:00:16. > :00:20.A welcome back to Gothenburg, date two. The moment of truth for some

:00:20. > :00:24.of Britain's brightest stars. In the women's pole vault, Holly

:00:24. > :00:28.Bleasdale has been on brilliant form this season. She will have her

:00:28. > :00:36.eyes on gold. Shara Proctor goes in the women's long jump. After a

:00:36. > :00:41.brilliant performance in Birmingham, she will have high hopes. Robbie

:00:41. > :00:46.Grabarz will be looking to do the business in the men's high jump.

:00:46. > :00:56.While on the track it's the turn of the speed merchants, the men's 60m

:00:56. > :00:59.

:00:59. > :01:09.- an event in which Britain has Christie gets the gold. Hears the

:01:09. > :01:13.

:01:13. > :01:22.European number one. Jackson under Chambers winning it, he's got what

:01:22. > :01:26.Welcome back to the Scandinavium Arena, a venue which has seen its

:01:26. > :01:29.fair share of British success through the years. Not just

:01:29. > :01:33.athletics but ice-skating as well with John Curry and Robin Cousins

:01:33. > :01:35.both winning gold here. One athlete who won't be winning goal this

:01:35. > :01:40.afternoon is Dwain Chambers, he failed to progress through the

:01:40. > :01:50.rounds of the 60m. British glory hopes are still very much on the

:01:50. > :01:53.

:01:53. > :02:03.Shara Proctor. Holly Bleasdale, she sails over this time. It is bronze

:02:03. > :02:04.

:02:04. > :02:13.for Britain. Perri Shakes-Drayton has taken this field apart. Eilidh

:02:13. > :02:21.Child of Scotland looking Supreme. Chana Cox is still leading. --

:02:21. > :02:31.Shala Cox. Mukhtar Mohamed of Great Britain in the perfect place. Jenny

:02:31. > :02:40.

:02:40. > :02:46.Meadows is going to win this one. hours ahead of us. Those three big

:02:46. > :02:51.field events coming up first. Shara Proctor, Hala -- Holly Bleasdale

:02:52. > :02:58.and Robbie Grabarz. Then we have the women's 400m semi-final. Perri

:02:58. > :03:04.Shakes-Drayton, Shana Cox and Eilidh Child. And then the men's

:03:04. > :03:12.800m semi-finals. No Michael Rimmer, but Joe Thomas and Mukhtar Mohamed

:03:12. > :03:22.are there. No Dwain Chambers. A kind so Beattie will be going in

:03:22. > :03:45.

:03:45. > :03:49.be captain Jenny Meadows in the I couldn't come to Gothenburg

:03:49. > :03:55.without catching up with my friend and erstwhile rival, Christian

:03:55. > :04:05.Olsson, the Olympic triple-jump champion back in 2004. We caught up

:04:05. > :04:05.

:04:05. > :04:10.on old times. It's a very familiar Good afternoon to Denise Lewis,

:04:10. > :04:14.Colin Jackson and Paula Radcliffe. Lobster look forward to and also to

:04:14. > :04:17.look back from this morning's session. But first we are going to

:04:17. > :04:23.reflect on the closing of the Don Valley Stadium. Sheffield City

:04:23. > :04:28.Council have made the decision to demolish it. Denise, very emotive,

:04:28. > :04:31.Olympic legacy and Jess Ennis trains there. Yes, she trains there.

:04:31. > :04:36.But Post Olympics, it's not the legacy, the athletics legacy we'd

:04:36. > :04:40.like to see. It's a very sad day, very disappointing. The local

:04:40. > :04:44.authorities have issues with funding and having to maintain a

:04:44. > :04:48.facility of that scale. But when I think about when I was a young kid,

:04:49. > :04:54.walking into the first big stadium that I've ever walked into, I was

:04:54. > :04:57.inspired. It was the first taste of athletics and that sat for me.

:04:57. > :05:03.difficult for us to be objective about it because we do have

:05:03. > :05:10.personal memories. Absolutely. I ran my fastest ever 110 metres

:05:11. > :05:15.hurdles in the UK at that very stadium. 13.02. It has a certain

:05:15. > :05:18.place and my heart but you are always disappointed when a major

:05:18. > :05:23.athletics stadium banishes off the map because there is nothing to

:05:23. > :05:27.replace it of that scale and in that area in the UK. What about you,

:05:27. > :05:31.what you're feeling about it? It's a very difficult decision for

:05:31. > :05:36.Sheffield council because they are aware of the broader PR and how it

:05:36. > :05:39.affects how people see them. It's symbolic of the state of track and

:05:39. > :05:45.field and athletics in Britain as well. It's the end of an era. Big

:05:45. > :05:48.city stadiums that we could fill an kids could go down to an train. We

:05:48. > :05:51.talk about the legacy of the Olympics and how people were

:05:51. > :05:55.inspired but the actual numbers aren't going up in athletics. The

:05:55. > :06:00.number of kids going down to local tracks is an increasing and we need

:06:00. > :06:05.to do something about that. 700,000 a year was the figure that

:06:05. > :06:08.Sheffield City Council talked about subsidising this venue. In the

:06:08. > :06:15.light of Kat, Denise, it's obviously been a very difficult

:06:16. > :06:19.decision for them, they've got a decaying stadium - what do you do?

:06:19. > :06:23.Absolutely. We are passionate and talking about athletics, but that

:06:23. > :06:29.only serves a small part of the community. It's not an easy

:06:29. > :06:32.decision but, you know, they've had to make it and it's sad. It's also

:06:33. > :06:37.worth saying that there is another facility they are putting money

:06:37. > :06:44.into. Sheffield will still have a track. Yes, it will be on a much

:06:44. > :06:46.smaller scale. The running cost of that is about 60,000 a year. For

:06:47. > :06:52.them to use and to run, it's far more feasible for them. We

:06:52. > :06:58.understand that but we all feel it a little bit. We do. I had my

:06:58. > :07:08.furthest triple-jump there as well, 18.08, wind-assisted. We are

:07:08. > :07:09.

:07:09. > :07:15.this season has seen her climb to third in the women's 400. A supreme

:07:15. > :07:21.confidence was evident in round one. She looks really good, great form

:07:21. > :07:25.this winter. Set her store out to do well individually on the Flat.

:07:25. > :07:31.Not just wanting to be part of the relay squad. This is a really

:07:31. > :07:41.strong performance from Perri in the first round. 51.70. That's not

:07:41. > :07:41.

:07:41. > :07:47.a bad start at all. Eilidh Child has tucked herself in behind Perri

:07:47. > :07:52.on that UK list this season, and she took continued to shine. It

:07:52. > :07:58.wasn't a victorious outcome for Shana Cox, but he did enough in

:07:58. > :08:01.coming third in her heat to progress as a fastest loser. A

:08:01. > :08:10.strong British contingent in the men's 400, where Richard Strachan

:08:10. > :08:19.was strong and aggressive as he soared to a semi-final place.

:08:19. > :08:24.surge from the Ukrainian. Strachan, look at Jordier. He pushes Juarez

:08:24. > :08:28.in the back and he goes off into lane six. The first two will go

:08:28. > :08:33.through. Good, strong, solid performance, did what he needed to

:08:33. > :08:39.do. Nigel Levine was the winning star of the show at the recent

:08:39. > :08:43.Birmingham Grand Prix. He admitted his confidence was put in check by

:08:43. > :08:47.Maslak, beating him in their heat. While Michael Bingham was back in a

:08:47. > :08:53.British vest and managed to avoid some early bumping and barging to

:08:53. > :08:56.take his place in the semi-finals as well. Shara Proctor was a world

:08:56. > :09:02.indoor medallist last year and has designs on another podium finish

:09:02. > :09:06.after leaping into the final with a very first jump of 6.61. Robbie

:09:06. > :09:11.Grabarz confessed he was surprised to find a clearance of 2.23 was

:09:11. > :09:16.enough to earn him a final place. But the Olympic bronze medallist

:09:16. > :09:19.promised there are greater heights to come. Holly Bleasdale is in a

:09:19. > :09:24.similar position to Proctor. Medallist at the world's last year,

:09:24. > :09:31.a favourite to follow suit this year at the Europeans. She was

:09:31. > :09:34.impressively clear up of 4.56 and has Golden hopes now. Laura Muir

:09:34. > :09:39.won her first G B Senior best in her native Scotland in January. But

:09:39. > :09:42.this 3000 metre heats was a big step up in class. Moram you're

:09:42. > :09:48.doing her best here. That's the world indoor record holder she's

:09:48. > :09:54.trying to get past. Laura Muir of Scotland, just 19. Wright appeared

:09:54. > :09:59.with two world class athletes. Look at Boroughmuir. She's got to get in

:09:59. > :10:03.the top to mark up. If she does that she will be through. What a

:10:03. > :10:12.great run by the youngster. Rodriguez wins it and Laura Muir,

:10:12. > :10:16.the race of her life. Bouncing back from shoulder and knee injuries,

:10:16. > :10:21.world indoor champion Yamile Aldama is improving with every competition

:10:21. > :10:26.and make the final with her first round jump of 13.92. Jo Thomas has

:10:26. > :10:30.shaken off a cold and looks hot to trot in the men's 800m. His main

:10:30. > :10:33.passion is rock music but he's on a roll with his athletics as well.

:10:33. > :10:38.These championships on a new experience for Mukhtar Mohamed.

:10:38. > :10:42.After showing his naivety at first, he regained control and ran through

:10:42. > :10:46.to the semi-finals. Michael Rimmer won the Birmingham Grand Prix 800m

:10:46. > :10:53.in a European leading time. At times can count for little in

:10:53. > :10:58.Championships, as he found to his cost. It's the Belorussian out in

:10:58. > :11:03.front. Cameramen get there? I don't think he's going to be able to.

:11:03. > :11:10.He's going to have to rely on a fastest loser. Michael Rimmer not

:11:10. > :11:15.getting that one light at -- that one right at all. After an injury

:11:15. > :11:20.wrecked 2012, Jenny Meadows was back to defend her 800m title, and

:11:20. > :11:23.the team captain hoped to lead by example. This is where the lack of

:11:23. > :11:28.training might come into play here, because you can't really switch

:11:28. > :11:37.through the gears in the same way. That determination which she's

:11:37. > :11:47.always had is still there. Jenny is safely through in third. A few more

:11:47. > :12:01.

:12:01. > :12:10.Nevin Yannick won the race for Turkey in a European leading time

:12:10. > :12:16.of 7.89 - also a national record. O'Rourke was fourth, just one

:12:16. > :12:21.hundredth outside a medal. James Dasaolu was impressive in the first

:12:21. > :12:31.round of the men's 60m. Qualifying comfortably in his European Indoor

:12:31. > :12:32.

:12:32. > :12:42.before, though. But he now has a new coach and new ambitions to

:12:42. > :12:43.

:12:43. > :12:47.resurrect a career that somewhat stalled in 2012. -- Harry a kind so

:12:47. > :12:57.we did. As Goodwin Chambers, he had endured in injury hit build-up to

:12:57. > :13:02.

:13:02. > :13:06.position. He may well get through as one of the fastest losers, but

:13:06. > :13:13.Dwain Chambers still clearly not approaching his best form. This

:13:13. > :13:17.isn't going to be his championship unless something dramatic happens.

:13:17. > :13:25.His frustration and anger were on full show at the finish. A wounded

:13:25. > :13:35.He walked past Phil Jones without offering a comment yesterday but he

:13:35. > :13:36.

:13:36. > :13:40.did come back today and this is $:/STARTFEED. Can you put into

:13:40. > :13:44.words how you feel a day on? Unfortunately I ran out of time. It

:13:44. > :13:49.was a gamble between getting myself ready for the Championships and

:13:49. > :13:51.trying to get myself pain-free. I had to be smart enough to get

:13:51. > :13:58.myself pain-free and hopefully my ability would have been sufficient

:13:58. > :14:02.enough to get me through these Championships. It didn't happen.

:14:02. > :14:07.Hindsight is always 2020, do you regret doing it the way you did?

:14:07. > :14:10.wish I had - in hindsight, maybe I shouldn't have come here. I have

:14:10. > :14:14.never been injured in my whole career. This is the first time for

:14:14. > :14:17.me. If I ever get myself in this situation again, I will pull out

:14:17. > :14:24.and give somebody else an opportunity. On the start line, are

:14:24. > :14:33.you the person that wouldn't put yourself there if you didn't think

:14:33. > :14:38.you could do it? That's it. I was in a good position for these

:14:38. > :14:43.Championships. I didn't know how to deal with that. It is frustrating

:14:43. > :14:48.to know so many people put time and effort in to get me ready for this

:14:48. > :14:52.Championships. Peter Eriksson believed I was good enough to

:14:52. > :14:57.perform. Sorry I let them down. that what came boiling over at the

:14:57. > :15:02.end? Yeah, I care about what I do. It is important to show those

:15:02. > :15:06.emotions in a certain way. It shows you care. I wear my heart on my

:15:06. > :15:09.sleeves. It is something I work really hard for. At this level of

:15:09. > :15:13.sport, success and failure go hand in hand, so you have to treat them

:15:13. > :15:17.the same. Underperforming at this stage is unacceptable. I don't

:15:17. > :15:22.accept running 6.78. That is not me. That is why I had an outburst like

:15:22. > :15:27.that. I didn't want to do that. It showed that I was mad at my

:15:27. > :15:30.performances. We know you care. I know you have said that you have

:15:30. > :15:36.always wanted to set a good example. I wonder whether you regret

:15:36. > :15:42.throwing your shirt down and any kids watching, your own included.

:15:42. > :15:47.Maybe that was not the best thing to do? Maybe not. It shows somebody

:15:47. > :15:53.who is passionate about what they do and it shows a desire as a

:15:53. > :15:57.sportsman. No athlete should accept running like that. If they don't

:15:57. > :16:01.show that emotion, whether it is on the track, or in their room, it is

:16:01. > :16:05.a natural reaction of a sportsman. I purely think it is a natural

:16:05. > :16:12.reaction of any human being who cares about what they do. You have

:16:12. > :16:16.to look at it in the situation it is. I was frustrated. It shows you

:16:16. > :16:20.have fire in your belly still going forward. You have had this

:16:20. > :16:24.experience. You have had injuries which you have not had to deal with

:16:24. > :16:29.before. So you have the fight going forward? I expect better of myself.

:16:29. > :16:34.I have had a lot of time and effort put in to me to get here. It is not

:16:34. > :16:36.just about me, it is about representing my country and

:16:36. > :16:44.improving our opportunities to compete against the best. I failed

:16:44. > :16:49.to do that. We appreciate you talking to us. Thank you. Thank you.

:16:49. > :16:54.Disappointed Dwain Chambers. Colin, it's because of his past that he is

:16:54. > :16:59.under the microscope more than most athletes. And the bigger news here

:16:59. > :17:02.was his reaction rather than his run, wasn't it? Yes. He said

:17:02. > :17:05.himself the reason - he gave a clear reason as to why he reacted

:17:05. > :17:10.that way. He has drive, determination and he underperformed.

:17:10. > :17:14.He wanted to express that. That is the way he felt. It was fair enough

:17:14. > :17:18.for him to express that. Different strokes for different folks. Some

:17:18. > :17:27.would have given an interview to Phil and explained the reasons why.

:17:27. > :17:32.He said he came here knowing he was 50/50. He struggled to raise his

:17:32. > :17:37.game. To give someone a day to reflect on what happened, I think

:17:37. > :17:43.it was a good idea. He would have said a different story if we had

:17:43. > :17:47.spoken to him yesterday. It is quite interesting that he felt a

:17:47. > :17:51.freedom to be himself. He is aware that people love to hate him and

:17:51. > :17:55.people are watching his every action? He is very aware of that.

:17:55. > :18:00.It comes across in his interview. He is aware of the fact that he

:18:00. > :18:05.wasn't a good role model to young sprinters coming through with what

:18:05. > :18:11.happened and he's gone some ways to try and do something about that.

:18:11. > :18:18.It's hard because he's always put up as the poster child for doping

:18:18. > :18:21.bans and spending time out. In many ways he has paid a lot higher price

:18:21. > :18:26.than many others. At the same time, he did do something wrong and he

:18:26. > :18:34.had to pay. We are not forgiving him for that. You can understand

:18:34. > :18:38.why he does feel this pressure to maybe have been not acting, but

:18:38. > :18:42.being the extra nice guy and not losing his temper. Now he seems to

:18:42. > :18:48.have relaxed. It was a big frustration, too. You question the

:18:48. > :18:51.guidance of coaches who know he has not been able to train. He says it

:18:51. > :18:57.is the first time he's been injured so it's been difficult for him. You

:18:57. > :19:01.know coming in whether you are in shape or not in shape. When there

:19:01. > :19:07.are others waiting who could have had their chance, should the

:19:07. > :19:11.coaches have thought about that? Sometimes as an athlete, I think

:19:11. > :19:16.sometimes you think I'm going to tap into something from experience

:19:16. > :19:20.that I have that can bring me through. Absolutely. It didn't work

:19:20. > :19:25.this time. That is where the coach should have seen that from the

:19:25. > :19:28.outside. What is interesting is that they did have that confidence

:19:28. > :19:32.in him and he has delivered in the past. They looked at him and

:19:32. > :19:36.thought he was the best of the bunch and was more likely, Colin,

:19:36. > :19:44.to deliver than anybody else? the top of his game, he is the

:19:44. > :19:48.third fastest 60m runner of all time. If you work out on

:19:48. > :19:52.percentages, you still think he is going to go under 6.60. It hugely

:19:52. > :19:58.backfired this time. It is a very difficult choice selectors have to

:19:58. > :20:03.make. They look at realistic targets and they think of what

:20:03. > :20:08.people's potentials are and they just try and weigh it up. Do you

:20:08. > :20:12.give somebody of youth the chance and they underperform and it

:20:12. > :20:16.shatters their career for another six years, or do you allow someone

:20:16. > :20:21.like Dwain Chambers to perform the way he performed? We all know that

:20:21. > :20:28.won't be the Dwain Chambers we will be talking about when he is healthy.

:20:28. > :20:37.That was the men's 60m heats yesterday. This morning, we saw the

:20:37. > :20:41.women's 60m heats. That meant an women's 60m heats. That meant an

:20:41. > :20:51.appearance for Asha Philip. Steve Cram can describe the action for us.

:20:51. > :21:14.

:21:14. > :21:22.She needs to come in the top four A good performance - 7.13. That's

:21:22. > :21:27.setting the benchmark. Cechova is pleased to come in the top three. A

:21:27. > :21:37.good performance from Asha Philip. Let's clarify all of that. A new

:21:37. > :21:50.

:21:50. > :21:58.is good to get the nerves out of is good to get the nerves out of

:21:58. > :22:04.the way? Definitely. I was in lane eight. To come out with my fastest,

:22:04. > :22:08.I'm elated. I'm really happy. been a long road back. Six years

:22:08. > :22:13.since you won that global title the first female woman to do that. What

:22:13. > :22:17.does it mean to be here? It is amazing. Like, you forget how it

:22:17. > :22:20.was like and how the team is. Now I'm back in it, I don't want to

:22:20. > :22:25.ever leave. I will keep it and stay here. With performances like that,

:22:25. > :22:35.it must be good for you. You feel like you belong again? I definitely

:22:35. > :22:42.do. A busy day for you tomorrow. We wish you well. Thank you.

:22:42. > :22:47.Hello, home team! We can take the isolated shot of Asha. A bit of

:22:47. > :22:51.pressure on her after that performance in Berlin, Denise?

:22:51. > :22:55.ran well. She has been consistent. I think it's so nice to see her

:22:55. > :23:00.coming back. She realises she's got to step up, she's got to perform

:23:00. > :23:04.here. There are some very quick girls out in the 60m. We saw a lot

:23:04. > :23:09.of personal bests being set. She held her form. She had a great

:23:09. > :23:18.start. She will need that. other two heats were won in 7.12.

:23:18. > :23:23.You have the athletes there and Asha Philip so she is in the mix,

:23:23. > :23:29.Colin? She goes - even with that time of 7.19, she is ranked eighth

:23:29. > :23:33.in the semifinal. It is a tight race all the way through. It will

:23:33. > :23:38.be exciting. From the shortest event to the longest event, Paula

:23:38. > :23:45.was watching and commentating on the red button, it was the women's

:23:45. > :23:49.3,000m with Lauren Howarth. What did you make of her performance?

:23:49. > :23:56.thought he was impressive. The way she ran the race, she attacked it

:23:56. > :24:02.with confidence, she wasn't afraid to follow and she qualified very

:24:02. > :24:12.easily. She showed that she's able to react to the Championship-type

:24:12. > :24:16.

:24:16. > :24:25.race. The athlete we see going past Lauren Howarth, Britton, she will

:24:25. > :24:30.be doing the World Cross-Country. How do you fancy her making that

:24:30. > :24:38.change? She's raced very well already over the cross-country. She

:24:38. > :24:43.is twice European Cross-Country Champion. She's in very good shape.

:24:43. > :24:47.She wants to come and run quicker. She hasn't had that success in the

:24:47. > :24:51.summer on the track and it is a different type of running. She is

:24:51. > :25:00.not - she doesn't have that change of pace that she might need indoors.

:25:00. > :25:05.She wasn't particularly comfortable. She was OK out there today. We will

:25:05. > :25:10.see Shara Proctor in the long jump shortly. Chris Tomlinson, who was

:25:10. > :25:16.sixth in the Olympic Games, this sixth in the Olympic Games, this

:25:16. > :25:21.was his third and final attempt. It was 7.98m. Watch out for the

:25:21. > :25:25.flailing right arm. He hasn't changed. It is great to see him

:25:25. > :25:31.back. I am sure his confidence would have taken a big knock seeing

:25:31. > :25:36.his compatriot do so well, Greg winning the Olympics. It is great

:25:36. > :25:42.to see him back through. He will need to tidy his technique, but the

:25:42. > :25:47.long jump is wide-open. He spoke to Phil afterwards. He said, "I know

:25:47. > :25:53.I'm going to jump big, but it just might not be tomorrow!" LAUGHTER

:25:53. > :25:59.Cover all your bets(!) Steve Lewis also went in the pole vault. We

:25:59. > :26:02.have watched Steve Lewis for a number of years. Today was a

:26:02. > :26:07.wonderful day for him. Qualification was going to be tough.

:26:07. > :26:15.When I was listening to anybody talk about how high they would need

:26:15. > :26:20.to jump, he produced it, 5.70m. I was surprised. In some of the other

:26:20. > :26:26.jumps, especially the women's pole vault, it didn't need that much to

:26:26. > :26:35.get through. 5.70m is huge. He has a big smile. The Olympic Champion

:26:35. > :26:40.is out there and jumping well. Absolutely. That wraps up this

:26:40. > :26:45.morning and yesterday's action. We will focus on today's now. We have

:26:45. > :26:50.three of our big field event chances out there now. There is

:26:50. > :26:58.Shara Proctor. She qualified well yesterday, Denise. Nobody jumped

:26:58. > :27:03.particularly well. Nobody got the automatic qualification. She was

:27:03. > :27:07.just short of automatic qualification? She has something to

:27:07. > :27:13.prove. She's jumped so well in the Olympics and wanted to come here

:27:13. > :27:17.and finish on the podium. She ran well there. Qualified comfortably

:27:17. > :27:27.with 6.61m. Only took one jump in the competition. It bodes well for

:27:27. > :27:34.

:27:34. > :27:38.the final. Yeah. She wasn't looking very good in qualification. I

:27:38. > :27:43.wonder with the Russian women, there is a little cloud over their

:27:43. > :27:52.performances thus far. Shara getting ready there. She's been

:27:52. > :27:59.introduced to the crowd. Nervous moments for the athletes. There's

:27:59. > :28:04.Holly Bleasdale, perhaps outside the relays, our best chance of a

:28:04. > :28:12.gold medal this weekend, Colin? would say that. She had a worry

:28:12. > :28:17.when she was jumping at 4.36m. When she switched to a harder pole. She

:28:17. > :28:21.made some very nice clearances, indeed. This is her qualification

:28:21. > :28:26.of 4.56m. A strong performance. I think a lot of the ladies will

:28:26. > :28:36.watch this and think, "She is in good shape." She can raise her game

:28:36. > :28:45.

:28:45. > :28:50.and take the gold today. What was She's made it very public that he

:28:50. > :28:54.wants to come and get a gold medal. I hope that doesn't hamper her. I'm

:28:54. > :29:00.hoping she doesn't mess up in the early heights, she keeps focused,

:29:00. > :29:06.strong and really delivers. Robbie Grabarz in the high jump will be

:29:07. > :29:10.hoping, I don't know about gold, but certainly for a medal. There is

:29:10. > :29:14.to meet trick, the Russian. But Robbie Grabarz likes the occasion.

:29:14. > :29:20.He does for Stam may be that showed a little bit yesterday. He didn't

:29:20. > :29:22.look that great in qualification, the arena wasn't very four, the

:29:22. > :29:32.atmosphere was and rocking. Hopefully it will be better today

:29:32. > :29:39.and he's going to be able to raise shape but not having the time.

:29:39. > :29:45.He's stronger, he's quicker, and that can affect jumpers. He's had

:29:45. > :29:48.to make a few adjustments. He is a big performer. He knows that it's

:29:48. > :29:54.there for the taking. Let's see how he deals with this very tricky

:29:54. > :29:58.surface. Often new services are laid for Championships and there's

:29:58. > :30:02.a bit of a different feel to what you have in training. Always. You

:30:02. > :30:06.mention about the timing and rhythm. Every single athlete prepares for

:30:06. > :30:14.their ultimate. Robbie has got faster but he's not a sprinter.

:30:14. > :30:18.He's got more bounce. He's got to balance these new things to really

:30:18. > :30:24.deliver the ultimate performance. I said at the beginning of the indoor

:30:24. > :30:29.season, I'm looking for him getting close to 2.40. I'm looking for him

:30:29. > :30:32.to come in, perhaps get a bit of a victory. You have to put the season

:30:32. > :30:37.into context and think, yes, outdoors is very important to him

:30:37. > :30:40.so he has to make the changes now. He might pay the price early, like

:30:40. > :30:50.now what these championships, but it bodes well for Moscow and the

:30:50. > :30:51.

:30:51. > :30:55.The first track event is the women's 400m. As I mentioned, the

:30:55. > :31:05.men's triple jump. It would have been rude of me whilst I was in

:31:05. > :31:12.

:31:12. > :31:22.Gothenburg not to catch up with my Good to see you. Are you well?

:31:22. > :31:27.

:31:27. > :31:30.We cold but good. I'm looking Nice picture. Welcome back to

:31:30. > :31:39.Gothenburg and the World Athletics Championships. Jonathan Edwards

:31:39. > :31:45.will shortly begin his campaign for It doesn't look any different, it

:31:45. > :31:52.hasn't even been repainted. I don't think they've changed a thing.

:31:52. > :31:58.was a long time ago. 18 years. Jonathan Edwards in the triple jump

:31:58. > :32:03.final. We could be on the verge of something special. You were selling

:32:03. > :32:07.programmes, weren't you? You us, I was up there. Very close. We were

:32:07. > :32:11.able to move freely around the arena. They said pretty much to us

:32:11. > :32:16.that nobody sitting in the seat, you can sit down but if they come,

:32:16. > :32:20.just move. And they didn't come, so we were very lucky watching the

:32:21. > :32:25.triple jump. They were boosting the triple jumper. They were saying it

:32:25. > :32:29.was going to be something special. Jonathan Edwards with his first

:32:29. > :32:39.round jump, live in the triple jump. A did you think I was going to

:32:39. > :32:44.

:32:44. > :32:54.break the world record? I think we breaking the world record was the

:32:54. > :32:55.

:32:55. > :33:01.first round. 18... 18.18. I thought you'd know it. 18.16. Not that I've

:33:01. > :33:07.watched it a million times or anything! In that first round, all

:33:07. > :33:17.I wanted to do was just get a half decent jumping, calm my nerves. I

:33:17. > :33:26.

:33:26. > :33:30.It's a world record for Great was that you could go out again and

:33:30. > :33:40.do another job. The crowd anticipating something special once

:33:40. > :33:46.

:33:46. > :33:50.done it again. I don't believe it! Many people break world records but

:33:50. > :33:57.very few do it twice in the same competition. I thought that was

:33:57. > :34:03.pretty much one of the biggest achievements in sport. I don't

:34:03. > :34:08.know... But there's one bit, just at the top of the runway, I smiled

:34:08. > :34:18.to myself on that point my finger. It was a good first jump but I felt

:34:18. > :34:24.like I could do better. It is exactly 60 ft and one quarter of an

:34:24. > :34:33.inch. Jonathan Edwards has made history again. There was never a

:34:33. > :34:37.delight it again. -- there was never a year like it again. He's

:34:37. > :34:42.just jumped the greatest jump in athletics history and has said his

:34:42. > :34:49.second world record in less than 20 minutes. Is this still the same

:34:49. > :34:57.pit? And I'm not sure. We had won for qualification and one for final.

:34:57. > :35:01.We also had that in the European Championships. No jumping today! I

:35:01. > :35:07.love the fact that you were sat there watching the triple jump.

:35:07. > :35:13.Then we became best of rivals. much longer can the great men keep

:35:13. > :35:20.going? Gold and silver in Edmonton in 2001, but 2002 was like the

:35:20. > :35:24.Battle of equals. Yes, at that time I had time to train with you and

:35:25. > :35:28.focus on the wall of the time. I came up to a high level sooner. It

:35:28. > :35:35.was the motivation to come and compete against you because you

:35:35. > :35:40.have such a high-level. I actually hated you a little bit! I came to

:35:40. > :35:45.Paris and they jumped 17.60. I thought, OK, that will give you

:35:45. > :35:52.something to think about. It was like you just put the clutch down,

:35:52. > :36:02.gear up, 17.76. I remember you, OK, I'm going to go and write

:36:02. > :36:02.

:36:02. > :36:09.autographs now. I don't remember it quite like that. When you finish to

:36:09. > :36:14.said, enough is enough, at 2003 in the world championships. I think

:36:14. > :36:18.our rivalry skyrocketed my career to a higher level much, much faster.

:36:18. > :36:23.If you haven't had been there, it might have been a while before I

:36:23. > :36:29.started to win. When you retire you left a ball we'd. Don't get me

:36:30. > :36:37.wrong, I enjoyed winning the Olympics and world championships,

:36:37. > :36:41.but I missed the competitiveness of being close to someone all the time.

:36:41. > :36:49.It was the best time in my career, even though I won a lot of things

:36:49. > :36:59.afterwards. We need to get inside because it's a lot colder than it

:36:59. > :37:02.

:37:02. > :37:07.Forgive the self-indulgence. That was fantastic. I was 29 when I

:37:07. > :37:10.broke the world record, not 12. Interestingly enough, we do have

:37:10. > :37:16.the three British track and field world record holders with us. Paula

:37:16. > :37:20.Radcliffe but the marathon, you with your hurdles... You didn't run

:37:20. > :37:26.in 95, did you? I was slightly annoyed with the circumstances that

:37:26. > :37:31.were put in front of me so I missed the 1995 World Championships. But I

:37:31. > :37:35.was actually there in the stadium when you were jumping. It was

:37:35. > :37:38.magnificent to see. It was one of those really inspirational moments

:37:38. > :37:45.because there were lots of big stars in track and field still in

:37:45. > :37:49.that era. You were just coming in on the scene. It was wonderful, all

:37:49. > :37:55.the attention could go on a field eventer, a triple jumper. That, for

:37:55. > :38:00.me, was a magical moment. It's a weird thing watching it back. I

:38:00. > :38:06.don't know what you feel like when you watch your world record Batt

:38:06. > :38:10.it's strange. It is strange. I had goosebumps watching that. At the

:38:10. > :38:14.time, I don't know if you appreciate it. It almost takes a

:38:14. > :38:18.long time on to when you can look at it back like that, to be able to

:38:18. > :38:24.appreciate what someone like Christian and me so that day,

:38:24. > :38:27.because it was a huge inspiration to him. He was such an idle, and

:38:27. > :38:32.then to be able to progress and have a rivalry with you was a big

:38:32. > :38:35.thing for him. That is what makes athletics magical. It's the head-

:38:35. > :38:40.to-heads as much as going for your personal best. Absolutely, because

:38:41. > :38:44.you are drawing inspiration from all sorts of places. Those rivals

:38:44. > :38:47.that you want to beat that also inspire you at the same time to

:38:47. > :38:52.look at your training, to look at what you were doing to get the best

:38:52. > :39:02.out of your performances. You need them. Enough of the past, on with

:39:02. > :39:31.

:39:31. > :39:41.the present. Shara Proctor in the indoors three times. 6.62 her best

:39:41. > :40:12.

:40:12. > :40:16.Solid start. She qualified with won the championships last season.

:40:16. > :40:19.Thought she was going to do some real damage in the Olympic final.

:40:19. > :40:24.She did make the final budget only finished in eighth place for Stam

:40:24. > :40:34.nevertheless, still a very fine performance indeed. 6.60 yesterday

:40:34. > :40:47.

:40:47. > :40:51.quite recently with 6.81. That looks close. A little bit wild

:40:51. > :41:01.through the air. If she can tidy that of, she would surely gain

:41:01. > :41:11.

:41:11. > :41:20.French national record in the first the world's best, and one of the

:41:20. > :41:25.favourites for this title. That is massive! Way over Lesueur's mark.

:41:25. > :41:31.She could even have beaten the seven metre barrier. The longest

:41:31. > :41:37.jump in the world this year is seven metres exactly by Kucherenko.

:41:37. > :41:42.What a start for this elegant Russian. She won the title two

:41:42. > :41:50.years ago. 7.01. The best jump in the world in 2013. She takes the

:41:50. > :41:56.lead. Shara Proctor has just seen Klishina go out to seven metres

:41:56. > :42:00.plus. Can she respond? It's not bad, she's in the top three, that's for

:42:00. > :42:10.sure. But first and second place at the moment are miles away from

:42:10. > :42:26.

:42:27. > :42:30.here? 6168. She is in third place That was an explosive start. We

:42:30. > :42:34.mentioned that in qualification they didn't look too good. A

:42:34. > :42:40.different story to date. It took my breath away, a new French national

:42:40. > :42:45.record, that was massive, really setting a target. And the Russian,

:42:45. > :42:50.she just pulls it out of the bag with 7.01. A world-leading mark.

:42:50. > :42:53.Unbelievable. It's very difficult for someone like Shara Cox to come

:42:53. > :42:56.in and follow that as a performance. Sometimes you can get carried away.

:42:56. > :43:01.She watched them yesterday in qualification and jumped further

:43:01. > :43:05.than most of them. In her mind she is thinking, OK, I can get myself

:43:05. > :43:09.out there. She needs to rain herself back in, take a deep breath

:43:09. > :43:19.and then really focus and deliver. At 6.68 is still a great

:43:19. > :43:27.

:43:27. > :43:31.the second round? 6.68m in the first round. Looking good for Great

:43:31. > :43:41.Britain at the moment. Accelerates into the board. Maybe just a little

:43:41. > :43:42.

:43:42. > :43:47.bit short. The guys have been saying, Denise, it is an explosive

:43:47. > :43:55.start to this final and Shara Proctor is in there, isn't she?

:43:55. > :44:05.is. She has to keep her run-up consistent. Her first jump, she was

:44:05. > :44:10.a bit tight having to respond to Klishina. She can do it. Shara

:44:10. > :44:20.Proctor nipping over to have a quick word with the team coach

:44:20. > :44:23.

:44:23. > :44:30.there. Proctor's second round jump is 6.64m. The men's high jump is

:44:30. > :44:40.another of our highlights here today. It features Robbie Grabarz.

:44:40. > :44:51.

:44:51. > :44:58.He is going to be jumping first. There is Robbie. Looked superb at

:44:58. > :45:08.2.23m in qualification. He only just made the final. Glad to see

:45:08. > :45:37.

:45:37. > :45:47.Russian. Twice an indoor champion. Sergey Mudrov. Mastoras of Greece.

:45:47. > :45:52.

:45:52. > :46:02.Very useful performer. 2.26m this season his best. There is Aleksei

:46:02. > :46:02.

:46:02. > :46:09.Dmitrik, he's beaten Robbie Grabarz twice this year. Tamberi is quite

:46:09. > :46:12.an explosive character. This guy will be the danger to everybody,

:46:12. > :46:22.Mickael Hanany of France. Only just made it through qualification

:46:22. > :46:25.

:46:26. > :46:34.yesterday. I it will -- I tell you what, the action comes thick and

:46:34. > :46:44.fast here this afternoon. Everybody in this final has got a chance to

:46:44. > :46:55.

:46:55. > :46:59.medal, that's for sure. Holly Bleasdale's first attempt in

:46:59. > :47:03.this pole vault competition. A moderate opening height. After the

:47:03. > :47:13.way she qualified, Colin, it was important that she got her first

:47:13. > :47:18.height in and got a bit of confidence? Looking at Holly here -

:47:18. > :47:23.I think she is using a harder pole from the off. She's getting used to

:47:23. > :47:30.that timing of the tougher pole to propel her to those higher heights

:47:30. > :47:40.later on. For me, it is a good start, a solid start, it is 4.37m

:47:40. > :47:44.the opening height. Certainly a lot going on in the infield. Big medal

:47:44. > :47:48.hopes in the long jump, pole vault and the men's high jump. For Holly,

:47:48. > :47:53.a lot of pressure on her. She's come in here as the European lead

:47:53. > :47:58.and there is an expectation that she will win? Yeah. There is an

:47:58. > :48:08.expectation that she has the capabilities of winning. I like the

:48:08. > :48:09.

:48:09. > :48:13.fact she is talking about winning this. It is the right attitude. Why

:48:13. > :48:18.not? When you have jumped well and big, why not be proud and believe

:48:18. > :48:22.that you can achieve these great things? It is a different mindset

:48:22. > :48:29.that you need. She will come to competitions in the past and she

:48:29. > :48:35.will look at other athletes and she will think, "I'm not the number

:48:35. > :48:39.one." She will look around her and think, "Nobody can beat me."

:48:39. > :48:42.Absolutely. For her, to settle herself into it and just do these

:48:42. > :48:46.heights. Forget it is a Championships and jump high. That

:48:46. > :48:52.will take the victory for her today. She doesn't know it because she

:48:52. > :48:59.hasn't done it. She knows she is capable of. Until she delivers

:48:59. > :49:02.those higher heights in performance, she... She hasn't had the real

:49:02. > :49:07.opportunity beforehand. At the Olympics, there was a lot of fuss

:49:07. > :49:11.going on. I have never heard her say previously that she is going to

:49:11. > :49:15.win a medal. Here she is saying, "I am good enough to win. I can jump

:49:16. > :49:19.high. I'm going to do it." Yesterday was a bit shaky. We all

:49:19. > :49:25.felt - we were anxious about the beginning. Let's see. She comes in,

:49:25. > :49:29.she does that 4.56m, so let's see. A good chance for Holly Bleasdale

:49:29. > :49:34.in the pole vault. It was a good start. We will hope for similar

:49:34. > :49:41.from Robbie Grabarz. He will hope to follow in the footsteps of one

:49:41. > :49:46.Dalton Grant. COMMENTARY: Dalton Grant, 2.37m, this jump for the

:49:46. > :49:49.gold medal. He's got it! What a superb jump by Dalton Grant.

:49:49. > :49:53.Sometimes considered to be the nearly man of high jumping. He's

:49:53. > :50:02.been in fourth place in many Major Championships before, twice in the

:50:02. > :50:06.World Indoors, the Europeans and the World Outdoor Championships.

:50:06. > :50:16.This jump could have won gold for Great Britain once again on this

:50:16. > :50:21.final day of the European Indoor Championships. 2.37m, Dalton Grant.

:50:21. > :50:24.That was a bit special? Again, with Dalton, we always used to have our

:50:24. > :50:29.heart in our mouth. You never knew what he would do. These high

:50:29. > :50:39.jumpers are like that. They love the pressure. This is what we hope

:50:39. > :50:51.

:50:51. > :50:55.Robbie will respond to today. of his big rivals is Dmitrik of

:50:55. > :51:01.Russia. He has beaten Robbie on two occasions this season. We all know

:51:01. > :51:06.what is happening in Russia. There is a strong high jump tradition.

:51:06. > :51:15.They have the Olympic Champion, the World Champion. Robbie is coming in

:51:15. > :51:23.live. Deep breath from everybody, including us here in the studio!

:51:23. > :51:29.There goes Robbie and that is looking good. Relatively modest

:51:29. > :51:33.height. A nice opener for Robbie in this final. European Outdoor

:51:33. > :51:40.Champion last year. Jointly with two other people, he won the

:51:40. > :51:50.Olympic bronze medal in the Olympic final. 2.19m, that is his start.

:51:50. > :51:53.

:51:53. > :51:58.Looked very comfortable. Baniotis next. The European Indoor

:51:58. > :52:06.Championships - he was fourth in 2011. A very tall athlete. Just

:52:06. > :52:13.gave it a bit of a rattle. I think we have already seen Dmitrik and he

:52:13. > :52:20.will be everybody's main rival. He has been so, so good this year.

:52:20. > :52:30.Shara Proctor once again in the long jump. And that looked close to

:52:30. > :52:37.being a foul for Shara. Indeed, it is. So Proctor, 6.68m in the first

:52:37. > :52:42.round, 6.54m she followed it up with and that was her first foul of

:52:42. > :52:50.the competition. Reaching the half- way stage of that final. Shara is

:52:50. > :53:00.still in third place. She really competed well last year.

:53:00. > :53:05.

:53:05. > :53:11.Set five British records in 2012. That is no mean feat, I promise you.

:53:11. > :53:21.Kucherenko is up next. Until a few moments ago, she was the only

:53:21. > :53:30.

:53:30. > :53:34.athlete in this field to jump 7.00m major indoor Championship. Can

:53:34. > :53:44.Kucherenko respond? She is lying in fifth place at the moment. Her best

:53:44. > :53:47.jump is 6.59m, that came in the last round. She's made big

:53:47. > :53:56.improvements as well over the last couple of years. Won a silver medal

:53:56. > :54:00.in the World Championships in 2011. Only finished fourth last season in

:54:00. > :54:06.the Russian Championships. That meant she missed the Olympics.

:54:06. > :54:14.Powerful runner. Good take-off. Really chasing those top three

:54:14. > :54:18.places. So remember, Shara Proctor in third place, her best jump 6.68m.

:54:18. > :54:28.Anything going past that means Shara Proctor moves back into

:54:28. > :54:33.

:54:33. > :54:38.fourth place. There's still three rounds to go, of course. Could

:54:38. > :54:41.Kucherenko - 6.62m. She is in fourth place. Proctor is ahead of

:54:41. > :54:48.her in a medal position, at the moment.

:54:48. > :54:54.Good news from the long jump. To get a silver or a gold is going to

:54:54. > :54:58.take a massive jump? 6.85m. Denise you know those distances. When

:54:58. > :55:03.someone puts those distances in front of you, how difficult is it

:55:03. > :55:08.to respond? It is tough. You are thinking, "What do I have to do to

:55:08. > :55:11.respond to that?" She will - her head was a bit scrambled for that

:55:11. > :55:16.first attempt. She has to relax. She has great speed. She needs to

:55:16. > :55:21.move her run-up back. She was half a foot over on the second attempt,

:55:22. > :55:27.the third attempt, sorry. There's still three jumps to go. She had a

:55:27. > :55:29.great World Indoors, she broke the national record outdoors as well.

:55:29. > :55:35.Then disappointing in the Olympic Games. It has been a rebuilding

:55:35. > :55:41.process for her? It has. What she has to do is get back into the gym,

:55:41. > :55:45.think about how she does respond off the board. The distances can be

:55:45. > :55:49.won or lost in a short space, in six metres into the board. That is

:55:49. > :55:53.the crucial point of the long jump. She needs to work on that if she is

:55:54. > :55:58.going to increase by another 20 centimetres, that is all we are

:55:58. > :56:08.talking about. Yes. We will keep across those field events. We will

:56:08. > :56:20.

:56:20. > :56:28.delve back into the archive once first bend. Sally Gunnell has gone

:56:28. > :56:33.off well. Pretty determined, Sally Gunnell. The Essex girl. Angela

:56:33. > :56:38.Pickford learning all the time. Look at this by Sally Gunnell.

:56:38. > :56:42.Pickford has gone for it. Very fast at 24.12. That is a tremendous

:56:42. > :56:47.piece of running by Sally Gunnell. Some of the world's greats behind

:56:47. > :56:55.her have to do an awful lot to pick her off. Sally Gunnell romping away

:56:55. > :56:59.here, the Essex girl having a tremendous run. Pickford is still

:56:59. > :57:03.in the hunt and Sally Gunnell is coming through for a brilliant

:57:03. > :57:08.victory. A big smile on her face. Sally Gunnell just took the race by

:57:08. > :57:12.the scruff of the neck and dominated it from start to finish!

:57:12. > :57:20.There's four or five metres between them. Is this going to be Britain's

:57:20. > :57:25.first gold medal on the track at these European Championships? She's

:57:25. > :57:31.going further clear. This is the run of her life for Nicola Sanders

:57:31. > :57:36.of Great Britain. She's winning unchallenged up towards the line,

:57:36. > :57:44.it is gold for Nicola Sanders of Great Britain in an outstanding

:57:44. > :57:54.time - 50.03. It's good enough for gold in the 400m.

:57:54. > :57:55.

:57:55. > :58:05.Out on track now, Shana Cox and Eilidh Child going in the first

:58:05. > :58:05.

:58:05. > :58:09.semifinals. She gets the worst lane, number one, Denise? It is not easy.

:58:09. > :58:12.She will be feeling pretty good. As you saw, watching those old

:58:12. > :58:16.pictures of Sally Gunnell, the tactics don't change. It is about

:58:16. > :58:26.getting out in front. I am sure these are nervous moments for her.

:58:26. > :58:43.

:58:43. > :58:48.I wonder if Sally is watching at indoors. 50.02. If anyone comes

:58:48. > :58:53.near that this weekend, you can guarantee them the gold medal. It

:58:53. > :58:58.was a phenomenal moment in Nicola's life, she was untouchable indoors.

:58:58. > :59:02.Sometimes athletes, you never believe those real, euphoric

:59:02. > :59:05.moments happening where everything goes beautifully. Her career from

:59:05. > :59:09.thereon in got the gold with injury. It must have been so hard for her

:59:09. > :59:13.to see those pictures now and think, man, if I could just get myself in

:59:13. > :59:17.that kind of shape where I could train and train and train and

:59:17. > :59:27.produce performances like that again. Now let's go to Paul

:59:27. > :59:50.

:59:50. > :59:54.He won in Birmingham. He beat Robbie Grabarz on both occasions.

:59:54. > :00:04.He has consistently been one of the best jumpers in the world during

:00:04. > :00:11.

:00:11. > :00:15.this first semi-final for the women's 400m. Shana Cox in lane one,

:00:15. > :00:20.Eilidh Child out in lane five. She's got one of the fastest times

:00:20. > :00:24.in Europe this year. We are looking to her to dominate this race.

:00:24. > :00:29.she was really good in her heats. She's worked hard this winter. She

:00:29. > :00:33.knows what he has to do. She has been running very confidently,

:00:33. > :00:39.having had that run under her belt, having controlled the race. It's

:00:39. > :00:43.all about recovery now, how she has recovered. Tactically, speaking to

:00:43. > :00:48.her coach, Malcolm Arnold, to make sure that she doesn't disappoint

:00:48. > :00:55.herself, because you know she's in good shape. One interesting is how

:00:55. > :01:01.well the 400m hurdlers are doing on the Flat. Hejnova got a bronze in

:01:01. > :01:06.London. We were watching Sally Gunnell take her victory, third

:01:06. > :01:11.behind that was the Swiss competitor, also a 400m hurdler.

:01:11. > :01:16.Lots of hurdlers run this event. I have a quick chat with Malcolm

:01:16. > :01:19.Arnold before, about Eilidh Child and her reasons for running. He

:01:19. > :01:23.said he wanted to make her a bit tougher over the hurdles for the

:01:23. > :01:26.summer, and he felt one in 400m indoors, where it's a bit

:01:26. > :01:30.aggressive, would make her think a bit more positively about attacking

:01:30. > :01:40.those barriers. So far it's been magnificent, because now she has a

:01:40. > :01:42.

:01:42. > :01:47.real chance and a shot at a medal reason she's got lane one is

:01:47. > :01:51.because she wasn't quite at the front of the field. No, and she

:01:51. > :01:56.conceded when she approached that 200m mark, most of the girls who

:01:56. > :01:59.have won have attacked and been determined. She needs to pick up a

:01:59. > :02:09.little bit of speed, but she qualified. She just has to run her

:02:09. > :02:15.

:02:15. > :02:25.now. -- Holly Bleasdale. Two successes for Holly Bleasdale.

:02:25. > :02:38.

:02:38. > :02:41.warm-up, she's continued that good Bleasdale and what we hope will be

:02:41. > :02:51.a good afternoon for Great Britain. We are looking to continue that on

:02:51. > :03:09.

:03:09. > :03:15.because, well, you want to try and win your heat, but she's in one.

:03:15. > :03:23.That will be tough. Duffer of the Netherlands outside her. Hjelmer

:03:23. > :03:33.could be someone you need to watch. She was behind Sherry -- Perri

:03:33. > :03:39.

:03:39. > :03:46.championships. Didn't look so good to me, not for the number one

:03:46. > :03:55.ranked athletes. Eilidh Child, by contrast, qualified comfortably.

:03:55. > :03:59.Maybe a bit of a surprise, Morosanu, another hurdler. There's the

:03:59. > :04:03.European number one coming into these championships. Cox with a

:04:03. > :04:13.really tough lane draw. But Eilidh Child hoping to get a nice, clean

:04:13. > :04:36.

:04:36. > :04:45.run through here. Top-three into so quickly out of the blocks.

:04:45. > :04:51.Ustalova has gone quickly into this first 100m. Delmas has really

:04:51. > :04:56.attacked this first 200m. Look at Joe Hulm arising to the occasion.

:04:56. > :05:01.Morosanu cuts across Ustalova, trips her up. That was the Romanian

:05:01. > :05:06.athlete's fault. The number one athlete is out. Eilidh Child has to

:05:06. > :05:13.concentrate. Delmas starting to fade. Morosanu attacking. Eilidh

:05:13. > :05:19.Child getting close up. Look at Morosanu, all over the place. Child

:05:19. > :05:25.coming around the outside. Hjelmer, Morosanu and Child. Look at

:05:25. > :05:30.Morosanu. If she doesn't get disqualified I will be surprised.

:05:30. > :05:40.Cox was Forth. Jammu really did attack it well, she wasn't to blame

:05:40. > :05:41.

:05:41. > :05:45.at all. When you see Morosanu, she dives across the back of Ustalova.

:05:45. > :05:50.Ustalova is the number-one ranked athlete. The Russians will protest

:05:50. > :05:53.but, unfortunately, we tend to talk about the athletes getting up and

:05:53. > :05:57.computing, which as far as I can see Ustalova didn't do, but when

:05:57. > :06:01.you hit the track that hard you can't blame her. So they can't

:06:01. > :06:11.really push Ustalova through. They certainly can disqualify Morosanu,

:06:11. > :06:15.

:06:15. > :06:21.which would be good news for Shana front of you like that, Eilidh

:06:21. > :06:31.Child could have come a cropper there as well. That is just diving

:06:31. > :06:37.

:06:37. > :06:42.across unnecessarily. But Eilidh on, I guess. Here is Shara Proctor

:06:42. > :06:51.now in the fourth round. Still in the medal position, still in third

:06:51. > :06:56.place. And could be a little better. The man with the flag waiting

:06:56. > :07:06.patiently until Shara left the pit. She's certainly got the height.

:07:06. > :07:08.

:07:08. > :07:18.Maybe she slowed into the take-off indoor championships last year.

:07:18. > :07:21.

:07:21. > :07:27.6.69, a slight improvement. But she now for Robbie. This height

:07:27. > :07:31.yesterday in qualification increased his speed all the way

:07:31. > :07:35.into the take-off and then soared over the bar. And he's done it

:07:35. > :07:45.again. I must admit he's not looking as smooth as he was

:07:45. > :07:50.

:07:50. > :08:00.like for him when it goes up to the next height, which will be 2.25

:08:00. > :08:06.

:08:06. > :08:12.then 2.27 and then to 0.29. So far the moment. Morosanu women --

:08:12. > :08:16.winning. Shana Cox with a season's best. I'll be really surprised if

:08:16. > :08:20.there isn't some sort of complaint lodged by the Russians. I don't

:08:20. > :08:28.think Ustalova can be advanced into the final, but they will certainly

:08:28. > :08:31.be looking for a disqualification Steve Cram was talking up have been

:08:31. > :08:34.resold and saying he would be very surprised if the Russians don't

:08:34. > :08:38.complain about that. As they have we didn't finish, they can't have

:08:38. > :08:42.advantage to the final. Morosanu seems to be causing a great deal of

:08:42. > :08:48.problems. The 400 indoor is a really different race out there,

:08:48. > :08:53.there's a lot going on. It's a very physical grace. I'm not surprised,

:08:53. > :08:56.but it just comes with it. Season's best for you and you could yet may

:08:56. > :09:02.the final, you've got to see what happens now with the shenanigans

:09:02. > :09:06.that are going on. What about your own performance? It was a season's

:09:06. > :09:12.best, so I've got to be happy with it. It's getting better as time

:09:12. > :09:17.goes on. We can see the incident right here. You can see how

:09:17. > :09:24.Morosanu cut across the Russian. The key for you is to keep out of

:09:24. > :09:28.trouble. I just thought I wanted to get to the break point, I just

:09:28. > :09:34.thought, stay back, stay out of trouble, run wide, but obviously

:09:34. > :09:38.that happened. I thought that this point, stay wide and I will get

:09:38. > :09:41.them towards the end. But she went down and I had to move out of her

:09:41. > :09:45.weight and I lost my momentum. I had to fight back the whole way. It

:09:45. > :09:50.would have been nice to have won it. I know I'm stronger after doing

:09:50. > :09:55.that so I hope I can get in the final. You did well, you kept calm,

:09:55. > :09:58.that is the key in that situation. Very much. They're so much going on

:09:59. > :10:08.that you just have to react and go. That's what we all kind of tried to

:10:09. > :10:15.

:10:15. > :10:20.do. All very best. Hope you make it Ustalova is out. No doubt about the

:10:20. > :10:24.good prospects of Perri Shakes- Drayton, but no doubt either be

:10:24. > :10:32.progression to the final is far from a foregone conclusion because

:10:32. > :10:35.a woman like this, Hejnova... You might expect it to be the women in

:10:35. > :10:45.four and five who are through to the final, Perri Shakes-Drayton was

:10:45. > :10:58.

:10:58. > :11:08.in five. Perri Shakes-Drayton is in sixth. They might be the favourite

:11:08. > :11:34.

:11:34. > :11:38.blistering pace in the heats and has done so again. She looks to

:11:38. > :11:42.lead at the break and stay out of trouble, especially with what we've

:11:42. > :11:46.seen in the first heat. Perri Shakes-Drayton is out in front.

:11:46. > :11:52.Behind her, it might be tight as they come across. Hejnova nipping

:11:52. > :12:02.through into second place, followed by Gayot of France. But Shakes-

:12:02. > :12:08.

:12:08. > :12:18.by Rosolova. Shakes-Drayton doing very well indeed. Coming through

:12:18. > :12:22.

:12:22. > :12:26.and holding on strong. She takes it. 51.03. A very good win for the

:12:26. > :12:36.British athlete. No trouble in that heat. It was a much simpler affair.

:12:36. > :12:59.

:13:00. > :13:03.Hejnova coming through to take of her yet. Totally in control from

:13:03. > :13:09.lane six. Nice and balanced, doesn't lose anything. Look how

:13:09. > :13:13.she's running, there's no stress. Very relaxed. Yes, it's tiring now

:13:13. > :13:17.and the lactic acid is building, but look how she holds her form

:13:17. > :13:20.really well. Perri Shakes-Drayton is in the shape of her life.

:13:20. > :13:25.Whether Ustalova is in this or not, it doesn't matter. I think this is

:13:25. > :13:35.the big gold medal prospect. That was almost three-tenths of a second

:13:35. > :13:52.

:13:52. > :13:58.For Steve Cram said it in commentary, a fantastic performance

:13:58. > :14:06.by you. You're getting better with every season.

:14:06. > :14:16.But is the aim for us, when it comes to championships. I just need

:14:16. > :14:22.to rest now, and be up bright and early tomorrow morning. I feel good.

:14:22. > :14:30.You had an eye what was going on in the first race. And how keep it is

:14:30. > :14:38.to stay out of danger. I didn't want to get up -- get caught up in

:14:38. > :14:44.any trouble. Just run my own race and stay away from trouble. Eilidh

:14:44. > :14:54.Child has made it through to the final, Shana Cox maybe there. At

:14:54. > :14:56.

:14:56. > :15:04.least two you going for him medal. If it is good, considering the all

:15:04. > :15:12.the excitement! We saw Sally Gunnell do it recently. You may

:15:12. > :15:19.emulate her. I will try to do my best, I want to achieve as many

:15:19. > :15:29.titles as I can, I will keep on trying. Can I say happy birthday to

:15:29. > :15:38.

:15:38. > :15:46.round. Adding one centimetre to her record distance. Still in second

:15:46. > :15:52.place. That is pretty much the same sort of distance which she jumped

:15:52. > :15:59.last time. We have seen a world leading jump, a new national record

:15:59. > :16:06.from this athlete. Shara Proctor added to her best jump in the

:16:06. > :16:11.competition. She is still in third place. No doubt about the

:16:11. > :16:18.credentials of the European outdoor champion last season. The French

:16:18. > :16:28.champion. She really is a fine athlete. It is an improvement again,

:16:28. > :16:37.

:16:38. > :16:43.it would be exciting if she could produce something special here.

:16:43. > :16:53.National indoor record holder at 6.89. She gave it everything. It

:16:53. > :17:01.

:17:01. > :17:11.all, doesn't it? A cracking take- off in terms of position on the

:17:11. > :17:18.

:17:18. > :17:28.board. Good speed on the runway, as coaches. Good consistency. She is

:17:28. > :17:45.

:17:45. > :17:51.Totally commanding. You can only do this level of running if you are

:17:51. > :17:55.fit, healthy and strong. She is displaying all of those qualities.

:17:55. > :17:59.It is wonderful when an athlete can come to these championships in the

:17:59. > :18:05.shape of their life, because it breeds confidence, she knows what

:18:05. > :18:15.to expect from her body, there are no questions. Been a question is

:18:15. > :18:17.

:18:17. > :18:22.can she turn it into a gold medal. The final is to tomorrow morning.

:18:22. > :18:32.We are used to finals been in the afternoon.

:18:32. > :18:38.Paula Radcliffe is up in commentary. How do fancy Joe Thomas's chances

:18:38. > :18:44.in this? He is in a tough heat. Against at

:18:44. > :18:53.standing favourite. He needs to control the race. He is good in a

:18:53. > :19:02.slow race. If someone takes it up fast, it will be tough for him. The

:19:02. > :19:12.second heat is slightly easier. Muktar Mohammed had to race

:19:12. > :19:22.relatively faster yesterday. Joe Thomas had based lower heat. -- had

:19:22. > :19:22.

:19:22. > :19:29.Joe Thomas looked very good yesterday, he is from the same club

:19:29. > :19:35.as you, Cardiff. He was strong, he ran a competent

:19:35. > :19:45.race yesterday. He controlled it, he ran the race the way he wanted

:19:45. > :19:50.

:19:50. > :19:54.Grabarz, he decided to pass on to 0.25 metres. This is 2.27 metres.

:19:54. > :19:59.This would be a real advance on what we have seen from here in

:19:59. > :20:07.Gothenburg. Oh, my goodness, a thought it was going to stay on.

:20:07. > :20:12.That was much, much better. He didn't look as if he was going to

:20:12. > :20:22.get anywhere close to this sort of height yesterday. It was bouncing

:20:22. > :20:29.

:20:29. > :20:37.around all over the place. The vault final now. All three of them

:20:37. > :20:47.have cleared 4.62. Nowhere near it. So, she, in fact, will have to go

:20:47. > :20:50.

:20:50. > :20:57.again straight away. They were all first-time clearances by a Sudarava.

:20:57. > :21:01.Anna Rogowska, and the Czech Republic athlete. Disappointment

:21:01. > :21:11.for Holly Bleasdale. She will have to go higher, preferably at the

:21:11. > :21:24.

:21:24. > :21:34.first attempt, if she wants to be success, but this men's 800 metres

:21:34. > :21:42.

:21:42. > :21:48.semi-finals. Joe Thomas has the defending champion, and Lopez.

:21:48. > :21:55.Paula Radcliffe was bright, Joe Thomas, when it is slow, can beat

:21:55. > :22:00.anybody, he has so much pace in the last 200 metres. There are not too

:22:00. > :22:04.many front runners here. The tall Swede may well tried to leave it

:22:04. > :22:10.out again. This man is not that well known but he is the one who

:22:10. > :22:15.put paid to Michael Rimmer. A slow race, he had a lot of pace down the

:22:16. > :22:22.back straight, he went past Michael Rimmer like he was standing still.

:22:22. > :22:30.Watch out. Johan Rogestedt, world youth champion, 20 years of age, he

:22:30. > :22:35.has grown a lot, to be fair! A big lad. Not frightened to get out

:22:35. > :22:45.there in front. Ivan Nesterov, the Russian indoor champion this year,

:22:45. > :22:46.

:22:46. > :22:56.a new personal best of 1.47 0.6. That is where Joe Thomas might

:22:56. > :23:03.start to struggle a little. Lopez. Spanish indoor champion, as ever,

:23:03. > :23:09.anyone who wins a Spanish 10 bishops indoors is a danger. Adam

:23:09. > :23:15.Kszczot, defending European indoor champion. A new coach now. Very

:23:15. > :23:23.happy with the way things are going, he says he is really pleased,

:23:23. > :23:29.running new personal bests. He doesn't mind if it is fast or slow.

:23:29. > :23:32.He may well be part of their relay squad. So, Joe Thomas, if he could

:23:32. > :23:40.slowed things from the front, that would be a really good tactic but I

:23:40. > :23:50.have a feeling this week made want to do something rather different. -

:23:50. > :24:00.

:24:00. > :24:10.has started quickly. Joe Thomas finds himself at the back. Joe

:24:10. > :24:24.

:24:24. > :24:28.Paula Radcliffe's microphone. Joe Thomas is at the back. A good

:24:29. > :24:38.place if he has the legs to strut from, but he needs to get a bit

:24:39. > :25:06.

:25:06. > :25:11.place. Joe Thomas is still in touch and has an outside chance still. He

:25:11. > :25:18.needs to be strong down the back straight, give himself a couple of

:25:18. > :25:28.yards and attack. These three are good. Joe Thomas is in 4th place.

:25:28. > :25:33.

:25:33. > :25:37.Lopez still in front. Joe Thomas is as much as he could do. The first

:25:37. > :25:45.two we knew about. Anis Ananenka impressed me yesterday. This

:25:45. > :25:51.Belarus man has put paid to two British athletes. Lopez was smart,

:25:51. > :25:58.he controlled it really well, right from the gun. He went fast, slow,

:25:58. > :26:05.speeded it up again. Adam Kszczot was not stretched at all. The

:26:05. > :26:11.Belarus man, Anis Ananenka, the surprise package. Joe Thomas is

:26:11. > :26:21.good, in the latter stages, but not close enough to really strike and

:26:21. > :26:26.

:26:26. > :26:36.attack from the last bend, and he Mohammad will go in the next semi-

:26:36. > :26:42.

:26:42. > :26:46.final, let us hope he can get into of this long jump competition.

:26:46. > :26:56.Another French record for Eloyse Lesueur in the last round. She

:26:56. > :27:08.

:27:08. > :27:12.performance of her life here. European champion last year. She

:27:12. > :27:19.will have it in the back of her mind she is looking at a seven-

:27:19. > :27:23.metre jump now. That is what it would take to beat Darya Klishina

:27:23. > :27:33.who has held onto the lead. Her third French national record in

:27:33. > :27:47.

:27:47. > :27:55.this final. Still in second place, foul. We have just seen Jarder of

:27:55. > :28:05.Sweden go out. In the last round, she has lost that valuable third

:28:05. > :28:21.

:28:21. > :28:31.place, so no medals for Great You can't say you didn't give it

:28:31. > :28:37.

:28:37. > :28:41.I didn't get that clear track, there was never that opportunity to

:28:41. > :28:47.make my move up. I felt coming on the home straight I have an awful

:28:47. > :28:54.lot left but I just didn't time it right. If you were in contention,

:28:54. > :29:00.your place will bring you home every time. The s, -- yes, if the

:29:00. > :29:04.gap had opened up I would have continued on. I just got caught out

:29:05. > :29:09.about 250, 300. As I went to go someone had they pushed and pushed

:29:09. > :29:19.right in front of me. I didn't want to waste my energy and top back-in,

:29:19. > :29:23.

:29:23. > :29:33.but the opportunity never came trouble here. 2.27. Third and final

:29:33. > :29:45.

:29:45. > :29:52.Olympic bronze medallist will leave here without a medal on this

:29:52. > :30:02.occasion. It has all gone wrong. I must admit, he didn't look is

:30:02. > :30:09.

:30:09. > :30:17.British athletes over the last few minutes, but this man is still

:30:17. > :30:21.standing in the 800m. Mukhtar Mohamed in lane six. He was

:30:21. > :30:25.impressive in terms of the way he finished his heat, but he admitted

:30:25. > :30:29.he didn't run tactically well. He allowed himself to be dictated to

:30:29. > :30:34.by the tall Swede in his first- round heat. But he goes he innate

:30:34. > :30:39.good lane because he did qualify by winning his heat. Inside him Mark

:30:39. > :30:49.two Spaniards who might help each other out a little bit. There is

:30:49. > :31:23.

:31:23. > :31:28.Cooper's, the Dutch indoor champion the European indoors four years ago.

:31:28. > :31:32.And then Mo Junior, a similar route to Mo Farah. Came over from Somalia

:31:32. > :31:36.as a youngster. Few have the very special talent that Mo Farah has

:31:36. > :31:41.for running, but Mukhtar Mohamed is a very bright prospect indeed.

:31:41. > :31:51.He'll be looking to get his tactics right this time. The first three

:31:51. > :32:04.

:32:04. > :32:09.Marco. The two Spaniards coming through to take up the pace, but

:32:09. > :32:14.Mohamed gets in between them. Mark Lowe of Spain who takes the

:32:14. > :32:18.lead. We've got to be careful talking of people's medal chances,

:32:18. > :32:21.but Mukhtar Mohamed comes into this on a learning curve but with a lot

:32:21. > :32:25.to take away from here today. He made the mistake of not running his

:32:25. > :32:28.own race yesterday. Today, he's already attacked more confidently

:32:28. > :32:33.and seems to be sticking to the race plan he will have agreed with

:32:33. > :32:37.his coach. At the moment he is sandwiched in their between the two

:32:37. > :32:47.Spaniards. Now Kupers has come through to nip in there, as they go

:32:47. > :33:01.

:33:01. > :33:05.place at the moment. Decent pace, this. Now Mohamed decides he needs

:33:05. > :33:10.to take a bit closer order and be ready to cover any move and 2p of

:33:10. > :33:20.out of trouble. Just three to go through. Repcik beginning to make a

:33:20. > :33:36.

:33:36. > :33:42.going to be a close finish for three places. Mohamed in a very

:33:42. > :33:47.good position. Able to look around. He comes through to win well. 1.49.

:33:47. > :33:53.But he never looked troubled. He was always aware of where he was. A

:33:53. > :33:58.very good victory. He moves through comfortably. Beautifully controlled

:33:58. > :34:02.race by Mukhtar Mohamed there. He's looking around, just making sure.

:34:02. > :34:06.Repcik was on his shoulder coming into the final bend. Making sure

:34:06. > :34:11.that nobody was going to kick his heels from behind. I think he will

:34:11. > :34:21.have gained a lot of confidence from that. Bybyk sneaking in there

:34:21. > :34:37.

:34:37. > :34:44.not tightening up at all. A little bit too much looking around at that

:34:44. > :34:48.stage. Potential, potential. It might be realised here with, I'll

:34:48. > :34:58.whisper it quietly, a gold medal in the men's 800m. He does look very

:34:58. > :35:08.

:35:08. > :35:18.good at the moment. He is safely bar up now. Holly Bleasdale passed

:35:18. > :35:33.

:35:33. > :35:43.and she gets it. That has taken a bronze medallist way back in 2004.

:35:43. > :36:14.

:36:14. > :36:24.Could she have nailed on another Holly Bleasdale. That, surely, is a

:36:24. > :36:47.

:36:47. > :36:52.potential. He's answering a few questions before he gets to Phil

:36:52. > :36:58.Jones. Again, we saw in the heats that he wasn't quite as impressive

:36:58. > :37:01.in his tactics but there he got it spot on. I haven't spoken to him

:37:01. > :37:05.today so I don't know the plan from his coach coming into this, but he

:37:05. > :37:14.certainly ran with a lot more confidence. Indoors is a lot more

:37:15. > :37:24.What a tremendous performance. You learned so much from yesterday.

:37:25. > :37:26.

:37:26. > :37:31.Definitely. I got a lot of advice from yesterday from all of the

:37:31. > :37:36.staff. I learnt from what I did yesterday and today I felt so

:37:36. > :37:45.comfortable. One thing you also said yesterday, you came in to win

:37:45. > :37:49.a medal. Yes. I smell the medal now! Hopefully tomorrow I will get

:37:49. > :37:55.the gold, that's the target for me. Tell me about that performance

:37:55. > :38:01.today and how you felt out there. Well, I'm confident to get in the

:38:01. > :38:07.front. If I go in the back, like yesterday, I did a horrible race.

:38:07. > :38:11.Today, doing this plan, if I do the same tomorrow then it will be good.

:38:11. > :38:16.We can see your autograph hunters are growing enforced day by day.

:38:16. > :38:26.Yes, it feels great when the kids come up to you, trying to get a

:38:26. > :38:27.

:38:27. > :38:37.photograph. All the very best for at the top of the leaderboard in

:38:37. > :38:45.

:38:45. > :38:54.No. She's in equal first place because of the fact that at the

:38:54. > :38:59.last type, for 0.67, both athletes It's looking like a medal for Holly

:38:59. > :39:09.Bleasdale. But there was no medal for Shara Proctor. Right at the

:39:09. > :39:15.

:39:15. > :39:21.death, the medal was taken away so far, but then she produced this

:39:21. > :39:24.in the final round. This Swedish crowd have been waiting to be

:39:24. > :39:31.inspired and waiting for the medals to come. It came in the shape of

:39:31. > :39:34.this young lady. A great approach, her run-up was strong. She got her

:39:34. > :39:43.just rewards. The Shara had been sitting in that bronze-medal

:39:43. > :39:47.position from the first round. She was never completely safe with 6.69.

:39:47. > :39:53.Great reactions. We heard the screams from here. It was really

:39:53. > :39:57.exciting to see Jarder do so well. But very disappointing for our girl.

:39:57. > :40:02.What we should say is a Shara did have a chance to respond. She did.

:40:02. > :40:12.She did one really well. I'm not sure whether you are going to see

:40:12. > :40:23.

:40:23. > :40:27.it. She definitely attacked the run did brilliantly. This is her third

:40:27. > :40:32.round jump? Yes. She didn't run well but on that last jump, when

:40:32. > :40:42.she needed to give it everything, she did, but she just got fouled

:40:42. > :40:46.

:40:47. > :40:50.national records and Klishina with 7.01. That is a world leader. It

:40:50. > :40:56.just goes to prove what these championships are all about. People

:40:56. > :41:00.are trying to perform at the highest level. Klishina's jump of

:41:00. > :41:04.7.01 is a lifetime best for her. When she jumped back in the very

:41:04. > :41:07.first round, you can see she responded with a little jump and

:41:07. > :41:17.then tried to calm herself to say, OK, this is only round one, things

:41:17. > :41:24.can happen. 7.01 was enough. Disappointment in the high jump for

:41:24. > :41:29.Robbie Grabarz. He came here with very high hopes, jumped 2.31

:41:29. > :41:39.indoors. We fancied him to rise to the occasion but this was 2.27, a

:41:39. > :41:42.

:41:42. > :41:47.over with his mum, who said he was feeling good, he was optimistic. To

:41:47. > :41:51.me, he looked a little heavy lead. I don't know whether he's still

:41:51. > :41:56.been lifting really heavily coming into the competition, but it just

:41:56. > :42:06.wasn't right there. Disappointment for Robbie Grabarz. It's going much

:42:06. > :42:09.

:42:09. > :42:14.better in the pole vault for Holly is equal first place for those two

:42:14. > :42:18.athletes at the moment. If they both fail it, it's going to go to a

:42:18. > :42:24.jump off. The drama has not finished by any stretch of the

:42:24. > :42:34.imagination. Each of them as one more attempt. For 0.72 is the

:42:34. > :43:02.

:43:02. > :43:12.The athletes need to try to respond to this. Particularly the likes of

:43:12. > :43:22.Aitken's Aryeetey. -- Aikines- Aryeetey. Harry has probably got

:43:22. > :43:32.

:43:32. > :43:36.the most difficult of the two races bronze medal outdoors. Looking to

:43:36. > :43:39.do better than that indoors here. It's not his forte but he looked

:43:39. > :43:43.pretty good in qualification. This is the man has been a big surprise

:43:43. > :43:48.package of the indoor season in Europe. 6.51 he ran in the Italian

:43:48. > :43:55.championships. He looked good in qualification. A big improvement

:43:55. > :44:02.this year. Harry ran much better in qualification than I think he did

:44:02. > :44:06.in Birmingham. He's been hovering around the mid- 6.60. He's going to

:44:06. > :44:10.have to be a bit better than that. This man has been a bit of a

:44:10. > :44:20.surprise. He ran the Romanian Championships where he equalled the

:44:20. > :44:37.

:44:37. > :44:42.record. He looks sharp. Biron, not you have got to try to maintain

:44:42. > :44:52.through. This man has really improved. Not the best action you

:44:52. > :44:52.

:44:52. > :45:02.will see when he runs. Heat is a pocket Rocket, the Italian, Michael

:45:02. > :45:32.

:45:32. > :45:37.this event every championships a chance for 4th place. A blanket

:45:37. > :45:43.finish. That guy it is really impressive. He is winning his races.

:45:43. > :45:53.Not the best start from Michael Tumi. Harry just didn't get away,

:45:53. > :45:58.

:45:58. > :46:06.finish. Michael Tumi looking comfortable. Difficult to beat.

:46:06. > :46:16.Emmanuel Biron third. In fact, they are giving Harry third. He has a

:46:16. > :46:20.

:46:20. > :46:30.big chest. Putting it to good really fight. Those last five it

:46:30. > :46:48.

:46:48. > :46:58.the good news, it may be Catalin champion. The next few moments will

:46:58. > :47:00.

:47:00. > :47:04.tell us if Britain has its first time in a row. So, the only athlete

:47:04. > :47:12.left in action is Holly Bleasdale from Great Britain. This could be

:47:12. > :47:16.the greatest moment of her life. She has already won a bronze medal

:47:16. > :47:26.at the World Indoor Championships. England Under 23 champion as well.

:47:26. > :47:50.

:47:50. > :47:53.But, going for the senior champion Bleasdale. She won the World

:47:53. > :47:58.Championships bronze-medal indoors last year. 12 months on,

:47:58. > :48:05.competitively, added she is a much better athlete. She did jump high

:48:05. > :48:15.last year. This is all about Championship call medal

:48:15. > :48:17.

:48:17. > :48:23.performances. -- gold medal. Her best attempt so far. I can 10

:48:23. > :48:29.you, the battle goes on. We haven't decided who has gold and silver yet.

:48:29. > :48:39.The organisers have two separate them. Anna Rogowska against Holly

:48:39. > :48:49.

:48:49. > :48:59.Harry has been waiting patiently. You have done neurone bit to get

:48:59. > :49:00.

:49:00. > :49:07.yourself into medal contention. -- your own bit. The support I have

:49:07. > :49:13.got, staff, socially, it has helped a lot. I got left in the blocks a

:49:13. > :49:19.little bit. I came through very well. I am in the final. You came

:49:19. > :49:25.through amazingly well. We switched up in training. The idea it is to

:49:25. > :49:35.make the final. I wasn't right in the top 10. I am in the top eight

:49:35. > :49:36.

:49:36. > :49:42.decided. Both athletes at the previous successful height have

:49:42. > :49:47.exactly the same record. One failure, one success. So, they

:49:47. > :49:53.should at least be given another attempt at the height they have

:49:53. > :49:57.both failed at three times, for. Scented two. If that is successful

:49:57. > :50:02.from both points of view, the bar will be dropped down, until the

:50:02. > :50:10.first athlete to Click it successfully gets it. If the second

:50:10. > :50:20.athlete gets it as well, we carried on until we get a distinct winner.

:50:20. > :50:30.

:50:30. > :50:40.60m. Recur macro it is the star man. -- Vicaux. It promises to be a very

:50:40. > :51:03.

:51:03. > :51:13.season. Rose, the youngest in the line-up, 20 years old, Jamaican-

:51:13. > :51:13.

:51:13. > :52:11.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 58 seconds

:52:11. > :52:21.born. Running for Sweden. Simone hunted down by the French ban.

:52:21. > :52:21.

:52:21. > :52:28.James Sasaolu storming through to take it. A stunning run. From the

:52:28. > :52:34.British and -- athlete, he takes it impressively. He wasn't away too

:52:34. > :52:44.well but, my goodness, he picked up well, the Frenchman looked as if,

:52:44. > :52:46.

:52:46. > :52:56.perhaps, he was coasting a little bit. The speed was there. Lasley,

:52:56. > :53:14.

:53:14. > :53:24.all-time list, well done, James. Rose also coming through. I thought

:53:24. > :53:33.

:53:33. > :53:39.the French athlete was the best caption with the same height being
