:00:00. > :00:00.that has now claimed 300 lives. Executives from the company are

:00:00. > :00:19.among those being questioned. Hello and welcome to our look ahead

:00:20. > :00:28.to what the papers will be bringing us tomorrow.

:00:29. > :00:32.With me are James Ramsden. Welcome to both of you.

:00:33. > :00:35.The Daily Telegraph leads with a report suggesting the Governor of

:00:36. > :00:38.the Bank of England ` Mark Carney is prepared to cap mortgages as the

:00:39. > :00:44.average home goes up ten`thousand pounds in a month.

:00:45. > :00:47.The Daily Express leads on the same story adding that tough new rules

:00:48. > :00:51.will be put on mortgages to control soaring prices.

:00:52. > :00:54.The Metro also leads with Mark Carney's warning build more houses

:00:55. > :00:58.or risk financial meltdown. It's a theme followed by The Times

:00:59. > :01:01.newspaper, which says the help to buy scheme is a threat to the

:01:02. > :01:04.economy's recovery. The Guardian leads with plans from

:01:05. > :01:07.Labour leader Ed Miliband to tackle low pay suggesting a future Labour

:01:08. > :01:12.government will link minimum pay to earnings.

:01:13. > :01:15.The Independent also leads with Ed Miliband's plans to increase the

:01:16. > :01:18.minimum wage and it also shows the rogue trader who's due to surrender

:01:19. > :01:25.to the French authorities to start a three`year jail term.

:01:26. > :01:29.The Daily Mail kicks off with the police hunt for two prisoners who

:01:30. > :01:33.failed to return after being let out on day release.

:01:34. > :01:35.And the Mirror reports on government cuts which they say have targeted

:01:36. > :01:40.lollipop ladies putting children's lives at risk on busy roads. So

:01:41. > :01:51.let's begin. The Levant target minimum wage for

:01:52. > :01:57.maximum gain. Tell us more. So, this is Ed Miliband trying to give Labour

:01:58. > :02:00.an edge at the time when there is fear that Labour is lagging behind

:02:01. > :02:04.the Conservatives. All numbers are showing that the first time in two

:02:05. > :02:09.years, they are behind the Tories. He is saying that they will peg the

:02:10. > :02:14.minimum wage with earnings was up however, the Conservatives are

:02:15. > :02:17.already saying that this is interventionist and could actually

:02:18. > :02:20.be disastrous for the economy. They are not actually putting a figure,

:02:21. > :02:26.so we do not know what the minimum wage would be. It is due to rise to

:02:27. > :02:36.?6 50 in October. But we don't know what it would mean. It will depend

:02:37. > :02:40.on the actual sector so it could actually very, for example between

:02:41. > :02:44.retail and the public sector. I am not sure how people would respond to

:02:45. > :02:50.that. I was quite struck by that when I glanced at this weekly. That

:02:51. > :02:57.is potentially tricky territory. Is. People may well be jealous of other

:02:58. > :03:01.professions thinking, I could go into catering and earn a bit more.

:03:02. > :03:07.Or move over into another sector and be better off. The very negative

:03:08. > :03:12.poll ratings recently for Labour, I think it has been a bad time for

:03:13. > :03:15.Labour. They got a lot of criticism for what I thought was a terrible

:03:16. > :03:23.political ad where they showed Nick Clegg as the incredible shooting

:03:24. > :03:30.man. Extremely negative. The word Labour was only mentioned for a

:03:31. > :03:35.second. David Axelrod, the election of Obama who has come over to boost

:03:36. > :03:36.Ed Miliband's performance, particularly his television

:03:37. > :03:42.performance which is perceived as weak, they are also facing the

:03:43. > :03:48.prospect of being wiped out potentially by UKIP this week. In

:03:49. > :03:53.the elections on Thursday. So, not a bad idea to bring this up now. This

:03:54. > :03:56.will play very well with hard`line Labour supporters. It does smack of

:03:57. > :04:01.desperation because of the negative polls. And the port about `` point

:04:02. > :04:07.about heartland supporters is interesting. The problem is,

:04:08. > :04:12.especially with the local elections on Thursday, they are not even sure

:04:13. > :04:16.of a heartland supporters. They will have to go beyond that. This is an

:04:17. > :04:19.issue that is something that Labour can do to get itself from other

:04:20. > :04:23.parties. There has been a lot of criticism Labour that we do not know

:04:24. > :04:27.what you stand for, other than being the opposition. If they actually

:04:28. > :04:34.laid out a plan that is convincing, they could say, this is the

:04:35. > :04:40.beginning of the economy. Does it play into the cost of living

:04:41. > :04:47.campaign? It does a bit but I think the danger with that, it looks all

:04:48. > :04:51.played out now but also, it is the economy issue. If you harp on about

:04:52. > :04:55.the economy, it is now recovering and that plays into the Tory hands.

:04:56. > :04:59.George Osborne is sitting pretty saying, look at the recovery that I

:05:00. > :05:02.have orchestrated. I'll die billiards? And people will find it

:05:03. > :05:07.hard to contradict because the figures seem to back him up. So,

:05:08. > :05:10.Labour will tread with great caution in the area of economics because

:05:11. > :05:16.that seems to be to the advantage of the Tories. Having said that,

:05:17. > :05:24.Labour's whole campaign is that while the biggest is the economy is

:05:25. > :05:28.better, people 's lives are better. We haven't really increased, rather

:05:29. > :05:32.they have decreased by about 5% since 2010. If they can play on

:05:33. > :05:36.those figures off, are you feeling a difference in your pocket? Most

:05:37. > :05:43.people would say no. Let's move to the Telegraph. Let's start with the

:05:44. > :05:48.main story. Banks be as house prices hit record high. This features on a

:05:49. > :05:54.number of newspapers. This is an extraordinary figure. It is actually

:05:55. > :05:59.the highest ever jump on record, an average of nearly ?10,000, on the

:06:00. > :06:04.value of houses which is absolutely unbelievable. In Tower Hamlets, one

:06:05. > :06:11.of the poorest part of London, they have gone up 43%, the value of

:06:12. > :06:15.houses. Incredible. Mark Carney is right about this, he is urging

:06:16. > :06:18.extreme caution because this bubble could total the economy. We have

:06:19. > :06:22.seen bubbles have a devastating effect of the economy before. He

:06:23. > :06:26.suggesting he may have to mortgages in order to dampen down the market

:06:27. > :06:30.because it is extremely overheating at the moment. I think that idea of

:06:31. > :06:35.just trying to come people down is very sensible. What Mark Carney is

:06:36. > :06:39.saying to the government, you are going to have to come up with

:06:40. > :06:41.something other than the issue of touching interest rates. That is one

:06:42. > :06:44.thing the bank of it and can influence. If you read interest

:06:45. > :06:47.rates, we're just talking about wages, people can't afford to pay

:06:48. > :06:50.their mortgages. That will be a bigger economic crisis. He is

:06:51. > :06:55.saying, what we need to is tackled other issues, including supply.

:06:56. > :07:00.There is a shortage of houses. When we look at the figures here in the

:07:01. > :07:05.Telegraph story, there is a 16% rise in house prices in London

:07:06. > :07:08.year`on`year. And 4.9% on average in the UK. There is a shortage of

:07:09. > :07:16.actual houses. The Help to Buy was supposed to help newbuilds. The

:07:17. > :07:21.Dubai scheme at the moment actually helps you to buy a house up to the

:07:22. > :07:24.value of ?600,000. Think about that. That is a lot of money when

:07:25. > :07:32.the average house in the UK is meant to cost about 275,000. Mark Carney,

:07:33. > :07:37.one of the suggested he had come up with is to actually change what

:07:38. > :07:40.helped by actually entails. Some people are talking about the figure

:07:41. > :07:45.being dropped to ?300,000. The Labour Party again is suggesting

:07:46. > :07:49.that drop. It is a cry help saying, this cannot continue to. The

:07:50. > :07:51.government is hinting that if Mark Carney does suggest that the

:07:52. > :07:57.islanders live, they would have to listen and act. Absolutely. It may

:07:58. > :08:02.well be a good solution. The problem with increasing supply is that this

:08:03. > :08:10.is a country that invented the phrase NIMBY. Where do you build new

:08:11. > :08:12.houses? They do not want a big new housing developments obscuring their

:08:13. > :08:16.lovely field at the back of the house. The green belt is very

:08:17. > :08:21.strongly protected in this country. It is a very nice idea to say, yes

:08:22. > :08:27.we need new houses but where do you build them? Also in the Telegraph,

:08:28. > :08:31.Nigel Farage appears. He has gone on the defensive to deflect claims of

:08:32. > :08:34.racism after a poll suggested his attempts to cause a political

:08:35. > :08:44.earthquake at the European elections may be blown off course. IGas it is

:08:45. > :08:47.reading sentiment from his statement regarding the whole idea that you

:08:48. > :08:49.are going to be comfortable having Romanians as your neighbours. Is

:08:50. > :08:55.shocking to think that in this day and age a politician that get a lot

:08:56. > :08:59.of print space and airtime could say something like that. This goes back

:09:00. > :09:04.to an interview he did on Friday to. He said to the interviewer, I think

:09:05. > :09:10.you know the difference between Romanians and Germans. And he said,

:09:11. > :09:16.though I don't. And that is when his spin doctor tried to haul him off

:09:17. > :09:18.air. He has made this mea culpa advert. Unfortunately we can't see

:09:19. > :09:26.it. They have quoted it, sometimes I get things wrong, he also suggested

:09:27. > :09:31.he was tired. I think that does risk opening hymn to other charges. What

:09:32. > :09:35.other mistakes have made. If you are making errors or like this and you

:09:36. > :09:40.are potentially opening yourself up to accusations of casual racism in

:09:41. > :09:43.that way, and we really trust our boat with you? Is very crucial

:09:44. > :09:48.timing. They always had the last 48 hours before the election matters

:09:49. > :09:51.more than the previous 48 weeks. I think this 40 hours is going to be

:09:52. > :09:56.absolutely crucial. Nigel Farage may be locked up in a cupboard somewhere

:09:57. > :10:01.to stop him making more blunders. Is interesting he has taken out a

:10:02. > :10:05.full`page ad. It is almost like they don't want him to say anything more

:10:06. > :10:12.in an interview. Let someone else right! But it doesn't seem to be

:10:13. > :10:15.affecting opinion polls? Labour and the Tories are extremely worried.

:10:16. > :10:20.UKIP may well get the highest percentage. It would be the first

:10:21. > :10:25.time a minority party has a map for decades. Let's look at the other

:10:26. > :10:29.Telegraph story. The search for the four Britons in the Atlantic. It is

:10:30. > :10:34.quite surprising it has only made it to the Telegraph this evening. This

:10:35. > :10:38.really is about the four Britons that have been lost at sea and

:10:39. > :10:42.unfortunately, it seems as though the search has been called off. Even

:10:43. > :10:44.though it seemed that there are indications they could still be a

:10:45. > :10:49.light because we have heard that there are still signals coming from

:10:50. > :10:54.possible lifeboat. They have seen the remains of their boat. You would

:10:55. > :10:59.have thought that given the search has been called off, it might have

:11:00. > :11:05.got more coverage. Absolutely. There was an interview with a local MP

:11:06. > :11:10.from Southampton saying, she was lobbying to try and talk to the US

:11:11. > :11:14.coastguard to reopen the search. The flares seem to be let off in the

:11:15. > :11:18.right order, indicating that they were alive at one stage. And that

:11:19. > :11:24.they are very well trained in survival techniques, the apparently

:11:25. > :11:27.got into the raft, the life raft. The families, and I would be exactly

:11:28. > :11:33.the same is what was my relatives, as long as there is still hope, you

:11:34. > :11:36.cannot search `` stop`and`search. The Express has a front`page

:11:37. > :11:41.photograph that has some BAFTA winners on it. It was very good this

:11:42. > :11:46.evening. We were talking about how billions Graham Norton is. He is

:11:47. > :11:54.mischievous without being offensive. He handled it very well. He was up

:11:55. > :11:58.for two awards himself but lost to the juggernaut that is Ant and Dec.

:11:59. > :12:08.The Queen would lose against those guys. I doubt they would be in the

:12:09. > :12:14.same category. That is true. Anyway, he was very funny introducing the

:12:15. > :12:18.Best Actress award because Olivia Colman one two last year. She said

:12:19. > :12:24.to the other three actors, I am sorry that you are in the same

:12:25. > :12:28.category as Olivia Colman. She gave a lovely... Sometimes when the hood

:12:29. > :12:35.actresses reach into tears... She is so genuine. I think she is very

:12:36. > :12:40.personable. You feel that there is that connection. It is no wonder

:12:41. > :12:46.that she continues to win BAFTAs. She was brilliant in 2012. She is

:12:47. > :12:51.brilliant in everything. I would watch her reading the telephone

:12:52. > :12:57.directory! And with the weather. The Guardian has a photograph, we see

:12:58. > :13:05.somebody... Where are we? Somerset house in London. I enjoy the weather

:13:06. > :13:08.yesterday but today I was picked up in my office. It is brilliant

:13:09. > :13:14.because apparently, reporters are saying it won't end any time soon.

:13:15. > :13:17.Often, you enjoyed weather in London and then they said tomorrow it will

:13:18. > :13:22.back to showers. So far, we will enjoy it for a few more days. Lib I

:13:23. > :13:29.am sorry to say that I enjoyed the weather watching the Arsenal victory

:13:30. > :13:38.parade. He said he wasn't going mention that. I'm sorry, the weather

:13:39. > :13:42.came up and it seemed natural. View in Northern Ireland would not have

:13:43. > :13:50.enjoyed the weather as much. On that note. That is it for the papers.

:13:51. > :13:52.Thank you to my guests. All the news at the top of the hour. But first,

:13:53. > :13:56.the film review.
