:00:11. > :00:14.This is BBC News with Martine Croxall.

:00:15. > :00:19.We'll be taking a look at tomorrow mornings papers in a moment -

:00:20. > :00:24.President Obama has condemned the killing of three police officers

:00:25. > :00:34.who were shot dead in the US city of Baton Rouge.

:00:35. > :00:37.The death of these three brave officers underscores the danger

:00:38. > :00:39.that police acroos the country confront every single day.

:00:40. > :00:43.And we as a nation have to be loud and clear that nothing justifies

:00:44. > :00:47.In Turkey, 6,000 people have been arrested as part

:00:48. > :00:51.of a major clampdown in the wake of the failed military coup.

:00:52. > :00:54.Owen Smith formally launches his Labour leadership challenge,

:00:55. > :00:58.saying the party needs to be "radical, but credible."

:00:59. > :01:00.Five people have been injured in a helicopter crash

:01:01. > :01:10.at the Breighton aerodrome in East Yorkshire.

:01:11. > :01:18.Coming up - the female ghostbusters and a Danish horror comedy about

:01:19. > :01:29.chickens. That's in the film review. Hello and welcome to our look ahead

:01:30. > :01:33.to what the the papers will be With me are Anne Ashworth,

:01:34. > :01:36.associate editor of The Times, The Express claims that the UK

:01:37. > :01:49.is on course for a quick exit from the EU, with what it says

:01:50. > :01:52.is a "string of trade deals" already The Telegraph carries

:01:53. > :01:55.a warning from Theresa May, ahead of the vote on renewing

:01:56. > :01:58.Trident, that the threat of nuclear of the attempted coup in Turkey,

:01:59. > :02:04.with President Erdogan threatening to deal with the plot leaders -

:02:05. > :02:07.or in his words, "these The Mail says the failed coup

:02:08. > :02:10.could scupper the EU's deal with Turkey over refugees

:02:11. > :02:14.from Syria, and could lead to what it calls "a

:02:15. > :02:16.fresh migrant surge". 6,000 soldiers, lawyers

:02:17. > :02:19.and judges have been arrested in the crackdown carried

:02:20. > :02:22.out by the Turkish government over The Times calls

:02:23. > :02:28.the Turkish crackdown And also carries on its front page

:02:29. > :02:32.the news of the three US While a break-in at new

:02:33. > :02:39.Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho's London home makes

:02:40. > :02:57.the headlines in The Sun. Let's start with The Mail. Fears of

:02:58. > :03:06.a migrant surge in Turkey. The bloody response could shatter

:03:07. > :03:10.refugee deal. Turkey trying to ensure that refugees did not make

:03:11. > :03:17.their way through to the European Union countries. Why might this

:03:18. > :03:24.happen? The Mail story is that this deal with Turkey, refugees coming

:03:25. > :03:29.into Greece and drop, following on from the coup, President Erdogan

:03:30. > :03:36.saying the arrest of people, 6000, the return of the death penalty,

:03:37. > :03:41.that Turkey could fall into such a state of crisis that these refugees

:03:42. > :03:47.will say you cannot send us back to Turkey but, actually, this is rather

:03:48. > :03:53.lame story. Turkey would have to become a failed state for the

:03:54. > :04:07.refugees to be able to please they could not go back there. -- lead. --

:04:08. > :04:10.asked. The government has control of the machine of the government so it

:04:11. > :04:17.is an entirely different thing. The response from the government is that

:04:18. > :04:23.is not what is going to happen. It is interesting how the important

:04:24. > :04:27.strategic Turkey, at the centre of so many things, and very

:04:28. > :04:34.importantly, the migrant crisis. That deal that migrant not cross the

:04:35. > :04:38.Aegean, seem to have slowed the tide of people coming over and you can

:04:39. > :04:44.see behind this is the great concern in the EU and US that if that starts

:04:45. > :04:51.to fail, all other agreements could fail. The president - we can see how

:04:52. > :05:03.clever he is that saying that we should not intervene in any way

:05:04. > :05:09.because then he could turn around and say that is the end of the

:05:10. > :05:14.migrant deal otherwise. I do not think the headline matches the

:05:15. > :05:17.story. There is a conviction that there will be a power grab,

:05:18. > :05:28.President Erdogan has the opportunity and he will not miss it.

:05:29. > :05:36.In The Guardian, President Erdogan pledging against cleric. Saying the

:05:37. > :05:46.moderate cleric residing in the US, Fethullah Gulen, is behind this. The

:05:47. > :05:53.huge amount of animosity. A huge amount of swelling rumour. Was it

:05:54. > :05:58.Fethullah Gulen, a 70-year-old cleric, who is supposed to have

:05:59. > :06:04.masterminded these? Was it masterminded by President Erdogan

:06:05. > :06:11.himself, that he engineered this so he would be able to seize power and

:06:12. > :06:15.finally silenced the descent within the army which sees its role in

:06:16. > :06:28.Turkish life as defending secularism. We have had several

:06:29. > :06:35.coups in Turkey. They created a secular Muslim country and President

:06:36. > :06:44.Erdogan has seen himself and many of his supporters would not like to see

:06:45. > :06:52.a secular Turkey. Whoever engineered the coup, it played into his hands.

:06:53. > :06:56.How much places are there in the presence? One of the reasons it did

:06:57. > :07:02.not go as well is because they did not have experience in military

:07:03. > :07:13.leaders in charge of it. But he arrested 29 of them. His argument

:07:14. > :07:21.that it was just a small section... What is interesting in that time is

:07:22. > :07:26.and that actually... Bank used his words which said this uprising is a

:07:27. > :07:31.gift from God to us it was this will be a reason to cleanse our army.

:07:32. > :07:37.When you have a speech like that, given outside a mosque, you can see

:07:38. > :07:41.how he is using religion without saying this is in the name of

:07:42. > :07:47.religion, how he is using religion to reshape Turkish society. It is a

:07:48. > :07:55.far cry from the language he used in terms of the intention of his AK

:07:56. > :08:06.Party when he was seeking election. This is a man whose palace is four

:08:07. > :08:16.times the size of Versailles. Did he not say the minaret is our aim that.

:08:17. > :08:23.-- bayonet. The is a section of the Turkish people who do not believe

:08:24. > :08:29.secularism is viable or necessary. Let's move on to The Express. New

:08:30. > :08:34.plans for a quicker excerpts. A bit of a problem because you cannot

:08:35. > :08:42.start writing trade deals until you have invoked Article 50. But they

:08:43. > :08:48.seem to think they are ahead of the curve. We have been raising our

:08:49. > :08:51.eyebrows a bit. We did some calculations outside while having a

:08:52. > :08:57.cup of tea and, if this man, David Davis, says he will have a large

:08:58. > :09:05.trade area eager than the European Union, probably ten times the size

:09:06. > :09:16.that now, if the EU GDP is 16 trillion that is a massive... $16

:09:17. > :09:21.trillion... The whole of the world is 106 trillion dollars which means

:09:22. > :09:31.we would end up with a trade deal of 160 trillion dollars. Maybe if new

:09:32. > :09:38.countries would be discovered... New planets! This is very cynical of you

:09:39. > :09:44.both. Putting the figures to one side, people were saying it would

:09:45. > :09:49.take ten years to agree on these trade deals but it appears they are

:09:50. > :09:54.making progress and it is not going to take that long. It is not until

:09:55. > :10:01.early next year we will trigger Article 50 which means the ALS is

:10:02. > :10:07.2019 and that is not that early and if the Brexit boat has taught us

:10:08. > :10:11.anything is that the country does not trust the political class and

:10:12. > :10:15.they should be aware of that now and not make statements which suggests

:10:16. > :10:23.they can do something that cannot be done. None of this ball scrutiny yet

:10:24. > :10:30.people are so staff because it sounds kind of impressive. Our

:10:31. > :10:38.producer wasn't the man with the calculator! He is a blushing,

:10:39. > :10:47.apparently. In the Telegraph, Trident. May, the Prime Minister,

:10:48. > :10:54.calling on MPs to back Trident when it gets voted upon. Where is this

:10:55. > :11:03.threat coming from? I think again, Theresa May in her first public

:11:04. > :11:06.statement on nuclear threats has over done it. It would be

:11:07. > :11:11.nonsensical to renounce nuclear weapons because it will not lead to

:11:12. > :11:17.nuclear disarmament but to say there is a risk of it, why should there be

:11:18. > :11:22.a risk? After all, and nuclear defence is based on our alliance

:11:23. > :11:27.with Nato and America and we having nuclear weapons does not make any

:11:28. > :11:34.difference but there is a case for saying that so many countries have

:11:35. > :11:41.them, why should we give it up? At some point today, Mr Corbyn said

:11:42. > :11:49.that his whole career had been involved in peace transformation -

:11:50. > :12:03.whatever that - we know that he is very violently against Trident. But

:12:04. > :12:09.you can put forward a Trident case without saying we are going to face

:12:10. > :12:16.nuclear devastation. You can say no other countries have no nuclear

:12:17. > :12:24.weapon. Jeremy Corbyn's ideas frankly do not hold water. But there

:12:25. > :12:30.is a cost of renewing at. But we are getting $350 million a week back

:12:31. > :12:38.from the EU and that will come in at a cracking pace. LAUGHTER He is

:12:39. > :12:44.cynical tonight. I think you both are! Quite jaded, like most people.

:12:45. > :12:52.It is very poor relies on, the Trident debate. In that Independent,

:12:53. > :12:57.a new centre-left party is needed. This is an historic opportunity to

:12:58. > :13:05.build a new alliance. It smacks of the gang of four in 1989. Yes, if

:13:06. > :13:12.these works, it could be more substantial. Let's say the Labour

:13:13. > :13:17.Party re-elected Jeremy Corbyn. We still have a big chunk of MPs still

:13:18. > :13:23.not happy with him. That could be the opposition was not would it be a

:13:24. > :13:26.rainbow coalition, a new party? It would bring together all the people

:13:27. > :13:30.not happy with the Conservatives and with Labour. There could be some

:13:31. > :13:34.appeal to this because I have been talking to young people lately and a

:13:35. > :13:39.stake they did not like Labour and could not see themselves are voting

:13:40. > :13:51.Tory. What a party in the centre? Wasn't that the Lib Dems? A party of

:13:52. > :13:57.all the talents... There would be some Conservatives but defections

:13:58. > :14:03.from Labour are very possible because they are insurrection. You

:14:04. > :14:09.are keen to get ahead of yourself tonight. Angela Eagle and Owen Smith

:14:10. > :14:18.champing at the bit to be Labour leader. Owen Smith has agreed that

:14:19. > :14:26.if more people agree to support Angela Eagle he would withdraw... I

:14:27. > :14:36.have to have a closer look at this guy, he's very JFK... What part of

:14:37. > :14:43.JFK? LAUGHTER. Charisma and he looked like a leader. Angela Eagle

:14:44. > :14:51.is quite a good cricketer so if she gets elected, we will have two

:14:52. > :14:56.leaders who are good cricketers. Angela Eagle... A friend of mine

:14:57. > :15:06.played with her and she's quite good offspinner. Off-spin! That is not

:15:07. > :15:16.easy or stop WoW. Finally, The Sun. Burglar... Burglar at a ?25 million

:15:17. > :15:27.home as the Manchester United boss watched TV.

:15:28. > :15:31.What is interesting about this story is he has gone from Manchester

:15:32. > :15:37.United but hasn't moved from Manchester. What does this say? Not

:15:38. > :15:42.a good time to be selling a house of that value in the London market. The

:15:43. > :15:46.top of the London market, a ?25 million property, he probably

:15:47. > :15:54.wouldn't find a ready buyer in the current market. And after Brexit,

:15:55. > :15:59.what would happen with his contract with Manchester United? I wonder

:16:00. > :16:03.what he was watching which was so engrossing quest Pack I believe it

:16:04. > :16:06.was the BBC News Channel. That is it for the papers. Coming up next, The

:16:07. > :16:10.Film Review.
