:02:18. > :02:40.One of the best coaches in the world.

:02:41. > :02:45.It has been good. We spent quite a lot of time here.

:02:46. > :02:47.Last year, nearly six months leading into the

:02:48. > :02:52.I will keep going as long as I keep going.

:02:53. > :02:57.If he gets in, we are going to get married.

:02:58. > :03:00.This sounds like a part I should not be involved with.

:03:01. > :03:07.As a result of his incredible achievements on

:03:08. > :03:13.the track, Mo Farah has become a global star.

:03:14. > :03:15.The pursuit of this dominance means his training also

:03:16. > :03:32.One of the reasons we spend a lot of time here is because

:03:33. > :03:35.the elevation. Good facilities.

:03:36. > :03:40.This is what people need in terms of high altitude.

:03:41. > :03:42.Back in the days, the Kenyans and Ethiopians beating

:03:43. > :03:46.One of the reasons was because they spend so much time at

:03:47. > :03:49.When they come back to sea level, things are easier.

:03:50. > :03:54.Spending six months of the year away from my family, not being able to

:03:55. > :03:56.see my family, racing, training camps.

:03:57. > :03:59.It is difficult, but if you want to be a champion, stay on top,

:04:00. > :04:05.Eat, sleep, train - nothing more to it.

:04:06. > :04:08.For Jessica Ennis-Hill, the best place

:04:09. > :04:11.to be has always been at home in Sheffield

:04:12. > :04:19.Her journey since Super Saturday has been nothing short of eventful.

:04:20. > :04:21.This is Sheffield, your hometown? Yes.

:04:22. > :04:24.Born here, studied here, did all my training here.

:04:25. > :04:27.When you were a kid growing up here, did you ever think

:04:28. > :04:39.When I started athletics, learning about championships and the

:04:40. > :04:41.Olympics, I always had that dream of wanting to be there.

:04:42. > :04:47.I never imagined that I would have had the journey that

:04:48. > :04:51.Sat here in this position, chatting to you.

:04:52. > :04:54.With lots of gold medals and an Olympic gold

:04:55. > :05:04.Going into 2012, you became the face of the Games.

:05:05. > :05:07.Talk about how that affected you in the year leading up to

:05:08. > :05:12.The fact that it was in London, it brought a lot more

:05:13. > :05:19.I think for me the most important thing at

:05:20. > :05:22.that time was did not change anything - I stayed where I trained

:05:23. > :05:36.That kept me really grounded, really sane in what I was doing.

:05:37. > :05:39.I do think, gosh, that was a hell of a

:05:40. > :05:42.I thought, honestly, can this all come together

:05:43. > :05:45.Jess' quest for heptathlon gold began on Friday, 3rd

:05:46. > :05:54.It will conclude with the 800m final underneath the

:05:55. > :05:56.spotlight of the packed Olympic Stadium.

:05:57. > :06:03.The stadium was incredible, the bars, fans, British flags.

:06:04. > :06:06.Having an Olympics in your hometown is once in a lifetime.

:06:07. > :06:08.As soon as you walk into the stadium, you get goose

:06:09. > :06:12.It was just like nothing I had ever experienced.

:06:13. > :06:16.Everybody in there wanted you to do well.

:06:17. > :06:18.And was excited about the prospect of doing well.

:06:19. > :06:21.They had no idea who I was, they just saw a British jersey.

:06:22. > :06:23.That morning, I was about five o'clock.

:06:24. > :06:25.The night before, I could not switch off.

:06:26. > :06:27.I was telling myself there is so much more to do,

:06:28. > :06:32.I couldn't help thinking, I am so close.

:06:33. > :06:36.I remember waiting and nerves building.

:06:37. > :06:43.The way she controlled the pressure she

:06:44. > :06:45.had - everyone already hung a Olympic gold-medal

:06:46. > :06:49.We know how much can go wrong in athletics.

:06:50. > :06:51.She dealt with that pressure incredibly well.

:06:52. > :06:53.Crossing the line was one of the most amazing

:06:54. > :06:57.When she crossed the line, arms aloft, the feeling of pride and felt

:06:58. > :07:05.Then, it has switched to myself and my thought process of, I want to

:07:06. > :07:08.I want to have the crowd going mad for me.

:07:09. > :07:19.It ended up being the next jump was the longest

:07:20. > :07:22.I went from the 3rd of August, nobody having any

:07:23. > :07:25.idea who I was, to the 4th of August,

:07:26. > :07:26.becoming Olympic champion on

:07:27. > :07:38.a night which was truly spectacular for British sport.

:07:39. > :07:41.To be sandwiched between Jess and Mo is very special for me.

:07:42. > :07:43.Going into the race, I knew if I could go

:07:44. > :07:47.with one lap to go in the position I was, I should hopefully do well.

:07:48. > :07:49.I normally start at the back and work

:07:50. > :07:52.As I was working my way through, getting louder and louder.

:07:53. > :07:55.And I was thinking, concentrate, and the last lap, the

:07:56. > :08:01.Watching Mo Farah standing under the Olympic flame.

:08:02. > :08:04.He was cheering on the side of the track.

:08:05. > :08:15.I saw Rhianna coming on the track. I got emotional, lifted her.

:08:16. > :08:23.That moment was beautiful as a family.

:08:24. > :08:25.The 45 minutes with Jess, Greg and then me.

:08:26. > :08:31.After London, describe the change in your life.

:08:32. > :08:38.You have people wanting you to appear at this, talk

:08:39. > :08:52.If you look back to Super Saturday, Jess, Mo, all three

:08:53. > :08:58.Did you ever look at them or reach out to one

:08:59. > :09:03.gone for you because I am having a hard time with this?

:09:04. > :09:06.For me, probably because I always saw Jess

:09:07. > :09:11.I get on really well with both of them.

:09:12. > :09:23.Probably never quite them, if that make sense.

:09:24. > :09:26.They are two of the greatest in British history and I

:09:27. > :09:28.have never been able to put myself with them.

:09:29. > :09:30.The 2013 World Championships offered Greg the

:09:31. > :09:33.chance to prove that his London gold was more than just a one off.

:09:34. > :09:36.In Moscow, he went out of the competition in the early stages.

:09:37. > :09:43.I should not have gone to the World Championships.

:09:44. > :09:45.I had a ruptured hamstring, could not run fast.

:09:46. > :09:52.I hoped and believed I could do something.

:09:53. > :09:54.Possibly you had to prove people wrong.

:09:55. > :10:01.I ignored the fact that I was in no shape to do so.

:10:02. > :10:06.Mo Farah's London Olympics did not end

:10:07. > :10:13.Immediately after becoming the 10,000 champ, his

:10:14. > :10:18.attention turned to his pursuit of the 5000 metres gold.

:10:19. > :10:22.I wanted to come out and try to win the 5K.

:10:23. > :10:25.At that point, I was recovering from the 10K.

:10:26. > :10:26.Resting up, getting ready. Not get distracted.

:10:27. > :10:29.Then I ran the heat three days later and

:10:30. > :10:37.Moving too much. I can't be doing what I am doing.

:10:38. > :10:41.I need to focus was at it, I thought, oh, I did it again.

:10:42. > :10:48.A year on from Super Saturday, the 2013 World

:10:49. > :10:51.Championships would be a opportunity for Mo Farah to continue his global

:10:52. > :10:56.If he could add to the world 10,000 meter

:10:57. > :10:58.and 5000 metres title to his Olympic golds, it would be

:10:59. > :11:05.I had the hunger, the drive. Great memories from London 2012.

:11:06. > :11:08.For me, I didn't want people to think it was a fluke.

:11:09. > :11:21.When you win championships, it gives you a boost,

:11:22. > :11:22.confidence. Feel like you can do it.

:11:23. > :11:25.Which sometimes gets difficult because most people know what you

:11:26. > :11:34.I feel like I have been in this situation before.

:11:35. > :11:37.Going into Beijing, I was in great shape.

:11:38. > :11:42.It was just about thinking, dealing with it the same as Moscow.

:11:43. > :11:46.Going into the heat in the 5000 metres, I slightly twitched my

:11:47. > :12:01.I had to smoothly stride it up and come away

:12:02. > :12:08.This is where it all goes down, used to go down?

:12:09. > :12:11.This is where I would come every day, pretty much,

:12:12. > :12:20.So when Reggie comes he is like Mummy.

:12:21. > :12:30.I started when I was ten, a little older.

:12:31. > :12:33.These are some of the girls who train with Toni now.

:12:34. > :13:07.Toni Minichiello has worked as Jess' coach throughout his whole career.

:13:08. > :13:11.Guiding her progress from promising schoolkids sprinted to multi event

:13:12. > :13:19.Her first, Reggie, was born two years after Super Saturday.

:13:20. > :13:24.Having won gold in London and facing the prospect

:13:25. > :13:25.of becoming a parent for

:13:26. > :13:28.the first time, many would have decided to call it a day.

:13:29. > :13:30.Having a son, having to balance life more,

:13:31. > :13:37.I had all those emotions of not wanting to

:13:38. > :13:41.leave my son and going back into training and not being at the same

:13:42. > :13:46.I think in my mind I felt like I was going to step

:13:47. > :13:50.back in and it might take a few weeks to get back to where I was but

:13:51. > :13:54.Actually, when I got back into training, I was tired, upset.

:13:55. > :13:56.It was one of the most challenging things I

:13:57. > :14:01.But in my mind, you want to do it, you want to get back

:14:02. > :14:07.Why get back out there, you have a beautiful son?

:14:08. > :14:15.My huge motivator was Reggie because,

:14:16. > :14:19.you know, I wanted him to be a part of that last unique journey I had

:14:20. > :14:33.I want him to look back and see what I had achieved, and achieved it

:14:34. > :14:36.The Beijing World Championships took place one year

:14:37. > :14:38.after the birth of Jess' son, Reggie.

:14:39. > :14:41.No heptathlete had ever come back from childbirth to win a

:14:42. > :14:48.I knew I was in a much better position than a few

:14:49. > :14:52.months ago but still knew I was not where I was a couple of years ago.

:14:53. > :14:54.Her presence, the fact she made the decision and turned up,

:14:55. > :15:01.regardless of the shape she had been in,

:15:02. > :15:04.applies pressure to the other athletes because they are going,

:15:05. > :15:05.that is Jess. She has turned up.

:15:06. > :15:10.I just kept thinking, don't make any major mistakes.

:15:11. > :15:17.Let the other girls make mistakes around you.

:15:18. > :15:18.Just be solid, not amazing, spectacular,

:15:19. > :15:26.If I can keep doing that throughout the events, maybe I could

:15:27. > :15:30.be in with a chance of medalling and it became a gold medal.

:15:31. > :15:32.For it also come together and to win that

:15:33. > :15:37.was definitely one of my proudest moments.

:15:38. > :15:40.Injury has denied Greg Rutherford a chance of the 2013

:15:41. > :15:47.He recovered for the 2014 season and finished the year as

:15:48. > :15:56.Winning two majors made me realise, yeah, you can still do it.

:15:57. > :16:00.My focus became, let us gets a world title.

:16:01. > :16:03.I thought it was my competition to lose, even though there were

:16:04. > :16:11.I still believed on the day I would win it,

:16:12. > :16:17.and that I think is what got me through to do what I did.

:16:18. > :16:19.My motivation has always been winning.

:16:20. > :16:22.That stems from being a kid, often people told me

:16:23. > :16:32.My entire athletic career has basically

:16:33. > :16:34.been belligerently winning to prove everybody else that's doubted that

:16:35. > :16:42.At the Rio Olympics, Jess, Mo and Greg all once again compete

:16:43. > :16:46.together on the same night and

:16:47. > :16:49.Britain could not help but hope for another Super Saturday.

:16:50. > :16:52.But from experience, I know how hard it is to

:16:53. > :16:55.retain an Olympic title and perhaps toughest of all is being in perfect

:16:56. > :17:01.The unique challenges of the long jump

:17:02. > :17:09.meant that once again Greg was unlucky with injury.

:17:10. > :17:11.He got a really bad landing in some bad sand.

:17:12. > :17:21.Lost hearing. Vertigo.

:17:22. > :17:26.Against the clock, making progress, but we ran out of time.

:17:27. > :17:32.I had this moment where we were saying, what are you going to do?

:17:33. > :17:40.Probably about two thirds of the way through

:17:41. > :17:44.All of a sudden felt the sharp pain in my groin again.

:17:45. > :17:46.In that moment, I realised my opportunity of winning

:17:47. > :17:50.Just because I was in a position I had

:17:51. > :17:59.I had to muster every ounce of energy and is pretty much begged my

:18:00. > :18:07.I managed to somehow pull out eight .29 in round six I don't want to

:18:08. > :18:09.make any excuses for finishing third.

:18:10. > :18:21.the guys who beat me were better than me on the day. Jess and her

:18:22. > :18:26.team hoped she could continue to build on her unexpected World

:18:27. > :18:29.Championship gold. But with seven events to competing, defending her

:18:30. > :18:35.Olympic title would depend on training as effectively as possible.

:18:36. > :18:41.That year was so up and down. I kept picking up Achilles injuries to stop

:18:42. > :18:49.my left Achilles, problems with that. Weeks off training. And the

:18:50. > :18:52.other Achilles would stud herding. Despite her various setbacks, she

:18:53. > :18:58.found form just in time to travel to Rio. The challenge ahead of her was

:18:59. > :19:04.significant. No British woman had ever retained an Olympic track and

:19:05. > :19:08.field title. After 2015, I knew the year after the Olympic year everyone

:19:09. > :19:14.raises the game. I was getting older, having injuries. There were

:19:15. > :19:25.young athletes coming through and performing well. You look at her

:19:26. > :19:31.rivals, accumulating points. Jess last points in the shot and the long

:19:32. > :19:38.jump. Knew it would be difficult. She ran her heart out. The smallest

:19:39. > :19:45.winning margin in modern heptathlon history, 35 or 36. People asked if I

:19:46. > :19:50.was disappointed, but there was just a feeling, I have got here through

:19:51. > :19:54.the year I have had and the challenges I have had. I knew that I

:19:55. > :19:59.had done what I set out to achieve in my career and I was happy,

:20:00. > :20:07.content. I was going to walk away and feel disappointed -- not going

:20:08. > :20:15.to walk away, thinking I wished I had pushed on longer. Their careers

:20:16. > :20:24.remind us that it is no small thing to do this. It's demand everything

:20:25. > :20:30.you have to give. Mo Farah's ambition in the Rio would be to

:20:31. > :20:33.defend an Olympic double in gruelling long-distance events,

:20:34. > :20:42.which had only been achieved by one athlete in history. I felt tired.

:20:43. > :20:50.But four years of solid training, so no setbacks where I was missing one

:20:51. > :20:55.or two months. All pretty good. Mo Farah became the first ever British

:20:56. > :20:59.track and field athlete to win three Olympic gold medals. His attention

:21:00. > :21:04.now turns to the 5000 metres. I don't think he thought anything

:21:05. > :21:06.different than, I will win the 10,000 pounds then the 5000. Only

:21:07. > :21:20.ever one result. Five years after Super Saturday, the

:21:21. > :21:25.greatest night of British athletics, the best athletes in the world will

:21:26. > :21:29.return to London. I had a very major competition, as an athlete you want

:21:30. > :21:33.to feel prepared, ready to compete. With just a few weeks to go before

:21:34. > :21:38.the championships start, Greg is faced with one of the toughest

:21:39. > :21:47.decisions of his career. I have not had a season with these kind of

:21:48. > :21:53.injuries since 2007. I tore two ligament in my left ankle. At that

:21:54. > :21:58.point, I realised my World Championships where over. For Jess,

:21:59. > :22:03.a new challenge. Being a spectator. It will be completely different from

:22:04. > :22:09.you. Not only not there as an athlete performing, there as a

:22:10. > :22:12.heavily pregnant spectator. My life could not be more different. I am

:22:13. > :22:17.really looking forward to it. No post I come. London is where it

:22:18. > :22:23.happened, where my life change. When my children were born. I need to do

:22:24. > :22:27.London. I wanted more than any other year and I am excited to be able to

:22:28. > :22:35.complete one must them and hang my spikes up afterwards. The journeys

:22:36. > :22:38.that Jess, Mo Farah and Greg have been on since that unforgettable

:22:39. > :22:44.night in London tell the truth about what it takes to be the best in the

:22:45. > :22:47.world. This London, London 2017, will offer another opportunity for

:22:48. > :22:51.us to appreciate the world's greatest athletes and, in the

:22:52. > :23:00.knowledge that the journey to get there is never straightforward.

:23:01. > :23:03.London, here we come. For more on London 2017, go to the BBC website.
