0:00:07 > 0:00:11For over a century, heavy industry, and in particular steel,
0:00:11 > 0:00:14has been the backbone of the South Wales economy.
0:00:14 > 0:00:18And yet we see the tragedy unfolding of thousands of people
0:00:18 > 0:00:20losing their jobs in the steel industry,
0:00:20 > 0:00:22and we have the Welsh First Minister
0:00:22 > 0:00:25and the British Prime Minister completely impotent.
0:00:38 > 0:00:40Whilst devolution was a good idea,
0:00:40 > 0:00:44moving powers from the centre down to Cardiff,
0:00:44 > 0:00:47actually, not all the effects have been very good.
0:01:08 > 0:01:11It was our membership of the European Union
0:01:11 > 0:01:12that gave us expensive energy
0:01:12 > 0:01:15at the very same time the Americans went for shale gas
0:01:15 > 0:01:17and the Indians went for coal.
0:01:41 > 0:01:42Where have been the voices
0:01:42 > 0:01:46standing up and saying, "This is not good enough"?
0:02:11 > 0:02:15And now, with the Chinese dumping steel on the world's market,
0:02:15 > 0:02:18so desperate are they to get foreign exchange,
0:02:18 > 0:02:21there is nothing, literally nothing, we can do.
0:02:50 > 0:02:54Enough's enough. We don't want Chinese steel dumped upon us.
0:02:54 > 0:02:57We want to give the South Wales steel industry a chance to live
0:02:57 > 0:02:59and to breathe, and nobody,
0:02:59 > 0:03:02nobody in Cardiff's standing up and saying,
0:03:02 > 0:03:05"Actually, we should do something about this.
0:03:05 > 0:03:08"We should stand up and fight for Welsh jobs."
0:03:18 > 0:03:22For democracy to work, you've got to have a voice of opposition.
0:03:22 > 0:03:25One of the problems with Cardiff is that too many of the politicians,
0:03:25 > 0:03:28whilst they may purport to come from different parties,
0:03:28 > 0:03:31actually have the same worldview.
0:03:31 > 0:03:36Put Ukip into the Welsh Assembly and let's shake the thing up.
