:00:18. > :00:20.Following the attack on London Bridge, we'll hear

:00:21. > :00:23.from an expert on whether the UK security forces are in need

:00:24. > :00:29.And the bosses of the world's biggest airlines are holding

:00:30. > :00:36.We'll take a look at the issues facing the industry

:00:37. > :00:48.I'm Sally Bundock also in the programme the UK

:00:49. > :00:51.Prime Minister accuses the likes of Facebook and Google as providing

:00:52. > :00:54.a "safe space" for terrorist ideology - we'll have the reaction

:00:55. > :00:59.from the social media giants in a few moments.

:01:00. > :01:03.The leader of the UK Labour Party Jeremy Corbyn has

:01:04. > :01:07.accused the government of trying to "protect the public on the cheap"

:01:08. > :01:10.in a speech focusing on the London terror incident.

:01:11. > :01:13.On Saturday evening 7 people were killed and dozens injured

:01:14. > :01:16.in a terrorist attack carried out by 3 men who were shot dead

:01:17. > :01:19.by police within minutes of the attack taking place.

:01:20. > :01:22.It was Britain's second major terrorist incident in the space

:01:23. > :01:30.It began when a hired van was used to knock down pedestrians on

:01:31. > :01:39.3 men wearing fake suicide vests then left the vehicle

:01:40. > :01:46.and began stabbing people in pubs and bars in nearby Borough Market.

:01:47. > :01:49.Within 8 minutes the three men had been confronted

:01:50. > :01:55.A member of the public was also injured in the exchanges.

:01:56. > :01:58.The Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn says the reduction in the number

:01:59. > :02:01.of police officers is a sign the security forces are not getting

:02:02. > :02:04.Despite this, the Conservative Security Minister Ben Wallace says

:02:05. > :02:07.the Labour leaders comments mark a U-turn on his previous stance

:02:08. > :02:32.We were talking two weeks ago, following the events in Manchester

:02:33. > :02:38.and it is ashamed to be having this conversation so soon but we have an

:02:39. > :02:46.election and I have mentioned the discussions going on post Saturday

:02:47. > :02:52.evening about resources in our police, your thoughts. There is no

:02:53. > :02:58.hiding from the fact that resources have dropped since 2010. Police will

:02:59. > :03:04.always want more resources to deal with this threat but the response

:03:05. > :03:14.capability was absolutely fantastic, to be able to deal with it in H-back

:03:15. > :03:23.minutes was fantastic. --8. The ship will go towards the prevent side of

:03:24. > :03:28.things -- the shift. This is a policy put in place by current

:03:29. > :03:36.government is where they are trying to prevent something like this by

:03:37. > :03:42.having better discussion with Wilson communities? It is part of the

:03:43. > :03:50.counter terrorism strategy which is a reporting mechanism for people who

:03:51. > :03:55.have suspicions about people or areas of community that might be

:03:56. > :03:58.looking to organise and participate in these kind of attacks. It is

:03:59. > :04:11.about getting in touch with officials. A report in 2016, 7500

:04:12. > :04:19.calls were made. Somebody spoke to us to say he is a neighbour of one

:04:20. > :04:24.of the three men involved in the London Bridge attack and he says he

:04:25. > :04:30.reported one of them to the police, the same with the Manchester bomb

:04:31. > :04:34.many saying they were concerned about his behaviour and he had been

:04:35. > :04:40.reported. Is it just too many individuals being named and they

:04:41. > :04:47.cannot respond to that? The complexity of the threat we

:04:48. > :04:52.currently face is an enormous task. 3000 people on a watch list and you

:04:53. > :04:59.cannot physically watch all those people all the time so you need to

:05:00. > :05:08.have key targets. 550 active investigations active at one time in

:05:09. > :05:13.counter terrorism. Did they miss anything? Should they have been

:05:14. > :05:20.higher prioritise? How can they ensure in future attacks date

:05:21. > :05:22.prioritise them. Thank you again for coming in and sharing your

:05:23. > :05:24.expertise. Following the attack this weekend,

:05:25. > :05:27.the UK Prime Minister Theresa May has hit out at the role of internet

:05:28. > :05:30.companies which she described as providing a "safe space"

:05:31. > :05:33.for terrorist ideology. Our reporter Joe Lynam

:05:34. > :05:44.has the details. Theresa May, the British Prime

:05:45. > :05:50.Minister, called on the Internet companies to do an awful lot more to

:05:51. > :05:54.tackle the dissemination of extremist and offensive material on

:05:55. > :06:00.the Internet. While the tone was new, it was angrier, the message is

:06:01. > :06:05.not. In the manifesto ahead of the election, the Prime Minister called

:06:06. > :06:11.for sanctions on Internet companies for failing to back down offensive

:06:12. > :06:15.material quickly enough. Internet companies responded today saying

:06:16. > :06:19.they would be doing a lot more. Twitter, Facebook and Google say

:06:20. > :06:23.they are on an international panel to share material with one another.

:06:24. > :06:31.They have a database together and digitally print offensive videos and

:06:32. > :06:37.posts. But with 400 hours of videos posted on YouTube every single

:06:38. > :06:44.minute and 2 billion active users on Facebook, there is so much that can

:06:45. > :06:50.be done by soft wear. You need the human eye editorial and judgement.

:06:51. > :06:52.But it is never enough especially when people are killed on the

:06:53. > :06:52.street. And security is of paramount

:06:53. > :06:55.importance to the airline sector. It has performed well in recent

:06:56. > :06:58.years, despite fierce competition But as the international

:06:59. > :07:07.trade body - IATA - meets for its annual get together

:07:08. > :07:11.in Mexico could 2017 be a year Profits last year were at a record

:07:12. > :07:24.high at $35.6 billion - with passenger numbers up 6.3

:07:25. > :07:27.percent compared to 2015. But IATA has since downgraded

:07:28. > :07:30.its outlook for this year saying the rising cost of oil will provide

:07:31. > :07:34.a headwind for the industry but also The question of whether the

:07:35. > :07:38.United States will extend its ban on laptops in the cabin

:07:39. > :07:40.for ALL international The US already has a ban on large

:07:41. > :07:44.electronic devices on flights to and from eight

:07:45. > :07:48.mostly-Muslim countries. With me is Victoria Moores,

:07:49. > :08:01.European editor Good morning and thank you for

:08:02. > :08:11.coming in. The issue of security and the laptop ban. What will they be

:08:12. > :08:18.discussing today? What we saw a few weeks back was this rapidly

:08:19. > :08:23.implemented ban on large electronic devices, items larger than an iPhone

:08:24. > :08:31.on specific flights to the US. The UK quickly reciprocated and put in a

:08:32. > :08:36.band, not quite the same but very similar. In recent weeks, talk of

:08:37. > :08:43.the widening of the band. Officials in talk with each other about

:08:44. > :08:47.widening the ban. The impact on traffic could be absolutely huge.

:08:48. > :08:58.And the impact on some airlines have been huge. Precisely. In the April

:08:59. > :09:05.numbers, released by IATA, you could see it was in packing travel to and

:09:06. > :09:10.from the Middle East and IATA IATA saying this could have an impact on

:09:11. > :09:15.productivity. It could be as wide as it is over $4 billion. 50% of

:09:16. > :09:21.business travellers have said they would rethink their business travel

:09:22. > :09:28.if employees cannot take their laptop on board. Tell us about

:09:29. > :09:36.Brexit as well, the likes of EasyJet grappling with that? Precisely. With

:09:37. > :09:40.Brexit, a lot of people do not realise how highly regulated the

:09:41. > :09:48.airline industry it is. For example, the fact that our airlines are able

:09:49. > :09:55.to fly to Europe is wrapped up in an agreement that we can fly freely and

:09:56. > :10:02.it took a long time to be put in place. What we are looking at, worse

:10:03. > :10:08.case scenario, this is what Ryanair have said, cessation of all flights

:10:09. > :10:14.to and from Europe. In theory it is a bit of posturing. Also flights to

:10:15. > :10:21.America because we are governed under European rules for our flights

:10:22. > :10:25.to the US. It is a big thing that needs to be unscrambling an airlines

:10:26. > :10:33.will need to start taking bookings for next year and they need an

:10:34. > :10:38.answer sooner rather than later. We will keep close eye on the IATA

:10:39. > :10:50.meeting. I will see you soon. Saturday's attack happened just four

:10:51. > :10:53.days before the general election which will go ahead

:10:54. > :10:56.as planned on Thursday.
