:00:18. > :00:20.Hello and welcome to our look ahead to what the papers

:00:21. > :00:26.With me are Randeep Ramesh, who's the Social Affairs Editor

:00:27. > :00:28.at the Guardian and the political correspondent

:00:29. > :00:31.The Sunday Times, which carries pictures of some

:00:32. > :00:35.of the 25 children who died in the plane crash in Egypt's Sinai.

:00:36. > :00:38.But it leads with the suggestion that ministers have U-turned

:00:39. > :00:41.on tougher school tests in the face of teaching union opposition.

:00:42. > :00:43.The Observer leads with the government's internet surveillance

:00:44. > :00:49.plans - it says the Home Secretary has been forced to backtrack.

:00:50. > :00:52.The Mail's focus is the Iraq War - it claims that ministers

:00:53. > :00:57.at the time were told to burn a top-level document questioning

:00:58. > :01:10.The Sunday Telegraph carries a picture of Prince Harry handing

:01:11. > :01:13.the Rugby World Cup to New Zealand's captain - after his side's

:01:14. > :01:17.And public spending cuts is the top story for the Sunday Post -

:01:18. > :01:20.it says that teachers have been forced to hand out bookies' pens

:01:21. > :01:32.We are going to start with that plane crash that came down in the

:01:33. > :01:40.Sinai Peninsula earlier today. Did ISIS take down the plane? They have

:01:41. > :01:45.very much humanised this for us with three of the 25 children who are

:01:46. > :01:50.thought to have died. It is an interesting choice of pictures. The

:01:51. > :01:55.question is, did ISIS take down the Russian airliner? I focusing on some

:01:56. > :02:00.of the victims, beautiful children caught up in this tragedy, it plays

:02:01. > :02:09.into this argument that the Russians are just like us. They will also

:02:10. > :02:15.suffer. Given all the stuff we have heard and who to turn acting in a

:02:16. > :02:22.belligerent manner in Syria, the question is whether ISIS have the

:02:23. > :02:28.capability. The suggestion is that although there is insurgent activity

:02:29. > :02:32.in the Sinai Peninsula, whether they would have the capabilities to do

:02:33. > :02:38.that, given this airline was flying pretty high. The answer to the

:02:39. > :02:53.question is, we do not know. There is no evidence. There is no evidence

:02:54. > :02:56.suggesting they did not. It fits, the best conspiracy theory, it

:02:57. > :03:02.sounds right. But Russia has launched attacks in Syria, some of

:03:03. > :03:13.which were against ISIS. They would have the motive. It makes sense if

:03:14. > :03:20.ISIS were behind this. From Egypt's point of view, a technical fault

:03:21. > :03:31.will be, if you can say this, a more palatable outcome for this story.

:03:32. > :03:40.They will not want any suggestion of terrorism against people who are

:03:41. > :03:44.flying home from a nice holiday. A ?50 million campaign to persuade

:03:45. > :03:51.tourists driven away from Egypt to return. Not good timing from them.

:03:52. > :04:00.Suggestions it is just a mechanical fault. It is probably out of their

:04:01. > :04:06.hands. The experts will decide. Looking at the Daily Mail.

:04:07. > :04:31.The Iraq War cover-up. A document that only a few people saw. This was

:04:32. > :04:37.the original opinion, that it would go to some kind of legal challenge.

:04:38. > :04:45.Now we have this different version of events, slightly different. And

:04:46. > :04:51.you wonder what happened. You do. You will probably find out in the

:04:52. > :04:58.Chilcott report next summer. It is nearly 2 million words long. The

:04:59. > :05:04.mail has decided it is a cover-up. The interesting thing is, the people

:05:05. > :05:15.involved in Chilcott see what they have been accused of. We had Tony

:05:16. > :05:22.Blair apologising. He said, I am sorry we did not have better

:05:23. > :05:29.intelligence. He is presumably trying to head off any criticism.

:05:30. > :05:42.Somebody knows they are in the firing line. One of the recipients

:05:43. > :05:48.refused to burn it. He is distancing himself from all of that. David

:05:49. > :05:55.Blunkett and Gordon Brown did not get to see the document. But Jack

:05:56. > :06:02.Straw did. And Jeff says, I will not be making any comment, but the

:06:03. > :06:13.remark in question did not come up during negotiations. People cannot

:06:14. > :06:16.resist making comments. Of all the people he would give this a place

:06:17. > :06:29.to, would you give it to the one who everyone knows as a buffer in?

:06:30. > :06:38.A plan to snoop on Internet use. Moves afoot in the Lords to tone it

:06:39. > :06:43.down, do it over, amend it sufficiently to make it slightly

:06:44. > :06:49.more bearable to the Liberal Democrats. How much backtracking is

:06:50. > :06:54.this? I can understand why. This appeared in a number of newspapers.

:06:55. > :07:01.We will not do all of this completely ridiculous stuff.

:07:02. > :07:06.Ministers will still be able to decide who gets snooped on, but the

:07:07. > :07:15.judges will be able to rubberstamp the decision. That is not much of a

:07:16. > :07:25.backtrack. Judges have to decide when it is issued. It seems like a

:07:26. > :07:40.classic, we are going to do something very bad. It is very

:07:41. > :07:46.complex stuff. We can see what is recorded and who records it. It is

:07:47. > :07:52.quite complex. People can understand being snooped upon. Exactly what is

:07:53. > :07:58.involved is kind of difficult. It might be necessary to toughen up the

:07:59. > :08:07.laws to some extent to track down terrorists. Looking at the Times,

:08:08. > :08:11.which I have thrown away. Jeremy Corbyn saying that he cannot

:08:12. > :08:17.understand why ministers are spending a lot of money

:08:18. > :08:26.commemorating a war. Be fair to him, he said this in 2013. And it was at

:08:27. > :08:31.an event organised by the morning Star. He was preaching to the

:08:32. > :08:41.converted. We have a clipped version of what he said. Given that many

:08:42. > :08:56.historians have said, you might understand what he was trying to

:08:57. > :09:03.say. It is classic Tory Black Ops. Looking for stupid things Jeremy

:09:04. > :09:12.Corbyn has said. Daft things he has said that over the last 30 years.

:09:13. > :09:17.Who got that job? Some minion. It would be quite fun, I suspect. He is

:09:18. > :09:33.not going to be allowed to forget it. It is a donkey jacket moment.

:09:34. > :09:47.The Tories will say he is a threat to national security. That looks

:09:48. > :09:54.possibly even hypocritical. Shall we look at the Sunday Post? Let us look

:09:55. > :10:03.at the Sunday Post. There we are. Exclusive, schoolkids left to usable

:10:04. > :10:13.keypad is. -- bookies pens. Why? Because there is money. There has

:10:14. > :10:26.been cuts to local authorities. Up to them how they spend that money

:10:27. > :10:34.and where the cuts for. Some schools have as little as ?1 per week to

:10:35. > :10:48.spend for basic equipment per pupil. Like exercise books, stationery,

:10:49. > :10:53.jotters. It is a serious story. And this is a good way of getting into

:10:54. > :11:01.it. Having to pilferage is little blue pens from bookies is shocking.

:11:02. > :11:08.And the SNP will be judged on measures like how well they are

:11:09. > :11:16.doing. They will be measured on how well they will be able to deliver a

:11:17. > :11:21.referendum on independence. The dream is still to be dreamt, or

:11:22. > :11:26.something like that. Maybe the balance will switch in the run-up to

:11:27. > :11:40.the Scottish election. We will have to wait and see. Going back to the

:11:41. > :11:47.Mail on Sunday. Have a look at a new couple. In the form of Jerry Hall, a

:11:48. > :11:53.former supermodel, and Rupert Murdoch, the billionaire media

:11:54. > :11:58.mogul. They are not a glamorous young couple. Not beautiful young

:11:59. > :12:04.people on the front page. We cannot accuse them of that. Why are they on

:12:05. > :12:11.the front page? They are a slightly odd couple. Of all the couples who

:12:12. > :12:16.might have put, Jeremy Hall and Rupert Murdoch. My eyebrows did not

:12:17. > :12:22.rise when I saw that they work together. Rupert Murdoch, the

:12:23. > :12:30.strange that the billionaire. He has managed to do it again. --

:12:31. > :12:36.attraction. They look very happy. They are very happy. They are

:12:37. > :12:45.wearing the Australian flag. I am sure we all wish Mr Murdoch at the

:12:46. > :12:51.BBC... That is the papers for tonight. Lovely to see you both.

:12:52. > :12:53.Coming up next, it is the film review.
