:00:00. > :00:15.Andy Murray is through to the finals. `` wins silver.
:00:16. > :00:20.Hello and welcome to our look ahead to what the papers will be bringing
:00:21. > :00:22.us tomorrow. With me are Kate Devlin, the Westminster
:00:23. > :00:23.correspondent for the Herald, and Amol Rajan, editor of the
:00:24. > :00:31.Independent. The Daily Mail headlines the police
:00:32. > :00:34.search of a property in Berkshire owned by Sir Cliff Richard, in
:00:35. > :00:39.connection with an allegation of a sexual nature dating back to the
:00:40. > :00:41.1980s. Sir Cliff says he's totally innocent.
:00:42. > :00:43.The Sun says the pop star faces questioning by police when he
:00:44. > :00:48.returns from his holiday in Portugal. That story also features
:00:49. > :00:51.on front page of The Daily Telegraph. The paper also headlines
:00:52. > :00:56.the thousands have been saved from Mount
:00:57. > :01:00.Sinjar. The Financial Times leads with the news that eurozone recovery
:01:01. > :01:03.has shuddered to a halt. The Guardian reports that the UK is
:01:04. > :01:08.ready to arm Kurds to help forces fighting IS. And it pictures
:01:09. > :01:12.teachers jumping with joy after the success
:01:13. > :01:14.Staying with A`level results, the Times says exams are ending the
:01:15. > :01:19.class divide as poorer teenagers are ignoring debt worries and are
:01:20. > :01:21.surging into universities. Finally, the Independent pictures the
:01:22. > :01:30.controversial Russian aid convey bound for the Ukraine. It has exams
:01:31. > :01:35.on the front page, too. It's headline ` 'Gove gets his A`level
:01:36. > :01:40.results'. `` its headline.
:01:41. > :01:52.That's one of my favourite headlines tonight. Let's look at The Daily
:01:53. > :01:55.Mail. One of a number of papers that has the allegations regarding Sir
:01:56. > :02:00.Cliff Richard on its front page. I'm totally innocent, it says. Police
:02:01. > :02:08.raid his home after claims of sexual assault. He denies that there is any
:02:09. > :02:11.truth in these allegations. He is out of the country at the moment but
:02:12. > :02:21.says he will co`operate with police fully. Moving onto the Times. It
:02:22. > :02:30.poised to armed Kurdish forces against
:02:31. > :02:33.help tackle the jihadists who have taken over a huge swathe of Iraq and
:02:34. > :02:50.Syria. and meanwhile large swathes of Syria
:02:51. > :02:55.and north`western Iraq have been taken over by the Islamic State.
:02:56. > :03:00.What this story signifies is that Britain is now involved in military
:03:01. > :03:03.operations in Iraq. It's a different Iraq to that which was invaded by
:03:04. > :03:08.the West many years ago and it is different involvement. Technical
:03:09. > :03:15.support, surveillance. But Britain is engaged in that region again. The
:03:16. > :03:25.idea is to help the PKK, this Turkish group, fight the onslaught
:03:26. > :03:31.of Isis. `` Kurdish group. The UK and US will want to make that
:03:32. > :03:39.distinction, but it is not troops on the ground. That's right, but I
:03:40. > :03:43.think they will also be quite keen to make sure that it answers the
:03:44. > :03:49.people they've been quite annoyed about all week, the people who think
:03:50. > :03:54.something must be done. We've seen quite a few Conservative MPs, some
:03:55. > :03:59.very high profile, former senior army people as well making that kind
:04:00. > :04:04.of argument. There's been quite a bit of frustration in Downing Street
:04:05. > :04:08.about that. People have been putting a lot of pressure on without
:04:09. > :04:11.understanding how difficult it is to make these decisions. This will at
:04:12. > :04:17.least say, we are doing something. But the public point of view surely
:04:18. > :04:23.will be somewhat moved by the plight of the Aussie `` Yazidis in
:04:24. > :04:35.particular? The line that came out today, they say things are as bad on
:04:36. > :04:39.the mountain as they fault. The Yazidis, the persecuted minority,
:04:40. > :04:49.are being helped, which is a good thing. `` are as bad as they feared.
:04:50. > :04:55.But people will be moved by the humanitarian situation and they will
:04:56. > :04:58.also be moved by what IS are doing. These guys are mediaeval in their
:04:59. > :05:03.outlook and are killing on site at the moment. There will be some
:05:04. > :05:07.impulse to try to resist their advance. Staying with the Times, the
:05:08. > :05:14.A`level results. Exams and class divide, it says. A`levels results
:05:15. > :05:23.sees poorer people surging into university and A`level pupils from
:05:24. > :05:30.Ashford in Surrey who are invited to form part to open their envelopes.
:05:31. > :05:34.It will be interesting to see the divide between what girls and boys
:05:35. > :05:39.are getting. Often we say girls surge ahead. We haven't got the
:05:40. > :05:44.break down yet. Interesting if this headline turns out to be true, that
:05:45. > :05:48.people say it will cost me money but I'll go anyway to university because
:05:49. > :05:53.in the long run it will pay me to do it. I think it's a great picture for
:05:54. > :05:56.lots of reasons. It is a version of the classic girls jumping up and
:05:57. > :06:02.A`level results and they look so happy. So pleased. It is probably a
:06:03. > :06:09.really good year to be going to university. We saw today that people
:06:10. > :06:17.are getting offers of iPad is, `` iPads, one university is offering
:06:18. > :06:21.students free flights home. But I just wonder if maybe there is a bit
:06:22. > :06:28.of a sting in the tail, that more people are going to university...
:06:29. > :06:32.The government says it is what it wants to do but they also say it
:06:33. > :06:35.will cost a lot of money. The way they say they will pay for it is
:06:36. > :06:40.they will sell off the student loans book. Vince Cable said that wasn't
:06:41. > :06:44.going to happen a couple of weeks ago, not least because they wouldn't
:06:45. > :06:50.be able to get enough money for it. There's a financial reckoning coming
:06:51. > :06:55.form this today. `` coming from. Political context is interesting.
:06:56. > :07:01.The way in which the Times have presented this. This idea that the
:07:02. > :07:10.results and is the class divide comes after years of protests over
:07:11. > :07:15.tuition fees. Many people worry `` people worry that's resulting in
:07:16. > :07:21.some people not going to university. We have some evidence that free
:07:22. > :07:28.schools are sending people to top universities. This is a politically
:07:29. > :07:30.loaded story. Let's look at the Guardian Row. We have to give the
:07:31. > :07:38.teachers some credit. Jumping for joy. `` Guardian. People from
:07:39. > :07:44.Bristol celebrating their success. What strikes me as peculiar is all
:07:45. > :07:49.these years when teachers have been knocked because their results have
:07:50. > :07:52.gone up, this year they aren't getting criticised even though
:07:53. > :07:57.results have gone down a little bit. It seems back to front. I don't
:07:58. > :08:00.think teachers can win. They feel very persecuted. They get all this
:08:01. > :08:05.interference. I don't want to compare them to the Yazidis, which
:08:06. > :08:12.is very different, but teachers in Britain feel they can't do anything
:08:13. > :08:15.right. A `` A`levels is a wonderful story of achievement. We should be
:08:16. > :08:22.applauding all of the students today. Absolutely. The Independent.
:08:23. > :08:27.Collision course. Eastern Europe edges closer to war, why is the
:08:28. > :08:31.Western looking the other way? This is an aid convoy, according to
:08:32. > :08:36.Moscow, that's taking aid to rebel held areas in Ukraine. The suspicion
:08:37. > :08:38.in Kiev is there is some kind of military support mustering on the
:08:39. > :08:44.border. The thing that's incredible about this story is that with most
:08:45. > :08:47.complex, with most hotspots around the world, you can get a pretty
:08:48. > :08:52.decent grasp of what's going on when you speak to state agencies and
:08:53. > :08:59.journalists on the ground. The fact is there's an extraordinary
:09:00. > :09:07.propaganda exercise going on. There are 300 big vans heading from Moscow
:09:08. > :09:11.to the eastern edge of the Ukraine. Moscow says they are full of aid and
:09:12. > :09:17.are to support the people of Ukraine. Ukrainians are they aren't
:09:18. > :09:20.sure about that, this doesn't make sense to us. So, guitar to know
:09:21. > :09:24.what's going on. What we can be sure of is many vehicles are moving
:09:25. > :09:29.towards Ukraine and will reach there soon. `` it's hard to know. Someone
:09:30. > :09:38.said the other day to me, a Russian friend, why isn't this being
:09:39. > :09:43.reported further up the bulletins? Because more than 2000 people have
:09:44. > :09:47.died since the middle of April. Yes. There has been a lot of reporting.
:09:48. > :09:52.Part of it has been it has been difficult to work out what is going
:09:53. > :09:54.on and part of it has been that the international community has
:09:55. > :10:00.struggled to respond to this. What this definitely shows is that Russia
:10:01. > :10:03.is not backing down. We've had a massive increase in sanctions a
:10:04. > :10:13.couple of weeks ago and it's basically a huge 300 law white van
:10:14. > :10:20.convoy, saying we won't back down. `` long. Talks over the Stirling.
:10:21. > :10:24.This is in the Scotsman. The suggestion is that technical talks
:10:25. > :10:29.have or haven't taken place between the yes for independence campaign
:10:30. > :10:32.and the Bank of England. In some ways it is an argument over
:10:33. > :10:37.definitions but what it really shows is that Alex Salmond is finding it
:10:38. > :10:44.impossible to change the conversation and he isn't being able
:10:45. > :10:51.to change the conversation away from what an `` what currency and
:10:52. > :10:55.independent Scotland would have. This argument on the front pages
:10:56. > :10:58.about whether or not they have the technical discussion, not that
:10:59. > :11:02.they've actually set you can't have Stirling. It's about whether or not
:11:03. > :11:08.the conversation took face. It doesn't make much sense. On the one
:11:09. > :11:13.hand, the finance secretary says they have had discussions. The Bank
:11:14. > :11:17.of England says they haven't. Presumably they've had some kind of
:11:18. > :11:21.discussion but it's a question about whether it is technical discussion,
:11:22. > :11:30.what about the currency. It is a strange story. It looks like the
:11:31. > :11:39.vote is going to go towards staying together. It is an incredibly hot
:11:40. > :11:44.subject. As you say, this issue of the currency just won't go away. You
:11:45. > :11:48.are close to the star. He wouldn't have predicted 12 months ago that it
:11:49. > :11:54.was all about the currency. Someone decided strategically to go over the
:11:55. > :11:57.`` go after the currency. It's a real pound in your pocket argument
:11:58. > :12:02.and it seems to be hitting home. At this stage, the SNP would not want
:12:03. > :12:07.the main thing... This is on the front of our newspaper as well. They
:12:08. > :12:11.wouldn't want a massive row with the Bank of England a couple of weeks
:12:12. > :12:16.before this. It would affect their credibility. Yes. I think Mark
:12:17. > :12:20.Carney has also left a problem for the UK government, because he
:12:21. > :12:28.announced yesterday that he was doing contingency planning for an
:12:29. > :12:31.independent Scotland. There's a lot of pressure now on the UK
:12:32. > :12:34.government, which has said for months that it is doing no
:12:35. > :12:39.contingency planning. The Ministry of Defence insisted this afternoon
:12:40. > :12:43.that it was still doing no planning... Coming really believe
:12:44. > :12:47.the Bank of England wouldn't do something and have a think about it?
:12:48. > :12:52.Contingency planning is what they do at the Bank of England! You would
:12:53. > :12:56.hope so! The Ministry of Defence is claiming that it isn't doing it.
:12:57. > :13:01.There is a contingency planning committee somewhere, I'm sure. If
:13:02. > :13:06.there is a yes vote, I feel a very senior servant will be able to go to
:13:07. > :13:08.that `` the Defence Secretary and stay, we just happen to have this
:13:09. > :13:13.report. Yes, in a bottom drawer somewhere.
:13:14. > :13:23.Let's have a look at the Daily Mirror. Robin Williams and his
:13:24. > :13:34.wife, Susan Scneider, on the top. It is right at the top. What are we
:13:35. > :13:38.looking at? This is the revelation that in addition to having struggled
:13:39. > :13:45.with drink and drug addiction of the years, and anxiety and depression,
:13:46. > :13:50.he was having to get used to the idea of having Parkinson's disease.
:13:51. > :13:54.It is difficult to speculate on causes but the implication of this
:13:55. > :13:58.is one of the things that led to his sad and was a new medical
:13:59. > :14:02.realisation. But what we discussed earlier, it is impossible for
:14:03. > :14:12.someone like Robin Williams to grieve privately. His daughter had
:14:13. > :14:20.to come off Twitter because of the abuse. It makes you feel sick, the
:14:21. > :14:24.way people, because they are public figures, can't remain private. The
:14:25. > :14:30.other thing is he was sober when it happened. It must be difficult for a
:14:31. > :14:32.wife who has lost her husband. Some of the terms being used in very
:14:33. > :14:56.premature. Downton Abbey is returning to our
:14:57. > :15:05.screens. There is a picture of Lady Edith and Lord Grantham. There is a
:15:06. > :15:12.water bottle that was left on the set. I wonder how often that
:15:13. > :15:19.happens. It is the difficulty with recreating the period. My heart goes
:15:20. > :15:28.out to them. It must be incredibly difficult. They have put so much
:15:29. > :15:34.work in. It is inconceivable that it would be this much of a problem
:15:35. > :15:40.before Twitter. It just goes out so fast. Ten years ago, they would have
:15:41. > :15:55.done another picture. Now they are stuffed. And who cares? We are
:15:56. > :16:04.talking about it. That is The Papers. Stay with us after midnight.
:16:05. > :16:07.We have more details about Cliff Richard and his apartment being
:16:08. > :16:19.searched after allegations of a historic sex offence.
:16:20. > :16:28.Hello and welcome to Sportsday. I'm Nina Warhurst. Two days before the
:16:29. > :16:30.first ball is even kicked,
