0:00:20 > 0:00:23laws made for the people of Wales by the people of Wales.
0:00:23 > 0:00:25In May, you, the people of Wales,
0:00:25 > 0:00:28also voted in the National Assembly elections,
0:00:28 > 0:00:31and as a result, I now lead a Welsh Labour government.
0:00:31 > 0:00:34A government which is determined to be standing up for Wales
0:00:34 > 0:00:35in these difficult times.
0:00:35 > 0:00:39So I want to thank you for the confidence that you've expressed
0:00:39 > 0:00:41in Wales and in Welsh Labour.
0:00:43 > 0:00:46However, there remain big challenges facing us all,
0:00:46 > 0:00:48challenges made worse by these savage cuts
0:00:48 > 0:00:50being imposed on Wales by the Conservatives.
0:00:50 > 0:00:55We know the Tory cuts are hurting, but we also know they're not working.
0:00:55 > 0:00:59They're not working for families and communities across Wales,
0:00:59 > 0:01:02ordinary people who want jobs, to see growth in our economy
0:01:02 > 0:01:05and police on our streets to keep them safe.
0:01:05 > 0:01:08And that's why I'm determined that the government I lead
0:01:08 > 0:01:10will play its part in helping businesses and workers
0:01:10 > 0:01:15by creating the right conditions to help companies start and flourish.
0:01:15 > 0:01:17That's why the government I lead
0:01:17 > 0:01:19will make sure Welsh workers are equipped
0:01:19 > 0:01:22with the right skills for the future.
0:01:22 > 0:01:23Unlike the Tories,
0:01:23 > 0:01:26Welsh Labour will always put fairness at the heart of our actions.

0:01:41 > 0:01:43that quality of care must come first.
0:01:43 > 0:01:46In Wales, I make this promise -
0:01:46 > 0:01:52the NHS was made in Wales and it will be safe in Wales with Labour.
0:01:52 > 0:01:56On education, we will take action to improve performance in our schools
0:01:56 > 0:01:59and ensure our children have the best start in life.

0:02:01 > 0:02:03that Labour is on their side.
0:02:04 > 0:02:07I know how crucial it is that my government delivers

0:02:09 > 0:02:13to strive for the changes in health and education we all wish to see,
0:02:13 > 0:02:16to focus on jobs and growth in the Welsh economy,
0:02:16 > 0:02:20to equip our youngsters with the skills for the future,
0:02:20 > 0:02:24to provide more and better-quality homes in Wales.
0:02:24 > 0:02:26So I pledge that in the year ahead,
0:02:26 > 0:02:28we'll focus on delivering on those promises
0:02:28 > 0:02:32with energy and determination to make Wales a better place.
