:01:34. > :01:41.models as well as the old classics. We've got the biggest, the best,

:01:45. > :01:51.down to the Super Bowl spectacular this weekend and join us for the

:01:51. > :01:55.Greatest Show on Earth. You got And the Greatest Show on Earth sees

:01:55. > :02:02.both the New York Giants and the New England Patriots trying to join

:02:02. > :02:06.an elite band of sides who have won four titles. There are stories and

:02:06. > :02:11.sub-plots wherever you look that could make this the mother of all

:02:11. > :02:14.Superbowls, or should that be the brother of all Super Bowls. And

:02:14. > :02:24.there's the most successful female recording artist of all time at

:02:24. > :02:27.

:02:27. > :02:31.Hello and welcome to Super Bowl XLVI here on BBC 1 and BBC 1 HD. It

:02:31. > :02:36.gets under way in just under half an hour's time and we have a lot to

:02:36. > :02:40.pack in before kick-off. Joining us for the 5th BBC Super Bowl, a

:02:40. > :02:45.familiar face to British gridiron fans, Mike Karlsson, and alongside

:02:45. > :02:53.him, a man who had to make the UK something of a second home in the

:02:53. > :03:02.next few seasons, one of the NFL's toughest receivers, Danny and Ndola

:03:02. > :03:06.from the St Louis Rams. You gave that a whack, didn't you? We will

:03:06. > :03:09.talk more about the Rams coming to Wembley throughout the show but

:03:09. > :03:15.you're going to be here for three years, are you looking forward to

:03:15. > :03:19.it? Absolutely, we are excited in St Louis, it has created a buzz

:03:19. > :03:24.around town. Getting the chance to see Wembley the last few days has

:03:24. > :03:31.made it exciting. It has whetted the appetite? Absolutely. Looking

:03:31. > :03:35.at tonight's game... Whetted could be the operative word this weekend.

:03:35. > :03:40.Indeed, I hope the snow will not be here in October. This game is too

:03:40. > :03:43.close to call? It really is, if you wanted to get two teams that were

:03:43. > :03:48.well balanced and their strengths reflected the other team's

:03:48. > :03:51.weaknesses, it would be hard to pick. When you think about the

:03:51. > :03:54.first BBC Superbowl four years ago, that game did not look like it was

:03:54. > :03:59.going to be close but we were saying before the game it was going

:03:59. > :04:05.to be close and that is how it turned out. So this one may not

:04:05. > :04:09.turn out to be like that. Don't say that! I see it being much more of a

:04:09. > :04:12.defensive battle than people think. Danny, we mentioned at the start

:04:12. > :04:18.what it means to these two franchises because they are going

:04:18. > :04:22.to join an elite band? They are two of the best teams in the States.

:04:22. > :04:26.Two great quarterbacks with Eli Manning and Tom Brady. It will be a

:04:26. > :04:32.good game and it will come down to how they play on each side of the

:04:32. > :04:37.ball. Four Super Bowl titles, as we can see, the sides they will join.

:04:37. > :04:40.There are some legendary impressive franchises? Yes. And the

:04:40. > :04:45.interesting thing when you look at that list you see that most of

:04:45. > :04:48.these teams did it in sequence in a couple of years, you build a good

:04:48. > :04:53.team and they have some success. If the Patriots were to win this

:04:53. > :05:01.Superbowl it would be over a period of a decade where they basically

:05:01. > :05:05.rebuilt the team, this is deferred I incarnation. -- this is the third

:05:05. > :05:10.incarnation. An awful lot to pack in in the next half-an-hour. Plenty

:05:10. > :05:13.of ways you can enjoy our coverage of tonight's game. On the red

:05:13. > :05:18.button at the moment we have a beginner's guide to American

:05:18. > :05:25.football until kick-off. Then we have five Live's commentary on

:05:25. > :05:30.there. Live text on the BBC Sport website. And contact us for via

:05:30. > :05:34.Twitter. We will read out as many as we can during the evening. Let

:05:34. > :05:39.us know what you're doing and if you have any questions for Danny or

:05:39. > :05:43.might then they will answer them. The Super Bowl has thrown up many a

:05:43. > :05:47.Hollywood storyline over the years, tonight it is no different, tonight

:05:47. > :05:52.it is all about revenge. Four years ago the Patriots were on the verge

:05:52. > :05:57.of history going for their 4th Super Bowl in seven years. Plus

:05:57. > :06:00.trying to complete a perfect unbeaten season. The Giants turned

:06:00. > :06:10.all that on its head with one of the greatest moments in Super Bowl

:06:10. > :06:12.

:06:12. > :06:22.COMMENTATOR: Manning, still on his feet, Eli Manning, they have a

:06:22. > :06:23.

:06:23. > :06:30.target down the field. The catch has been made! The Giants are the

:06:30. > :06:34.While the rematch of Superbowl 42 may have been the talk of thousands

:06:34. > :06:40.at media day earlier this week the team's * quarterbacks have their

:06:40. > :06:44.sights firmly set on today. I am trying to win one game, I am not

:06:44. > :06:48.into comparisons and I am trying to win this football game. That is why

:06:48. > :06:52.I am here, that is what is most important to me. That is what we

:06:52. > :06:56.have been working on all week to achieve, to win this game and to

:06:56. > :07:00.have great memories for the rest of our lives. It does not matter that

:07:00. > :07:05.the opponent, you just think about the chance to win a Championship at

:07:05. > :07:12.a Super Bowl. I am happy just to be here and I am going to play a great

:07:12. > :07:17.opponent and a great team and I look forward to the challenge.

:07:17. > :07:21.has always had great poise, he has been able to stand in there and

:07:21. > :07:26.make the plays with his team on his shoulders and give us a chance to

:07:26. > :07:30.win. He has exerted tremendous leadership skill this year, he has

:07:30. > :07:34.literally taken his team on his shoulders and he has demonstrated

:07:34. > :07:39.great leadership and ownership. will be backed up by a vibrant

:07:39. > :07:44.young receiving group. Just bringing the different element to

:07:44. > :07:50.the game. But after that we are capable of running the ball as well.

:07:50. > :07:55.We will do whatever we have to do to win the game and approach it

:07:55. > :08:00.however the defence tries to stop us. Revenge aside the other big

:08:00. > :08:06.motivation for a select band of patriots players and the coach is

:08:06. > :08:13.to win a 4th Super Bowl ring. is you what you work all year for.

:08:13. > :08:18.The preparation. It is an honour to compete in this great Championship

:08:18. > :08:23.game. You have got three of these rings, does it ever get different?

:08:23. > :08:29.Does it ever lose its edge? No, you prepare every year, once the season

:08:29. > :08:39.is over you prepare for another Championship. And among the giants'

:08:39. > :08:42.ranks are two British-born players. I have worked my butt of every day

:08:42. > :08:47.to try and stay in this league, my mind said every week is to keep

:08:47. > :08:51.your job and that is how you have to think about it -- mindset.

:08:51. > :08:56.a dream or a nightmare scenario with a few clicks on the clock and

:08:56. > :09:00.you have a kick to win it? It is not a nightmare, if you're in this

:09:00. > :09:05.position you have to have the attitude to make the kick. Would

:09:05. > :09:08.you like the opportunity? Yes, I would love it. Danny, I am not

:09:08. > :09:12.ignoring the whole media week but do you believe what they say when

:09:12. > :09:17.they say they're not out for revenge? It was quite a go when

:09:17. > :09:20.they did play the game but there are eight games remaining on the

:09:20. > :09:30.patriots' roster that lost that game and deep inside it bothers

:09:30. > :09:31.

:09:31. > :09:37.them and they will have more hunger tonight. Particularly the carriage

:09:37. > :09:47.and particularly Tom Brady. other thing is that Tom Coughlin

:09:47. > :09:53.

:09:53. > :09:59.has beaten Bill Belichick on for the five occasions they have played.

:09:59. > :10:03.Let's look at the players involved, let's look at the quarterbacks. We

:10:03. > :10:08.have two great ones tonight. Tom Brady could become the third

:10:08. > :10:13.quarter back to win four Super Bowl rings after his childhood hero, Joe

:10:13. > :10:19.Montana, and Terry Bradshaw. Danny, where do you rank him among the

:10:19. > :10:22.all-time greats? He is one of the best, he has always been. He is the

:10:22. > :10:25.constant professional. He says all the right things in the media and

:10:25. > :10:32.he never puts his team-mates down and he plays the game in the right

:10:32. > :10:35.way. Joe Montana this week told him the great -- called him the great.

:10:35. > :10:41.That might be Joe Montana being humble but they are both great

:10:41. > :10:44.players. They are going to go after him tonight? You can't take that

:10:44. > :10:48.came from four years ago out of your mind because that is how they

:10:48. > :10:53.beat the patriots by rushing Brady. They noticed Brady is very cool

:10:53. > :10:57.under pressure and he likes to step forward and keep this play going.

:10:57. > :11:02.What they did was they took that away. The idea is to upset their

:11:02. > :11:06.timing because the patriots' Offence works around timing. If you

:11:06. > :11:09.can get him thinking that extra second you have a chance of getting

:11:09. > :11:14.him misfiring or throwing to the wrong receiver or reading things

:11:14. > :11:17.wrong. As Danny was saying he is so quick to recognise what the defence

:11:17. > :11:23.is going to know where he should go and to get rid of the ball and to

:11:23. > :11:27.put it where his receiver can make a catch. Facing him tonight is Eli

:11:27. > :11:32.Manning, the Manning family story is the stuff of legend in the USA

:11:32. > :11:36.but it is worth retelling. Dad, an NFL quarterback, has two sons to

:11:37. > :11:41.both become NFL quarterbacks and win the Super Bowl in consecutive

:11:41. > :11:44.years. Four years ago he was seen as the inferior Manning's but he

:11:44. > :11:48.could get the second Super Bowl ring that his brother could not

:11:48. > :11:52.manage. He has become quite a leader since that Super Bowl night.

:11:52. > :11:57.He became a leader that night and do you think he toughened up?

:11:57. > :12:01.think so, he showed people that he had that toughness. We will be

:12:01. > :12:10.looking at the highlights... It is like horse feathers where he does

:12:10. > :12:14.not let go of the ball. Look at him getting up against San Francisco in

:12:14. > :12:20.the Conference Championship game, he took a beating in that game. But

:12:20. > :12:25.he keeps playings alive and he gives his receivers a chance to

:12:25. > :12:29.make plays. Sometimes you think he is pretty lucky but he knows after

:12:30. > :12:36.the time he has got a receiver in a good position. The Patriots on

:12:36. > :12:39.their walk down the tunnel, waiting to go out and be announced at the

:12:39. > :12:44.Lucas Oil Stadium. I wonder what's going through some of their minds,

:12:44. > :12:47.Danny? This is the night they had been dreaming about their whole

:12:47. > :12:52.life growing up as a football player. This is something I had

:12:52. > :12:57.always been more wanting to be a part of. I will continue to strive

:12:57. > :13:02.for that day hopefully. Patriots are very keen on going out

:13:03. > :13:07.as a group? Bill Belichick started that at the Superbowls, instead of

:13:07. > :13:11.being introduced as the offence and defence individually, they go out

:13:11. > :13:16.together and almost everybody wants to do that. You win as a team, you

:13:16. > :13:26.lose as a team, and you go out as a team, they think. Here we go, let's

:13:26. > :13:26.

:13:26. > :14:07.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 40 seconds

:14:07. > :14:17.enjoy it with the NBC commentary ANNOUNCER: Now please welcome the

:14:17. > :14:40.

:14:40. > :14:45.NFC champions, the New England Let's hope Bill Belichick goes to

:14:45. > :14:52.the right bench, Super Bowl 39, he went to sit on the evils bench.

:14:52. > :14:57.is wearing the red hooded sweatshirt, last time he wore a red

:14:57. > :15:04.one and that is why they lost obviously. Danny has spotted that

:15:04. > :15:13.he thinks it is more a Jains kraut and a patriots crowd, it is down to

:15:13. > :15:18.the battle between Tom Brady and Eli Manning -- A giants' crowd.

:15:18. > :15:22.Manning is in good company in Indianapolis. The House that his

:15:22. > :15:28.brother built. Let's focus on the patriots, and two of the guys Brady

:15:28. > :15:32.will be throwing passes to. The contrast in size could not be any

:15:32. > :15:37.bigger, Comtel Skeate broke the record for touchdowns by a tight

:15:37. > :15:41.end this season and his fitness dominated the week. He hurt his

:15:41. > :15:45.ankle in the Conference Championship game. It was diagnosed

:15:45. > :15:49.as an ankle sprain, normally that takes quite a long time to recover

:15:49. > :15:55.from, maybe a month. This is two weeks later and he is back playing.

:15:55. > :15:59.He needs to be able to cut off that food and drive off that foot, he

:15:59. > :16:04.has incredible speed for a man his side. He is also a really good

:16:04. > :16:13.blocker so he is everything you would want a tied ends to beat. But

:16:13. > :16:18.if he is 65 %, as Danny nos, you become a liability. Tight end, is

:16:18. > :16:22.he redefining the role of the tight end? Particularly this season.

:16:22. > :16:27.Absolutely, he is a big guy with speed and he can catch. He is a

:16:27. > :16:32.nasty guy, he plays the game the right way, he is tough. He is going

:16:32. > :16:35.to get the job done. He certainly is tough, let's take a look at the

:16:35. > :16:40.injury he received in the Championship game against the

:16:40. > :16:46.Ravens. He is very lucky that he hasn't broken his ankle. Absolutely,

:16:46. > :16:50.when you see a guy tackle the other guy from the back, not a only is it

:16:50. > :16:57.a flag but it often ends to an injury to your legs. We lost a guy

:16:57. > :17:00.in St Louis who broke his leg doing the same things. The guy that made

:17:00. > :17:07.the tackle was also the guy that put Tom Brady out a couple of

:17:07. > :17:12.seasons ago and put Walker out a couple of years later. He came out

:17:12. > :17:22.stamping around, didn't he? Let's go to the anthems, Kelly Clarkson

:17:22. > :17:27.

:17:27. > :17:33.On the surface it seemed like a contradiction, a football star

:17:33. > :17:40.known as weakness, but pay 10's style epitomised that word.

:17:41. > :17:45.Graceful style complemented by force. He made an impact helping

:17:45. > :17:55.children in need through his foundation. Now his legend in jaws

:17:55. > :18:05.

:18:11. > :18:16.special presentation party. If the water Payton NFL man of the Year

:18:16. > :18:19.award is the only legal ward that recognises a player for his of the

:18:19. > :18:25.field service as well as his playing excellence. The NFL is

:18:25. > :18:35.proud to honour Matt Burke and for 2011, water Payton NFL man of the

:18:44. > :18:54.country, please welcome from NBC's the Voice, Blake Scholten and

:23:10. > :23:18.Kelly so much better than Christina. We stopped at our chat very

:23:18. > :23:23.abruptly so let's move on to another one of Tom Brady's options,

:23:23. > :23:27.Wes Welker. He is shorter and not as fast as other guys but he is

:23:27. > :23:33.very quick and he plays the game very tough. He has been through

:23:33. > :23:43.three teams now and this has not found his role in the last few

:23:43. > :23:48.

:23:48. > :23:52.years -- has found his role. With those two tight ends they can

:23:52. > :24:00.fly the short areas and the middle of the field relief well. -- they

:24:00. > :24:06.can flood. When they leave things open -- really well. It is a

:24:06. > :24:15.precision orientated offence. It gains a lot, or it is drawn a lot

:24:15. > :24:24.from the guy that was Walker and Danny played for in college, a --

:24:24. > :24:34.where is -- Wes Welker. Absolutely. Mike Leach did a lot of great

:24:34. > :24:34.

:24:34. > :24:40.things at Texas. He intimated that spread offence in the college era.

:24:40. > :24:45.Guys like Josh Mardan rules and Bill Belichick do the same thing,

:24:45. > :24:49.allow Wes Welker to contribute to the team. Let's talk about Bill

:24:49. > :24:57.Belichick, a man you might know very well, we are going to go back

:24:57. > :25:07.to 1972. I had very big hair there. Billy is in the back row. He had a

:25:07. > :25:13.

:25:13. > :25:19.Beatles haircut. Give us an insight into the man? Beside I saw was just

:25:19. > :25:24.playing lacrosse with him, which was actually a much better sport

:25:24. > :25:28.for him -- at the side. He was very serious, very detailed orientated

:25:28. > :25:32.and wanted to know why we were doing some things. He knew more

:25:32. > :25:37.about the game than both of our coaches at the time, which was

:25:37. > :25:41.interesting for a freshman. He has brought that same kind of attention

:25:41. > :25:46.to the NFL. He grew up coaching, his dad was a naval academy

:25:46. > :25:54.football coach. He did a lot of things like this with his dad as a

:25:54. > :25:58.kid? Exactly. He participated in practices. He grew up in that world.

:25:58. > :26:04.He always knew that's what he wanted to do. Dani, Tom Coughlin is

:26:04. > :26:10.an interesting number. He was known really as a tyrant entail the

:26:10. > :26:16.Superbowl 42 winning year when his staff encouraged him to calm down -

:26:16. > :26:26.- and tell. Guys who have played for him tell us that he is a

:26:26. > :26:26.

:26:26. > :26:31.military type guide -- and until. - - guy. But he has proven to

:26:31. > :26:41.everybody that he can win. He gives his insistence a lot of leeway,

:26:41. > :26:41.

:26:41. > :26:51.Bill Belichick has had a lot of good assistance with Josh McDaniel.

:26:51. > :26:52.

:26:52. > :26:58.Is that a sign of a curate's cage? It is a raw skill you need. Some

:26:58. > :27:03.NFL coaches delegate. -- A coaches skill. He keeps the play is in line.

:27:03. > :27:07.He is still leading but he is willing to delegate a way. We have

:27:07. > :27:13.to hope the giants on the field today are more professional than

:27:13. > :27:17.their website, who accidentally posted that yesterday. The Giants

:27:18. > :27:21.are Super Bowl champions. That will be motivation for the patriots.

:27:21. > :27:25.never want to make the bulletin board on the other team but I guess

:43:18. > :43:22.The next play off, then the one after, he came back in, which is

:43:22. > :43:25.important. As a receiver, you know you're going to be hit while your

:43:29. > :43:34.you're up in the air, you're going to be hit from behind, and hit hard.

:43:34. > :43:37.The most important thing is you keep that out out of your mind and

:43:38. > :43:41.concentrate on getting the ball into your hands. What was the worst

:43:41. > :43:46.hit you received? I was a kick-off returner. I was returning in

:43:52. > :43:58.hit so hard I got knocked out: I had to ask my partner if I got

:43:58. > :44:03.tackled yet. It was one of the times where my brain got rattled a

:44:03. > :44:13.bit. All part and parcel of the job, hey?

:44:13. > :44:24.

:44:24. > :44:32.Let's go back to Indianapolis - the Edelman. To the 17-yard line he

:44:32. > :44:37.goes. Brady with two long drives in a row. He comes out with 6 and a

:44:37. > :44:41.half to go in the third. You may recognise this. If you were

:44:41. > :44:45.watching last year's Super Bowl, it's even more relevant this year.

:44:45. > :44:49.This is - the correct term, is it the "play card", Danny? Just a call

:44:49. > :44:57.sheet. The call sheet. The call sheet from the Giants in Super Bowl

:44:57. > :45:00.42. As you can see, over the shoulder, over my shoulder, is

:45:00. > :45:06.incredibly, incredibly complicated to the amateurs' view. When you

:45:06. > :45:09.look at it, as a player for the Rams, I mean, how complicated does

:45:09. > :45:12.that look to you? How many of those plays could you read ayou read aand

:45:12. > :45:15.just by taking a look at it? First of all, these plays are all

:45:15. > :45:20.narrowed down. This is probably one-tenth of probably the whole

:45:20. > :45:23.playback, front and back. -- playbook. Each week, they install

:45:24. > :45:27.all these plays, put them down on their sheet, and you rehearse them

:45:27. > :45:33.in practice throughout the whole week. What these plays consistent

:45:33. > :45:38.of is basically it's a set, it's a me.

:45:38. > :45:42.It would be three wide, four wide, or whatever they want, really.

:45:42. > :45:45.Jumbo package, fourth and short, and basically what the play says -

:45:45. > :45:50.it's the personnel, it's the formation, it's the protection, and

:45:50. > :45:54.then it's the route tree. So the whole play is described as a

:45:54. > :45:57.quarterback. When the offensive coordinator, like Kevin Gilbright

:45:57. > :46:00.for the Giants, calls a play, there's only a specific bit of it

:46:00. > :46:03.that you will take in that's relevant to you? The quarterbacks

:46:03. > :46:06.stay in the play, then you have your specific points and where

:46:06. > :46:11.you're going to go, your positions on the field. You have to memorise

:46:11. > :46:18.it. It's basically like a spoken vocabulary. They're all coded.

:41:44. > :41:54.Manning during up the clock. -- eating up the clock. Here he goes

:41:54. > :42:02.

:42:02. > :42:12.I don't know what you're Superbowl parties are like but there are a

:42:12. > :42:20.lot of people in the studio puffing Manningham had a great catch,

:42:20. > :42:25.potentially the play of the game. Longest play, 38 yards. We praise

:42:25. > :42:31.Manningham for the catch but we should also praised Eli Manning.

:42:31. > :42:35.is a great throw and the he is great at doing that. He reads the

:42:35. > :42:41.coverage as well so he knows he has got Manningham over the defensive

:42:41. > :42:49.back and he does it with plenty of time. The only criticism is that

:42:49. > :42:59.because with one replay you realise it was a catch. Manning is looking

:42:59. > :42:59.

:42:59. > :43:09.right down the middle of the field. It is just put in their perfectly.

:43:09. > :43:15.The way that the Patriots... It is without having the man over the top

:43:15. > :43:21.there. The corner is letting him go help but the help is not the right

:43:21. > :43:29.thing. Mordt is reduced to constantly having to play the hands

:43:29. > :43:35.-- Moore. In those Championship games there was a player blamed for

:43:35. > :43:42.it sounds, if the Patriots lose this, will Wes Welker get similar

:43:42. > :43:47.treatment? There have been a lot of that catch, though, the game is

:43:47. > :43:57.over because the Patriots will take a lot of time to go down and the

:43:57. > :43:59.

:43:59. > :44:03.field goal will make a huge task force New York. It is a demanded

:44:03. > :44:11.hitch. Basically it is a launch pad on the right hand side freeing up

:44:11. > :44:17.Wes Welker. He could have been wide open against the safety. He would

:44:18. > :44:27.make that catch nine times out of ten. But the game is not over and

:44:28. > :44:40.

:44:40. > :44:45.he is still a great player so we am

:44:45. > :44:49.to to on the one-yard line to run down the Clarke and kick a

:44:49. > :44:59.field goal lead. It is a tough decision but it is possible -- run

:44:59. > :45:03.

:45:03. > :45:11.down the clock. They start to round the clock all the way down. -- to

:45:11. > :45:16.run. Nicks will get the first down. They will be compelled to use their

:45:16. > :45:20.time out but it is already 1st & goal. That is going to give the

:45:20. > :45:27.Patriots a chance here because it does preserve the time out. I

:45:27. > :45:34.thought he was going to have the first down regardless. The Giants

:45:34. > :45:42.are going to get to use almost 40 seconds because of the challenge

:45:42. > :45:49.that costs New England a time-out. The ball is that the seven yard

:45:49. > :45:54.line. First down. -- is at. The Patriots take a time out here. They

:45:54. > :46:04.can take another one, remember you can use it before you take a field

:46:04. > :46:05.

:46:05. > :46:11.goal so you round the clock down. Brady -- you run the clock down.

:46:11. > :46:16.Boy, has he come through in the 4th quarter? Simply sensational. Has

:46:17. > :46:25.had every element of the toughest tasks you could possibly have.

:46:25. > :46:30.Moore pounding on his shoulder, you you have got to maintain control

:46:30. > :46:36.throughout the entirety of the catch. Absolutely brilliant. Eli

:46:36. > :46:40.Manning, what else can you say about this guy? Every time he gets

:46:40. > :46:46.in one of the situations he is incredible. Beginning of the season

:46:46. > :46:52.he was asked if he is in Tom Brady's class, he said yes and he

:46:52. > :47:02.has not backed down from that comment. He is the coolest guy in

:47:02. > :47:02.

:47:02. > :47:11.the room right now. 2nd & goal. Bradshaw... He wanted to stop but

:47:11. > :47:16.he gets into the end zone. He had such a big hole and he tried to

:47:16. > :47:21.stop at the one-yard line but at least he gets into the end zone. At

:47:21. > :47:25.the end of this sequence the Patriots are still going to need a

:47:25. > :47:31.touchdown and not a field goal. There was time to talk about it

:47:31. > :47:37.here and I guarantee you that he had been told to get down. He just

:47:37. > :47:41.didn't do it. It is basically came over if you can convert an extra

:47:41. > :47:46.point at that moment and now it is going the other way and Tom Brady

:47:46. > :47:51.is going to get a chance. A big mistake. I don't think he expected

:47:51. > :47:55.to see the Red Sea parts to that level. He saw the goal line, he

:47:55. > :48:02.tried to go down, he gets into the end zone for a touchdown he doesn't

:48:02. > :48:07.want. It is a four point lead, you might as well make it six. And

:48:07. > :48:13.hoped that even if New England's cause you block the extra point. --

:48:13. > :48:23.New England scores. The Patriots have one time out when they get the

:48:23. > :48:29.ball back. They get the ball this time to DJ Ware but he does not get

:48:29. > :48:35.in. Not that important, all things considered. Back to the touchdown

:48:35. > :48:39.we go, the touchdown you never want to score. Give the Patriots credit,

:48:39. > :48:43.I think they are essentially just let this happen. It is good

:48:43. > :48:49.strategy on the part of Bill Belichick. He knows what is going

:48:49. > :48:53.on. You can tell by the way Spikes played it that he wasn't going to

:48:53. > :49:00.make the tackle. I think he was coming back to knock him into the

:49:00. > :49:04.end zone. The thought process was simple there. If they get a field

:49:04. > :49:09.goal, not only a field goal but because of the time out they had to

:49:09. > :49:15.use on the challenge it would be 20 seconds down the field. They took a

:49:15. > :49:19.calculated risk of having Brady with 20 seconds to get into field-

:49:20. > :49:24.goal range or one minute to get a touchdown. And they have one

:49:24. > :49:34.remaining time-out preserved as well. Lots of things in played for

:49:34. > :49:58.

:49:58. > :50:06.team trying to win the 4th Super Edelman. Brady has got a lead of 80

:50:06. > :50:14.yards in 50 seconds. For good back to the interview one more time,

:50:14. > :50:24.Brady said if he had the chance he One of the great players who has

:50:24. > :50:26.

:50:26. > :50:30.never put on a helmet in the NFL -- ever put. Down by three, down by

:50:30. > :50:40.four is a different story. Gronkowski is not in the game right

:50:40. > :50:45.

:50:45. > :50:55.now. Chad Ochocinco is. The Giants with a four man wide. Tom Brady

:50:55. > :50:57.

:50:57. > :51:03.stepping up and looking over the Branch. It is incomplete. It would

:51:03. > :51:07.have been at least a 20 yard gains. The safeties are coming in, they

:51:07. > :51:17.are expecting something over the middle of the field and Tom Brady

:51:17. > :51:32.

:51:32. > :51:42.almost got it in there. Second line by Aaron Hearn and theirs. --

:51:42. > :51:44.

:51:44. > :51:50.Aaron Hearn -- Hernandez. Now you have to start thinking about

:51:50. > :52:00.getting the first down first. There is no way to simulate the pressure

:52:00. > :52:05.

:52:05. > :52:11.Brady, he is going to get sacked at

:52:11. > :52:21.the 13 yard line! They are going to have to take a time-out and it is

:52:21. > :52:24.

:52:24. > :52:34.going to feel like forever here. 36 seconds. Tucked with two sacks in

:52:34. > :52:40.

:52:40. > :52:45.the game -- Tuck. Just when you need him he delivers. The New York

:52:45. > :52:51.Giants' front line combined for the play of the game so far defensively.

:52:51. > :52:59.It comes down to getting 16 yards now just to keep the game going. No

:52:59. > :53:08.time-outs. The New York Giants with ear

:53:08. > :53:18.they had 10 but did not get to the play-offs. Bradshaw, who makes the

:53:18. > :53:19.

:53:19. > :53:25.game-winning touchdown, that they will talk about forever. Back again

:53:25. > :53:35.to be 30. The game is slipping away. It is caught by A branch and that

:53:35. > :53:45.

:53:45. > :53:52.keeps the game going. -- by A h a

:53:52. > :54:00.brilliant play and they got out of bounds. To the 33, they need 67

:54:00. > :54:10.yards in 32 seconds. They have got to get up to the line of scrimmage,

:54:10. > :54:12.

:54:12. > :54:20.no time-outs. The Patriots trying to get a couple of seconds put back

:54:20. > :54:24.on the clock. Ideally he would like to to Hail Mary from a

:54:24. > :54:29.little closer. This is a long throw, Brady has a long arm but you would

:54:29. > :54:35.like one more thing completion -- one more completion out of bounds

:54:35. > :54:39.if you could. The Giants have too many men on the field and the pass

:54:39. > :54:49.is incomplete. That takes it down to nine seconds. They do it with

:54:49. > :54:55.too many men on the field. That is going to move the play down. They

:54:55. > :54:59.will replay the second down but more importantly is it took so much

:54:59. > :55:06.out of that nine seconds. You do move it up five yards which will

:55:06. > :55:10.help in this situation. But you are not closer to midfield. Now Tom

:55:10. > :55:16.Brady, you want to be able to scramble around and buy a bit of

:55:16. > :55:26.time and set it up down the field. You have got the chance of two Hail

:55:26. > :55:27.

:55:27. > :55:33.Marys here. You have not got Gronkowski any more. You have got A

:55:33. > :55:39.branch. Branch is out of bounds. Now they will be forced to go deep

:55:39. > :55:48.down field with five seconds remaining. Inside pressure at that

:55:48. > :55:58.time. Forced the quick throw. Brady really had no chance. No chance to

:55:58. > :56:03.

:56:03. > :56:13.work this thing down the field. Macro hears -- here's Gronkowski to

:56:13. > :56:16.

:56:16. > :56:23.go for the Hail Mary. Tom Brady, the game ends here to the end zone.

:56:23. > :56:33.Gronkowski can't get it. Incomplete. The New York Giants given last

:56:33. > :56:43.rites by many in December are the Super Bowl champions in February.

:56:43. > :56:43.

:56:43. > :56:53.Gronkowski came close. Eli Manning has done it again. What an

:56:53. > :56:58.

:56:58. > :57:05.incredible year by Eli. Two coaches who shared Super Bowl rings, Super

:57:05. > :57:15.Bowl 25, against each inst each Another Lombardi trophy going to be

:57:15. > :57:24.manning family. -- Manning. Here's the last play. Gronkowski has got a

:57:24. > :57:29.shot but he just can't get there. If it had been another foot higher,

:57:29. > :57:39.Gronkowski could have been there. I cannot say enough about what Eli

:57:39. > :57:40.

:57:40. > :57:50.Manning has nning has season. the 4th time that the Giants have

:57:50. > :57:54.

:57:54. > :58:04.won the Super Bowl. And in -- Eli, will he be the MVP here in this

:58:04. > :58:07.

:58:07. > :58:15.one? Afterwards the presentation of XLVI MVP and all the other things

:58:15. > :58:20.coming up on the other side of the break. Tom Brady has it end the way

:58:20. > :58:30.it did four years ago years ago ert in Arizona. They were running them

:58:30. > :58:44.

:58:44. > :58:47.out of town eight weeks ago. Now They were running them out of town

:58:47. > :58:52.a few weeks ago. Some of the newspapers were saying that the

:58:52. > :58:58.coach must go. We will talk about Eli Manning in a moment but Danny,

:58:58. > :59:02.have you ever seen and ending like that at a Super Bowl? No, it was

:59:02. > :59:06.totally expected, though. They are two of the best teams in the United

:59:06. > :59:15.States going at it. It was de de thriller and the

:59:15. > :59:20.Giants came out on top. We have had close finishose finish past five

:59:20. > :59:28.years, but have you ever seen a Super Bowl won again by a touchdown

:59:28. > :59:33.that was so reluctantly scored? was almost like he knew what to do

:59:33. > :59:41.but he could not make himself do it. He literally tries to sit down at

:59:41. > :59:49.this point. It is like he was celebrating. Credit to the Patriots.

:59:49. > :59:59.The strategy came close to working but they just could not pull it off.

:59:59. > :00:08.He knows what he should do. He needs to go down right there.

:00:08. > :00:13.is an ingenious play from Belichick and his defensive team. They wanted

:00:13. > :00:18.to let them score there. The Giants were prepared for that because

:00:18. > :00:24.Bradshaw knew what he should do but decided not to do it. I keep coming

:00:24. > :00:30.back to a couple of drops at the last and then I come back to

:00:30. > :00:40.Gronkowski's ankle. It is designed for him to get up and keep the ball

:00:40. > :00:43.

:00:43. > :00:47.He played a part even in that final. Absolutely. I have to play the part

:00:47. > :00:53.in this whole game, this whole performance. I don't know how many

:00:53. > :00:58.balls he caught, but he didn't - he is an elite player in this league,

:00:58. > :01:08.on this team. You wish that that ankle wasn't bothering him so he

:01:08. > :01:10.

:01:10. > :01:18.could make more plays. Walker. Hernandez - if he cannot catch the

:01:18. > :01:23.ball, he is supposed to give it to Branch Walker or Rob Gronkowski,

:01:23. > :01:27.but couldn't. He is meant to tip it off a bit, get height on it for the

:01:27. > :01:31.guys around it, rather than touch it down. If you can catch it

:01:31. > :01:36.himself, he had to tip it to his partner. Sno they are coming from

:01:36. > :01:40.behind. As you saw, the Giants, almost everyone behind Hernandez.

:01:40. > :01:46.Keeping in front of him is about all he can do, he did that. But,

:01:46. > :01:53.you know, the key play in the game? Two plays, Walker drops that ball.

:01:53. > :01:57.It would have won the game, basically. Braidly throws bebehind

:01:57. > :02:05.Branch, which would have kept the drive alive. The Patriots have no-

:02:05. > :02:09.one to blame but themselves. Manningham. It is a play that he

:02:09. > :02:14.missed earlier in the game. He got the ball with one foot and bounced

:02:15. > :02:19.it. An error on his part. To come back and make a play like that in

:02:19. > :02:22.the fourth quarter, it's a testament. Everyone says we make

:02:22. > :02:30.too much about this revenge the second time around, but it is

:02:30. > :02:40.particular catch. Eli driving them down. Brady having a short amount

:02:40. > :02:40.

:02:40. > :02:44.of time to go left of the field. It had crucial catches.

:02:44. > :02:48.Manningham. The wide-receiving call. Eli, every Friday afternoon, to go

:02:48. > :02:54.through what they are going to do, work on their looks to each other,

:02:54. > :02:59.signal, all the plays - paid off. Absolutely. You can tell what kind

:02:59. > :03:06.of practice, they are great core guys. Everybody knows that. That is

:03:06. > :03:13.why they are Super Bowl champions. It Ittaking Cruz out of the

:03:13. > :03:18.game. He was almost - Nicks came through. Manning was looking for

:03:18. > :03:23.him. Manningham came through in the end when he had to. It is a lot

:03:23. > :03:28.about Tom Brady's reputation, what he has done in the game. Even with

:03:28. > :03:33.nine seconds left on the clock, the ha haming, we all thought it

:03:33. > :03:37.could soon be done. He is a fighter, a warrior. That is why he will go

:03:37. > :03:41.the whole thing. He will look back and see there's a few passs in the

:03:41. > :03:49.game he didn't want. He would like to have back, if he could do that.

:03:49. > :03:54.And I think that's been the story, party from the Denver game. There's

:03:54. > :04:04.a few plays in each game he would like to have back. Let's look at

:04:04. > :04:16.

:04:16. > :04:20.the statistics and the comparison They are quite similar, actually,

:04:20. > :04:24.in how they play the game, like you said, chased back when that big

:04:24. > :04:30.interception, you know, 40 or 50 yards downfield. That was a big

:04:30. > :04:34.swing in the game. The debate now, both in the game and across America,

:04:34. > :04:38.will be Eli and will it be brought back to his brother?

:04:38. > :04:44.Well, the thing that I was talking about the - you know, the

:04:44. > :04:47.consistency during the seebz is the one thing where Eli separates out.

:04:48. > :04:55.Maybe it is a factor of the Giants not being as good a football team,

:04:55. > :04:58.but I don't think so. They finished 10 and 6 or 9 and 7 for reasons.

:04:59. > :05:06.And this is what you look for when you are talking about what their

:05:06. > :05:10.score, the ones who bring it every week. Lei has an uncanny ability,

:05:10. > :05:15.when the team is going through, to push it to the next level. I had

:05:15. > :05:21.Eli for this season behind this, an elite three, a couple of guys

:05:21. > :05:31.behind that group, where Eli is. He is asserting himself into the elite

:05:31. > :05:35.

:05:35. > :05:40.4. Is he into the elite 5? It is Breize, Rogers and Brady.

:05:40. > :05:50.Eli is in the play maker case, not necessarily consist the tensy. Week

:05:50. > :05:54.

:05:54. > :05:58.in, week out, he makes big plays when you need them.

:05:58. > :06:06.I'm not going to cancel out from Paton.

:06:06. > :06:12.Hi will produce some things. He has a couple more years left in them.

:06:12. > :06:22.Eli could say, "I have two Super Bowl rings." Exactly, "And I have

:06:22. > :06:23.

:06:23. > :06:28.none." Peyton only has one. The monkey on your back, the reality is

:06:28. > :06:33.every quarterback cannot win the one unless one. When you go back in

:06:33. > :06:38.10 years' time to look at the whole thing, both - looking at

:06:38. > :06:45.consistency. Let's go back to Indianapolis.

:11:20. > :11:24.Tom Goslin. I want everybody in New York, New Jersey, around the world

:11:24. > :11:34.- this is for you guys! This team played their hearts out

:11:34. > :11:36.

:11:37. > :11:42.for you! Oh, man, what a game. I thought

:11:42. > :11:46.four years a ago was exciting. That was a dre rehearsal. This is one of

:11:46. > :11:50.the greatest football games I have seen. To share it with the city of

:11:50. > :11:54.Indianapolis, they did an amazing job! I want to thank everybody! I'm

:11:55. > :12:00.looking at my players right now - I have never seen smiles that big!

:12:00. > :12:09.Steve, congratulations! I mean, get over here.

:12:09. > :12:12.Holding the hardware. Congratulations!

:12:12. > :12:17.You know what, to share this with all the players, the coaches, the

:12:17. > :12:21.people. It has been a tremendous job to get us here, to play against

:12:21. > :12:26.a great team like the Patriots, to have a finish like that, going down

:12:26. > :12:32.in history - a marvellous feeling. You dominanted the first half until

:12:32. > :12:36.Brady goes 10, 10, they score. What did you tell your guys? We had a

:12:36. > :12:41.couple of penaltys that I thought points were taken off the board fof

:12:41. > :12:45.us. When we got into half time, we said we can play better than this.

:12:45. > :12:53.Everybody agreed? We got energised again. We came out with conviction

:12:53. > :12:57.and the rest is history. Two Super Bowls for you! I'm not

:12:57. > :13:01.about comparisons or anything of that nature. I'm thankful and

:13:01. > :13:06.grateful for the opportunity I've had as the head coach of the New

:13:06. > :13:16.York Giants. The wonderful players I've had to work with!

:13:16. > :13:22.

:13:22. > :13:32.Congratulations! Bring up Eli Manning!

:13:32. > :13:33.

:13:33. > :13:37.CHEERS AND APPLAUSE. Are you able to exhale here? It has

:13:37. > :13:42.been a wild, wild season. We have a great bunch of guys. You guys never

:13:42. > :13:46.quit. A great faith in each other. The way we dealt with every thing

:13:46. > :13:51.all season, came out strong. point in the game where you thought,

:13:51. > :13:56."We could be in trouble." No, stay positive. We were moving the ball.

:13:56. > :14:03.We didn't work in touchdown. We kept getting close, but our defence

:14:03. > :14:09.was playing tough. I knew they would get it over. They played

:14:09. > :14:13.great and got us to win. You had the final drove. I know that

:14:13. > :14:19.Manningham played an unbelievable role. The plate-calling, how much

:14:19. > :14:29.was that with you maybe changing plays? A great game plan.

:14:29. > :14:29.

:14:29. > :14:36.They had a couple blitz zeros, a couple of players.

:14:36. > :14:40.Manningham, Keen, Victor Cruz. Bringing in the new guys, playing

:14:40. > :14:47.different spots, great effort. does it feel to win the Super Bowl

:14:47. > :14:56.in the building that your brother built? It wins good - it feels good

:14:56. > :14:59.to win a Super Bowl. Doesn't matter what stadium!

:14:59. > :15:04.For the all the dedication they put in here to make it happen. Thank

:15:04. > :15:13.you. You will notice the wheels over there - that is yours!

:15:13. > :15:19.Congratulations, Eli on behalf of Chevrolet MotorDivision.

:15:19. > :15:27.You have a convertible centenary edition. Chevy congratulations you!

:15:27. > :15:37.Hey, Eli, you have to have the kies first! Here!

:15:37. > :15:54.

:15:54. > :15:58.You might need the keys! At what point did you feel like you

:15:58. > :16:02.were the man that they had to stop? Oh, man, we were just trying to be

:16:02. > :16:10.patient. You have to be patient with this game. We knew this play

:16:10. > :16:14.would come. Is You had 10 catchers, how did you

:16:14. > :16:17.feel? That is good. To be part of this team - you know, blessed to be

:16:17. > :16:27.in a situation, I'm very happy right now. Congratulations to the

:16:27. > :16:33.

:16:33. > :16:43.New York Giants! Once again, the More to come from inturp bowl

:16:43. > :16:46.

:16:46. > :16:50.including, we hope, more interviews I got the impression that Eli was

:16:50. > :17:00.not bothered about the car, really! We will talk about him in just a

:17:00. > :17:04.

:17:04. > :17:08.moment. In five Super Bowls, that I have been down at half time.

:17:08. > :17:11.shows what warriors they are. Coming out, throwing punches,

:17:11. > :17:17.getting scores and points on the board is, you know, it is a true

:17:17. > :17:27.mark of a champion. That is what they are. True mark of a champion.

:17:27. > :17:27.

:17:27. > :17:32.Eli Manning a true champion. Yes, no question about that.

:17:32. > :17:38.We have been talking about Eli versus Peyton. Eli has the ability

:17:38. > :17:44.to rise to the occasion. Peyton has a team built around him. Eli has a

:17:44. > :17:54.team that changes - it doesn't matter what the parts are. He makes

:17:54. > :17:58.

:17:58. > :18:03.them work. He has offdays, though. When it

:18:03. > :18:13.comes down to the crunch downs, he delivers, no matter what the

:18:13. > :18:14.

:18:14. > :18:17.supporting cast. He shows that leadership in the fourth quarter.

:18:17. > :18:23.When he answers questions with the media. They really respect him and

:18:23. > :18:29.play hard for him. They are excited to run around or play defence.

:18:29. > :18:38.And we should give praise to his wide receiving call as well.

:18:38. > :18:44.Tremendous game. Nicks, when he looks for Nicks, he can throw the

:18:44. > :18:50.ball anywhere up in the world, knowing how Hakeem Nicks can go up

:18:50. > :18:53.and get it. That is a huge benefit to a quarterback to be able to have,

:18:53. > :18:56.especially one under pressure the same he is.

:18:56. > :19:00.Coughlin, we talked before the presentation about the pressure he

:19:00. > :19:03.was under at certain times during the season. Yeah, absolutely. You

:19:03. > :19:08.know, throughout the course of the season, there is ups, down,

:19:08. > :19:11.adversity. The biggest thing of dealing with that adversity, there

:19:11. > :19:15.are certain times that people were scared that he would lose his job

:19:15. > :19:19.this season. The fact that he turned it right, went back to the

:19:19. > :19:29.Super Bowl, won it, it is great for him. The greatest fans in the world

:19:29. > :19:29.

:19:29. > :19:35.who were texting and e-mailing him saying, "Fire Coughlin." But what a

:19:35. > :19:40.gentleman on this great stage! To be matter of fact about the

:19:40. > :19:44.whole business and issue of this job and leadership, as he is in the

:19:44. > :19:50.locker-room with the players. As we have seen over the last 24

:19:50. > :19:54.hours, winning Super Bowls doesn't get you into the Hall of Fame.

:19:54. > :20:02.automatically. I don't like to judge before a guy's - the body of

:20:02. > :20:07.a guy's work is done. So far, Salsa was in the hall of

:20:07. > :20:12.fame before he stopped coaching. He came back from retirement. It may

:20:12. > :20:15.well have worked against him. Tom Coughlin? Probably have a good shot,

:20:15. > :20:25.depending how much longer he stays with the Giants, what that legacy

:20:25. > :20:26.

:20:26. > :20:30.is in when he leaves. Let me gev you Tweets. "Wow!" "Is this a

:20:30. > :20:38.Hollywood film, the suspense is definite." "Shakespeare can't do

:20:38. > :20:43.drama like sport." "Chris Kellie: "My first N ffpt L Super Bowl, I'm

:20:43. > :20:48.hooked." Well, get yourself to Wembley in October for some NFL

:20:48. > :20:53.action. Live, see it in person! Danny, "We will take on the Super

:20:53. > :21:03.Bowl runner up." Ening England Patriots, tickets go

:21:03. > :21:18.
