:00:18. > :00:21.Hello and welcome to our look ahead to what the the papers will be
:00:22. > :00:24.With me is the political commentator, Vincent Moss
:00:25. > :00:26.and the broadcaster, Charlie Wolf.
:00:27. > :00:33.Tomorrow's front pages, starting with:
:00:34. > :00:36.The Sunday Times' front page says a head teacher in Oldham fears
:00:37. > :00:39.for her safety because of an alleged plot by Islamic extremists to take
:00:40. > :00:43.The Observer leads with a leaked report warning of chaos
:00:44. > :00:48.for EU nationals living in the UK after Brexit.
:00:49. > :00:51.The Mail on Sunday reports of child sexual abuse claims against former
:00:52. > :01:01.The Sunday Express carries a story about young children of alcoholics
:01:02. > :01:05.calling a helpline and asking to be read bedtime stories
:01:06. > :01:10.The Sunday Telegraph reports that Russia plotted to remove
:01:11. > :01:14.the government of Montenegro and assassinate its Prime
:01:15. > :01:29.Those are the front pages. Let's have a more in-depth discussion.
:01:30. > :01:41.Good evening to you both. Shall we start with the Observer? Another
:01:42. > :01:45.Brexit story. Their Brussels's correspondent has part of a leaked
:01:46. > :01:49.report from MEPs in the European Parliament that suggests there is
:01:50. > :01:53.doubt over the fate of EU citizens living in Britain, what happens to
:01:54. > :02:00.them once Brexit is underway. They will be end and a legal no man's
:02:01. > :02:05.land. Will there be a cut-off date if you live here as an EU citizen?
:02:06. > :02:09.When will that be? What will happen to British citizens abroad. It is
:02:10. > :02:14.one of the thorny problems Theresa May has got. If you are an EU
:02:15. > :02:21.citizen living in Britain, I think you would be worried about what your
:02:22. > :02:25.status would be. There should be a grandfather clause. If you are here
:02:26. > :02:31.legally originally, you should have a right to stay. I think you have a
:02:32. > :02:35.right to have time to leave, I cannot see this country just kicking
:02:36. > :02:42.them out. I cannot see it being physically done. It is one of those
:02:43. > :02:45.semi-scare stories. Our immigration records are not particularly
:02:46. > :02:50.brilliant so the status of certain people won't be that clear. It
:02:51. > :02:56.almost works in their paper. Potentially. If you haven't got the
:02:57. > :03:00.paperwork, you might have a problem. We did have a story earlier in the
:03:01. > :03:04.week where Theresa May had said she was confident there wasn't going to
:03:05. > :03:10.be an issue. But it wasn't clear. Exactly. There will be time to go
:03:11. > :03:15.through Brexit, like a two-year process, so people should have been
:03:16. > :03:19.a warning at some point as to what is happening. C, do you want to pick
:03:20. > :03:26.up the next one, the Sunday Times. It is more Brexit. Tim Shipman in
:03:27. > :03:32.the Times. Downing Street officials believe part of Britain's annual aid
:03:33. > :03:39.Bridget should support a new deal for countries in the European Union,
:03:40. > :03:45.including Poland and Hungary. I have heard this story in the past, these
:03:46. > :03:48.are countries that are more amenable to as leaving because they
:03:49. > :03:54.understand how we feel. Having been under the grip of communism.
:03:55. > :03:59.Essentially they are saying, let's pay them. Let's give our aid budget,
:04:00. > :04:02.tell the European Union where we will send our money, which I don't
:04:03. > :04:10.think Jean-Claude Juncker would be happy with. Those people will of
:04:11. > :04:18.course negotiate on our behalf and within the EU for a better deal.
:04:19. > :04:24.There is fights over this money within the UK Government, because
:04:25. > :04:28.this department is saying this is our money, not yours. If it will
:04:29. > :04:33.stir up Brussels, it will have to work. They are looking at this as a
:04:34. > :04:37.sweetener, giving these countries, the likes of Poland, Hungary
:04:38. > :04:44.elsewhere, the Baltic areas, this cash as a trade deal sweetener. Also
:04:45. > :04:49.it plays into the conservative agenda, they don't want it going to
:04:50. > :04:53.India, Africa and other such places. They would rather see it in the UK,
:04:54. > :04:59.but if not, close to home. So another Brexit story. Which leads
:05:00. > :05:04.nicely onto the front page of the express, India and foreign aid.
:05:05. > :05:09.Vincent, they are saying they never asked for it in the first place?
:05:10. > :05:13.This is an interview with the Indian High Commissioner over here. He said
:05:14. > :05:20.we never asked for any foreign aid. Britain just gave it to us. India is
:05:21. > :05:24.seen as having a lot of wealth in certain areas, but not in other
:05:25. > :05:29.areas. But the High Commissioner says very nice things about England
:05:30. > :05:33.and the UK and says it would be a winning situation, relations are
:05:34. > :05:38.very good, we both excel in high-tech technology. We all get on
:05:39. > :05:42.very well. But there are questions as to why we are sending this money
:05:43. > :05:48.to one of the world's wealthiest countries. This money has to be
:05:49. > :05:55.given away, if they want to get rid of it, PO Box 238, small bills only.
:05:56. > :05:58.But it is the silliness of how this target driven thing is setup. They
:05:59. > :06:04.have tonnes of money they don't know what to do with. I know what they
:06:05. > :06:07.could do with it, send it to me, but hospitals, the police and things
:06:08. > :06:11.that need to be done in this country, they cannot spend it here.
:06:12. > :06:17.Referring back to the last story on the European story, even that, the
:06:18. > :06:22.OECD tells this country where it has to send its money and they cannot
:06:23. > :06:26.send it to these countries to Poland and I think Albania was mentioned as
:06:27. > :06:32.one of the few that qualifies, which isn't in the EU. I find it amazing,
:06:33. > :06:37.it is this country's money, but they cannot be told how and where to
:06:38. > :06:44.spend it. Go figure. Go to the Telegraph. Russia plotting to
:06:45. > :06:56.assassinate the Prime Minister of Montenegrin. Great old-fashioned
:06:57. > :07:00.Sunday newspaper story. Saying the Kremlin was plotting to oust the
:07:01. > :07:04.government and kill the Prime Minister on a planned coup on
:07:05. > :07:09.election day and it cites it was one of the most blatant recent attempts
:07:10. > :07:13.at Russian meddling. It is sourced from Whitehall sources, so something
:07:14. > :07:18.going round the MoD and the Foreign Office. It plays into that broad
:07:19. > :07:25.theme that Putin and Russia are meddling all over, certainly parts
:07:26. > :07:30.of Europe, if not the world. But it is a great old-fashioned story. Here
:07:31. > :07:34.is an opening scene from a James Bond movie. The pair that were over
:07:35. > :07:41.their setting things up, spent months overseeing the recruitment of
:07:42. > :07:54.a small force of Serbian nationals and to arm them. The plot was to
:07:55. > :07:58.kill the Prime Minister and the Kremlin strongly denies this. But at
:07:59. > :08:02.this level, they say Putin had to know of it and have do approve of
:08:03. > :08:08.it. This is going into the Nato argument. You have Michael Pence,
:08:09. > :08:14.the vice president talking to the security meeting today about Nato,
:08:15. > :08:19.saying listen, you need to give up the cash and hit the 2%. Germany
:08:20. > :08:24.doesn't want to. They are calling it a holdover from the cold War and it
:08:25. > :08:32.throws up new arguments. Without having to take over a small country.
:08:33. > :08:38.Vincent, it is interesting they used British intelligence on this, to try
:08:39. > :08:42.and unravel the plot? Yes, Whitehall sources and British intelligence on
:08:43. > :08:48.the Russians is good. Sometimes it is not so good in other parts of the
:08:49. > :08:52.world, but Ben Farmer has good contacts in that area. It isn't a
:08:53. > :09:05.movie yet, but it probably will be in the next couple of years.
:09:06. > :09:14.The The Mail, this is a story that has been rumbling for a while. This
:09:15. > :09:19.police operation was set up a year ago. It is surrounding Sir Ted
:09:20. > :09:22.Heath. What the Mail on Sunday is alleging, the police chief in charge
:09:23. > :09:29.of this enquiry quotes him as saying, a source close to him saying
:09:30. > :09:34.the Wiltshire Chief Constable is 120% sure there is some truth to the
:09:35. > :09:37.allegations. It is based on the fact that one of the reasons around Ted
:09:38. > :09:42.Heath said he couldn't have been involved because he couldn't drive a
:09:43. > :09:45.car, didn't have a car and he was always chauffeur driven. The Mail on
:09:46. > :09:50.Sunday has produced photos showing Ted Heath in a car. That means he
:09:51. > :09:54.did have a Kaka so there could be something there. It is a very long
:09:55. > :09:59.read, and there have been allegations around various people,
:10:00. > :10:03.but nothing is definitive. The police investigation continues. They
:10:04. > :10:08.are pursuing leads and I have looked at these stories, there are a lot of
:10:09. > :10:12.allegations, some from decades ago. It is hard work for the police to
:10:13. > :10:17.get to the bottom of this. When testimony from victims, many of them
:10:18. > :10:27.from people with incomplete recollection, and an area when there
:10:28. > :10:33.was no CCTV. Sitting in a studio with a lawyer, I wouldn't want to
:10:34. > :10:39.base my testimony on he said, she said, or, he was driving a car. It
:10:40. > :10:45.says the police are refusing to call off the dogs on this. A Tory MP said
:10:46. > :10:50.if Edward Heath was a child abuser, then I am an aardvark. Do you think
:10:51. > :10:56.we will get to the bottom of this? I don't think it will go away any time
:10:57. > :10:59.soon. The idea of a conspiracy involving a Westminster elite will
:11:00. > :11:03.rumble around for years to come. Quickly, let's go back to the Sunday
:11:04. > :11:09.Times and the Trojan horse makes a return. The Sunday Times, a school
:11:10. > :11:17.in Oldham and the headmistress is saying she is being pushed out. Give
:11:18. > :11:22.us a summary of this. It is another chapter in the idea there is Islamic
:11:23. > :11:25.infiltration in schools. It is the latest twist written by Andrew
:11:26. > :11:32.Gilligan. A teacher said she is concerned for her personal safety.
:11:33. > :11:35.Oldham is an area of high Pakistani community and these allegations are
:11:36. > :11:39.around. We are just getting one side of the argument, I am sure the
:11:40. > :11:47.people involved would say it is not the case. Sorry to cut in, but we
:11:48. > :11:52.want to cross to Florida because Mr Trump, I believe is now speaking, or
:11:53. > :11:58.about to speak at this campaign style rally. That is Melania Trump,
:11:59. > :12:03.his wife. It looks like she is opening proceedings for him. A lot
:12:04. > :12:09.of people have been describing this as a reset rally for Donald Trump.
:12:10. > :12:15.He hasn't had the easiest past week, but the last month has been a
:12:16. > :12:19.turbulent one for him. Just recently, his national-security
:12:20. > :12:26.adviser, Michael Flynn, had to quit the job. Interviews for that will be
:12:27. > :12:30.taking place tomorrow. But this rally is seen by Republicans as
:12:31. > :12:35.getting Mr Trump back to his true support base. It is very similar to
:12:36. > :12:43.one that he attended and held in Minnesota during the campaign trail.
:12:44. > :12:47.Very quickly, whilst I have got you here, what do you think about this
:12:48. > :12:54.rally, tying it in with the last week's events? He realises he's us
:12:55. > :12:58.communicate very successfully and efficiently with the public and the
:12:59. > :13:03.press are an obstacle to that. At least, in his eyes. Not much they
:13:04. > :13:07.don't cooperate, but they take a cynical view. He wants to talk
:13:08. > :13:13.directly to the people. President Obama did it frequently. Maybe not
:13:14. > :13:18.necessarily at rallies, but he would find ways of soft interviews, going
:13:19. > :13:23.on the Tonight Show and he is employing the same tactic. Let's
:13:24. > :13:31.listen to what Melania John Harris to say. And where all Americans can
:13:32. > :13:34.work and succeed. A
