:00:13. > :00:15.Hello and welcome to our look ahead to what the the papers will be

:00:16. > :00:18.With me are Rob Merrick, Westminster Correspondent

:00:19. > :00:24.at South West News Service, and broadcaster Natalie Hayes.

:00:25. > :00:30.The Metro leads with the mass shooting in a Florida nightclub

:00:31. > :00:36.The Times has the same story - it says the attacker swore

:00:37. > :00:39.allegiance to Islamic State before carrying out the killings.

:00:40. > :00:45.While the Telegraph has IS claiming responsibility for the massacre -

:00:46. > :00:48.the terror group is "waging war" on Western gays, it claims.

:00:49. > :00:52.The Express carries some hostile reaction from Leave campaigners

:00:53. > :00:55.to David Cameron's warning that a vote to quit the EU could mean

:00:56. > :00:59.And the Daily Star says England could be thrown out of Euro 2016

:01:00. > :01:14.We will begin with a couple of the newspapers tonight are reporting the

:01:15. > :01:19.shooting of 50 people at the gay nightclub in Florida last night. The

:01:20. > :01:26.metal has it, massacre in gay clubs it says, at least 50 guns down by

:01:27. > :01:30.Daesh fanatic. It is immediately characterised as a terror attack and

:01:31. > :01:35.for some people it doesn't feel the fact that this was a gay nightclub

:01:36. > :01:39.has been emphasised enough? Kind step back from the horror of the

:01:40. > :01:44.attack itself to consider the way the papers have reported it. Really

:01:45. > :01:49.it is striking the emphasis is very much on the fact that this person

:01:50. > :01:53.declared allegiance to IS and not, as I was travelling in this evening

:01:54. > :01:56.it that obvious we would speak about the hate crime carried out by

:01:57. > :02:00.someone who clearly is homophobic and hate gay people and we are in a

:02:01. > :02:09.city where we know violent homophobia is not something that is

:02:10. > :02:13.restricted to Islamists or extreme Muslims, there was nail bombs a cat

:02:14. > :02:18.-- attacks insult will carried out by a white British man. Yes, it is

:02:19. > :02:22.surprising at first sight the emphasis is so much of the fact he

:02:23. > :02:25.swore allegiance but I guess that is perhaps what the newspapers are

:02:26. > :02:31.considering to be the most headlining aspect of the attack and

:02:32. > :02:35.he did apparently swear allegiance to Isis. Hillary Clinton and Barack

:02:36. > :02:40.Obama did say this is a terror attack, this is a hate crime. The

:02:41. > :02:46.fact it happened in this place that is supposed to be a safe space for

:02:47. > :02:53.people late at night and the horror of the attack is palpable. And on

:02:54. > :02:58.pride weekend. I suppose you could argue that the reason it coincides

:02:59. > :03:02.with pride is not coincidental, it's that people felt more able to kiss

:03:03. > :03:08.in the street is the court the metal begins with and as Islamic begins

:03:09. > :03:12.with the Islamic jurist angered by the sight of two men kissing, if

:03:13. > :03:15.only to mind is that pride is a time when generally people who feel they

:03:16. > :03:19.cannot display their affection feel that this is the time we can do

:03:20. > :03:23.this, it is a time of acceptance and pride soldiers especially awful that

:03:24. > :03:27.it was today, although 50 people dead would be all for whatever time.

:03:28. > :03:34.The Times has the story as well. He swore allegiance to Isis and then

:03:35. > :03:39.shot 50 people dead. Of course, Isis, Islamic State, so-called, have

:03:40. > :03:44.claimed responsibility. It feels like an awkward thing, in

:03:45. > :03:49.appropriate thing to say that somebody allied to them, they say,

:03:50. > :03:54.he was an IS fighter, but there is no suggestion that anyone in the IS

:03:55. > :04:01.hierarchy knew about this in advance. I think it is one of those

:04:02. > :04:04.questions that will be played out on the European media and plaguing the

:04:05. > :04:10.FBI because it appears to be the case that they spoke to this man

:04:11. > :04:12.more than once had decided he was problematic but not something they

:04:13. > :04:17.needed to pay much attention to and now look. It is worth pointing out

:04:18. > :04:21.that The Times has not gone with the idea of it being a gay club anywhere

:04:22. > :04:25.in their headline, it is in the first paragraph but not in their

:04:26. > :04:30.headline at all. It is in a subheading but not the top. Again,

:04:31. > :04:34.sitting here in Britain urges much more difficult to get hold of

:04:35. > :04:39.firearms, the fact he has an assault rifle and handgun that he seems to

:04:40. > :04:45.have bought within the last week is always so apparent to us. Yes, it

:04:46. > :04:50.seems just sitting here that the main reasons why this awful crime

:04:51. > :04:53.was carried out was one that the man hate gay people and secondly that he

:04:54. > :04:57.could so easily get hold of an assault rifle in America, people sat

:04:58. > :05:01.around this table discussing it for many years as being absurd and self

:05:02. > :05:05.harming to America but nothing has ever been done. Rather than as we've

:05:06. > :05:11.discussed a second ago, the ices allegiance was to Isis encourages

:05:12. > :05:14.moguls like this business to does not -- like this person because

:05:15. > :05:18.gives people the impression it would carry out acts like this around the

:05:19. > :05:22.world. Building are thinking about this evening was what impacts it

:05:23. > :05:26.would have on the US election and anyone who thinks there is no love

:05:27. > :05:32.that Donald Trump wants think we need to think again because

:05:33. > :05:39.immediately he has thanked people for their congratulations for him

:05:40. > :05:45.being right that Islamic extremism and appeared to be no thought to be

:05:46. > :05:48.dead or their families. Donald Trump saying he reaffirmed his commitment

:05:49. > :05:52.to preventing Muslims who are foreign-born from coming into the

:05:53. > :05:59.US, more reaction to that as well. Lesson away from that story. -- let

:06:00. > :06:04.us move away. The FA urges fans to behave as Uefa threatens expulsion.

:06:05. > :06:08.That is on the style in the -- in a second as well. Russia and England

:06:09. > :06:13.could be thrown out of 2016 F there are more scenes like we saw last

:06:14. > :06:18.night. And the day before and the day before that. It seems like a

:06:19. > :06:21.rotten time to be in English football fan because essentially a

:06:22. > :06:24.spend a couple of days watching people who presumably do not

:06:25. > :06:28.represent you and why you like football behaving appallingly on the

:06:29. > :06:34.streets of Marseille and then you get attacked or run at or alarmed by

:06:35. > :06:38.Russian fans and suddenly like on fear parents someone says I will

:06:39. > :06:43.bang your head together. It doesn't seem like a joyous European cup so

:06:44. > :06:46.far for British fans. I presume everyone will now put their

:06:47. > :06:55.proverbial neck in and behave better. The Daily Star says England

:06:56. > :07:02.face axe from your 2016, Russian fans attacked us but we get warning.

:07:03. > :07:07.England or English fans, or English people, were insult doesn't involve

:07:08. > :07:12.some of those street battles if not in the stadium, which seemed to be

:07:13. > :07:15.more of a charge by Russian fans. I need to declare an interest of the

:07:16. > :07:18.Welshmen because we have a great interest if England are kicked out

:07:19. > :07:24.before the game on Thursday. Reading the story that seems 1 million miles

:07:25. > :07:31.away. Russia is being investigated because it has cost the charge in

:07:32. > :07:36.the stadium and England. They behave badly and Poland several years ago.

:07:37. > :07:39.Yes, but Uefa said they are not carrying out investigations or

:07:40. > :07:41.sanctions just know against England because the violence England fans

:07:42. > :07:45.were pulling for the place outside the stadium so it seems a little

:07:46. > :07:50.relief from we are not investigating you too if that happens again we'll

:07:51. > :07:53.get you out, so we're a long way off from being kicked out of the

:07:54. > :07:56.tournament and just as they've not been responsible for any violence on

:07:57. > :07:59.the ground, which seems crucial. Yes, if you cannot control it in the

:08:00. > :08:03.ground there is something seriously wrong. The fact they were fireworks

:08:04. > :08:10.were surprising to me. I assumed when they said extra security that

:08:11. > :08:13.fireworks, which are explosives, dangerous things, but probably not

:08:14. > :08:17.be there. Turns out I was mistaken. Let that be a lesson to me. Some

:08:18. > :08:24.witnesses we spoke last night said they could not see police in the

:08:25. > :08:28.stadium, although there must have been some. One would presume so.

:08:29. > :08:35.They could be segregated as well. And the disguises, they say people

:08:36. > :08:39.dressing with England shirts. And very king -- confident England will

:08:40. > :08:46.line up against well on Thursday. Your worried or happy Christmas a

:08:47. > :08:51.little or happy Christmas a little of both?. Vindictive Cameron tries

:08:52. > :08:55.Brexit -- Brexit blackmail. More of this florid language. This is David

:08:56. > :09:01.Cameron's suggesting yesterday that there be a 40 billion pound black

:09:02. > :09:09.hole if Britain leaves the EU and some of that would affect pensions.

:09:10. > :09:14.That was the danger. I couldn't help but smile when read the intro. For

:09:15. > :09:17.years and years he has been accused of bribing the elderly into voting

:09:18. > :09:24.Conservative by throwing these goodies at them and now further

:09:25. > :09:27.evidence of how the EU referendum is turning so much of what we thought

:09:28. > :09:31.we knew on its head that David Cameron appears to be turning on

:09:32. > :09:36.pensioners and surprisingly the express that sells heavily to all

:09:37. > :09:41.The People, -- to older people. The other bizarre thing that perhaps

:09:42. > :09:45.points to the Prime Minister's desperation is that one of the

:09:46. > :09:52.things he said might be under threat are free TV licences but as everyone

:09:53. > :09:56.knows, we the BBC will take it on over the next several years. That

:09:57. > :10:02.was strange. I pointed that out last night, it didn't escape me. I was

:10:03. > :10:08.seized upon it to pointed out that there was a slight elasticity about

:10:09. > :10:12.that claim. It feels strange for him to be warning pensioners when he has

:10:13. > :10:17.spent so long giving them goodies many people would see but what he

:10:18. > :10:20.wants to do is to try and make more tangible for people the threat he

:10:21. > :10:23.believes exists from ask pulling out of the EU and one of those would be

:10:24. > :10:31.what we would lose with this black all we have to fill. Both sides

:10:32. > :10:33.never agree on any statistic. It is probably -- properly exhausting that

:10:34. > :10:38.of the statistic ever want to focus on is that David Cameron's voters

:10:39. > :10:45.tend to be older people and more likely to vote Tory than younger

:10:46. > :10:50.people. Older people tend to be more in favour of leaving than remaining,

:10:51. > :10:53.so his natural constituency of older people and pensioners who are in

:10:54. > :11:00.favour of leaving bags some considerable percentage, that is The

:11:01. > :11:04.People he now needs to target. Normally has target demographic, The

:11:05. > :11:06.People he finally cannot win over. He will have to look at the young

:11:07. > :11:16.people. You might wish to use that tendency

:11:17. > :11:20.idea with this next story, Labour voters and what they might tend to

:11:21. > :11:30.do. Labour supporters flood Brexit camp. Jeremy Corbyn is going to be

:11:31. > :11:34.more visible apparently next week. There was the suggestion in one of

:11:35. > :11:38.the papers this morning that suggested he was going to take front

:11:39. > :11:43.stage this week, I am sceptical of that. The PM has two fight every

:11:44. > :11:46.day. On the 16 days to go or something, less than that. Actually

:11:47. > :11:53.he once we've to be out there fighting. Jeremy Corbyn is said to

:11:54. > :11:58.be lukewarm at best about EU membership. We are told he is going

:11:59. > :12:01.to come out fighting, he has been campaigning but has not tended to

:12:02. > :12:06.get the publicity the various warring conservative side is getting

:12:07. > :12:15.the campaign. I am sceptical end the thought that he will win over Brexit

:12:16. > :12:19.because just because he was elected does not mean Labour voters as a

:12:20. > :12:23.whole will identify with him. Tony Blair might have more of an

:12:24. > :12:27.influence on the way labour voters will vote. It was an influence some

:12:28. > :12:31.time ago that Labour and the Conservatives who are drawn staying

:12:32. > :12:36.in the EU should have made it clear this is not about party politics

:12:37. > :12:40.because there is a cognitive dissonance for people who normally

:12:41. > :12:44.vote Labour for example. That's exactly what I think is playing on

:12:45. > :12:49.people's minds and I think not unreasonably the remain camp are

:12:50. > :12:52.pretty keen to hear Jeremy Corbyn say I understand you would like to

:12:53. > :12:58.give Cameron a bloody nose but this is not the time. It is Tom Watson

:12:59. > :13:05.who has given that vote. Do not give the vote to punish the government

:13:06. > :13:08.job as Prime Minister. I imagine job as Prime Minister. I imagine

:13:09. > :13:17.that is what they are hoping Jeremy Corbyn will say to his largely young

:13:18. > :13:24.fan base. And did as a reference to a psychodrama which is a good word

:13:25. > :13:31.to use. Basically the whole thing seems different. The clarity that

:13:32. > :13:35.many people are say they need to understand the issues is probably

:13:36. > :13:38.diminishing for some people. That is probably true and the constant

:13:39. > :13:42.refrain from voters during this campaign has been the more people

:13:43. > :13:47.talk the fewer facts we get and I simply do not see that changing over

:13:48. > :13:52.the next whatever that is, 12 days. I battle let's look at the Telegraph

:13:53. > :13:56.finally. The Queen and Prince Philip in an open top car making their way

:13:57. > :14:02.down the Mall as part of the birthday celebrations. I think the

:14:03. > :14:06.Queen is ready to draw an end to it, telling the driver to put his foot

:14:07. > :14:12.down. Via macro yes, I think they were running late and for these

:14:13. > :14:16.standing outside in the rain and realising they were going to be late

:14:17. > :14:20.for the people they were meeting Sheetal Prince Philip and he banged

:14:21. > :14:27.on the roof of the car and that appears to be a gesture to say Harry

:14:28. > :14:31.upsell and boot your foot down. They caught the time up and that was 11

:14:32. > :14:35.minutes so that is good going. It must have sped down the Mall.

:14:36. > :14:42.You'll both be back at half eleven for another look at the stories

:14:43. > :14:51.Coming up next we will be back with more on the shootings in Orlando in

:14:52. > :14:52.just a
