:00:00. > :00:00.Now for the latest financial news with Sally

:00:00. > :00:26.Twitter shares slump further as it fails to attract new users.

:00:27. > :00:29.Plus, back to school, from flower arranging to learning

:00:30. > :00:33.Serbian, we look at the booming business of adult education

:00:34. > :00:45.Also in the programme: Janet Yellen fails to bring calm to financial

:00:46. > :00:52.Rico Hizon is tracking the losses in Asia. But first:

:00:53. > :00:54.We start with Twitter, because the social media site is continuing

:00:55. > :00:58.Twitter's shares have slumped in after hours trading

:00:59. > :01:00.after its latest results disappointed investors again.

:01:01. > :01:02.They are worried Twitter is simply failing to grow its business.

:01:03. > :01:07.Twitter made revenue of $710 million in the three months to December.

:01:08. > :01:10.That was up 48% on the same period in the previous year.

:01:11. > :01:19.So far, so good, but here's the problem.

:01:20. > :01:21.Twitter had 320 million monthly active users in the period, that's

:01:22. > :01:25.That number was unchanged on the previous three months.

:01:26. > :01:28.In fact, if you strip out people receiving tweets via text message,

:01:29. > :01:31.Twitters shares have lost more than two-thirds

:01:32. > :01:36.And they are worth a little more than half what they

:01:37. > :02:02.Investors had been getting used to earning reports from Twitter with

:02:03. > :02:09.bad news about how many uses they were attracting. What they weren't

:02:10. > :02:15.ready for was the number falling. -- users. That more than anything

:02:16. > :02:20.explained their initial dive after the report came out. Bear in mind,

:02:21. > :02:26.it has fallen by two thirds in the last year as investors apparently

:02:27. > :02:32.lose faith that all the active tweeters can be translated into

:02:33. > :02:38.business. Can their latest efforts to improve their service allow it to

:02:39. > :02:46.turn the corner? They want to attract users once more and a way to

:02:47. > :02:54.make more money from then. Twitter putts boss tried to sound up beat.

:02:55. > :02:57.-- them. -- Twitter's. We believe we can create a connected audience that

:02:58. > :03:05.watches together and can talk with one another in real-time. Twitter

:03:06. > :03:09.has been alive for ten years now and we will continue to drive in the

:03:10. > :03:13.future. The other question prompted by their problems and especially its

:03:14. > :03:18.collapsing share price is does the company now become an irresistible

:03:19. > :03:24.takeover target for other players in the technology sector? Check your

:03:25. > :03:27.Twitter feed for updates. (LAUGHING). Thank you.

:03:28. > :03:31.Tim Danton is Editor-in-chief of PC Pro magazine.

:03:32. > :03:37.Raising a lot of questions there. Jack Dorsey, who has recently come

:03:38. > :03:42.back as Chief Executive, of course, the founder of Twitter. Came back

:03:43. > :03:48.only a few months ago and has made many changes. Talk us through what

:03:49. > :03:55.he is trying to do now. The interesting phrase he used in that

:03:56. > :04:01.live feed was that there was this idea of a connected daily audience.

:04:02. > :04:09.That is his vision. He wants all other stations to happen on Twitter.

:04:10. > :04:15.He wants us to be connected. -- communications. Let's say you happen

:04:16. > :04:19.to be caught up in some sort of event. You can then simply streamed

:04:20. > :04:24.the video there and then and everything will start concentrating

:04:25. > :04:29.around you. He also mentioned Twitter is something like ten years

:04:30. > :04:36.old and the real problem, really, is that the user numbers are not going

:04:37. > :04:41.up, are they? It has hit a wall. There seems to be some sort of

:04:42. > :04:46.barrier around the 300 million mark. It has been a problem for a while.

:04:47. > :04:53.You can imagine why Wall Street has been concerned. To slump, in such a

:04:54. > :04:58.new vital service, and then for it to go down, Facebook, for example,

:04:59. > :05:02.is that 1.4 billion users, and the newcomers like WhatsApp and

:05:03. > :05:07.Snapchat, where all the young people are going, it starts to make Twitter

:05:08. > :05:14.look a little bit old. So, as we said earlier, perhaps it is an

:05:15. > :05:19.irresistible takeover target. Who is hovering? There are many. Microsoft

:05:20. > :05:27.I can definitely see going for it. Google could do it. If you look at

:05:28. > :05:34.Google Plus, it shows you how difficult it is to make a platform

:05:35. > :05:42.like this. Plus never worked for then. Facebook? I don't really see

:05:43. > :05:47.that happening. -- them. Thank you for coming in. And of course, there

:05:48. > :06:02.is a lot more on our website. And many of us are on Twitter as well.

:06:03. > :06:03.Is to follow a there. -- So follow us there.

:06:04. > :06:06.Let's turn to US interest rates now, because they could be staying where

:06:07. > :06:10.US Federal Reserve Chair, Janet Yellen, has poured cold water

:06:11. > :06:14.on the prospect of a second rise in interest rates any time soon.

:06:15. > :06:16.In her testimony to Congress, she warned financial conditions

:06:17. > :06:18.in the US have become "less supportive" of growth.

:06:19. > :06:21.The US central bank raised interest rates by 0.25% for the first time

:06:22. > :06:25.How is all that playing out on Asian markets?

:06:26. > :06:30.Rico Hizon, Japan closed today, but Hong Kong opened. A funny week.

:06:31. > :06:35.Indeed. What you can see right now in the market, mostly Red Arrows.

:06:36. > :06:46.Hong Kong, South Korea, they have joined the downward trend across the

:06:47. > :06:51.region. As you mentioned, Japan is really taking this well deserved

:06:52. > :06:55.break after the steep falls on Tuesday and Wednesday. It is closed

:06:56. > :07:04.today because of a public holiday. But the biggest losers are Hang

:07:05. > :07:15.Seng. China Mobile as well shedding 4%. And then Korea, young they,

:07:16. > :07:17.losing 2%. -- Hyundai. This ongoing concern over the global economy is

:07:18. > :07:24.continuing to impact regional market. This was confirmed by the US

:07:25. > :07:26.bank chairman in her speech to Congress. Thank you. Good to see

:07:27. > :07:29.you. We are also continuing

:07:30. > :07:31.our series this week Millions of adults across

:07:32. > :07:35.the UK are heading back to school. For some, it's simply

:07:36. > :07:38.an opportunity to learn a new skill For others it's a more serious

:07:39. > :07:42.avenue back into the world of work. Alice Baxter went back

:07:43. > :07:49.into the classroom, to try her hand You don't want to have one

:07:50. > :07:58.flower... Do you know your flowers? No? Would you like to? I don't know

:07:59. > :08:02.the names of any of these. I just think, that looks nice. If you are

:08:03. > :08:06.applying for a job in a flower shop you would be in trouble.

:08:07. > :08:09.(LAUGHING). These are two of the millions of UK adult learners

:08:10. > :08:14.willing to pay for an authentic and novel experience. We decided to come

:08:15. > :08:18.because we are getting married later this year and we thought we could

:08:19. > :08:27.learn to do some table decoration. On the website they think it is a

:08:28. > :08:33.trend set to flow. -- grow. We focus on cooking and things like that.

:08:34. > :08:39.People come to learn directly from crafts people like Gus, textiles,

:08:40. > :08:46.Hitchens, the idea is to go and learn from people directly,

:08:47. > :08:53.professionals and their fields. -- kitchens. Sadly I don't think I

:08:54. > :08:57.could make this my job. But it is left it to something with my hands,

:08:58. > :09:05.something artistic, to learn a new skill, but I won't give up the day

:09:06. > :09:08.job just yet. But for those with employment needs, the government

:09:09. > :09:13.will help fund this to get people back to work. We are offering an

:09:14. > :09:19.opportunity to get back to studying if they did not completed the first

:09:20. > :09:24.time around. Also, graphic design, and make-up, health and social care

:09:25. > :09:28.and childcare... Some of them are retraining or up skilling so they

:09:29. > :09:36.can go out and find work. The government budget for adult learning

:09:37. > :09:46.is $2.1 billion because they think students 19 and over will generate

:09:47. > :09:52.an additional 9.9 billion. You are very linguistically capable... When

:09:53. > :09:57.it comes to learning a foreign language, this woman's students are

:09:58. > :09:59.paying for themselves. Despite the economic rewards, Britain is falling

:10:00. > :10:04.behind many of European neighbours when it comes to supporting its

:10:05. > :10:07.adult learners. Alice Baxter, BBC News. It is definitely her

:10:08. > :10:09.strength, language. Luxury electric car maker Tesla says

:10:10. > :10:16.it lost $320 million Its shares have lost almost

:10:17. > :10:21.a third of their value since the beginning of the year on investor

:10:22. > :10:23.concerns about continuing losses. However they jumped in

:10:24. > :10:25.after hours trading after boss Elon Musk promised investors it

:10:26. > :10:28.would stop losing money this year. Tesla is also forecasting a 60%

:10:29. > :10:41.to 80% growth in vehicle sales. You are up-to-date. We will talk

:10:42. > :10:43.about Janet Yellen and other stories in the papers, that is coming up

:10:44. > :10:49.soon. Ministers are expected to confirm,

:10:50. > :10:52.today or tomorrow,
