0:00:44 > 0:00:46was to stop socialism spreading in the first place.
0:00:46 > 0:00:49And the laws are made in the Council of Ministers,
0:00:49 > 0:00:52not in the European Parliament, and they're made in secret
0:00:52 > 0:00:54by a bureaucratic group of commissioners,
0:00:54 > 0:00:56not one of whom is elected,
0:00:56 > 0:00:59none of whom we can get rid of and who don't have to listen to us.
0:00:59 > 0:01:03A bureaucratic nightmare committed to neoliberalism.
0:01:03 > 0:01:06No wonder Bob Crow and Tony Benn supported No2EU.
0:01:07 > 0:01:11We campaign for an exit from the EU but unlike UKIP,
0:01:11 > 0:01:14we support policies for the millions,
0:01:14 > 0:01:15not the millionaires.
0:01:17 > 0:01:20UKIP wants to abolish health and safety laws,
0:01:20 > 0:01:23No2EU wants them strengthened.
0:01:23 > 0:01:27UKIP wants to protect the city bankers from regulation,
0:01:27 > 0:01:30No2EU would take the banks into public ownership
0:01:30 > 0:01:32and tax the speculators.
0:01:32 > 0:01:36UKIP wants to privatise our NHS,
0:01:36 > 0:01:38No2EU wants to protect it.
0:01:39 > 0:01:43And where UKIP peddles fear and division between workers,
0:01:43 > 0:01:45No2EU stands for equal rights for all.
0:01:51 > 0:01:52Behind all the Eurobabble,
0:01:52 > 0:01:56the EU enforces the interests of big business.
0:01:57 > 0:01:59The troika -
0:01:59 > 0:02:02the EU Commission, the European Central Bank
0:02:02 > 0:02:04and the International Monetary Fund -
0:02:04 > 0:02:08have bailed out the banks on a massive scale.
0:02:08 > 0:02:11And it's ordinary people who are paying the price.
0:02:11 > 0:02:16From Ireland and Portugal across to Cyprus,
0:02:16 > 0:02:19millions of workers have been thrown out of their jobs.
0:02:19 > 0:02:23Public services shut down or privatised
0:02:23 > 0:02:27and wages, benefits and pensions slashed.
0:02:28 > 0:02:31Elected governments that stood in the way
0:02:31 > 0:02:35of EU slash and burn policies, as in Greece and Italy,
0:02:35 > 0:02:39were replaced with unelected so-called technocrats.
0:02:39 > 0:02:44The harsh reality is that EU domination means five things.
0:02:44 > 0:02:48First, member countries lose the right to govern themselves.
0:02:48 > 0:02:51Our elected parliaments, assemblies and councils
0:02:51 > 0:02:55are increasingly restricted by EU law.
0:02:55 > 0:03:00Second, European Court judgments allow multinational companies
0:03:00 > 0:03:04to undermine hard-won standards of pay and conditions.
0:03:04 > 0:03:09Third, the EU is dismantling our welfare state and public services,
0:03:09 > 0:03:14opening them up to European and American corporations.
0:03:14 > 0:03:19Fourth, the EU has created an enormous pool of migrant workers,
0:03:19 > 0:03:23driven from job to job and from country to country.
0:03:23 > 0:03:29No2EU's answer is not to attack super-exploited workers,
0:03:29 > 0:03:33it's to invest in the communities where people live and want to stay
0:03:33 > 0:03:36and to protect labour standards for everybody
0:03:36 > 0:03:39against greedy and ruthless employers.
0:03:39 > 0:03:43Finally, the EU is developing its own army to,
0:03:43 > 0:03:46in the words of former Commission President Jacques Delors,
0:03:46 > 0:03:50fight the resource wars of the 21st century.
0:03:50 > 0:03:52Today's unelected EU president Barroso
0:03:52 > 0:03:55refers to the Union as an empire.
0:03:55 > 0:03:58The empire's common foreign policy means that we are embroiled
0:03:58 > 0:04:01in one deadly fiasco after another.
0:04:01 > 0:04:04From Libya to Syria and now the Ukraine.
0:04:04 > 0:04:07No2EU opposes EU and NATO interference
0:04:07 > 0:04:09in the affairs of other countries.
0:04:09 > 0:04:12And we certainly don't want to be shackled to the fascist forces
0:04:12 > 0:04:14now re-emerging in Europe.
0:04:14 > 0:04:17They thrive on the unemployment and despair
0:04:17 > 0:04:19created by austerity policies.
0:04:19 > 0:04:23We stand instead for democratic sovereignty,
0:04:23 > 0:04:26for freedom for the peoples of Scotland, Wales and England
0:04:26 > 0:04:28to decide their own policies,
0:04:28 > 0:04:32including trade links with other countries around the world.
0:04:32 > 0:04:35Our candidates include professors and factory workers,
0:04:35 > 0:04:38nurses and civil servants,
0:04:38 > 0:04:40carers and transport staff.
