:00:17. > :00:26.Hello and welcome to our look ahead at what the papers will bring us

:00:27. > :00:30.tomorrow. Without our Angela Knight and the editor from the Independent.

:00:31. > :00:35.It is good to have you with us. Let's take a look at the front pages

:00:36. > :00:39.of the morning newspapers. I can show you the Independent, not sure

:00:40. > :00:45.how well you will see it. It leads on the threat the second British

:00:46. > :00:48.hostage, Alan Henning who's being held by Islamic State militants.

:00:49. > :00:51.The same photo of the 47`year`old volunteer aid worker is also on

:00:52. > :00:55.the front of Telegraph though it's main story is the comment by the

:00:56. > :01:02.The Guardian also reports on the comment by the Queen as well the

:01:03. > :01:07.It says the prospect of the UK joining military action against the

:01:08. > :01:11.The prospect of military action is the main report in the Express

:01:12. > :01:13.which claims the government is considering 'whatever steps are

:01:14. > :01:29.let's begin with the Islamic State. And the threat now that we have been

:01:30. > :01:35.hearing to this man, 47`year`old Alan Henning, featured on the front

:01:36. > :01:40.of the Independent. A taxi driver from Salford. He has been taken

:01:41. > :01:51.hostage by militants. He has been working in Syria as a volunteer.

:01:52. > :01:52.Obviously under tremendously dangerous circumstances, very few

:01:53. > :01:56.aid agencies able to leave their staff in the country now. Concern

:01:57. > :02:02.has turned to Alan Henning, now we have reported on the death of David

:02:03. > :02:09.Haines. It is quite shocking, isn't it? Like many, absolutely appalled

:02:10. > :02:15.with what we have seen, the reports and how the brutality with which

:02:16. > :02:22.these hostages are being dealt with. They have gone to help, they have

:02:23. > :02:27.gone to assist, bringing aid, trying to help those who are impacted. They

:02:28. > :02:31.are captured, I do not know how, may be traded and find themselves in an

:02:32. > :02:35.appalling situation. I hope we can do something. Don't we'll look at

:02:36. > :02:41.this and say, something must be done to get the hostages away. Hours and

:02:42. > :02:44.other nationalities. We can talk about what could be done in a

:02:45. > :02:48.moment. You raise an interesting point, we do not know a great deal

:02:49. > :02:53.about the circumstances they are in. A great deal of care is taken in the

:02:54. > :02:58.reporting of hostage situations. Yes, Alan Henning has been held

:02:59. > :03:01.hostage to the last nine months. For most people, this is the first

:03:02. > :03:05.anyone has heard of it. That has been a very deliberate strategy on

:03:06. > :03:11.behalf of the Foreign Office, blacking out talking to media. That

:03:12. > :03:18.position became completely unsustainable overnight, when the

:03:19. > :03:22.video right ISIS came out. The Foreign Office had now changed their

:03:23. > :03:25.position. There is an important and interesting question about whether

:03:26. > :03:30.that is the right decision. You made the point, this was an aid worker

:03:31. > :03:36.going out there to help. This will mobilise people in the Muslim world

:03:37. > :03:41.as well, saying it is barbaric and wrong. If we had known about that

:03:42. > :03:47.before, might the chances... Might he have been release? Exactly. What

:03:48. > :03:53.we do not know either is if there are a lot of attempts made quietly,

:03:54. > :04:02.privately. This man and the other hostages who were captured, it

:04:03. > :04:07.rapidly escalated throughout that part of the Middle East.

:04:08. > :04:13.Self`evidently, not everybody agrees with the way this is taking place.

:04:14. > :04:16.There will be a huge proportion of people in these countries who would

:04:17. > :04:24.say this is wrong and would not be in favour of taking hostages. One of

:04:25. > :04:31.the reasons they say they should have these blackouts as you never

:04:32. > :04:37.know what has been said. And if their nationality contradicts with

:04:38. > :04:42.what they have said their captors. But when Jon Swain got kidnapped in

:04:43. > :04:45.Ethiopia many years ago, there was a similar news blackout. He said his

:04:46. > :04:50.captors said to him, we think you are a spy because your newspaper not

:04:51. > :04:56.reported about it. These are enormously difficult issues. That is

:04:57. > :05:01.right. I absolutely agree, difficult issues and you can see just why

:05:02. > :05:09.there is a silence, a public silence was so long. But I think this is so

:05:10. > :05:13.terrible now, this is such a huge, appalling issue, that you have to

:05:14. > :05:17.rethink all the strategies. Including the one about what happens

:05:18. > :05:23.when somebody is captured. Let's talk about strategy. We have here on

:05:24. > :05:25.the Daily Telegraph the same photograph of Alan Henning. David

:05:26. > :05:29.Cameron saying he will seek UN approval for air strikes when he

:05:30. > :05:36.goes to the United Nations. That will not be until after the Scottish

:05:37. > :05:42.referendum vote on Thursday. But, the view seems to be, whilst resolve

:05:43. > :05:46.is strengthening, the position won't really change, will it, for the

:05:47. > :05:53.government? There are a couple of things happening. Downing Street,

:05:54. > :05:57.the last thing they want to be seen to be doing is rushing into things.

:05:58. > :06:02.They have done things in the past to quickly in the Middle East. But in

:06:03. > :06:06.the long`running com is much more sensible unsustainable. There is a

:06:07. > :06:12.choreography to it. David Cameron goes to the UN next week, talks to

:06:13. > :06:17.other Arab leaders, he talks to Obama and they try to build this

:06:18. > :06:23.consensus. Then the following week, I suspect, Parliament we called. The

:06:24. > :06:27.critical part here is to get partners in the Middle East, as

:06:28. > :06:33.well. `` we called. It is for them to say the threat is on us as well.

:06:34. > :06:40.It is on them, of course. If it is a coalition of partners in which the

:06:41. > :06:44.Arab states are there, and maybe it is US led in some respects, but are

:06:45. > :06:47.far closer partnership it is more likely to get the long`term

:06:48. > :06:52.success, but it will take time. It may suddenly have been sprung on us

:06:53. > :07:00.overnight over a short period of time, the whole of this caliphate

:07:01. > :07:04.and how ISIS has come across to our attention, but I think it will take

:07:05. > :07:08.some very considerable time to resolve. It has to be resolved with

:07:09. > :07:13.those countries who are affected in that part of the world. We will come

:07:14. > :07:16.back to the Telegraph, its lead story tonight, the Queen breaking

:07:17. > :07:20.her silence over Scottish independence. But a quick look at

:07:21. > :07:29.the Guardian. Stop this menace, UK steps close closer to threat of

:07:30. > :07:33.ISIS. It will be done in concert with the United States. That is

:07:34. > :07:36.right, and that is a way to do it. In this report it actually does

:07:37. > :07:40.reference some Western diplomats reported that several Arab states

:07:41. > :07:47.have offered to join. Nobody has said it yet publicly, but I think in

:07:48. > :07:52.this article we do have some of the critical steps of what would form a

:07:53. > :07:56.successful coalition. I hope over the next week or two weeks, as

:07:57. > :08:04.Oliver said, it will start to come together. Build the government in

:08:05. > :08:12.Iraq which gives an alternative. That is what has happened. That has

:08:13. > :08:15.so often been the case, let's deal with the problem and then think

:08:16. > :08:19.about what happened afterwards. We have seen that. You are so right.

:08:20. > :08:26.You have to get that political leadership there as well. The Daily

:08:27. > :08:30.Express. This is the bubbly the body meant, as you mentioned, strength in

:08:31. > :08:35.public opinion about this. We will destroy jihadist monsters. `` of the

:08:36. > :08:41.embodiment. The other story on the front of the express tonight is the

:08:42. > :08:46.Queen tells Scotland to think very carefully. We may need to show

:08:47. > :08:52.you... There we go. Described in some of the newspapers as an

:08:53. > :08:59.intervention. The fact she worlds interviewed. It was a chap outside

:09:00. > :09:04.church. All she said outside church was, I hope people think very

:09:05. > :09:14.carefully about the future. Hardly incendiary stuff. But I feel that

:09:15. > :09:21.will not stop her getting cyber trolled. Was it necessary for her to

:09:22. > :09:25.say anything? If somebody asks you and you give the stony silence... I

:09:26. > :09:30.think this is absolutely the right thing to say. I am very proud of the

:09:31. > :09:34.Queen, I make no bones about it. I think she is very good at just

:09:35. > :09:39.saying the appropriate thing at the appropriate time. If telling people

:09:40. > :09:42.to think before they cast their vote is some way considered intervening,

:09:43. > :09:46.incendiary and something she should not have said, I do not sit in that

:09:47. > :09:50.camp. I think everybody has to think very carefully about the Scottish

:09:51. > :09:54.vote, not just the vote itself but what happens after. Which ever way

:09:55. > :10:00.that vote goes, and I certainly hope they vote to be an independent

:10:01. > :10:04.nation but within the union, I am in favour of the union, that after that

:10:05. > :10:08.vote, which ever way it goes, there is going to be a lot of change. For

:10:09. > :10:14.the Queen to say, let's think about it carefully, I think that is good,

:10:15. > :10:18.I really do. The Financial Times. I will have two holes this up to you

:10:19. > :10:30.in an old school way. `` hold this up. Can you see it? It is this bit.

:10:31. > :10:35.Andy Teck backlash. This is a self`critical look at how a lot of

:10:36. > :10:43.people feel, particularly in Europe, following the revelations to

:10:44. > :10:47.do with how our data is being used, privacy issues. All of these

:10:48. > :10:50.companies that have grown exponentially over the last few

:10:51. > :10:55.years, they were nothing and they have collected vast amount of

:10:56. > :10:59.information about us and not thinking carefully that how to use

:11:00. > :11:03.it. It causes all sorts of problems. The understatement of the year. It

:11:04. > :11:07.says some in our industry have underestimated the degree to which

:11:08. > :11:10.people care about their privacy, said the General Council of

:11:11. > :11:14.Microsoft. Yes, they have underestimated. They need to think

:11:15. > :11:19.about this very carefully. We will return to these stories and others

:11:20. > :11:23.at 11:30pm. If you have any comments and you are on twitter you could use

:11:24. > :11:26.the hashtag on the screen. Stay with us on BBC News, it is time for

:11:27. > :11:34.click. This wearable technology is a great

:11:35. > :11:39.idea but they still have to bring it
