:00:00. > :00:00.They announced God in public. The latest epic from Mark insults Martin
:00:00. > :00:30.Scorcese. -- from Martin Scorcese. Welcome to you both. We have to work
:00:31. > :00:37.a bit harder this time. Before we look into the stories, let's look at
:00:38. > :00:44.the front pages. The Financial Times leads on what it would call a ?24
:00:45. > :00:52.billion expedition on closing oil rigs in the North Sea. Theresa May
:00:53. > :00:57.says her comments on Brexit is the biggest key yet that we will be
:00:58. > :01:01.leaving the single market. SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon is calling
:01:02. > :01:06.for another independence referendum for Scotland unless the UK holds on
:01:07. > :01:09.to single market access. The Telegraph reports that Boris Johnson
:01:10. > :01:16.is in New York meeting some of Donald Trump's top team. A star is
:01:17. > :01:25.forecasting an Arctic blast that these UK as freezing weather that
:01:26. > :01:30.has killed people in North America and Europe heads here. The Queen
:01:31. > :01:35.makes her first public appearance since a heavy cold has caused had at
:01:36. > :01:45.cancel Christmas engagements. The Sun says it to NHS patients die
:01:46. > :01:51.everyday from first. Compensation is demanded from Volkswagen over the
:01:52. > :01:56.company's omission scandal. Boris Johnson has gone to New York. That
:01:57. > :02:05.is where we will start. Johnson in the US as may speaks out on Trump.
:02:06. > :02:09.The Foreign Secretary heads West. Theresa May was asked about Donald
:02:10. > :02:15.Trump's misogynistic comments during the election campaign. Boris Johnson
:02:16. > :02:21.was critical of Donald Trump as well and then changed his mind. He might
:02:22. > :02:26.have had some patching up to do? Boris Johnson was clearly out of his
:02:27. > :02:32.mind, is what he said, when he was talking about the ban on Muslims
:02:33. > :02:39.entering the US but then he quickly changed things around. He said no,
:02:40. > :02:48.the billionaire was a dealmaker and he wants to change the
:02:49. > :02:57.whinge-a-rama. I think it interesting, Theresa May speaks out
:02:58. > :03:10.on Trump, she didn't actually. It was about his comments about ladies.
:03:11. > :03:18.Where men, not ladies. -- women. Whatever makes you feel comfortable.
:03:19. > :03:22.She said she didn't agree with it. It was unacceptable. However, he
:03:23. > :03:26.said it about himself and has already apologised. Headline here
:03:27. > :03:30.isn't quite right. It's not like Johnson is out there because she has
:03:31. > :03:34.spoken out. Johnson is out there to meet the team. How important is the
:03:35. > :03:40.Trump administration going to be for us? Obviously very important. This
:03:41. > :03:45.is quite a surprise story because we didn't know Boris Johnson was going,
:03:46. > :03:53.we didn't know Theresa May's chief staff had been to meet the Trump
:03:54. > :03:58.team. Theresa May, once again, has on the quiet refused to give a
:03:59. > :04:03.running commentary and has been doing important work in the
:04:04. > :04:09.background. To be fair, she is without doubt known as an incredibly
:04:10. > :04:13.hard-working individual. She does her homework before she announces
:04:14. > :04:17.things. It does not surprise me a jot that she is doing the work. She
:04:18. > :04:22.has had phone calls with Trump himself and he wants to be the new
:04:23. > :04:26.Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher relationship. They want to build on
:04:27. > :04:29.the special relationship. She couldn't be more different, really,
:04:30. > :04:41.could she? Considering how little she is on Twitter. This is the
:04:42. > :04:47.interview with Sophie Rich on Sky today, giving us a clue, or not,
:04:48. > :04:50.John, on where we are heading on Brexit. Not much of a clue. The
:04:51. > :04:54.problem with these big interviews with the Prime Minister is that she
:04:55. > :04:59.did not depart much from the previous script and she made it as
:05:00. > :05:03.clear as she could without being utterly defective. Britain is not
:05:04. > :05:05.going to be a member of the single market after we least because
:05:06. > :05:13.controlling immigration is more important to her. But isn't that
:05:14. > :05:17.clearer than what she has been for some people 's tastes? She is not
:05:18. > :05:21.clear as to whether access to the single market is on the table or
:05:22. > :05:26.not. People knew that you couldn't have Brexit and stay in the single
:05:27. > :05:32.market. David Cameron clearly said it, to stay in the single market
:05:33. > :05:35.means that you would accept freedom of movement, except paying into the
:05:36. > :05:39.community and accept laws made by them and people said that they don't
:05:40. > :05:44.want that say she said very clearly today that we can't have a little
:05:45. > :05:48.bit or take little bits of what is on offer of the year you. We have
:05:49. > :05:53.said we are coming out but what we will do is get the best deal for the
:05:54. > :05:57.UK on trading. That is what she said going forward. It was a lot clearer
:05:58. > :06:00.but you are quite right, she is a poker player and hasn't really
:06:01. > :06:07.revealed her plans stop she will need those poker playing skills when
:06:08. > :06:12.she goes into deal with the other 27 countries. It is taking quite a
:06:13. > :06:15.while for the penny to drop. A lot of people who voted remain don't
:06:16. > :06:19.like the idea of not being part of the single market will stop she is
:06:20. > :06:22.being asked about it all the time and just want to be completely
:06:23. > :06:27.definitive because she is entering a constipated negotiation. In the
:06:28. > :06:31.Telegraph, schools will be trying to spot mental illness in pupils. We
:06:32. > :06:34.are expecting an announcement from the Prime Minister tomorrow about
:06:35. > :06:41.extra help for people with mental health. She wants to end the stigma
:06:42. > :06:45.of suffering people have. She is giving a big speech on social policy
:06:46. > :06:52.tomorrow which will take further what she said in her sky interview
:06:53. > :06:59.about wanting to end the stigma of mental illness. This is very
:07:00. > :07:04.important. A good thing to say. Very easy for a new Prime Minister to say
:07:05. > :07:08.because she hasn't had time to have to deliver on it. Delivering on it
:07:09. > :07:12.is going to be more difficult and we look forward to seeing the details
:07:13. > :07:19.in the speech. There aren't many details in the Telegraph story. More
:07:20. > :07:23.to come. There is an element of best practice in here. I have a friend
:07:24. > :07:32.who said what she did in her school of which they have much ... They had
:07:33. > :07:37.someone like this looking out for girls, this was a girls at school,
:07:38. > :07:41.eating disorders, whether it was depression, anxiety. She said they
:07:42. > :07:46.had increased within that school and had already Internet abyss and was
:07:47. > :07:54.showing really positive results. -- -- implemented this. They want to
:07:55. > :08:00.expand it out to everybody. I think it is 50% will have had a mental
:08:01. > :08:08.disorder or illness by the age of 14. They say to a young and support
:08:09. > :08:12.people. But you need them to have child mental health services which
:08:13. > :08:16.is chronically underfunded. It is one thing to spot them but we then
:08:17. > :08:21.need to treat them. Listening to Theresa May's interview. She said
:08:22. > :08:25.this isn't all about money. A lot of it is about prevention. She talked
:08:26. > :08:29.about what she had done when she was in the Home Office and what she had
:08:30. > :08:32.done in prisons. This is about preventing it and saying whether
:08:33. > :08:37.help is needed, speaking to the parents, getting support in schools.
:08:38. > :08:45.What can we do to join the dots? I think it is a positive start. Let's
:08:46. > :08:57.look at the Son. Shocking figures here on the number of people who
:08:58. > :09:03.malnutrition has caused their death. A dramatic front page. Not directly
:09:04. > :09:09.related to the stories from the Red Cross. It is about the sort of
:09:10. > :09:16.rashes on the NHS. Not quite as dramatic as it seems -- pressures.
:09:17. > :09:21.Did I every day of its burst or malnutrition is overdoing it. First
:09:22. > :09:27.or starvation is on the death certificate as a factor in these
:09:28. > :09:34.people but it is obviously, as people are dying, their bodies are
:09:35. > :09:42.shutting down so water and food are going to become issues. It is not as
:09:43. > :09:46.clear-cut as Sun is making out. It is saying the NHS staff are so
:09:47. > :09:50.overworked they don't have time to help people eat and drink when they
:09:51. > :09:55.need that help. I think it is a much more placate a picture than what we
:09:56. > :09:59.were talking about it earlier. It also refers to the Liverpool pathway
:10:00. > :10:08.which was stopped in 2013. Where food and drink was removed, wasn't
:10:09. > :10:12.it? Absolutely. If it is through negligence, that is awful, what can
:10:13. > :10:17.we do? That is not a way for a relative to pass away. But if it is
:10:18. > :10:21.chosen path to go down, it is very different. That is why we have here,
:10:22. > :10:27.although deaths have gone up this year, they down more than 1000 from
:10:28. > :10:33.the preceding decade and that is because they stopped the Liverpool
:10:34. > :10:37.pathway in 2013. Again, read the item, it is far more complicated and
:10:38. > :10:41.not as drastic as apes as on the front page but I can tell you, any
:10:42. > :10:44.of these people who have not got compensation who have seen their
:10:45. > :10:50.parents not looked after properly, is wrong, it needs to be stopped.
:10:51. > :10:58.Let's look at the mail. Give us ?3000 each. British drivers tell VW.
:10:59. > :11:07.Why? Why do they want this money? BW was done for cheating emissions
:11:08. > :11:15.tests. In America, owners of the VW cars have been given compensation.
:11:16. > :11:21.-- VW was done. British and European drivers think they should have some
:11:22. > :11:25.as well. Big bill. It is also surprising that the states not part
:11:26. > :11:28.of the EU have got their money straightaway and if you are part of
:11:29. > :11:37.the EU, you haven't got anything! Wait for two years and you might get
:11:38. > :11:42.it. Just thought I would mention it. It is amazing that nobody in the EU
:11:43. > :11:46.has got compensation and America has already done the deal. Just saying,
:11:47. > :11:56.just putting it out there. Draw your own conclusions! Finally, the Times,
:11:57. > :12:01.thousands of British holidays face ruin as drought is declared. U2
:12:02. > :12:08.don't care for this story. Why not? -- you guys. It is not snowing in
:12:09. > :12:13.the Alps and it is snowing in funny places like the Greek islands. That
:12:14. > :12:17.is a more interesting story. We could also have freezing
:12:18. > :12:22.temperatures. But for a little bit less of snow in I know you are
:12:23. > :12:30.interested, but we were not as interested. I'm naturally curious
:12:31. > :12:33.about so many things. I think as you said to put the juxtaposition that
:12:34. > :12:38.that freezing conditions in Greece but not in a snow in the Alps made
:12:39. > :12:42.it an interesting story. Thank you, I'm glad you listened to my appeals
:12:43. > :12:46.to try and say something. I could have talked about that story myself
:12:47. > :12:50.but I thought I would give them a hand. The point is, there have been
:12:51. > :12:57.so little rain but they are not even allowed to make fake snow! Which you
:12:58. > :13:00.can normally. Fake snow? How can you be so keen on skiing that you will
:13:01. > :13:05.actually go to the lengths of creating fake snow on the mountain?
:13:06. > :13:12.There is a lot of money involved. Water could be used from the
:13:13. > :13:17.mountain reservoirs. Those pictures were of where there is too much of
:13:18. > :13:20.snow or smelling odd places. Turkey and Greece, causing enormous
:13:21. > :13:28.problems for people. And fatalities, of course, as well. That is the
:13:29. > :13:33.papers for tonight. John, Esther, they give very much. We always like
:13:34. > :13:39.you. You can read a decal review on our website. -- details.
:13:40. > :13:49.It should be on iPlayer as well. No doubt you will tell me if it isn't.
:13:50. > :13:50.From all of us, it's good mate. Coming up next, the film review.
