:00:33. > :00:50.APPLAUSE APPLAUSE

:00:51. > :00:54.Thank you. Thank you very much everybody, and it's great to be back

:00:55. > :00:59.in Norwich, and can I say thank you to all of you from great -- for

:01:00. > :01:05.breaking off from campaigning to come here today. I just wanted to

:01:06. > :01:10.say a few things to you, because this is a really crucial election, I

:01:11. > :01:14.think it is the most critical country has faced in my lifetime.

:01:15. > :01:18.And I know what hard work you have all been doing throughout the

:01:19. > :01:26.campaign, and it is less than 36 hours before the polls close am so

:01:27. > :01:33.let us make the most of that time. Being in Government is a huge

:01:34. > :01:37.honour, but it is also a huge responsibility, and at no time has

:01:38. > :01:44.that responsibility been greater than now. Because our country is

:01:45. > :01:50.facing great challenges, but also huge opportunities are opening up to

:01:51. > :01:53.us. And as we go out campaigning in this remaining time, I want us to

:01:54. > :01:58.take out the message to people of the clear choice that is there for

:01:59. > :02:03.them when they vote tomorrow. And the message of the vision that we as

:02:04. > :02:08.Conservatives have for building a stronger, fairer and more prosperous

:02:09. > :02:12.Britain than it is today. And it is only the Conservatives that have the

:02:13. > :02:17.plan and the vision and the determination to do that. And I am

:02:18. > :02:22.absolutely confident that we can do that, because I believe in Britain

:02:23. > :02:28.and I believe in the British people. And I want to see us building a

:02:29. > :02:32.country where nobody and no community is left behind. I want to

:02:33. > :02:36.see us building a country where it doesn't matter where you came from

:02:37. > :02:42.or who your parents are, how far you go is down to you and your hard

:02:43. > :02:47.work. I want to see a country as we leave the European Union, we do see

:02:48. > :02:52.opportunities opening up to us, and I think the promise of Brexit is

:02:53. > :02:57.great. I want to see us as a global, a good-looking nation, I want to see

:02:58. > :03:02.us out there trading our way round the world. I want to ensure that

:03:03. > :03:06.economic prosperity and opportunity is spread throughout the whole

:03:07. > :03:13.country. I want to ensure that this is a country that feels more

:03:14. > :03:17.confident in its self. -- itself. And I believe in Britain and in the

:03:18. > :03:23.British people. And that is the message that we will take out in

:03:24. > :03:29.these remaining hours. Because, you know, there are great things that we

:03:30. > :03:36.can do together. And I want us to reignite the British spirit. To show

:03:37. > :03:45.the opportunities and what we can be as a country. Now, when it comes to

:03:46. > :03:48.the election tomorrow, I think the choices and the questions people

:03:49. > :03:52.need to ask are exactly the same today as they were right at the

:03:53. > :03:57.beginning of the campaign, and the first is the question of who do you

:03:58. > :04:01.trust to actually have the strong and stable leadership that is going

:04:02. > :04:07.to deliver the best deal for Britain in Europe? Because Brexit matters.

:04:08. > :04:14.Brexit is the basis of everything else. We need to get that Brexit

:04:15. > :04:18.deal right. And another question is, who has got the will and crucially

:04:19. > :04:25.the plan to just get on with the job and deliver Brexit? And remember,

:04:26. > :04:30.those Brexit negotiations start 11 days after polling day tomorrow. So

:04:31. > :04:33.in less than a fortnight, the Prime Minister and the Government have to

:04:34. > :04:37.be ready to go out there and negotiate for Britain, and stand up

:04:38. > :04:43.and fight for Britain. And there is one simple fact that nobody should

:04:44. > :04:48.forget, which is that if we lose just six seats, the Government loses

:04:49. > :04:52.its majority. That would mean that Coalition of chaos, with Labour, the

:04:53. > :05:01.Lib Dems and the SNP. It would mean Jeremy Corbyn... In Number Ten, John

:05:02. > :05:05.McDonnell at the Treasury, and what a combination that would be, we know

:05:06. > :05:09.they would wreck our economy, and what we also know with Labour is

:05:10. > :05:15.that it is ordinary working people who always pay the price. And in

:05:16. > :05:18.that Coalition of chaos of course there is a third element, we would

:05:19. > :05:24.see the SNP and Nicola Sturgeon pulling the strings. So we can

:05:25. > :05:28.prevent that from happening. Every vote for a Conservative candidate

:05:29. > :05:33.here and around the country can prevent that from happening, every

:05:34. > :05:35.candidate -- every vote for Conservative candidates will

:05:36. > :05:42.strengthen my hand in those Brexit negotiations, and every voter

:05:43. > :05:46.Conservative candidates will enable us to fight for that brighter future

:05:47. > :05:50.in the country. So let's go out there with renewed determination in

:05:51. > :05:55.these last hours, let's go out there not for ourselves but for the future

:05:56. > :05:59.of our country. And I have a very simple message to people. Vote

:06:00. > :06:04.Conservative in the national interest. Give me your backing lead

:06:05. > :06:09.Britain. Give me the authority to speak for Britain. Strengthen my

:06:10. > :06:12.hand when I negotiate for Britain. And with your backing, I will

:06:13. > :06:42.deliver for Britain. Thank you. Now, we have some members of the

:06:43. > :06:46.media. Andy. When you call this election a lot of people were

:06:47. > :06:49.talking about a landslide. Nobody is talking about that any more, isn't

:06:50. > :06:55.the reason for that the campaign that you have led, it's been a

:06:56. > :06:59.disappointment, hasn't it? There is only one poll that matters. I have

:07:00. > :07:02.never talked about predicting election results, I say one simple

:07:03. > :07:06.thing you need to do in an election is go out there and work to earn the

:07:07. > :07:12.support of voters. That's exactly what I've been doing, it's what

:07:13. > :07:17.Chloe and Lana have been doing, it's what candidates all run have been

:07:18. > :07:21.doing. It's what all these activates -- activists have been doing. So the

:07:22. > :07:25.only poll that matters is the one that takes place tomorrow.

:07:26. > :07:31.Throughout this campaign you have said you have a plan for Brexit, but

:07:32. > :07:35.after six, seven weeks, voters are no clearer to knowing how you plan

:07:36. > :07:38.to pull Britain out of the single market, what Bill you might pay

:07:39. > :07:44.Brussels, what the consequence of you failing would be. You haven't

:07:45. > :07:51.given voters a clear choice, have you? Yes I have, I gave a speech

:07:52. > :07:54.back in January, where I set out the negotiation -- negotiating

:07:55. > :07:59.objectives for Brexit. We have repeated those, we have set those

:08:00. > :08:03.are clearly in our manifesto. The article 15 letter triggering the

:08:04. > :08:07.start of negotiations, I set out clearly objectives that we have got,

:08:08. > :08:09.a conference of free trade agreement, a deep and personal

:08:10. > :08:16.partnership with the EU in the future. Continuing to cooperate on

:08:17. > :08:20.Security and defence matters. And there are 12 objectives I have set

:08:21. > :08:25.out for the Brexit negotiations. I have been very clear what our plan

:08:26. > :08:30.for Brexit is, Jeremy Corbyn's had I think seven Brexit plans in nine

:08:31. > :08:33.months. When you are going into this negotiations, you need to know what

:08:34. > :08:42.you want and how you are going to go about it. And we do. After 77

:08:43. > :08:47.bombings, the Conservatives accused the Labour Government of a knee jerk

:08:48. > :08:53.response. -- 7/7 bombings. Aren't you doing the same by warnings of

:08:54. > :08:57.tightening the human rights legislation? We are seeing the

:08:58. > :09:01.terrorist threat changing, we are seeing it evolve, and really to

:09:02. > :09:05.respond to that. And as I sat on the steps of Downing street, enough is

:09:06. > :09:10.enough and things have to change. That is why I have said I believe we

:09:11. > :09:13.do need to do more to tackle the ideology motivating the perpetrators

:09:14. > :09:19.of these attacks. We need to have those international agreements to

:09:20. > :09:23.wreck -- regulates cyberspace so the terrorists cannot plan online, we

:09:24. > :09:27.need to do more to stamp out extremism here in communities in

:09:28. > :09:31.Britain. And yes, we did need to know -- that the powers for police

:09:32. > :09:35.and intelligence agencies, to make sure they have the powers they need.

:09:36. > :09:40.I have talked about some of those powers, like making it easy to

:09:41. > :09:43.deport foreign terrorists sub -- suspects, like being able to do more

:09:44. > :09:47.to restrict the freedom and movements of terrorist suspects when

:09:48. > :09:52.we know they are a threat, but when we don't have the evidence to

:09:53. > :09:55.prosecute them fully in court, and longer sentences for terrorism

:09:56. > :10:00.related offences for those who are convicted for them. And what I have

:10:01. > :10:03.been clear about is that if human rights laws get in the way of us

:10:04. > :10:16.doing those things, which I think the necessary as the first has

:10:17. > :10:21.evolved, we will change those rules. Prime Minister, how would any of the

:10:22. > :10:25.measures on human rights and counterterrorism you have announced

:10:26. > :10:28.in the last 24 hours have prevented the last three terrorist attacks in

:10:29. > :10:32.the UK? In those cases all the suspects were already down to MI5

:10:33. > :10:49.and the security services. -- were already known.

:10:50. > :10:59.And and in increased. We're seeing terrorism and breeding terrorism and

:11:00. > :11:05.the difference in the crude methods used. We need to adapt our response

:11:06. > :11:13.to that. As Home Secretary, I was clear that when the police and

:11:14. > :11:19.security services wanted the laws to do their jobs, we gave them to them.

:11:20. > :11:23.We set in Major legislation, the powers of the security services, but

:11:24. > :11:31.now the threat is becoming more complex and involved evolving, we

:11:32. > :11:41.need to adapt to give the police powers need. Thank you. There may be

:11:42. > :11:47.scores of Labour supporters who can't bring themselves to vote for

:11:48. > :11:54.Corbyn, but they aren't sure about you either. How are you going to

:11:55. > :11:57.change things over Brexit? This is a question of not how they voted

:11:58. > :12:03.before but who they want to see, not just for the next five years but the

:12:04. > :12:09.country in the future. I would say to those voters that they will

:12:10. > :12:16.probably be the sort of people that I met in North West Durham years

:12:17. > :12:21.ago, who are patriotic who want to see good jobs for their children.

:12:22. > :12:27.They want their children to get a good quality of education, who want

:12:28. > :12:31.the public services to be there when they need it. And it's the

:12:32. > :12:41.Conservative Party will build that strong economy, with better paid

:12:42. > :12:45.jobs. We will help people by capping those rip-off energy tariffs. By

:12:46. > :12:52.growing our economy, we will ensure we can invest in the NHS, a good

:12:53. > :12:55.school place for every child, and proper technical education for the

:12:56. > :12:56.first time the young people in this country.

:12:57. > :13:10.APPLAUSE In 2011, you scrapped control orders

:13:11. > :13:15.and replace them with less restrictive powers over terrorist

:13:16. > :13:20.suspects. Isn't this just another U-turn because you want to now beef

:13:21. > :13:35.them up again? Reason we did what we did, was because the courts

:13:36. > :13:40.increasingly knocked them down so we introduced TPIMs. It's right that we

:13:41. > :13:51.look again to see what powers we can give. I will take a couple more. The

:13:52. > :14:01.gentleman in front of the lamp with the bid. The Daily Express. You talk

:14:02. > :14:07.about reigniting the spirit of the British people. Do you believe the

:14:08. > :14:13.European Union snuffed it out? I believe there's a real opportunity

:14:14. > :14:15.for us now, coming together as the United Kingdom, grasping the

:14:16. > :14:23.opportunities available to us coming out of the European Union. We need

:14:24. > :14:29.to encourage investment here, Seymour jobs come here and ensure

:14:30. > :14:36.there is opportunity for everybody. As I said, it's about ensuring that

:14:37. > :14:40.people know that it's not where it comes from that is then and their

:14:41. > :14:51.hard work that will get them on in life.

:14:52. > :14:57.Prime Minister, you said you wouldn't make policy up on the hoof

:14:58. > :15:02.but isn't that what you did last night in the desperate attempt to

:15:03. > :15:06.show voters you are tough on terror. You had your ups and downs. What

:15:07. > :15:18.have you learnt about yourself from this campaign? I will say what I've

:15:19. > :15:25.always known about my -- myself. I like to get out and about. What I'm

:15:26. > :15:31.doing is setting out to people that as we've seen that higher tempo that

:15:32. > :15:35.steps that we will take. But many of these are not things that have

:15:36. > :15:41.suddenly come onto the page book. I've been talking about some of

:15:42. > :15:55.these issues before. I've talked about deporting foreign suspects. I

:15:56. > :16:03.have deported some hate preachers out of the country.

:16:04. > :16:12.APPLAUSE You appeared at a lot of events but

:16:13. > :16:16.Corbyn is attracting thousands of people to rallies. Does that worry

:16:17. > :16:19.you at all? I been into workplaces and talk to people in their

:16:20. > :16:26.workplace about the issues that matter to them and taken their

:16:27. > :16:30.questions. And yes, I'm here with activists today but this is the last

:16:31. > :16:40.stages of the campaign and dining carriage in people to get out over

:16:41. > :16:48.the last 36 hours and campaign. -- and I am encouraging people to get

:16:49. > :16:56.out. Can you promise Brenda from Bristol and the nation's beleaguered

:16:57. > :16:58.sketch writers that there will be will not be another general election

:16:59. > :16:58.but the next five years. LAUGHTER

:16:59. > :17:13.APPLAUSE The country needed that stability

:17:14. > :17:17.over the next five years. On the question of a referendum, we

:17:18. > :17:22.are the one party who is going to deliver on the will of the British

:17:23. > :17:25.people, respect their will and make sure we go through with Brexit,

:17:26. > :17:36.unlike other parties. APPLAUSE
