:00:21. > :00:23.Hello and welcome to our look ahead to what the papers will be

:00:24. > :00:26.With me are Lucy Fisher, Senior Political Correspondent

:00:27. > :00:29.at the Times, and the journalist and broadcaster Aasmah Mir.

:00:30. > :00:34.Tomorrow's Financial Times leads on BMW's decision

:00:35. > :00:42.to build its new electric Mini in the UK - despite Brexit.

:00:43. > :00:45.Let us take our Charlie home to die - the plea of parents Connie Yates

:00:46. > :00:48.and Chris Gard is top story in the Metro.

:00:49. > :00:50.On the front page of tomorrow's Daily Telegraph -

:00:51. > :00:53.a possible ban on diesel cars, plus a snap from the first

:00:54. > :00:55.day of Theresa's May's summer holiday in Italy.

:00:56. > :00:57.The Express is hopeful about future trade with the US -

:00:58. > :01:00.after President Trump hinted at a "very big and exciting" deal

:01:01. > :01:06.The Times also sounds the death knell for the diesel car -

:01:07. > :01:09.and has the story that milk can now be branded "inhumane"

:01:10. > :01:12.by vegan campaigners after a ruling on advertising.

:01:13. > :01:15.In the Guardian, the claim by Labour that more than 600,000

:01:16. > :01:20.pupils are being taught by unqualified teachers.

:01:21. > :01:23.And in the Daily Mail - once again, the war on cars

:01:24. > :01:30.that burn fossil fuels, to help cut pollution.

:01:31. > :01:40.That is the top story. The times, diesel is banned, the end of the

:01:41. > :01:47.diesel and petrol car. We knew this was coming, but there is a date

:01:48. > :01:50.here. Yes, 2014, following from Emmanuel Macron, the President of

:01:51. > :01:55.France, making a similar pledge this morning, the UK size from 2014, no

:01:56. > :01:59.new diesel or petrol cars will be sold and the switch to electric will

:02:00. > :02:06.take place with a view to all cars being zero emission by 2015. Have

:02:07. > :02:11.you got a diesel car, Aasmah? Petrol? Yes. But by 2040... You will

:02:12. > :02:16.have got an electric one anyway. Just doing maths in my head. I am

:02:17. > :02:23.sure by Ben, yes, we have a date now. We did have a situation where

:02:24. > :02:29.we were encouraged to get diesel cars by the then Labour government.

:02:30. > :02:33.But we have been given quite a lot of notice in terms of any

:02:34. > :02:39.inconvenience it might cause individual consumers. Clearly, we

:02:40. > :02:44.are talking about diesel and petrol cars causing environmental problems

:02:45. > :02:51.reaching EU emission standards. Quite a serious thing that has to be

:02:52. > :02:55.handled. And it is not just a ban by 2040. There might be some councils

:02:56. > :03:02.given the power to impose levies and diesel vehicles on particular areas

:03:03. > :03:06.and roads. The suggestion is the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan will do

:03:07. > :03:12.something along those lines for diesel cars quite soon, next year, I

:03:13. > :03:16.think. Yes, what is interesting is Michael Gove the environment

:03:17. > :03:21.Secretary has thrown this town, the power chain to local councils and

:03:22. > :03:25.air quality campaigners are not happy, they wanted central

:03:26. > :03:30.government calling for toxic taxes to be imposed or introduce a diesel

:03:31. > :03:35.scrapped to which the scrappage scheme sooner to take diesel cars

:03:36. > :03:41.off the road, so interesting to see the fallout. A lot of people took

:03:42. > :03:45.the hint from the Government. The past governments. That diesel was OK

:03:46. > :03:51.to use and that is why manufacturers made so many of these cars. Now

:03:52. > :03:55.everybody has to get rid of them. That story is on pretty much all the

:03:56. > :04:03.front pages, a lot of them. The financial Times now. Aasmah. The

:04:04. > :04:08.electric Mini to be built in the UK despite eight Desha Brexit, is vote

:04:09. > :04:15.of confidence in the industrial strategy of the Government. Greg

:04:16. > :04:20.Clark, Business Secretary, this is a fantastic story for him and the

:04:21. > :04:27.Government. And for the country. Specifically for the Government,

:04:28. > :04:33.when they are trying to push through what the country voted for, Brexit.

:04:34. > :04:40.This company have said in the past that they might not have done what

:04:41. > :04:44.they have done and cited the work in the UK because of the uncertainty

:04:45. > :04:52.caused by Brexit and may have caused the minds to change, we are not told

:04:53. > :04:58.why, but that is a triumph for the Brexit supporters who say it is not

:04:59. > :05:01.all doom and gloom, it is not about uncertainty, you could argue that

:05:02. > :05:06.this is because where else really might they have done this? Talk of

:05:07. > :05:10.the Netherlands, but this is a very specialist workforce, with a great

:05:11. > :05:18.deal of specialist knowledge. You could argue it was always going to

:05:19. > :05:24.come to the UK or the UK. It is a great coup for the folk in Oxford.

:05:25. > :05:30.They are highly skilled and a great workforce. Having said that, they

:05:31. > :05:33.already make the Mini there. And the real test is to the Government's

:05:34. > :05:38.industrial strategy regarding Brexit is next year when Peugeot and

:05:39. > :05:44.Vauxhall Astra decide whether they will make new models. That is right.

:05:45. > :05:50.The Government is keen to stress that with BMW, they did not look for

:05:51. > :05:57.any issuance is like Nissan and Toyota and I think it is interesting

:05:58. > :06:02.it does indicate the Government's decision to focus on the car

:06:03. > :06:07.industry. Amazon also confirming they will hire 450 technology staff.

:06:08. > :06:13.There are other crucial decisions down the line and I don't think Greg

:06:14. > :06:22.Clark can sit easy just because of this decision. The Express happy,

:06:23. > :06:26.Trump trade joy for Britain, Donald Trump saying he is working on a

:06:27. > :06:32.good, exciting, very good deal, very good deal! That was terrible! That

:06:33. > :06:36.was terrible! I cannot let that pass! Not as terrible as the trade

:06:37. > :06:44.deal coming down the pipe, according to Mr Trump! Great joy for the

:06:45. > :06:52.Express that backed the Brexit side of things. Can we believe it? It

:06:53. > :07:00.comes from Donald Trump, in a tweet, at three a:m.! Precisely! Along with

:07:01. > :07:04.the Mini News, exceptionally good day for the governed. Donald Trump

:07:05. > :07:11.prides himself on his unpredictability. His double bass.

:07:12. > :07:16.The rhetoric is strong and punchy, but as we realise, that does not

:07:17. > :07:21.necessarily mean we should take it completely at face value. And people

:07:22. > :07:25.like Vince Cable himself a former Business Secretary as well as being

:07:26. > :07:30.Liberal Democrat leader, he warns we need to take these remarks with a

:07:31. > :07:33.pinch of salt. Aasmah, America is trying to sort out a trade deal with

:07:34. > :07:40.the European Union. Much bigger block, loads of consumers. Massive

:07:41. > :07:43.market. They have the sort that out first before they turn to others.

:07:44. > :07:48.Yes, absolutely, that is very time-consuming. Point about the

:07:49. > :07:54.trade deals, he said very exciting trade deal on its way, you have to

:07:55. > :07:58.wait until March 2019 before it can start and how many years after that

:07:59. > :08:07.will it take? I have no knowledge of these processes are but I can that

:08:08. > :08:11.they are very lengthy. We are very much second in line. When it comes

:08:12. > :08:15.to negotiating trade deals. I hope we get a fantastic trade deal with

:08:16. > :08:20.the US, but it is a long way off. Yes, but it could well happen and

:08:21. > :08:28.Trump says it is going to happen. Shocking decline found in sperm

:08:29. > :08:36.count of Western men. The numbers are really fascinating. An overall

:08:37. > :08:44.drop of 52%. They have knocked over 40 years at 180 studies and 40,000

:08:45. > :08:52.men, over 40 years. And it is catastrophic. Clearly, there are

:08:53. > :08:59.questions about parenthood, except. It is the factors that are

:09:00. > :09:06.potentially viewing this decline. Smoking, stress. Obesity. I don't

:09:07. > :09:13.mean to say... It sounds trivial, but they say wearing tight and were

:09:14. > :09:18.apparently really does... Do not look at me like that, allegedly! It

:09:19. > :09:27.can affect your sperm count. Spandex does not help the sperm. Well, it is

:09:28. > :09:30.incredibly worrying. 20 people will have a different take on this and

:09:31. > :09:39.they will say you do not necessarily always need a man to procreate. But

:09:40. > :09:46.these figures are pretty catastrophic. A very authoritative

:09:47. > :09:52.study as well, 180 studies, over 40 years. Good research coming yes. In

:09:53. > :09:56.the longer term, the ramifications, they are huge, bearing in mind we

:09:57. > :09:59.already have a falling birth rate in a lot of Western countries. Yes,

:10:00. > :10:14.incredibly worrying story. And I am glued to the handmaid's Tale, which

:10:15. > :10:21.leads to a crisis in people having children. So bizarrely relevant

:10:22. > :10:26.fictionally, but we could be heading toward it. It does not surprise me

:10:27. > :10:33.that modern life is toxic. And obesity and stress and smoking and

:10:34. > :10:40.chemicals, pesticides. Spandex! Yes, no wonder, perhaps! 60% rise in and

:10:41. > :10:51.qualified teachers, says Labour Party. Yes, this is a Labour

:10:52. > :10:55.analysis of the figures. They showed teachers in state schools have had

:10:56. > :11:02.no guaranteed training or safeguarding children, controlling a

:11:03. > :11:09.class or abduction -- of adapting teaching to different standards, a

:11:10. > :11:13.damning analysis. The article, Aasmah, pointing to the decision to

:11:14. > :11:18.boost free schools. Where perhaps you could have teachers who did not

:11:19. > :11:22.have the kind of qualifications that many people might expect. This was

:11:23. > :11:27.introduced by Michael Gove, who was Education Secretary. You said that

:11:28. > :11:33.you could use and qualified teachers and that has been expanded. These

:11:34. > :11:37.figures, state funded schools, clearly it is something that has

:11:38. > :11:42.been set expanded the state funded schools. Having read the article, a

:11:43. > :11:45.unqualified teacher to me would suggest somebody who is not

:11:46. > :11:49.qualified academically, but we are not talking about that. We are

:11:50. > :11:53.talking about the other important stuff like the safeguarding

:11:54. > :11:59.children, which sounds like training courses perhaps that teachers need.

:12:00. > :12:04.Not sure why, it sounds bizarre that somebody who is deemed to be

:12:05. > :12:08.unqualified as a teacher should be teaching in a school. It does not

:12:09. > :12:13.sound acceptable to me. That is on the front of the Guardian. The Daily

:12:14. > :12:21.Mail. Never mind spandex! What about pink linen? Oh dear, our fashion

:12:22. > :12:27.editor's verdict on Theresa May's pink holiday dress. I find it quite

:12:28. > :12:32.a striking image, you rarely see the Prime Minister in a candy floss

:12:33. > :12:37.colour, a casual shirt stress. I find it interesting because I like

:12:38. > :12:42.the Prime Minister tends to wear things on holiday I would never

:12:43. > :12:49.normally wear! We all do! I don't! No, I do! I usually wear spandex on

:12:50. > :12:58.holiday! Can you stop saying spandex now?! It is either Donald Trump is

:12:59. > :13:02.spandex. Initially, I am thinking she gets a lot of criticism for what

:13:03. > :13:07.she wears, but David Cameron when he went on holiday was always getting

:13:08. > :13:11.flack for what he was wearing. And it is about how much it cost. We

:13:12. > :13:16.have to be told it was ?26 from a High Street retailer called Next

:13:17. > :13:24.which many viewers will have heard of. Other High Street retailers are

:13:25. > :13:30.available! The Daily Mail says, Theresa May in a ?26 baby pink dress

:13:31. > :13:35.that showed off her pale and noticeably shiny legs. No need for

:13:36. > :13:41.that! Daily Mail, thank you so much for lowering the tone! Anstey two

:13:42. > :13:43.for raising the tone. Thank you very much indeed.

:13:44. > :13:46.Some of the stories behind the headlines.

:13:47. > :13:49.Don't forget, you can see the front pages of the papers online

:13:50. > :13:52.It's all there for you, seven days a week, at bbc.co.uk/papers.

:13:53. > :13:55.And if you miss the programme any evening, you can watch it

:13:56. > :14:07.Enjoy the pleasure that was the papers!
