:00:00. > :00:00.rain in the north`west of Scotland by the end of the day, that will

:00:00. > :00:00.push further southwards, threatening rain in the south`east in time for

:00:00. > :00:22.the weekend. Hello and welcome to our look ahead

:00:23. > :00:25.to what the papers will be bringing us tomorrow. With me are Eleanor

:00:26. > :00:28.Mills, Editorial Director of The Sunday Times and Owen Jones, the

:00:29. > :00:33.author and columnist for The Guardian. Pretty much all of the

:00:34. > :00:41.front pages are in. Both have a look at them now. `` let's have a look. A

:00:42. > :00:43.police mugshot of Rolf Harris dominates the front page of the

:00:44. > :00:46.Telegraph. The veteran entertainer been found

:00:47. > :00:48.guilty of 12 charges of indecently assaulting four girls.

:00:49. > :00:51.The Metro says some of Rolf Harris's crimes took place while he was

:00:52. > :00:53.fronting a campaign to raise awareness about child abuse.

:00:54. > :00:56.The Guardian shows a picture of Harris leaving court with his

:00:57. > :00:59.family, after hearing the guilty verdicts. The Express also shows the

:01:00. > :01:01.police picture of Rolf Harris. That picture's also on the front of The

:01:02. > :01:03.Mail. The Independent shows Rolf Harris

:01:04. > :01:11.with his self`portrait, alongside the caption Portrait of a Predator.

:01:12. > :01:14.The Financial Times says bankers at BNP Paribas are facing pay cuts,

:01:15. > :01:16.after it agreed to pay a fine of around $9 billion for breaking

:01:17. > :01:20.sanctions laws. The Times leads on an opinion poll

:01:21. > :01:32.by YouGov for the paper on voting intentions in Scotland's

:01:33. > :01:36.independence referendum. We are going to start with the Daily

:01:37. > :01:42.Mail. For 50 years, the face of wholesome family TV. Now we know the

:01:43. > :01:47.truth about Rolf Harris. A story about another man with power and

:01:48. > :01:53.prestige, the national sweetheart who used his celebrity not only to

:01:54. > :01:56.gain access to people he abused, but to protect himself on the basis that

:01:57. > :02:04.no one would ever be able to come forward. If we look at the horror of

:02:05. > :02:07.the incidents he was involved with, the fact that it would happen in

:02:08. > :02:12.public, where he would us all people as young as eight years old and act

:02:13. > :02:15.as though nothing happened. What is important that has come out of this

:02:16. > :02:20.is the sense that, however powerful people are, however much prestige

:02:21. > :02:26.they have to their name, people can come forward. That is important,

:02:27. > :02:31.this Operation Yewtree has had its critics, saying it is in the past

:02:32. > :02:36.and they have been other incidents where people have been found not

:02:37. > :02:40.guilty, it is estimated that 400,000 women are sexually assaulted each

:02:41. > :02:45.year, 80,000 women are raped. Very few and up with guilty convictions.

:02:46. > :02:49.Many people don't come forward. If anything comes out of this, this is

:02:50. > :02:54.what has been set by the prosecution, that people will be

:02:55. > :02:56.able to come forward. This is another horrific example following

:02:57. > :03:03.Jimmy Savile and others using power and prestige. Operation Yewtree came

:03:04. > :03:06.out of the investigation into Jimmy Savile and was widened and as a

:03:07. > :03:13.result the net was thrown across a number of people who were very high

:03:14. > :03:17.profile for a number of years. That sings in for a lot of people as

:03:18. > :03:22.well, that these people they grew up with on TV, people like Rolf

:03:23. > :03:26.Harris, who were a staple in households up and down the country,

:03:27. > :03:32.were actually hiding something much darker behind`the`scenes. It was

:03:33. > :03:39.Rolf Harris, Max Clifford, Stuart Hall, I think what I find

:03:40. > :03:43.interesting is that I hope the sexual mores have changed enough

:03:44. > :03:48.that people would speak out against those kind of president is now. It

:03:49. > :03:55.is about deference and a match Okore cha, it was about stars who seemed

:03:56. > :03:59.to be above everything `` culture. What is heart`wrenching is the

:04:00. > :04:03.stories about the victims. The tabloids are doing Jimmy Savile and

:04:04. > :04:07.Rolf Harris and how they went together to Broadmoor, they used to

:04:08. > :04:12.watch women are dressing and so on. There may have been some collusion

:04:13. > :04:15.going on, which sounds grim. There is a sense that these men thought

:04:16. > :04:21.they were entirely above the law, omnipotent, they absolutely used

:04:22. > :04:26.their power over people to get their way for a long time. What is awful

:04:27. > :04:31.is the tales from the victims. There is a brave Australian woman called

:04:32. > :04:35.Tonia, who waved her anonymity to speak about it and she speaks about

:04:36. > :04:40.being 15, sitting on his lap and what he did with other people

:04:41. > :04:46.around. It is the brazenness of it. This man assaulted his 13`year`old

:04:47. > :04:49.daughter's best friend while she is lying next to him. He revelled in

:04:50. > :04:53.the power that he could do this in plain sight and no one would pass

:04:54. > :05:02.him. It must have been an amazing power rush for him. `` bust him.

:05:03. > :05:07.That is why justice is so important. It is why I hope people no one feels

:05:08. > :05:13.they are above the law. If we go to the times. Rolf Harris has 40 years

:05:14. > :05:19.of depravity `` Rolf Harris's. Eating up on the point made, and the

:05:20. > :05:22.point made by the public prosecution, who helped bring the

:05:23. > :05:27.charges against Rolf Harris, he made the point that no one is above the

:05:28. > :05:32.law `` bringing up on the point. Hopefully, the sexual mores have

:05:33. > :05:37.changed and developed and hopefully, no one in a position of fame or what

:05:38. > :05:44.ever will feel they can get away with it. If only things have

:05:45. > :05:48.changed. Statistics show it is the case that most people sexually ``

:05:49. > :05:53.who are sexually assaulted are raped come forward and very few get guilty

:05:54. > :06:01.verdicts. Is that due to the police? It is, yes. The possessions

:06:02. > :06:07.of these massive cases are changing. `` perceptions. What is it they

:06:08. > :06:11.discovered about Jimmy Savile? People saying, he did it to me also.

:06:12. > :06:16.They could not do that while he was alive, which is awful. The

:06:17. > :06:19.floodgates have opened. I don't think someone would reckon they

:06:20. > :06:27.could get away with this. You disagree? That has to be the hope.

:06:28. > :06:30.We have moved on from this narrative and this commentary but there were

:06:31. > :06:34.some critics of Operation Yewtree who said this was in the past. A

:06:35. > :06:37.sense people pushing of false accusations, how the real victims

:06:38. > :06:43.are the people who were falsely accused. Who were all represented by

:06:44. > :06:47.Max Clifford, one of the worst ringleaders. The point that we

:06:48. > :06:51.should focus on is that there are so many people in this country who are

:06:52. > :06:56.victims of sexual violence who never get justice. That is why these cases

:06:57. > :07:00.are important. All of us, let's be honest, saw this today and instantly

:07:01. > :07:07.a lot of us thought, my word, that is part of my childhood. A cultural

:07:08. > :07:11.violation of everyone. That is what protected these people in the first

:07:12. > :07:16.place. Rolf Harris? The beloved artist. He couldn't do something

:07:17. > :07:22.like this. He draws bunny ears and animals. Rape is always about

:07:23. > :07:29.power. It isn't about lust or Selt shall attraction. It is totally

:07:30. > :07:33.about power. `` sexual attraction. These people know they have this

:07:34. > :07:38.power that they can wield. That is how they get a kick out of it. It is

:07:39. > :07:48.frightening. We need to look broader, beyond the celebrities. It

:07:49. > :07:54.was a culture in which old, powerful men had a sense of themselves about

:07:55. > :07:57.`` around the women around them. You hear the narrative about men not

:07:58. > :08:02.being safe in taxis and that it was up to women to deal with it and

:08:03. > :08:06.fight them off. There is a shift in the society now. Everyday sexism,

:08:07. > :08:14.pointing this out. There is much more of a sense that women are more

:08:15. > :08:21.empowered. If anything comes out of it, it has to be a good thing. Those

:08:22. > :08:28.campaigns are hugely inspiring initiatives. What they do show

:08:29. > :08:31.is... How prevalent it is. The objectification of women by men.

:08:32. > :08:36.That is why we cannot separate rape from the broader sense. It is the

:08:37. > :08:39.case in society that women are treated as sexual objects to exist

:08:40. > :08:45.for the gratification of men, which we need to fight. It is almost

:08:46. > :08:51.becoming worse. Internet porn and the extreme varieties of VAT, which

:08:52. > :08:56.are so available everywhere and two very young kids, is fuelling the

:08:57. > :09:04.worse objectification of women that we have seen `` varieties of that.

:09:05. > :09:12.We must be aware of that and campaigned against it. Let's move on

:09:13. > :09:18.to the Guardian. The bottom they are, Israel says Hamas will pay

:09:19. > :09:27.after teenagers are found dead. The voice of Israeli people will be for

:09:28. > :09:30.the call for some kind of military response to the discovery these

:09:31. > :09:37.three teenagers kidnapped weeks ago have been found dead. How awful for

:09:38. > :09:42.the families, that they have been found dead and they are so young.

:09:43. > :09:48.Missing while hitchhiking back from school. At the centre of that is a

:09:49. > :09:52.real human tragedy. There will be far more tragedy because what always

:09:53. > :09:57.seems to happen in Israel is that you get a terrible thing will happen

:09:58. > :10:00.and Israeli authorities say it was Hamas already and 500 people have

:10:01. > :10:06.been rounded up and there have been raids. What has been clear from

:10:07. > :10:12.Netanyahu and the economy minister, they say that now is the time to act

:10:13. > :10:15.and there will be reprisals against Hamas and Palestinians who are seen

:10:16. > :10:21.as the people who killed these children. It is awful for the

:10:22. > :10:28.Israeli families. There has to be a fear of a wider conflation, more

:10:29. > :10:32.hostility, horrible things happening. We have the caliphate

:10:33. > :10:39.announced by ISIS. Terrible things going on in Syria and Iraq, it is

:10:40. > :10:46.depressing. A word we will hear a lot of his proportionality and what

:10:47. > :10:52.kind of response is warranted from Israel, who claim that it is Hamas

:10:53. > :10:59.who are responsible for the deaths of these teenagers `` is

:11:00. > :11:06.proportionality. These deaths are horrific and sickening crimes which

:11:07. > :11:10.have torn entire families apart and have provoked a huge emotional

:11:11. > :11:15.reaction. We must learn about five Palestinians have been killed as a

:11:16. > :11:25.response to raids which followed the disappearance of these three lads

:11:26. > :11:32.who have been murdered horribly. We have five people dead, life is our

:11:33. > :11:37.life and death is a death. The danger is collective punishment that

:11:38. > :11:41.might follow the deaths of these young teenagers. That there won't be

:11:42. > :11:44.a proportionate response. Everyone will support justice. Those

:11:45. > :11:48.responsible must be taken to justice. Where you have a Nokia

:11:49. > :11:53.nation that remains and is a illegal under international law, where you

:11:54. > :11:58.have Israel committing, in response to other acts of disproportionate

:11:59. > :12:03.responses, where innocent people die, the danger is that these wind,

:12:04. > :12:07.the five Palestinians who have died in the three young teenagers who

:12:08. > :12:11.have been killed, that will not be the only death we see. If there is a

:12:12. > :12:15.disproportionate response, it will end in the deaths of people on both

:12:16. > :12:19.sides, which we need to be levelheaded about, because the

:12:20. > :12:21.danger is now, in Israel, there will be such an emotional response it

:12:22. > :12:27.will be manipulated to support that angle. It has been said already

:12:28. > :12:33.there needs to be a widespread operation to eradicate Hamas. Israel

:12:34. > :12:36.claimed that Hamas are responsible and claim they have evidence they

:12:37. > :12:45.are responsible. Is the evidence is there that Hamas leadership is

:12:46. > :12:49.connected with what happened? From this story, there don't seem to be,

:12:50. > :12:53.and from what one reads in the paper, it does not seem to be this

:12:54. > :12:59.person was ordered by this Hamas commander to do this. You would

:13:00. > :13:04.wonder why Hamas would order the execution of three young Israeli

:13:05. > :13:08.boys. They know what is likely to come down on them from the Israeli

:13:09. > :13:16.army if that was the case. Why would you do it? I think it is incredibly

:13:17. > :13:23.sad and awful and it will be even more horrible violence. Israeli

:13:24. > :13:29.intelligence say they have the names of the people involved. There needs

:13:30. > :13:34.to be a proper judicial response. Due process. Not collective

:13:35. > :13:39.punishment where it innocent civilians die. It has already

:13:40. > :13:44.happened as a result. That never happens in Israel. You get a tribal

:13:45. > :13:53.setting up against each other, in a place that is already full of

:13:54. > :14:02.inflamed tension. Let's go on to the Sun, the back page. Mr Suarez. I am

:14:03. > :14:09.sorry. In brackets they have, can I join Barcelona now? This guy has

:14:10. > :14:14.beaten three members of opposing teams over the last three years.

:14:15. > :14:20.Three! This is the first time he has apologised. Why? He wants to go to

:14:21. > :14:26.Spain. He accidentally fell over and his teeth happened to collide with

:14:27. > :14:30.an innocent shoulder. Normal rough and tumble of a contact sport. Would

:14:31. > :14:35.you believe that if your kids at that? Did you read the statement?

:14:36. > :14:39.What appears to have happened is the man happens to have been bitten as I

:14:40. > :14:45.passed him. Today, he says he did it. That's what it says in the

:14:46. > :14:51.statement. The rumours are this is his attempt to get to Barcelona.

:14:52. > :14:55.Unless he apologises, psychologist has said that if he has beaten

:14:56. > :14:58.someone already, he will do it again. There is something clearly

:14:59. > :15:06.going on. There are other controversies. It is weird to go

:15:07. > :15:10.around biting. Zombielike response. Let's not discuss his mental state

:15:11. > :15:20.to note. It will take too long. The Daily Telegraph. `` tonight. You

:15:21. > :15:24.aren't selling it to me, we aren't interested. I am sorry, this is a

:15:25. > :15:29.massive story. The Daily Telegraph said, so much for summer, autumn is

:15:30. > :15:33.here already. This hinges on beech nuts and butterflies which are

:15:34. > :15:41.already here. And, raspberries are out early. My mum is making jam.

:15:42. > :15:48.That is the kiss of death. The barbecue summer. The Express rarely

:15:49. > :15:58.get it wrong. Analysis shows. I don't think it feels autumnal. It is

:15:59. > :16:05.a typical summer. It definitely cannot reign. You are in trouble,

:16:06. > :16:11.love. Many thanks. Much appreciated. Stay with us. We will have more of

:16:12. > :16:15.the fallout from the guilty verdicts against Rolf Harris, guilty

:16:16. > :16:17.of indecently assaulting four girls and women. Now, it is time for World

:16:18. > :16:20.Cup Sportsday.
