:00:00. > :00:08.work on Radio one and the Late, Late Breakfast Show. Coming up on

:00:09. > :00:21.Sportsday, Tom Daley wins gold in the ten metres diving platform.

:00:22. > :00:29.Welcome to our look at what the newspapers will be ringing us

:00:30. > :00:35.tomorrow. Thank you for joining us. Time for a look at the front pages.

:00:36. > :00:39.The Observer has claims from the Scottish National Party that the

:00:40. > :00:43.success of the Commonwealth Games will boost the independence

:00:44. > :00:47.campaign. The Sunday Times says Boris Johnson will tell David

:00:48. > :00:50.Cameron that he must be prepared to leave the EU if he wants a better

:00:51. > :00:55.deal from Brussels. The Sunday Telegraph leads on Gaza and an

:00:56. > :01:01.interview with Philip Hammond, who says the public is deeply disturbed

:01:02. > :01:04.by the fighting. The conflict is also the top story in the

:01:05. > :01:08.Independent on Sunday, with the paper focusing on a row between the

:01:09. > :01:12.Conservatives and Labour leaders. The Mail on Sunday says the UK is to

:01:13. > :01:16.get its first NHS funded national sperm bank to make it easier for

:01:17. > :01:21.lesbian couples and single women to have children.

:01:22. > :01:27.This evening, we will begin with Gaza, which has been dominating our

:01:28. > :01:32.news for the last few days. Looking at it from the Independent on

:01:33. > :01:35.Sunday's point of view, David Cameron and Ed Miliband are in a

:01:36. > :01:40.furious row over Gaza. A political story and one that suggests that the

:01:41. > :01:45.two leaders are attacking each other on this. Yes, this was sparked by a

:01:46. > :01:49.statement earlier today by Ed Miliband, bluntly criticising the

:01:50. > :01:54.Prime Minister for not condemning what Israel is doing enough. Ed

:01:55. > :01:58.Miliband makes the point that there should obviously be a ceasefire and

:01:59. > :02:03.both sides are in the wrong, and he does say that there has been an

:02:04. > :02:06.inexplicable silence from the Prime Minister on these continued attacks

:02:07. > :02:11.on civilians in Gaza. He says the Prime Minister should show more

:02:12. > :02:15.leadership. This is awkward as the Prime Minister has just left for a

:02:16. > :02:20.holiday in Portugal. His office has hit back, saying it is shocked that

:02:21. > :02:25.they see the leader is playing politics over such a serious issue.

:02:26. > :02:31.A big fight over a very important matter. Normally, they tried to

:02:32. > :02:38.speak with a united voice over such things. Yes, it is strange, really.

:02:39. > :02:42.Ed Miliband is Jewish and he has come out strongly saying that Israel

:02:43. > :02:48.is wrong and unjustified in the level of violence that it has been

:02:49. > :02:57.raining down on the citizens of Gaza. He has also criticised Hamas

:02:58. > :03:00.as well but his line of fire is really to attack David Cameron for

:03:01. > :03:05.not doing enough and not being active enough in making sure Britain

:03:06. > :03:11.takes a lead. Do you think people watching night after night this

:03:12. > :03:14.relentless bombardment, do you not think we are all a bit unsure of

:03:15. > :03:19.which side we should be on? I mean... I'm not sure even Philip

:03:20. > :03:22.Hammond has got it right in the Sunday Telegraph. People now think

:03:23. > :03:26.the balance has shifted away from Israel because they just see

:03:27. > :03:32.innocent civilians and children in the firing line and I just

:03:33. > :03:37.wonder... You can never get it right but people are thinking, hang on,

:03:38. > :03:43.Israel. You have a good case but you have got to stop killing civilians.

:03:44. > :03:45.And the graphic pictures as well. Let's look at these comments in the

:03:46. > :04:05.It is a weekly, really. `` week Sunday Telegraph. The condemnation

:04:06. > :04:10.It is a weekly, really. `` week lead. He has talked a little bit

:04:11. > :04:20.about this and a little bit about that. He has talked about Ebola and

:04:21. > :04:27.commerce to send support if any British citizens who are brought to

:04:28. > :04:34.come infected. Given the economic recovery in the UK. `` even. He has

:04:35. > :04:41.talked about the potential for an increase in anti`Semitic attacks in

:04:42. > :04:46.Britain. Why should that happen? Do you really think that is going to

:04:47. > :04:53.happen? I do not think so. It is a measure at interview. The situation

:04:54. > :04:59.is intolerable in Gaza and something must be done. Frankly, thank you

:05:00. > :05:07.very much, tell us something we do not know. He does not seem to have a

:05:08. > :05:15.solution. Not really taking a strong leader that we want to see. It is

:05:16. > :05:18.that lack of a solution that makes Ed Miliband's comments so

:05:19. > :05:26.interesting. He is almost trying to get the Prime Minister to say he has

:05:27. > :05:33.got a solution. He is also trying to drive a wedge between the Prime

:05:34. > :05:40.Minister and Nick Clegg. David Cameron has been a bit more

:05:41. > :05:44.measured. There is a little bit of political manoeuvring. He knows the

:05:45. > :05:51.Prime Minister has just gone off on holiday. It is a bit mean. Right

:05:52. > :06:00.now, when the world could be on the brink of war. Maybe it is not the

:06:01. > :06:04.best time to go off on holiday. Change onto the Observer now. A much

:06:05. > :06:14.happier story all around, the Commonwealth Games. Nicola Adams.

:06:15. > :06:22.Who narrowly beat my fellow countrywoman from Northern Ireland.

:06:23. > :06:27.She thinks she was robbed. A split decision. It is the friendly games,

:06:28. > :06:34.we do not discuss these results. I think she is a wonderful athlete.

:06:35. > :06:45.You cannot have a sport nowadays, if the men can do it, the women can do

:06:46. > :06:56.it. This story is more about an interview with sturgeon. She

:06:57. > :07:11.believes the record`breaking performance has led to an interest

:07:12. > :07:18.in the country. She has a point. Any sporting triumph does have a bounce

:07:19. > :07:26.the fact. `` effect. It is not until you get knocked out. In this

:07:27. > :07:33.situation, the Commonwealth Games has been a great success. The lovely

:07:34. > :07:40.weather has helped. The wonderful spread of medals. Fantastic

:07:41. > :07:44.performances. Do the politicians actually think this will have any

:07:45. > :07:50.effect? I do not think so. Had the games been a disaster, it might have

:07:51. > :07:56.reinforced the no vote. The fact it has been a success, I am not sure it

:07:57. > :08:02.could make a difference. I think probably we are looking at a no,

:08:03. > :08:10.rather than a yes. Do you want a fiver on it? There will not be much

:08:11. > :08:15.else happening ahead of the vote on Scottish independence. I think we

:08:16. > :08:20.will see a lot more on this. The Observer has done rather well to tie

:08:21. > :08:23.together a series story with what is going on with the common scams. You

:08:24. > :08:31.will have to make your bets off BBC premises. `` Commonwealth Games.

:08:32. > :08:38.Boris Johnson is said to be warning the Prime Minister that the only way

:08:39. > :08:44.to win reformed is to threaten or be prepared to leave the union. Who

:08:45. > :08:47.would thought Boris Johnson is appealing to the conservative

:08:48. > :08:53.grassroots by saying it you should be ready to leave the EU? This is

:08:54. > :08:59.based on one of his economic advisers. He is going to suggest

:09:00. > :09:05.that unless major reforms happen in the European Union, Britain should

:09:06. > :09:08.be ready to leave. That is the kind of thing that most Conservatives are

:09:09. > :09:12.saying. He is just reinforcing that message. It is a way of getting a

:09:13. > :09:20.popular conservative onto the front of the Sunday Times. Everybody wants

:09:21. > :09:29.to know if Boris Johnson is to finally put up or shut up and become

:09:30. > :09:40.an MP and eventually take over from David Cameron. Smart money was to

:09:41. > :09:50.mark her nose. ``? Who knows. Isn't it just a bit of sabre rattling?

:09:51. > :09:58.Just in case he ends up in the chair and it is also setting up the EU for

:09:59. > :10:06.renegotiation. He is reminding people that he is still there. David

:10:07. > :10:13.Cameron is in Portugal. Elsewhere on the Sunday Times. News or

:10:14. > :10:25.speculation that the star of the apprentice will be made a Tory peer.

:10:26. > :10:32.Lord sugar is a Labour peer. I never know where these leaks come from.

:10:33. > :10:41.They are usually be well sourced. `` pretty. I think there has been a

:10:42. > :10:47.good idea. She has proved herself in the arenas of sport and business and

:10:48. > :10:56.on television. She is a thoroughly good egg, in my opinion. She might

:10:57. > :11:02.liven up the House of Lords. I think there will be some these trembling

:11:03. > :11:07.in the House of Lords. Alan sugar has already been on Twitter saying

:11:08. > :11:17.it would be a great idea. Does need some younger blood. Some more

:11:18. > :11:26.competent women. The Mail on Sunday. NHS to find sperm bank for lesbians.

:11:27. > :11:33.`` fund. That is going to get Daily Mail readers I rate, I would have

:11:34. > :11:38.thought. He has to think very hard how he can upset his readership, his

:11:39. > :11:47.constituency, every Sunday. This will probably get them going. This

:11:48. > :11:53.particular sperm bank idea will also be available for heterosexual

:11:54. > :11:58.couples. The lion that is intended to anger is that it will be

:11:59. > :12:06.available to lesbians. Same`sex couples are fully intended to have a

:12:07. > :12:16.family as anyone else, why not? Interesting front page. The headline

:12:17. > :12:24.a rather different story altogether. Allegations about Russel Brand.

:12:25. > :12:30.Thank you very much for your input. I think Gaza will dominate those of

:12:31. > :12:38.the papers and inside pages. Thank you both for that. Every day we

:12:39. > :12:43.discuss the papers on BBC News. With the Commonwealth Games drawing to a

:12:44. > :12:49.close tomorrow, it is of course the closing ceremony with Kylie Minogue

:12:50. > :12:52.going to be the headline act. We will cross to Glasgow and have a

:12:53. > :12:54.look at the Commonwealth Games Sportsday.
