:00:00. > :00:14.That is after the papers. Hello and welcome to
:00:15. > :00:17.our look ahead to what the papers With me is media commentator
:00:18. > :00:20.for Forbes.com, Neil Midgley, and, from Glasgow,
:00:21. > :00:38.Scottish columnist We can look at the front pages
:00:39. > :00:42.first. The Daily Telegraph claiming the BBC has told the presenters and
:00:43. > :00:46.stars of the last night of the problem is not to mention the
:00:47. > :00:51.Scottish referendum, with fears the corporation could be accused of
:00:52. > :00:58.bias. The Financial Times reporting that Scottish banks led an onslaught
:00:59. > :01:01.against Scottish independence. The Guardian have Oscar Pistorius. He
:01:02. > :01:06.was cleared of murdering his girlfriend. But he will have to wait
:01:07. > :01:14.until tomorrow for the final verdict. The Sun newspaper leading
:01:15. > :01:27.with a story about Strictly, but carrying a poll that suggests the no
:01:28. > :01:31.vote have a 58 to 48% lead `` 52. The daily record has the story of
:01:32. > :01:38.the jihadi bride vowing to kill and to die a martyr. And the Daily
:01:39. > :01:44.Express saying that house prices have increased by an average of
:01:45. > :01:50.?26,000 in the past year. We will start with Scotland. The Financial
:01:51. > :01:58.Times. Kevin, business onslaught over the yes vote. It has all been
:01:59. > :02:05.about the corporate world today. Five banks have indicated they will
:02:06. > :02:11.move their headquarters, their company address, south of the border
:02:12. > :02:17.in the event of a yes vote. Several high street retailers, such as John
:02:18. > :02:23.Lewis and Marks Spencer have suggested that prices, somehow, will
:02:24. > :02:29.go up in the event of a yes vote. I think a lot of the onslaught was
:02:30. > :02:35.expected at some point and it was obvious it would happen when last
:02:36. > :02:41.week's polls suggested much against predictions down south that is the
:02:42. > :02:47.yes vote was level pegging with no. A lot of Scots will be is slightly
:02:48. > :02:53.cynical as to why this has happened now, why the banks, for instance, if
:02:54. > :02:58.they are afraid of currency uncertainty, why they are doing it
:02:59. > :03:06.now, rather than in seven days, when it cannot affect the vote. And there
:03:07. > :03:10.is the strong whiff of orchestration by number ten in collusion with the
:03:11. > :03:17.Better Together campaign, which leaves a nasty taste in the mouth. A
:03:18. > :03:23.suggestion this has been orchestrated by David Cameron. He
:03:24. > :03:27.would do that, would he? At this stage in the campaign, number ten
:03:28. > :03:36.pulling out the stops. There was a reception for business leaders on
:03:37. > :03:41.Monday and arms were twisted. An interesting part of the FT story is
:03:42. > :03:47.that Marks Spencer will pitch in tomorrow. This is not just a no
:03:48. > :03:54.campaign, this is an M camp paid now! The big guns are coming out ``
:03:55. > :04:01.campaign. There has been an argument about the banks and why they are
:04:02. > :04:06.moving to England. Alex Salmond saying the jobs and operations will
:04:07. > :04:10.be here. Part of the issue according to the Financial Times is the banks
:04:11. > :04:15.are worried the rating agencies will downgrade them if they are part of a
:04:16. > :04:20.smaller economy and that they will not have the Bank of England as the
:04:21. > :04:24.bank of last resort. It will be a big issue for an independent
:04:25. > :04:32.Scotland that they lose that as part of the union `` what they get as
:04:33. > :04:38.part of the union. The ban, the headline, the BBC banning talk of
:04:39. > :04:46.the referendum for the last night of the Proms. I do feel sorry for the
:04:47. > :04:52.poor old BBC at times like this. I have written my fair share of
:04:53. > :04:58.negative stories about the BBC, at the BBC has to you try to stay
:04:59. > :05:06.impartial. That is in any political matters. And to have political
:05:07. > :05:12.slogans, electioneering from presenters, performers, at the last
:05:13. > :05:16.night of the Proms would cause a huge impartiality headache, because
:05:17. > :05:20.it is difficult to make sure you have similar quantities on both
:05:21. > :05:26.sides, if you allowed it. But it does feel like the BBC has been
:05:27. > :05:33.po`faced and overly serious when you think that the last night of the
:05:34. > :05:41.Proms, rule Britannia, Jerusalem, the most patriotically night of the
:05:42. > :05:45.year. You cannot deny that this is going to have a bearing. Viewers in
:05:46. > :05:51.Scotland will make up their minds based one way or the other of the
:05:52. > :05:57.waving of the union Jacks. They will be able to bring banners. They can
:05:58. > :06:04.have campaign banners. Kevin, will that make people sway one way or the
:06:05. > :06:07.other? I cannot see it. There is something faintly ridiculous about
:06:08. > :06:16.this story. Are they really going to be seeing `` saying to performers we
:06:17. > :06:20.do not want a mention of the referendum. I doubt it is the top of
:06:21. > :06:27.the agenda, the performers on that night. Will they banned music by
:06:28. > :06:32.Elgar, for instance? Do they think we Scots who enjoy classical music
:06:33. > :06:37.may be swayed to stay in the union because of a sharp burst of
:06:38. > :06:43.Jerusalem? I doubt it. Our hearts are stirred by that music anyway,
:06:44. > :06:49.whether it is stirred the union is another matter. The Times newspaper
:06:50. > :06:58.and the Sun newspaper have this new poll that puts the no campaign of
:06:59. > :07:08.52%, yes on 48%. This is back to the figures we we used to. I know the
:07:09. > :07:15.Sun newspaper is presenting this as the no campaign regaining lost
:07:16. > :07:22.ground. If you were to ask people in the yes campaign where they would
:07:23. > :07:26.like to be with seven days to go, I think within two points of victory
:07:27. > :07:34.is exactly where they would like to be. The thing about the yes campaign
:07:35. > :07:39.is that they have access to more volunteers and they have a more
:07:40. > :07:44.sophisticated and better organised electoral machine. In the next seven
:07:45. > :07:51.days, not a street in Scotland will be without yes campaigners. There
:07:52. > :07:55.are more of them, they are more evangelical than no campaigners and
:07:56. > :07:59.to be within two points of touching distance with all this campaigning
:08:00. > :08:06.still to go, I would say it is where they would like to be. We can turn
:08:07. > :08:13.to the Guardian, who have a powerful picture of Oscar Pistorius crying in
:08:14. > :08:20.the dock. He has been cleared of murder, but no judgement yet coming
:08:21. > :08:27.from Judge Masipa in Pretoria. He may well yet to be found guilty of
:08:28. > :08:31.what I think is called culpable homicide, manslaughter, which is,
:08:32. > :08:36.roughly speaking, as a former solicitor, means killing someone
:08:37. > :08:43.when you do not intend to. The judge has said that Oscar Pistorius acted
:08:44. > :08:49.unlawfully. Firing a gun at anybody behind a closed door is unlawful and
:08:50. > :08:56.dangerous. And so he may well still go to prison will stop I am struck
:08:57. > :09:01.by the drama. You pointed to the picture on the front page of the
:09:02. > :09:07.Guardian. If he does not go to prison, he has a career in Hollywood
:09:08. > :09:15.ahead, the amount of crying, vomiting during his testimony, can
:09:16. > :09:22.you imagine his O on speech with this level of emotion? `` Oscars.
:09:23. > :09:29.And this final twist in the court case. We expected a conclusive
:09:30. > :09:30.verdict and there has been another cliffhanger. You could not script it
:09:31. > :09:46.better. What is your take? Congratulation to
:09:47. > :09:52.the arts department because that is an excellent front page with a
:09:53. > :09:58.superb picture well used. It will grab people on the newsstands
:09:59. > :10:01.tomorrow. I saw the judge giving the reasons for the first part of her
:10:02. > :10:06.verdict today and although I do not have a legal background, I would
:10:07. > :10:11.suggest it would not provide much comfort to Oscar Pistorius and his
:10:12. > :10:19.team in terms of what can be expected tomorrow if she is already
:10:20. > :10:25.talking about unlawful. Thank you very much. We will be back at
:10:26. > :10:32.11:30pm for another look at the stories making the news. At 11
