:00:00. > :00:13.and we will talk about how England's cricketers might fare in

:00:14. > :00:17.retaining its next title `` their next title.

:00:18. > :00:21.Hello and welcome to our look ahead to what the papers will be bringing

:00:22. > :00:23.us tomorrow. Joining me from Inverness is Broadcaster and

:00:24. > :00:26.Journalist, Nicky Marr, and with me in the studio is Professor of Law at

:00:27. > :00:36.Pepperdine University, Colleen Graffy. It is good to have you both

:00:37. > :00:40.with us. Tomorrow's front pages, starting with... The Financial Times

:00:41. > :00:43.claims European Commission President Jean`Claude Juncker has offered

:00:44. > :00:46.David Cameron an "olive branch", by giving the UK's Lord Hill a key job

:00:47. > :00:50.overseeing EU finances. Money matters also dominate the front of

:00:51. > :00:53.the Daily Telegraph. This time it's the Bank of England governor's

:00:54. > :00:57.warning that Scotland may struggle to keep the pound, if it becomes

:00:58. > :01:00.independent. Scotland's Daily Record claims it's been a "Black Wednesday"

:01:01. > :01:07.for First Minister Alex Salmond, as a poll for the paper suggests the no

:01:08. > :01:10.campaign has a clear lead. The Guardian quotes fears that mortgage

:01:11. > :01:15.lending could dry up for Scottish homebuyers if Scotland votes for

:01:16. > :01:18.independence. Ed Miliband, Nick Clegg and David Cameron are pictured

:01:19. > :01:21.on the front of the Metro, with the headline "United We Stand". They're

:01:22. > :01:24.joined forces to try to persuade Scotland to vote against

:01:25. > :01:29.independence. The I also focuses on the Westminster leaders campaigning

:01:30. > :01:34.in Scotland. A different weighty issue make the front page of the

:01:35. > :01:37.Times. They have the results of a study, which claims shaming and

:01:38. > :01:41.blaming overweight people only makes them heavier. And The Sun shows a

:01:42. > :01:53.picture of a security guard, who has become the first man to be signed

:01:54. > :02:06.off work with morning sickness. A bit of transference there one

:02:07. > :02:10.supposes. I have no idea at all! The Independent, the scramble for

:02:11. > :02:20.Scotland, a picture of the heavyweight political leaders all

:02:21. > :02:27.trying to sway votes. It has been a big day. It certainly has. I'm not

:02:28. > :02:33.sure if Scotland has had as many heavyweights here before at one

:02:34. > :02:38.time. It is an absolute scramble and since Sunday and that poll which put

:02:39. > :02:51.the Yes campaign slightly ahead, it has been a little bit undignified.

:02:52. > :03:00.Undignified? Do you think it has? No, I think it is just fascinating.

:03:01. > :03:04.The newspapers are incredibly exciting and dive question, has

:03:05. > :03:09.there been a development between how people are thinking... Is it with

:03:10. > :03:18.the head or the heart? Everyone is making comments about that `` and I

:03:19. > :03:26.have a question. Everyone is thinking it's a sort of movie style

:03:27. > :03:32.independence brigade, is that the change in the poll? What is

:03:33. > :03:38.happening? We have to remember that this is just one poll. The only one

:03:39. > :03:42.that matters is the one on the 18th which will decide whether or not

:03:43. > :03:50.Scotland will become independent. One pulled this way, one poll that

:03:51. > :03:58.way `` one poll. We have been living with this for the last couple of

:03:59. > :04:03.years. It is a bit of heart and head and I think that is why so many

:04:04. > :04:07.people are not yet decided. Many people would love Scotland to be

:04:08. > :04:14.independent. David Cameron saying it is not about the Tories, I think he

:04:15. > :04:20.is missing the point. For many people, what it is about, is looking

:04:21. > :04:29.at the success of the local government and seeing how well they

:04:30. > :04:33.have done. Thinking whether we could go our own way and do it all

:04:34. > :04:40.ourselves and become independent. With our heads, badge is how we are

:04:41. > :04:49.thinking, but then there is that fear about finances `` that is how.

:04:50. > :04:55.Moving on to the Times, financial turmoil hits Scotland. That is where

:04:56. > :05:04.all the rhetoric about the economy going down the toilet, if there is a

:05:05. > :05:08.vote for Yes, the oil running out, not being a member of European Union

:05:09. > :05:18.and forth, the No campaign would say that this is the result of a vote

:05:19. > :05:24.for independence. I do think that as the article points out, a stream of

:05:25. > :05:32.blue`chip companies broke cover to indicate the risks of independence.

:05:33. > :05:38.We also have the chief Secretary to the treasury saying that the

:05:39. > :05:41.economic case for separation is finally dawning on everyone and it

:05:42. > :05:51.will affect growth and jobs and investment. In terms of trade and

:05:52. > :05:54.investment, how we have the whole issue of ministers going out and

:05:55. > :06:00.trying to get investment for the UK, will Scotland have the capacity

:06:01. > :06:05.to do that individually? That with a question I had for you, you made the

:06:06. > :06:11.question about Hollywood and the importance of local government, to

:06:12. > :06:20.what extent are people looking at Scotland's lays globally? `` place.

:06:21. > :06:33.You would not have the UK pitching for the whole country. I think that

:06:34. > :06:37.is and `` an issue. In particular, when it comes to the question of

:06:38. > :06:53.Europe. A lot of thoughts are very concerned about the issue. ``

:06:54. > :07:01.Scot's. Many would rather be part of an independent Scotland in Europe

:07:02. > :07:10.then be added to the European Union altogether. Many Scottish voters,

:07:11. > :07:16.four yes voters especially, it is about being a world player. We are

:07:17. > :07:24.apparently the 14th wealthiest nation in the world. That is the one

:07:25. > :07:28.side but on the other, it is an entirely different statistic and

:07:29. > :07:38.that has been a story we have heard for many months. Just to back up

:07:39. > :07:46.what the Times is saying, the BBC has spoken to the standard life

:07:47. > :07:52.group and they have said that they will certainly move on a contingency

:07:53. > :07:59.plan if the independence vote goes forward. You have people wanting to

:08:00. > :08:06.take money out of the bank, or will be property impact if there is a

:08:07. > :08:20.vote `` there will be property impact if there is a Yes vote. Alex

:08:21. > :08:30.Salmond has nudged ahead. It is just one poll. The Yes campaign were

:08:31. > :08:36.ahead and I think we are not taking account of the 10% to our

:08:37. > :08:43.undecided. If the 3% have said no thanks. 47% of those who are already

:08:44. > :08:54.decided have obviously agreed but many people have not voted at all.

:08:55. > :09:04.The other front page of the Herald. Union turned the heat on Yes. The No

:09:05. > :09:13.campaign, according to this one is six points ahead. David Cameron,

:09:14. > :09:15.Nick Clegg and Ed Miliband made a calculated decision to push the

:09:16. > :09:20.heartfelt element of the union forward, say why it is important,

:09:21. > :09:26.not with their heads but with their hearts. Does that work on its own or

:09:27. > :09:34.is it this kind of pressure from big businesses that is going to affect

:09:35. > :09:42.the undecided voters? It goes back to the heart or the head question.

:09:43. > :09:45.Labour is really reaching out to their members because they are

:09:46. > :09:52.recognising what will happen with Scotland not part of the UK. The

:09:53. > :09:59.Labour vote that could swing the next election. It will have a big

:10:00. > :10:05.impact on them. I saw the cartoon in the Times of ISIS saying that they

:10:06. > :10:12.should invade now before the job is done of breaking up the country. The

:10:13. > :10:19.Guardian. Moving away from Scottish matters to president Obama preparing

:10:20. > :10:25.to step up in his fight against ISIS. He will give a speech

:10:26. > :10:39.outlining the strategy that he said he did not have last week but he now

:10:40. > :10:43.says he has, the `` thankfully. He is trying to row back from saying

:10:44. > :10:49.last week that he did not actually have a strategy. I don't think he

:10:50. > :10:54.actually meant that, just that they had decided which of the strategies

:10:55. > :10:58.they were going to go with. He will also apparently be saying that he

:10:59. > :11:02.does not need the approval of Congress which is what we saw when

:11:03. > :11:08.we were looking at chemical weapons in Syria. The other issue will be

:11:09. > :11:12.what action is actually taken in Syria because we have avoided

:11:13. > :11:19.wanting to have any strikes within Syria in the past. Only within

:11:20. > :11:24.Iraq. We have Secretary of State, John Kerry meeting with the Iraqi

:11:25. > :11:30.president and asking how they can have unity within their government

:11:31. > :11:37.because that political unity will be key in dealing with ISIS. Scotland

:11:38. > :11:42.obviously has a lot on their plate with the referendum but obviously

:11:43. > :11:49.this situation in Iraq and Syria must be playing on the minds of the

:11:50. > :11:55.people. It is, especially because the next hostage in line is

:11:56. > :12:01.Scottish. That makes it sound very parochial but it is something we are

:12:02. > :12:06.keeping a very close eye on. You are right, the big issue is what is

:12:07. > :12:14.happening this week but it is a huge issue, no doubt. ISIS are truly evil

:12:15. > :12:18.and something has to be done. It is a question of what can be done and

:12:19. > :12:23.how carefully it can be done in order to not have this escalate. And

:12:24. > :12:29.also what kind of coalition can be built. We would be more comfortable

:12:30. > :12:37.if we could have turkey involved but they also have hostages `` Turkey.

:12:38. > :12:44.We also wanted Saudi Arabia involved. Building a coalition in

:12:45. > :12:53.that area will be tricky. Moving onto the Daily Telegraph. Do you

:12:54. > :13:03.drive a diesel car? No, it is petrol. Unleaded? It is. That is the

:13:04. > :13:08.right answer because Boris Johnson is saying that diesel cars should be

:13:09. > :13:15.scrapped, with each driver paid ?2000 to do it. I very rarely agree

:13:16. > :13:18.with him. I do think many people feel very betrayed by this. They

:13:19. > :13:24.thought they were doing the right thing for the environment by

:13:25. > :13:30.purchasing one and now they will be penalized and have extra charges for

:13:31. > :13:38.going into London. He thinks we have to somehow compensate them, so let's

:13:39. > :13:42.give them a couple of grand. Do you think your government would like to

:13:43. > :13:51.follow the same path? I have not given that a second thought. I

:13:52. > :13:57.haven't a clue. A lot of people do feel cheated. They were encouraged

:13:58. > :14:02.to purchase diesel cars and got tax incentives to do so and now we're

:14:03. > :14:07.being told it was bad idea. Were people really being encouraged to

:14:08. > :14:13.purchase cars in London with the congestion charge? It was way before

:14:14. > :14:25.that. The United States did the same thing. With the Cash for Clunkers

:14:26. > :14:28.programme. It was a simple idea, beginning that it would be more

:14:29. > :14:32.effective to just purchase these cars off the road but it was not the

:14:33. > :14:37.best result. I hope somebody is looking at that case study to see if

:14:38. > :14:46.it will work here. It might just be better to jump towards encouraging

:14:47. > :14:48.the building of electric cars. With big plants being opened in the

:14:49. > :14:55.United States, it might revolutionize the whole process. The

:14:56. > :15:11.United States writing to the rescue as usual `` riding. Where has she

:15:12. > :15:20.gone? She's gone! Can you see me? It has been great having you.

:15:21. > :15:23.Stay with us here on BBC News. At midnight ` all the day's news from

:15:24. > :15:26.the campaign trail in Scotland. Has a visit by the Prime Minister and

:15:27. > :15:29.Westminster party leaders had any effect on undecided voters? But

:15:30. > :15:34.coming up next it's time for Sportsday.
