:00:22. > :00:27.Steve, Steve, Sofia, thank you very much, and to all of Birmingham,

:00:28. > :00:30.thank you for being here tonight. This is the first time we have done

:00:31. > :00:39.a rally all over the country for our party. Thank you for being here

:00:40. > :00:46.tonight. CHEERING Thank you Steve Coogan for being the

:00:47. > :00:51.compere. They get up for Steve. -- big it up. Sofia, thanks what you

:00:52. > :00:58.have said and for standing up against the racists when they came

:00:59. > :01:03.for you. And whilst we are here in Birmingham tonight, fantastic

:01:04. > :01:08.evening here, can we say hello to the rally is going on all over the

:01:09. > :01:19.country? CHEERING Can you dig it up for Warrington? --

:01:20. > :01:25.big. And for our rally taking place in Brighton. CHEERING

:01:26. > :01:31.Euro I'm sure it is bright yellow macro I'm

:01:32. > :01:37.-- I'm sure it is bright and warm and sunny in Brighton, it always is.

:01:38. > :01:42.Say hello to everyone in Scotland, don't forget to vote Labour in

:01:43. > :01:52.Scotland on Thursday and everywhere else. Can you also say, hello

:01:53. > :01:56.London. Thursday is election day and we are almost at the end of this

:01:57. > :02:01.amazing campaign. But I've still got about six more rallies tomorrow. We

:02:02. > :02:04.are leaving no place untouched and no stone unturned and we are going

:02:05. > :02:19.all-out to win this election. And because in this election there

:02:20. > :02:27.is a very very clear choice. Five more years of a Tory government. I

:02:28. > :02:31.don't want five more years of a Tory government, and try to explain what

:02:32. > :02:36.will happen if you get five more years of a Tory government -- I'm

:02:37. > :02:40.trying to explain. Some of the people in the crowd are slightly

:02:41. > :02:45.ahead of me. LAUGHTER Thank you. There are many people

:02:46. > :02:50.living in great poverty in Great Britain, many Jordan, that is wrong

:02:51. > :02:55.and immoral and very unnecessary. -- many children. If they carry on with

:02:56. > :02:59.their policies, these children will not get the policies and chances in

:03:00. > :03:05.life that they deserve and how many of them will be even poorer after

:03:06. > :03:10.five more years of the Tory government, and how longer will the

:03:11. > :03:13.waiting lists be in our A departments and hospitals and how

:03:14. > :03:19.much more overcrowded Will our school classes B after five more

:03:20. > :03:22.years of a Tory government. How many more people will be sleeping on the

:03:23. > :03:30.streets of our towns and cities because of a government who doesn't

:03:31. > :03:37.care and ignores their needs for them how much more can people take a

:03:38. > :03:41.vague -- government that is only interested in the wealthiest of this

:03:42. > :03:46.country and are not interested in the majority, walking by on the

:03:47. > :03:51.other side while poverty increases, while the opportunities the young

:03:52. > :03:59.people are denied. Surely, we can as a society do something different.

:04:00. > :04:08.CHEERING The financial crisis of 2008, 2009,

:04:09. > :04:13.was visited upon this country and the Tories and the Lib Dems in

:04:14. > :04:19.coalition did what? They slashed funding for public services and

:04:20. > :04:23.froze public sector pay and laid off ambulance workers and firefighters

:04:24. > :04:28.and police officers and nurses, every single group lost out. Every

:04:29. > :04:36.community lost services and facilities. And do you know what? At

:04:37. > :04:41.the other end of the scale, were the cuts made for the very richest? Were

:04:42. > :04:48.there in increased taxes for the big businesses and corporations? Was

:04:49. > :04:54.there any effort to make those at the top and pay for the crisis? You

:04:55. > :05:00.know the answer. The answer was the people have suffered, whilst

:05:01. > :05:07.inequality has grown in our society. I tell you what, this election was

:05:08. > :05:10.called in an atmosphere of the government saying it is the

:05:11. > :05:14.government standing for election and we are a strong and stable

:05:15. > :05:19.government. They don't say that very often now.

:05:20. > :05:28.And they just imagined everything was going to be all over why June

:05:29. > :05:35.the 8th. I tell you what, they underestimated us, didn't they? They

:05:36. > :05:41.underestimated us. They underestimated us and the campaign

:05:42. > :05:50.we would mount. And do you know what the turning point was? When we

:05:51. > :06:06.produced this. For the many, not the few, for the many, not the few. I'm

:06:07. > :06:09.not finished yet! Thank you! What we do in this manifesto, and I really

:06:10. > :06:15.do pay tribute to all those who put so much effort into writing it, all

:06:16. > :06:19.those people who contributed in the Labour Party, in the trade unions,

:06:20. > :06:24.in hundreds of voluntary organisations, giving as their views

:06:25. > :06:30.and ideas and opinions. And fundamentally it goes like this.

:06:31. > :06:34.Young people are our future, than people give us everything, we must

:06:35. > :06:43.give them all the best chances we can. And that's why I'm so proud

:06:44. > :06:50.that so many have registered to vote for the first time. And we say to

:06:51. > :06:56.those far too young to vote and those parents of very small

:06:57. > :07:00.children, a Labour government will provide 30 hours per week free for

:07:01. > :07:08.every child to go into a preschool place. A Labour government will

:07:09. > :07:15.properly fund our primary schools so the headteachers don't have to have

:07:16. > :07:20.collections at the school gate to try to pay the bills. I pay my

:07:21. > :07:31.taxes, you pay your taxes, we want them for every child to receive the

:07:32. > :07:35.best they can. But do you know, hungry children don't learn, hungry

:07:36. > :07:41.children can't concentrate. And so this government takes away the

:07:42. > :07:45.limited free school meals there are. We will provide a free school meals

:07:46. > :07:52.for every child in every primary school. And do you know what, they

:07:53. > :07:57.will eat it together, and in children there is the most wonderful

:07:58. > :08:06.sense of imagination and creativity. Let's let that imagination flow. So

:08:07. > :08:11.we have decided we will introduce a pupil arts premium so every child in

:08:12. > :08:24.every school can learn a musical instrument. Because Birmingham has

:08:25. > :08:26.given us such great musicians. I won't go through them all because I

:08:27. > :08:36.might need somebody out and you would all get upset and I don't want

:08:37. > :08:40.anybody to be upset tonight. OK. And later on in the School life there

:08:41. > :08:47.are important things to do. Very important things to do and that is

:08:48. > :08:56.what youngsters get in the wake of college and university education.

:08:57. > :09:07.Thank you very much. And can I say, thank you to so many musicians who

:09:08. > :09:13.have come on board, so many people from so many different cultural

:09:14. > :09:19.walks of life have come on board to support Labour in this election,

:09:20. > :09:28.thank you very much. But I'm also determined, very determined, that

:09:29. > :09:35.every youngster should get a chance to get an apprenticeship, go to

:09:36. > :09:42.college or go to university. And so we will end student fees, restore

:09:43. > :09:48.student grants and restore the EMEA. These things are crucial for every

:09:49. > :09:55.youngster to get a chance in life. Those that achieve achieve for

:09:56. > :09:59.themselves but they also achieved for all of us. A young person who

:10:00. > :10:06.wants to be an engineer, who wants to be a nurse, a doctor, cannot do

:10:07. > :10:11.it because they can't afford it. They lose, we lose, we all lose.

:10:12. > :10:21.When you invest in young people you invest for the future of all of us.

:10:22. > :10:25.One of our proudest ever achievements was the foundation of

:10:26. > :10:30.the National Health Service free at the point of use for all people,

:10:31. > :10:35.fundamental human right for all. We will fund it properly, we will not

:10:36. > :10:41.leave a million people waiting for social care and we will not walk by

:10:42. > :10:46.on the other side while those suffer, often alone, through a

:10:47. > :10:53.mental health crisis. We have to be a society that cares for and

:10:54. > :11:00.includes. People say to me, all this is a wish list. No, it's not, it is

:11:01. > :11:01.a programme, it's an agenda and do you know what, we are going to carry

:11:02. > :11:16.it out. And it does cost, of course. But we

:11:17. > :11:21.live in a country of great riches and we also live in a country of

:11:22. > :11:24.increasing poverty. 6 million people earning less than the living wage, a

:11:25. > :11:29.million on zero hours contracts, million on zero hours contracts,

:11:30. > :11:33.many of our children growing up in overcrowded homes in the great

:11:34. > :11:38.poverty. Councils like Birmingham and others do their very best to

:11:39. > :11:42.build the homes we need for the future. But we have a government

:11:43. > :11:48.interested in homes for the wealthy interested in homes for the wealthy

:11:49. > :11:55.and homes for the few. So let us resolve to do things differently.

:11:56. > :12:01.Invest in education, invest in health, invest in housing, invest in

:12:02. > :12:12.jobs, invest in the future for all of us. And this election on this

:12:13. > :12:17.programme gives us all an opportunity to change the political

:12:18. > :12:26.direction of this country. Look around you are here tonight in

:12:27. > :12:31.Birmingham. Look around you at the crowds there in London, Brighton,

:12:32. > :12:38.Warrington, look at each other, at your faces, who we are, we are

:12:39. > :12:43.young, old, black, white, gay, straight, men, women, everything, we

:12:44. > :12:48.are to unity, people doing things together! Because that is what this

:12:49. > :12:55.election is about. On the one hand you have got the Conservative Party

:12:56. > :12:59.who Theresa May doesn't like to mention very often. And you have got

:13:00. > :13:07.a popular movement, you have got people coming out because they want

:13:08. > :13:12.to do things differently. So in the last day and a half until the

:13:13. > :13:16.polling stations open, 36 hours or so until they open, can I ask you

:13:17. > :13:25.all, have those conversations wherever you go. Ask people what

:13:26. > :13:30.kind of country, what kind of world, what kind of society they want to

:13:31. > :13:35.live in. Do they want us to go down the road of the greater gap between

:13:36. > :13:40.the richest and the poorest? Do they want to go down the road where our

:13:41. > :13:44.public services are underfunded? Our young people have unrequited

:13:45. > :13:48.ambition and our older people are isolated and alone for lack of

:13:49. > :13:55.support? Or do they want to do something different?

:13:56. > :14:04.Business rate issues particularly impacting, independent once, but I'm

:14:05. > :14:08.interested to hear from you, not me tell you what your problems are and

:14:09. > :14:14.we will see what we can do about them. We have a few different pub

:14:15. > :14:19.landlords here. And the local businesses from George Street and

:14:20. > :14:25.the local area. We have a pub up the road, our value has gone from 23,002

:14:26. > :14:26.103. A other pubs around,
