0:00:02 > 0:00:03I suppose you could say I'm lucky.
0:00:03 > 0:00:04I've lived my whole life here in Wales
0:00:04 > 0:00:06under a Welsh Labour Government.
0:00:07 > 0:00:09Of course, things are not always perfect.
0:00:09 > 0:00:11There are always tough decisions to be made,
0:00:11 > 0:00:14especially with the Tories in London cutting the money Wales gets,
0:00:14 > 0:00:18but I've always felt that the Government here has been on my side.
0:00:18 > 0:00:21They want to do the right thing by the people here.
0:00:21 > 0:00:24But it's not always been like that.
0:00:24 > 0:00:27And although they want you to forget it now, I'll never forgive
0:00:27 > 0:00:29the Tories for what they've done
0:00:29 > 0:00:31to my family, friends and my community.
0:00:32 > 0:00:35You know, it makes my blood boil, watching the Tories on TV,
0:00:35 > 0:00:38glossing over the terrible things they've done to Wales.
0:00:41 > 0:00:43Back in the '80s, they pushed communities like mine
0:00:43 > 0:00:46over the edge, put thousands on the dole
0:00:46 > 0:00:49and said it was a price worth paying.
0:00:49 > 0:00:52Well, we can't let them do the same thing again.
0:00:52 > 0:00:55And in this election, a vote for anyone but Welsh Labour
0:00:55 > 0:00:58helps the Tories win. It's that simple.
0:00:58 > 0:01:01We used to vote Plaid Cymru and even campaigned for them,
0:01:01 > 0:01:03but not any more.
0:01:03 > 0:01:05They claim to hate the Tories, but Plaid Cymru
0:01:05 > 0:01:08has already tried to put them into government here in Wales.
0:01:08 > 0:01:12Our country can't afford another five years of UK Tory Government.
0:01:12 > 0:01:14They ran our country and our communities into the ground
0:01:14 > 0:01:16the last time they were in power.
0:01:20 > 0:01:23Because the very things I love about this country are the things
0:01:23 > 0:01:26that the Tories did their level best to destroy - the community,
0:01:26 > 0:01:30the compassion, the fierce belief in social justice that welcomed me
0:01:30 > 0:01:33when I moved here, and it made me want to give something back
0:01:33 > 0:01:36to the country that had given me so much.
0:01:36 > 0:01:39And that's why I stood to be a Welsh Labour councillor.
0:01:39 > 0:01:43I was proud to be elected on these values, these Welsh Labour values
0:01:43 > 0:01:47that say no matter who you are or where you come from,
0:01:47 > 0:01:51you have a stake in our country and you have a contribution to make.
0:01:51 > 0:01:54The Tories said there's no such thing as society.
0:01:54 > 0:01:58Well, here in Wales, we know that simply isn't true.
0:01:58 > 0:02:00Growing up in the 1980s, I remember all too well
0:02:00 > 0:02:02the Tory onslaught on Wales.
0:02:02 > 0:02:05Now today, I'm proud to serve alongside my Welsh Labour colleagues
0:02:05 > 0:02:07here in our National Assembly,
0:02:07 > 0:02:11where we're once again doing our best to stand up for Wales.
0:02:11 > 0:02:13And despite the UK Conservative Government slashing
0:02:13 > 0:02:15our budget by over £1 billion,
0:02:15 > 0:02:18we're determined to put our Welsh Labour values into practice.
0:02:18 > 0:02:22That means building new schools and transforming our communities,
0:02:22 > 0:02:25while keeping Tory grammar schools out of Wales.
0:02:25 > 0:02:27It means putting millions more into social care,
0:02:27 > 0:02:30to give our pensioners the dignity they deserve, whilst avoiding
0:02:30 > 0:02:33the social care crisis happening under the Tories in England.
0:02:33 > 0:02:35But we're doing all of this under the shadow of
0:02:35 > 0:02:38a ruthless UK Conservative Government.
0:02:38 > 0:02:42With Labour in power in Westminster, we could do so much more.
0:02:42 > 0:02:45And we did - I was proud to serve in a Labour Government
0:02:45 > 0:02:47that delivered for Wales.
0:02:47 > 0:02:50It delivered devolution, it delivered record numbers of police
0:02:50 > 0:02:54on our streets and record levels of funding for the people of Wales.
0:02:54 > 0:02:58That Labour Government delivered the National Minimum Wage,
0:02:58 > 0:03:00increased protection for workers,
0:03:00 > 0:03:03the New Deal for the unemployed, pension credits,
0:03:03 > 0:03:06invested in our manufacturing industries,
0:03:06 > 0:03:12outlawed fox hunting, signed the Kyoto Protocol on climate change
0:03:12 > 0:03:15and helped deliver lasting peace in Northern Ireland.
0:03:15 > 0:03:18This is what you can achieve in power.
0:03:18 > 0:03:23This is why we need a strong team of Welsh Labour MPs back in Parliament,
0:03:23 > 0:03:28fighting for their communities and delivering for Wales.
0:03:28 > 0:03:32And in recent weeks, I've been out campaigning and meeting people
0:03:32 > 0:03:35the length and breadth of Wales.
0:03:35 > 0:03:38I've seen the difference Welsh Labour are making in government,
0:03:38 > 0:03:42but I've also heard first-hand just what the risks are
0:03:42 > 0:03:44if the Tories get back in.
0:03:44 > 0:03:46And I just won't let that happen - I got into politics
0:03:46 > 0:03:50through my anger at what the Tories did to our country a generation ago.
0:03:50 > 0:03:52We got we were done with that kind of politics,
0:03:52 > 0:03:55done with the neglect of our public services
0:03:55 > 0:03:59that meant record waiting lists at hospitals and crumbling schools,
0:03:59 > 0:04:02done with gutting whole industries like mining and steel
0:04:02 > 0:04:04and leaving communities without hope.
0:04:04 > 0:04:08And make no mistake, that bleak threat still continues to haunt us.
0:04:08 > 0:04:11We simply can't afford five more years of Tory cuts,
0:04:11 > 0:04:13indifference and cruelty.
0:04:13 > 0:04:15Welsh Labour is delivering -
0:04:15 > 0:04:18delivering the best GCSE results, a living wage in the NHS,
0:04:18 > 0:04:20record employment,
0:04:20 > 0:04:24but all this is at risk if the Tories trample all over Wales again.
0:04:24 > 0:04:27So, we need your support, more now than ever,
0:04:27 > 0:04:32to fight the Tory cuts and together, to stand up for Wales.
