:15:57. > :16:02.dare I say childlike optimism as it relates to the English football

:16:03. > :16:16.team. The phones are ringing off the hook! Best of luck to you. You will

:16:17. > :16:32.need it. Stay with us now, much more coming up at the top of the hour but

:16:33. > :16:35.for now it is Sportsday. Hello and welcome to Sportsday. I'm

:16:36. > :16:41.Olly Foster. Here's what's coming up tonight. Vacancy at the Lane...Tim

:16:42. > :16:42.Sherwood has been sacked at Spurs. The
