:00:16. > :00:18.Hello and welcome to our look ahead to what the the papers will be

:00:19. > :00:21.With me are the writer and broadcaster, Natalie Haynes

:00:22. > :00:23.and the Westminster Correspondent for South West News Service,

:00:24. > :00:30.The FT says Santander is to halve the interest rate on one

:00:31. > :00:32.of its current accounts in a move expected to be followed

:00:33. > :00:41.The Metro shows a picture of the former Aston Villa

:00:42. > :00:43.footballer Dalian Atkinson, who died after being tasered

:00:44. > :00:47.An investigation's been launched by the police watchdog.

:00:48. > :00:50.The Telegraph says the Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt will name

:00:51. > :00:52.and shame parts of England which are failing dementia

:00:53. > :00:58.sufferers, in what's been called a "postcode lottery" of care.

:00:59. > :01:01.The Mail also has that story, saying some elderly sufferers can go

:01:02. > :01:06.a year without their needs being assessed.

:01:07. > :01:09.The Guardian looks at a report about the economic effect of Brexit,

:01:10. > :01:11.which says any pay boost workers receive because of a fall

:01:12. > :01:14.in immigration would be overshadowed by a faltering economy.

:01:15. > :01:16.The main picture shows Charlotte Dujardin wiping away

:01:17. > :01:18.a tear after winning another gold for Team GB in the

:01:19. > :01:27.And the Times reports on Boris Johnson's political

:01:28. > :01:30.rehabilitation after he was put in charge of the country

:01:31. > :01:46.while Theresa May continues her summer holidays.

:01:47. > :01:54.We start with The Times. News of more GB success. A fetching

:01:55. > :01:58.photograph. Doesn't she seemed delightful and so very happy? I feel

:01:59. > :02:03.bad because I have on occasion in the past marked dressage as being

:02:04. > :02:10.intrinsically a bit silly on account of it being a horse dancing too, at

:02:11. > :02:15.one point this afternoon, cut Queen. Who saw that coming? She knew what

:02:16. > :02:23.she had to do, get music that fitted the occasion, and she got super high

:02:24. > :02:28.marks for her artistic... I am smirking even as I say it. She has

:02:29. > :02:32.done brilliantly. The fact I think horses dancing is a bit silly is

:02:33. > :02:40.rude and terrible and I apologise. Hooray for her. Do I have a medal?

:02:41. > :02:45.Who is the real winner, she is. I have watched more than my fair share

:02:46. > :02:50.of the Olympics so it seems a bit unfair that we are celebrating a

:02:51. > :02:56.sport I known nothing about and have never watched. I gather it involves

:02:57. > :03:03.the horse dancing so does the horrors get the medal? It gets the

:03:04. > :03:12.rosette. The horse gets lots of acclaim from the rider. And sugar

:03:13. > :03:18.lumps. It sounds snarky but I saw an interview and she said she was going

:03:19. > :03:28.to give them some sugar. Dressage it's no attention between the

:03:29. > :03:33.Olympics so I suppose it is great. They go sideways and it looks

:03:34. > :03:37.difficult, and diagonal, and it looks difficult. And the thing with

:03:38. > :03:45.the... She did brilliantly. Hooray for her. Are you captivated by the

:03:46. > :03:51.wider success of Team GB? I am just captivated by the Olympics. I don't

:03:52. > :03:56.get so wrapped up as we are Britain is in the medals table. I would

:03:57. > :04:02.rather see more focus on what is good or not good about the Olympic

:04:03. > :04:09.'s as a whole. We are obviously amazed by everyone's success. I have

:04:10. > :04:16.been up all night watching, last night you seen Bolt, the night

:04:17. > :04:22.before Mo Farah. This morning when I went running I was almost half as

:04:23. > :04:30.fast as Mo Farah. He does it all the time so in terms of hours of

:04:31. > :04:35.training in terms of several minutes, I am batting quite high.

:04:36. > :04:46.Take us to The Guardian and the Sports Direct story. ?1 million for

:04:47. > :04:54.staff. People met... Might remember The Guardian's story about this.

:04:55. > :05:00.This seems to be the power of the press and the power of MPs because

:05:01. > :05:06.Mike Ashley was hauled in by a committee of a hard time and was

:05:07. > :05:15.forced to admit that his company was underpaying its staff or some of

:05:16. > :05:21.them. Now we learn that payments will be backdated to 2012 and some

:05:22. > :05:30.people could receive up to ?1000 for the money they should have been

:05:31. > :05:37.paid. Back pay of around ?1 million. Divided between 200 direct

:05:38. > :05:47.unpleasant 3000 temp agency staff. It gives you an idea of how they

:05:48. > :06:02.fill the warehouse. The downside as always is that so far one of the

:06:03. > :06:12.agencies, 1700 will not be paid back pay for the four that agency to

:06:13. > :06:20.cover. -- took over. It would be nice to think that it is not the

:06:21. > :06:24.only offender breaking the law. Perhaps this kind of story will have

:06:25. > :06:29.an effect and persuade rogue employers to think twice. The front

:06:30. > :06:43.of The Telegraph, I think it is in the mail also. The scandal of

:06:44. > :06:49.dementia care. It can truly surprise anybody because standards of medical

:06:50. > :06:53.care is one of those awkward things, we all agree we would like things to

:06:54. > :06:59.be done locally and NHS shouldn't be one big monolith with no local

:07:00. > :07:03.accountability but if you do things locally some places will be better

:07:04. > :07:06.than others and so some of the measures for example about living

:07:07. > :07:10.well and dying well, being treated in your home, having your needs

:07:11. > :07:18.assessed rather than treated in hospital, you seem to have a better

:07:19. > :07:24.time if you have dementia in Devon and Cornwall, Cumbria and East

:07:25. > :07:32.Anglia and a worse time if you are in Tower Hamlets, Hounslow or new. I

:07:33. > :07:39.would be loath to suggest that those places are not trying. I would

:07:40. > :07:41.suggest having a high quantity of residents in considerable poverty

:07:42. > :07:45.and probably a lot of those people living in flats which will not be

:07:46. > :07:50.suitable for people who have dementia, will be in small places

:07:51. > :07:53.you can't easily get care workers into or adapt, it means you'll end

:07:54. > :07:59.up with more people in hospital. I would not say it is as easy as

:08:00. > :08:05.shaking finger in judgment and telling them to try harder. The

:08:06. > :08:09.politics is going back to what you said a moment ago, if you are down

:08:10. > :08:14.towards the end, the wrong end of this table, there should be,

:08:15. > :08:19.politicians would argue, an incentive to try to reach the other

:08:20. > :08:24.end of the table but it is not as simple as that. It is the aim of

:08:25. > :08:28.naming and shaming exercises that people will be dragged up. Better

:08:29. > :08:37.dementia care was a big crusade for the previous Prime Minister so this

:08:38. > :08:53.appears to be continuing under his successor. Some of the criticism was

:08:54. > :09:00.that there was not the treatment to enable people's lives to be improved

:09:01. > :09:04.once they had been identified. Perhaps this is trying to take the

:09:05. > :09:07.dementia crusade a stage further by having these other measures and

:09:08. > :09:12.categories which focus more on the treatment they are receiving rather

:09:13. > :09:20.than simply being identified. But try to squeeze three more in. A sad

:09:21. > :09:25.story in the Metro regarding the former Premier League footballer.

:09:26. > :09:33.And enormous shock for people like me who remember Atkinson. He was a

:09:34. > :09:44.big, powerful guy. He couldn't be defeated. Shocking when someone like

:09:45. > :09:50.that is killed after being Taser at. Controversial circumstances will be

:09:51. > :09:58.investigated. I think the controversy surrounding Taser 's had

:09:59. > :10:04.gone away a bit but... And there had been very few deaths and they have

:10:05. > :10:14.become part of what the police do and it is hard to imagine that as

:10:15. > :10:21.going to change. In the coming days as more mergers and we get something

:10:22. > :10:24.from IPCC, a clearer picture. The questions which will have to be

:10:25. > :10:31.asked are about people who already have health conditions being hit

:10:32. > :10:36.with a Taser. The Times suggests that he really had kidney and heart

:10:37. > :10:39.conditions and that may be a problem that we are not addressing that not

:10:40. > :10:47.everybody who the police are going to shoot a Taser at Scone to be in

:10:48. > :10:53.peak health and these things tend to be practised with other officers who

:10:54. > :10:57.are good to be relatively healthy. I am going to end with the political

:10:58. > :11:01.rehabilitation of the former Mayor of London and now Foreign Secretary.

:11:02. > :11:10.Would-be Prime Minister once perhaps. Or as Johnson, years now in

:11:11. > :11:15.charge of the country? Milk might have gone sour in my fridge. Let's

:11:16. > :11:20.hope nothing terrible happens in the next week. The thought that someone

:11:21. > :11:23.who can barely dress themselves is in charge of the country makes me

:11:24. > :11:33.feel a little bit like crying. Switzerland is not that far away.

:11:34. > :11:38.Theresa May can get back in a hurry and somebody can perhaps put him in

:11:39. > :11:41.a maze or something. There was a flurry of delight when we learned

:11:42. > :11:46.that Boris Johnson was a senior minister in charge. The

:11:47. > :11:52.disappointing thing was that the word we got back was he had no plans

:11:53. > :12:08.for anything significant to happen this week. He had plans not to get

:12:09. > :12:11.caught on as a wire over London. I don't think we will see too much of

:12:12. > :12:17.him over the next couple of days. I am struck by the court from The

:12:18. > :12:23.Times from a spokesman from Number Ten, the Prime Minister is very much

:12:24. > :12:28.in charge and is constantly kept abreast of what is going on in

:12:29. > :12:30.Switzerland. That is it for the papers this hour. Thank you to our

:12:31. > :12:51.guests. Next it is the weather. We have seen some lovely sunsets out

:12:52. > :12:53.there to finish today in which we saw blue skies from the
