0:00:00 > 0:00:01dismissed for illegal drug use, leading to compulsory drug testing

0:00:01 > 0:00:11being ordered on board all Royal Navy submarines.

0:00:16 > 0:00:19Hello and welcome to our look ahead to what the the papers will be

0:00:19 > 0:00:22bringing us tomorrow.

0:00:22 > 0:00:30With me are the journalist and broadcaster Penny Smith

0:00:30 > 0:00:40and the commentator and broadcaster Charlie Wolf.

0:00:40 > 0:00:45Tomorrow's front pages, starting with...

0:00:45 > 0:00:49The Mail on Sunday, which leads with fresh allegations of sexism

0:00:49 > 0:00:50at Westminster.

0:00:50 > 0:00:52The Sunday Times claims some prisoners sentenced

0:00:52 > 0:00:56to less than a year could be allowed to go home in order to vote,

0:00:56 > 0:00:58under new government plans.

0:00:58 > 0:01:01The Sunday Telegraph says that chaotic organisation of the health

0:01:01 > 0:01:04service is putting patients' lives

0:01:04 > 0:01:06at risk, according to the NHS medical director.

0:01:06 > 0:01:10On the front page of The Observer, claims that senior

0:01:10 > 0:01:12Tory donors have urged Theresa May to walk away from Brexit

0:01:13 > 0:01:15talks rather than accept

0:01:15 > 0:01:17an "unsatisfactory and unfavourable" deal.

0:01:17 > 0:01:19And the Express leads with the crisis in Catalonia,

0:01:19 > 0:01:21as Madrid seizes power over

0:01:21 > 0:01:28the regional Parliament.

0:01:28 > 0:01:36Let's start with the Sunday Telegraph. The focus very much on

0:01:36 > 0:01:44the Catalan facing arrest as he calls for civil disobedience. It is

0:01:44 > 0:01:49only a matter of time before we see what we fear.

0:01:49 > 0:01:53only a matter of time before we see what we fear.We have not heard much

0:01:53 > 0:01:59from the EU on this. There is an expression in the states, you cannot

0:01:59 > 0:02:06fight City Hall. That's what may happen. As far as the Catalan

0:02:06 > 0:02:12leader, pretender to the throne, thinks he will show up on Monday and

0:02:12 > 0:02:16find someone else who has been appointed by the federal government

0:02:16 > 0:02:22because they are now under direct rule. He may not be able to get into

0:02:22 > 0:02:30the building. He is also facing arrest and up to 30 years in jail.

0:02:30 > 0:02:34When those arrests start taking place, some police officers decide

0:02:34 > 0:02:39they will not take orders from the nationalist Catalan Chief police

0:02:39 > 0:02:44officer that has replaced the one that has been fired. And also, when

0:02:44 > 0:02:51we saw what went on when they did the illegal vote, and if we had a

0:02:51 > 0:02:57repeater that any stage, I was talking to somebody who lives out in

0:02:57 > 0:03:05Barcelona and has been watching this as a journalist. Not everybody is in

0:03:05 > 0:03:09favour. This is not one of those done deals. It is not one of

0:03:09 > 0:03:13Catalonia saying we want to be independent. Quite a sizeable

0:03:13 > 0:03:24proportion...42% if the referendum...It was not represented

0:03:24 > 0:03:28because lots of people boycotted it as well. The point is lots of people

0:03:28 > 0:03:37want to stay with Spain. When you stand back from this. You think, why

0:03:37 > 0:03:41were they not speaking? Surely diplomacy could have avoided all of

0:03:41 > 0:03:50this.There are so many stories, we do not know what the truth is.I

0:03:50 > 0:03:54asked one of many experts on Spanish listing that we have been

0:03:54 > 0:03:59interviewing, why did they stay so silent? They are the people who want

0:03:59 > 0:04:09to go through a more democratic process. It is very difficult to

0:04:09 > 0:04:14turn up for the status quo. Much more exciting to go on and say, we

0:04:14 > 0:04:19want change rather than saying we want things to stay the same.It

0:04:19 > 0:04:25could reveal all.You think back to the civil rights period in the

0:04:25 > 0:04:33states. It was in Alabama. They tried to prevent these black kids

0:04:33 > 0:04:39from going to the University. You do not fight City Hall. You are right

0:04:39 > 0:04:45there. On the 21st of December, some people might not feel it is worth

0:04:45 > 0:04:51voting. We do not know how transparent this is. Let's move on

0:04:51 > 0:04:57to the Sunday express which brings a bit closer to home. These are how

0:04:57 > 0:05:01the mounting tensions in Spain are keeping British tourists away. Still

0:05:01 > 0:05:10the top destination but still a place where people live as well.22%

0:05:10 > 0:05:14down on bookings as well. Even though you say to people, how does

0:05:14 > 0:05:20it feel out the? They say, it is not feel like anything will kick-off.

0:05:20 > 0:05:24But you never know. If you've got a choice between going there or

0:05:24 > 0:05:29somewhere else, you thing, it is not that far away, I can do some other

0:05:29 > 0:05:35time. I will wait until this is passed.I would love to go back to

0:05:35 > 0:05:42Valencia. We were in Barcelona many years, but with children, do you

0:05:42 > 0:05:49want to show up where that might kick-off?It could be devastate

0:05:49 > 0:05:54economic live. A lot of people stop travelling to Egypt and Tunisia. It

0:05:54 > 0:06:03is a shame. I felt for them and they had the bombing recently. I remember

0:06:03 > 0:06:07on our honeymoon at midnight, people were dancing in the square and it

0:06:07 > 0:06:15was a beautiful place. You have got the mountains to one side. You have

0:06:15 > 0:06:21got the area with the president was drinking his glass of wine. You too

0:06:21 > 0:06:27should work for the Spanish tourist board! The Sunday Times, some

0:06:27 > 0:06:34prisoners might get the right to vote. This has been an ongoing issue

0:06:34 > 0:06:37because the European Court of Human Rights said prisoners should have

0:06:37 > 0:06:45the right to vote. There seems to be a suggestion that, if you are under

0:06:45 > 0:06:52a year and you are due to go out, you should be allowed to vote. This

0:06:52 > 0:06:56story goes on to cover policing and various other things, saying they

0:06:56 > 0:07:02need more money to police our streets and also they are having to

0:07:02 > 0:07:08juggle things around, and the having to deal with serious crimes locally.

0:07:08 > 0:07:15In other words, drugs and terrorism, the having to go into local areas

0:07:15 > 0:07:19and try to sort out crime because they are being starved of funds. The

0:07:19 > 0:07:26whole thing is... The Justice Secretary. I know you feel strongly

0:07:26 > 0:07:30about the rights of prisoners.To tell

0:07:30 > 0:07:32about the rights of prisoners. To tell you the truth, no.

0:07:32 > 0:07:35about the rights of prisoners. To tell you the truth, no.That changed

0:07:35 > 0:07:42from an hour ago! Thanks for that, Charlie.

0:07:42 > 0:07:45You give up the right to liberty, sometimes in some jurisdictions you

0:07:45 > 0:07:54give up the right to life even.We stopped doing that. You guys did. To

0:07:54 > 0:08:00me, that's something you give up. I think it's a mess to figure out who

0:08:00 > 0:08:04gets the vote, who doesn't get to vote. I would be worried in that

0:08:04 > 0:08:09sort of environment if people are forced to vote a certain way, and if

0:08:09 > 0:08:13there's someone, that sort of dynamic in a prison where you have

0:08:13 > 0:08:16the big guys and the small fish and the small fish gets pushed around by

0:08:16 > 0:08:19the big guys.Do you honestly think they're going to save you don't vote

0:08:19 > 0:08:25Lib Dems I'll kill you, really?I don't know how it could be

0:08:25 > 0:08:28accomplished but I could see that being a possibility.Both of you

0:08:28 > 0:08:32bring up a point and you're missing something but you are getting there,

0:08:32 > 0:08:37that actually...Thanks!I'm trying to help you. What springs to mind is

0:08:37 > 0:08:41prison isn't just about punishment, it's about rehabilitation. We are

0:08:41 > 0:08:44looking at offenders that will be out in less than a year. This could

0:08:44 > 0:08:52be a chance to engage them in politics, give them a sense of worth

0:08:52 > 0:08:56and belonging to society.Exactly. Listen to me.Yes, you are right,

0:08:56 > 0:09:00it's supposed to be about rehabilitation. It's not just...

0:09:00 > 0:09:07Let's move on. There is another story on the Sunday Times, top BBC

0:09:07 > 0:09:15women exposed sex pests. The paper says a secret group of the BBC's top

0:09:15 > 0:09:18female presenters have uncovered a string of suspected cases of sexual

0:09:18 > 0:09:22harassment at the corporation including a senior sports presenter.

0:09:22 > 0:09:28Mishal Husain is on the cover, choosing this group of these senior

0:09:28 > 0:09:33reporters, editors, producers, et. It's not that she's complaining

0:09:33 > 0:09:37about having been harassed or anything but I guess she's part of

0:09:37 > 0:09:41this group that women are able to go to, or they are able to go to an

0:09:41 > 0:09:45upper manager and savour the problem here, this needs...The BBC has

0:09:45 > 0:09:48released a statement saying we can't comment on individuals but treat any

0:09:48 > 0:09:53allegation seriously and have processes in place for investigating

0:09:53 > 0:09:59them. That's the thing, isn't it, you've been talking about. Your own

0:09:59 > 0:10:03experience.I was talking about how this was essentially par for the

0:10:03 > 0:10:08course, a little bit of sexual harassment. I say a little bit of

0:10:08 > 0:10:11sexual harassment, because that was how you were made to feel when you

0:10:11 > 0:10:15complained and they said, they'd use words like, don't be silly, get a

0:10:15 > 0:10:23sense of humour for goodness' sake. Then we go on to the Meyler. You've

0:10:23 > 0:10:26got procedures in place where women can complain but you still got this

0:10:26 > 0:10:32kind of thing going on, allegedly. . This story is amazing to me. It's

0:10:32 > 0:10:39so... Maybe you expect it at the local pub or something, the office

0:10:39 > 0:10:44with David Brent or whatever, this is not something you expect out of a

0:10:44 > 0:10:50parliamentarian.This is a minister who sent his PA to buy sex toys. He

0:10:50 > 0:10:54goes on inside to say he can't deny but it was just high jinks and he

0:10:54 > 0:10:58says he fell out with the woman who persuaded him to go and do this and

0:10:58 > 0:11:02that's why she's saying this and all the rest of it, and there are other

0:11:02 > 0:11:05people who are mentioned in this as being sorry for what they done. It

0:11:05 > 0:11:11points out that like all of these things, it's about trying to make

0:11:11 > 0:11:17people think before they ask people to do things, before they come

0:11:17 > 0:11:21before this becomes an issue. Just think twice. How would this feel if

0:11:21 > 0:11:27it was in the papers? When I was introduced to Twitter and somebody

0:11:27 > 0:11:39said, do you know what, on Twitter, just remember, it's like

0:11:42 > 0:11:45shouting on a bus. Would you shout it on a bus? I know there are lots

0:11:45 > 0:11:48of people who shout really offensive things. It will be with you the rest

0:11:48 > 0:11:52of your life.It behoves you to be careful.Treat people as you would

0:11:52 > 0:11:54yourself.Treat people like your daughter, or your wife, or whatever.

0:11:54 > 0:11:56There are some people who are perhaps that the art of flirting

0:11:56 > 0:12:00will die out. I don't think it will because genuinely I think you can

0:12:00 > 0:12:05tell. You can tell when something is real. When a man puts your arm

0:12:05 > 0:12:08around you and condiments you, you know when it's friendly. You know

0:12:08 > 0:12:13much -- youyou know when it's friendly or sleazy, you know deep

0:12:13 > 0:12:22down.Ask your mother to go out and buy a sex toy.Would you do that?Of

0:12:22 > 0:12:26course not, I'm embarrassed thinking about it.Shall we end on the story

0:12:26 > 0:12:31giving us something to celebrate. England win the under 17s World Cup,

0:12:31 > 0:12:36a picture on the front page of the Observer of the young lions,

0:12:36 > 0:12:42roaring.Joyful, joyful picture. They look in at the 5-2 victory,

0:12:42 > 0:12:52some scoring!-- they look in shock. I know, is it just me or I always

0:12:52 > 0:12:56feel sorry for the goalie who lets in five goals. They can't even go to

0:12:56 > 0:12:59the pub to join their sorrows afterwards because they are 17, or

0:12:59 > 0:13:06younger, so what... You sit around having your little drink and

0:13:06 > 0:13:11saying... I'm sorry. I was thinking of the Spanish goalkeeper.Normally

0:13:11 > 0:13:16you guys feel the opposite of the guy...I like an underdog. You are

0:13:16 > 0:13:20not used to happy. Nelson Mandela said something effective, it's

0:13:20 > 0:13:23scarier to be at the top. A lot of people stay down because it's

0:13:23 > 0:13:27something they are used to and it's scary to be up there. Winning must

0:13:27 > 0:13:32be a new thing.We did really well in the 2012 Olympics, I'll have you

0:13:32 > 0:13:41know, and other things. The under 20s football team won as well and

0:13:41 > 0:13:45these are our future footballers. I'm just saying. They all look so

0:13:45 > 0:13:49chuffed.Thank you for coming in and joining me the night and taking us

0:13:49 > 0:13:51through the newspapers tomorrow. Thanks to you for joining us as

0:13:51 > 0:14:04well. Coming up next is the film review. Have a really good night.
