:00:00. > :00:21.US watchdogs accuse Fiat Chrysler over its emissions software.

:00:22. > :00:29.The boss calls it "absolute nonsense."

:00:30. > :00:31.Plus, is it a console, or a hand-held?

:00:32. > :00:34.Nintendo takes on Sony, Microsoft and mobile phones

:00:35. > :00:52.We will be talking to a tech guru about that latest Nintendo gadget

:00:53. > :01:08.We start in the US, where car giant, Fiat Chrysler, is denying it

:01:09. > :01:11.faces its own "dieselgate" scandal, just a day after Volkswagen

:01:12. > :01:14.was fined more than $4 billion for cheating emissions tests.

:01:15. > :01:16.The US regulator, the Environmental Protection Agency,

:01:17. > :01:19.is accusing Fiat Chrysler of failing to disclose emissions software,

:01:20. > :01:21.at least eight different types, installed in thousands

:01:22. > :01:25.It says the software allowed the cars to exceed pollution limits,

:01:26. > :01:33.and pump out higher levels of harmful nitrogen dioxide.

:01:34. > :01:36.But the company's boss says it did nothing illegal.

:01:37. > :01:41.The investigation involves the Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV

:01:42. > :01:44.and Dodge Ram pickup made in the last three years.

:01:45. > :01:46.That adds up to more than 100,000 vehicles,

:01:47. > :01:51.The EPA says Fiat Chrysler could be liable for fines of up

:01:52. > :02:01.But Fiat Chrysler's boss Sergio Marchionne called

:02:02. > :02:03.the investigation "absolute nonsense," he says there was never

:02:04. > :02:05.an intention to cheat emissions tests.

:02:06. > :02:08.Still, investors aren't so sure, the company's stock plunged as much

:02:09. > :02:11.as 16% on the news, although, it did recover after Mr Marchionne

:02:12. > :02:14.gave a conference call to reassure them, ending about 10% down.

:02:15. > :02:54.From New York, here's Samira Hussain.

:02:55. > :03:01.with regards to whether actually they are being accused of this, the

:03:02. > :03:07.Environmental Protection Agency says they used software to allow access

:03:08. > :03:12.diesel emissions in more than 100,000 trucks and sport utility

:03:13. > :03:17.vehicles sold since 2014. Briefly, it seems they could have been

:03:18. > :03:21.engaged in similar activities as Volkswagen. But what the head of

:03:22. > :03:27.Chrysler has said is that this is just a case of misunderstanding. And

:03:28. > :03:31.Chrysler had been in touch with the EPA for a long time and had gone

:03:32. > :03:40.through many discussions with regard to how their remissions tests works.

:03:41. > :03:44.Chrysler was quick to defend themselves against these accusations

:03:45. > :03:48.by the Environment Protection Agency and further to say that any sort of

:03:49. > :03:50.comparison between them and Volkswagen is just outrageous.

:03:51. > :03:51.Indeed. Jim Holder, is the Editorial

:03:52. > :03:54.Director at Haymarket Automotive which publishes WhatCar,

:03:55. > :04:04.Autocar and the Pistonheads website. You know a thing or two about cars.

:04:05. > :04:13.Thank you for coming in at this horrible hour. Is that true or

:04:14. > :04:18.false? They have firmly rebutted be accusations, but there was a waiting

:04:19. > :04:22.time, almost 1.5 years now, everyone has waited for someone in the car

:04:23. > :04:26.industry to be caught. Is that because when Volkswagen surfaced,

:04:27. > :04:33.the scandal, we thought that could not be the only one. That was always

:04:34. > :04:37.the suspicion. Every manufacturer has been investigated and many have

:04:38. > :04:44.come away looking like they have not cheated. But this may have stuck at

:04:45. > :04:52.last. The FCA are under the spotlight. Good Chrysler benefit in

:04:53. > :04:56.seven days' time when Donald Trump becomes president? There is a strong

:04:57. > :05:06.suspicion that the FCA have been playing a waiting game,? Fiat

:05:07. > :05:13.Chrysler yes it. Donald Trump is not a strong environmentalist. They have

:05:14. > :05:16.a very strong relationship with Donald Trump. The big boss of this

:05:17. > :05:22.company is friends with Donald Trump. It is the only one that has

:05:23. > :05:27.not been criticised by Donald Trump in the last few weeks. They have a

:05:28. > :05:34.strong relationship. The incoming Environment Protection Agency boss

:05:35. > :05:39.has a different thought on this. Could this accelerate, no pun

:05:40. > :05:51.intended, the demise of diesel? I think it is gathering momentum, the

:05:52. > :05:54.anti-diesel movement, in Europe, many countries are banning it. In

:05:55. > :06:08.3-5 years, we could see volumes significantly come down. OK. So

:06:09. > :06:16.don't buy a diesel? I wouldn't suggest it. I have one. Anyone want

:06:17. > :06:18.to buy mine? And now to the other big story in the past half-hour.

:06:19. > :06:23.It's just been unveiled by Nintendo, and it's called the Switch.

:06:24. > :06:29.It can work as a hand-held gaming device, or plug into your TV and be

:06:30. > :06:34.Nintendo hope they can cash in on the surge in mobile gaming.

:06:35. > :06:36.Remember the success of their own Pokemon Go?

:06:37. > :06:39.And also take on the Microsoft XBox and Sony Playstation

:06:40. > :06:47.It will go on sale on March third at around $260 in Japan and $299

:06:48. > :06:50.And, hopefully, make everyone forget about the disastrous flop

:06:51. > :06:54.John Porter is the Home Technology Writer at TechRadar,

:06:55. > :07:01.a website that advises tech fans on what to buy.

:07:02. > :07:10.It is great to have you with us. What do you think about this? What

:07:11. > :07:14.is Nintendo doing? Are they hanging on to the past? I did not bring my

:07:15. > :07:21.mobile phone but I wanted to waive it around and say that mobile gaming

:07:22. > :07:25.surely has to be the future. This has always been the problem with

:07:26. > :07:36.Nintendo, having a problem with the potable side. The Nintendo DS and

:07:37. > :07:39.the home console side, the Wii and Wii U. Hopefully they can reconcile

:07:40. > :07:46.both and bring them together into the Switch. The prices bit steep.

:07:47. > :07:55.299 is similar in the United States to what you would pay for the XBox

:07:56. > :08:01.one consoles. It is a little bit cheaper. But if you are a first-time

:08:02. > :08:06.buyer and are looking at the three consuls, you get more bang for your

:08:07. > :08:12.buck with the XBox one or the PlayStation. This will not be able

:08:13. > :08:21.to take them on, the Xbox or the PlayStation? It depends. Nintendo's

:08:22. > :08:25.strength has been the first party games, Super Mario, Zelda... They

:08:26. > :08:33.seem strong with that. The real test will be with third-party publishers,

:08:34. > :08:41.Ubisoft, etc. In that regard, the presentation has shown off some good

:08:42. > :08:51.things. We had but as the come on saying that Switch would have

:08:52. > :09:06.Skyrim. -- Bethesda. Also Fifa will come to it as well. And you advise

:09:07. > :09:09.technology fans to buy or not to buy. What do you recommend? With

:09:10. > :09:13.something like the Switch, we have to see what the full launch looks

:09:14. > :09:19.like. Zelda looks like a good launch game. But it is not quite enough to

:09:20. > :09:25.recommend an entire game system. OK. Thank you very much for coming in,

:09:26. > :09:30.John. Have a good day and have a good weekend. Let me leave you with

:09:31. > :09:33.two stories before we go. Lee has been questioned for over 22

:09:34. > :09:37.hours on suspicion of bribery in a corruption scandal involving

:09:38. > :09:39.President Park Geun-hye. The South Korean special

:09:40. > :09:41.prosecutor's office is investigating whether Samsung provided $25 million

:09:42. > :09:44.to a business and foundations backed by Park's friend in exchange

:09:45. > :09:47.for the national pension fund's support for a 2015 merger

:09:48. > :09:49.of two Samsung companies. It says it will decide soon

:09:50. > :09:53.whether to issue a warrant Wow! It is heating up in South

:09:54. > :10:06.Korea, isn't it? India's most powerful

:10:07. > :10:08.corporation has a new boss. Natarajan Chandra-sekaran has been

:10:09. > :10:11.named the new Chairman of the $100 It has assets all over the world

:10:12. > :10:20.including Jaguar Landrover here in the UK,

:10:21. > :10:22.as well as Tata Steel. He will have to work hard

:10:23. > :10:26.to repair damage to the group after the acrimonious sacking

:10:27. > :10:28.of the previous boss Cyrus Mistry, who alleged serious ethical

:10:29. > :10:30.and governance problems at the company and

:10:31. > :10:42.is now being sued. so, he has got his work cut out for

:10:43. > :10:43.him. And that is it for
