0:00:02 > 0:00:05I go round the country and talk to people

0:00:05 > 0:00:08and so many people say life's an incredible struggle at the moment

0:00:08 > 0:00:11and even if it's not a struggle now,

0:00:11 > 0:00:13they feel uncertain about the future.

0:00:13 > 0:00:15They feel, "What kind of future am I going to have?"

0:00:15 > 0:00:17"What kind of future is my family going to have?"

0:00:17 > 0:00:20People have lost that sense of confidence that there is going to

0:00:20 > 0:00:22be a future that is better than the past,

0:00:22 > 0:00:25that their kids are going to do better than them.

0:00:25 > 0:00:29I think that now there is a sense of we've been through the pain,

0:00:29 > 0:00:30we've made the sacrifices.

0:00:30 > 0:00:33Where is the vision for the country? Where is this country going?

0:00:33 > 0:00:35It's time we had a plan

0:00:35 > 0:00:38and that's what my plan for Britain's future is about.

0:00:43 > 0:00:44The starting point for me

0:00:44 > 0:00:49is that working people should share in the growing wealth of the country,

0:00:49 > 0:00:52and that's why we're setting a clear objective to reduce poverty for

0:00:52 > 0:00:57those in work so, over five years, we'll get to a minimum wage over £8.

0:00:57 > 0:01:00That will benefit families.

0:01:00 > 0:01:02It will send a message that hard work is going to be rewarded

0:01:02 > 0:01:06again in our country, so that's a starting point for what we can do.

0:01:11 > 0:01:13We can only succeed as a country

0:01:13 > 0:01:15if we use the talents of all our young people

0:01:15 > 0:01:19and for far too long, governments of both parties have spent a lot

0:01:19 > 0:01:22of time worrying about those going to university, and that's fine,

0:01:22 > 0:01:24but if I was a 14-year-old today

0:01:24 > 0:01:27and I wasn't going down the academic route,

0:01:27 > 0:01:29I think I would have no idea what qualifications

0:01:29 > 0:01:30I was supposed to be doing,

0:01:30 > 0:01:33what future I should be looking forward to.

0:01:33 > 0:01:35And what it means is that my government will be saying,

0:01:35 > 0:01:40at every opportunity, we'll be making sure apprenticeships actually happen.

0:01:42 > 0:01:44If you want a major government contract,

0:01:44 > 0:01:46you must provide apprenticeships.

0:01:46 > 0:01:48If you bring in workers from outside the European Union,

0:01:48 > 0:01:51you must provide apprenticeships to the next generation.

0:01:51 > 0:01:54Now that is a big and dramatic change for our country

0:01:54 > 0:01:57and it's going to require everyone to step up.

0:02:02 > 0:02:05People often think about the environment as being

0:02:05 > 0:02:07about safeguarding the planet for future generations.

0:02:07 > 0:02:10I really care about that but it's not just about that.

0:02:10 > 0:02:14It's about what jobs are our sons and daughters going to be doing?

0:02:16 > 0:02:18We've got to create the jobs of the future in this country

0:02:18 > 0:02:21and we're setting a very clear ten-year goal to create

0:02:21 > 0:02:23a million new jobs in the environmental

0:02:23 > 0:02:27technologies of the future and make Britain a world leader.

0:02:35 > 0:02:38I think we can actually say there is a plan for the future.

0:02:38 > 0:02:41We are a country that's going somewhere, that knows where it's going,

0:02:41 > 0:02:43and not the country which increasingly works

0:02:43 > 0:02:45just for the richest in our society.

0:02:45 > 0:02:47A different way is possible.

0:02:47 > 0:02:50It is possible to build a country that does work for all

0:02:50 > 0:02:51and not just for some.

0:02:51 > 0:02:53The Tories have this idea that,

0:02:53 > 0:02:56as long the richest few people are doing OK,

0:02:56 > 0:02:58everyone else will somehow magically benefit from it

0:02:58 > 0:03:01and that's not the way I think a country succeeds.

0:03:01 > 0:03:04My view of success for a country is everybody playing their part

0:03:04 > 0:03:08from top to bottom in society and it is about, in the end, who counts.

0:03:08 > 0:03:10Is it just a few that count

0:03:10 > 0:03:14or is it everyday working people that really count?

0:03:14 > 0:03:16Is that the way you judge the success of Britain?

0:03:16 > 0:03:19This election is going to come down to that question.

0:03:19 > 0:03:21Do you want a Prime Minister, David Cameron,

0:03:21 > 0:03:23who's got a different idea about how a country succeeds?

0:03:23 > 0:03:27Or do you want a Prime Minister who's thinking about you and your family?

0:03:27 > 0:03:29And THAT is the election choice.
