:00:16. > :00:24.Into the end zone... Ridiculous! Unbelievable!

:00:25. > :00:39.We got it. My goodness, the legend just goes on! The pass is

:00:40. > :00:39.intercepted at the goal-line! Unreal. New England, we new

:00:40. > :00:49.champions. Welcome to the San Francisco Bay

:00:50. > :00:52.area, known for its fantastic architecture and stunning scenery.

:00:53. > :00:56.But none of that matters today. This is the biggest day in American

:00:57. > :00:57.sport, when the Carolina Panthers and the Denver Broncos go

:00:58. > :01:16.head-to-head for an iconic trophy. Let's start at the beginning, shall

:01:17. > :01:20.we? Back in the 60s, when a jewellery designer scribbled a few

:01:21. > :01:24.ideas down on a cocktail napkin over a business lunch, he had no idea

:01:25. > :01:30.what he was letting the world in for. What a stunner. Handcrafted,

:01:31. > :01:38.solid sterling silver. It took me a couple of years to get a name, but I

:01:39. > :01:43.think it suits me. Vince. Since then, things really started to pick

:01:44. > :01:47.up. Over the years, I've seen it all, I have been passed from legend

:01:48. > :01:52.to legend. I have been photographed more times than I can remember. I

:01:53. > :01:58.have had that once-in-a-lifetime moment over and over again. I've had

:01:59. > :02:02.some good times. This is the glitz and glamour of the Star-Spangled

:02:03. > :02:06.Banner in its glory. Anything and everything you can possibly imagine

:02:07. > :02:17.has happened, as well as a few things you can't. Look at me now.

:02:18. > :02:22.Almost half a century later. The world has changed. There's no doubt

:02:23. > :02:28.about that. I'm still the same. And tonight is a special occasion.

:02:29. > :02:33.Tonight's the night when what started off as a drop of silver

:02:34. > :02:36.turns to gold. So welcome to the past, welcome to the future. Welcome

:02:37. > :02:50.to Super Bowl 50. And welcome to the Levi's Stadium in

:02:51. > :02:56.Santa Clara. It's about a 45 minute Drive from San Francisco on a good

:02:57. > :03:04.day. In the traffic! Sometimes maybe two hours, two and a half! We are

:03:05. > :03:13.not far off Super Bowl 50 kick off just after 11:30pm your time. Three

:03:14. > :03:16.very excited gentlemen. Osi has lifted the Vince Lombardi Trophy

:03:17. > :03:22.twice. Jason Bell a seven-year veteran of the NFL in defence with

:03:23. > :03:24.Houston, Dallas and the Giants. And Mike Carlson, the journalist and

:03:25. > :03:36.broadcaster who has covered nearly all 50! Seven out of the BBC. With

:03:37. > :03:40.two former players and a journalist, I would expect you to take all of

:03:41. > :03:46.this in your stride, and yet you are not. You are absolutely buzzing.

:03:47. > :03:51.Bouncing off the walls, this is so exciting. Sitting up here with you

:03:52. > :03:56.and Mike, I'm having the time of my life. This is fantastic. You got on

:03:57. > :04:04.the field earlier, it's a remarkable venue. It's amazing, so exciting.

:04:05. > :04:12.There is a buzz in the air. A brand-new stadium, built for this

:04:13. > :04:19.season. There are apps that tell you how busy the toilet is. It is the

:04:20. > :04:23.interactive experience. Many stadiums feel closed in, this is

:04:24. > :04:27.wide open. This position is virtually the same as when Santonio

:04:28. > :04:31.Holmes caught the Super Bowl winning pass right below us. Probably the

:04:32. > :04:36.most exciting moment I have seen in a football game. Super Bowl

:04:37. > :04:41.veterans, you know it is not just about the football. The half-time

:04:42. > :04:45.show has amazing importance. This year, for the 50th Super Bowl, the

:04:46. > :04:49.owner has gone to our very own Coldplay. We will bring you that in

:04:50. > :04:56.foil, they have two or three very special guests lined up to be with

:04:57. > :05:03.them. -- in full. I hope they all turn up! Super Bowl week begins with

:05:04. > :05:07.media day, all the players from both sides, both sets of coaches there,

:05:08. > :05:14.for anybody and everybody to interview, including Osi. This is

:05:15. > :05:19.the part some people hate, some people love, media day. We have

:05:20. > :05:23.media coverage from all over the world, the fans are loving it.

:05:24. > :05:30.First, the AFC champs, the Denver Broncos.

:05:31. > :05:36.See this guy talking? I have known him since he was 11. He always told

:05:37. > :05:41.me, hey, you are not going to be great until you win a Super Bowl! He

:05:42. > :05:50.has done it, I am trying to do the same. Tell us about the game plan

:05:51. > :05:56.tomorrow against Cam Newton. He is number one of one in quarterbacks.

:05:57. > :06:00.He can on the ball really well, he can make the big plays and he

:06:01. > :06:04.orchestrates the offence. You have to slow him down, you are not going

:06:05. > :06:09.to be able to stop him, I will let you know that, but you have to get

:06:10. > :06:13.pressure on him. The reason they have won 17 games this year... He

:06:14. > :06:20.has made a great transition to the NFL. In a short period of time. From

:06:21. > :06:27.the college game. I think the sky is the limit for him. For me, I have

:06:28. > :06:34.always viewed things differently, played differently. Not in the

:06:35. > :06:38.prototype way. Athletic quarterback coming out. For that person that may

:06:39. > :06:43.have made a mistake in their life, they can look at me and say, Cam did

:06:44. > :06:49.it, so I still have hope. One of these quarterbacks ain't built for

:06:50. > :06:56.this moment. Deion Sanders, prime-time protection. A lot of

:06:57. > :07:02.time, a lot of film to watch, how do you stay relaxed and not get caught

:07:03. > :07:06.up in everything going on? If you look in the dictionary, you go on

:07:07. > :07:10.the internet and you type in football, it says, a game that is

:07:11. > :07:15.played. It is all about having fun. When we were kids and we said let's

:07:16. > :07:20.play a game, we got excited because it is fun. You have to keep having

:07:21. > :07:24.fun with it. This team was full of guys with charisma, different guys

:07:25. > :07:28.from different places all over, but we all pull in the same direction.

:07:29. > :07:32.Not trying to make us conform to this or that, this is the way we do

:07:33. > :07:37.it, no, it's about being yourself and when you do that you are going

:07:38. > :07:39.to be successful. One of my favourite all-time players, my

:07:40. > :07:46.favourite celebration. Can you give us a glimpse? Just a little bit!

:07:47. > :07:51.It's hard to pull it out when it ain't gametime! You have to get the

:07:52. > :08:00.stands right. You have to unsheathe your sword. You run through the

:08:01. > :08:03.quarterback and... Slice away! The most important question when you

:08:04. > :08:08.watch that, when you were chatting to Roman Harper, were you thinking,

:08:09. > :08:14.what on earth are you wearing? Where did you get those sunglasses? I knew

:08:15. > :08:19.he had the eye injury! I thought we were friends, I just wasn't sure! I

:08:20. > :08:24.thought George Clinton was part of the half-time show! Remarkable

:08:25. > :08:30.sunglasses. When you were there, was it possible to gauge who was more

:08:31. > :08:36.relaxed, as a camp, talking to both sets of players? Yes, it was

:08:37. > :08:39.amazing, when I heard the Carolina Panthers talk, they were all saying

:08:40. > :08:42.the same thing, like they were in unison about how they believed in

:08:43. > :08:49.each other and the destiny of the team. It was definitely different

:08:50. > :08:53.than the Broncos. It has been a big thing this week. Each camp appears

:08:54. > :08:57.to be fighting for who has been disrespected the most. Is that

:08:58. > :09:01.normal in the Super Bowl? You look for motivation where you can find

:09:02. > :09:05.it. Often you watch the teams come out and you think, boy, that team

:09:06. > :09:10.looks tight, that team looks relaxed. It often makes more sense

:09:11. > :09:16.than you would think. How did you find media day as a player? Pretty

:09:17. > :09:20.annoying. Not that I didn't enjoy it, the media is a big part of what

:09:21. > :09:24.we do and getting the message to the fans, but to sit and answer the same

:09:25. > :09:28.questions over and over... A guy would be standing next to a reporter

:09:29. > :09:32.who asked me the exact same question, you would be, like, man,

:09:33. > :09:38.did you not just hear me answer the question? It was pretty frustration.

:09:39. > :09:43.We ask the same questions over and over, as you will find out over the

:09:44. > :09:47.next four hours! I had a tweet earlier from Panthers UK saying, are

:09:48. > :09:53.we going to get more hate on the Panthers? I said, hang on, that is a

:09:54. > :09:55.very strong word. And if you had been watching the highlights over

:09:56. > :09:59.the course of the season, the doubt doesn't come from all of us on the

:10:00. > :10:01.panel, there is one person in particular who doubts the Panthers.

:10:02. > :10:10.Here we go! The undefeated Carolina Panthers!

:10:11. > :10:15.There is no way they go undefeated. Cam Newton is playing MVP football,

:10:16. > :10:18.that is a ridiculous statement. I have to give credit where it is due.

:10:19. > :10:24.They are still going to lose a couple of games. A desperate

:10:25. > :10:28.football team right now, Atlanta are going to punch the Carolina Panthers

:10:29. > :10:35.in the mouth. Somebody should have come and punched me in the mouth! A

:10:36. > :10:42.truly unique quarterback. So you have changed your opinion? No! We

:10:43. > :10:46.don't want to annoy the Denver fans and we are impartial, but a huge

:10:47. > :10:51.part of me and Jason are thinking, if Carolina win, it is going to be

:10:52. > :10:55.fun! I wasn't wrong, they lost to Atlanta, not when I said, but they

:10:56. > :10:59.did, they didn't go undefeated, they are Super Bowl team but I said they

:11:00. > :11:04.wouldn't win the Super Bowl, and the game is about to be played. We will

:11:05. > :11:09.see what happens. Let's talk about the main man, Cam Newton. He came

:11:10. > :11:14.out to warm up at the Levi's Stadium in a Superman T-shirt. He had goal

:11:15. > :11:17.cleats on. He has spent the whole season, and so far today has not

:11:18. > :11:23.been different, looking like he is having fun. He is having a great

:11:24. > :11:27.time. The team is feeding off him, and if your leader is playing like

:11:28. > :11:34.that and enjoying the game, the team can do nothing but follow. It's his

:11:35. > :11:42.movement, isn't it? His ability to flow, fine, but it is his mobility.

:11:43. > :11:47.-- his ability to throw. Quarterbacks that have the ability

:11:48. > :11:53.to run, we have not seen a guy with this physicality in the NFL. This is

:11:54. > :11:57.a dynamic football player. The physicality is the key, Mike. I can

:11:58. > :12:01.remember three years ago having discussions about R G three, and yet

:12:02. > :12:09.his body could not deal with their hits. Cam seems to relish it. You

:12:10. > :12:13.are exactly right, he resembles Randall Cunningham from the old

:12:14. > :12:18.days, but he is so much bigger, he is built like a linebacker, a

:12:19. > :12:22.defensive end, he might be as much as 260 lb. He does not avoid

:12:23. > :12:27.contact. Occasionally he will go down rather than risk getting hurt,

:12:28. > :12:31.but I like the exuberance that he plays with. A lot of criticism from

:12:32. > :12:35.the old school media who think it is controversial. It hasn't been. This

:12:36. > :12:42.week, Noam Chomsky, the radical linguist in his 80s, was asked to

:12:43. > :12:45.pick the Super Bowl winner. He said, I like the Panthers because I think

:12:46. > :12:50.Cam Newton stands for everything that is right in the United States.

:12:51. > :12:54.You talk about his exuberance and how he has been criticised, take a

:12:55. > :12:57.look at how he arrived in San Francisco for the Super Bowl week.

:12:58. > :13:02.People are hammering him for the trousers that he wore. If it brings

:13:03. > :13:07.a smile to people's faces, and when I saw it in the UK, it brought a

:13:08. > :13:12.smile to my face, what is wrong with it? As a defensive end, the main job

:13:13. > :13:17.is to get to the quarterback, if I had seen him get off the plane like

:13:18. > :13:22.that, I would have been ecstatic! I would not be able to wait to get to

:13:23. > :13:28.this guy! Your first hit, you would mention the trousers to him. I would

:13:29. > :13:33.be so excited, when I get to you, we are going to see about those pants!

:13:34. > :13:37.Looking at the shirts for sale for the Panthers in San Francisco,

:13:38. > :13:43.looking at the different Panthers shirts, Newton dominates, second

:13:44. > :13:48.is... INAUDIBLE.

:13:49. > :13:58.What makes him so dynamic is the pass game, most middle linebacker 's

:13:59. > :14:06.cannot do what Kuechly does. He is as important to the defense as Cam

:14:07. > :14:13.Newton is to the offense. He is a playmaker. Phenomenal football

:14:14. > :14:24.player. Normally with a linebacker, they will try and patch it down --

:14:25. > :14:28.Pat it down. Whereas Kuechly...? Most of the time they are

:14:29. > :14:34.uncomfortable because they don't do it often, but he can play the ball,

:14:35. > :14:38.and that is key. The defense is based on him and Thomas Davis

:14:39. > :14:43.covering the whole field, rushing, going back and going side to side.

:14:44. > :14:46.His instincts are unbelievable, I saw him at Boston College, he was

:14:47. > :14:51.going to the ball before the quarterback had handed it off.

:14:52. > :14:56.Thomas Davis is going to play with a broken arm. You have done something

:14:57. > :14:59.similar. Yes, three times, and I knew he could play with it because

:15:00. > :15:04.of how they fix it. They put in the plate, but the issue will be using

:15:05. > :15:09.his hands in contact with the blockers. It is going to be weak.

:15:10. > :15:14.You were a cornerback, this guy is up in the line of scrimmage a lot,

:15:15. > :15:18.he will have to take on the guards with his forearms. It will be

:15:19. > :15:22.difficult for him. He has a plate in it and then there will be a carbon

:15:23. > :15:30.fibre cast on it and he will also have painkillers. Yeah! The arm will

:15:31. > :15:33.be protected. My biggest issue was actually running and being able to

:15:34. > :15:39.use the armed Tehran because that was quite painful. The first part of

:15:40. > :15:42.Super Bowl 50, they are going to introduce the crowd to some of the

:15:43. > :15:54.MVPs of the last 50 Super Bowls. We would like to honour the elite

:15:55. > :16:07.group of players who have earned one of the most prestigious honours in

:16:08. > :16:16.all of sports, Super Bowl MVP. For the Green Bay Packers, Bart Starr

:23:32. > :23:49.Super Bowl XLV for the Green Bay Packers, Aaron Rodgers! From Super

:23:50. > :23:53.Bowl XLVII, for the Baltimore Ravens, Joe Flacco. And from Super

:23:54. > :24:07.Bowl XLVIII for the Seattle Seahawks, Malcolm Smith. Ladies and

:24:08. > :24:14.gentlemen, your Super Bowl MVPs. APPLAUSE

:24:15. > :24:20.Amazing to see them all together. A fair to say that those fans were

:24:21. > :24:25.not impressed with Tom Brady! Let's look at the Denver Broncos, a

:24:26. > :24:30.record equalling eighth Super Bowl, this afternoon, at Santa Clara, it

:24:31. > :24:31.could be Peyton Manning's last ever game in the NFL.

:24:32. > :24:40.They need it to be a good one. I think he has a lot of strength

:24:41. > :24:45.committees played a lot of big football games. He's been a leader

:24:46. > :24:55.throughout his entire career. He's very bright, and at this point, for

:24:56. > :25:00.us, in the season, through the year, I see more positives, it's been

:25:01. > :25:07.positive for him, we look forward to him leading the football team once

:25:08. > :25:12.again. There's no question, when you play in a Super Bowl, that you are

:25:13. > :25:15.playing for your team-mates, you are playing for an organisation, and you

:25:16. > :25:23.are playing for your family commit your friends, for your hometown. For

:25:24. > :25:30.your high school team, your university -- your family and your

:25:31. > :25:34.friends. Every single TV channel has debated

:25:35. > :25:39.the future of Peyton Manning over the last week.

:25:40. > :25:44.If, Jason, people say one of his biggest skills, if not his biggest

:25:45. > :25:49.scale, is reading the game and the opposition, just on the snap. He

:25:50. > :25:54.should still be able to do it today? Absolutely. He's brilliant at it. At

:25:55. > :25:59.the line of scrimmage, at offense, he's always getting the right play,

:26:00. > :26:05.that is the key to be successful. And yet, age means his arm strength

:26:06. > :26:09.is not what it was? Absolutely, but mentally, he is an unmatched in the

:26:10. > :26:13.NFL, mentally committees like a computer on the football field.

:26:14. > :26:17.Father Time catches up with us all. He's a bit weaker, but he can still

:26:18. > :26:21.make plays. Since they put him back in the line-up committee had a

:26:22. > :26:27.terrible season, they took him out and put him in, he's been a game

:26:28. > :26:30.manager. He's made all of the right throes, he's only thrown one ball in

:26:31. > :26:34.three games that may have been intercepted, he's done what they

:26:35. > :26:41.needed to do to let the defense win games. We've had so many arguments.

:26:42. > :26:45.You think I don't watch the show? He hates the fact that it is a game

:26:46. > :26:53.manager. The teams are on their way out. Here at the Levi's Stadium.

:26:54. > :26:58.Beginning with the Panthers. He's been selected to the pro bowl,

:26:59. > :27:04.he was not going to miss this. Quarterback Josh Norman, he hit his

:27:05. > :27:13.first, four interceptions this season, second most on the team. The

:27:14. > :27:19.Carolina Panthers, getting set, you see Steph Curry. Of the Golden State

:27:20. > :27:25.Warriors. By that big drum, why is he a Carolina Panthers fan? His

:27:26. > :27:29.father was a basketball player for the Charlotte Hornets come he lives

:27:30. > :27:34.in that area, he lives in the Bay Area and he keeps to his roots with

:27:35. > :27:38.the Carolina Panthers. He went to college in the state of North

:27:39. > :27:43.Carolina as well. Once a Carolina fan, always a Carolina fan! Now, he

:27:44. > :27:49.is a number one celebrity fan for them. He is going to pound the drum

:27:50. > :27:54.as the Panthers get set for their introduction here at the Levi's

:27:55. > :28:00.Stadium, getting set for Super Bowl 50. He is Jim Nantz. -- here is. It

:28:01. > :28:17.is the Carolina Panthers. The blood, sweat and tears... It's

:28:18. > :28:22.all worth it. Everything is earned, nothing is given to you. It is the

:28:23. > :28:26.ultimate prize. This is our time. Just having fun! Can you believe it?

:28:27. > :28:35.There will be struggles and things that don't go your way. Keep

:28:36. > :28:47.pounding! The NFC champions are the Carolina Panthers!

:28:48. > :29:30.And now, let's meet the AFC champions...

:29:31. > :29:35.The Denver Broncos! It's been the ultimate team of the season. I think

:29:36. > :29:40.we really embody what 18 years. This is everything we've been working for

:29:41. > :29:46.since we were young. -- what a team is. A lot of blood, sweat and tears.

:29:47. > :29:52.One game, one opportunity. Touchdown! We are coming for you. We

:29:53. > :29:57.want to win as a team and for each other. This is the reason why we are

:29:58. > :30:00.here. We are going to the Super Bowl! Everyone has to do their part,

:30:01. > :30:34.that is the only way we have a chance to win.

:30:35. > :30:39.Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos appearing in the Super Bowl

:30:40. > :30:45.for the second time in the last three years. The AFC champions,

:30:46. > :30:50.obviously disappointed a couple of years ago, can they win it this

:30:51. > :30:57.year? Let's take a look at their Road to Super Bowl 50.

:30:58. > :31:01.STUDIO: Let's go back to game management. Why do you have such a

:31:02. > :31:05.problem when it is described as a strength of Peyton Manning now? I

:31:06. > :31:11.think Peyton Manning is the greatest quarterback of all time. As a game

:31:12. > :31:14.manager, like Alex Smith, a quarterback who doesn't push the

:31:15. > :31:18.ball down the field, which he doesn't any more, but I just don't

:31:19. > :31:22.like that title for Peyton Manning, because he is my hero and I think of

:31:23. > :31:27.him as the best quarterback of all time. We talk about the pressure in

:31:28. > :31:30.the build-up, the pressure on Cam Newton in his first Super Bowl,

:31:31. > :31:35.would you say the pressure is also on Peyton Manning given his Super

:31:36. > :31:39.Bowl record? Absolutely, and that is why the game is so big for him, he

:31:40. > :31:44.hasn't had the best record in the Super Bowl, so he needs to be on his

:31:45. > :31:47.A game and do what he does well to get the offence in the great

:31:48. > :31:53.position. He doesn't have to win the game for them. When you have looked

:31:54. > :32:00.at them pre-match, can you tell who is more relaxed, Newton or Manning?

:32:01. > :32:05.Carolina are the younger team, so it is surprising that they are moral

:32:06. > :32:09.axed. They have players who have been to the Super Bowl. -- be on

:32:10. > :32:16.more relaxed. They are acting like it is just another game for them.

:32:17. > :32:21.Von Miller was actually drafted by Denver second in the same draft that

:32:22. > :32:27.Carolina picked Cam Newton first. Von Miller had an exceptional time

:32:28. > :32:33.pass rushing against the New England Patriots. It would be so easy

:32:34. > :32:38.against the Panthers. What he can do is chase down Cam Newton from the

:32:39. > :32:43.edge. If Newton breaks the pocket, Miller has the speed to chase him

:32:44. > :32:51.down from behind, and not many pass rushers can do that. Definitely the

:32:52. > :32:55.best pass rusher on the field. He will be instrumental in disrupting

:32:56. > :33:01.the Carolina Panthers offence. They have had two weeks at Denver under

:33:02. > :33:06.Wade Phillips to get it right for Carolina. I want to see what they do

:33:07. > :33:15.for the zone read to stop Cam Newton. The guys have rehearsed it,

:33:16. > :33:19.I'm ready to see it. Most teams when they play Carolina, they play zone,

:33:20. > :33:26.so the defensive backs can see Cam Newton. Denver plays will most

:33:27. > :33:32.always man-to-man. If Wade stays with man-to-man, he can use somebody

:33:33. > :33:36.else to stay on Cam Newton, one of the linebackers inside may be, and

:33:37. > :33:39.not worry about it. He only rushed three or four against New England,

:33:40. > :33:46.he might be able to get away with the same against Carolina. Instead

:33:47. > :33:49.of running for the running back, directly at Cam Newton, hit him a

:33:50. > :33:55.couple of times and let him know, this is the Super Bowl, take away

:33:56. > :34:00.the zone read. That is what I have to do. They can't do what they did

:34:01. > :34:07.against New England and Brady, against Cam Newton on the Panthers?

:34:08. > :34:12.No, Cam Newton will expose it all day. They have to be disciplined in

:34:13. > :34:17.the defensive assignments, they just can't let him loose. Every time

:34:18. > :34:22.Peyton Manning has been in the Super Bowl, the best ranked defense he had

:34:23. > :34:28.was 18th, he has now come in with the number one ranked defense. A

:34:29. > :34:32.couple of years ago, the Ravens have the number one defense against

:34:33. > :34:37.Denver, overwhelmingly the number one offensive team. I'm not sure

:34:38. > :34:42.Carolina is the number-1 offence because the defense helps them out

:34:43. > :34:46.so much field position. But in Super Bowl XXIV, Denver had the top

:34:47. > :34:51.defense in the league are co-ordinated by Wade Phillips, Gary

:34:52. > :34:55.Kubiak, with John Elway, playing against the 49ers with the number

:34:56. > :35:05.one offence, and the 49ers killed them. Offence wins games, defense

:35:06. > :35:08.wins championships. 40 out of 49 Super Bowls have been won by the

:35:09. > :35:14.team with the better defensive record. Two members of the defence

:35:15. > :35:21.in the studio! Lady Gaga shortly, after America the Beautiful.

:35:22. > :35:35.Leading the chorus today is captain Curtis Kinsey. To sign America the

:35:36. > :35:40.Beautiful and the national anthem, we are pleased to welcome Golden

:35:41. > :35:51.Globe winner and academy award winner Marlee Matlin.

:37:59. > :38:06.drummers from the United States Army band.

:38:07. > :38:16.To honour America and perform our national anthem, please welcome

:38:17. > :38:26.Academy Awards nominee and six time Grammy winner Lady Gaga.

:41:22. > :41:25.And the fly past as well. If by any chance you can't be near a telly

:41:26. > :41:32.later, you can get play-by-play commentary on five live this

:41:37. > :41:44.are on five live. Anything you need to get in touch with us, send us a

:41:45. > :41:49.tweet, #BBC Super Bowl, and I will put your questions to Mike, Jason

:41:50. > :41:53.and Osi over the next few hours. We are not far away from the coin toss

:41:54. > :41:58.at the Levi's Stadium. Let's take a look at the coaches. Ron Rivera has

:41:59. > :42:03.won coach of the year. He has seen it and done it in the Super Bowl as

:42:04. > :42:08.a player, an assistant and now a head coach. For the last couple of

:42:09. > :42:12.years, this has been the best NFL coach. He doesn't have the most

:42:13. > :42:19.talented football team but he makes the most out of his players. A great

:42:20. > :42:25.guy. Even in that answer, you had a little dig at him! I'm just saying!

:42:26. > :42:28.Look at the roster from top to bottom, they are not quite as

:42:29. > :42:34.talented as everybody but they keep on winning. NFC South, they win. The

:42:35. > :42:38.divisional championship. What he has done with the football team, and you

:42:39. > :42:42.have to give credit to Dave Gettleman also, he has been

:42:43. > :42:48.outstanding. Dave came from the Giants. They left things intact when

:42:49. > :42:52.they came in. A lot of times they will brush the team away, but they

:42:53. > :42:56.left the team intact and they let Ron Rivera coach what they had

:42:57. > :43:02.already. We will have plenty of time to talk about Denver and Gary Kubiak

:43:03. > :43:07.in a while. Loads of time to chat over the evening. Looking down

:43:08. > :43:12.below, the Broncos and the Panthers, and their team leaders, they are out

:43:13. > :43:16.there getting ready for the coin toss by referee Clete Blakeman. We

:43:17. > :43:21.hope he has more success with this coin than he did in the divisional

:43:22. > :43:25.game between Arizona and Green Bay, he went to cross the coin for

:43:26. > :43:30.overtime and it went straight up in the air and landed, it did not slip.

:43:31. > :43:36.Are you nervous at this stage as a player? A little bit. As soon as

:43:37. > :43:39.they snapped the ball and you make contact, everything goes at the

:43:40. > :43:45.window and it turns into a regular game. Jason, you are ready to go

:43:46. > :43:49.now, you just want this over. All the Super Bowl hoopla, all of that

:43:50. > :43:53.stuff is out of the window, let's play football and you are ready and

:43:54. > :43:59.prepared. I always like what Mike Tyson said, do you think your

:44:00. > :44:05.opponent has a plan? He said, everyone has a plan until you punch

:44:06. > :44:12.them in the face! We are ready, here is the coin toss for Super Bowl 50.

:44:13. > :44:19.Please welcome the Captains. For the Carolina Panthers and the Denver

:44:20. > :44:24.Broncos. Coin toss participants, honorary captains, your Bay Area

:44:25. > :44:37.Super Bowl MVPs, from the Raiders, Fred Biletnikoff. Jim Plunkett. And

:44:38. > :44:48.Marcus Allen. From the 49ers, Steve Young. Jerry Rice. And Joe Montana.

:44:49. > :45:04.Good afternoon gentlemen, welcome to Super Bowl 50. Congratulations

:45:05. > :45:12.Carolina and Denver. Assisting me today, Super Bowl MVP Joe Montana.

:45:13. > :45:19.Today's coin, on the gold sign is head 's, on the silverside is Tales.

:45:20. > :45:29.Cash gold side. Carolina, as visiting team, it's your call. Tales

:45:30. > :45:37.is the call. It is tails, Carolina wins the toss. You want to kick? Put

:45:38. > :45:45.your men there. Carolina wins the toss. Denver will receive. Good

:45:46. > :45:54.luck, gentlemen. Denver will get the ball first. This award recognises a

:45:55. > :45:59.player for excellence on and off the field. Named after Walton patron of

:46:00. > :46:04.the Chicago Bears in 1989. Recent winners include Thomas Davis of the

:46:05. > :46:11.Collider Panthers. And Charles Tillman of the Carolina Panthers. He

:46:12. > :46:13.presented this year 's award winner. Now, it is my honour to introduce

:46:14. > :46:36.the 2015 NFL award to ... Name the award winner.

:46:37. > :46:47.With the Baltimore Ravens, the foundation was established in 2004.

:46:48. > :46:51.Congratulations. Gary Kubiak, in his first year of head coach for the

:46:52. > :46:56.Denver Broncos, trying to win. Super Bowl 50. We take a look at

:46:57. > :47:00.some of the key players. Let's have a quick word as we get

:47:01. > :47:04.ready for kick-off on Gary Kubiak. And the job that he's done? The

:47:05. > :47:09.interesting thing, when you thought he was hired, it was going to be a

:47:10. > :47:12.bad fit with Peyton Manning, he runs an offense that is contrary to

:47:13. > :47:19.everything at Peyton Manning has done. He was a through his career.

:47:20. > :47:24.In the last few weeks, it seems that they've meshed it well. Leading

:47:25. > :47:29.Peyton Manning in a shotgun where he prefers to be, where he can see more

:47:30. > :47:38.things happening. You get more stretch running and blocking, which

:47:39. > :47:42.I hate. It is the trademark of his organisation. It is a borderline

:47:43. > :47:48.legal technique. Here we go, we are ready for Super Bowl 50. The count

:47:49. > :47:52.board has gone down to zero. Let's get ready for Super Bowl 50,

:47:53. > :48:00.Carolina to kick-off. ANNOUNCER: at the Levi's Stadium.

:48:01. > :48:03.Carolina won the coin toss. You can start the game or in the

:48:04. > :48:07.second half, they've chosen to put defense on the team first.

:48:08. > :48:15.Cam Newton will start first. Cam Newton will get a crack. Rather than

:48:16. > :48:23.wearing their home teams, they chose to wear white because of the results

:48:24. > :48:27.at Super Bowl where they wore orange in the past. Last time, it was a

:48:28. > :48:32.blue jersey when John Elway made his exit in the Super Bowl. They decided

:48:33. > :48:37.to go with white, last time they wore orange, it was 43-8 in the game

:48:38. > :48:44.against Seattle. Carolina wearing black home jerseys. Getting set to

:48:45. > :48:55.kick it off for the Carolina Panthers. Andre Caldwell. Back deep.

:48:56. > :49:05.And, Super Bowl 50 is underway. Coldwell takes it on the run. Shaq

:49:06. > :49:10.Thompson on the tackle. Peyton Manning in his 18th year at the

:49:11. > :49:19.University of tenancy, the first overall pick. The 1998 draft --

:49:20. > :49:23.Tennessee. The 17 interceptions, leading the international football

:49:24. > :49:28.league. He's dealt with a foot injury, net issues, but here he is,

:49:29. > :49:46.in his fourth Super Bowl. -- neck. Tackled by Coleman and Harper. A

:49:47. > :49:50.game of 18 on 1st down. You can see Peyton Manning is sadly, an

:49:51. > :49:57.excellent block by the running back. They wanted to put pressure on

:49:58. > :50:03.Peyton Manning right away. Playing on, that's exactly what he did,

:50:04. > :50:10.getting help from the blockers. 35th postseason catch, first and

:50:11. > :50:16.10th for Denver. Peyton Manning gets it off,

:50:17. > :50:23.completing it. Two Emmanuel Sanders. 44 after a gain of six.

:50:24. > :50:28.It certainly appears that the head coach, Gary Kubiak, and Peyton

:50:29. > :50:31.Manning, the quarterback of Denver, anticipated correctly that Carolina

:50:32. > :50:36.would come out with extra pass pressures early. They planned for it

:50:37. > :50:41.and got the calling in sequence to address it.

:50:42. > :50:49.Marius Thomas split at the bottom of the screen.

:50:50. > :50:56.Peyton Manning throwing for the third time. A pass for Daniels is

:50:57. > :51:00.incomplete. He got pressure. From Kuechly. That blue things up early

:51:01. > :51:09.on that one. Carolina were quicker to the football then Denver. --

:51:10. > :51:13.blew. They had to get rid of it before Daniels could turn around.

:51:14. > :51:17.Denver coming out, wanting to throw the football, a strategy I expected

:51:18. > :51:22.coming in, they are following it so far.

:51:23. > :51:35.Sanders is the motion man. Manning making the completion in

:51:36. > :51:41.Carolina territory to Coldwell, at the 34-yard line.

:51:42. > :51:48.If this play holds up, it looked like a massive miscommunication for

:51:49. > :51:56.the Carolina Panthers. REFEREE: Holding defense, number 24. Josh

:51:57. > :52:00.Norman, calling for the hold, it will be declined. A gain of 20 to

:52:01. > :52:10.four Carolina. Working right there against Coldwell, number 12, he

:52:11. > :52:16.thought he had help over the top, he got their way to late. And Manning

:52:17. > :52:25.found him. All throws by Manning on the opening drive. The Carolina 34.

:52:26. > :52:31.First run of the game for Anderson, inside the 30.

:52:32. > :52:36.Tackled at the 27-yard line. A gain of seven. The Carolina Panthers

:52:37. > :52:41.allowed only one opening Drive touchdown all season. The game they

:52:42. > :52:45.lost against Atlanta, that was their only loss this year.

:52:46. > :52:49.Is there an omen in that? Right now, the Carolina people had to be

:52:50. > :52:58.nervous in how Denver are moving the football down the field.

:52:59. > :53:04.Anderson 1st down inside of the 20. Tackled at the 15-yard line by

:53:05. > :53:08.Norman. How about the left side of the

:53:09. > :53:14.offensive line opening up a gain of 13? Down the left side, number 68

:53:15. > :53:20.Harris, and number 69, Mathis, back-to-back plays. Then you go to

:53:21. > :53:24.the left side of the line, Carolina asked out against the run, Denver

:53:25. > :53:27.have found weaknesses early and are exploiting it. First and ten for the

:53:28. > :53:46.Carolina 14-yard line. Thompson, Charles Johnson, adding

:53:47. > :53:51.pressure on Hillman. A loss of two. The first good play

:53:52. > :53:55.overall for Carolina in terms of setting Denver back on their heels,

:53:56. > :54:01.there's been an incompletion but on that play, they won the 1st down,

:54:02. > :54:06.for the first time, defensively they have the advantage. Blitzing early.

:54:07. > :54:20.Let's see if they can put pressure on this part of the field...

:54:21. > :54:27.Knocked away, incomplete, by Robert Maclean.

:54:28. > :54:32.That was close. It was really close. The quarterback had a great break on

:54:33. > :54:37.the football. That is a long throw for Peyton Manning from the center

:54:38. > :54:40.of the field to the outside. If he is there one step earlier, he is

:54:41. > :54:44.running down the sideline for the initial score of the game. An

:54:45. > :54:55.excellent break by the quarterback for the Carolina Panthers.

:54:56. > :55:02.Not much for CJ Anderson, Thomas Davis, out of bounds.

:55:03. > :55:08.A gain of a single, that's it. After bending, Carolina do not break. They

:55:09. > :55:12.will try a field goal attempt. I don't think Carolina could be any

:55:13. > :55:16.happier right now, in how Denver moved the ball downfield. Forcing

:55:17. > :55:20.him into a field goal attempt, and Thomas Davis is starting with a

:55:21. > :55:24.broken right forearm, playing all the way through with no apparent

:55:25. > :55:29.distress to that injury. A good sign for the Panthers.

:55:30. > :55:34.That was perfect, right down the middle. Mission accomplished for

:55:35. > :55:37.Denver on the opening drive. Moving the football down the field.

:55:38. > :55:44.They have an early lead here at Super Bowl 50.

:55:45. > :55:53.I ought to tell you that Charles Davis and Bob Papa, they are your

:55:54. > :55:57.commentators for Super Bowl 50. Wow. Absolutely, Denver moved the

:55:58. > :56:01.ball down the field effectively, Peyton Manning looked like he had a

:56:02. > :56:07.strong arm, they looked good but Carolina had to feel good. They

:56:08. > :56:11.played well. In the defense now committee would take it as a

:56:12. > :56:15.positive? That you did not concede the touchdown? Just a field goal,

:56:16. > :56:19.despite how smoothly they passed down the ball? You are glad you got

:56:20. > :56:24.out of there without a touchdown, you have two calm down, those guys

:56:25. > :56:31.seemed tense. I can understand, to be honest! I felt tents beforehand

:56:32. > :56:33.and I'm not playing. I understand, we all feel it, there is an

:56:34. > :56:46.atmosphere that they -- but they need to calm down. They

:56:47. > :56:52.came out, and they started blitzing Denver, Peyton Manning breeds the

:57:54. > :57:57.they scored a touchdown, setting the pace, getting ahead and playing from

:59:08. > :59:12.sometimes on the field, it depends what they like to do, a lot of times

:59:13. > :59:15.they are in the booths so they can see the whole game. Did you prefer

:59:16. > :59:21.the defensive coordinator to be up on high and get a better view of the

:00:23. > :00:27.he cooked up for Cam Newton and the Panthers offence, which led the

:00:28. > :00:30.National Football League in scoring, 31 points per game, led by the

:00:45. > :00:52.let Cam Newton have a play action to get things going.

:00:53. > :00:57.Newton goes to a shotgun set. He has Jonathan Stewart, a talented running

:00:58. > :01:20.back, to his right. Danny Trevathan got pressure. TJ

:01:21. > :01:26.Ward was involved in the play. Stewart. Both of them hurt against

:01:27. > :01:34.New England, they want to test them early.

:01:35. > :01:41.A lot of the Denver fans are in the end zone to the right. So you wonder

:01:42. > :01:50.if the noise is a bit of a factor for Newton. Newton misfires. He had

:01:51. > :01:57.a wide open receiver, Brown. Missed him. Early in a ball game like this,

:01:58. > :02:01.adrenaline is going to be spiked. He threw a pretty good fast ball, it

:02:02. > :02:06.almost appeared as if the receiver was worried about running out of

:02:07. > :02:13.bounds, so he slowed up and didn't time it. In the regular season,

:02:14. > :02:21.Carolina hit third-downs at 42%, in the postseason so far, 55%. Most of

:02:44. > :02:49.Talib, the cornerback. Cam Newton went to his number one target, Greg

:02:50. > :02:54.Olsen, the tight end, but no yards after the catch. Because of that,

:02:55. > :03:00.they are going to have to put the ball away. Advantage to the Denver

:03:01. > :03:07.defence on the first possession. Talib didn't let Olsen move an inch,

:03:08. > :03:13.and Carolina will have to punt the ball after their first possession.

:03:14. > :03:17.They have asked for a measure. If we know anything about Carolina, they

:03:18. > :03:21.are not afraid to go for it if they think they can pick it up on a short

:03:22. > :03:25.yardage play. I think they will kick it away after seeing that distance.

:03:26. > :03:36.I would be surprised to see them go for it. Trevathan, and then Talib

:03:37. > :03:38.with the wonderful job tackling Olsen to make sure he didn't get the

:03:39. > :03:57.necessary yard. Nortman on the punt. Sanders is

:03:58. > :04:03.back. There is some swirling wind in Levi's Stadium.

:04:04. > :04:14.A good high kick. A fair catch signal by Sanders at the 23-yard

:05:09. > :05:23.Roy is here as well? I know Robbie Keane. He is doing preseason work,

:05:24. > :05:30.the lazy salt! -- sod! Do you have a favourite? Because I have been a

:05:31. > :05:33.Peyton Manning fan for a long time, everybody outside Carolina might be

:05:34. > :05:38.supporting him today, although I fancy Carolina to win... I am

:05:39. > :05:43.surprised that they have come out throwing. What a great start, to get

:05:44. > :05:48.some points on the board. A couple of completions. I am talking as if I

:05:49. > :05:55.know what I'm talking about! You do! You are well schooled! Somebody told

:05:56. > :06:01.me before I came in! Back to the game.

:06:02. > :06:09.Peyton Manning, driving his team down the field on the opening drive,

:06:10. > :06:15.very efficient, four of six, 40 seven yards. The first time Carolina

:06:16. > :06:22.has trailed Indian tyre postseason. -- has trailed in the entire

:06:23. > :06:24.postseason. They did a good job using the aggressiveness of the

:06:25. > :06:33.Carolina defense against them. Denver picked it up and put it on

:06:34. > :06:35.them early. Manning opened up with four consecutive passes. Let's see

:06:36. > :06:55.what the second series brings. Sanders on the slip screen. Bumped

:06:56. > :07:02.down at the 32. Thomas Davis with the tackle after a gain of seven.

:07:03. > :07:05.Denver loves to use the wide receivers for short passes and allow

:07:06. > :07:10.them to get the yards after the catch to advantage the football.

:07:11. > :07:14.Their extra receivers are counted on as blockers. Cody Latimer did

:07:15. > :07:25.exactly that in the last play to allow Sanders to get up the field.

:07:26. > :07:34.Stopped after a gain of a yard. Kuechly got the first hit on him, a

:07:35. > :07:38.gain of two. It's going to be an interesting call for Denver. Third

:07:39. > :07:43.and short. Ordinarily you would think of that as a running play, but

:07:44. > :07:45.the way they run the football, although they have done well at

:07:46. > :07:51.early, I would be surprised if they don't throw it to try to pick up the

:07:52. > :08:01.1st down. They need a yard and a half.

:08:02. > :08:09.Short of the 1st down, it appears. Robert McClain and Thomas Davis

:08:10. > :08:12.shutdown CJ Anderson. A big-time tackle for Denver by Aqib Talib not

:08:13. > :08:23.letting Greg Olsen picked up a 1st down. As you describe, two guys

:08:24. > :08:32.collaborated, McClain and Davis, and this time Denver can't convert on

:08:33. > :08:33.third and short. Colquitt to punt, the dangerous Ginn back for

:08:34. > :08:42.Carolina. He can't outrun the coverage. What a

:08:43. > :08:50.job by Webster of the Broncos, making the tackle. A loss of one

:08:51. > :08:54.after a 50 yard punt. Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos with a 3-0

:09:25. > :09:33.Beyonce is more my daughter's style! Will I see Roy shaking his thing to

:09:34. > :09:40.Beyonce? Yes! Would you like to manage someone like Cam Newton? That

:09:41. > :09:44.kind of exuberance? He is a fantastic player, he is some

:09:45. > :09:49.specimen. He has taken the quarterback role to a new level.

:09:50. > :09:55.Absolutely. He obviously has a very big ego... But he looks like he is

:09:56. > :10:00.having fun, which is really important in sport. Maybe we don't

:10:01. > :10:04.see it often enough. You are probably right. He has had a super

:10:05. > :10:08.season, really fantastic, and he is letting everyone know about it. From

:10:09. > :10:12.a coaching and management perspective, have you ever spoken to

:10:46. > :10:50.possession for the Carolina Panthers coming up, they went three and out

:10:51. > :10:57.on the opening drive. Cam Newton trying to loosen up a bit. He had

:10:58. > :11:02.one errant throw, one to Olsen that was completed, just short of a 1st

:11:03. > :11:06.down. Ron Rivera won the Super Bowl with the 1985 Chicago Bears, now

:11:07. > :11:11.coaching the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50. Both head coaches

:11:12. > :11:20.have participated in Super Bowls as players.

:11:21. > :11:36.Cotchery couldn't handle the fast ball from Newton. He ended up

:11:37. > :11:42.bobbling it, and the hit at the end finished the play. He is trying to

:11:43. > :11:47.get it again and Stewart with the tackle... He doesn't have enough

:11:48. > :11:52.possession, I don't think. I don't think that should be a catch. I

:11:53. > :12:00.think Ron Rivera is going to throw the challenge flag. Interesting.

:12:01. > :12:04.When the coach throws the red flag, it means he can challenge the play.

:12:05. > :12:09.Each coach has two challenges during the course of the game. If they are

:12:10. > :12:15.successful on the first two, they would get an opportunity for a

:12:16. > :12:19.third. If you lose a challenge, you are charged a time-out. Carolina is

:12:20. > :12:26.challenging the ruling on the field of an incomplete pass. Ron Rivera

:12:27. > :12:31.has challenged 14 times, he has been successful with nine of them so far

:12:32. > :12:40.this year. A challenge flag in the first quarter of Super Bowl 50.

:12:41. > :12:47.STUDIO: Take us through what Ron Rivera is challenging, Osi. The ball

:12:48. > :12:52.moved a bit. The receiver ran to the sideline and he was very confident

:12:53. > :12:56.that he caught the football. So the coaches have faith in him, trusting

:12:57. > :13:01.him that he caught the football, but it looked like it moved a little

:13:02. > :13:06.bit. He got his hand under it. That's a catch, that should be a

:13:07. > :13:12.catch. It is something that has plagued Carolina throughout the

:13:13. > :13:17.season. Yeah, they are not top-class receivers by any means, but I think

:13:18. > :13:22.when he rolls at the very end, he may lose the ball. They make a big

:13:23. > :13:30.deal about holding it through the whole process. The whole motion. As

:13:31. > :13:37.he comes over, it may have hit the ground. They may rule that it wasn't

:13:38. > :13:41.a catch. The ruling on the field was an incomplete pass and they don't

:13:42. > :13:48.reverse the call and less there is conclusive evidence that it was a

:13:49. > :13:51.complete pass. That is inconclusive. Can you have a player on a soccer

:13:52. > :13:58.team who takes the Cam Newton role as a leader? Where his tone set the

:13:59. > :14:04.tone for the team? Absolutely, the fella who was too shy to come in

:14:05. > :14:08.here, Roy Keane, was a great example. Absolutely. If you have a

:14:09. > :14:13.character like that in the team, fantastic. If you have two or three,

:14:14. > :14:15.you are in business. Thank you for joining us, we wish you well in

:14:16. > :14:27.France. Thank you. STUDIO: Cotchery was wide open. Cam

:14:28. > :14:33.Newton put the ball right on him. Should have caught it clean.

:14:34. > :14:42.The safety is for Denver, Stewart, number 26, TJ Ward, number 43, they

:14:43. > :14:49.are known as big-time hitters, so they are aware. That might have

:14:50. > :14:54.played into him double catching the ball. We will see if he picked up

:14:55. > :14:58.the 1st down. 12th year, out of North Carolina State. He has

:14:59. > :15:02.possession of the ball. You have to have clear possession all the way to

:15:03. > :15:07.the ground. The hand is underneath the ball. Does not make contact with

:15:08. > :15:12.the ground. Does it touch the ground? He secures it against his

:15:13. > :15:16.body and it's not moving. It doesn't touch the ground there so it should

:15:17. > :15:21.be a catch for Cotchery. Clete Blakeman. After review, the ruling

:15:22. > :15:27.on the field stands. It is an incomplete pass. Carolina will be

:15:28. > :15:30.charged with its first time-out. I think they want to stay with the

:15:31. > :15:34.call on the field because there was too much going on. Unless it is

:15:35. > :15:39.absolutely conclusive, they didn't want to overturn the call. Ron

:15:40. > :15:43.Rivera took a shot early, because that would have changed field

:15:44. > :15:48.position in a big way for the Carolina offence. They couldn't tell

:15:49. > :15:56.from that spot that the ball touched the ground on the second time when

:15:57. > :16:01.he rolled over. He kept it off the ground. That should have been a

:16:02. > :16:07.catch, quite honestly. They ended up missing that one for Carolina. Now

:16:08. > :16:15.2nd 10. That is the loss of a time-out.

:16:16. > :16:22.Stewart has nowhere to go, pulled down at the ankles by Derek Wolfe.

:16:23. > :16:27.The way that Stewart got over, that had to hurt the running back. Caught

:16:28. > :16:38.in the pile. He missed games down the stretch, he had an injured

:16:39. > :16:39.ankle. Stewart, hobbling off. Colbert is in on this 3rd long

:16:40. > :16:58.situation. Under pressure, fumbling the

:16:59. > :17:02.football, and recovered for a touchdown from Denver! I think it

:17:03. > :17:10.was a Von Miller who stripped them, Jackson gets the touchdown.

:17:11. > :17:14.The rush came from the frontside, you would think Cam Newton would be

:17:15. > :17:21.able to see it but he did not get it, holding the ball too long. Right

:17:22. > :17:25.in your face, number 58, Miller, beat the 74. Not content with just

:17:26. > :17:29.hitting the quarterback, he strips the ball clean. It looks like

:17:30. > :17:38.Jackson comes up with it in the end zone for the Denver Broncos. What a

:17:39. > :17:43.play by Miller! What a postseason by Von Miller. He's been an absolute

:17:44. > :17:48.force, I don't know if that is doing him justice, he's not been watched

:17:49. > :17:53.very often in these playoffs. McManus for the extra point...

:17:54. > :17:58.From 33 yards. Down the middle and the challenge that appeared to have

:17:59. > :18:03.been a catch for Cotchery, rolled incomplete, setting up the second

:18:04. > :18:08.and 3rd long, leading to the Von Miller sack and a fumble of the

:18:09. > :18:14.defects of touchdown. What is the strength of the Denver defense? --

:18:15. > :18:18.sense of touchdown. When you set up 3rd long, it allows those guys to

:18:19. > :18:23.turn loose. That is exactly what happened. As you pointed out, it was

:18:24. > :18:29.not a catch, or was ruled not a catch, that hurt them. Second and

:18:30. > :18:34.long, but to start off, they hardly get anything. 3rd long, here comes

:18:35. > :18:38.the pass rush, getting to Cam Newton and getting the points. When Denver

:18:39. > :18:48.were in the Super Bowl II years ago they were manhandled by Seattle. In

:18:49. > :18:52.horse racing terms, they fly out the gate, they set the pace early,

:18:53. > :18:56.leading from the front as they did against New England in the

:18:57. > :19:00.championship game, the exact formula they want to follow, putting

:19:01. > :19:12.pressure on Carolina. Let's see if they can handle it.

:19:13. > :19:21.Joe Webb to the 22-yard line. That is where Carolina will start their

:19:22. > :19:26.third offensive possession. A 24 yard return. Cam Newton would

:19:27. > :19:31.fumble, recovered by Jackson for a tight down.

:19:32. > :19:36.Denver at a 10-0 lead. No time to panic. It's early in the

:19:37. > :19:43.game. The only time this year that Carolina were down, that was against

:19:44. > :19:49.Seattle, down 14. They've been frontrunners the entire season.

:19:50. > :19:53.As Carolina, you don't make about entirely changing your offense but

:19:54. > :19:58.you have to gain yardage on first and 2nd down to stay out of a 3rd

:19:59. > :20:08.long yardage situation. Fozzy Whittaker is the tailback.

:20:09. > :20:15.Shoved out of bounds by TJ Ward after a gain of 16.

:20:16. > :20:22.You see what two weeks off of games does to you? That is a counter to

:20:23. > :20:26.what they normally do. Cam Newton fakes it, keeping the ball to

:20:27. > :20:37.himself all year long, now they add an option play with Fozzy Whittaker.

:20:38. > :20:44.The ball is loose, a scramble for it. No signal from the officials.

:20:45. > :20:51.Now, we see that it is the Carolina ball.

:20:52. > :20:57.A sloppy start for Carolina. You see the effects of the injury,

:20:58. > :21:05.watching him limp off in the last season, now, Fozzy Whittaker is

:21:06. > :21:13.beginning to get extra playing time. The running back.

:21:14. > :21:21.2nd down date... For the Panthers. -- 2nd 8.

:21:22. > :21:30.Newton... Wide open, overshot him. I think he felt the pressure, he was

:21:31. > :21:34.in the pocket, he had him there. TJ Ward was down there, going to 21,

:21:35. > :21:39.instead of putting touch on it, you felt the pressure and tried to rifle

:21:40. > :21:44.it into the gap. He was not able to get it done. You put a touch on the

:21:45. > :21:49.pass, his receiver might still be running.

:21:50. > :21:55.Two balls that Newton has overthrown. Stewart remains on the

:21:56. > :21:58.Carolina bench after hurting his angle on the previous series.

:21:59. > :22:21.-- ankle. When Denver is allowed to load up

:22:22. > :22:28.and bring people, it they get after them pretty well. The running back

:22:29. > :22:32.tries to step up and make a play, it was Ed Dickson, number 84, DeMarcus

:22:33. > :22:36.Ware brand through him, as you noted, that pressure forced it him

:22:37. > :22:40.into Stewart, he ended up getting finished by the number 95. That

:22:41. > :22:48.pressure got to him in a big way. There was a flag downfield. It could

:22:49. > :22:54.be defensive holding, they don't look happy with what they've heard

:22:55. > :23:02.from the officials. Defense, number 21, a 15-yard penalty, 1st down

:23:03. > :23:08.Carolina. Aqib Talib, a taunting penalty. Instead of Carolina having

:23:09. > :23:14.a punt at the football, Aqib Talib's penalty gives Carolina a 1st down.

:23:15. > :23:19.That is where the coaches talk all the time. Two weeks off about

:23:20. > :23:24.holding your poise, staying with the game. Not worrying about getting

:23:25. > :23:30.into the other team. Aqib Talib, his team had a good play, getting the

:23:31. > :23:32.football back-up ten, and instead he decides to throw extra verbal stuff

:23:33. > :23:49.there, he gets flags. Karoly Sir Stan ten from the 45. Fozzy

:23:50. > :23:52.Whittaker bounces ahead for two -- first and ten.

:23:53. > :23:57.Jackson on the tackle for Denver. With that injury to Stewart, the

:23:58. > :24:01.running back for Carolina, if it is significant and we don't see him

:24:02. > :24:06.back since he went off, it hurts their ability to be explosive in the

:24:07. > :24:10.run game. Tolbert is a battering Ram, strong runner, not someone who

:24:11. > :24:21.breaks big plays, that changes the focus on what they do.

:24:22. > :24:36.Corey Brown takes it across midfield for the Denver 49, gaining four.

:24:37. > :24:41.Third and fourth for Carolina, a couple of huge plays in this game

:24:42. > :24:46.already, a replay that did not go the way of Carolina, a challenge on

:24:47. > :24:50.the contrary. Aqib Talib with a possible penalty

:24:51. > :24:53.that has kept the possession of life for Cam Newton and the Panthers,

:24:54. > :25:02.trying to stabilise things here at the first.

:25:03. > :25:11.Cotchery cannot handle it. Bradley Roby on the coverage. That is

:25:12. > :25:16.exactly what he could not handle it, the cover by Bradley Roby, the

:25:17. > :25:20.nickelback, number 29 sitting on the short route, driving underneath and

:25:21. > :25:24.taking a chance, instead of going up field to make play. He goes

:25:25. > :25:28.underneath and gets enough on the football to make a difficult catch,

:25:29. > :25:31.pulling him away when he tries to second catch it. Nice play by

:25:32. > :25:48.Bradley Roby. Norwood called for a fair catch at

:25:49. > :25:52.the 13-yard line. Peyton Manning is back to work. A defensive touchdown.

:25:53. > :26:03.10-0 here at the first. Take us through the Broncos

:26:04. > :26:06.touchdown, and what Von Miller did to Cam Newton.

:26:07. > :26:11.This is outstanding football player, you see him come off the edge, not

:26:12. > :26:15.only does he get the sack but knocks the ball out of the hands of the

:26:16. > :26:19.quarterback, covered by Jackson for a touchdown, incredible. He dips

:26:20. > :26:23.around the edge, knocking the ball from the quarterback's hands. This

:26:24. > :26:27.is a problem for the Panthers, putting them in those situations,

:26:28. > :26:31.they are not going to be able to contain Von Miller and DeMarcus

:26:32. > :26:36.Ware, we've seen results of that situation here. Miller strips the

:26:37. > :26:42.football, incredible play. Will that be their weakness, if they get a

:26:43. > :26:46.bird and long in particular, they will be one rubble to the pass rush?

:26:47. > :26:51.Yes, the defensive backs, they get their hands on receivers, disrupting

:26:52. > :26:57.them, giving pass rush is time. A recipe for success. We saw it went

:26:58. > :27:01.markers where nearly got him before Stewart before the penalty was

:27:02. > :27:07.called? What was happening there, they had guys waiting, if there is

:27:08. > :27:11.pressure, they send in more guys. It is a rush. We are waiting to see

:27:12. > :27:19.what happens and they are coming in, it will make you to's life

:27:20. > :27:23.unbearable. -- it will make Cam Newton's life unbearable. He is

:27:24. > :27:27.pressure rushing them, they bring it to the line of scrimmage. These guys

:27:28. > :27:33.are coming into the rush, it makes it hard for them to get DeMarcus

:27:34. > :27:38.Ware and Von Miller. The Denver Broncos with a lead over the

:27:39. > :27:45.Panthers, 10-0. Charles Davis has joined us. The Panthers have not got

:27:46. > :27:49.any points on the board. Newton fumbled the ball away which led to a

:27:50. > :27:55.touchdown. For Denver. Terry Bradshaw. And

:27:56. > :28:04.Asher taking in Super Bowl 50 from Levi's Stadium. Could there be a new

:28:05. > :28:08.duet coming out soon? -- Usher. Peyton Manning of the Broncos, going

:28:09. > :28:19.back towards Anderson. He is the tailback.

:28:20. > :28:24.Peyton Manning to Sanders, falling ahead to the 19-yard line, a gain of

:28:25. > :28:29.seven. Norman on the coverage. So many

:28:30. > :28:34.things have happened in the non-reversal of the call earlier for

:28:35. > :28:38.Carolina, they thought they had a 24 yard gain on the challenge. One

:28:39. > :28:42.thing that's happened is that Carolina have good field position in

:28:43. > :28:47.terms of defense, can they keep Denver in their own territory and

:28:48. > :28:55.gain better field positions for the offense? 2nd 3... Daniels comes

:28:56. > :29:05.in, right of the formation. Anderson, no room of the right side.

:29:06. > :29:10.Back to the line of scrimmage. Can Carolina get a three and out

:29:11. > :29:19.here? Trying to get some momentum. Those

:29:20. > :29:24.big guys inside came on short 99. Number 98, they make it hard to run

:29:25. > :29:28.the ball will stop last time, Denver tried to throw the ball, let's see

:29:29. > :29:34.if they do it again. Manning is under pressure. Sacked by Kuechly at

:29:35. > :29:43.ten, a loss of ten, the Broncos go on.

:29:44. > :29:51.Watch, coming straight at you, number 59 in black, timing it

:29:52. > :29:56.perfectly. They got both tackles to occupy the guards in the center, the

:29:57. > :29:57.gap opened, Kuechly got it to Peyton Manning before they could do

:29:58. > :30:07.anything with the football. The second straight three and out

:30:08. > :30:15.registered by the Carolina defense. A flag on the play, Ginn gets

:30:16. > :30:28.tackled. A 50 yard punt, a one yard return, but we will check the flag.

:30:29. > :30:41.Referee cleat Wakeman. During the return, illegal block in the back. A

:30:42. > :30:47.10-yard penalty from the spot of the foul. 1st down, Carolina. Teddy

:30:48. > :30:51.Williams, the back-up cornerback, called for the penalty. That will

:30:52. > :30:58.negate the good field position for Carolina to start this possession.

:30:59. > :31:04.This is where things have to start to pick up for Carolina on offence.

:31:05. > :31:09.They have to start getting more than one or two yards on 1st down to try

:31:10. > :31:14.to blunt some of the defensive pressure Denver is throwing at them.

:31:15. > :31:22.Jonathan Stewart is back in at tailback. Starting from the Carolina

:31:23. > :31:32.27. Stewart got tripped, no gain on the play. Jackson got a hit on him.

:31:33. > :31:39.Jonathan Stewart, his eighth year, out of Oregon. It seemed like Cam

:31:40. > :31:43.Newton wanted to pull the ball back and they almost ended up with a

:31:44. > :31:47.fumble. It popped three for a second. -- it popped free for a

:31:48. > :31:58.second. Newton has the 1st down to Corey

:31:59. > :32:10.Brown at the 47-yard line, a gain of 20. Brown, plenty of space with Aqib

:32:11. > :32:16.Talib, he got Talib believing he would run a deep root. A big 1st

:32:17. > :32:30.down for the Panthers. -- a deep root.

:32:31. > :32:37.Not a lot there. Jonathan Stewart actually loses a yard. Brandon

:32:38. > :32:43.Marshall on the coverage. One of the things Denver has, linebackers that

:32:44. > :32:51.can run, and we saw the speed of Trevathan there. The Denver defense,

:32:52. > :32:56.led by Von Miller, has been the story in the first quarter of Super

:32:57. > :33:01.Bowl 50. A sack and forced fumble has led to the game's only

:33:02. > :33:06.touchdown. The Broncos in front, 10-0.

:33:07. > :33:11.STUDIO: The first 15 minutes has belonged to Denver. An early field

:33:12. > :33:15.goal and then the Denver defence came up with the big play thanks to

:33:16. > :33:23.Von Miller, giving them the only touchdown. They are 10-0 up at the

:33:24. > :33:28.Levi's Stadium in San Francisco. We were just watching the last couple

:33:29. > :33:33.of Carolina offensive plays, Jason and Osi were saying that Cam Newton,

:33:34. > :33:37.who we spoke about at the start as an incredibly mobile quarterback,

:33:38. > :33:40.has to run a couple of plays himself. Their whole system is

:33:41. > :33:44.predicated on the threat of him running the football but he is just

:33:45. > :33:48.giving the ball to the running back and the defensive ends and the

:33:49. > :33:53.outside linebackers are taking away the play. He will have to pull it

:33:54. > :33:57.and run a bit to at least show the threat and loosen things up for the

:33:58. > :34:01.offence. As a fellow member of the defence, do you think the Denver

:34:02. > :34:06.defence are quite comfortable with how Carolina are playing? Oh, yeah.

:34:07. > :34:11.They are doing what they do well, running the defence and shutting

:34:12. > :34:15.them down, being aggressive in their approach, and it's working. Cam

:34:16. > :34:19.Newton is not a factor, only one significant completion. They are

:34:20. > :34:28.playing their game. Do they look nervous? Absolutely. They don't look

:34:29. > :34:33.relaxed at all. Cam wanted to run the ball. The receivers have to make

:34:34. > :34:39.plays and catch the ball. Back to Bob and Charles.

:34:40. > :34:47.COMMENTATOR: Eli Manning, two-time Super Bowl MVP. 42 and 46. With the

:34:48. > :34:52.New York Giants. Watching his brother Peyton in his fourth Super

:34:53. > :34:55.Bowl. The other brother hardly ever gets mentioned because he had to

:34:56. > :35:03.quit football early due to an injury. Sitting down in front of

:35:04. > :35:06.him. There is Archie Manning, and his wife Olivia. A long-time

:35:07. > :35:12.quarterback with the New Orleans Saints. He has watched his two sons

:35:13. > :35:19.playing in a combined six Super Bowls. If Archie Manning had played

:35:20. > :35:22.on team is similar to what Eli and Peyton had played on, we would be

:35:23. > :35:33.talking about him as one of the all-time great quarterbacks. He

:35:34. > :35:39.played in an era before free agency. You were stuck with the team you

:35:40. > :35:40.were on. The best athlete of the Manning family, Archie Manning, no

:35:41. > :35:54.doubt. Cam runs and slides to safety. Near

:35:55. > :35:57.the 1st down marker. He got back up but you can't do that as a

:35:58. > :36:07.quarterback, once you slide, you give yourself up. He sees an

:36:08. > :36:11.opening. That's what the defence calls letting him escape out the

:36:12. > :36:14.back door. They didn't close the hatch, he finds the opening and uses

:36:15. > :36:23.his legs to great advantage, and ducks down underneath the hit

:36:24. > :36:24.attended by number 43, TJ Ward. Cam's first run. 1st down for

:36:25. > :36:38.Carolina. On the right side, Olsen moved

:36:39. > :36:47.first. False start, offence, number 84, 5-yard penalty, still 1st down.

:36:48. > :36:57.Offence and Dickson, the two tight end set. Fozzy Whittaker checks in

:36:58. > :36:58.for Carolina. First and 15th. Olsen has been outstanding, two

:36:59. > :37:16.consecutive Pro Bowls for Carolina. Newton had time. He will take it to

:37:17. > :37:22.the sideline. Knocked out of bounds by Von Miller. A bit of pushing and

:37:23. > :37:29.shoving on the sidelines. Someone jumped in, it looked like Ealy,

:37:30. > :37:34.number 94, jumping in to help the quarterback. When Cam Newton feels

:37:35. > :37:38.pressure and he wants to escape, I don't know that he's going to hang

:37:39. > :37:43.in the pocket quite as long now. He is going to take advantage of some

:37:44. > :37:46.openings, use his legs to loosen things up against Denver, hurt them

:37:47. > :37:50.a little bit and pick up yardage, as opposed to staying in the pocket and

:37:51. > :38:00.taking some big hits and maybe some sacks. 23 yards rushing on his last

:38:01. > :38:06.two attempts, Newton. Stewart is short of the 1st down by a yard.

:38:07. > :38:11.Again Trevathan got the hit on him. Danny Trevathan in his fourth year

:38:12. > :38:18.out of Kentucky. You know what we haven't seen so far? Designed

:38:19. > :38:22.quarterback runs for Cam Newton. The two we have had have been off pass

:38:23. > :38:31.plays where he hasn't found a receiver.

:38:32. > :38:53.Newton has Olsen for the 1st down. Out of bounds at the 15-yard line.

:38:54. > :38:59.Trevathan on the chase. Olsen with a gain of 19. How about Mike Shula,

:39:00. > :39:04.who calls the plays? Third and short, they showed run to the right,

:39:05. > :39:09.but watch Olsen, cutting back underneath against all the traffic.

:39:10. > :39:13.They used the flow of Denver going to that side and they go back

:39:14. > :39:20.against them, Newton finds him for a really nice play. The Panthers led

:39:21. > :39:25.the NFL in touchdown percentage in the red zone this year. That is the

:39:26. > :39:38.distance inside the 20-yard line. Newton had Brown, wrestled out of

:39:39. > :39:43.bounds. A flag comes in. Talib is going to get called for a facemask,

:39:44. > :39:51.which doesn't really matter because it's half the distance. A gain of

:39:52. > :39:57.13. The last two pass plays, they have come back against it twice.

:39:58. > :40:02.Personal foul, grabbing the facemask, defence, number 21, half

:40:03. > :40:07.the distance to the goal. Everyone is looking to the right and they cut

:40:08. > :40:15.back on a crossing route to Corey Brown and Tillman gets every bit of

:40:16. > :40:23.his facemask. -- and Talib gets every bit of his facemask. He didn't

:40:24. > :40:32.even try to let go. Second personal foul on Talib in the first half.

:40:33. > :40:39.Stewart goes a born for the touchdown! How a line is on the

:40:40. > :40:45.board in Super Bowl 50. -- goes airborne. Carolina is on the board

:40:46. > :40:55.in Super Bowl 50. Jonathan Stewart with a 1-yard run

:40:56. > :41:09.capping a 73 yard drive, nine plays. Right over the top, vaults into the

:41:10. > :41:18.end zone, his ankle appears to be OK. Look at Trai Turner, number 70.

:41:19. > :41:25.Number 74, Williams number 60, out in front.

:41:26. > :41:33.Gano for the extra point, 33 yards, these are not automatic any more. He

:41:34. > :41:43.squeezes it inside the upright. There is a flag on the play. I think

:41:44. > :41:49.Denver was in the neutral zone. One of their rushers on the extra point,

:41:50. > :41:56.I think, came across the line. Carolina stabilises with a 73 yard

:41:57. > :42:04.drive, Newton used his legs, two Rushes for 23. Offside, defense,

:42:05. > :42:14.number 21. 5-yard penalty on the kick-off. Aqib Talib, a little

:42:15. > :42:17.quick. The Broncos' lead is trimmed to three. Jonathan Stewart flies

:42:18. > :42:26.through the air for a Panthers touchdown.

:42:27. > :42:31.STUDIO: Cam Newton has got his legs. He has to move it. He has to be the

:42:32. > :42:36.MVP, he has to be the threat. I like what Mike Shula is doing, getting

:42:37. > :42:39.him out of the pocket with those moves to get out of harm's way and

:42:40. > :42:44.he can throw the ball across the field. Didn't look a great deal

:42:45. > :42:49.wrong with the Jonathan Stewart's ankle the way he launched himself

:42:50. > :42:57.seven feet into the air, than. Taking off like Superman. A great

:42:58. > :43:02.drive by the Carolina Panthers. They needed that to settle down. He got

:43:03. > :43:06.high, but not in the Ricky Williams we! The thing I loved on that drive

:43:07. > :43:15.is how they were setting up the Denver defence. A power formation to

:43:16. > :43:22.our left, to their right, and then they dragged Olsen across the field.

:43:23. > :43:26.He connected with Olsen, which you were starting to worry about in the

:43:27. > :43:32.sense that, as a tight end, he was being used more to block the Denver

:43:33. > :43:38.defence than and attacking weapon, and he has been their best weapon.

:43:39. > :43:42.They have to get him out into the pass routes. If they have to use him

:43:43. > :43:48.to block, you are losing your best receiver. As a member of the

:43:49. > :43:53.defense, would you have a word with Talib and say, just calm down? He is

:43:54. > :43:59.costing his team, number one with the stupid penalty and number two

:44:00. > :44:11.with the place is making. This is their best D B and he is making

:44:12. > :44:14.stupid mistakes. COMMENTATOR: Two personal foul

:44:15. > :44:25.penalties, and jumping offside at the extra point. Cam Newton on the

:44:26. > :44:31.last drive, four for four. And two runs for 23. His runs open things up

:44:32. > :44:35.offensively. You got the sense at the start that he wanted to hang in

:44:36. > :44:42.the pocket and make throws. After the sacks, the fumble on the

:44:43. > :44:46.touchdown, it's almost like he said, OK, enough of that, I will use my

:44:47. > :44:55.legs to great advantage and hurt the defense that way. That helped open

:44:56. > :45:01.up the offence for Carolina. The Carolina defence has also stabilised

:45:02. > :45:07.things. That will be a touchback, mean the ball is placed at the

:45:08. > :45:13.20-yard line. The Carolina defence has forced back three and outs from

:45:14. > :45:19.the Denver offence, which has helped. The last game Denver played,

:45:20. > :45:24.they had a very fast start on offence and made New England chase

:45:25. > :45:28.them the entire game. The last two possessions, they have slowed them

:45:29. > :45:33.down a bit quicker. Let's see if Denver can find rhythm on the

:45:34. > :45:34.offensive side. CJ Anderson, the running back, will start this

:45:35. > :45:50.offensive series. Manning throwing and stumbling down.

:45:51. > :45:54.Shovelling the football forward. If the ball is shovelled forward, that

:45:55. > :45:59.is a pass whether it is over or underhand. I did not see anyone

:46:00. > :46:06.making a signal, the officials, that it was incomplete. Manning was not

:46:07. > :46:11.touched by a defender committee slipped down, shovelling the ball

:46:12. > :46:18.forward. Now, right there... He was touched committee should have been

:46:19. > :46:23.down at that spot. -- he was touched, he can challenge that. Ron

:46:24. > :46:27.Rivera lost a challenge at a time out, as you can see, Peyton Manning

:46:28. > :46:36.was touched which would mean it would be a sack. Ealy hit him with

:46:37. > :46:43.his right hand. He is going to be down there, when we look at the

:46:44. > :46:48.review. He thought he was going to win the last one, so did a lot of

:46:49. > :46:54.people in the press box. I agree, I think this will be easier for them

:46:55. > :47:04.to say. That is a sack. REFEREE: Carolina is challenging the ruler of

:47:05. > :47:08.the field. Here is the question that you would have, the last challenge,

:47:09. > :47:15.was it worth it for him to use it in that spot? He likes to use them...

:47:16. > :47:21.He is using them in the first half. That is the question. Let's look at

:47:22. > :47:26.that again, what Bob and Charles were talking about, in commentary,

:47:27. > :47:29.it seemed to be a easy challenge for Ron Rivera to win.

:47:30. > :47:36.I thought so, when he went down. Watch right here, he stands up. All

:47:37. > :47:41.you have to do is touch him when he's down on the ground. Since it

:47:42. > :47:51.was an incomplete pass, you have a second in ten anyway. I would rather

:47:52. > :47:54.have a second in long. I think they will win this one. That is a clear

:47:55. > :48:00.sack on the quarterback, that is a big momentum. Instead of 2nd 10,

:48:01. > :48:06.they will have 2nd 18, something like that. It is a big play for

:48:07. > :48:11.them. Full house? We all agree? He touched the towel, I agree. A lot of

:48:12. > :48:17.people have been getting in touch, if you want to get in touch, just

:48:18. > :48:24.hashtag BBC Super Bowl. The Aqib Talib penalty, what do you need to

:48:25. > :48:29.do to break the tall team rule? What you need to have said, try and keep

:48:30. > :48:33.it clean? There are many things you can and can't say, referees let

:48:34. > :48:35.certain things slide, if you hear something over the line, they will

:48:36. > :48:45.throw the flag, and keep -- Aqib Talib did that. You two

:48:46. > :48:56.never said anything to offensive players? No! We are a decent human

:48:57. > :49:00.being. Ron Rivera, is it worth Charles using or jeopardising your

:49:01. > :49:05.last challenge for a play that might only met you five or six yards in a

:49:06. > :49:10.sack? I would have held it there, they were giving 2nd 10, the

:49:11. > :49:14.defense is playing well in the last two possessions, they had three and

:49:15. > :49:20.out, they are getting a good idea of what they are doing against Denver.

:49:21. > :49:25.That could have netted me a bit more, Ron Rivera wanted the sack,

:49:26. > :49:30.putting them in an adverse situation on 2nd down. I think they will get

:49:31. > :49:34.it. REFEREE: After review of the play, the quarterback was touched

:49:35. > :49:39.and went down by contact at the 13-yard line. 2nd down from that

:49:40. > :49:44.point. Carolina will not be in charge of time out but they are out

:49:45. > :49:47.of challenges. It is worth noting, as the game goes on, we get to a

:49:48. > :49:51.situation where they want to challenge and they did not have it,

:49:52. > :49:58.we have to remember this time in play. And say this is why they did

:49:59. > :50:05.not get it. 2nd 17 for Ron Rivera. His defense against the Denver

:50:06. > :50:09.fence. You cannot blame him for the first challenge -- offense. He

:50:10. > :50:12.should have won it. But in this situation, I would have held it.

:50:13. > :50:17.Now, the defense had to make this stand-up. Ealy gets credit for the

:50:18. > :50:32.sack of Manning. Going up top, nearly intercepted by

:50:33. > :50:37.Norman. Pass play is intended for Jordan Norwood. That is two in this

:50:38. > :50:42.game, the Panther defenders have had a chance to pick. Watch Norman,

:50:43. > :50:46.number 24, at the bottom of the screen committee reads the route and

:50:47. > :50:51.has coverage on the outside receiver, he sees the ball in the

:50:52. > :50:54.air and makes a play on the football.

:50:55. > :50:58.That is what Carolina want, Peyton Manning to put the ball in the air,

:50:59. > :51:04.20 yards down the field, they can get anything he throws at that

:51:05. > :51:13.distance. 3rd 17.

:51:14. > :51:20.Out of the receiver's hands by Kuechly.

:51:21. > :51:25.Intended for Thomas. That is why he is the best middle linebacker of the

:51:26. > :51:29.NFL. No doubt about it, there is not a thing that he cannot do on the

:51:30. > :51:34.football field, even at this stage in his career, I think it stands

:51:35. > :51:37.people, the suddenness in which he shows up, his quickness, and

:51:38. > :51:41.aggression, what a great read, knowing where the ball was going and

:51:42. > :51:52.arriving therefore contact with the receiver. Is spiralling kick to the

:51:53. > :51:57.sideline. Out of bounds, beautiful. There is a flag at the 15-yard line.

:51:58. > :52:02.Check that. The other thing that Kuechly did so well with the league

:52:03. > :52:07.and player safety becoming a premium committee kept his head up, he did

:52:08. > :52:11.not lead with his head, when he delivered that thundering hit, so

:52:12. > :52:15.that there would be no penalty. There is a lot of chest and

:52:16. > :52:22.shoulder, a textbook tackle for how he plays football nowadays. REFEREE:

:52:23. > :52:27.Kicking team number 51, a 5-yard penalty. 1st down. Todd Davis, a

:52:28. > :52:46.special teams player, calling for the penalty. Ron Rivera... He wants

:52:47. > :52:53.them to punt it again. What he's hoping for is a big play

:52:54. > :52:58.from Ginn on the ropes turn. Peyton Manning, with the Indianapolis

:52:59. > :53:02.Colts, they led the New Orleans Saints 10-0 after the first quarter.

:53:03. > :53:09.They went to Tracy Porter, sealing the deal on this exact date. Back in

:53:10. > :53:14.2010, they wound up losing the game 30 1-17. The Broncos lead in this

:53:15. > :53:18.game 10-0 after the first. You heard Ron Rivera, they did not want the

:53:19. > :53:25.five yards tax down at the end of the penalty, they want to Denver to

:53:26. > :53:31.kick the ball again because Ginn is a legitimate weapon to take one back

:53:32. > :53:37.at the touchdown at moment when he gets the football.

:53:38. > :53:44.The Panthers are hoping to make history here...

:53:45. > :53:50.Out of bounds, right near midfield. The penalty winds up picking up

:53:51. > :53:57.about ten yards after a 43 yard punt. That is absolutely perfect, at

:53:58. > :54:00.1st down, ten yards are gained. That's what special teams coaches

:54:01. > :54:02.say every time, gain a 1st down on the return, they got it without

:54:03. > :54:22.having to touch the ball. Best starting field position for

:54:23. > :54:26.Carolina so far. He can only watch as Cam Newton and

:54:27. > :54:33.the Panthers offense get back on the field.

:54:34. > :54:40.Newton goes to Stewart. Going across midfield. A gain of two, before the

:54:41. > :54:48.deviants get the football. Jackson gets a hit -- defense.

:54:49. > :54:51.Trevathan also in on the tackle. Stewart has the Panthers lone

:54:52. > :55:00.touchdown today. Mike Tolbert comes in. At running back on the second

:55:01. > :55:01.end date for Carolina. Three receivers bunched at the

:55:02. > :55:15.bottom of the screen. That play is going to lose about six

:55:16. > :55:19.yards. They wanted that one to be a tossed her Ginn on the lateral, and

:55:20. > :55:27.he would throw it back to camp Newton. -- a tossed to Ginn, and he

:55:28. > :55:33.would throw it back to Cam Newton. On his right side, watch Newton, he

:55:34. > :55:38.tries to get to the backside, nice play from Denver. Going back to Cam

:55:39. > :55:44.Newton, not allowing it to escape that way. Catching it perfectly,

:55:45. > :55:56.well by the Denver Broncos. 3rd 12, that play lost a bunch.

:55:57. > :56:04.Newton's pass, knocked away. Intended for Olsen. A good position

:56:05. > :56:13.for Carolina two started. -- Carolina to start it.

:56:14. > :56:17.So far in this game, he and TJ Ward committee had a bad ankle, they've

:56:18. > :56:18.shown no ill effects, he showed excellent quickness in getting to

:56:19. > :56:37.the ball. Contact, no whistle, he is off to

:56:38. > :56:47.the races! Norwood across midfield. Nor would! Driving down from behind

:56:48. > :56:52.the 15-yard line. Mario Addison may have saved the

:56:53. > :56:57.touchdown, 28 yard punt, 61 yard return. I thought it was Colin

:56:58. > :57:02.Jones, number 42, getting their early, they thought there would be a

:57:03. > :57:11.flag, there was not one. They thought it would be whistled, it was

:57:12. > :57:15.not, Norwood slipped through two attempted tackles, the number 21,

:57:16. > :57:20.Teddy Williams was their committee could not get him. Denver now have a

:57:21. > :57:24.great opportunity. Marianne Addison, the longest punt in Super Bowl

:57:25. > :57:37.history. At this stage in the game, I know it

:57:38. > :57:41.is early, but a field goal would be eight Mendis disappointment for

:57:42. > :57:47.Denver. This kind of field position after that return, they have to cash

:57:48. > :57:55.this in and get six, it is a tough Carolina defense. About Mario

:57:56. > :58:01.Addison, chasing Norwood and getting the touchdown.

:58:02. > :58:17.Not a lot of room... For Anderson. Do you wonder if Denver is thinking

:58:18. > :58:25.now, four downs? They need to get a touchdown out of this, do they press

:58:26. > :58:33.it? The way your defense is playing, you take the points.

:58:34. > :58:49.I wonder how they feel about offense running all game long.

:58:50. > :58:55.Kuechly in the defense, regrouping, Manning in the defense regrouping,

:58:56. > :58:59.what about Norwood? Contact early from Jones. It was like everyone was

:59:00. > :59:04.thinking it would be a fair catch call, it was not. We were all

:59:05. > :59:08.surprised, it looks like fair catch interference from the number 42 for

:59:09. > :59:13.Carolina, Williams did not keep playing, he was there for Carolina,

:59:14. > :59:20.number 21. They let Norwood slipped through, waiting for a call that did

:59:21. > :59:27.not happen. You are supposed to let the play finish. If Addison does not

:59:28. > :59:34.make the hustle play, that is six points for Denver. Can the defense

:59:35. > :59:59.holds Denver here? 3rd 1 at five. They will need almost a yard on 4th

:00:00. > :00:04.down. Their defense is so good, field goal is the right play, but

:00:05. > :00:09.I'm telling you, I think Denver is worried about how much offence they

:00:10. > :00:14.can generate against Carolina so they might roll the dice and try and

:00:15. > :00:18.get six. During the regular season, the Broncos were seven of 14 on 4th

:00:19. > :00:30.downs. He fights and gets the extra

:00:31. > :00:37.yardage! But there is a flag on the play. Was there a hold against

:00:38. > :00:43.Denver? In the backfield, it's almost always a holding call.

:00:44. > :00:52.Holding, offence, number 65, 10-yard penalty. That makes things easy for

:00:53. > :01:01.Gary Kubiak. They will kick the field goal. That scares gets wrapped

:01:02. > :01:08.up with Short. Excellent take-down, number 99 in black. In football,

:01:09. > :01:14.that is a hold, and there goes the first am that was picked up, and a

:01:15. > :01:16.field goal attempt now by Denver. Carolina has to consider themselves

:01:17. > :01:23.fortunate that they are lining up for a field goal attempt and didn't

:01:24. > :01:27.give up a touchdown. A 33 yard field goal, McManus right down the middle.

:01:28. > :01:39.The 61 punter turned by Jordan Norwood. The Carolina defense held.

:01:40. > :01:45.-- the 61-yard punt return. STUDIO: Do you view that as a

:01:46. > :01:49.victory for Carolina? Absolutely. If you give away a big play on special

:01:50. > :01:55.teams and you can stop them on defence, it's a victory. It is a

:01:56. > :02:00.pyrrhic victory, and if you have too many of them, Carolina, you end up

:02:01. > :02:09.losing. The longest punter turned in a Super Bowl. Do you think Carolina

:02:10. > :02:16.expected a call. Absolutely. The guys hit him early but he kept on

:02:17. > :02:21.running. How about Mario Addison? Saving a touchdown. That is an

:02:22. > :02:25.incredible hustle play by Mario Addison and that might come back to

:02:26. > :02:31.bite Denver, not scoring this touchdown. If you think something

:02:32. > :02:36.happened and you slow up, a big play always happens after that. That is

:02:37. > :02:46.exactly what happened. What is great is the angle Addison takes. Cut him

:02:47. > :02:56.off. Pre-match, when everyone was warming up, we actually watched

:02:57. > :03:02.Norwood and he and Fowler were throwing a medicine ball to each

:03:03. > :03:06.other. I thought they were wearing themselves out before the game, but

:03:07. > :03:14.these young guys have a lot of energy! It was the right medicine.

:03:15. > :03:22.STUDIO: San Francisco has rolled out the red carpet all week long for

:03:23. > :03:26.Super Bowl 50. Gorgeous city. 44 miles south, Santa Clara, Levi's

:03:27. > :03:31.Stadium. Peyton Manning and the Broncos with a 13-7 lead. Cam Newton

:03:32. > :03:35.and the Panthers have only put on good drive together. In the regular

:03:36. > :03:42.season, they outscored their opponents in the first half by 145

:03:43. > :03:51.points. The first two playoff games, plus 48. Tonight, -6, in Super Bowl

:03:52. > :03:58.50. But a stand by the defense after the punt return. The fact they held

:03:59. > :04:01.Denver to three is huge. Absolutely. Denver has to be kicking themselves.

:04:02. > :04:08.They picked up the 1st down but they cost themselves with the holding

:04:09. > :04:11.penalty. Touchback. Cam Newton and the Panthers will start at their own

:04:12. > :04:16.20-yard line. The Denver Broncos, with a 13-7

:04:17. > :04:32.lead. Cam Newton hasn't been sharp with

:04:33. > :04:42.his throwing. He has used his legs to open things up for the offence.

:04:43. > :04:52.Still waiting for some called quarterback runs.

:04:53. > :04:59.Newton to Stewart, incomplete. Trevathan was on the coverage.

:05:00. > :05:04.Newton doesn't look comfortable throwing the ball. The pressure of

:05:05. > :05:07.Denver getting to him early has changed things, that is why I don't

:05:08. > :05:11.think he's going to hang in the pocket quite as long. If these guys

:05:12. > :05:17.are not open, he's going to start to move around and use his legs. That

:05:18. > :05:24.is how they had their best drive, two great runs off pass plays.

:05:25. > :05:32.He's got the 1st down. Miller on the tackle. The ball came out. Picked up

:05:33. > :05:40.by Miller but they are saying down by contact at the 34. A big penalty

:05:41. > :05:46.behind the play. A big hit. There is going to be a flag, I believe. It is

:05:47. > :05:59.a run of 14 for Newton. Clete Blakeman will sort things out.

:06:00. > :06:05.The runner was down by contact at the 34-yard line. After the play,

:06:06. > :06:12.unnecessary roughness, personal foul, defence number 97, 15 yards,

:06:13. > :06:22.1st down to Carolina. Jackson called for the penalty, so a 29 yard play.

:06:23. > :06:28.Newton, was he down? He's down. Before it comes out. You saw Von

:06:29. > :06:34.Miller trying to strip it, as he did earlier, but Newton held it through

:06:35. > :06:39.the tackle. Once the knee hits the ground, he is considered down. The

:06:40. > :06:47.penalty behind the play really helped Carolina. A fumble, turns it

:06:48. > :06:53.over! Recovered by Denver. Trevathan on the recovery.

:06:54. > :07:02.Second turnover by Carolina. The veteran Mike Tolbert, after an 11

:07:03. > :07:08.yard run, Trevathan with the recovery.

:07:09. > :07:14.STUDIO: The pain on Cam Newton's face. Six and a half minutes left in

:07:15. > :07:19.the second quarter and then we will have the Super Bowl half-time show,

:07:20. > :07:28.performed by Coldplay and some special guests. Super Bowl 50, Mark

:07:29. > :07:32.and Ron and Sarah and Brian from the NFL said, could you include the

:07:33. > :07:36.past, the present and the future? The way we are doing the past is by

:07:37. > :07:43.asking some of the people whose half-time shows we really loved, and

:07:44. > :07:46.Beyonce is right up there. It has been fun to make a Giant band

:07:47. > :07:52.together. Everyone who does this show knows it is the biggest honour

:07:53. > :07:56.and the biggest privilege, so they put their life and soul into it. We

:07:57. > :08:00.have watched all of the other half-time shows many times and most

:08:01. > :08:04.of them were fantastic. We decided we would play all of our number ones

:08:05. > :08:10.and work out how to fill the other ten minutes! Firmly split down the

:08:11. > :08:13.middle between those of us who know absolutely nothing about football

:08:14. > :08:19.and those of us who know almost absolutely nothing about football!

:08:20. > :08:24.As long as LeBron James has a good game, things will be fine! And then

:08:25. > :08:29.they were asked who they would like to win. Chris Martin said the Denver

:08:30. > :08:35.Panthers! So we expect Beyonce to join them and we expect Bruno Mars

:08:36. > :08:40.to join them as well. You can enjoy Coldplay and the half-time show. Six

:08:41. > :08:45.and a half minutes of this quarter left.

:08:46. > :08:50.COMMENTATOR: The Broncos with a 13-7 lead over the Panthers. Gary

:08:51. > :08:54.Kubiak's squad forcing yet another turnover. Mike Tolbert fumbles for

:08:55. > :09:02.the first time since 2011. The Denver Broncos in their eighth Super

:09:03. > :09:09.Bowl. In five losses, they were -17, blown out. In their two wins, plus

:09:10. > :09:15.four. In their eighth Super Bowl tonight, plus two. Turnovers are

:09:16. > :09:20.huge component to winning and losing in the National Football League. If

:09:21. > :09:24.you lose the turnover battle, you usually do not win the football

:09:25. > :09:28.game. What a play by Darian Stewart, the safety, to create the play. A

:09:29. > :09:35.textbook tackle, knocking the ball free.

:09:36. > :09:48.Certain games, like the Kansas City game, where Manning kept throwing

:09:49. > :09:54.him the ball and throwing him the ball, he was making play after play.

:09:55. > :10:00.Other times, he drops it. 21 drops in the regular season over the last

:10:01. > :10:04.two years. Two in the playoffs until that one. 13 catches in his last

:10:05. > :10:15.Super Bowl. Shut out so far this evening.

:10:16. > :10:27.Given to Anderson, with some room. CJ Anderson inside the 40! Finally

:10:28. > :10:35.shoved out of bounds at the 25-yard line, a gain of 34 for Anderson.

:10:36. > :10:41.Normally Carolina is a good tackling defence, but he ran through Luke

:10:42. > :10:50.Kuechly, number 59, Boston, number 33. When you run through Kuechly,

:10:51. > :10:54.you have done something. Keo was occupied by the center, Matt

:10:55. > :11:00.Paradis. Ronnie Hillman gets the carry.

:11:01. > :11:09.Kuechly with the tackle. After missing the last one, Kuechly came

:11:10. > :11:16.right through and wrapped up Hillman on that play. Right now, the recipe

:11:17. > :11:35.is in Denver's favour, forcing turnovers, playing great defence.

:11:36. > :11:49.Hillman had nowhere to run. Here is a big play call coming up for

:11:50. > :11:53.Denver. If they keep kicking field goals, you keep giving life to

:11:54. > :11:57.Carolina, even though Carolina is doing everything to give Denver an

:11:58. > :12:04.advantage right now. Denver has to accept the gift and find a way to

:12:05. > :12:07.put the ball in the end zone. A touchdown loosens things up for

:12:08. > :12:09.Denver, a field goal means Carolina will still feel like they are right

:12:10. > :12:32.there. Ealy with the pick. Finally tripped

:12:33. > :12:41.up by Sanders. The spark that the Panthers defence needed... A sloppy

:12:42. > :12:47.play by Manning. Carolina full them, because to the left of the screen,

:12:48. > :12:55.Ealy, number 94, he normally rushes the quarterback. -- fooled them. He

:12:56. > :13:00.dropped back as a linebacker. What an excellent play by Ealy, he batted

:13:01. > :13:06.it and then pulled it in one-handed. Another big play by the Panthers

:13:07. > :13:14.defence. They gave up no points and got the ball back for their offence.

:13:15. > :13:18.A ?270 bob in man showing tremendous agility. Manning gets picked off. --

:13:19. > :13:35.270 lb man. The Newton to the sideline as he was

:13:36. > :13:42.about to get sacked. Jackson was all over him. I still think he's hanging

:13:43. > :13:47.in there too long, he has to flush and go. The gifts he has with his

:13:48. > :13:50.legs can really do damage to the Denver defence. The longer he hangs

:13:51. > :13:57.in there, the big advantage it gives to the Denver pass rushers. Sting

:13:58. > :14:16.them with his legs so that the pass rushing actually works against them.

:14:17. > :14:26.Whittaker was hit initially by Wolfe and then chased down by Williams. No

:14:27. > :14:32.gain on the play. 3rd 10 for Carolina. Ealy has a sack and an

:14:33. > :14:37.interception in this game for the Panthers. Really stepped up his

:14:38. > :14:42.play, second year in the league. Struggled as a rookie, didn't

:14:43. > :14:44.understand what it took to be a pro. But it together, five sacks in the

:14:45. > :15:00.regular season came in five consecutive games.

:15:01. > :15:10.Newton zings one over the middle, incomplete. Intended for Corey

:15:11. > :15:14.Brown. Roby on the coverage. You know what I think the difference is

:15:15. > :15:18.for the Panthers receivers? During the year, and even in the playoffs,

:15:19. > :15:22.they were catching a lot of uncontested passes, because they

:15:23. > :15:26.were running the ball so well, wide open downfield. But today, just

:15:27. > :15:30.about everything they are going up to catch, a Denver defender is there

:15:31. > :15:35.to try and make a play on the football and it is affecting the

:15:36. > :15:43.passing game. Brown had his hands on it. I agree. But different during

:15:44. > :15:48.the season, there was no one around. They are feeling the presence of the

:15:49. > :15:52.Denver defenders. Once the punt goes into the end zone, even if it

:15:53. > :15:58.bounces out, it goes as a touchback which means the offence starts at

:15:59. > :16:03.the 20-yard line. If 61 yard punt. Manning has now thrown his fifth

:16:04. > :16:07.interception in Super Bowls. His fourth Super Bowl. But no harm no

:16:08. > :16:12.foul, in the sense that Carolina didn't score. Although it did take

:16:13. > :16:17.Denver out of a chance of three points.

:16:18. > :16:26.Ealy That hurt them there. But not too much. Two points given up.

:16:27. > :16:31.Carolina's defence is playing more in the first half, as the offence is

:16:32. > :16:39.not possessing the ball for very long.

:16:40. > :16:45.Manning, and Shaquil Thompson on the attack with Coleman. That is what

:16:46. > :16:51.they need. They can't have the drop like they had earlier. They have to

:16:52. > :16:53.stay on schedule. If Manning gets in third and longs, it is harder to

:16:54. > :16:59.function. If they control the ball, they are

:17:00. > :17:02.starting to wear down the Carolina defence. Offence is not helping out

:17:03. > :17:07.at all. Anderson is going to lose a half a

:17:08. > :17:13.yard. Thomas Davis with the cast on the right arm makes the tackle.

:17:14. > :17:19.What a valiant player he is. Surgery and screws and a plate installed in

:17:20. > :17:25.the forearm to fix the break. He has not missed time. He got hurt

:17:26. > :17:28.in the championship game. Came back and started

:17:29. > :17:44.ALL SPEAK AT ONCE Of his regular rotation.

:17:45. > :17:57.3/2. No Emotion. Manning throws the out. Nowhere for Tomas to go. It is

:17:58. > :18:02.a fast three and out for Denver. Just can't get to Tomas very well.

:18:03. > :18:10.They are trying their best to find him. But Josh Bush matched him and

:18:11. > :18:18.ended up winning the battle -- Josh Norman matched him. Carolina is

:18:19. > :18:26.going to get the ball to. A fair catch after a # # 53-yard

:18:27. > :18:34.punt. Carolina will get the ball. Possession here at the end of the

:18:35. > :18:40.first half, down six. It's the last two minutes of the

:18:41. > :18:45.half. Let's go back to the Kony Ealy play. Tremendous play. He is the guy

:18:46. > :18:51.in the rush. Here he drops the coverage. Peyton manning is to fade

:18:52. > :18:56.to the left. Not see him. Look at the big man moving. Look at him. Get

:18:57. > :18:59.off me! When a defence gets the ball like this, this is what he dreams

:19:00. > :19:02.off. They should be playing him wide

:19:03. > :19:09.receiver. Absolutely. Tremendous play by Kony

:19:10. > :19:15.Ealy. A guy who has come along. Playing fantastic football for the

:19:16. > :19:20.Leon Panetta. Kony Ealy's eyes will have opened

:19:21. > :19:27.wide. He will have seen glory. He was the guy at Missouri who

:19:28. > :19:32.played opposite Michael Sam. . And when he was getting the publicity,

:19:33. > :19:37.you watched the game, Kony Ealy was playing good on the offence.

:19:38. > :19:42.you watched the game, Kony Ealy was Chris Morris said: Who decides the

:19:43. > :19:46.plays in the game for the offence? There are some franchises who have

:19:47. > :19:55.offensive co-ordinators. For these two? Schuller is calling

:19:56. > :19:59.for Carolina and for Denver, it is Gary Kubiak. He is more a line

:20:00. > :20:04.coach. But it is Gary Kubiak's offence.

:20:05. > :20:16.OK. Let's go back to the game. The sun is starting to set in Santa

:20:17. > :20:27.Clara in the Levi's Stadium, the home of the Super Bowl 50.

:20:28. > :20:36.Peyton Manning and the Broncos. In front of cam Newton and the

:20:37. > :20:41.Panthers. Denver has pressure on them. A sack

:20:42. > :20:50.and a fumble resulted in a den very touchdown.

:20:51. > :21:01.Cam has thrown four straight incompletions. Ron Rivera has gone

:21:02. > :21:08.through a council of challenges. A reception in the first quarter

:21:09. > :21:15.turned out to be a big play. There was a big ball. But there was

:21:16. > :21:25.an upruling held incomplete. Newton was sacked. Fumbles and Denver gets

:21:26. > :21:31.a touchdown. Denver got the fast start that they eagerly sought. They

:21:32. > :21:34.wanted to get out in the front and make Carolina chase. They have been

:21:35. > :21:38.able to do that. Ron Rivera.

:21:39. > :21:44.Carolina will get the ball to start the third.

:21:45. > :21:52.They have two time outs with 155 to go on the first half. Trailing 13-.

:21:53. > :22:00.. -- trailing 13-7.

:22:01. > :22:05.They can't get on the outside. A nice open field tackle by Chris

:22:06. > :22:09.Harris. It almost would have been better off taking what was there.

:22:10. > :22:14.Putting a shoulder down, picking up a council of yards.

:22:15. > :22:27.Harris ended up catching him there and stopping.

:22:28. > :22:30.2nd and 7 for Carolina. The right tackle called for a false

:22:31. > :22:36.start. They are out here on the offence.

:22:37. > :22:39.They are getting a lot of jumps and they don't look quite right, talking

:22:40. > :22:44.about Carolina. False start. Offence.

:22:45. > :22:52.Five-yard penalty. Replay second down.

:22:53. > :23:01.Please put 1. 26 on the game clock. I thought he meant 74. Either way,

:23:02. > :23:15.the penalty counts. It's the same yardage.

:23:16. > :23:28.2nd and 13. Back at the 17th.

:23:29. > :23:33.Four-man rush. Newton side armed it with no real open receivers.

:23:34. > :23:38.Sometimes you say, Charles, his gift, which is his incredible arm.

:23:39. > :23:44.He can make throws flat foot, and also a curse with decision-making.

:23:45. > :23:49.Decision-making and you noted it earlier, mechanics. He is trying to

:23:50. > :23:54.rely on everything. His arm throw. Stepping into things. Being

:23:55. > :23:58.accurate. The speed of the Denver defensive line, affected the offence

:23:59. > :24:05.of the Carolina line when this are trying to throw out the ball.

:24:06. > :24:10.3rd and 12. The play clock is at one. Now they

:24:11. > :24:16.have to use a timeout. That is often incomplete pass.

:24:17. > :24:18.When you only have two timeouts inside of the last two

:24:19. > :24:24.minutes-and-a-half. That cannot happen.

:24:25. > :24:30.No, whether it is in a Super Bowl, a play-off game, a preseason.

:24:31. > :24:36.I think it speaks to how out of play they are. The speed of the defensive

:24:37. > :24:40.line of Denver, messed up the offensive line of Carolina. They are

:24:41. > :24:49.trying so hard to get out quickly to block them. It led to a council of

:24:50. > :24:55.false starts. And the second part is that here they are relying on his

:24:56. > :25:00.arm. I believe he has to flush and go or get more design quarterback

:25:01. > :25:03.runs in. They need big plays. He can provide them.

:25:04. > :25:09.If he slings them, there will be a quick six goal the other way.

:25:10. > :25:21.At some point. The Denver defence is too good. 3rd and 12.

:25:22. > :25:42.Now Newton heads... That is absolutely huge. It gets them out of

:25:43. > :25:47.trouble and Denver started. Funchess, when he catches the first

:25:48. > :25:53.one, he is usually good for the day. And on they go.

:25:54. > :25:58.They stopped the clock with 48 seconds to go.

:25:59. > :26:04.Look at the play by Funches. Going up with the frame. Like he was

:26:05. > :26:09.playing basketball. He kept him off his back and took

:26:10. > :26:22.the football from the air. A really nice play by a big frame receiver.

:26:23. > :26:34.Olesen with the catch. Tackled with 48 yard line by TJ Ward. A gain of

:26:35. > :26:38.7. Down to 35 seconds and the clock going. The Carolina has the one

:26:39. > :26:43.timeout remaining. There does not seem to be the

:26:44. > :26:47.urgency here. 3rd and 3 with 24 seconds to go.

:26:48. > :26:57.Newton is going to run it. He has the first down.

:26:58. > :27:03.It's a lot of time from the time you noted, Bob. 10 seconds burnt off the

:27:04. > :27:13.clock. I thought that they should have moved quicker.

:27:14. > :27:17.The play clock trickling down earlier in this drive.

:27:18. > :27:21.They couldn't spike it on the third downplay.

:27:22. > :27:26.The other timeout that they lost was because of a challenge.

:27:27. > :27:31.Boy, there is a tough one. The idea was to go down and get points here.

:27:32. > :27:34.But the big one was to get points going into the half.

:27:35. > :27:39.Who gets the ball the sec half? Carolina.

:27:40. > :27:43.So trying to get a two for one. Hoping, going into the half. They

:27:44. > :27:55.still have the opportunity. But they have let precious time slip away.

:27:56. > :28:02.1st and 10th. 45. Newton bounces off.

:28:03. > :28:07.Newton throws it to the side line incomplete with 11 seconds

:28:08. > :28:14.remaining. Now you are trying to get something. But get to the side line.

:28:15. > :28:20.And get some yardage and hope you can get the field goal.

:28:21. > :28:27.Graham guano's career long is 59 yards, back in 2011.

:28:28. > :28:32.It will be 63 from here. In the season, I believe it is 52

:28:33. > :28:38.for the year in the season. The swirling winds we have seen...

:28:39. > :28:47.It is not ideal. Newton under pressure gets sacked!

:28:48. > :28:55.DeMarcus Ware! That's how the first half will end.

:28:56. > :29:01.Michael Ore trying to block him. No shot on that play.

:29:02. > :29:05.What did Fozzy Whitaker do? He went to the inside.

:29:06. > :29:11.He did not help. You know in the scouting report, when in doubt, help

:29:12. > :29:15.the tackle. Let the guys inside handle things themselves. That

:29:16. > :29:26.looked like a mental error. Demarkous wear. Part of the pass

:29:27. > :29:32.rush for the Denver Broncos. Getting a fumble that resulted in

:29:33. > :29:44.Denver's only touchdown. The Broncos to take a 13-7 lead into the

:29:45. > :29:50.half-time. Earlier today... We will leave them to their own tail-gate

:29:51. > :29:55.party. We will bring you Coldplay shortly.

:29:56. > :29:59.Here is that quarter, a massive lead for Carolina.

:30:00. > :30:03.Denver getting themselves a field goal, set up from this pumped return

:30:04. > :30:15.from Jordan Norwood. The longest, we are told, in Super

:30:16. > :30:22.Bowl history. Before that kick from Brandon McManus. The stats from the

:30:23. > :30:32.first half... Carolina have made more yardage than Denver. 140-117.

:30:33. > :30:41.They were equal at 109. Possession, about one minute of difference. The

:30:42. > :30:52.most important stat is Denver are leading 13-7. You like it when the

:30:53. > :31:00.quarterback gets smashed, don't you? I am all about defense. I am so

:31:01. > :31:07.happy the way this game is playing out. What you are seeing now is

:31:08. > :31:10.tremendous defence. There was the pressure and the defensive line for

:31:11. > :31:17.the Denver Broncos, coming off that edge, this whole season, Carolina

:31:18. > :31:21.Panthers also, playing very solid defence. The solid plays they made.

:31:22. > :31:30.These are outstanding football teams here. Does nobody wants to win this,

:31:31. > :31:34.somebody asks? You were part of the defence as well. Do you balance it

:31:35. > :31:40.the same? Impressive defence from both sides, or do you look at it as

:31:41. > :31:44.nervous offence, or both? You kind of know how it will play out and

:31:45. > :31:48.that is going to be a factor. The big issue is who is wearing out

:31:49. > :31:52.first? They are on the field defensively a lot and the big guys

:31:53. > :31:59.get tired. The offence needs to meant Eynsham driving. And the

:32:00. > :32:03.long-term effect, Caroline is thrown out of their rhythm. They are out of

:32:04. > :32:06.sync because of that. Receivers are not making plays and Charles Davies

:32:07. > :32:11.made the point a couple of times, they are not used to catching with

:32:12. > :32:15.that much pressure. Denver doing a really good job. Cam Newton, time

:32:16. > :32:21.after time is not making good throws. Because he is thinking about

:32:22. > :32:31.the rush. Both touchdowns, starting with Denver's. That came from the

:32:32. > :32:34.Denver defence. Coming around the edge and getting it out of the

:32:35. > :32:40.quarterback's hands. That is an incredible play. When you go to the

:32:41. > :32:44.quarterback, do not just go for the sack, go for the Bulls fumble and

:32:45. > :32:52.recovery and that is exactly what he's able to do here. How are the

:32:53. > :32:56.defence have on this success? All the talk in the build-up to this

:32:57. > :33:03.game was about tearing the rusher apart. On the back end they are

:33:04. > :33:06.putting the back receivers, they had no openings for any of them,

:33:07. > :33:12.allowing that defensive line to get upfield and aggressive. This is the

:33:13. > :33:18.number-1 defence in the league. Number one in the league. All the

:33:19. > :33:21.talk of Carolina coming through and steam-rolling Denver Broncos, they

:33:22. > :33:24.said, we have something to say about that. We have the best players in

:33:25. > :33:29.defence and we will put them on the field. They are doing work and doing

:33:30. > :33:32.damage. I will not try to make excuses for Carolina but would they

:33:33. > :33:36.have been thrown away from their stride by losing Jonathan Stewart?

:33:37. > :33:43.He had an ankle injury before the touchdown. Whittaker had a good run

:33:44. > :33:49.while he was in there. Fozzy Whittaker is not a pass blocker.

:33:50. > :33:54.Tolbert has fumbled twice. They dropped a bunch of passes. What is

:33:55. > :34:00.interesting from Denver, they have stopped their run on 1st down every

:34:01. > :34:08.time. That is what Carolina depend on. What they have done is leave

:34:09. > :34:12.these ends here. I should not say that because they aren't

:34:13. > :34:15.linebackers. They are saying, OK, you are going to the outside, they

:34:16. > :34:19.have not gone to the outside, they kept in the middle. Carolina has

:34:20. > :34:25.always been second and long which they never want. You are going to

:34:26. > :34:31.talk us through a play from the Carolina defensive point of view

:34:32. > :34:37.with Joss Norman. What impressed you? One play, we picked out. This

:34:38. > :34:41.is a great play. You are forcing the corner to choose which guy he

:34:42. > :34:46.covers. Both of the receivers right up here. Norman reads it perfectly

:34:47. > :34:52.and has a break, ball. They played a lot of cover and he is able to read

:34:53. > :35:00.it and get a break. Cover three is, that means what? Three men deep and

:35:01. > :35:05.two guys playing flat. He had two people to keep an eye on. He had two

:35:06. > :35:10.people. It is a great check by Peyton Manning and he made the play.

:35:11. > :35:16.Andrei Hamilton said what can either team do to get the offence moving?

:35:17. > :35:22.We are talking about not just two regular defenses, these are the top

:35:23. > :35:26.defenses in the league. It is not like the Broncos, they have been

:35:27. > :35:29.good on offence, they have relied on their defence and that is what they

:35:30. > :35:34.have done here. Carolina have not looked good in this game, because of

:35:35. > :35:40.the Denver Broncos defence. I think if either team sat on it for a

:35:41. > :35:44.couple of plays in a row, they can break them. Anderson broke not just

:35:45. > :35:49.the long one but the other one when they went off. Denver always has

:35:50. > :35:53.that possibility. I think the same applies to Carolina. If like you

:35:54. > :35:59.said at the beginning, if they are willing to take it outside, if Cam

:36:00. > :36:04.Newton is. It has been so automatic. It has been pass, pass, pass and it

:36:05. > :36:08.makes it easier for the defence. But give credit to the Carolina

:36:09. > :36:11.Panthers. The turnover differential separates winners from losers.

:36:12. > :36:17.Denver Broncos have forced turnovers and the Carolina Panthers, they are

:36:18. > :36:21.playing great defense and they only have 13 points on the board. With

:36:22. > :36:25.all the things that have happened they only have 13 points. Tremendous

:36:26. > :36:33.play. They are closer to keeping a level. The team at the end which has

:36:34. > :36:37.the most turnover is the winner of 36 super Bowls and only losing four.

:36:38. > :36:45.Get it even and you have a better shot. Half-time is longer than a

:36:46. > :36:52.normal half-time. They are setting up Coldplay down below us which we

:36:53. > :36:55.will bring you shortly. Is it a benefit having a longer half-time

:36:56. > :37:00.when you are behind in the Super Bowl, for the coaches to have longer

:37:01. > :37:04.to get their message across? It is never a benefit to have a long

:37:05. > :37:09.half-time! Is especially for me when I was getting older, getting cold,

:37:10. > :37:13.your joints are getting weary. You had to start stretching all over

:37:14. > :37:17.again. I would rather there was no half-time at all and play straight

:37:18. > :37:21.through. It might be a benefit for the younger players to get settled

:37:22. > :37:26.down and see if they can get back a little bit into the offence. They

:37:27. > :37:29.look out of sync. It would be great for Cam Newton to figure at what is

:37:30. > :37:33.happening. He does not look comfortable and he needs all the

:37:34. > :37:39.time he can get to fix what needs to be fixed in his approach. I would

:37:40. > :37:45.use the time to script out a series and go no further when they come

:37:46. > :37:51.back. See what it does to Denver. As it surprised you that for all of the

:37:52. > :37:57.hoopla, he always looks relaxed? Are you surprised he is struggling. --?

:37:58. > :38:03.He has not seen a you surprised he is struggling. --?

:38:04. > :38:06.defence like this. Like the defense of the Denver Broncos. Half-time

:51:28. > :51:35.The National Football League thanks you for watching the Super Bowl

:51:36. > :51:39.half-time show! It is different when you are here to watching it at home.

:51:40. > :51:43.I don't know what the reaction at home is. Aside from the fact you

:51:44. > :51:48.sang in my ear for ten minutes. I thought that was special.

:51:49. > :51:55.Oh, my goodness. I love the NFL. This is how we get down! I mean, did

:51:56. > :51:59.you see that happen here? Coldplay, how special was that. Tears were

:52:00. > :52:03.steaming down my face. I found the end emotional of all of

:52:04. > :52:07.the artists playing me the half-time show.

:52:08. > :52:18.That was great. What I also love is watching all the young people there.

:52:19. > :52:26.It is like a moment of their lives. Them and Osi! I thought it was

:52:27. > :52:34.awesome. I was having a good time. I felt it like everybody else.

:52:35. > :52:41.# Tears stream # Down my face. I tell you what,

:57:19. > :57:31.# # You lift me up... It really has

:57:32. > :57:35.been an enjoyable season. If the first half was played under the

:57:36. > :57:40.bright San Francisco sunshine, then the second half will be played under

:57:41. > :57:42.the lights here at Levet. Carolina receive in the second half. That is

:57:43. > :57:46.important. Absolutely. They defer to the second

:57:47. > :57:52.half. They will receive the football. Come out, establish

:57:53. > :57:57.something. Maybe cam Newton needs to get a hand of the ball. Get the

:57:58. > :58:01.offensive moving a bit. Just keep it for three, four, five

:58:02. > :58:07.minutes! I know everybody has come off half-time. They have had a rest.

:58:08. > :58:13.But to get themselves in a rhythm. We need to see what adjustments they

:58:14. > :58:17.have made. The offence, what has it done to make adjustments to make cam

:58:18. > :58:22.Newton feel better about what he is doing.

:58:23. > :58:26.They have been running the ball. They have made enough mistakes for

:58:27. > :58:32.three games. But this game is pretty much what we were saying in the

:58:33. > :58:37.beginning, the best defence and second best defeigned a team without

:58:38. > :58:42.much offence and a team that isn't the best in the league. The two

:58:43. > :58:46.offences are equally malfunctioning. Denver have been in the situation

:58:47. > :58:51.many times, in tight games. They have seen it. Carolina have been

:58:52. > :58:55.very much in blowouts where they have utterly hammered sides in the

:58:56. > :58:59.first two quarters. By this time they have been 25, 30 points ahead.

:59:00. > :59:04.So this is a very different situation for them? Absolutely, man.

:59:05. > :59:10.It will be interesting to see how they respond to adversity. Great

:59:11. > :59:15.championship teams respond well. Like you said, mostly, they have

:59:16. > :59:19.been ahead. They were not to the Atlanta Falcons. They lost that

:59:20. > :59:23.game. Joking aside, all season you have

:59:24. > :59:26.been saying to us, that we can have a laugh but seriously, you have said

:59:27. > :59:30.that they could find themselves in trouble if they have to chase again?

:59:31. > :59:35.Exactly, man. That is what they will have to do here. But the defence is

:59:36. > :59:44.keeping them in the game. We were saying earlier if the roles were

:59:45. > :59:51.reversed and Carolina had the points that Denver have, they would be

:59:52. > :59:55.ahead by 21 points. Remember, Carolina can make big place down the

:59:56. > :00:00.field. The receivers have to catch the ball, calm down and get loose.

:00:01. > :00:07.What I learned doing a Super Bowl, there is a sat for each occasion.

:00:08. > :00:13.Teams leading at half-time in a Super Bowl are 36/10. Once you are

:00:14. > :00:18.ahead, the odds are in your favour. Denver has come from behind in a

:00:19. > :00:26.number of games. They have not been sitting on leads often. But against

:00:27. > :00:28.the Patriots, they almost threw it away as the offence was not

:00:29. > :00:33.functioning. Gary Kubiak could keep it simple,

:00:34. > :00:37.more of the same? They are doing what they are working. It is

:00:38. > :00:40.working. Playing great defence. Control the ball and don't turn it

:00:41. > :00:44.over. Peyton Manning, the throw he made to

:00:45. > :00:47.Kony Ealy, he cannot afford to make another one. The Leon Panetta will

:00:48. > :00:58.capitalise and make him pay. Why do Panthers keep using Stewart

:00:59. > :01:04.to Russia on the first? They seem to have worked them out. We said

:01:05. > :01:09.exactly that, Denver has said we will play that run and you will not

:01:10. > :01:14.get anything inside. Try something else. I do not know why they keep

:01:15. > :01:16.doing it. This is where Kelvin Benjamin will hurt them. Back to the

:01:17. > :01:33.game. Taken into the end zone and it. At

:01:34. > :01:38.the 20-yard line. -- and it will start at the 20-yard line. Cam

:01:39. > :01:45.Newton, can he get the offence going? This is where the sack and

:01:46. > :01:51.forced fumble happened for the touchdown. The noise is a factor at

:01:52. > :01:55.that end of the field. What can Carolina do on the 1st down to help

:01:56. > :02:02.themselves stay ahead in the offence?

:02:03. > :02:16.Stewart gets nothing. First hit. His team-mates drove him back.

:02:17. > :02:20.Comparison in the first half, Cam Newton, 95 yards. Manning, 76.

:02:21. > :02:27.Manning has the interception. Newton has a fumble. Each quarterback with

:02:28. > :02:33.a turnover. Newton went for a touchdown for Denver, obviously. You

:02:34. > :02:36.asked, they did nothing on 1st down. It was the same type of play in the

:02:37. > :02:46.first half. No change-up whatsoever coming into the second half. Newton

:02:47. > :02:53.over the middle. And with speed! 35 and chased out of bounds. That is

:02:54. > :02:57.what they did not get in the first half and what they have been getting

:02:58. > :02:59.in the playoffs and throughout the season. Down by the receivers in the

:03:00. > :03:04.first half, the quarterbacks were contesting everything when the ball

:03:05. > :03:09.got to the receiver and on this when he hits on the run, about four yards

:03:10. > :03:13.gap between him and the defender and we see what happens is he has got

:03:14. > :03:18.room and he is able to catch the ball and use his speed to advance

:03:19. > :03:28.downfield. Longest play from scrimmage goes from 45 yards. First

:03:29. > :03:34.and ten at the Denver 35. Denver Broncos and Carolina blocked it

:03:35. > :03:38.well. Newton chased by where. He get it away. Incomplete. One of the

:03:39. > :03:47.better plays he has made in this game. Without it being a gain on

:03:48. > :03:52.offence. He gets out of the pocket, where he is safe to through it to

:03:53. > :04:01.the line and scrimmage out of bounds without it being called intentional

:04:02. > :04:04.grounding. That is where his size, ?245, and his athleticism comes in.

:04:05. > :04:13.Most quarterbacks would have been sacked. 2nd 10. At the Denver 35.

:04:14. > :04:18.Whittaker tailback. Whittaker with room from the right side. He's got

:04:19. > :04:27.ten and one third down. Flag comes in late. In this game we have had a

:04:28. > :04:30.lot of extra hits behind the ball between the lineman. They benefited

:04:31. > :04:39.in the first. We will see this flag this goes against them. -- if this

:04:40. > :04:46.flag. By the look on the face of Cam Newton, it will be. Plays dead and

:04:47. > :04:51.somebody hit from behind. After the play, personal foul, unnecessary

:04:52. > :04:57.roughness. Offence, number 70. 15-yard penalty. First and ten from

:04:58. > :05:03.that spot. Trai Turner called for the penalty. I think a lot of what

:05:04. > :05:07.happened is they want a lot of clean people off from their runners. I

:05:08. > :05:11.think there is frustration from the offence line. They have struggled

:05:12. > :05:19.with the defence line in this game. Trai Turner, they caught him and it

:05:20. > :05:23.is a big penalty. Against such a tough defence it is yards you have

:05:24. > :05:31.to get as an offence. It is a play you do not need to make. It is first

:05:32. > :05:39.and ten at the 40. Of Denver. Tolbert. One yard. That is it.

:05:40. > :05:43.Walker got the first hit. Carolina have really got to look at

:05:44. > :05:49.themselves, about the first play and where it is. It is doing nothing. It

:05:50. > :05:51.is the same type of run every time. Run and handoff to a running back

:05:52. > :05:55.and they are getting almost nothing on 1st down. They have to get

:05:56. > :06:00.something generated and get these guys on. It is tough to make a

:06:01. > :06:06.second and third long consistently. It does not help the offence at all.

:06:07. > :06:15.And you can get a penalty and it moves you back 15 yards. 2nd 9.

:06:16. > :06:24.That was on a 2nd 10. Newton. Again, 1st down. Tackled at the

:06:25. > :06:28.25-yard line. Again, with his first two catches of the game, coming on

:06:29. > :06:35.the opening drive of the third quarter. Well-run. Getting inside.

:06:36. > :06:40.He is one of the best cover corners in the league. He covers very well.

:06:41. > :06:48.Excellent movement by Ginn Jr. Newton does not deliver.

:06:49. > :06:55.First and ten at the 25-yard line of Denver. Opening drive of the third

:06:56. > :07:02.quarter. Carolina in possession. Newton is going to keep it. Broncos

:07:03. > :07:11.not fooled at all. Play is dead. Jackson was the first hit on the

:07:12. > :07:15.quarterback. Loss of one yard. Gary Kubiak, the head coach at Houston,

:07:16. > :07:20.Texas in his first year as head coach of the Denver Broncos was as

:07:21. > :07:25.the coordinator. Played for the Denver Broncos, he and Ron Rivera

:07:26. > :07:32.the first two former players to go each other Super Bowl XX. Barry was

:07:33. > :07:41.a coach of the Patriots and he was a member of the coach by might dicker.

:07:42. > :07:52.-- a member of the coaching... Well thrown football. Good coverage out

:07:53. > :07:58.there. That is Von Miller. Wondering with a wide receiver. -- running

:07:59. > :08:01.with a wide receiver. We always say if the defender has his back to the

:08:02. > :08:06.quarterback, through it to the receiver and he will make a play on

:08:07. > :08:12.the football. Jerricho Cotchery with two massive drops. One in the 1st

:08:13. > :08:23.1 right here. First in goal. 3rd 11. Newton is heaving it.

:08:24. > :08:29.Incomplete. Flag on the players well. This will go against Denver, I

:08:30. > :08:33.think. Defence holding a second area, it would be a 5-yard penalty

:08:34. > :08:38.and automatic 1st down for Carolina. I think Bradley Roby got tangled up

:08:39. > :08:45.with Corey Brown. It will go against him.

:08:46. > :08:56.There is no foul for a defence hold on play. 4th down. Do you think they

:08:57. > :09:00.ruled that Newton moved out of the pocket and it allows you to hit a

:09:01. > :09:04.receiver outside the zone? Tough call when you think about how it is

:09:05. > :09:10.called in the course of the season. That is where a quarterback is more

:09:11. > :09:14.mobile and loses the benefit of the down. If he moves out of the pocket

:09:15. > :09:17.at all you can knock those receivers down and it allows you more freedom

:09:18. > :09:31.on defence and Denver took advantage. 44 yard field goal to get

:09:32. > :09:41.Carolina within three. Clean. Kick. Hit the upright. No good! Jodie

:09:42. > :09:51.Kamal is the Special Teams coach. Liking what he saw from Denver.

:09:52. > :09:59.Dropped pass by Jerricho Cotchery would have set up the goal. Missing

:10:00. > :10:03.the field goal. Denver lead by six. STUDIO: You wonder if this is going

:10:04. > :10:10.to be Denver's evening. Six pointed. Broncos, 13. Panthers, seven. Looks

:10:11. > :10:11.like a close finish. We have had several close finishes over the

:10:12. > :10:19.years... Clock winding down on one of the

:10:20. > :10:24.greatest Super Bowl games ever played. Ten seconds. Hydra on the

:10:25. > :10:30.Super Bowl. All right, guys! Play again. You talk about a pressure

:10:31. > :10:34.situation. It comes down to this. It is at the Patriot line. Scott

:10:35. > :10:45.Norwood against the shops now. And it will happen. -- shot. At the back

:10:46. > :10:54.of the end zone. Touchdown! I do not know how he did it! We have got to

:10:55. > :11:04.do it. Get everyone at field goal! Go, go, go! It is good. It is good.

:11:05. > :11:13.One yard short. Oh, my goodness, man. We did it, baby. Unbelievable

:11:14. > :11:19.Super Bowl. Winning isn't everything, but it is the only

:11:20. > :11:22.thing... STUDIO: I said if you wondered it was going to be their

:11:23. > :11:27.day. Do you wonder that as a player in the heat of it? Sometimes you do.

:11:28. > :11:33.When you see how things are on holding, it seems to be going in the

:11:34. > :11:36.way of Denver. That Carolina defense has kept them into the game. I

:11:37. > :11:44.cannot wait to see what happens next. COMMENTATOR It looked like a

:11:45. > :11:48.keyed to lead a jumped offside. Would have been a 5-yard penalty and

:11:49. > :11:53.given Carolina an opportunity to try for the field goal from 39 yards.

:11:54. > :11:58.Again, a Jerricho Cotchery drop pass would have given Carolina a first

:11:59. > :12:02.goal inside the five. He has two catch when he beat Von Miller and

:12:03. > :12:06.Newton put it right on him. As well as the deep plays on defense, when

:12:07. > :12:10.you have a chance to make plays, you have got to make them. You do not

:12:11. > :12:13.get that many opportunities. It was right there and would have been

:12:14. > :12:16.third goal inside the 5-yard line. Instead they had to settle for a

:12:17. > :12:24.field goal attempt and it hit the upright. Peyton Manning. One of two

:12:25. > :12:34.quarterbacks with interception in four different Super Bowl. Denver

:12:35. > :12:44.back on offence. Their first offence possession of the third quarter. And

:12:45. > :12:54.they will start on 34. Manning. Sanders. 40-yard line. A gain of 25.

:12:55. > :12:58.Beating Robert McClain. Gorgeous, wasn't it? That was timed so well.

:12:59. > :13:04.Denver will go ahead and move quickly. Often after a big game,

:13:05. > :13:13.teams want to go faster and try and keep the defence on their heels. CJ

:13:14. > :13:20.Anderson on the run. Hold. Dropped by Kurt Coleman after a gain of two.

:13:21. > :13:29.We have had some huge plays. Jerricho Cotchery has factored in

:13:30. > :13:35.two of them. Carolina were pinned. Leading to the Newton sack and the

:13:36. > :13:41.fumble. Manning on the 2nd 8. Sanders again on the play. Chased

:13:42. > :13:52.down from behind by Davies. A gain of 22. Back-to-back, really well

:13:53. > :13:58.thrown football by Peyton Manning. Able to see it and he throws darts.

:13:59. > :14:06.Really well thrown ball. Good catch by Sanders. First and ten. After 17.

:14:07. > :14:12.Carolina. Three plays. The Broncos in the scoring range. Leading by

:14:13. > :14:20.six. The Panthers jump. Charles Johnson. The guilty party for

:14:21. > :14:32.Carolina. Neutral zone in fraction. Defence. 95. Penalty. 1st down. It

:14:33. > :14:39.will be 1st 5 now, for Denver. At the 12. Interesting to see what they

:14:40. > :14:44.call here. A perfect time to take a shot at the end zone. Instead they

:14:45. > :14:48.give Anderson no room to run and he gets back to the line of scrimmage

:14:49. > :14:54.and that is it. First hit on him. And his team-mates cleaned it up.

:14:55. > :14:59.Right back in that spot, early in the third quarter. Touched down by

:15:00. > :15:04.Denver. It changes the complexion of this game. In a big way. Because of

:15:05. > :15:08.how it has gone. Denver will settle for another field goal attempt. They

:15:09. > :15:11.keep letting Carolina Hang in there despite the mistakes made by the

:15:12. > :15:22.Panthers. They need to challenge one of the turnovers.

:15:23. > :15:31.Manning back to the throw. Good coverage by Cortland Finnegan.

:15:32. > :15:37.That will set up 3rd and 5 by the 12.

:15:38. > :15:45.One of the interesting things. They have over 200 footballs in the Super

:15:46. > :15:50.Bowl. Commemorable balls. I spoke to the referee before the game about

:15:51. > :15:54.that. He said that the teams are going to hurry, they will not slow

:15:55. > :15:58.it down. But on a play like that, they could bring in a football.

:15:59. > :16:02.That is a lot of rubbing down of footballs.

:16:03. > :16:06.That is by the players so, that they are not too slick.

:16:07. > :16:11.Manning to throw. Pass deintellected.

:16:12. > :16:17.Incomplete. Intended for Sanders. Finnegan on the coverage.

:16:18. > :16:22.They went to a staple there by Denver. They threw to a better

:16:23. > :16:27.receiver, to Sanders. Those are The Passes that Peyton Manning throws

:16:28. > :16:31.best at this stage of his career. Less time in the air. Less distance

:16:32. > :16:37.to travel. Well defended by Carolina.

:16:38. > :16:42.Lucky it was not intercepted. A 30-yard field goal attempt for

:16:43. > :16:49.McManus. He knock it is through. The lead for Denver is nine. Carolina

:16:50. > :16:56.have not taken advantage of their opportunity. Guano hit the right,

:16:57. > :17:08.upright. No good. The first points in the third quarter to the Broncos.

:17:09. > :17:13.Lewis Hamilton joins us here, delighted to have him. Your first

:17:14. > :17:20.time here? It is. Amazing time. For the last five years I've been a big

:17:21. > :17:23.fan of Denver. Do you watch Broncos? I have been

:17:24. > :17:28.twice. The seasons don't work? No.

:17:29. > :17:32.Do you know some of them? No. I have not had the privilege of meeting

:17:33. > :17:38.them. But I am in awe of the sport. The physicality. The guys that

:17:39. > :17:44.tackle each otherp at such incredible forces. I'm in awe of

:17:45. > :17:47.your swag. I'm in awe. Looking good, man.

:17:48. > :17:50.Thank you, man. Do you like the strategy of it? I

:17:51. > :17:54.do. For someone in the UK, not growing

:17:55. > :18:04.up with the sport, obviously, soccer was the sport that I follow growing

:18:05. > :18:10.up. But I would always play Madden on the computer games. So starting

:18:11. > :18:14.to come over here, I am starting to understand it more it is

:18:15. > :18:18.fascinating. I tell you what, there is no other sport that creates such

:18:19. > :18:24.an atmosphere. I have never been to any other game. Even basketball but

:19:08. > :19:12.Driving the team downfield. Guano misses the upright and misses a

:19:13. > :19:18.field goal. Denver are down field, they tack on three. So the lead is

:19:19. > :19:25.now nine. The first two possessions of game this year, post season, 80

:19:29. > :19:34.Give Denver the credit for having the lead but it feels like they keep

:19:35. > :19:41.letting Carolina hang around. That would scare me. You felt that in the

:19:42. > :19:47.AFC championship game. They hung on. They hung on. A 20-18 win.

:19:48. > :19:53.The kick off for a touch back. Webb takes it. Carolina starting at their

:20:32. > :20:37.depends on the proximity of the people running towards you. If they

:20:38. > :20:46.are too far out, then bring it out. Take it back 108 or 109 yards, man.

:20:47. > :20:52.Under the old rules, it is hard to see a wall forming for you when you

:20:58. > :21:04.based on the first half, which team would you prefer to go against? As a

:21:09. > :21:14.get them in a position, they could be exposed. That is what is

:21:15. > :21:18.happening now. Right now, I would go for the Carolina Panthers' offence.

:21:19. > :21:26.And from a corner perspective in Carolina. The receivers are not

:22:01. > :22:08.gear! Off to the right. There is a pretty high-powered trio.

:22:09. > :22:16.Star power. Including the two best teams in the NFL. Battling it out

:22:28. > :22:35.Newton to hoist it up and it's caught! By Corey Brown. Between two

:22:45. > :22:50.looked like Shane Ray, the rookie first round pick, putting him on his

:22:51. > :22:56.wallet. How about Corey Brown seeing the ball and making the adjustment

:22:57. > :23:09.for another big play downfield for the Panthers?! So in one play

:23:10. > :23:15.Carolina has it at the Denver's 38. Newton sets up a screen. This could

:23:16. > :23:25.be trouble. Using speed to make something out of

:25:10. > :25:15.the football. Here comes DeMarcus Ware. He beats Michael Ore first and

:25:16. > :25:32.goes all of the way on the other side to pick up cam Newton.

:25:52. > :25:59.TJ Ward with the interception. The third turnover for the Panthers,

:26:00. > :26:06.and the Broncos' defence dominating. Do you have sympathy for cam Newton?

:26:07. > :26:11.Absolutely. He is trying his best. Putting the ball there. The

:26:12. > :26:16.receivers are coming down with it, he is getting hit all over the

:26:21. > :26:25.throw me down to the ground before it becomes a penalty? The answer is

:26:26. > :26:32.none. We don't want to criticise Ted Ginn,

:26:55. > :27:05.Cam puts the ball low. He catches it against the chest, not high.

:27:06. > :27:09.DeMarcus Ware, Von Miller, they are T-ing off cam Newton. Making me a

:27:10. > :27:17.happy man. It is taking a toll on him. He is

:27:18. > :27:20.making quick decisions. Can Carolina's offensive line doing

:27:21. > :27:24.anything about this? They will have to or keep in extra receivers to

:27:25. > :27:30.help him. Which is what they did on the last play. They had a tight end

:27:31. > :27:34.and a full back. They will not be able to hold up. The further they

:27:35. > :27:45.get down, the worse it will get for Carolina.

:27:46. > :27:49.And Denver have the ball themselves. Danny Trevathan beating them to the

:28:15. > :28:20.Between the drops. That one by Ginn hurting the cause.

:28:21. > :28:25.Anderson fighting out of the tackle. Fighting, fighting! Gets 10, 12, 13

:29:02. > :29:05.for time. We are down to under five minutes on the 3rd. Carolina's

:29:06. > :29:10.offence is unproductive. It is OK with the Broncos. Now they

:29:32. > :29:38.ball game! It is a loss of seven. Left side of the screen, Ealy

:29:39. > :29:44.working. Right there. Number 79, Michael Schofield. The right tackle.

:36:40. > :36:47.Offence. 5-yard penalty. Still 2nd down. Carolina led the NFL. But they

:36:48. > :36:52.did it because the defence forced a tonne of turnovers. They scored a

:37:27. > :37:31.Agree with what you said. Look at the offence. What players would you

:37:32. > :37:38.take if you were in the rest of the league? Not that many. You get down

:37:39. > :37:43.to it, Greg Olsen, Ryan Kalil, and Cam Newton but after that, not many

:37:44. > :37:46.players. You are right. One of the other things Denver has done so

:37:47. > :37:57.well, tackle after the catch. Not giving up much yardage after the

:39:04. > :39:06.was talking about how defence wins championships. He was talking about

:40:34. > :40:38.adjusting to watch teams do. If they give it to Peyton Manning I will go

:40:39. > :40:41.crazy. John Elway deserves credit as well. They talk about the Orange

:40:42. > :40:46.Crush but that was in the late 70s, wasn't it? He put these teams

:40:47. > :40:50.together to win this year. He did that two years ago and rebuild it

:40:51. > :40:55.with the defence this year. It is a one-year thing. The only team that

:40:56. > :41:02.has ever done that, Miami in 1982 had the best defence in the league,

:41:03. > :41:06.the killer bees. Two years ago the best offence in the league with Dan

:41:07. > :41:12.Marino. No other team in history has been able to turn it around that

:41:13. > :41:17.quickly. It is unusual for a general manager to put defence ahead of

:41:18. > :41:23.offence? It is for John Elway and the Denver Broncos. It is unusual to

:41:24. > :41:27.have the number one offence and two years later the none one defence.

:41:28. > :41:33.Let's see if this number one defence can hold out in the final quarter.

:41:34. > :41:38.COMMENTATOR They are 15 minutes away from winning Super Bowl L. A lead of

:41:48. > :41:53.record you could possibly have and finally win a Super Bowl, winning

:41:54. > :41:59.one already with Indianapolis, but maybe one in his last game, in a

:42:00. > :42:03.game in which he might not score an offensive touchdown? The only

:42:04. > :42:07.touchdown was scored in defence. The best part of what he has done so

:42:08. > :42:11.far, he has limited turnovers. One when they had a chance to go in for

:42:12. > :42:15.at least a field goal and through the interception. If they take care

:42:16. > :42:18.of this ball in the last 50 minutes they will love what they are getting

:42:19. > :42:26.from their defence. Just do not put them in a horrible spot. -- 15

:42:27. > :42:31.minutes. Five sacks. Three take aways. Seven points and scoring a

:42:32. > :42:35.touchdown themselves. Something you noted earlier, all these statistics

:42:36. > :42:39.are great but it is also the things that are not statistics. They have

:42:40. > :42:45.thrown the Carolina offence out of sync. Cam Newton's mechanics are. It

:42:46. > :42:54.has been a hard slog for Carolina Panthers. -- mechanics are off. He

:42:55. > :42:58.has been sparred with the football. And he will start the fourth

:42:59. > :43:04.quarter. Sanders with the catch out near the 50-yard line. Maclean on

:43:05. > :43:09.the tackle. Gained 16 and the flag in play. Will this go against Denver

:43:10. > :43:13.or spiking the ball in front of the defender, Oregon's Carolina for

:43:14. > :43:19.taking the offence and celebrating the 1st down? -- all go against

:43:20. > :43:24.Carolina. Celebrating, the usually let go. But when it is spiked in the

:43:25. > :43:34.face of a guy they will spike you for it. Defence, another 33. 15-yard

:43:35. > :43:38.penalty. 1st down, Denver. Surprising for me because I saw the

:43:39. > :43:43.spike happen and Boston took offense. Sometimes they let it go.

:43:44. > :43:51.It was not a spike. Austen slatted out of his hands. Just downplay. --

:43:52. > :43:59.Austen. Not smart by Boston and Carolina. Inside the bawdy. Manning

:44:00. > :44:08.is hit and fumbled. -- inside the 40-yard line. Johnson might have

:44:09. > :44:15.been the one that knocked it out. A loss of five on the play. You feel

:44:16. > :44:19.right now with how Caroline is going, if the defence does not

:44:20. > :44:24.create a change play or even a score, they cannot win this Super

:44:25. > :44:29.Bowl. Going back to the points they got against Arizona and the defence,

:44:30. > :44:39.including a six by Lou Keighley to generate points that day... 42.

:44:40. > :44:46.Anderson. Half a yard and that is it. Johnson on the tackle for

:44:47. > :44:50.Carolina. Peyton Manning in his fourth Super Bowl, with his fourth

:44:51. > :44:55.head Coach. Winning a Super Bowl with Indianapolis. Lost in the Super

:44:56. > :45:02.Bowl with the Colts against New Orleans. And two years ago defeated

:45:03. > :45:08.by Seattle with John Fox. Now working with Gary Kubiak. That could

:45:09. > :45:09.be a record that is never broken. Four Super Bowls with four different

:45:10. > :45:29.head coaches. 3rd 14. Manning. The ball is lose. Getting the sack!

:45:30. > :45:31.Did Carolina get it? No signal. Eli with his third sack, forced the

:45:32. > :45:46.interception. They say blue ball. Carolina

:45:47. > :45:51.football. Twice on that drive, the Panthers

:45:52. > :45:59.knocked the ball out of Manning's hand. They forced a turnover. Is it

:46:00. > :46:04.the spark they needed? I was going to begin the next chat by saying we

:46:05. > :46:09.have hardly spoken about Peyton Manning. All evening, bar the

:46:10. > :46:15.build-up to the game. Does that surprise you? We knew he was not

:46:16. > :46:20.going to be the guy to win the game. But he had to make sure he operated

:46:21. > :46:25.within what the team wanted to do. He could not turn the ball over. Now

:46:26. > :46:27.look what happened. Now Carolina has momentum. They have to make it

:46:28. > :46:33.happen. Now when we talk about him, we talk

:46:34. > :46:38.about the play. Negative. You cannot do this as a quarterback. You must

:47:37. > :47:40.the Panathinaikos 16-7. Den fors turned it over with an

:47:41. > :48:02.intersuggestion. Picked off by Kony Ealy. Having an incredible day.

:48:03. > :48:13.Now a sack and a forced fumble. Ealy is starting a Super Bowl record,

:48:14. > :48:17.joining Reggie White with three sacks.

:48:18. > :48:21.He may have recovered that fumble. It looked like Charles Johnson got

:48:22. > :48:29.to a first. Maybe Ealy was the one to pull it in. What a game he has

:48:30. > :48:32.had hustling all over the field. A big swing there. Carolina starting

:48:33. > :48:49.at mid-field. Trailing by nine. There is a first down.

:48:50. > :48:54.A gain of 16. You look back at Peyton Manning. You

:48:55. > :49:00.see the strip there by Kony Ealy, knocking the ball free.

:49:01. > :49:05.Excellent play to catch him before Manning can launch the ball forward.

:49:41. > :49:50.point of attack for Jonell than Stewart to slither through.

:49:51. > :49:56.Sylvester Williams is on the tackle. The defences for the teams have

:49:57. > :50:03.combined for ten sacks tonight. Five turnovers. A defensive score by

:50:04. > :50:17.Denver. This game reminds me a little bit of that Colt Cowboys

:50:18. > :50:24.Super Bowl win. Super Bowl V? Yes. 2nd and 7.

:50:25. > :50:31.A lot of Broncos fans in the end zone to the right.

:50:50. > :50:55.Protecting the football is important. You are in scoring range.

:50:56. > :51:03.You are down two scores. I think Denver will try to double

:51:16. > :51:20.I think the left tackle, Michael Ore jumped.

:51:21. > :51:24.The tackles for Carolina, no pun intended, but they are jumping

:51:25. > :51:30.around like cats. Look, getting out of there fast.

:51:31. > :51:33.Why? Because of the speed of DeMarcus Ware and Von Miller. They

:53:17. > :53:20.Colts. Hall Of Famer led them to the score.

:53:21. > :53:36.But the lone touchdown would not be enough. With an air attack led by

:53:37. > :53:43.Namath and a solid ground game led by Max Mill, they ploughed down the

:53:44. > :53:51.field for a touch down and true to his word, Namath and his team worked

:53:52. > :53:56.away with their Super Bowl victory. COMMENTATOR: The Jets are champions

:53:57. > :54:01.of the football world. That was Joe Namath then, there is

:54:02. > :54:06.now. He was introduced to the crowd

:54:07. > :54:11.before the game. Shows you that some things don't change.

:55:50. > :56:01.Can you guess what it is about? No. A Bertow Santo Ing Sandt -- Alberto

:56:02. > :56:04.Sandtows. You knew there would be questions.

:56:05. > :56:09.They have made their decision, they have Peyton Manning with them riding

:56:10. > :56:18.all the way with him and that is what they should do.

:56:19. > :56:22.It is really bad to watch the Denver Broncos struggling like this on

:56:23. > :56:29.offence. They should be ahead by more right now.

:56:30. > :56:35.And Gary Kubiak has had offences with out great quarter backs before.

:56:36. > :56:39.John Fox when he was there, he was a defensive coach with the greatest

:56:40. > :56:43.offence in the league. Now they have an offensive coach and a defensive

:56:44. > :56:54.league. It is strange. It is. And at the time it is in the

:56:55. > :56:59.UK that could confuse people. You know about the end zone, we are here

:57:00. > :57:07.but do you think that the Stadium is very Denver? Two thirds, I think. Or

:58:58. > :59:03.Carolina's defence get another stop? Denver, they have missed ten in a

:59:04. > :59:07.row. Manning on the third. Norman! A three and out by the

:59:08. > :59:23.defence of Carolina. This is a play call of vintage

:59:24. > :59:27.Peyton Manning. Into a tight window when the defence is playing well and

:01:31. > :01:35.terrible on 3rd down. Right now you look at 2nd 14. Denver have done

:01:36. > :01:39.this to teams all day long. They have dominated from the defence side

:01:40. > :01:46.and made everything second, 3rd long. One reason why they are the

:01:47. > :01:53.number one defence in the NFL. Could be saying good luck. Newton tipped

:03:56. > :03:59.Manning, to keep on getting in bad positions, it is just a terrible

:04:00. > :04:05.job. You could say the same thing about Carolina. With offence, they

:04:06. > :04:09.have played better than Denver. They are playing a little bit better than

:04:10. > :04:17.Denver. When was the last time we saw Cam Newton smile in this game?

:04:18. > :04:20.Matt, do you think his lack of excitement is affecting the

:04:37. > :04:41.and he does not look like he is having a good time. He might be a

:04:42. > :04:46.front runner. The Denver Broncos have taken the excitement away from

:04:47. > :04:51.him. He has got nothing to celebrate. No nothing. They are

:04:52. > :04:54.doing nothing on offence. You talked about the Denver crowd, they are

:04:55. > :04:59.making enough noise to force them into a silent count and that is

:05:38. > :05:44.smartphones. And much longer before we go back to the hotel and when can

:05:45. > :05:50.I get room service? All kids love room service. Peyton Manning. 94

:08:24. > :08:28.return. Called Wood has done a good job of not allowing them to get any

:08:29. > :08:33.proper term. We watched the Colquitt brothers in this league. I am

:08:34. > :08:42.feeling my age. I went to school with their uncle Jimmy in Tennessee

:08:43. > :08:46.and their father, Craig, a long-time punter for the Pittsburgh Steelers,

:09:15. > :09:25.Bowl. Trevathan on the tackle. With Marshall. A gain of one. A missed 44

:09:26. > :09:30.yard field goal changes the entire dynamic of this last five minutes of

:09:31. > :09:33.the Super Bowl. It changes that and of course, Carolina could not get

:09:34. > :09:45.anything generated on 1st down. They are always behind. 2nd 9. Jumping

:10:30. > :10:52.Broncos. Ward! Miller was even being held and he

:10:53. > :10:59.got the sack. And fumbled. If you have the tackles of Carolina, it

:11:00. > :11:05.will be hard to recover from number 74, and another 73, it has been

:11:06. > :11:08.difficult. Giving up the strip sack early in the game and he gives up

:15:33. > :15:42.All scoring play and turnovers in the NFL... Did a body parts touched

:15:43. > :15:47.the ground? Before it broke play? I don't think so. I'm with you on that

:15:48. > :15:50.one. If you are Carolina, you assume that he is in now, because

:15:51. > :15:58.otherwise, they get the chance to run the clock on. The reason why

:15:59. > :16:04.they go up for two, with a two conversion, they can go up by two

:16:05. > :16:12.touchdowns. As opposed to 13 points. That means two touchdowns. Look at

:16:13. > :16:16.it here. Running right over Kuechly. He kept his feet working and

:16:17. > :16:21.spinning, Thomas Davis came in to try and help. Nothing touches, Tre

:16:22. > :16:25.Boston was trying to help. I thought he spun it and got it to the end

:16:26. > :16:30.zone before anything hit the ground. Look at how he stays up. That is a

:16:31. > :16:34.tight down. I don't know how you would change that. All you have to

:16:35. > :16:39.do is break the front part of the White goal line. Not getting into

:16:40. > :16:45.the black but the very front part. Like CJ Anderson committee did that.

:16:46. > :16:49.The prevailing thought was Carolina would run the ball better then

:16:50. > :16:50.Denver. REFEREE: After review, the ruling of the field is confirmed, it

:16:51. > :17:13.is a touchdown. So, Denver will go for the two point

:17:14. > :17:29.conversion. Go up by two touchdowns, 14 points.

:17:30. > :17:44.Throwing it, getting the two points. Bennie Fowler.

:17:45. > :17:52.Going right around Roman Harper. Making it an easy throw for Peyton

:17:53. > :18:00.Manning. Now, Denver with a lead of 14. Bob, could that be the final

:18:01. > :18:07.throw? For Peyton Manning? What a great way to finish if so. We have

:18:08. > :18:17.seen him throw bigger throws. That looks like vintage, a dart inside.

:18:18. > :18:21.What a way to finish the drive. For Denver. Started by Von Miller, a

:18:22. > :18:33.sack and forced fumble, Ward recovered it. Peyton Manning's

:21:31. > :21:34.Wolfe finishing him here. That's perfectly legal, within the one

:21:39. > :21:46.gone for the Panthers. They hit him from the very beginning. It goes

:21:47. > :21:50.right through to the end. It's been a nightmare for Cam Newton and the

:27:28. > :27:39.Denver calling for a time-out. One minute one seconds to go. A huge

:27:43. > :27:52.congratulations, great sportsmanship by Josh Norman. In what could be

:27:53. > :27:58.Peyton Manning's final game. The way he's gone about these two

:28:04. > :28:12.Just how I watched him go through Media Day, I didn't hear the normal

:28:45. > :28:51.The Tom Brady championship game, his number one nemesis in the course of

:28:52. > :28:58.his career. The celebration begins. The Mile High city. DeMarcus Ware,

:28:59. > :29:03.Von Miller, they have terrorised Cam Newton tonight. Now, they will give

:29:04. > :29:13.their head coach, Gary Kubiak, a traditional Gatorade bath. They had

:29:18. > :29:22.you must have planned ahead. Ready for the Gatorade!

:29:23. > :29:33.All that matters is what is on the scoreboard.

:29:34. > :29:37.Tackled with 43. The fewest total yards for a Super Bowl winner. It

:29:38. > :29:41.does not matter, with the stats and all that other stuff, it is what is

:29:42. > :29:46.on the scoreboard at the end of the game. If they put numbers up against

:29:47. > :29:54.Seattle comedy Marius Thomas, with catchers, they lost in that game.

:29:55. > :30:00.The crowds swell along the sideline. There is the dumping of Gatorade

:30:01. > :30:04.overhead coach Gary Kubiak. A big hug from DeMarcus Ware and Von

:30:05. > :30:10.Miller. They spent many years with him at the Dallas Cowboys.

:30:11. > :30:13.Never able to get to a Super Bowl. CJ Anderson. The game clinching

:30:14. > :30:32.touchdown. How about the gutsy move from John

:30:33. > :30:39.Elway to remove a winning coach? Hunted down by Danny Trevathan. That

:30:40. > :30:41.will be the final play. The clock has stopped with 11 seconds, there

:30:42. > :30:55.is a flag. We will check and see what the flag

:30:56. > :30:59.is, but all smiles for Peyton Manning, Gary Kubiak and the Denver

:31:00. > :31:03.Broncos. It was an adjustment, trying to learn a new offence this

:31:04. > :31:11.deep into your career. They have some rocky moments earlier in the

:31:12. > :31:18.season. The Sheriff's best rodeo. Peyton Manning saying it might be

:31:19. > :31:24.his last rodeo. I think he has shown that maybe that so-called lack of

:31:25. > :31:31.adaptation that people have hit him with is really a little bit

:31:32. > :31:35.overblown. Unnecessary roughness, offence, number 14,

:31:36. > :31:39.overblown. Unnecessary roughness, 15-yard penalty, plus the situation

:31:40. > :31:43.requires a ten second run-off. Please put one second on the game

:31:44. > :31:51.clock. The clock will start on my ready. Joe Webb called for the

:31:52. > :31:57.penalty. Four different coaches in four Super Bowls for Peyton Manning.

:31:58. > :32:04.There is a degree of adaptation right there. A big hug from John

:32:05. > :32:10.Elway. John knows what it's like to end your career with a win. Look at

:32:11. > :32:14.the smile on Peyton Manning's face. The Denver Broncos have defeated the

:32:15. > :32:23.Carolina Panthers 24-10, capturing Super Bowl 50.

:32:24. > :32:29.STUDIO: Wow. Even that final penalty felt like a kick in the teeth, Mike

:32:30. > :32:32.Carlson. Yeah, I mean they just weren't going to let the Panthers

:32:33. > :32:40.get out of here gracefully. Incredible. All the cameras, no

:32:41. > :32:46.matter how strong that performance was defensively, those cameras

:32:47. > :32:53.aren't going to be off Peyton Manning, are they? Don't cry. He's

:32:54. > :33:02.crying. It's OK. I know it hurts. Peyton Manning's final rodeo, maybe,

:33:03. > :33:14.he gets to walk off a winner. I know what this feels like. No better

:33:15. > :33:21.feeling. I doubt that there is. Wow. As we continue to look at Peyton.

:33:22. > :33:26.There's a bit of the idea of the golden ticker tape that's raining

:33:27. > :33:31.down on the Levi's Stadium, as you look at the Manning box, with Eli

:33:32. > :33:37.and his dad Archie. How would you sum up that final, Jason? I love

:33:38. > :33:41.defensive football and it was a pleasure to watch. But you know, I

:33:42. > :33:46.played against Peyton Manning a lot and it's good to see him go out like

:33:47. > :33:51.that, it really is. The Manning family is a great family. It's a

:33:52. > :33:55.pleasure to see. We will get some reaction before Denver are presented

:33:56. > :33:59.with the Lombardi Trophy. It doesn't look like Cam Newton has been able

:34:00. > :34:04.to get to Manning. Normally we see the head coaches congratulate... He

:34:05. > :34:10.got sacked before he could get there! I will be fair to Cam and say

:34:11. > :34:17.I could see him heading in that direction, but there is such a

:34:18. > :34:22.melee. As you look at the pictures, Osi, the losing team get off. If you

:34:23. > :34:25.look at some of our cup finals in football, the losing teams stay on

:34:26. > :34:30.the pitch and watch the winning team picked up the trophy. Coaches use it

:34:31. > :34:34.to motivate them for the next season, remembering the pain. But

:34:35. > :34:39.here, as always, the Panthers are straight off. I've always loved that

:34:40. > :34:43.in the NFL, they let you know you have lost, get off the field right

:34:44. > :34:48.now. We have no room for you! Get out of here. Carolina had a

:34:49. > :34:53.fantastic season and it's really tough to see it ending like this. A

:34:54. > :35:00.piece of confetti came into our booth and it fell right onto Osi. It

:35:01. > :35:07.does seem appropriate. Not a lot to choose between them but the

:35:08. > :35:12.turnovers stand out. Four for Carolina, two for Denver. The lowest

:35:13. > :35:16.total yards for a Super Bowl winner, but that doesn't matter, Jason. All

:35:17. > :35:21.that matters is you go home with the trophy. Especially if you are the

:35:22. > :35:27.number one defence. It puts a stamp on who you were, it might be one of

:35:28. > :35:34.the better defences in history. The key is on each level they were

:35:35. > :35:37.really, really good. The front three, the front five, fantastic.

:35:38. > :35:44.The two inside linebackers, incredibly mobile. The secondary,

:35:45. > :35:52.not a weak point when Stewart was in there. Three great cornerbacks. Part

:35:53. > :35:59.of the reason that the pass rush worked so well, Newton didn't have

:36:00. > :36:04.guys open to throw two. Just three touchdowns. Denver's first came from

:36:05. > :36:09.their defense. Von Miller, and eventually Jackson went over. He

:36:10. > :36:14.went right around that guy, he put a clown suit on the offensive tackle,

:36:15. > :36:19.got the strip, forced a fumble, what an incredible game this guy had.

:36:20. > :36:27.This has to be the MVP of the Super Bowl. Tremendous football player. We

:36:28. > :36:36.are waiting to find out who the MVP will be. I don't think it's a

:36:37. > :36:39.question. It's got to be Von Miller. But as we said earlier, Mike, when

:36:40. > :36:48.fans and journalists are both involved... Reason goes out the

:36:49. > :36:57.window! You can never anti-anything. As far as Carolina's touchdown came,

:36:58. > :37:04.it was from the offence as well. Theirs came from Jonathan Stewart.

:37:05. > :37:11.Earlier in the game, Jason, he went out with an ankle injury. He never

:37:12. > :37:15.looked the same. He is important on their offence on 1st downs. They

:37:16. > :37:20.weren't able to do anything on 1st down all game, running the ball.

:37:21. > :37:28.There is so much, I don't know whether it's anger or disappointment

:37:29. > :37:30.from people on social media... Could somebody please tell the Panthers

:37:31. > :37:35.offensive co-ordinator to stop dialling up the run on 1st down?

:37:36. > :37:40.It's obvious to people watching, it was obvious to you guys. And Shula

:37:41. > :37:48.is up here, so why wouldn't he change? Two series in a row, they

:37:49. > :37:55.play faked on 1st down and completed passes, and that was it. They never

:37:56. > :37:59.did it again. I think they tried to do what they always do, and

:38:00. > :38:05.hopefully it kicks in eventually. And it didn't. Nobody was able to

:38:06. > :38:09.force them to adjust this season. The Denver Broncos did that and they

:38:10. > :38:13.were unable to adjust, they kept doing the same things they did the

:38:14. > :38:17.entire season, it wasn't working, they had no answer and I had no

:38:18. > :38:23.records after Denver shut them down initially. Interesting to see the

:38:24. > :38:28.papers here tomorrow. Cam Newton will come in for criticism, I would

:38:29. > :38:35.imagine. Particularly for being more static than we expect. Whilst you

:38:36. > :38:38.say he wasn't as mobile, he wasn't as nimble, he didn't run as much as

:38:39. > :38:43.previous games, that doesn't give credit to Dem book on does it? I

:38:44. > :38:47.promise you, when I watched the Denver defense, I couldn't

:38:48. > :38:51.understand why everyone was predicting a blow out. The way

:38:52. > :38:57.Denver plays, they are the number one defense against the run. With

:38:58. > :39:01.the pass rushers on the outside, there was no way Carolina would be

:39:02. > :39:04.able to move the ball the way they had the entire season. For some

:39:05. > :39:09.reason everyone else thought different. They took Dawson out and

:39:10. > :39:13.they forced him to throw to his other targets and they were not

:39:14. > :39:21.making any plays. When they did get a good match-up, they didn't finish

:39:22. > :39:27.for him. Short of a 1st down in the fourth quarter... On cats that was

:39:28. > :39:32.maybe important... I never saw a blow out. -- one catch that was

:39:33. > :39:38.maybe important... I watched Carolina against Seattle. What I

:39:39. > :39:42.didn't keep in mind was that Carolina's defence created half

:39:43. > :39:47.those points in the first half. Their defence played really well. A

:39:48. > :39:54.hell of a game. But they couldn't create the points for the offense.

:39:55. > :40:01.Let's take a look at the final one which came off the back of Von

:40:02. > :40:06.Miller again. Another incredible play by that guy. Not only did he

:40:07. > :40:11.not the ball out. Tremendous. I can't say enough about the job Von

:40:12. > :40:19.Miller, DeMarcus Ware... The push up the middle, and the secondary,

:40:20. > :40:24.giving them time. A thoroughly dominant performance by the Denver

:40:25. > :40:31.Broncos. Tight coverage all day, it gave them time to get there. It was

:40:32. > :40:40.effective. Anderson just kept on pounding right there.

:40:41. > :40:52.CJ Anderson, let's not forget, wasn't in the draft. And drafted --

:40:53. > :40:56.undrafted player, CJ Anderson. It shows the beauty of the sport.

:40:57. > :41:00.People can come from not far off nowhere... Nowadays there are more

:41:01. > :41:02.chances than ever because
