:46:27. > :46:34.Are we all feeling re-energised after yesterday? I have to say after

:46:35. > :46:39.the gala dinner I hope to see more. Thank you for coming on our second

:46:40. > :46:45.day here in Bournemouth. It's going to be a very interesting day. As

:46:46. > :46:51.some of you will hopefully be aware, the new leader has requested a few

:46:52. > :46:55.amendments to the agenda for today so there is a revised agenda. Some

:46:56. > :46:59.point mid-morning we will put that on the screen to remind everybody

:47:00. > :47:05.who is speaking and at what times. I will hand over briefly for the

:47:06. > :47:09.chairman for this morning's sessions are deputy treasurer. I will be back

:47:10. > :47:13.to present some gold medals as chairman later and to chair the

:47:14. > :47:18.afternoon sessions. I hope you have a good morning. I want to make it

:47:19. > :47:23.clear what we are doing with regard to motions, and exciting element of

:47:24. > :47:27.today's agenda. Proposed motions are being printed. We left it late so

:47:28. > :47:32.people could have as much time as possible to submit them. We have

:47:33. > :47:36.chosen five motions which we will try to discuss being printed on

:47:37. > :47:40.pieces of paper to be put up outside the conference hall. Have a read of

:47:41. > :47:44.them, if you wish to propose or second the motion or Paul Jordan aim

:47:45. > :47:49.down to argue against, please do, then we will argue those later in

:47:50. > :47:58.the day. I will hand over to our deputy treasurer. APPLAUSE.

:47:59. > :48:06.Welcome, my lords, ladies and gentlemen, today. I think it's going

:48:07. > :48:11.to be some very good speakers, so I do see some people with some heavy

:48:12. > :48:15.head today, so I think you all had a good night, or some of you did last

:48:16. > :48:22.night. Perhaps too much. But without any further ado I would like to

:48:23. > :48:24.introduce you to Julia Reid MEP, the Ukip South West MEP and the health

:48:25. > :48:37.spokesman. APPLAUSE. Good morning, ladies and gentlemen

:48:38. > :48:41.and welcome to the second day of the first national conference to be held

:48:42. > :48:48.since our successful EU referendum campaign led to 17 million people

:48:49. > :48:57.voted to leave the European Union on the 23rd of June. CHEERING. As those

:48:58. > :49:02.of you who are here yesterday no Friday saw the departure of three of

:49:03. > :49:08.the people who had been fundamental in the success of our party and the

:49:09. > :49:12.EU referendum campaign, and first to deliver his farewell speech was Paul

:49:13. > :49:16.Nuttall, who after six years stepped down as deputy leader. He was

:49:17. > :49:21.followed by Steve Crowther, who has also decided to relinquish the role

:49:22. > :49:25.of party Chairman after six years, and finally, we were treated to our

:49:26. > :49:30.outgoing party leader 's speech, which saw Nigel on top form as

:49:31. > :49:35.usual. Like me, many of you felt we were at the end of an era, although

:49:36. > :49:43.they are not all here today, please can I ask you to give a huge round

:49:44. > :49:45.of applause to all that these three individuals have done for Ukip and

:49:46. > :49:54.our country -- applause for all they have done.

:49:55. > :50:01.So, as the pre-thing-mac referendum era ended yesterday, the

:50:02. > :50:05.post-referendum era began with the announcement that Diane James was

:50:06. > :50:13.elected by a sizeable margin as our new party leader. APPLAUSE.

:50:14. > :50:21.In her first speech to conference in her new role, she explained her 100

:50:22. > :50:25.day plan and her vision of how Ukip will move forward towards winning

:50:26. > :50:33.seats at Westminster in the next general election. Telling to reason

:50:34. > :50:42.me that we are the opposition in waiting. APPLAUSE. She finished by

:50:43. > :50:45.saying that as one grammar schoolgirl to another, and as a

:50:46. > :50:49.grammar school girl myself I understand what she means, Theresa

:50:50. > :51:00.May had to stop messing about and get on with Brexit. APPLAUSE. I am

:51:01. > :51:05.sure all of you today will join me in congratulating her on becoming

:51:06. > :51:09.Ukip's first female party leader, and pledge our support to her as we

:51:10. > :51:15.now move forward on the next stage of our journey as one of the UK's

:51:16. > :51:28.newest and most exciting political parties. APPLAUSE Fatah side we had

:51:29. > :51:32.excellent speeches from William Dartmouth, our trade spokesman --

:51:33. > :51:36.that aside, who explained why the UK does not to be in the single market

:51:37. > :51:40.-- need to be in the single market to trade with the EU. Lord Stevens

:51:41. > :51:44.of Ludgate who delivered an entertaining speech about the EU

:51:45. > :51:50.referendum in the context of Westminster and House of Lords was

:51:51. > :51:55.also extremely amusing. We also had excellent speeches from one of our

:51:56. > :52:01.EF DDE colleagues, Peter Lundgren, the MP, one of the Sweden Democrats,

:52:02. > :52:13.and from six Ukip MEPs, we heard on their briefs, on the Commonwealth,

:52:14. > :52:19.fisheries, immigration, how to win elections, which you must agree with

:52:20. > :52:25.me as most important, and about Scotland, and finishing up our

:52:26. > :52:29.conference yesterday with a round-up brief about energy. The day was

:52:30. > :52:35.finished by an excellent gala dinner which took place at the Hilton. I

:52:36. > :52:42.for one have the most enjoyable evening and would like to thank the

:52:43. > :52:49.organisers, Paul Oakton, Lizzie Fade and Diane Baulch. Thank you for

:52:50. > :52:53.those who made the effort. APPLAUSE. I would like to thank those

:52:54. > :52:58.important people who put their hands in their pockets, off on numerous

:52:59. > :53:02.occasions, in response to the various fundraising activities they

:53:03. > :53:12.had last night, so thank you for your continued support to our party

:53:13. > :53:15.funds. APPLAUSE. We have today's excellent programmer speeches to

:53:16. > :53:20.look forward to and I hope you will also visit the exhibition area

:53:21. > :53:24.upstairs and a fringe meetings being held today as well. On a more

:53:25. > :53:30.personal note, I can tell you that as a founder Member of Ukip who

:53:31. > :53:35.campaigned long and hard for a EU referendum, the result of the 24th

:53:36. > :53:41.of June was an extremely joyous occasion, one I had been campaigning

:53:42. > :53:46.for on and off for many years. In Poole, where the votes were being

:53:47. > :53:49.collated, it was extremely nerve wracking as at the beginning of the

:53:50. > :53:56.Count it looked like the result could go either way. This was made

:53:57. > :54:01.even worse by the Remain supporters gleefully announcing as we walked in

:54:02. > :54:05.that Nigel had just conceded defeat. Nigel can be wrong occasionally, not

:54:06. > :54:10.very often, but just occasionally. For those of us who are long-term

:54:11. > :54:16.Ukip members, the last 23 years has been a lesson in triumph of hope

:54:17. > :54:21.over despair. As Nigel said yesterday, we have had our highs and

:54:22. > :54:25.downloads, and I believe it is indicative of our determination and

:54:26. > :54:31.courage in the face of adversity that we now find ourselves on the

:54:32. > :54:35.brink of Brexit. All too often, we have had people telling us that we

:54:36. > :54:40.were wasting our time, that we'd never get a referendum, and even if

:54:41. > :54:48.we did, the British people would never leave the EU. But despite

:54:49. > :54:52.this, we carried on, delivering leaflets, holding meetings, and

:54:53. > :54:57.standing in elections, even though we were often ridiculed for polling

:54:58. > :55:03.only a few votes. However, far from being a waste of time, all those

:55:04. > :55:08.leaflets we delivered sowed the seeds of Brexit, as more and more

:55:09. > :55:12.people rallied to our cause. I'd like to just give thanks to all

:55:13. > :55:18.those people who get out on the streets in all weathers and stick

:55:19. > :55:21.leaflets through doors and hold street stands, and we must applaud

:55:22. > :55:31.them because they have brought us where we are today, so thank you

:55:32. > :55:35.very much. APPLAUSE. . So, here we are now, those people who told us we

:55:36. > :55:40.were wasting our time have been proved wrong, and we have shown what

:55:41. > :55:45.a small band of passionate and committed activists can achieve when

:55:46. > :55:52.they are led by a brilliant, charismatic leader such as Nigel.

:55:53. > :55:59.Diane, I am certain, in her own way, will continue to inspire us to ever

:56:00. > :56:09.greater success, so our party is going forward, and roll on the next

:56:10. > :56:15.general election. APPLAUSE. I would like to finish with a few words

:56:16. > :56:18.about Gibraltar, as an MP for Southwest County and Gibraltar, I am

:56:19. > :56:23.proud to represent the people who live on the rock, and this time last

:56:24. > :56:29.week I was there to help celebrate their national day. Unlike we

:56:30. > :56:34.Brexiteers, who were thrilled by the result of the EU referendum, the

:56:35. > :56:40.prospect of a Brexit has come as an unwelcome shock to the majority of

:56:41. > :56:43.people from Gibraltar. The 96%, as they call themselves, are

:56:44. > :56:50.understandably concerned as to how Brexit will affect them bearing in

:56:51. > :56:53.mind their neighbour to the north. However, the vast majority

:56:54. > :56:58.recognised that in the same way as they do not want to share their

:56:59. > :57:04.sovereignty with Spain, the majority of the British people do not want to

:57:05. > :57:12.share their 70 with 27 other Member states. APPLAUSE. -- share their

:57:13. > :57:18.sovereignty. They are concerned they may be used as a bargaining chip

:57:19. > :57:25.during the Brexit negotiations. On a number of occasions during my time

:57:26. > :57:31.there, the chief Minister said, as Brexit means Brexit, British means

:57:32. > :57:35.British, no means no to shared sovereignty with Spain, and

:57:36. > :57:40.friendship means friendship. On that note I would urge all of us in Ukip

:57:41. > :57:42.to reaffirm our party's commitment to the people of Gibraltar. APPLAUSE

:57:43. > :57:56.. And to continue to support them in

:57:57. > :57:58.their desire and determination to Remain independent, self-governing

:57:59. > :58:11.and British. Thank you. And on that note, I would

:58:12. > :58:18.just like to say, please enjoy your day. APPLAUSE.

:58:19. > :58:23.Thank you, Julia. The conference, from that, shows a resounding

:58:24. > :58:32.support for Gibraltar, and I think we all agree with that. Mark

:58:33. > :58:39.Harland, is he here? He is. There you are. I thought you were going to

:58:40. > :58:42.come here. Our next Speaker is Mark Harland, the chief executive of

:58:43. > :58:49.Sovereign Draw, one of the great methods we use to raise money for

:58:50. > :58:52.Ukip, and all the things we need to do in electioneering, so Mark will

:58:53. > :58:59.tell us more, thank you very much. APPLAUSE.

:59:00. > :59:02.I am slightly earlier on the programme than originally planned so

:59:03. > :59:07.it's just as well I came downstairs. APPLAUSE. Mr Chairman, ladies and

:59:08. > :59:10.gentlemen come good morning, once again it is my pleasure and

:59:11. > :59:15.privilege to present an update, progress report on the Sovereign

:59:16. > :59:20.Draw, Ukip's very own lottery. I hope you have already seen the back

:59:21. > :59:24.page of our excellent conference programme in which we have

:59:25. > :59:28.highlighted the achievements to date of the Sovereign Draw, which is now

:59:29. > :59:33.in its fifth year, believe it or not. So what I am going to do now is

:59:34. > :59:38.going to a bit more detail and tell you a bit more about what we have

:59:39. > :59:42.said on the back. Raising the necessary funds to function has

:59:43. > :59:48.always been a major problem for any political party. More so for us in

:59:49. > :59:54.Ukip, who don't have the backing of the establishment's deep pockets nor

:59:55. > :59:58.the parties with donations from big unions, but that is what makes us

:59:59. > :00:05.different, and long may that continue. APPLAUSE.

:00:06. > :00:11.Launched over four years ago at the 2012 sprinkle friends in Skegness

:00:12. > :00:13.which seems a lifetime away, the
