0:00:03 > 0:00:05Tonight, we are out on the road with ambulance crews,

0:00:05 > 0:00:08as latest figures reveal the scale of attacks and abuse

0:00:08 > 0:00:10they face every day.

0:00:10 > 0:00:13And the Scottish adventurer trying to become the first person

0:00:13 > 0:00:20to cross the Gobi desert, alone and in winter.

0:00:41 > 0:00:44Hello and welcome to Timeline, where we're also asking

0:00:44 > 0:00:47whether the cookbook is dead.

0:00:47 > 0:00:49Delia Smith says so, thanks to recipes being

0:00:49 > 0:00:52so readily available online.

0:00:52 > 0:00:56And we speak to two of the stars of ICW -

0:00:56 > 0:00:59that's Scotland's growing wrestling franchise - as they get

0:00:59 > 0:01:08ready for a smackdown at the Glasgow's Hydro.

0:01:08 > 0:01:15CROWD SINGS

0:01:15 > 0:01:19More from them later.

0:01:19 > 0:01:21They're tasked with saving lives in an emergency,

0:01:21 > 0:01:23so why would anybody attack or abuse our ambulance workers

0:01:23 > 0:01:24while they're doing their jobs?

0:01:24 > 0:01:26But sadly, it does happen, all too often.

0:01:26 > 0:01:29Figures given to Timeline show that there were almost 300 reported

0:01:29 > 0:01:32assaults last year across Scotland.

0:01:32 > 0:01:34We've been out with an ambulance crew to find out

0:01:34 > 0:01:38what they're up against.

0:01:38 > 0:01:43SIRENS.

0:01:43 > 0:01:49I could tell you a story about physical abuse. Anything that has

0:01:49 > 0:01:56alcohol or drugs with it tends to add fuel to the fire.I haven't

0:01:56 > 0:02:01instances where you're in the city centre on a Friday or Saturday night

0:02:01 > 0:02:06-- have had instances where you have members of the public who are coming

0:02:06 > 0:02:09on the run broadening into the vehicle to take pictures of the

0:02:09 > 0:02:14patient, which can be quite intrusive. They will lash out, be

0:02:14 > 0:02:17verbally abusive, kick out. Especially when you're trying to

0:02:17 > 0:02:20help them. Sometimes, people don't know what they're doing, some people

0:02:20 > 0:02:28do know what what they are doing. Going to Glasgow Royal for an amber

0:02:28 > 0:02:36now, Robbie. This patient is going from the cornea care unit at Glasgow

0:02:36 > 0:02:41Royal infirmary -- quarry near care unit for what we call a PCI, which

0:02:41 > 0:02:51basically means they have had a heart attack. I think it's important

0:02:51 > 0:02:55to understand that the ambulance service is primarily a health care

0:02:55 > 0:03:09provider and we're there to look people'shealth. Are you OK, they're?

0:03:09 > 0:03:16We are not there to reprimand people for taking alcohol, too much alcohol

0:03:16 > 0:03:21or taking drugs, etc. We are just there purely to help. Yes, we are

0:03:21 > 0:03:26currently going to an RTC, appears to have been phoned in by the

0:03:26 > 0:03:37police. We know there was two vehicles involved. Possibility of a

0:03:37 > 0:03:42female casualties who is reported to be pregnant. Robbie, we have been

0:03:42 > 0:03:53stood down from it. We have been stood down from the job. The

0:03:53 > 0:03:58patience or persons involved had decided they have not been requiring

0:03:58 > 0:04:00assessment or treatment and it's probably been cancelled by the

0:04:00 > 0:04:13police. It's our job to risk assess any situation we go into. And we can

0:04:13 > 0:04:20call on the pleas for assistance if required.Sometimes, we have to

0:04:20 > 0:04:27block the road. It's an emergency call. Just a wee bump. We've got to

0:04:27 > 0:04:30get to the person quickly, so we have to block the road, no other

0:04:30 > 0:04:36alternatives. But you do get a lot of direct motorists who want past

0:04:36 > 0:04:38immediately, they got an urgent appointment to get it, they have

0:04:38 > 0:04:46dropped it off at school, but a lot of reasons people are not happy and

0:04:46 > 0:04:52you can get a lot of abuse from them.We hope to make people happier

0:04:52 > 0:04:59and healthier. Every day. Even if it's things like people who have

0:04:59 > 0:05:03acute falls, just helping them into a chair and making them more

0:05:03 > 0:05:06comfortable, making a cup of tea, if they are happy to remain at home and

0:05:06 > 0:05:13fit to remain at home, that's a job well done for me. Ultimately, we

0:05:13 > 0:05:19need to save lives if required. That is the aim of the game.

0:05:19 > 0:05:21Mark and Robbie allowed us to shadow their shift in Glasgow.

0:05:21 > 0:05:23but what's the picture like across the country?

0:05:23 > 0:05:29Well, there were 273 assaults on ambulance crews last year,

0:05:29 > 0:05:34158 of them were physical.

0:05:34 > 0:05:39That included 19 in Edinburgh, five in Aberdeen and 41 in Glasgow.

0:05:39 > 0:05:44Over the past five years, figures have remained relatively steady,

0:05:44 > 0:05:47but the number of attacks in some areas has gone up, with physical

0:05:47 > 0:05:53assaults quadrupling in Hamilton.

0:05:53 > 0:05:55Joining us now is Jamie McNamee, who is national convenor

0:05:55 > 0:06:01for Unite the union and also a paramedic.

0:06:01 > 0:06:07Thanks for coming in. What is your own experience? My own experience is

0:06:07 > 0:06:09that I know friends and colleagues who have been subject to both

0:06:09 > 0:06:15physical and sexual assaults whilst on duty. And I think it is fair to

0:06:15 > 0:06:19say that the figures being reported by the tab of the iceberg, because I

0:06:19 > 0:06:25think the relevant point there is reported. Violence, aggression,

0:06:25 > 0:06:31abuse within the public services, in particular the ambulance service and

0:06:31 > 0:06:36the fire service, is very much underreported as it is given as

0:06:36 > 0:06:41business as usual.Who does this kind of thing?I don't think there

0:06:41 > 0:06:44is particular demographic, number of factors come into play. You could

0:06:44 > 0:06:49point the finger at alcohol, legal highs, drugs. But sometimes, they

0:06:49 > 0:06:53are just some nasty individuals in the system that we have the

0:06:53 > 0:06:57misfortune to encounter on a day-to-day basis.This includes

0:06:57 > 0:07:01patients?Absolutely. And it's not contained to front-line paramedics

0:07:01 > 0:07:05and technicians. We have support services, hard-working individuals

0:07:05 > 0:07:10within our control centres who are abused on a daily basis on the

0:07:10 > 0:07:13telephone.What kind of long-term effects does this have on your

0:07:13 > 0:07:19staff?I don't think it's just an new style. I think they worry for me

0:07:19 > 0:07:23is that people of a younger generation may not experience they

0:07:23 > 0:07:28care that I have been able to experience because it's the water on

0:07:28 > 0:07:33the Rock, visited? It's the continual erosion. We have the

0:07:33 > 0:07:36capacity within the Scottish Ambulance Service, we are seen as a

0:07:36 > 0:07:42default service for many of the members of the public, whether it's

0:07:42 > 0:07:45perhaps a reduction in mental health care, the ambulance service is seen

0:07:45 > 0:07:51as a default provider for that. And the workload is just gone through

0:07:51 > 0:07:55the roof. We don't have the resources to cope.I think you had

0:07:55 > 0:08:00at one point 4 million calls last year and half of them resulted in A

0:08:00 > 0:08:06& E responses, several hundred incidences of abuse and violence

0:08:06 > 0:08:10being reported. What needs to be done to reduce that?I think we have

0:08:10 > 0:08:14to increase the public awareness that we are trained by the public

0:08:14 > 0:08:17for the public, we are here as public servants, we are not the

0:08:17 > 0:08:21enemy. We are here to give you a quality health care provision and

0:08:21 > 0:08:25help improve your outcomes, hopefully for you get to the

0:08:25 > 0:08:28hospital but I've have you delivered safely to a hospital environment

0:08:28 > 0:08:33where you should improve to the point of being discharged, fit and

0:08:33 > 0:08:37well.Is there a cultural thing, as well? We heard there, there are a

0:08:37 > 0:08:41lot of members of the public complaining that an ambulance was

0:08:41 > 0:08:44blocking their way to school, that people should appreciate how

0:08:44 > 0:08:48important it is KuzmenkoI think it's understandable that people can

0:08:48 > 0:08:52feel certain anxieties, but I think they would have to accept that an

0:08:52 > 0:08:56ambulance is blocking the road, it is because they are there to deal

0:08:56 > 0:09:01with a high acuity emergency call that could be a cardiac arrest, or a

0:09:01 > 0:09:05vital -- we are vital seconds lost could be a determining factor in

0:09:05 > 0:09:08whether the patients arise are not. Thanks very much for coming in and

0:09:08 > 0:09:15sharing your experiences. They do very much. -- thank you very much.

0:09:15 > 0:09:18If you have a story to share or anything you'd like us

0:09:18 > 0:09:19to follow up, then get in touch.

0:09:24 > 0:09:27He's one of just 16 people ever, and the only Scot, to climb

0:09:27 > 0:09:30the highest mountain on each of the seven continents and walk

0:09:30 > 0:09:32to the North and South Poles.

0:09:32 > 0:09:36Now, Newall Hunter has set off on his latest challenge -

0:09:36 > 0:09:38becoming the first person to walk alone across Asia's Gobi

0:09:38 > 0:09:43Desert during winter.

0:09:43 > 0:09:53He spoke to us via webcam from Mongolia earlier this week.

0:09:59 > 0:10:08We don't think anybody has done this in winter before. It's Scots at him

0:10:08 > 0:10:12parry meaning the way on this, it's Scots that had done the solo and

0:10:12 > 0:10:16team challenges in the summer. -- pioneering the way. We are looking

0:10:16 > 0:10:27at 1750 miles of desert with water, which is very sparse. It's similar

0:10:27 > 0:10:33temperatures to Antarctica, but in Antarctica, you have snow, cover the

0:10:33 > 0:10:37whole way across, you can go on a sledge and carry a minimum and of

0:10:37 > 0:10:43fuel. In the there is not much snow. Which means you have to carry the

0:10:43 > 0:10:47water and you just physically can't carry that amount of water. So I

0:10:47 > 0:10:52really need water every 3-4 days and there are some sections that it's

0:10:52 > 0:10:56really pushing that. We were trying to find technical ways to solve this

0:10:56 > 0:11:01problem, to find water, to get water, and none of them work coming

0:11:01 > 0:11:06up with any real answers, none of them would work. The solution was to

0:11:06 > 0:11:11go out and recce the desert, I have cycled it already and worked with

0:11:11 > 0:11:15local nomads, they know where all the water is. I carry the food all

0:11:15 > 0:11:21the way with me, it's all freeze-dried. I will be burning

0:11:21 > 0:11:26about 10-11,000 calories every day. I will be taking Shepherd 's magpie,

0:11:26 > 0:11:33chilli con carne, spaghetti Bolognese, all the standards. They

0:11:33 > 0:11:36are very high calorie, high-fat, deliberately, to give me the highest

0:11:36 > 0:11:42calories per weight that I can get away with. I originally was an

0:11:42 > 0:11:48engineer in air traffic control, so managing risk is my business. There

0:11:48 > 0:11:51are expeditions that I had decided not to go on. Some people say the

0:11:51 > 0:11:55wolves really are not a problem in the area I'm going through, that

0:11:55 > 0:11:58they had been hunted and persecuted over the years and are so shy and

0:11:58 > 0:12:03sparse that there is nothing to worry about. And the other half,

0:12:03 > 0:12:08that, yes, wolves are problem and more so this year because there was

0:12:08 > 0:12:18a bad summary and food is in short supply. -- bad summer. I expect this

0:12:18 > 0:12:24to take between 65 and 75 days. I will take many copies of desert

0:12:24 > 0:12:28island discs with me, rather than music. Just having somebody talking

0:12:28 > 0:12:34in your year is a lot better when you're on your own than music

0:12:34 > 0:12:37playing all day. But I am under no illusions, this one could be

0:12:37 > 0:12:40difficult and if I have to I will be taking advice and help from the

0:12:40 > 0:12:46local nomads in the desert, who lives out there. And have done for

0:12:46 > 0:12:50centuries. So if I get into trouble, I will be going to them to see if I

0:12:50 > 0:12:56can get some help.Don't fancy that, do you?

0:12:56 > 0:12:58Absolutely not!

0:12:58 > 0:13:02Well, we can confirm that Newall set off on his journey a few hours ago,

0:13:02 > 0:13:03a few hours later than planned.

0:13:03 > 0:13:07All OK so far, and you can track his journey on his website.

0:13:07 > 0:13:09They made her rich, and have helped inspire millions -

0:13:09 > 0:13:12but now Delia Smith, no less, says the cookbook is dead.

0:13:12 > 0:13:14They still fly off the shelves, but Delia says they're pointless

0:13:14 > 0:13:17now that we can find so many recipes online.

0:13:17 > 0:13:18So is she right?

0:13:18 > 0:13:21Here now is Vanessa Daley, who's head chef at The Cook School

0:13:21 > 0:13:23Scotland, and last year's Professional MasterChef

0:13:23 > 0:13:28winner Gary MacLean.

0:13:28 > 0:13:36Wellcome, both. Gary, are you with Delia? , not at all. I hope she's

0:13:36 > 0:13:40not right, I have a book coming out! I think the cookbook is you to stay.

0:13:40 > 0:13:48Sales out. Market books sold last year than since 2010.What you

0:13:48 > 0:13:54think, Vanessa?I agree with Wood a little bit. I think, for Delia, it

0:13:54 > 0:14:04is right. I would say Gary is right, cookbook sales are up, however, more

0:14:04 > 0:14:07people do go online now. Social media is a big thing, in Strabane,

0:14:07 > 0:14:14you can get videos. It's more or less -- more of a stocking filler,

0:14:14 > 0:14:21at this time of year, sales are up. What you both regard as essential

0:14:21 > 0:14:25cookbook material to having your cupboard?There are a lot of

0:14:25 > 0:14:28different things, as the necessary, you can get a book that has lots of

0:14:28 > 0:14:31pretty pictures, almost like a Coffey table book. But cookbook is

0:14:31 > 0:14:35more than a mess this, it is a thing, living, breathing. People

0:14:35 > 0:14:41don't want to cook off of a computer screen. What you get pages 30 with

0:14:41 > 0:14:48it., that is all part of the experience! Douse their phones to

0:14:48 > 0:14:50check a rest day, but if people trust what they get on the internet?

0:14:50 > 0:14:55I don't know. I think they trust a book.What would you say is

0:14:55 > 0:15:02essential?The book that inspires me at the minute is 11 Madison, Park, a

0:15:02 > 0:15:08New York restaurant, and the food is spectacular, absolutely spectacular.

0:15:08 > 0:15:12The main book that inspired me as a young chef was a book called great

0:15:12 > 0:15:16British chess and it was, each of these of the great and the good of

0:15:16 > 0:15:19the time had their own chapter, I reckon I nicked every single recipe

0:15:19 > 0:15:26from it is at the time!Vanessa, what about you?

0:15:26 > 0:15:30I don't have a particular book that I like, I like Mexican and Asian

0:15:30 > 0:15:34style cooking so I get recipes from that and I used to love Thomasina

0:15:34 > 0:15:40Miers when she won Masterchef, I found her quite inspiring. I get a

0:15:40 > 0:15:44lot of recipe ideas from her but I'm the same as everyone, I go online

0:15:44 > 0:15:51and watch videos.What about Delia? Is she still relevant?Yeah, I teach

0:15:51 > 0:15:55for a living so we see a lot of people every day and a lot of them

0:15:55 > 0:15:59will say about Delia. And I would say it is a generational thing but I

0:15:59 > 0:16:02have heard that her recipes are foolproof and I have used them

0:16:02 > 0:16:06before and they do work. But Delia is probably used to selling lots and

0:16:06 > 0:16:10lots of cookbooks and I bet her sales have dropped due to other

0:16:10 > 0:16:14chefs.You say it is a generational thing. Is that the point that this

0:16:14 > 0:16:18is maybe the last generation that will be buying and using cookbooks

0:16:18 > 0:16:23and the next generation will be looking online, Instagram and the

0:16:23 > 0:16:28rest?I don't think so, I think the cookbook is here to stay, it's more

0:16:28 > 0:16:32than a recipe, it is a thing with pictures, lots of the books at the

0:16:32 > 0:16:35stories of the chefs and all of that and people buy into that. It is

0:16:35 > 0:16:41definitely here to stay.I'd met I like using a cookbook for a recipe,

0:16:41 > 0:16:45but lots of Jamie Oliver in my cupboard at home.It is a

0:16:45 > 0:16:49personality thing as well.It is so straightforward, a bunch of this and

0:16:49 > 0:16:54a pinch of that.Food changes the whole time and people's perception

0:16:54 > 0:16:58of it. A clever writer will come up with what is happening next and what

0:16:58 > 0:17:02people want to buy. I think people want a cookbook that is actually

0:17:02 > 0:17:07usable, that the recipes work, that you can use everyday.Of all the

0:17:07 > 0:17:12cookbooks that you have got at home, how many do you actually use?I

0:17:12 > 0:17:16probably use them or at work than at home, if truth be told, where I can

0:17:16 > 0:17:20get time and get a book alert -- book open and lose yourself or half

0:17:20 > 0:17:25an hour or so.I've got to ask you because it is year flinty won the

0:17:25 > 0:17:28professional Masterchef, are you watching it?I am and it's

0:17:28 > 0:17:32brilliant.It must be weird.I don't know if that's the right word but

0:17:32 > 0:17:35the whole thing is pretty weird, to be honest, but it's great to watch

0:17:35 > 0:17:38it and have an understanding of how it is made and you really feel for

0:17:38 > 0:17:45the guys that are struggling.Yeah, the poor guy from Scotland, Richard,

0:17:45 > 0:17:48went last night.I know but you know what? Anyone who can go on to that

0:17:48 > 0:17:57show deserves credit because -- madonnas of how well they do.You

0:17:57 > 0:18:00are next, Vanessa.I'm not doing it! Thank you for joining us.

0:18:00 > 0:18:04OK, still to come.

0:18:04 > 0:18:09Ladies and gentlemen, coming Tuuli Petaja from the SSE Hydro in

0:18:09 > 0:18:16Glasgow, Scotland. -- coming to you live.

0:18:16 > 0:18:18We talk to this guy, Joe Coffey,

0:18:18 > 0:18:21and one of Scotland's top women wrestlers ahead of their big bouts

0:18:21 > 0:18:23in Glasgow this weekend.

0:18:23 > 0:18:25You get it all, here!

0:18:25 > 0:18:28It's one of the big days of the year in determining how

0:18:28 > 0:18:32the nation's finances are divvied up, and how much you are taxed.

0:18:32 > 0:18:35So what's in store for next week's Budget?

0:18:35 > 0:18:40We sent James Devoy to find out what you want the money spent on.

0:18:45 > 0:18:48Its budget time once again, that time of the year when we all get

0:18:48 > 0:18:52really up in arms about it and then we'll kind of quietened down because

0:18:52 > 0:18:57there's nothing we can do about it but this one is crucial for the

0:18:57 > 0:19:00Conservative Party. Theresa May's wayward ship may be straightened,

0:19:00 > 0:19:05you never know, there's a chance she could suddenly stand tall as the

0:19:05 > 0:19:08bold leadership promised to be in the last election.Strong and stable

0:19:08 > 0:19:13leadership in this country. To have the strong and stable leadership.

0:19:13 > 0:19:16There's a chance, but it does not mean she is going to do it. Do you

0:19:16 > 0:19:26want to talk about the budget? Austerity? Or not?Can I ask a silly

0:19:26 > 0:19:31question but amongwhat is austerity? It is the Tories policy

0:19:31 > 0:19:39spending less to reduce the deficit because that went pretty badly. For

0:19:39 > 0:19:44against austerity? For it. There should be more? Where should we be

0:19:44 > 0:19:48spending the admittedly limited money?NHS.People have worked all

0:19:48 > 0:19:56their lives for getting a pension or £100 a week.What do you think

0:19:56 > 0:20:01about... Sorry! What do you think about austerity? If you had been in

0:20:01 > 0:20:04play -- Ian Paisley years ago, you'd have seen a big difference, this

0:20:04 > 0:20:07place was absolute repacked on a Saturday, you could come in in the

0:20:07 > 0:20:11morning and sent the whole day and since they have pedestrianised it...

0:20:11 > 0:20:17Nothing.Should we give more money to young people? We could have a

0:20:17 > 0:20:21skate park for Paisley. This is one of the most important but it's the

0:20:21 > 0:20:24Tory government has had since it came to power and it is certainly

0:20:24 > 0:20:28Theresa May's most important but almost no one knows who our -- and

0:20:28 > 0:20:31her chancellors, not George Osborne or Gordon Brand, I mean, I barely

0:20:31 > 0:20:35know who he is and I'm holding a picture of him so I'm going to ask

0:20:35 > 0:20:38other people if they know who the years. Do you happen to know who

0:20:38 > 0:20:43this gentleman is? He's got a blue tie on, is it a tent?No idea.I've

0:20:43 > 0:20:48seen him on that Ali but I don't know.Rough guess? Rhodes something

0:20:48 > 0:20:57to do the Tories? Paducah.I can't in his name.Guy is?Ether

0:20:57 > 0:21:02treasurer, is he not?Do you know who this is? Anyone? Do you know who

0:21:02 > 0:21:09this guy is? Have you ever seen him? You could almost taste the

0:21:09 > 0:21:13excitement in Paisley about the budget. We have seen it, the look on

0:21:13 > 0:21:16their little faces on Wednesday, it's going to be a picture and I for

0:21:16 > 0:21:20one can't wait. I totally can't wait. None of this is true. It's

0:21:20 > 0:21:22just a budget.

0:21:22 > 0:21:26That is what you were saying to me the other day about the budget!

0:21:26 > 0:21:30That is me fully briefed for next week. Let's move on to something

0:21:30 > 0:21:31completely different.

0:21:31 > 0:21:34Big Daddy, Giant Haystacks, Hulk Hogan - all big wrestling

0:21:34 > 0:21:35stars from the past.

0:21:35 > 0:21:40The sport has had many different franchises over the years,

0:21:40 > 0:21:43but now there's a Scottish one, and it's rapidly

0:21:43 > 0:21:45growing in popularity.

0:21:45 > 0:21:48It's called Insane Championship Wrestling,

0:21:48 > 0:21:51and its stars are set to clash at the Hydro this weekend.

0:21:51 > 0:21:53Two of them are here - women's champion Kay Lee Ray,

0:21:53 > 0:21:56and men's champion, Joe Coffey.

0:21:56 > 0:22:03Welcome to you both. Joe, what is insane about Insane Championship

0:22:03 > 0:22:07Wrestling.First of all, how are you doing anyway? The thing that is

0:22:07 > 0:22:11insane is you're bringing up the past, like giant haystacks and Big

0:22:11 > 0:22:15Daddy. I'm sorry.You don't admire them? Rechberger you're talking to

0:22:15 > 0:22:18the year and now and the future operational resin but what is insane

0:22:18 > 0:22:22is the atmosphere that will be happening at the Hydro and the

0:22:22 > 0:22:24spectacle of a professional wrestling match that I will be

0:22:24 > 0:22:27putting on. What makes it different from other types of wrestling for

0:22:27 > 0:22:32those who don't know? For us, it is not just the wrestling but the

0:22:32 > 0:22:36performers. We know what is on the line, we always step up our game and

0:22:36 > 0:22:44if that means we are slightly insane, then yes, we are insane. You

0:22:44 > 0:22:50have to be slightly insane to step through the ropes.Tell me about the

0:22:50 > 0:22:53character, you can see now.I don't know what you mean about character,

0:22:53 > 0:22:58don't try and judge me but I in iron king, there is no one better in the

0:22:58 > 0:23:01world of professional wrestling than the iron King, I'm the best, to be

0:23:01 > 0:23:07the best, better than the rest. -- I am the iron King. This is how it

0:23:07 > 0:23:14feels to be champion. This is a bona fides world heavyweight title. The

0:23:14 > 0:23:19ICW world heavyweight title and it is living around my waist. And you

0:23:19 > 0:23:24have done as well.Yes, I'm the ICW women's champion, and this has been

0:23:24 > 0:23:28taken all over the world and on Sunday, both of us will be putting

0:23:28 > 0:23:31these titles on the line in one of the biggest events in wrestling in

0:23:31 > 0:23:39the UK.It is all about you being the bad guy, isn't it? It is all

0:23:39 > 0:23:44about characters.Come on.Let me show you the pictures, that looks

0:23:44 > 0:23:48pretty bad to me. Tell me about your signature move? One of the things I

0:23:48 > 0:23:56most commonly known for is just flat up getting dropped on your face will

0:23:56 > 0:24:01stop I can demonstrate if you like. No, thank you! It does not sound

0:24:01 > 0:24:12very nice. Is it painful?I'm a bad guy, because...But do you get hurt?

0:24:12 > 0:24:16I've spent more than a few times with the paramedics, I've spent a

0:24:16 > 0:24:20lot of time in hospital bed in my eight years of professional

0:24:20 > 0:24:24wrestling but I am the iron man, the iron king, it does not stop me. It

0:24:24 > 0:24:29is merely a formality in this game. You just have to pick yourself back

0:24:29 > 0:24:34up.You can't afford to be out for long.We fight every single weekend,

0:24:34 > 0:24:38there is no combat sport in the wild like this, nothing like it, the

0:24:38 > 0:24:41purist form of entertainment.Use a entertainment and some people look

0:24:41 > 0:24:46at it and they say it is staged so people don't get hurt and is that

0:24:46 > 0:24:50true?Well, if you think it is staged, I would invite you to come

0:24:50 > 0:24:54along and if you feel like jumping the barrier, we could have about.

0:24:54 > 0:25:00There an invitation!I completely agree with Joe. Come to the Hydro

0:25:00 > 0:25:06and stepped in with any of us, guy or girl. How did you get into this?

0:25:06 > 0:25:10Minds a bit of a different story from the regular wrestler, most

0:25:10 > 0:25:14people watch wrestling growing up but I was not that into it, I had no

0:25:14 > 0:25:18brothers to show me, it was when I met my boyfriend, who is now my

0:25:18 > 0:25:25fiance. He got me into it. You know what? I was just really, really good

0:25:25 > 0:25:30at it, and I decided...You have to be very good, to be a champion,

0:25:30 > 0:25:35don't you?You do.What is interesting about what you do is

0:25:35 > 0:25:39that you have wrestling matches with men sometimes?Yes, I have been put

0:25:39 > 0:25:44in with the men on many occasions and I feel like in ICW now, maybe

0:25:44 > 0:25:47the crowd think I'm a bad guy and that plays to my advantage. But I

0:25:47 > 0:25:52think it is a good thing I can step in with any wrestler, male or

0:25:52 > 0:25:56female, and I am held in the same regard as them, regardless of

0:25:56 > 0:26:02gender.How big a deal is this now? What kind of following have you got?

0:26:02 > 0:26:06Thousands, it is global now. And the power of social media and the

0:26:06 > 0:26:12Internet, it is now global. I've got fans stretching from Tokyo to Tampa.

0:26:12 > 0:26:19It is now global and the event itself will be available on ICW's on

0:26:19 > 0:26:22demand service, similar to Netflix or something so the next day, it

0:26:22 > 0:26:30will be an for the world to see.It started off in a committee will in

0:26:30 > 0:26:34Maryhill in 2008.Yes.It's got pretty big since then but what is

0:26:34 > 0:26:40your ambition? Is WWE what you are aiming for?I feel like I've done

0:26:40 > 0:26:46very well representing myself all over the world, and if WWE were to

0:26:46 > 0:26:48offer something to me I would happily take it and show my skills

0:26:48 > 0:26:52on another level as well but right now I think we are doing a great job

0:26:52 > 0:26:59of representing everything that ICW stands for everywhere.Have you ever

0:26:59 > 0:27:02got injured? We all picked up injuries all across the line. It is

0:27:02 > 0:27:08a very tough sport and from the stuff we do, we fall from ten feet

0:27:08 > 0:27:11onto our soft-core, Berardo things to be picked up along the way but I

0:27:11 > 0:27:17think it makes us tough the long run.Mentally, as well. When you two

0:27:17 > 0:27:23were growing up and starting out, who did you look at and admire if

0:27:23 > 0:27:26not the classic British wrestlers? Even though I discredit them, they

0:27:26 > 0:27:30are part of our history but for me, my favourite wrestler was Shawn

0:27:30 > 0:27:36Michaels and Ric Flair, and guys like Michael Hoover, who were

0:27:36 > 0:27:38champions and carried themselves champions and I pride myself on

0:27:38 > 0:27:44that, that is who I look up to and who I am looking to emulated today.

0:27:44 > 0:27:47Good luck to both of you this weekend in your respective matches

0:27:47 > 0:27:52in Glasgow. Thank you for joining us.

0:27:52 > 0:27:55That's your Timeline for this week. Thanks for watching.

0:27:55 > 0:27:57Shereen will be back with John Beattie next week

0:27:57 > 0:27:59while I'm on budget duties.

0:27:59 > 0:28:01But we'll leave you tonight with a lovely choir,

0:28:01 > 0:28:03made up of Ayrshire schoolchildren, who are preparing to perform

0:28:03 > 0:28:04at tomorrow's Children in Need.

0:28:04 > 0:28:09Bye for now.

0:28:09 > 0:28:15# Somewhere over the rainbow

0:28:15 > 0:28:19Make sure we get the M permit is your Springwood. It's been fun

0:28:19 > 0:28:23working with Andrew because when we get it wrong, he does not shout at

0:28:23 > 0:28:30us, he just corrects us and we get to practice to make it right. Our

0:28:30 > 0:28:34school decided to do sign language because one of the boys has a

0:28:34 > 0:28:39disability and we are trying to teach in sign language as well.

0:28:39 > 0:28:46Would you like to learn how to sign? Seeing 100 young people all signing,

0:28:46 > 0:28:50many of them for the first time was quite an experience.

0:28:50 > 0:28:52# Way up high

0:28:52 > 0:28:55# There's a land that I heard of

0:28:55 > 0:29:00# Once in a lullaby
