:00:15. > :00:17.Hello and welcome to our look ahead to what the the papers will be

:00:18. > :00:26.With me are Claire Cohen, the deputy women's editor

:00:27. > :00:28.from the Daily Telegraph, and Mihir Bose, columnist

:00:29. > :00:32.The digital Independent leads with the EU referendum,

:00:33. > :00:35.and accusations from David Cameron that the Leave campaign

:00:36. > :00:38.The Financial Times headlines the government's probe

:00:39. > :00:42.into an admission from the boss of Sports Direct that he paid

:00:43. > :00:46.some of his staff less than the minimum wage.

:00:47. > :00:51.That's also front page news in the Guardian,

:00:52. > :00:53.which claims that Mike Ashley, the boss of Sports Direct,

:00:54. > :00:56.could face a multimillion pound fine for breaking the law.

:00:57. > :00:58.The Metro goes with the former Chelsea doctor, who's received

:00:59. > :01:01.a payoff from the club after agreeing to drop her sexual

:01:02. > :01:07.The Express headlines claims that British pensions are at risk

:01:08. > :01:14.if there's a vote to stay in the European Union.

:01:15. > :01:20.And the male leads with the migrant crisis and suggestions the EU is

:01:21. > :01:25.planning to grant US style Green cards to those coming from Africa

:01:26. > :01:36.and the Middle East. We will start with the Metro. Mega pay out an

:01:37. > :01:40.apology for Chelsea. This is a huge victory for her against an

:01:41. > :01:44.incredibly powerful organisation. Yes, very few people saying they are

:01:45. > :01:51.surprised she has settled having turned down what was an initial

:01:52. > :01:55.rumoured 1.2 million. I think she has had a huge victory, she got what

:01:56. > :01:57.she wanted, she wanted her day in court and public acknowledgement

:01:58. > :02:03.that she was just doing her job and nothing more. That is what Chelsea

:02:04. > :02:07.have come forward and apologised unreservedly think they said in a

:02:08. > :02:11.statement to her, that she was doing her job. Their statement is

:02:12. > :02:20.particularly grovelling, I think, could be the word, because as you

:02:21. > :02:23.were just saying, the point is here getting public recognition that

:02:24. > :02:27.since she was simply behaving as a doctor assured, attending a patient?

:02:28. > :02:32.Absolutely, and what is interesting is that Jose Mourinho has gone on to

:02:33. > :02:35.Manchester United, he made an appearance. A surprise appearance as

:02:36. > :02:39.the metal point out. We don't know why but they had a private buyer

:02:40. > :02:44.closed doors meeting and we don't quite know what was said. It might

:02:45. > :02:50.be reasonable to speculate that he made some sort of statement which

:02:51. > :02:54.was in effect, was in -- one doesn't know what he said, but a greater

:02:55. > :02:56.victory for her after we all know he seems we saw at the first opening

:02:57. > :03:01.match of last season and what happened between them. If you like

:03:02. > :03:10.this is her moment to say what happened was wrong and he therefore

:03:11. > :03:14.has, Chelsea have apologised. Very profusely for what happened. She was

:03:15. > :03:18.doing what she was required to do, but it also raises question about

:03:19. > :03:21.her football clubs are run, what goes on behind the scenes because I

:03:22. > :03:25.think what would have been useful not just for the journalist but for

:03:26. > :03:32.the fans as well to know how the moment of explosion in a match,

:03:33. > :03:35.which seemed very innocent and fairly routine, players injured,

:03:36. > :03:40.Doctor Rush is on, should become such a big story. What is going on?

:03:41. > :03:47.Lets not forget this was not just unfair dismissal, it was sectioned

:03:48. > :03:49.stagnation as well. -- it was a sexual discrimination. However

:03:50. > :03:54.vindicated she feels professionally, there is an undercurrent that

:03:55. > :03:57.football is a toxic environment for women to work as as she's concerned

:03:58. > :04:06.and that hasn't been addressed and renewal will never address that.

:04:07. > :04:11.Let's go to the Daily Express. -- Mourinho humiliated. As you were

:04:12. > :04:17.saying, you believe Mourinho probably, possibly, maybe, made

:04:18. > :04:21.face-to-face apology. I think he must have done but it was before the

:04:22. > :04:26.first tribunal hearing in March. She came out and said one of her demise

:04:27. > :04:30.was a public apology from Mourinho. For her to have accepted a

:04:31. > :04:35.settlement where that has not happened, there must have been

:04:36. > :04:37.something. And for him to turn up first prize visit, they must've been

:04:38. > :04:42.something that happened behind closed doors to make her feel like

:04:43. > :04:47.she has had close over the issue and the public apology, it is an reserve

:04:48. > :04:52.from Chelsea specifically not from him. Certainly not that we know

:04:53. > :04:59.about. Tribunal 's are a very costly thing financially and emotionally,

:05:00. > :05:02.so she would have had to wait up another ten days of this,

:05:03. > :05:06.potentially embarrassing revelations, not just for Chelsea,

:05:07. > :05:11.but possibly for her as well. Hindi at what might have been going on.

:05:12. > :05:15.There is a question here that we speak about managers being the boss

:05:16. > :05:21.of the cupboard Mourinho was not the boss, he was the boss of a football

:05:22. > :05:26.team. She was a doctor. She was the boss of her setup. In fact there

:05:27. > :05:29.were -- they were colleagues, so the weight surfaced on that opening

:05:30. > :05:38.match against Swansea as if Mourinho was the boss is planning some minor

:05:39. > :05:48.employee. The senior, elite team doctor. Yes, this has established

:05:49. > :05:52.that she was doing her job as an employee with certain powers and

:05:53. > :05:57.another employee cannot sort of... OK, quick question, do you think

:05:58. > :06:03.this sets the template for how people in her position are treated

:06:04. > :06:07.as senior doctors of a team? Clearly Jose Mourinho said there are tactics

:06:08. > :06:11.involved and if it is right at the end and we have a player who is

:06:12. > :06:14.injured and it could mean we end up losing the game, do not run on the

:06:15. > :06:19.pitch. Has that kind of philosophy being thrown out of that ever really

:06:20. > :06:23.existed? Tell you what has happened in the last 20 years, managers have

:06:24. > :06:28.become more nosy, huge figures, there is a camera focused on them

:06:29. > :06:32.and the Met has grown up that the manager is the club. I think what

:06:33. > :06:35.this case being that is the manager is not the club, the manager is

:06:36. > :06:39.responsible for the performance of the players on the field but the

:06:40. > :06:43.club is more than that. The club has other employees, among them as

:06:44. > :06:45.Doctor Garth session responsibilities, not just the

:06:46. > :06:49.manager. Therefore this will question that the idea that is

:06:50. > :06:52.because the camera shows what the manager is doing for the players are

:06:53. > :06:59.playing, that doesn't make the manager the most important person.

:07:00. > :07:09.OK, finally, we will have fun with this, Jay -- Daily Mail. The Daily

:07:10. > :07:14.Mail reckons it is fine, what you think? The Metro thinks it is at

:07:15. > :07:20.least 2 million. I'm more inclined to go with a slightly less generous.

:07:21. > :07:26.5 million seems like an awfully big jump from 1.2. If that is more than

:07:27. > :07:31.an insult. This is a matter of work practice. Absolutely, what we see on

:07:32. > :07:36.the screen is 90 minute show, there is a normal workplace going on

:07:37. > :07:42.behind-the-scenes. There is a value judgment being made by the Daily

:07:43. > :07:46.Mail in this. One thing we know is what -- it was definitely more than

:07:47. > :07:57.1.2 million. We can safely say that. Want the Financial Times. He

:07:58. > :08:01.admitted today he does or did pay his staff some of them, but though

:08:02. > :08:08.the legal minimum. And what has emerged are the practices, the work

:08:09. > :08:15.practices, at his Sports Direct operation were the legal minimum is

:08:16. > :08:19.6.70 but the practices involved, they've -- if you are one minute

:08:20. > :08:23.late your dock pay 15 minutes and therefore they way you operate the

:08:24. > :08:29.system that you are legally playing on paper a certain figure, actually

:08:30. > :08:34.you are not. And some of what has emerged is quite scandalous. Our

:08:35. > :08:38.woman has given birth to a child in the toilet! Six strikes and you are

:08:39. > :08:43.out. Because she was afraid to cross the line and therefore get a bad

:08:44. > :08:48.mark by her name and possibly lose her job somewhere down the line.

:08:49. > :08:54.Very few permanent employees. Most of the staff seem temporary

:08:55. > :09:00.employees who can be sacked at any moment. Yes, lots are zero hours

:09:01. > :09:05.contracts, 80%, possibly more of the workforce. The point about Mike

:09:06. > :09:11.Ashley is that he is not the only boss who runs the kind of operation

:09:12. > :09:16.that relies to a large extent on casual workers. This is just the tip

:09:17. > :09:20.of the iceberg. Maybe it's time to call for more transparency about the

:09:21. > :09:25.temporary working culture. We have companies will be forced to that --

:09:26. > :09:30.published there into pay gaps and that, perhaps we need similar

:09:31. > :09:32.measures for temporary work, which seems to be growing workplace

:09:33. > :09:36.culture in Britain. It was interesting that at one point on

:09:37. > :09:42.Twitter Eva Carneiro and Mike Ashley were trendy at the same time --

:09:43. > :09:47.trending. I'm not convinced Ashley quite get it either. He said I'm not

:09:48. > :09:54.Father Christmas at one point. But he is Scrooge, surely. This is six

:09:55. > :09:58.strikes thing for you spend too long speaking or in the loop he says,

:09:59. > :10:04.maybe six is too few. I think he missed the point of bit. Yes. He was

:10:05. > :10:09.making the point that this is a massive business and perhaps it has

:10:10. > :10:12.grown so fast I can't possibly have responsibility for everything that

:10:13. > :10:18.goes on. It is too big for me to handle. Is that something that cuts

:10:19. > :10:22.any ice with most people? It is too big Reznor I can't possibly know

:10:23. > :10:28.what is going on? You cannot take credit for the business when it is

:10:29. > :10:31.doing well and making money and then say this is what I've done and then

:10:32. > :10:34.say I don't know what is happening that up if you don't know, then you

:10:35. > :10:37.need people below you to tell you what is happening otherwise what

:10:38. > :10:41.you're doing is ahead of the business. Oyoo cultures got yourself

:10:42. > :10:44.out of a job. I spend a lot of your time trying to keep Newcastle up and

:10:45. > :10:49.even then you failed? What exactly is he doing? That at the bottom

:10:50. > :10:56.line. It is the dreadful season at Newcastle United that has led to all

:10:57. > :11:02.this. Ashley admits I broke the law. Staff were paid below minimum wage

:11:03. > :11:10.says tycoon. Yes, he says the business is too big to control. He

:11:11. > :11:13.could well be facing lawsuits as a result of his admission today.

:11:14. > :11:18.Absolutely and some interesting detail in The Guardian story about

:11:19. > :11:22.sexual predators in the company, as he called them. Which he admitted to

:11:23. > :11:24.foot of yes, he said they are Republican and disgusting so that

:11:25. > :11:29.level of sexual harassment is going on we could see lots of people being

:11:30. > :11:40.disgruntled. -- on we could see lots of people being

:11:41. > :11:43.disgruntled. -- repugnant. They were not debating each other, they were

:11:44. > :11:49.talking to an audience who were taking questions. Will we see a

:11:50. > :11:54.debate? If we see a debate it will be the blue and blue debate. This is

:11:55. > :11:59.a cause. Which is why David Cameron doesn't want? Called by Johnson and

:12:00. > :12:03.go, so this a spokesman for vote lead, but one of them would be a

:12:04. > :12:06.spokesman, Michael Gove is supposed to be the Prime Minister's best

:12:07. > :12:15.friend. An interesting debate but I'm not sure we will see that. At

:12:16. > :12:20.this point in time it seems like the Leave campaign is in front and the

:12:21. > :12:22.Prime Minister has to do something. Part of that when the spec is

:12:23. > :12:26.because immigration has been so important over the last week? It

:12:27. > :12:30.has, anything that Cameron is trying to steer the conversation away from

:12:31. > :12:36.that and that is one reason he would be keen to avoid head-to-head, blue

:12:37. > :12:39.on blue, as you say. I think you're right, it's clear that perhaps he

:12:40. > :12:44.needs to do something to change the conversation or tactic as we enter

:12:45. > :12:50.the final straight. And worth saying, you can only register to

:12:51. > :12:54.vote until midnight tonight. Yes! 7.5 million people at 8pm still

:12:55. > :13:00.hadn't registered. Former sports editor, you have a theory about how

:13:01. > :13:04.this vote will go? Yes, I think we should look to Slovakia because that

:13:05. > :13:10.is the third match England are playing. Start with Russia, then

:13:11. > :13:14.Wales, and if England fulfil their promise, which they often don't do,

:13:15. > :13:19.by then England should qualify and my memory of this is a 1970, student

:13:20. > :13:23.then, on the Sunday before the thirsty election that Harold Wilson

:13:24. > :13:27.had called England World Cup holders, better than 66, losing

:13:28. > :13:33.Jamie George Unzue and the second half they lose throughout -- 3-2 and

:13:34. > :13:38.the nation says that the wasp does Brussels at adding that uses the --

:13:39. > :13:45.and we lose the election. Cameron feeling good at -- about life.

:13:46. > :13:51.Nevertheless, vote for it. He doesn't really know Louise supports.

:13:52. > :13:55.Something in blue. If we lose, who knows that even Boris Johnson who

:13:56. > :13:59.doesn't play football might seem a better prospect. He makes an --

:14:00. > :14:01.looks more like a rubber man to me full tank for joining
