1:10:44 > 1:10:46There have never been so many people in work -

1:10:46 > 1:10:48that's what the Government keeps telling us.

1:10:48 > 1:10:52But what's the reality of this Tory jobs bonanza?

1:10:53 > 1:10:57Well, if you're one of the millions of people working on

1:10:57 > 1:11:02a contract without fixed hours or days, then it's not so good.

1:11:02 > 1:11:05Nor is it so great if you're one of the millions

1:11:05 > 1:11:06who are barely surviving.

1:11:06 > 1:11:09Mark and his wife are among those who relied on

1:11:09 > 1:11:12tax credits to make ends meet.

1:11:12 > 1:11:15And then the Conservatives started hacking away at them.

1:11:15 > 1:11:19I'm a delivery driver. I do 35 hours a week for £8 an hour.

1:11:19 > 1:11:22My wife gets £9 an hour for an 18-hour week.

1:11:22 > 1:11:25Between us, we make around £20,000 a year,

1:11:25 > 1:11:30but now the Tories have cut my tax credits by nearly 4,000,

1:11:30 > 1:11:32it's impossible to make ends meet.

1:11:32 > 1:11:35It's not even worth me doing any overtime, because that would

1:11:35 > 1:11:39reduce my tax credits even more, so I'd be worse off.

1:11:39 > 1:11:41It feels like I'm just existing, not living.

1:11:41 > 1:11:44My wife and I, we hardly see each other.

1:11:44 > 1:11:46When I come home from work, she's out working.

1:11:46 > 1:11:50Don't see my kids either. We haven't had a holiday in years.

1:11:50 > 1:11:53I'm not asking for much, just a proper living wage.

1:11:53 > 1:11:56It doesn't need to be like this.

1:11:56 > 1:12:01Labour will introduce a real living wage of no less than £10 per hour,

1:12:01 > 1:12:05and Labour will invest £500 billion to create good quality jobs

1:12:05 > 1:12:08in all parts of the country,

1:12:08 > 1:12:11guaranteeing a decent job for everyone.

1:12:11 > 1:12:15Sue has been a health care assistant for 12 years.

1:12:15 > 1:12:17Since her last employer closed down,

1:12:17 > 1:12:21she has had to take on a zero hours contract to remain in work.

1:12:21 > 1:12:23With two children at school,

1:12:23 > 1:12:26she feels it's destroying her family life.

1:12:26 > 1:12:29It's impossible to budget or plan anything.

1:12:29 > 1:12:31I might have a school event or I've promised to do something with

1:12:31 > 1:12:35my kids, and then someone calls in sick and I have to cancel.

1:12:37 > 1:12:38I can't say no to those hours,

1:12:38 > 1:12:40as I don't know when I'll be offered any more.

1:12:40 > 1:12:42The kids get so disappointed,

1:12:42 > 1:12:45they don't understand why I'm letting them down.

1:12:45 > 1:12:47It's not living, I'm always on call.

1:12:47 > 1:12:51My personal life suffers and I have absolutely no security.

1:12:51 > 1:12:52It's horrible.

1:12:52 > 1:12:56Is it too much to expect that in 2017,

1:12:56 > 1:12:58Mark and Sue and the millions like them,

1:12:58 > 1:13:01decent people doing decent jobs,

1:13:01 > 1:13:05deserve decent pay and decent working conditions?

1:13:05 > 1:13:07Labour believes that they do.

1:13:07 > 1:13:11Labour will put an end to job contracts that exploit people,

1:13:11 > 1:13:15and Labour will give everyone stronger employment rights

1:13:15 > 1:13:18from day one in a job,

1:13:18 > 1:13:20because Labour will stand up for you.
