:00:48. > :00:53.Welcome to the Birmingham Diamond League and the first live track and

:00:54. > :00:57.field of the year on the BBC. It is a glorious day here for athletes who

:00:58. > :01:03.know, with two months to go until the Rio Olympics, they have to get

:01:04. > :01:06.themselves into the groove. What a talent-crammed field we have. 61

:01:07. > :01:11.Championship medallists taking part, 25 of them gold. The stars are out

:01:12. > :01:15.in force, and they have always got time for the fans who come out to

:01:16. > :01:27.see them perform. We are now on the road to Rio.

:01:28. > :01:39.Christine Ohuruogu is the World Champion again!

:01:40. > :01:49.Adam Gemili, it is gold for Great Britain! David Rudisha is going to

:01:50. > :01:54.win the world title. Dina Asher-Smith keeping her foot on

:01:55. > :02:04.the pedal and racing away. Dafne Schippers, who is going to get the

:02:05. > :02:10.gold medal? Dafne Schippers! James is going to take Olympic gold. Mo

:02:11. > :02:30.Farah is sprinting for gold. The stars are certainly out in force

:02:31. > :02:35.here on BBC One. We will get a few more clues as to who is in form at

:02:36. > :02:40.this stage of the season, with the Olympics on the horizon. We want you

:02:41. > :02:44.to contact us as well. We will air the best comments at 4.30pm when we

:02:45. > :02:48.go on to the Red Button. You will have plenty to say about what we

:02:49. > :02:52.hope is going to be a fabulous afternoon of athletics. The weather

:02:53. > :02:57.is playing its part at the moment. It does feel like the first day of

:02:58. > :03:01.summer here in Birmingham. Denise Lewis, Paula Radcliffe and Steve

:03:02. > :03:06.Cram are along to enjoy what we hope will be the athletics that does the

:03:07. > :03:13.talking. I have to start with what has been athletics problem of the

:03:14. > :03:18.last few years, and many other sports. With decisions pending on

:03:19. > :03:21.Russia's inclusion into the Olympics in Rio, where do you think the sport

:03:22. > :03:27.is right now in its cleaning up process? Wow. That is a question

:03:28. > :03:31.which we are all trying to come to terms with. The Russia issue is one

:03:32. > :03:36.that will be dealt with on June 17th, so we will find out about

:03:37. > :03:41.that. There is a wider issue around the IOC and Russia, we have got our

:03:42. > :03:44.own kind of governance issues to be dealt with, Seb trying to work with

:03:45. > :03:49.that. The drugs problem, which is for everybody to deal with, Wada,

:03:50. > :03:54.it's been well publicised. The issue is, a lot of these people, including

:03:55. > :03:59.ourselves, who talk and write about the sport, I don't see any of those

:04:00. > :04:03.people at athletics meetings and the athletes are trying to get on with

:04:04. > :04:07.being athletes. The sport has to look at some of those aspects. The

:04:08. > :04:11.next two years are really important in how the sport sells itself

:04:12. > :04:15.outside of those issues, to go forward. We have the Olympics in

:04:16. > :04:22.Rio, World Championships in London, it is a massive two years. We have

:04:23. > :04:26.still got Bolt, Jess Ennis, and new people coming through. It is how we

:04:27. > :04:34.make the sport relevant going forward. I'm going to meetings and

:04:35. > :04:37.there are full stadia. There is a good crowd out here today. Yes.

:04:38. > :04:42.There are positive things. We do have to put those issues and get

:04:43. > :04:49.them sorted out. It is easy to be cynical and for people to see a

:04:50. > :04:59.headline, Usain Bolt will lose one of his Olympic golds because of his

:05:00. > :05:03.team-mate's ban, but you are there, like Steve, and the stories are

:05:04. > :05:08.positive? The athletes are focussing on the Olympic year. We have so many

:05:09. > :05:14.British athletes coming out, ticking off those qualifying times,

:05:15. > :05:20.performing well. It is easy for the headlines to take priority over

:05:21. > :05:23.everything. London 2012 was the dirtiest Games - it wasn't. We

:05:24. > :05:27.caught more than we did before. The athletes have faith that each year

:05:28. > :05:30.that we move forward they have got more chance of competing on a level

:05:31. > :05:34.playing field than they have done in the past. Of course performances is

:05:35. > :05:37.what we will focus on today. Greg Rutherford is someone who has

:05:38. > :05:41.already put in a good performance this year, equalling his jump from

:05:42. > :05:47.London that won him Olympic gold. We know, as we have seen, that this man

:05:48. > :05:56.can pull out the big jump when it counts? Greg prides himself on

:05:57. > :06:00.peaking at the right time, preparing himself for the big Championships.

:06:01. > :06:08.We saw him compete in Rome, where he's now on the runway and he jumped

:06:09. > :06:12.8.31m, beating one of his rivals in Marquise Goodwin from the USA who

:06:13. > :06:17.has jumped further than him this year. Greg seems to do what he does.

:06:18. > :06:22.He's got confidence. He's always quick on the runway. For him, this

:06:23. > :06:27.year, it really is about that fine tuning, spending much more time with

:06:28. > :06:31.his coach in America, looking at the best way he can hone that technique.

:06:32. > :06:35.A year ago, I can't believe it's a year ago, it was a terrible moment

:06:36. > :06:38.for Adam Gemili when he pulled up with that hamstring injury which has

:06:39. > :06:47.kept him out for a full season. He is back today. He missed out on the

:06:48. > :06:52.World Championships last year. It has all been very quiet, his

:06:53. > :06:57.rehabilitation. What kind of shape is he in? He's in reasonable shape.

:06:58. > :07:03.He wouldn't be here if he wasn't. He has a massive task on his hands. All

:07:04. > :07:12.of a sudden... In the 100m, the lads are there or thereabouts. Kilty ran

:07:13. > :07:19.a fast time, to get in the top three in the trials, particularly the

:07:20. > :07:24.200m, which is looking extra strong now, Adam will have to be at his

:07:25. > :07:30.best. Whoever makes the Olympic team this year, they will have to run

:07:31. > :07:34.under ten seconds and close to 20 in the 200m. He will be doing that we

:07:35. > :07:38.hope very soon. We will be out live on the track for that shortly. We

:07:39. > :07:49.have a packed afternoon's athletics for you.

:07:50. > :08:08.It's the Men's 100m in a few MPs. -- few minutes.

:08:09. > :08:19.Greg Rutherford hits the runway at 3.00pm. It's the Women's 5000m at

:08:20. > :08:32.3.15pm. David Rudisha goes in the Men's

:08:33. > :08:36.600m. Mo Farah runs his first race on the track in the UK this season.

:08:37. > :08:41.He will be hard to beat in the Men's 3000m.

:08:42. > :08:47.It's a good sight to see out there, isn't it? Adam Gemili ready to line

:08:48. > :08:52.up and compete in the UK over 100m for the first time in a year. It is

:08:53. > :08:56.a strong field. He won't have it all his own way as Colin and Andrew

:08:57. > :09:04.Cotter will tell you. Good afternoon.

:09:05. > :09:12.COMMENTARY: Good afternoon. Looking down on the Alexander Stadium, we

:09:13. > :09:20.are set fare for the Men's 100m. A couple of drop-outs, Richard Kilty

:09:21. > :09:27.ill. Trayvon Bromell has pulled out with a hamstring problem.

:09:28. > :09:41.Not too much wind today, so we might see some good legal times. The's

:09:42. > :09:46.Shaun McClean, he's replaced Richard Kilty. He hasn't quite broken the

:09:47. > :09:52.ten-second barrier yet. Aaron Brown from Canada. Slightly better over

:09:53. > :09:57.200m than 100m, finished second in Rome on Thursday over the longer

:09:58. > :10:03.sprint. Michael Rodgers has gone below ten seconds this year. Did

:10:04. > :10:11.that in Beijing last month. 31 now. When you say 31, it pales into

:10:12. > :10:16.insignificance, Kim Collins - 9.93 in Germany last Sunday. The second

:10:17. > :10:28.quickest in the world this year. He is 40-years-old now. World Champion

:10:29. > :10:34.over 12 years ago. Chijindu Ujah, he goes in Lane 6. 10.06 in

:10:35. > :10:41.Loughborough a couple of weeks ago. Always smiling and nice to see him

:10:42. > :10:49.back here, Adam Gemili. He is such a popular figure. Needs 10.16

:10:50. > :10:57.qualifying standard. That is something to look out for. Isiah

:10:58. > :11:06.Young is a replacement for Trayvon Bromell. In Lane 9 from the

:11:07. > :11:20.Netherlands Churandy Martina. Another veteran, I suppose.

:11:21. > :11:27.We are very fortunate to have the good conditions, it is warm as well.

:11:28. > :11:32.A little bit cooler in the stands. We can vouch for that. Not too much

:11:33. > :11:38.wind. And the atmosphere builds and builds.

:11:39. > :11:46.Ujah and Gemili together in Lanes 6 and 7. Remember that qualifying

:11:47. > :11:50.standard for British Olympic qualification - 10.16. Gemili just

:11:51. > :12:16.outside that recently. It is the Men's 100m. Not the start

:12:17. > :12:23.we wanted. Not an obvious one. Everybody in the commentary box is

:12:24. > :12:26.having a little think about that. Somebody in there is very nervous.

:12:27. > :12:37.Isiah Young is feeling his hamstring a bit. We are looking at reaction

:12:38. > :12:42.times coming up - Churandy Martina was nearest to the camera there and

:12:43. > :12:52.he will be the man who is given the shepherd's crook. His reaction time

:12:53. > :13:00.- 0.070. Anything below 0.1 is officially a false start. So,

:13:01. > :13:19.Martina, anxious furrowing of the brow. Generally, they would know.

:13:20. > :13:30.Churandy Martina is looking busy. No-one is looking across. The final

:13:31. > :13:40.decision is... Sorry, Churandy Martina.

:13:41. > :13:54.A brief day's work for Churandy Martina. It wasn't a huge false

:13:55. > :14:03.start either. In days long gone by, that would have been fine, seen as a

:14:04. > :14:08.good, flying start. But off he goes. As we can confirm, 0.070 reaction

:14:09. > :14:20.time. So we go again. Just a reminder, that Gemili will be

:14:21. > :14:23.looking for that qualifying standard. CJ Ujah has it already,

:14:24. > :14:56.10.16. We are slowly whittling them away.

:14:57. > :15:11.Aaron Brown might as well keep on running! I thought it was Brown...

:15:12. > :15:12.Was Ujah involved? Colin Jackson, he was a great starter. What is going

:15:13. > :15:38.on? Lots of nervousness, but moving

:15:39. > :15:44.before the gun. The rules state the starter could disqualify all of

:15:45. > :15:49.them. It is in his powers. Let's put an end to it and move on. Brown has

:15:50. > :16:00.certainly gone. He dragged others with him.

:16:01. > :16:13.Only a matter of time before Brown has gone. Slightly behind schedule

:16:14. > :16:25.now. His reaction time given as yesterday. We have lost Brown. It is

:16:26. > :16:52.musical chairs. Who is left? Third time of asking. This is a real

:16:53. > :16:57.test of concentration for Gemili and Ujah and the other athletes. There

:16:58. > :17:03.is still a race to become. Qualifying standard perhaps for

:17:04. > :17:10.Gemili to achieve. Settling in again for the hundred metres. Cleanly away

:17:11. > :17:17.this time. Good start by Kim Collins and Mike Rodgers. CJ Ujah making the

:17:18. > :17:23.move and those three across the line very close. Perhaps Collins in the

:17:24. > :17:33.middle. Wonderful race, Gemili left behind somewhat. Ujah came through

:17:34. > :17:40.and finished strongly. After all fat, a very good race. Collins and

:17:41. > :17:49.Rodgers and CJ Ujah. 'S after all that. We will get the official

:17:50. > :17:55.result but first and foremost a great race. That is what we want to

:17:56. > :17:58.see, good competitive sprinting. It is ready for daft of the false

:17:59. > :18:05.starts to refocus because a lot of the nervous energy has drained out

:18:06. > :18:08.and each and every one of those false starts make that happen. Very

:18:09. > :18:13.good competitive race between the old and the new. We expect Mike

:18:14. > :18:20.Rodgers to be a little more explosive than that. Better known as

:18:21. > :18:32.a 60-metre runner. But Kim Collins, look at that, Evergreen.

:18:33. > :18:45.How close is that? Very close, given the same time but Collins has been

:18:46. > :18:48.given it. Slight wind, slight concern as well for Adam Gemili

:18:49. > :18:56.because he did not have it. He will be quite frustrated. Thinking he can

:18:57. > :18:59.run reasonably close to that. Perhaps asking why they did not

:19:00. > :19:09.happen today. He still has those trials. They will be the most

:19:10. > :19:15.competitive we have ever seen. You can see Kim Collins just getting in

:19:16. > :19:18.ahead of Mike Rodgers with CJ Ujah in third place. Adam Gemili in sixth

:19:19. > :19:26.and both of the British athletes down there with Phil. There is life

:19:27. > :19:32.in the old dog yet, but what about the young pups. It was good.

:19:33. > :19:35.Definitely distracting with the false starts but you have to get

:19:36. > :19:42.used to that because you know what it's going to be like at the

:19:43. > :19:48.championships. How nervous is that? You have to keep your call. I just

:19:49. > :19:53.get back in the box and focus. And your performance, 10.12. Definitely

:19:54. > :19:59.improving from Rome but it is early doors, trials in three weeks. Not

:20:00. > :20:04.the time to pick but I know you were chasing a time. Trials still to

:20:05. > :20:09.come. I am in a different stage of the season to a lot of them. My

:20:10. > :20:14.first race last week. I am lacking sharpness and had a stumble out

:20:15. > :20:18.there. I know the times here from last year I went well but then tore

:20:19. > :20:23.my hamstring so what you do here is what you do at the chance. I look

:20:24. > :20:29.forward to trials. Good to banishment was from last year. What

:20:30. > :20:39.ever you do don't dip! I was just taking it easy. I am better than

:20:40. > :20:49.10.29 as an athlete but we move forward. Happy birthday to my

:20:50. > :21:07.auntie! Cheers, guys. STUDIO: Kim Collins taking it, Mike Rodgers with

:21:08. > :21:13.the same time. STUDIO: Very familiar figure, Cristina

:21:14. > :21:19.Christine Ohuruogu with her first test of the season. Targeting a

:21:20. > :21:33.fourth Olympic Games. Christine Ohuruogu is going to win

:21:34. > :21:37.the Commonwealth title. Christine Ohuruogu is perhaps going to get

:21:38. > :21:44.there. I wins the gold. She is world champion. Christine Ohuruogu takes

:21:45. > :21:51.the gold. The world champion becomes Olympic champion. Sterling effort to

:21:52. > :21:58.get the silver. She has got it. Another gold-medal.

:21:59. > :22:05.She is one of those athletes who knows how to perform on the big

:22:06. > :22:11.stage. She paces herself and manages herself very well and you can tell

:22:12. > :22:15.that by the fact she is heading towards a fourth Olympic Games.

:22:16. > :22:22.Steve Cram, when you get over 30 it is so vital to manage things. It is,

:22:23. > :22:27.I wish I had done it better. We were chatting about it last night,

:22:28. > :22:31.someone asking me how many good performances I had over the age of

:22:32. > :22:35.30 and I can count them on one hand. It is about managing your own

:22:36. > :22:40.expectations and your career. You want to hit the heights and

:22:41. > :22:46.Christine has hit the highest of heights. You have to learn to back

:22:47. > :22:51.off a little bit. Christine is very good at that. She has not stressed

:22:52. > :22:57.about not running well early in the season but it is getting tougher. We

:22:58. > :23:02.have three women in this race for Great Britain all of whom could win.

:23:03. > :23:09.Overnight the news is that Emily Diamond in Germany yesterday ran

:23:10. > :23:16.51.23 Citroen herself forward as a real contender. Bundy-Davies in Lane

:23:17. > :23:43.2 Magura. 23-year-old from the Netherlands,

:23:44. > :23:50.new personal best this year. Sarah Bundy-Davies just outside the

:23:51. > :23:54.qualification time. As we go through these next few weeks we should make

:23:55. > :23:59.people aware that qualification times can go back until May one,

:24:00. > :24:03.2015 and Sarah certainly went quicker last year than this year.

:24:04. > :24:10.Chrisitine Day as I said quickest in the field. Will want to be part of

:24:11. > :24:15.the Jamaican relay squad. And I think for Christine individual

:24:16. > :24:22.honours will be at the forefront of her mind. CHEERING

:24:23. > :24:26.But also helping Britain develop a new relay team. Perri shakes trade

:24:27. > :24:34.and also back in competition elsewhere today. We will get an

:24:35. > :24:51.indication today. France will also have a good squad.

:24:52. > :24:58.They already raced each other over 400 metres. And Mitchell Morgan on

:24:59. > :25:26.the outside for Australia. Really open race and if Christine

:25:27. > :25:35.Ohuruogu after her first performance of the year in Kingston, describing

:25:36. > :25:37.it as a scrappy opener, 52.0 flat. Let's see if she has come on from

:25:38. > :25:54.that. Got away cleanly. Lovely day in

:25:55. > :25:59.Birmingham. Not always the best track for a and there is a breeze

:26:00. > :26:07.down back straight. Starting out quickly. Mitchell of Australia.

:26:08. > :26:20.Christine starting quickly chasing down a florid way -- Florio quite.

:26:21. > :26:31.Chrisitine Day, Mitchell still on the outside.

:26:32. > :26:39.The French athlete starts to come away, leading this one, Mitchell

:26:40. > :26:46.coming back. Floria Guei going to get it. Bundy-Davies perhaps winning

:26:47. > :26:53.the battle of the British athletes. Well, she will be delighted with

:26:54. > :26:58.that. 51.23 was her previous season 's best and that could be a new

:26:59. > :27:05.personal best if it is confirmed for the French athlete. I think she

:27:06. > :27:11.judged that well. She had Christine Ohuruogu, obviously not the quickest

:27:12. > :27:17.starter, Anyika did well. Then a really good band from Christine,

:27:18. > :27:24.into the final bend with Chrisitine Day but then on she went and

:27:25. > :27:28.personal best. Very well run. Looking from the other end sadly

:27:29. > :27:33.that is where we found Christine Ohuruogu, so used to seeing her

:27:34. > :27:42.finish strongly, but watch her here, coming across the line she is

:27:43. > :27:54.absolutely spent. Nowhere near her best here, worrying signs, and

:27:55. > :27:58.Anyika Onuora tying up a little bit. Contrast of Christine looking like

:27:59. > :28:02.it is hard work and the answers she has not come up from the last race

:28:03. > :28:09.but Bundy-Davies certainly has. The time is confirmed, seasons best for

:28:10. > :28:16.Anyika but Sarah Bundy-Davies who finished really strongly, having

:28:17. > :28:19.struggled over perhaps the first 200 metres, sometimes that is the issue

:28:20. > :28:24.for Sarah. Sometimes does not have the pace of the other athletes but

:28:25. > :28:29.that is a big performance from her. Not quite as fast as Emily Diamond

:28:30. > :28:43.yesterday but a great performance from her. But the winner is Guei.

:28:44. > :28:51.Christine and Sarah, disappointment after that race. Awful, not quite

:28:52. > :28:59.sure what went on. Always disappointing not to perform well on

:29:00. > :29:04.your home ground. You said after Kingston it was scrappy. I thought

:29:05. > :29:09.this was better but obviously it isn't because this is a worst time.

:29:10. > :29:18.I will go and talk to my coach and we will pull things apart. Personal

:29:19. > :29:24.best, Sarah, in contrast. Yes, I opened up slowly this year, I wanted

:29:25. > :29:27.to keep my good shape going from the winter and last time I was a bit

:29:28. > :29:34.tired but my coach wanted me to execute the race properly. Get the

:29:35. > :29:44.right pace through 200 so I am really happy today. It really bold

:29:45. > :29:51.and that like it really bodes well. And Christine, great things to come.

:29:52. > :29:53.I am trying not to panic just yet. STUDIO: Out already ahead of the

:29:54. > :30:15.women's 400 metre hurdles, a Welcome. How are you, what shape are

:30:16. > :30:19.you in? I'm in good shape. I had a niggle a few weeks ago. That has

:30:20. > :30:24.cleared up. I'm hoping to start my season off next week. You are using

:30:25. > :30:28.your expert eye to have a look at Eilidh Doyle? That's right. We have

:30:29. > :30:32.some footage - hopefully the big-screen will be working. This is

:30:33. > :30:37.the Beijing final from last year. She is going down the back straight

:30:38. > :30:44.into Hurdle 5, it is about stride pattern. She is ahead of the Danish

:30:45. > :30:50.girl. This is where it goes wrong. If you look at the arms, long arms,

:30:51. > :30:59.and a stutter. You don't want to have any stuttering at all in the

:31:00. > :31:03.400m hurdles. You really want to minimise that in the race. In the

:31:04. > :31:06.space of three hurdles, she's gone from being in a strong position to

:31:07. > :31:10.dropping back behind these two athletes. In contrast, if you look

:31:11. > :31:16.at her at the start of this season, she seems to have changed a few

:31:17. > :31:21.things. There she is, getting that last hurdle wrong. There she is in

:31:22. > :31:25.Doha. Coming into the top bend, she did this so well. She was so smooth,

:31:26. > :31:30.she was, throughout the whole race. It was fantastic to see. Very, very

:31:31. > :31:35.strong coming off the bend. Put in a great position. She came away with a

:31:36. > :31:39.great season opener, it was the fastest opener ever, and I will be

:31:40. > :31:44.intrigued to see what she can do today, if she can continue that

:31:45. > :31:48.form. We will see what she does out on the track. It has been quiet out

:31:49. > :31:53.there. Understandably, the world of athletics wants to pay its respects

:31:54. > :31:59.to Muhammad Ali. Ladies and gentlemen, Muhammad Ali passed away

:32:00. > :32:01.yesterday at the age of 74. As an Olympic Champion and three-times

:32:02. > :32:06.World Heavyweight Champion he was surely the most famous sporting

:32:07. > :32:10.figure of all time. His fights with George Foreman and Joe Frazier have

:32:11. > :32:13.gone into sporting legend. He was a figurehead in the civil rights

:32:14. > :32:19.movement and a man prepared to speak his mind and later he battled the

:32:20. > :32:23.debilitating effects of Parkinson's disease with extraordinary bravery

:32:24. > :32:27.and dignity. So, I ask you to join in a minute's applause for The

:32:28. > :33:36.Greatest, Muhammad Ali. Ladies and gentlemen, thank you, a

:33:37. > :33:41.great tribute to a great man. A hero to so many people around the world.

:33:42. > :33:46.He transcended not just his own sport, but sport - and you hear so

:33:47. > :33:54.many sportsmen and women citing him as a role model. Let's head down to

:33:55. > :33:59.the track for the Women's 400m Hurdles.

:34:00. > :34:03.COMMENTARY: A great reception for Muhammad Ali Muhammad Ali, including

:34:04. > :34:24.the athletes as well, who are ready for this race.

:34:25. > :34:30.Rosolova has had an injury-ravaged couple of years. It looked like she

:34:31. > :34:36.was the athlete that was going to push herself to the top of the

:34:37. > :34:40.world. Still very talented. 29. She is inside Kaliese Spencer, another

:34:41. > :34:49.who has been struggling a little bit. Had a great two or three years.

:34:50. > :34:58.And not going quite so well in 2016. Dalilah Muhammad from the Yousif.

:34:59. > :35:07.Has run 54-64. Now, Cassandra Tate, ran the other night. Pretty good

:35:08. > :35:10.start to her season. Not good as Eilidh Doyle, though. That race in

:35:11. > :35:19.Doha, she was superb. Quickest start ever. Went on to Tenerife for some

:35:20. > :35:30.warm-weather training. Ran in Rome. Made a few mistakes. The surprise

:35:31. > :35:36.winner of the indoor flat championships, Kemi Adekoya of

:35:37. > :35:39.Bahrain. Georganne Moline, she was the fastest in the world and had

:35:40. > :35:54.been billed highly going into Rome. She is in Lane 7 today. Linkiewicz,

:35:55. > :36:06.of Poland on the outside. Moline was beaten by Russell. Eilidh Doyle this

:36:07. > :36:12.time has Adekoya outside her. I'm wondering whether this lane, there's

:36:13. > :36:19.been a change because Moline was initially in Lane 4 and Tate would

:36:20. > :36:28.have been in Lane 7. Now, Tate is inside Eilidh Doyle.

:36:29. > :36:39.The Women's 400m Hurdles. Eilidh Doyle has been training

:36:40. > :36:47.really well. A lot of good speed work being done. She's gone off

:36:48. > :36:51.pretty quickly. Cassandra Tate started quickly, Moline has gone

:36:52. > :36:56.quickly off in Lane 7. Eilidh Doyle going well down the back straight

:36:57. > :37:02.and may have a slight lead here, just about half a metre or so. It is

:37:03. > :37:06.from this point on where she needs to keep that rhythm together. So,

:37:07. > :37:13.Eilidh Doyle leading this and the crowd really getting into this.

:37:14. > :37:18.Cassandra Tate now moving up, so Doyle with a metre lead now, she

:37:19. > :37:22.finished strongly in Doha. Can she do it here? One more flight. Still

:37:23. > :37:26.in the lead. Moline trying to get back to her. Eilidh Doyle, can she

:37:27. > :37:34.hang on? It will be tight. Tate might get there, but Doyle wins it!

:37:35. > :37:40.54.59. Well, she really committed to the race there. Strong around the

:37:41. > :37:44.top bend. And then maybe didn't finish quite as well as she did back

:37:45. > :37:47.in Doha because the others were coming strongly off the final

:37:48. > :37:52.hurdle. But I think she will be delighted with the win, in front of

:37:53. > :37:57.her home crowd, another performance in the mid-50s. Colin, that was hard

:37:58. > :38:00.work over the last two flights? She had done all the hard work and had

:38:01. > :38:05.to hold it together. I was listening to a conversation between herself

:38:06. > :38:15.and her coach Malcolm Arnold earlier, and Malcolm insisted that

:38:16. > :38:19.she did 15s to five. She did that. Each and every one of the final

:38:20. > :38:23.barriers she took cleanly, allowing her to run off them well, and look

:38:24. > :38:27.at that, taking that victory. It was a close one. But we don't care, it's

:38:28. > :38:31.a victory. Not sure it is. On that picture, we had it as a victory,

:38:32. > :38:37.they have been given the same time. On the computer, it has come up as a

:38:38. > :38:41.victory - let's look at this from this side. Tate has got this on the

:38:42. > :38:47.lean. She is in the lead. She is in the lead. Here comes Cassandra Tate.

:38:48. > :38:51.That doesn't show us! I can tell you that officially they have been given

:38:52. > :38:55.the same time but the verdict, despite what that looks like

:38:56. > :38:59.there... That still looks like a victory for Eilidh Doyle. We are

:39:00. > :39:07.scrutinising that closely. They will have another side of that. There may

:39:08. > :39:11.be a bit of negotiations going on later on. I think Eilidh Doyle took

:39:12. > :39:17.that. Well, anyway, that is one for the judges to sort. Apparently, they

:39:18. > :39:20.have. Eilidh Doyle a smile there. She would have loved the win. No,

:39:21. > :39:30.the win would have been much nicer for her. As you say, that is the

:39:31. > :39:34.decision. It does look puzzling, it looks like you have won. When you

:39:35. > :39:40.crossed the line, you said you weren't sure? I thought I was

:39:41. > :39:43.tightening up a bit. It is good. A brilliant class of athletes there.

:39:44. > :39:48.To be that close to winning, I can't complain. It shows what a tremendous

:39:49. > :39:51.start you have made to the season, a first place, a third, now a second.

:39:52. > :39:56.And all the hard work you have put in in Olympic year is paying off? It

:39:57. > :40:05.is great... Training has been going well. To come out and do it in a

:40:06. > :40:13.race... I am glad I can replicate it from training. Congratulations of

:40:14. > :40:19.becoming married. Life has changed, and your husband has moved down to

:40:20. > :40:23.Bath? It is so much easier having Brian there with me, and also my

:40:24. > :40:26.dog, Ben. I'm not constantly travelling back-and-forth to

:40:27. > :40:28.Scotland so much. Keep up the good form. It is tremendous to see. Thank

:40:29. > :40:42.you very much. Cheers. Confirmation then, not what we

:40:43. > :40:46.thought, but that is what has been decided, 54.57, the time for both of

:40:47. > :40:57.the athletes. Moline, 54.63, almost got there in the end.

:40:58. > :41:05.On the track for the first semifinal and leading the way in the race is

:41:06. > :41:09.Dafne Schippers, the flying Dutchwoman will be aiming for a

:41:10. > :41:13.golden double in Rio. She has had a strong start to the season. Here is

:41:14. > :41:22.Phil with some of the most prominent performers so far in 2016.

:41:23. > :41:29.With the Rio countdown on, there have been some incredible female

:41:30. > :41:37.performances this year, Ayana set the second fastest time ever in Rome

:41:38. > :41:43.on Thursday. Perkovic threw a massive 70.88 in the discus, a new

:41:44. > :41:52.Diamond League record. Ruth Jebet became the second woman in history

:41:53. > :42:07.to run under nine minutes in the steeplechase. Semenya raced a win in

:42:08. > :42:11.Rabat and then in Rome. USA were leading the way in sprint hurdling,

:42:12. > :42:21.Harrison scored the secondest fastest time ever. Honours have gone

:42:22. > :42:26.to Tori Bowie who is the fastest in both events. Dafne Schippers isn't

:42:27. > :42:27.that far behind. The battle between Bowie and Schippers will be one to

:42:28. > :42:39.watch come Rio. That is a really interesting battle.

:42:40. > :42:42.You can throw English Gardner and Elaine Thompson into that battle.

:42:43. > :42:48.Eight women have run under 11 seconds already this year. We have

:42:49. > :43:10.got two heats of the Women's 100m. The young 19-year-old, who just

:43:11. > :43:16.missed out on a medal at the European Juniors last year, Daryll

:43:17. > :43:20.Neita, 11.42, a season's best. Carina Horn, running pretty well.

:43:21. > :43:24.South African sprinters are doing well, particularly the men this

:43:25. > :43:29.year. They are having a fantastic season so far. Things got started

:43:30. > :43:37.early for South Africans, down in March and April. Michelle-Lee Ahye,

:43:38. > :43:45.11.07 this year. There's Dafne Schippers. I don't think - she

:43:46. > :43:53.doesn't smile enough for my liking! She hasn't had too much to smile

:43:54. > :44:00.about. I know she's been disappointed with one or two of her

:44:01. > :44:08.for mances this year. Ta Lou goes in Lane 6. Fifth in the Doha 100m. We

:44:09. > :44:16.have four women who have already run the qualifying time - Asha Philip,

:44:17. > :44:23.but Ashleigh Nelson ran 11.19. That equalled her personal best. Kimberly

:44:24. > :44:29.Hyacinthe of Canada on the outside. So you need to finish in the top

:44:30. > :44:34.three or be one of the fastest losers from the two heats to go

:44:35. > :44:44.through to the final which is just before 4.00pm. Schippers in Lane 5.

:44:45. > :44:49.And a real opportunity here for Asha Philip and Ashleigh Nelson to, I was

:44:50. > :44:52.going to say post a time - the wind is not helping today. There is a

:44:53. > :44:55.little breeze into their faces in the home straight here. The men's

:44:56. > :45:20.was minus 0.8. Aiken Schippers away pretty well.

:45:21. > :45:28.Carina Horn started pretty quickly. Nelson chasing down Dafne Schippers

:45:29. > :45:35.who will win it from Nelson. The wind really got out. The times might

:45:36. > :45:40.not happen. As expected Schippers goes through but Ashleigh Nelson

:45:41. > :45:44.looking really strong. Good performance from her. Never as quick

:45:45. > :45:52.out of the blocks but the second half was pretty impressive. She

:45:53. > :45:57.absolutely ran well. Potentially a tough race for the Brits with only

:45:58. > :46:05.the first three going through. And two fastest. Everybody looking at

:46:06. > :46:10.Schippers in Lane 5, we know she has been working on her starts. Looking

:46:11. > :46:19.very easy in the centre of the screen. Beautiful relaxed running.

:46:20. > :46:31.Job done. Moving nicely through to the final later. Schippers as ever,

:46:32. > :46:36.when you are running into a strong headwind you want to be like Dafne

:46:37. > :46:41.Schippers, she is strong. I was really impressed with Elson, the

:46:42. > :46:48.first time I have seen her this year, really good run. Pity the win

:46:49. > :46:54.was against, you won't get those times today. Ashley bitterly

:46:55. > :46:58.disappointed, some niggles and injuries in the last few years but

:46:59. > :47:09.definitely means business with those trials coming up. The others will

:47:10. > :47:20.have to wait and see if those times are any good another great field

:47:21. > :47:31.event, Tia Brooks having a good season so far in the shop that. That

:47:32. > :47:42.is the golden mark, below 20 metres. She waits for that to be measured.

:47:43. > :47:50.19.37. Comeback trail for one of the most accessible athletes across

:47:51. > :47:55.athletics. I was hoping to see her throwing in excess of 20 metres,

:47:56. > :48:07.Valerie Adams. Seasons best for the 31-year-old. That throw was 19.30

:48:08. > :48:20.two. We look back at the javelins. The first event to start this

:48:21. > :48:31.afternoon. Goldie Sayers in the first round. We had a chat about her

:48:32. > :48:35.Olympic medal, short on pace, her left foot never got ahead. Below 60

:48:36. > :49:05.metres. Real disappointment. the tool Latvian uses her leave very

:49:06. > :49:15.well. -- levers. Just shy of the world leading distance from

:49:16. > :49:18.Palameika. Mitchell coached by the only man ever to have thrown beyond

:49:19. > :49:42.100 metres, back in the 80s. Para round five better again from

:49:43. > :49:53.Palameika. Really got onto this. In the groove. Palameika improving with

:49:54. > :50:00.65.68 and that was enough to win. Mitchell in second place. Molitor

:50:01. > :50:03.the goal champion and disappointment as well for Goldie Sayers. -- the

:50:04. > :50:15.world champion. Another great field event under the

:50:16. > :50:27.big stand, the women's triple jump. The Olympic champion from 2012 in

:50:28. > :50:36.the last round, in second place. Ibarguen in the lead. Rypakova, this

:50:37. > :50:43.could be a big upset for the Colombian, Ibarguen. 34 consecutive

:50:44. > :50:49.victories she has that. Rypakova from Kazakhstan becoming the first

:50:50. > :50:56.Kazakh to win an Olympic medal, in 2012. This would be a great

:50:57. > :51:02.confidence booster ahead of the Rio Olympics. It is going to threaten,

:51:03. > :51:09.it has. A big seasons best for Rypakova and she takes the lead.

:51:10. > :51:17.The second heat of the women's wine hundredweight is. Three going

:51:18. > :51:36.through automatically. Samuel of the Netherlands,

:51:37. > :51:46.outstanding junior but has not quite clicked on to great success in the

:51:47. > :51:58.senior ranks. Speaking of young talents, Swoboda still only 19.

:51:59. > :52:08.Simone Facey the oldest in this heat. Only Tory Barry has a quicker

:52:09. > :52:15.time than this woman this year. 10.81 in Eugene a week ago. And

:52:16. > :52:24.Bartoletta alongside her, twice world long jump champion. There will

:52:25. > :52:35.be a warm welcome for the woman in Lane 7. Just finished her second

:52:36. > :52:40.year exams at Kings in London. Asher-Smith. And perhaps just

:52:41. > :52:53.sneaking out of her shadows now, both 20, ran 11 point 06 in

:52:54. > :53:00.California mixer on the British all-time list. Three going through

:53:01. > :53:26.automatically. At the I am looking at the Winsock and it

:53:27. > :53:33.has totally switched round. Hanging rather limply at the moment. It was

:53:34. > :53:36.against them for the first heat. Switching around.

:53:37. > :54:01.Cleanly away. It is English Gardner and Simone Facey, Gardner coming

:54:02. > :54:08.through quickly. Asher-Smith coming through. As is Henry. The wind had

:54:09. > :54:18.switched round a little bit, helping them, call for those in the first

:54:19. > :54:21.heat. -- that is cruel. The win for English Gardner, slightly down on

:54:22. > :54:25.her flying times this season but enough to move through comfortably

:54:26. > :54:31.to the final. Very close behind for the three automatic qualifiers.

:54:32. > :54:36.Looking down to see who came through but it was not quite in the legs of

:54:37. > :54:45.Asher-Smith, Desiree Henry finishing rather stronger. Near enough perfect

:54:46. > :54:52.conditions, Denise Lewis. English Gardner to the fore again. English

:54:53. > :54:57.Gardner there was really relaxed. She has the running in her legs,

:54:58. > :55:00.very quick times recently. She could just cruise through to take that

:55:01. > :55:06.victory. My eyes were on Desiree Henry and particularly Dina

:55:07. > :55:10.Asher-Smith. She has not raced much, as you said, talking about the

:55:11. > :55:20.exams, but she has done enough if looks like, seasons best time for

:55:21. > :55:27.Asher-Smith as well. Fourth placed confirmed, 11.07, for Desiree Henry.

:55:28. > :55:31.Very close behind Gardner. The British girls running well, very

:55:32. > :55:35.impressed with Henry. In 2012 she was tipped as one to watch going

:55:36. > :55:39.forward but since then, we know what Dina Asher-Smith has done but

:55:40. > :55:53.showing her pedigree, training well, training with Schippers in the

:55:54. > :56:08.Netherlands. Very quick times across the fields.

:56:09. > :56:18.The qualifiers for the final, just before 4pm. And again the fastest

:56:19. > :56:40.losers coming from the second heat. Three British women into the final

:56:41. > :56:47.so that is testimony to how things are going. We will bring you that

:56:48. > :56:53.shortly. The rules change means that only the top four get three further

:56:54. > :57:03.jumps, that has showcased his final round of the women's triple.

:57:04. > :57:07.Ibarguen unbeaten in four years and that is going to be remarkably

:57:08. > :57:24.close. Looks like it might be slightly shy. Ibarguen with 34

:57:25. > :57:31.consecutive victories. Cost is of a valuable 15 centimetres by being

:57:32. > :57:32.behind the board. She needs 14.61 to wrestle the lead back from the

:57:33. > :57:48.Kazakh athlete. Libbard Ibarguen looks like she knows. Not

:57:49. > :58:05.enough. It means she is beaten for the first time in four years. That

:58:06. > :58:06.is a big upset. Slight disappointment for Samuel in eighth

:58:07. > :58:23.place. If you have been inspired, why not

:58:24. > :58:27.download the app. In just nine weeks with a mixture of walking and

:58:28. > :58:30.jogging you can build up to running five km three times a week and you

:58:31. > :58:38.could even choose a famous face to help you like Michael Johnson, or

:58:39. > :58:53.even me, Jo Wiley. Give it a go. Welcome to week one. It is about

:58:54. > :59:01.achieving your goals. Five km is what you are going to do. STUDIO:

:59:02. > :59:07.From couch to five km, so many of you taking it up. Head to the

:59:08. > :59:12.website, well worth it. You will also find a lot more activities to

:59:13. > :59:18.take up. We will head out to the field again. One of the great field

:59:19. > :59:23.athletes of the last generation, Valerie Adams, gracing the shot put

:59:24. > :59:29.competition today and Steve Backley can tell us how they are getting on.

:59:30. > :59:35.Valerie Adams double Olympic champion. First up, Tia Brooks going

:59:36. > :59:45.in chase of the lead. Her best throw so far. That looks to the closed to

:59:46. > :59:51.20 metres. Just seen a massive upset in the triple jump. This would be a

:59:52. > :59:55.little more predictable, Adams on the comeback trail from injury and

:59:56. > :00:02.surgery. Brooks has done it, into the lead.

:00:03. > :00:21.Adams looking to respond. I think she just saved that.

:00:22. > :00:30.She's had shoulder and elbow surgery over the last year or two. 19.63

:00:31. > :00:38.that was. So no improvement for her. They are lining up for the Men's

:00:39. > :00:46.3000m Steeplechase. Dominated by Kenya - seven of them in the 13-man

:00:47. > :01:02.field. Conseslus Kipruto is the man who is

:01:03. > :01:10.setting the pace in the Diamond League. Jairus Kipchoge Birech has

:01:11. > :01:24.pushed him close on a couple of them.

:01:25. > :01:30.Kipsang, the pacemaker. Conseslus Kipruto is unbeaten in the three

:01:31. > :01:33.races so far this season. There is Jairus Kipchoge Birech, who fell in

:01:34. > :01:47.Rome. A wave to the crowd from him. He fell approaching a barrier.

:01:48. > :01:58.Paul Kipsiele Koech, who was third in Rome, Chris Winter, Rob

:01:59. > :02:01.Mullett... And Luke Gunn still needs that qualifying standard. Krystian

:02:02. > :02:05.Zalewski - it might be close between Zalewski and Rob Mullett. It is

:02:06. > :02:14.going to be dominated by the Kenyan athletes, in particular. Look out

:02:15. > :02:22.also for Brimin Kiprop Kipruto, he is down on his best, though. He came

:02:23. > :02:25.close to the world record in 2011 in Monte Carlo. Conseslus Kipruto on

:02:26. > :02:50.the outside there. Rob Mullett is in the red and yellow

:02:51. > :02:57.vest, Luke Gunn two inside him. Barnabas Kipyego... Away they go.

:02:58. > :03:05.Again, you see the tactics offered by the pacemaker for this one, who

:03:06. > :03:10.is Lawrence Kemboi Kipsang. We will see how closely they stick to him

:03:11. > :03:16.and how close he can get to that. Expecting to see a very good race

:03:17. > :03:27.here. We will probably see the three Kenyans break away. They have had

:03:28. > :03:47.three tough races in Rabat, Doha and Rome.

:03:48. > :04:02.You can see already that it may be between the two men behind the

:04:03. > :04:07.pacemaker. Kipruto has had the better of Birech on every occasion.

:04:08. > :04:12.He fell about ten metres before the barrier and it wasn't the barrier

:04:13. > :04:18.itself, he clipped some imaginary something and went down. He left the

:04:19. > :04:22.way clear for Conseslus Kipruto. It should be a good battle between

:04:23. > :04:27.those two. Look out for the battles further down as well. Let's see what

:04:28. > :04:33.time Rob Mullett can manage, and Luke Gunn.

:04:34. > :04:46.The final stages of this Women's Shot Put. Valerie Adams is ten

:04:47. > :04:50.centimetres shy of the leader, Tia Brooks. Was expecting that to sail

:04:51. > :04:56.beyond 20 metres, so used to seeing that from Valerie Adams. Just maybe

:04:57. > :05:01.reversed on that, didn't get her timing quite right. It looks as

:05:02. > :05:07.though Tia Brooks has taken the victory in Birmingham, the American,

:05:08. > :05:14.ahead of Adams. 19.44, it is not enough for Adams, she has to settle

:05:15. > :05:16.for second place. The Men's 3000m Steeplechase continues, a wonderful

:05:17. > :05:23.setting here at the Alexander Stadium. Already, Conseslus Kipruto

:05:24. > :05:28.is beginning to separate himself from Jairus Kipchoge Birech.

:05:29. > :05:41.Lawrence Kemboi Kipsang has taken them through at a very good pace as

:05:42. > :05:50.well. I wonder if he can get close to 8:00.00. So far, Conseslus

:05:51. > :05:57.Kipruto, 8:01.41, so he needs to squeeze under that, sticking very

:05:58. > :06:01.closely to that barrier. Conseslus Kipruto has the side hitch clearance

:06:02. > :06:07.of the hurdles. That is his manner and look at the gap already back to

:06:08. > :06:11.Birech and Birech is not competing with Conseslus Kipruto here as he

:06:12. > :06:28.did in Rome and a long gap back to the rest as well. It is a very quick

:06:29. > :06:37.pace. The split was 2:35.00 through 800 metres. It might be on for a

:06:38. > :06:45.very quick time. Once the pacemaker drops out, it will be a lonely race

:06:46. > :06:52.as well. Birech is not too far adrift. Perhaps biding his time.

:06:53. > :06:56.There is the gap. The pacemaker Lawrence Kemboi Kipsang drops out

:06:57. > :07:01.and Conseslus Kipruto is left all alone. They are spread out along the

:07:02. > :07:05.track behind him. The wind is not making too much of a difference down

:07:06. > :07:16.the back straight. We will see as they come up the home straight. A

:07:17. > :07:23.move from Paul Kipsiele Koech as well, he was third in Rome, he is

:07:24. > :07:30.beginning to make his move. Still 40 metres behind Conseslus Kipruto, who

:07:31. > :07:33.continues to pound alone and set a furious pace here at the Alexander

:07:34. > :07:38.Stadium. No sign of fatigue so far. He looks as though there is as much

:07:39. > :07:45.bounce as there was at the beginning of the race. He will be jumping on

:07:46. > :07:50.more and more tired legs as the race goes on. He still looks full of

:07:51. > :07:56.running. Rob Mullett is trying to maintain contact with the little

:07:57. > :08:01.group as well. Conseslus Kipruto galloping free of the rest and Koech

:08:02. > :08:18.now in second place, ahead of Birech.

:08:19. > :08:30.He needs to run a fast but not overly fast last kilometre to bring

:08:31. > :08:35.him in under 8:00.00. What a ruthless pace Conseslus Kipruto is

:08:36. > :08:41.eting. Two laps to go here. Look at the gap back to world-class

:08:42. > :08:44.steeplechasers. Birech is burnt out and drifting back down into fourth

:08:45. > :08:48.place. It is all about Conseslus Kipruto and what time he can set

:08:49. > :08:52.here in this stadium. And certainly he is maintaining the pace that he

:08:53. > :08:56.needs to do to go under that eight minutes. It will be difficult for

:08:57. > :09:07.these athletes to judge the times that are needed because it's not

:09:08. > :09:12.obviously 400m laps. He needs to focus on maintaining his form and

:09:13. > :09:18.maintaining his rhythm over the last 600m. The gap is opening anymore.

:09:19. > :09:24.That burning pace is perhaps beginning to take its toll now. Into

:09:25. > :09:40.the water he goes. 500m remaining and what a pace he has set. 8:06.86

:09:41. > :09:46.is the All-Comers Record. Conseslus Kipruto continues to power his way

:09:47. > :09:49.forward. He has beaten everyone in the Men's 3000m Steeplechase this

:09:50. > :09:55.season in the Diamond League. He still powers his way on. He can do

:09:56. > :10:00.it but he is tired. You can see now when he jumps the barriers, there is

:10:01. > :10:03.a lot of fatigue in his legs. He knows he only has to get safely

:10:04. > :10:09.around this last lap and maintain the rhythm. That easy style and that

:10:10. > :10:14.relaxed face becomes a bit of a grimace. Still, he is loping on.

:10:15. > :10:21.Koech, a bit of a stutter into the barrier. Tired legs and the lactic

:10:22. > :10:29.filling them. Puffing out the cheeks and blowing hard now, Conseslus

:10:30. > :10:40.Kipruto. Can he beat that magical eight-minute barrier, a target for

:10:41. > :10:44.so many great steeplechasers. Into the final straight, the victory is

:10:45. > :10:49.his. The crowd willing him on. It is going to be close. I think the clock

:10:50. > :10:57.might beat him. Towards the line and just! Just outside. Oh, Conseslus

:10:58. > :11:07.Kipruto, what a victory and how close! Koech comes through for

:11:08. > :11:13.second. Congratulations and some commiserations as well. In third it

:11:14. > :11:16.was Kipyego, but what a run it was from Conseslus Kipruto. Even the

:11:17. > :11:20.greatest feel it in the end when they have given so much. That was a

:11:21. > :11:34.brutal pace. It caught up with him in the end. What a time - a

:11:35. > :11:37.world-leading time - 8:00.12. He sees the clock ticking away from

:11:38. > :11:45.him. He really committed and he gave it everything in that race. Maybe a

:11:46. > :11:49.bit too quick with that 2:35.00 first kilometre. Just wasn't able to

:11:50. > :11:54.hold it. It was probably the penultimate lap where he started to

:11:55. > :11:59.tire and slipped outside that sub-eight minutes. He was trying for

:12:00. > :12:09.that, the crowd were willing him to it as well. That is not often you

:12:10. > :12:16.see in Conseslus Kipruto, it's a world lead, a meeting record, but

:12:17. > :12:17.what a run, what a run from Conseslus Kipruto in the Men's 3000m

:12:18. > :12:27.Steeplechase. Eilidh Doyle has made her way up to

:12:28. > :12:32.the studio. Hello. Congratulations. We thought you had that? I thought I

:12:33. > :12:36.had it as well! It was very close. I can't complain. It was a world-class

:12:37. > :12:42.field. It was good to be close to the winner. Can you appeal? I don't

:12:43. > :12:51.know. Let it go! Let's see if it made good viewing from Dai's eyes.

:12:52. > :12:57.He's had a look. This is the race, we have Eilidh Doyle highlighted. I

:12:58. > :13:00.know she does her 15 strides at the start here, very aggressive, after

:13:01. > :13:04.speaking with her as well she said it was quite windy as well. She is

:13:05. > :13:13.executing it well down the back straight. This is the easy part of

:13:14. > :13:17.the race. No problems to report yet. We have it paused here. She is ahead

:13:18. > :13:23.of the field here. Going into the bend and this is what let her down

:13:24. > :13:28.previously. You can see how smooth she is around the bend. Technically

:13:29. > :13:33.very well. No issues to report so far. And as she's coming out of the

:13:34. > :13:39.bend, she's in front of the other girls, still maintaining that lead,

:13:40. > :13:44.which shows how well how hurdling has improved. She comes off the

:13:45. > :13:55.barrier so well in comparison to the other athletes. The American Tate is

:13:56. > :14:01.closing down slightly, and there is a fight to the line. I think from

:14:02. > :14:05.that angle that she wins! When we were discussing the races before,

:14:06. > :14:08.comparing Beijing and Doha, and Dai focussed on that bend. Is that an

:14:09. > :14:20.area you have worked through the winter on? We have been working on

:14:21. > :14:24.that area. My first 200m goes well. The 200 to 300 is where I lose a bit

:14:25. > :14:29.of ground. We have been working hard on that this winter. We have done a

:14:30. > :14:38.lot more hurdling in the build-up to the season starting. Is that more

:14:39. > :14:42.work altogether or has something else had to come out of the diary?

:14:43. > :14:45.We dropped one of my gym sessions and added an extra track session.

:14:46. > :14:49.That has helped with my speed. We have done more hurdling to balance

:14:50. > :14:50.the speed that I've got now with my rhythm in the hurdles and hopefully

:14:51. > :15:02.that is starting to pay off. Are there any tunes you think about

:15:03. > :15:08.to try and alter that? I think about hurdle five and hurdle six and I

:15:09. > :15:11.have been working on the back straight. If I'm having to stretch

:15:12. > :15:18.for number five I can keep my 15 until then but otherwise I will

:15:19. > :15:23.carry it further. It is having the back-up plan. I used to keep the

:15:24. > :15:29.same pattern and it became restrictive. Now I have a couple of

:15:30. > :15:34.back-up plans. Two months until the opening ceremony, three weeks until

:15:35. > :15:40.trials. How do you manage things? Just about ticking over. The hard

:15:41. > :15:46.work has been done and now it is just about getting sharp and try to

:15:47. > :15:52.peak at trials to secure the qualifying and then go into more

:15:53. > :15:53.training towards Rio. Best of luck Mrs Doyle, still getting used to

:15:54. > :16:04.it... Obviously the in fine form and Phil has been

:16:05. > :16:07.looking on the men making their mark this season. The men's competition

:16:08. > :16:13.has been hotting up ready for the Olympic Carnival in there. Jamaican

:16:14. > :16:21.sprint hurdler Omar MacLeod has the top four times in the world this

:16:22. > :16:28.year. American Justin Gatlin has a 100-metre mission again this season.

:16:29. > :16:38.He ran 9.93 in Rome on Thursday but Usain Bolt clocked 9.98 so roll on

:16:39. > :16:43.their jewel. Wayde van Niekirk won in Rome three days ago but faces

:16:44. > :16:49.fierce, edition from James and LaShawn Merritt. Christian Taylor

:16:50. > :16:53.was close to breaking Jonathan Edwards's record last year and will

:16:54. > :17:02.be hoping to retain his Olympic title after winning in Doha and

:17:03. > :17:06.Eugene. They have Abdul Rahman -- Shihab Abdul Rahman through an

:17:07. > :17:17.impressive distance in Eugene. And Mo Farah as competition in rear.

:17:18. > :17:24.Kipruto has enjoyed a hat-trick of wins in the 3000 metres

:17:25. > :17:29.steeplechase. And his fellow Kenyan Kiprop has dominated the 1500

:17:30. > :17:38.metres. He is still hunting the 18-year-old world record. STUDIO:

:17:39. > :17:50.Reeva life will have noticed that Phil did that then Kipruto has now

:17:51. > :17:59.run 8:00.12 in steeplechase. Steve has hijacked. Eagerly awaited high

:18:00. > :18:11.jump competition, brilliant field. Yes, wait a second... The bar is

:18:12. > :18:17.off. Robbie not happy. He did not seem to hit the bar, the wind has

:18:18. > :18:26.been mentioned on Robbie is saying is that the bed not the upright and

:18:27. > :18:32.it wasn't him who knocked it off shoring the jump. -- during the

:18:33. > :18:52.jump. Controversy in the early stages. The other athletes it seems

:18:53. > :18:58.round and support. He clears the bar, but then it is dislodged. I am

:18:59. > :19:03.not sure where this could go. It is at the discretion of the officials.

:19:04. > :19:11.They may get the benefit of watching. CHEERING

:19:12. > :19:17.He is being awarded the John. Camaraderie in the high jump as

:19:18. > :19:27.ever. Successful attempt for Robbie Grabarz.

:19:28. > :19:46.Same height, Barshim has looked out of sorts this year, the best of the

:19:47. > :20:05.field on paper. Making it very easy indeed. Real proficient jumping,

:20:06. > :20:12.well over that. On the far side of the track but beyond the high

:20:13. > :20:20.jumpers, lining up for the 1500 metres. They have had a slightly

:20:21. > :20:32.curtailed warm up. Two British athlete, Lancashire and white. Silas

:20:33. > :20:47.Kiplagat will be hoping he can chase and hang onto his more well-known

:20:48. > :20:56.compatriot. Ryan Gregson and Nick Willis both interesting and Gideon

:20:57. > :21:04.athletes. What is Asbel Kiprop got in store? His pacemakers. I was

:21:05. > :21:08.talking to him in Eugene after the pacemakers really messed it up and

:21:09. > :21:13.he said he was ready to run fast but Rio was a big thing. Yesterday he

:21:14. > :21:23.said he was looking forward to good conditions and he has got them. Jake

:21:24. > :21:29.Wightman next to Willis. Both of them in good form. Willis has

:21:30. > :21:32.actually been pacing races in the US tried to help his team-mates get

:21:33. > :21:55.qualifying times. This time he will be going flat out. Hannes, Tom

:21:56. > :22:07.Lancashire. Qualifying time for the Olympics, 3:36.20. Qualification

:22:08. > :22:14.does go back until last year. Asbel Kiprop, really a question of whether

:22:15. > :22:21.he fancies going quick here. False start, well done, lads. Keen to get

:22:22. > :22:38.going. Really good conditions now. Just the

:22:39. > :22:47.breeze keeps moving around. Just back to wearing was at the

:22:48. > :22:59.beginning. The pace Kiprop has asked for is witty fast. The men's 1500

:23:00. > :23:06.metres gets underway in Birmingham. The great Asbel Kiprop will be the

:23:07. > :23:20.one everybody just watches on his first couple of laps. Kiptoo

:23:21. > :23:22.immediately to the fund. For the likes of Wightman and Lancashire

:23:23. > :23:30.they know they are probably better setting off for a moment as indeed

:23:31. > :23:35.Nick Willis, Hannes and others. It will be quick through the first 300

:23:36. > :23:42.metres. It is a bit silly but it probably means, Paula, that Kiprop

:23:43. > :23:50.means business. Definitely committing to running faster. There

:23:51. > :23:55.was potential for bumping and barging but given the pace they have

:23:56. > :24:00.gone out the danger has gone. Kiprop right on the shoulder of the

:24:01. > :24:09.pacemakers. He is here ready to commit to this race. Very fast first

:24:10. > :24:19.lap. It is difficult, you have to get out but then it could be

:24:20. > :24:25.dangerous. Magut as well, they are well strung out. You look back to

:24:26. > :24:30.the rest of the field. The British athletes a long way behind. 800

:24:31. > :24:44.metres to go and Kiprop with the pacemakers. They are committing to

:24:45. > :24:51.that. Quickly reeled in by those chasing behind, you are really

:24:52. > :24:58.strung out. They are just fighting to stay in touch, Kiprop is away

:24:59. > :25:12.down the track. Looks like he is interested in a fast time. His best

:25:13. > :25:14.this year 32.15. Kiprop wants to go past the pacemaker because it just

:25:15. > :25:20.dropped a little bit but still quick. Kiprop as he comes round this

:25:21. > :25:38.time will take the bell. The chasing pack their, will stop has been maybe

:25:39. > :25:43.made up little bit on Kiprop? Iguider starting to realise they

:25:44. > :25:52.could maybe make ground up on him. Every quick from Asbel Kiprop. You

:25:53. > :26:00.can see he is concentrating. He knows a quick time is on hair. Can

:26:01. > :26:10.he run the quickest time we have ever had in Great Britain? The

:26:11. > :26:20.fastest ever is 3:30.2 from Phil Gruchy. He will not be far away. --

:26:21. > :26:38.El Guerrouj. Look at the clock. It is under 3.30. I wondered whether he

:26:39. > :26:48.fancied it today. He certainly did. All the way this time. Not hanging

:26:49. > :26:51.about until the third lap, that is the fastest 1500 metres ever in

:26:52. > :26:57.Great Britain. The fastest in the world this year. If anyone was in

:26:58. > :27:06.any doubt about Kiprop's ability in terms of everybody else that just

:27:07. > :27:13.shows. He left eg Iguider a long way behind. Add to work hard over the

:27:14. > :27:22.last 20 metres. Probably not made any easier by the fact the wind was

:27:23. > :27:26.picking up in the final lap. He still looked strong and held his

:27:27. > :27:31.form really well. Smile of satisfaction as he approached the

:27:32. > :27:37.line and saw he had managed to slip under the 3.30 but definitely

:27:38. > :27:43.showing the other 1500 metre runners he might be concentrating on Rio, he

:27:44. > :27:47.was not concentrating on coming here to run fast but when he got out

:27:48. > :27:52.there he committed to it and clocked a fast time and did some damage to

:27:53. > :27:58.the confidence of the racers behind him. Kiprop even when he is hurting,

:27:59. > :28:02.his action stays really well but you can see Kiprop is working hard here.

:28:03. > :28:10.He tries to stay relaxed but goodness me that is a really, really

:28:11. > :28:14.great run. We -- he said he will start looking at the trials in Kenya

:28:15. > :28:23.at the end of the month but he is in great shape. What a performance, the

:28:24. > :28:29.fastest we have ever seen in Britain. Did you know that was

:28:30. > :28:32.within you today? My training has been going well and I was preparing

:28:33. > :28:42.to come here to run fast and I executed well. I am happy that I ran

:28:43. > :28:47.under 3.30. Inode Steve Cram was talking about the focus and

:28:48. > :28:56.termination on your face. I have been training and it is something I

:28:57. > :29:03.have a couple of months until the Olympic Games and I am concentrating

:29:04. > :29:08.on representing my country. You want your hands back on the gold medal?

:29:09. > :29:17.Getting the national anthem playing for Kenya, in Rio, that is my focus.

:29:18. > :29:24.Congratulations on a fantastic performance, truly stellar.

:29:25. > :29:32.UK allcomers record for Asbel Kiprop. Jake Wightman just finished

:29:33. > :29:37.ahead of Tom Lancashire, both running seasons best but not inside

:29:38. > :29:45.the Olympic qualifying yet. Nick Willis as I said God through in

:29:46. > :29:46.third place ahead of everybody else. -- got through. STUDIO: We have

:29:47. > :29:58.moved ourselves... Behind others right now the men in

:29:59. > :30:03.the long jump competition getting themselves introduced to the crowd

:30:04. > :30:07.and the crowd here in the main grandstand have a fantastic view of

:30:08. > :30:13.Greg Rutherford in particular they are pleased to see who already

:30:14. > :30:17.jumped 8.31 in Rome and we know the does the big jumps at the major

:30:18. > :30:21.championships but sometimes he is quiet in between at the Diamond

:30:22. > :30:22.League, not always leading Jumper. But has set his stall out early this

:30:23. > :30:29.season. He's become very wised. I think this

:30:30. > :30:34.is the best season I have ever seen Greg Rutherford. He is just relaxing

:30:35. > :30:39.now. He's got a tough competition today. It is not going to be easy

:30:40. > :30:43.for him. What he would want to do is not be beaten. He will try to beat

:30:44. > :30:50.that unbeaten run. He is jumping so well. You know what I always find

:30:51. > :30:54.interesting about Greg - you see all the other long jumpers are sat over

:30:55. > :31:00.there - if we can turn the camera round, they are over there on the

:31:01. > :31:04.side. Then Greg is just lying on the floor with us here, away from the

:31:05. > :31:08.rest of the field. The rest of the field are over there, the rest of

:31:09. > :31:12.the field, if we look at them. And it is like a psychological thing.

:31:13. > :31:18.Why is he separating himself like that? It is good for your opponents

:31:19. > :31:22.to see you. If you look really calm in your own environment, and because

:31:23. > :31:29.you are chilling, they will always see you and focus on you. I think he

:31:30. > :31:35.will have dominance over them. It is great seeing him like this. Paula

:31:36. > :31:55.and Andy are about to commentate on the Women's 800m. Rose-Anne Galligan

:31:56. > :32:04.is the pacemaker. Galligan will try to take them round through 400m in

:32:05. > :32:12.57 seconds. Ajee Wilson, didn't run well in Rome. The woman inside her,

:32:13. > :32:17.Lynsey Sharp. Took silver behind Marina Arzamasova, who also runs

:32:18. > :32:23.here, at the Europeans a couple of year ago. This is the woman to beat,

:32:24. > :32:32.Francine Niyonsaba. Semenya is not here, but she is setting the pace

:32:33. > :32:36.again this year. Melissa Bishop of Canada, the World silver-medallist

:32:37. > :32:40.behind Arzamasova. There is the World Champion from Beijing last

:32:41. > :32:43.year, from Belarus, European Champion in Zurich two years ago,

:32:44. > :33:06.Marina Arzamasova. Laura Roesler in Lane 2. Caster

:33:07. > :33:10.Semenya may not be here, but all the other leading contenders are. Look

:33:11. > :33:14.out for Arzamasova, Sharp outside her. What time can Arzamasova

:33:15. > :33:25.manage? We have seen the stadium come to life with performances on

:33:26. > :33:31.the track so far. A moment ago, Asbel Kiprop in the Men's 1500m.

:33:32. > :33:35.It's been difficult for Lynsey Sharp to get their head around racing

:33:36. > :33:39.Caster Semenya and Marina Arzamasova this year and the way Semenya has

:33:40. > :33:43.been controlling the races, only turning on the pace in the last 150

:33:44. > :33:47.metres. To be able to react to that and be prepared for that is

:33:48. > :33:52.different to the race that she will have today. We will have an idea how

:33:53. > :34:01.fast Arzamasova wants to go out when we go through the first lap. It

:34:02. > :34:04.looks like a decent pace. Just a glance behind from Arzamasova,

:34:05. > :34:18.nobody has been able to live with Caster Semenya this year. They take

:34:19. > :34:21.the bell. 56.79, and Sharp tucked in there with Roesler and Bishop. As

:34:22. > :34:25.she went through the bell, Arzamasova put her foot to the floor

:34:26. > :34:30.and daylight opened up. Lynsey Sharp was poised on her shoulder, ready to

:34:31. > :34:36.be able to react and go with it. But not able to and that gap is opening

:34:37. > :34:40.up. Melissa Bishop moving through. Lamote nudged her way past Ajee

:34:41. > :34:44.Wilson, the American is struggling again. That gap is holding at the

:34:45. > :34:49.moment. Melissa Bishop tries to maintain some contact and Lamote is

:34:50. > :34:52.making her way through, around the shoulder of Sharp, Arzamasova still

:34:53. > :35:03.driving hard. Bishop trying to hang on. Lynsey Sharp in fourth.

:35:04. > :35:13.Arzamasova is going to take the he -- Niyonsaba is going to take the

:35:14. > :35:17.race by some distance. Lamote takes a 1:56.94. It is a big season's best

:35:18. > :35:21.for her, just outside her personal best. If anybody can get close to

:35:22. > :35:29.Caster Semenya this year, it is Francine Niyonsaba. The rest a long

:35:30. > :35:35.way behind. Only one of them here today. Some distance clear of Lamote

:35:36. > :35:37.in second and Bishop was there, Lynsey Sharp, and Francine Niyonsaba

:35:38. > :35:42.controlled that from start to finish. She did. She got a chance to

:35:43. > :35:48.try out slightly different tactics as well when she raced Semenya in

:35:49. > :35:53.Rome. They left it until the final 150m and Semenya moved away from

:35:54. > :36:02.that. There she put her foot down at the bell and made sure that she ran

:36:03. > :36:08.hard over the last lap and was rewarded with the time. Melissa

:36:09. > :36:14.Bishop tied up quite a bit down the home straight having made up that

:36:15. > :36:17.ground over the middle 200m and Renelle Lamote, who has been racing

:36:18. > :36:22.well all year, was able to close fast. But not making any inroads on

:36:23. > :36:26.Niyonsaba. You know what is dangerous for some of these athletes

:36:27. > :36:29.who try to stay with Caster Semenya and Francine Niyonsaba, it is not

:36:30. > :36:34.going to happen. You almost have to run your own race and race for the

:36:35. > :36:38.minor medals. Caster Semenya and Francine Niyonsaba are going to win

:36:39. > :36:44.gold and silver in Rio. That is the kind of gap we have seen all season,

:36:45. > :36:51.and another meeting record goes here at the Alexander Stadium. Niyonsaba,

:36:52. > :36:56.a long way clear of the rest. Lynsey Sharp down in fourth place. The

:36:57. > :37:03.winner by a long way, Francine Niyonsaba.

:37:04. > :37:14.We have moved down to the start of the Women's 100m Hurdles. There is a

:37:15. > :37:18.woman who is setting this event alight this season. It is a loaded

:37:19. > :37:24.event, the strength in-depth is incredible, particularly of American

:37:25. > :37:27.hurdlers? Yes. Kendra Harrison looks like she is already pushing the

:37:28. > :37:33.world record? That is an understatement. She is phenomenal.

:37:34. > :37:38.I'm so pleased... She's popped over the hurdle there. She is so petite,

:37:39. > :37:45.so small. But packed full of power and that time of 12.24, which she

:37:46. > :37:51.set, is just the second fastest time of all time! Incredible. For me, it

:37:52. > :37:55.is interesting, I am looking forward to seeing her run here in the flesh.

:37:56. > :38:00.What she demonstrates here, look at the speed that she demonstrates

:38:01. > :38:05.here. She's to the left of our screen, she pushes off every single

:38:06. > :38:10.one of those barriers, works hard off them, and she is a little pocket

:38:11. > :38:14.rocket. She explodes off every single one of those barriers. For

:38:15. > :38:19.me, she has to be the favourite for the Olympic title. Tiny, but it is

:38:20. > :38:23.her flat speed that is phenomenal. Her hurdling technique is excellent.

:38:24. > :38:31.What is it in the American system, do they say, you are quick, but you

:38:32. > :38:36.will never win the Olympic gold for the 100m? They have a bit of history

:38:37. > :38:40.in the event. Lots of people enjoy being a hurdler. They love the fact

:38:41. > :38:45.you can be aggressive, smart, swift over these barriers and that is what

:38:46. > :38:48.they enjoy. Of course, competition. When you have heritage and

:38:49. > :38:54.competition, everyone loves to compete. This is a global event.

:38:55. > :38:57.Sally Pearson tells us that. She has had a couple of rough seasons,

:38:58. > :39:01.looking to get herself back to that Olympic best. It will be tough

:39:02. > :39:06.because the sport moves on. It doesn't wait for anybody. When Sally

:39:07. > :39:11.was on top of the game, she was running 12.3 as well. This is a

:39:12. > :39:15.different level now and for her coming back from injury, which she

:39:16. > :39:20.injured her wrist in Rome, nearly a year ago, and that has set her right

:39:21. > :39:23.back. We are wondering if that has affected her confidence. This is her

:39:24. > :39:27.first race in Europe. She will be nervous. She will also enjoy the

:39:28. > :39:31.competition. Sally is somebody who never shies away from it, even when

:39:32. > :39:37.she wasn't at her best, she would still mix with the top players.

:39:38. > :39:40.Tiffany Porter is an athlete who does mix it with the very best in

:39:41. > :39:45.the world. This is a very unpredictable event, as we saw in

:39:46. > :39:54.Beijing. Some of the leading women in the world didn't feature. She is

:39:55. > :39:57.so incredibly talented. She will be one of the people that we should

:39:58. > :40:02.expect to be a finalist in Rio. If she runs up to what she is capable

:40:03. > :40:06.of, she can sneak that medal. This field is absolutely loaded. Should

:40:07. > :40:11.be a fantastic race. Conditions are great. We are getting some really

:40:12. > :40:15.quick times, some world leads. Are we going to get another one. Andrew

:40:16. > :40:23.and Denise? It is a loading field. -- loaded

:40:24. > :40:29.field. It is the strongest field of the

:40:30. > :40:33.day. So much attention has been focussed on Kendra Harrison. There

:40:34. > :40:36.is Dawn Harper-Nelson, Olympic Champion from 2008. Diamond League

:40:37. > :40:43.winner a couple of years ago. Lightly raced this season. A bit out

:40:44. > :40:48.of sorts. Tiffany Porter, her younger sister has a quicker time

:40:49. > :40:53.this season, 12.66. The trial also be interesting. -- the trials will

:40:54. > :41:03.be interesting. A warm welcome for this woman. Sally Pearson, the

:41:04. > :41:12.reigning Olympic Champion. Kristi Castlin outside her. Fourth quickest

:41:13. > :41:23.in the world this year. And there is Kendra Harrison. She has the times.

:41:24. > :41:30.Brianna Rollins, World Champion from 2013. She was superb that season.

:41:31. > :41:38.Nia Ali, winner of the last two indoor titles. Managed to start a

:41:39. > :41:41.family in between those. There is Lucy Hatton. Great progress

:41:42. > :42:05.last year down to 12.84. Fascinating to watch Pearson here.

:42:06. > :42:10.Her comeback race. The psychology of racing, testing herself here in a

:42:11. > :42:17.chaotic race is very different to testing behind doors.

:42:18. > :42:25.Kendra Harrison goes in Lane 6. Brianna Rollins outside her in Lane

:42:26. > :42:32.7. Nia Ali and Lucy Hatton nearest to us there.

:42:33. > :42:37.Near silence inside the Alexander Stadium. This is a wonderful line-up

:42:38. > :42:54.in the Women's 100m Hurdles. There was a twitch there. Brianna

:42:55. > :42:57.Rollins got away, Sally Pearson, and now Harrison moving through and

:42:58. > :43:01.Harrison alongside Rollins and it is Kendra Harrison moving clear, a long

:43:02. > :43:08.way clear, what does the clock say? 12.47. Another meeting record. Ahead

:43:09. > :43:14.of Brianna Rollins. Into a slight head wind. Good conditions for

:43:15. > :43:17.hurdling. 12.46 now, a meeting record for Kendra Harrison. She goes

:43:18. > :43:24.from strength to strength. She wins again. She is the woman to beat in

:43:25. > :43:27.sprint hurdling this season. 12.46. I thought they were going to be

:43:28. > :43:33.called back for a moment. Brianna Rollins was twitching in her block,

:43:34. > :43:46.Denise. A well deserved win. Completely agree with you. Brianna

:43:47. > :43:53.Rollins in Lane 7 twitched on the block. A fantastic race between

:43:54. > :43:56.those two, but the woman, the in-form woman, Kendra Harrison, she

:43:57. > :44:03.is so quick out of the blocks. Rollins wanted to be up on her. As

:44:04. > :44:07.Colin pointed out, she is a beautiful hurdler. She attacks every

:44:08. > :44:13.single barrier. Gets the advantage early. And there is no stopping her

:44:14. > :44:17.from that point onwards. Sally Pearson started not too badly but

:44:18. > :44:21.she faded towards the end. She's had to compromise her start. Because of

:44:22. > :44:25.that wrist injury. She's having to change her starting position, she is

:44:26. > :44:31.on her knuckles, but you see, she is heavily strapped on that hamstring.

:44:32. > :44:37.Really struggling there with the pace and competitiveness of this

:44:38. > :44:42.Women's 100m Hurdles. One thing to say of the start, there was a lot of

:44:43. > :44:50.upper body movement from Brianna Rollins. Her reaction time was

:44:51. > :44:54.0.144. Once they did get going - and we saw Rollins shaking her head at

:44:55. > :44:58.the end - she couldn't live with Harrison. Kendra Harrison another

:44:59. > :45:02.victory, another Diamond League win, 12.46, a meeting record as well.

:45:03. > :45:09.Outstanding run from Kendra Harrison.

:45:10. > :45:16.Here is the main man, Greg Rutherford. World Champion to add to

:45:17. > :45:23.his Olympic, Commonwealth and European first round. The lead is

:45:24. > :45:35.8.17. Well, that is a big jump from Greg! The yellow line denotes that

:45:36. > :45:41.lead of Hartfield, 8.17m. Perfect conditions here for long jump. The

:45:42. > :46:18.wind is slightly in favour on the backs of the jumpers.

:46:19. > :46:25.Shares the lead with heartfelt. One of the slowest reaction times in the

:46:26. > :46:32.field for the winner. Meeting record. What a start to the season

:46:33. > :46:35.it has been and to set the record here on top of what you have already

:46:36. > :46:45.been able to achieve, you must be thrilled. Clay I am really excited

:46:46. > :46:50.to make the Olympic team. We know the pressure is on in America to get

:46:51. > :46:57.top three in the trials that you must be full of confidence. Each

:46:58. > :47:02.race I do I get more confident. It is wonderful hardest teams to make,

:47:03. > :47:08.so that it is one of my number one goals, just worrying about getting

:47:09. > :47:12.to the line first. Thanks for talking to us. Saili has been

:47:13. > :47:17.waiting patiently, Olympic champion, I know you are not used to in this

:47:18. > :47:26.position, but this is the comeback trail after that injury last year.

:47:27. > :47:32.How are you? Pretty good in my body, a few things going on but that is an

:47:33. > :47:39.athlete. I was not running 100%, Godinet skews, I just wanted to be

:47:40. > :47:42.out there. I wanted to risk not getting a great time. It is so nice

:47:43. > :47:48.being back in a competitive environment. It is just taking one

:47:49. > :47:53.race at a time. I have five in two weeks so this is the first of many.

:47:54. > :47:57.I will do some work at home and then come back to Europe and keep racing.

:47:58. > :48:02.I am not disappointed, it is not nice seeing 13 seconds in front of

:48:03. > :48:08.your name but this is my first real race in just over a year so I cannot

:48:09. > :48:14.complain. We know what a great champion you are and memories of

:48:15. > :48:18.2012. Of course, we always want to go out wanting to win but some days

:48:19. > :48:22.it is not your day. I want to make sure I can do everything I can to be

:48:23. > :48:33.at my best for the Olympics. Break to see you back. -- great. Next on

:48:34. > :48:37.the track the women's 5000 metres. Commonwealth champion and world

:48:38. > :48:56.silver-medallist and this distance. It is becoming last chance for Jo

:48:57. > :49:04.Pavey. She needs a good performance today. Probably won't get to Rio in

:49:05. > :49:11.the 10,000 but she could make the 5,000-metre team. This year we

:49:12. > :49:15.already have three who have the qualifying time. Jess Andrews is the

:49:16. > :49:27.one who at the 10,000 metre trials last month ran the qualifying time.

:49:28. > :49:39.Lacaze is a steeplechaser now going on the

:49:40. > :49:43.flat here. Cheruiyot in the all blue will be up there with Cherono, I am

:49:44. > :49:56.sure. It will not be world record pace this afternoon. Cheruiyot and

:49:57. > :50:01.Cherono have asked for the pace of around 45. If you want to get under

:50:02. > :50:05.15 metres, Steph Twell did that in Rome the other night, this is an

:50:06. > :50:14.opportunity. Let's talk about Jo Pavey and then maybe Jess Andrews.

:50:15. > :50:18.That performance, Paula, over 10,000 metres, 90 seconds off her best, it

:50:19. > :50:22.was really encouraging to see somebody new coming through and

:50:23. > :50:26.doing well in the 10,000 metre trials. It was the way she raced,

:50:27. > :50:33.the way she committed to the race and ran in the closing stages I

:50:34. > :50:37.think faster and ran a personal best for the last 3000 metres. Went

:50:38. > :50:44.through 5000 metres faster than her personal best, taking a huge step

:50:45. > :50:49.forward this year. She was making up ground, able to reel her in and win

:50:50. > :50:53.the race and book a place in Rio. That will have given her a huge

:50:54. > :50:57.boost in confidence to know she is in shape and to go out and Bracewell

:50:58. > :51:06.and now to put them here maybe not fully recovered but certainly

:51:07. > :51:16.capable of running the personal best. Interesting to see how quickly

:51:17. > :51:22.they go here. Cherry or not interested in going with the

:51:23. > :51:31.pacemaker. Fairly sedate. -- Cheruiyot. Men's long jump, second

:51:32. > :51:38.round, that jump from Mike Hartfield of the United States shares the lead

:51:39. > :51:46.with Greg Rutherford. Hartfield, can he take the lead on his own? He can,

:51:47. > :51:59.beyond 8.17. The Gifford from Hartfield, seasons best of 8.30

:52:00. > :52:03.four. Best effort. -- big effort. Come to Birmingham on a mission.

:52:04. > :52:12.Giving Greg Rutherford something to think about. As we wait for the

:52:13. > :52:18.measurement. Mike Hartfield. 8.29, he takes the lead. Rutherford

:52:19. > :52:40.looking to respond. He has just seen another American,

:52:41. > :52:46.go to 8.42, Rutherford suddenly in third place. He rotated on the

:52:47. > :53:05.board. Good on the approach, was really going. Really going for that.

:53:06. > :53:09.The long jump has come alive of the two Americans. Fighting his core

:53:10. > :53:14.strength but not enough to hold the position. Really shaping up to be a

:53:15. > :53:21.great competition. Rutherford is late capable but he will have two

:53:22. > :53:26.produce something special. Let's have a look at what happened just

:53:27. > :53:35.before that, MarQueis Gray -- Marquise Goodwin a wide receiver for

:53:36. > :53:41.the Buffalo Bills. Long jumping is a part-time job. He came fourth in the

:53:42. > :53:51.American trials last year. Big effort, he is the world leader,

:53:52. > :53:55.Marquise Goodwin with 8.45. Has not quite bettered that but got close to

:53:56. > :54:00.it and given Greg Rutherford something very serious to think

:54:01. > :54:03.about. 8.42 for the American. He takes the lead in the second round,

:54:04. > :54:20.brilliant hitch kick. More excitement in the long jump

:54:21. > :54:28.than in the 5000 metres because the pace make was asked to go out for

:54:29. > :54:33.below three minutes for the first kilometre bird the others were six

:54:34. > :54:38.seconds behind. Very pedestrian 3.06, the first kilometre, that is

:54:39. > :54:43.good for the pack but they have to start picking it up from there.

:54:44. > :54:48.Olympic qualifying 15.24, they have to get this moving. It is

:54:49. > :54:52.interesting that the back obvious that Cherono and Cheruiyot are not

:54:53. > :54:58.interested. Very obvious nobody interested in going for that time.

:54:59. > :55:05.Mercy Cherono was running hard in Rome and probably quite happy to

:55:06. > :55:11.have a gentle run round. It was left to the Polish athlete, who obviously

:55:12. > :55:15.has an eye on the qualifying time. They will be winning in this race

:55:16. > :55:27.who need to start committing and working together to try to get close

:55:28. > :55:40.to the pace. Janet Kisa now starting to lead the pack. Sarah Tracy has

:55:41. > :55:46.done her job but to be fair she just had a long run out. Janet Kisa

:55:47. > :56:02.leading the pack. Cherono in second and Cheruiyot close by but they are

:56:03. > :56:07.bunched up here. Robbie Grabarz, world indoor silver-medallist, in

:56:08. > :56:16.the shape of his life. Two fouls, his best so far 2.29, now at 2.30

:56:17. > :56:23.five. He has got to get over this, no. 2.3 too much for Robbie Grabarz.

:56:24. > :56:40.He is in good shape. Two he is back in the Konta form as he

:56:41. > :56:50.was in 2012 after some injury. The man who finished just ahead, silver

:56:51. > :56:59.medal in London 2012, first attempt at 2.35. That is a brilliant

:57:00. > :57:11.performance, he is immensely consistent, the American. His

:57:12. > :57:18.event continues. Erik Kynard out in the lead with this effort. Yes.

:57:19. > :57:38.Great jump. Arguably the most talented of them

:57:39. > :57:52.all. This now looking to match that night we just saw from Eric Kennard.

:57:53. > :57:59.Barshim skips in. Yes! Barshim sorting out the technical issues,

:58:00. > :58:07.slight niggles he has had. Look at that, three first time fouls but

:58:08. > :58:07.second time clearances. Congratulations from the world

:58:08. > :58:26.indoor champion can can . He talked about threatening the

:58:27. > :58:32.world record from Sotomayor. This race finally starting to get moving.

:58:33. > :58:39.That has not helped the non-African runners in some sense. Mercy Cherono

:58:40. > :58:49.picking it up a little bit. Cherry at, Janet Kisa guy with her. Jo

:58:50. > :58:57.Pavey trying to keep the pack moving. Going to be a difficult race

:58:58. > :59:02.because they are outside 15 point 30 pace, the main pack. The others at

:59:03. > :59:06.the front could pick it up but difficult for those at the front.

:59:07. > :59:10.Trying to run a qualifying time then you want to be banning evenly and

:59:11. > :59:25.slowing down as much as they did through the 80 second laps is

:59:26. > :59:30.difficult. 70 seconds from Cherono, that should not have done the damage

:59:31. > :59:34.that it should have done, but it was the change in pace that did the

:59:35. > :59:40.damage. The only people able to react immediately were the likes of

:59:41. > :59:53.Janet Kisa and Cheruiyot. Lacaze working hard to come back in the

:59:54. > :00:07.closing stages. Back to the high jump. 24 euros from Qatar. He has

:00:08. > :00:14.jumped 2.43 in the past. He has got it! His second attempt again,

:00:15. > :00:18.Barshim loves that. He has surpassed his season 's best. Comfortably. His

:00:19. > :00:32.best so far this year was 2.27. He is so capable when he gets it

:00:33. > :00:38.right. And, boy, has he done that there! Big celebration. We don't

:00:39. > :00:44.often see that from him. Great jump. 2.37m.

:00:45. > :01:00.A nice big group here now with the Australians managing to get on to

:01:01. > :01:04.this lead pack, Eloise Wellings and Lacaze, following with Tesfaye, and

:01:05. > :01:14.then the three Kenyans. There have been a lot of hard races, so maybe a

:01:15. > :01:17.chance for two or three, including Cherono and Cheruiyot to test their

:01:18. > :01:24.pace, if you like. It is slowing right down again. And Jo Pavey, in

:01:25. > :01:29.the chasing group, getting closer. There is Jo Pavey, working hard to

:01:30. > :01:33.try and bring herself back to this group. You can see how hard Jo is

:01:34. > :01:46.working. She's tried to go with this. She's worked hard. You can see

:01:47. > :01:52.Eloise Wellings, she knows she doesn't have the pace of Cherono,

:01:53. > :02:05.Cheruiyot. Wellings has had a winter and a

:02:06. > :02:12.spring on the road. A new personal best in the half-marathon distance.

:02:13. > :02:16.Her first big track race of the year. She did make the final in

:02:17. > :02:20.Beijing last year. Lacaze, at the back of the group, but it is

:02:21. > :02:33.Wellings who decides to try and push on and a slower kilometre there,

:02:34. > :02:36.3:08.00. So Wellings leads, Cherono, Cheruiyot, Kisa, Tesfaye, Lacaze, a

:02:37. > :02:41.long way ahead of the chasing group and Jo Pavey is starting to

:02:42. > :02:46.struggle, about 40 metres behind this leading group. I think Jo has

:02:47. > :02:55.not had the winter she would have liked coming into this track season.

:02:56. > :03:03.She didn't run as well as she would have wanted in the 10000m trial.

:03:04. > :03:07.Jessica Andrews has her in her sights. She looks as though she's

:03:08. > :03:18.got more left at this stage of the race than Jo has now. Cherono

:03:19. > :03:24.picking up a little bit. Lacaze looks like she will have to work

:03:25. > :03:27.hard to hold on to this. Three Kenyans, two Australians. Lacaze -

:03:28. > :03:32.when you see the head go back like that, you feel the pace picking up.

:03:33. > :03:37.Wellings will feel it as well. Cherono - it is interesting because

:03:38. > :03:40.Cherono can finish fairly quickly. Cheruiyot in her day was a really

:03:41. > :03:48.good finisher. Had a year or so, more than a year out to have a baby.

:03:49. > :03:52.Getting better last year and started to look better this year. So far,

:03:53. > :04:05.Cherono has had the better of her. So far, Cherono has been

:04:06. > :04:17.the person finishing behind Ayana. You can see when she eases ahead,

:04:18. > :04:23.Cherono is able to respond to that. That is one thing she is doing,

:04:24. > :04:32.trying to ease her compatriot Cherono out, who tried to go back

:04:33. > :04:36.Cheruiyot. Janet Kisa can never kick with these two, so Cherono and

:04:37. > :04:43.Cheruiyot, into the home straight, Cheruiyot might have another bite at

:04:44. > :04:49.this one. The crowd enjoying this. Cherono has just about got it, or

:04:50. > :04:57.has she? It could be very tight on the line. Cheruiyot gets it! Cherono

:04:58. > :05:01.second. Kisa will get third. Tesfaye will be fourth, Eloise Wellings will

:05:02. > :05:06.win the battle of the Australians for fifth and sixth. And then a long

:05:07. > :05:10.way, a big gap is appearing behind them after that. What a sprint

:05:11. > :05:19.finish there. Really looked as though Cherono had done the hard

:05:20. > :05:24.work, and a pretty fast last lap. A fighting win from Cheruiyot. Yes,

:05:25. > :05:29.she had to fight for that. She tried to go ahead at the bell, wasn't able

:05:30. > :05:38.to get far enough ahead to get on the inside line so she still ran a

:05:39. > :05:49.59.72 last lap. Her pace is coming back. I can tell you that in another

:05:50. > :05:53.sprint finish, Jessica Andrews outkicked a very tired Jo Pavey at

:05:54. > :05:56.the end there. I don't think either of them would have enjoyed today's

:05:57. > :06:01.race too much. Cherono, not enough in the end. It was a long, sustained

:06:02. > :06:06.kick that did for her, I think. Cheruiyot, look at this. She's

:06:07. > :06:07.always been a great competitor. And that is what got her across the line

:06:08. > :06:32.first. Still to come:

:06:33. > :06:41.More stars on show. The Women's 100m final gets under way. David Rudisha

:06:42. > :06:52.is the star turn in the 600m and Mo Farah in the Men's 3000m.

:06:53. > :07:02.Greg Rutherford in the third round of the long jump.

:07:03. > :07:10.He rotated forward. That won't be enough. He knows it. Only the top

:07:11. > :07:14.four make the final three jumps of the competition. It is a new rule to

:07:15. > :07:20.be introduced this year. He said he didn't like it. He's got a good

:07:21. > :07:26.reason to dislike it. He's out. Way behind the board here. That would

:07:27. > :07:33.add to the forward rotation. And lose distance. It is a jump that

:07:34. > :07:38.looks in excess of 8m, but currently fourth place. So Greg Rutherford's

:07:39. > :07:49.work in the Alexander Stadium is over.

:07:50. > :07:56.Erik Kynard - this would be a lifetime best to stay involved in

:07:57. > :08:05.the competition. No. 2 .40m was too much.

:08:06. > :08:12.His best was 2.35m this afternoon. Great jumping from him. The

:08:13. > :08:23.conditions are perfect for high jumping. Congratulations all round.

:08:24. > :08:31.Next on the track is the Men's 400m. We are staying on the Red Button

:08:32. > :08:36.afterwards for a forum, have a bit of a chat. We dissect some of these

:08:37. > :08:45.great performances that we are seeing here in Birmingham this

:08:46. > :08:51.afternoon. And what does Kirani James have in store for us here?

:08:52. > :08:58.It's been an afternoon of some big performances, in the field as well

:08:59. > :09:02.now. So Kirani James, one of the world's big athletics stars, getting

:09:03. > :09:19.ready to go. One or two names popping up in the 400m. Of course,

:09:20. > :09:23.we have youngsters here. Jarryd Dunn going. Baboloki Thebe is 19, he's

:09:24. > :09:39.thrust himself right to the fore. There's Jarryd Dunn, wanting to get

:09:40. > :09:44.on to this British team. Only - 46.16 so far this year. He's in Lane

:09:45. > :09:52.1. Won't be easy from there. He will have this exciting young talent,

:09:53. > :10:00.he's getting to know the 400m and he's run 44.22 back in Botswana and

:10:01. > :10:06.they have a great relay squad. Rabah Yousif won in Dhaka. Ran on Friday

:10:07. > :10:12.night in Spain as well. Vernon Norwood, the American indoor

:10:13. > :10:16.champion this year. Had a really excellent 2015. Hasn't run quite as

:10:17. > :10:32.fast as that outdoors yet. Kirani James then. The Olympic Champion.

:10:33. > :10:38.And he's been chasing or beating Merritt.

:10:39. > :10:48.Bralon Taplin. Isaac Makwala, part of this resurgence of Botswana and

:10:49. > :10:53.Makwala, the best-known of the 400m runners, getting back to some good

:10:54. > :10:56.form. Talking about getting back, great to see Matthew Hudson-Smith, a

:10:57. > :11:06.local boy, great to see him back running. A stress fracture,

:11:07. > :11:13.hamstring last year. Ran in Germany recently, 46.14. Surely ready to go

:11:14. > :11:25.quicker. I know he's so excited to be back and, of course, when you go

:11:26. > :11:32.back to comn -- Commonwealth year, and he is still only 21. Kirani

:11:33. > :11:35.James is in Lane 5. Taplin is outside him. Watch in Lane 2 for

:11:36. > :11:50.Baboloki Thebe of Botswana. Let's see who attacks this first

:11:51. > :11:53.200m. Indeed, Lane 2, the 19-year-old, Thebe has gone out very

:11:54. > :12:00.quickly, up on Rabah Yousif and going quick is Isaac Makwala of

:12:01. > :12:05.Botswana. Kirani James running down his team-mate, he's in Lane 5. So

:12:06. > :12:12.Kirani James around that top bend going well, and easing himself into

:12:13. > :12:17.the lead here. Taplin starting to move through, Thebe on the inside,

:12:18. > :12:22.Makwala still there. But Kirani James with a lot of company here,

:12:23. > :12:30.now starting to pull away. Makwala moves into second place, Kirani

:12:31. > :12:40.James wins it! Then Makwala. Then Norwood and then Hudson-Smith. Well,

:12:41. > :12:45.44.23, that will be a meeting record for Kirani James. Very much business

:12:46. > :12:50.as usual for him and others tried to go with him. And I think the most

:12:51. > :12:52.pleasing thing perhaps from a British perspective in particular

:12:53. > :12:57.was to see Matthew Hudson-Smith finish so strongly. Difficult in

:12:58. > :13:02.Lane 8 to judge your race. He came through very quick, just waiting for

:13:03. > :13:09.the times. It will be low 45s. There he is. Well, that is a really good

:13:10. > :13:12.indicator, smiles because he's just seen 45.13. Perhaps the most

:13:13. > :13:16.encouraging British performance of the day bearing in mind all the

:13:17. > :13:24.things he's been through with injury. He's timed it well. He looks

:13:25. > :13:27.a bit ragged occasionally but beautiful power in the end from

:13:28. > :13:32.Matthew Hudson-Smith. Baboloki Thebe was treading water. He went out so

:13:33. > :13:37.quickly. Look at Hudson-Smith, a strong victory from Kirani James.

:13:38. > :13:41.That is a very good run and all goes well for Matthew Hudson-Smith with

:13:42. > :13:48.time to go. Again, the ground he's made up here, I thought with his

:13:49. > :13:50.injuries, with his hamstring problems, his lower-back stress

:13:51. > :13:55.fracture, all those problems, he is still such a bright talent. Kirani

:13:56. > :14:03.James, another meeting record has gone.

:14:04. > :14:12.44.23, a meeting record for Kirani James. Makwala, under 45 seconds.

:14:13. > :14:15.Matthew Hudson-Smith, a really good run from him, 45.13 out of Lane 8.

:14:16. > :14:26.Yousif, also a season's best. There's Greg Rutherford. His

:14:27. > :14:30.competition is over. He's in fifth place. Only the top four make it to

:14:31. > :14:36.the final three. He's appreciative of the support from the home crowd.

:14:37. > :14:41.That is a disappointment for Greg. Uncharacteristic, he missed the

:14:42. > :14:53.board, he forward rotated. It was a scruffy performance. His best -

:14:54. > :14:56.8.17m. The other end of the stadium, though, Mutaz Essa Barshim has

:14:57. > :14:59.already won the high jump. The bar has been raised to 2.44m. This will

:15:00. > :15:09.be a lifetime best. Nowhere near. I think you just

:15:10. > :15:20.wanted to see what that would feel like. That meant he just. He has

:15:21. > :15:30.jumped really well this afternoon. 2.37 in Olympic year, great

:15:31. > :15:33.performance from Mutaz Essa Barshim. Great high jump competition but

:15:34. > :15:41.let's talk ahead of the 200 metres about the British man who is setting

:15:42. > :15:47.a blistering pace in this event. It might not trip off your time, we are

:15:48. > :15:55.having trouble getting our heads around it. Tell us what you know

:15:56. > :16:03.about him. Came to the fore recently. British athlete, lives and

:16:04. > :16:08.trains in America. This is from the NCAA recently. The footage not great

:16:09. > :16:15.but you can see him at the end of the race, running under 20 seconds,

:16:16. > :16:23.faster than Adam Gemili has ever done. Very long stride length. I

:16:24. > :16:28.will be intrigued to see what he does up against the other

:16:29. > :16:34.world-class athletes and you can see how much it meant to him making the

:16:35. > :16:40.breakthrough. 19.95 is quicker than 2 million has gone and we have

:16:41. > :16:43.strength in depth. We have and James Ellington also setting a new

:16:44. > :16:48.personal best this year. Does not compare to this right now but it

:16:49. > :16:54.gives them something to think about. It will be competitive on the they

:16:55. > :17:02.are fighting for vital places, it will be cracking. And some of these

:17:03. > :17:05.guys will be hoping to be in the finals in Rio bid for the moment

:17:06. > :17:09.they want Diamond League points. Andrew Cotter commentating.

:17:10. > :17:23.COMMENTATOR: The good line up here again. Amir where the leading

:17:24. > :17:26.diamond race at the moment. Alonso Edward in Lane 5. James Ellington

:17:27. > :17:50.just outside the young Canadian Andre de Grasse made

:17:51. > :17:56.great strides last season, he ran 19.88 into Rondo in July. Martina

:17:57. > :18:05.was the first. In the 100 metres earlier today. Slightly stronger 200

:18:06. > :18:14.metres. Alonso Edward, took silver behind Usain Bolt in Berlin in the

:18:15. > :18:20.World Championships in 2009. This is Amir Web, overall he has set a

:18:21. > :18:27.personal best this year. 19.85 in the 208 is. Isaiah Young had an

:18:28. > :18:35.outing in the 130 wasn't quite expecting. -- in the hundred, that

:18:36. > :18:41.he wasn't quite expecting. Sean Maguire

:18:42. > :18:55.CJ Ujah on the inside. Close to victory in the 100 metres. Close to

:18:56. > :18:59.a PB in the 200 metres this season. With a better field and good

:19:00. > :19:08.conditions here you would hope he could go lower than 20.48. In decent

:19:09. > :19:17.form after his 100 earlier. Track record might be under threat here,

:19:18. > :19:25.not the strongest, 20.12 from 2012. Amir Web in Lane 4, the American, he

:19:26. > :19:27.might be the man to beat. Alonso Edward closer to him in the diamond

:19:28. > :19:47.race. Cleanly away. CJ Ujah on the inside

:19:48. > :19:54.trying to keep pace. With sure McClain, who has gone off quickly.

:19:55. > :19:56.James Ellington on the outside. The grass coming through strongly

:19:57. > :20:08.armament. Alonso Edward leading them home. The grass just gets it on the

:20:09. > :20:12.line. We talked about the talent of Andre de Grasse, has not quite done

:20:13. > :20:23.that this season, the time as being rounded down to 20.16. Ameer Webb

:20:24. > :20:29.was not there today, the man leading the diamond race. Andre de Grasse

:20:30. > :20:36.comes through to take a season 's best time ahead of Alonso Edward.

:20:37. > :20:40.Great run by the young Canadian. Nice to see de Grasse take that

:20:41. > :20:44.victory because most of the time when he is on the circuit he is up

:20:45. > :20:48.against the big names and we always wondering what he is capable of but

:20:49. > :20:52.on the outside he worked nicely around the bend. It is blustery

:20:53. > :20:56.round there and the athletes will struggle but coming down the home

:20:57. > :21:01.straight when you have that wind into your face you can really focus

:21:02. > :21:04.on what you need to do and he calls himself asked his opponents to take

:21:05. > :21:12.the victory. Solid performance and I think he will be very happy indeed

:21:13. > :21:14.especially into the wind. Good run initially by Sean McClean, who was

:21:15. > :21:24.leading round the bend. Then Edward and the grass took over. It was into

:21:25. > :21:29.that headwind in the home straight, hard work down there but the grass

:21:30. > :21:35.with all of that talent, he comes through to take the victory. And

:21:36. > :21:41.looking down for CJ Ujah and James Ellington, they were left behind.

:21:42. > :21:47.What I like about the grass, this is his favourite distance. He might not

:21:48. > :21:53.like it but it suits his style. He already has the bronze medal. He

:21:54. > :22:00.will be working harder hoping to seek a little bit more speed to take

:22:01. > :22:05.him under 20 seconds more regularly. Just leaning back a little bit, the

:22:06. > :22:19.grass takes it with a season 's best. Just ahead of Alonso Edward.

:22:20. > :22:37.Very final stages of this brilliant long jump. Hartfield in second

:22:38. > :22:52.place. Big effort again for Hartfield. Rutherford down in fifth

:22:53. > :22:56.place. Hartfield has a good scalp. Rutherford beat him for the first

:22:57. > :23:01.time in nearly a year. Hartfield looks as though he has settled for

:23:02. > :23:05.second place. Goodwin is already in the lead. We will have to keep an

:23:06. > :23:27.eye on him in Rio. Mike Hartfield Afoa in the last round from Goodwin,

:23:28. > :23:32.8.42, his second best, the second best jump of the year. Greg

:23:33. > :23:44.Rutherford, his winning streak is over.

:23:45. > :23:50.You cannot pause for breath, so many great events, three British athletes

:23:51. > :24:07.in the 100-metre final. Contrasting qualifying, the first

:24:08. > :24:12.heat into a tough headwind and the second one was more benign. Actually

:24:13. > :24:18.slide following wind. Simone Facey managing to come through as a

:24:19. > :24:27.fastest loser. Dina Asher-Smith also with a very quick time, equal fourth

:24:28. > :24:38.fastest ever, in London she ran 10.99. Shippers, world champion at

:24:39. > :24:46.200 metres. Ashleigh Nelson the superb chasing shippers: in the

:24:47. > :24:53.heat. It wasn't a quick time. She looks in great shape. Bartoletta,

:24:54. > :25:09.world champion in the long jump in Beijing last year. World-class

:25:10. > :25:17.sprinter as well. As is Gardner, ran well in Rome on Thursday night. Ahye

:25:18. > :25:24.from Trinidad and Tobago, fast start. And then Henry finished

:25:25. > :25:33.quickly in her heat as well. Making it through. Great to see three

:25:34. > :25:38.British women in this. As I said earlier we have already had so many

:25:39. > :25:56.sprinters performing well this year, men and women.

:25:57. > :26:10.She does not get a good start, Asher-Smith going well alongside

:26:11. > :26:15.her. English gunner trying to get back on terms. English garden are

:26:16. > :26:25.going to win this, easy in the end. -- English Gardner. We were talking

:26:26. > :26:32.about the other women, Tory Bowery, Thompson, but Gardner, the one

:26:33. > :26:35.question I always have about her, Schippers produces a big performance

:26:36. > :26:43.on the big day and sometimes Gardner does not do that. She flattered to

:26:44. > :26:50.deceive in terms of the big times. But a good win today. Sometimes that

:26:51. > :26:58.is a problem for US athletes because there trials are so important. She

:26:59. > :27:06.puts down some great times but she is back today battling into that

:27:07. > :27:10.very strong wind. Another look at this, Schippers never the best out

:27:11. > :27:17.of the box. Asher-Smith finished well in the end. This is something

:27:18. > :27:22.Schippers has been working on. She cannot give these girls that are

:27:23. > :27:29.running below 11 seconds that kind of distance. She has to work so hard

:27:30. > :27:34.in the latter part of the race, even though it tends to be the better

:27:35. > :27:42.part of her race. I still think she is a better 200-metre runner. Dina

:27:43. > :27:46.is great out of the box, the pressure off after her exams.

:27:47. > :27:53.Dutiful runner, trying to stay the night while Schippers takes over. --

:27:54. > :27:57.trying to stay relaxed. But good running by all the girls. So

:27:58. > :28:01.important to keep focused on your name. Don't pay attention to what is

:28:02. > :28:07.going on around you. English Gardner, such a powerful runner. Not

:28:08. > :28:17.textbook running but what she does with her feet, Goodwin from her.

:28:18. > :28:24.Three stars of the show with me, I know you are disappointed with that

:28:25. > :28:30.start. I made three mistakes in this, very bad race. But I think I'm

:28:31. > :28:36.in shape and I can run faster than theirs. Just the frustration about

:28:37. > :28:42.the start. It was a huge year but so much more to come. Yes, but I

:28:43. > :28:47.focused on my race and it was not a good race. What is next? Oslo next

:28:48. > :29:00.week. We wish you well for that. Dafne disappointed, English, you are

:29:01. > :29:03.the opposite I expect. I was very excited to work on everything I

:29:04. > :29:09.didn't do it my last race. Running into the headwind is the Beast today

:29:10. > :29:13.so it was exciting to get out there. To compete with those great ladies.

:29:14. > :29:19.You have so many in the United States, just how tough is it to make

:29:20. > :29:26.the team. The USA is the hardest team to make. Last time we went to

:29:27. > :29:31.the World Championship and I had to run quicker than 11 seconds in every

:29:32. > :29:39.round. 10.7, 10.6. It will be exciting. And we'll bring in the

:29:40. > :29:44.star of the British show, saving the best of British till last, how are

:29:45. > :29:48.you today, how did you feel? I felt really good today which the main

:29:49. > :29:53.thing about today was the confidence boost. Only my second race of the

:29:54. > :29:58.season, not being able to do the final in Portland in Olympic year is

:29:59. > :30:02.not great. So I wanted to come out here and see how I am against the

:30:03. > :30:07.best in the world and I was really happy with how I raced today. There

:30:08. > :30:12.are bits I can work on, I can focus on relaxing at the end but race

:30:13. > :30:17.against people like them, I am really happy I was able to put in a

:30:18. > :30:22.solid performance. You only just finished your exams, now you can

:30:23. > :30:27.concentrate on the athletics. My last exam was on Thursday, I was

:30:28. > :30:31.watching the clock hoping for it to end but I'm happy University is over

:30:32. > :30:40.for the year and the sun is out just in time as well.

:30:41. > :30:58.There's the result. English Gardner, 11.02. We might have seen some good

:30:59. > :31:03.times except the headwind. Two months out from the opening ceremony

:31:04. > :31:07.of the Rio Olympics, Lord Sebastian Coe has joined us. The reason I

:31:08. > :31:10.mention that is because I want us to clarify the time-frame now for the

:31:11. > :31:15.decision on the Russian athletes and whether or not they will appear in

:31:16. > :31:29.that programme in Rio? We have a Council meeting in Vienna on June

:31:30. > :31:33.17th. We will come back and report to the Council, 27-strong Council,

:31:34. > :31:38.men and women, and we will wait for their recommendations. What do you

:31:39. > :31:42.think the best decision? I don't know. We have set a very clear

:31:43. > :31:48.criteria. There is no subjectivity about it. The criteria is objective.

:31:49. > :31:54.It is to deal with the anti-doping violations and the incursions into

:31:55. > :31:57.the ethics code as well. I'm not going to maintain a running

:31:58. > :32:02.commentary on it. There will be people who object both ways? Of

:32:03. > :32:07.course. And from all four corners of the argument, people will take a

:32:08. > :32:16.different view on that. The very nature of an independent task force

:32:17. > :32:24.was a very, very important process to follow. And the view that the

:32:25. > :32:29.task force takes will colour the decision that our Council will make.

:32:30. > :32:32.It seems - and Steve Cram said this at the beginning of the programme -

:32:33. > :32:38.this year and next are hugely pivotal, hugely important in the

:32:39. > :32:44.future of your sport? Yes. The objective of any international

:32:45. > :32:49.federation is not the rights of those who have cheated, it is to

:32:50. > :32:55.protect the rights of the clean athletes. The criteria was carefully

:32:56. > :32:59.set to create a structure that we are comfortable, we are sure that

:33:00. > :33:04.athletes are able to compete and compete fairly and openly and the

:33:05. > :33:08.half their young lives they devote to their sport is met with fair and

:33:09. > :33:15.open competition. That has to be our only objective now. From a purely

:33:16. > :33:20.athletics fan, what you have seen so far this year, it feels everything

:33:21. > :33:25.ramps up, what has delighted you so far? I was in Portland at the World

:33:26. > :33:28.Indoor Championships, that was the best Championships we have had. I

:33:29. > :33:33.was in Cardiff a few days later watching probably one of the best

:33:34. > :33:36.pieces of distance running on British roads I have seen in a long

:33:37. > :33:40.time. There is a big appetite out there for our sport. We have been

:33:41. > :33:46.through some challenging times, but this is a good example today of why

:33:47. > :33:54.the sport is still a very, very attractive sport. And you are right,

:33:55. > :33:59.in an Olympic year, there is added importance. The last interviews with

:34:00. > :34:03.the 100m girls sum up an Olympic year. There is Dafne Schippers, who

:34:04. > :34:07.is not running in the form she is capable of, Dina Asher-Smith, with

:34:08. > :34:11.only one race under her belt, English Gardner who is running... It

:34:12. > :34:15.will be an interesting two months... And they have to go through the

:34:16. > :34:20.trials. Before Mo Farah comes up shortly, I hope you will stay with

:34:21. > :34:29.us... I will. One of your moments of the year, David Rudisha has taken to

:34:30. > :34:32.the track for the 600m. Steve and Andrew?

:34:33. > :34:38.Seb will be disappointed to know he is second on the all-time list in

:34:39. > :34:44.this distance behind Steve Cram! We saw Rudisha there. Some good

:34:45. > :34:55.Australian athletes coming through, Luke Mathews one of those. Erik

:34:56. > :35:00.Sowinski, the American. Had a good win over 800m in Beijing last month.

:35:01. > :35:06.Joshua Ralph. Outside David Rudisha, we will get a chance to look at

:35:07. > :35:11.them, we have Pierre-Ambroise Bosse and Michael Rimmer, who goes in Lane

:35:12. > :35:17.7. Bosse has been very impressive this season over 800m. We shall see.

:35:18. > :35:26.Rudisha goes in Lane 4. The nagging suspicion we will never see him fly

:35:27. > :35:33.again in the way he did in the final of 800m at London. 600m, 1:13.71

:35:34. > :35:43.David Rudisha ran a couple of years ago here to win this. Rudisha toyed

:35:44. > :35:47.with his tactics over 800m. He toyed with his tactics last season to try

:35:48. > :35:58.things out and it came good in the World Championships. It is a pity

:35:59. > :36:05.about the wind. He still ran 23.3. That is quick. So Bosse has had a go

:36:06. > :36:09.here, and I think it will be interesting to see how quick Rudisha

:36:10. > :36:14.goes. Rimmer brilliantly running well in third place. 200m to go.

:36:15. > :36:20.Does Rudisha have the legs to hold on? Michael Rimmer is digging in

:36:21. > :36:28.ahead of Sowinski. Rudisha stretching those legs, but Bosse is

:36:29. > :36:35.looking to attack. It is Rudisha, trying to hold off Bosse. Here comes

:36:36. > :36:39.the Frenchman. Bosse running hard. David Rudisha holds him off and

:36:40. > :36:46.holds him off and wins the 600m again! He is quicker than last time.

:36:47. > :36:55.1:13.12, Rudisha surprises us all and perhaps he still has it for the

:36:56. > :37:00.800m in Rio. The 600m goes to him. Another meeting record. 1:13.10 and

:37:01. > :37:04.what a great race here. Pierre-Ambroise Bosse tried and gave

:37:05. > :37:10.his level best to get back to the great manlet. -- great man. Michael

:37:11. > :37:16.Rimmer was fighting all the way and Rudisha wins again. What a great

:37:17. > :37:20.race that was. His last race in Shanghai was a bit of a farce in all

:37:21. > :37:24.respects at the start, and also from his point of view, he didn't run

:37:25. > :37:29.particularly well. This was tough today. It is a really good time.

:37:30. > :37:35.What about Bosse? Rimmer going well. That will be a French record and a

:37:36. > :37:41.European record for Bosse. And he nearly got there. That is showing a

:37:42. > :37:46.bit of fighting spirit this time from David Rudisha. That is fast.

:37:47. > :37:50.Given these conditions, they are not perfect conditions, two times into

:37:51. > :37:55.that wind, really, so the two of these producing a real show here.

:37:56. > :37:59.Rudisha winning, Bosse hanging on for second. Michael Rimmer, a

:38:00. > :38:02.personal best for him as well in fourth, maybe fifth place. A

:38:03. > :38:12.personal best for Michael Rimmer. Well done. Rudisha, what a run from

:38:13. > :38:18.him, holding off Bosse. David Rudisha is with Phil Jones.

:38:19. > :38:23.Andrew talked about David flying around the track in London 2012 to

:38:24. > :38:27.take the gold. That was reminiscent of it, never going to be beaten, you

:38:28. > :38:36.were so determined to win. Congratulations. Thank you. The

:38:37. > :38:43.weather was good, a bit windy. And I knew I was somewhere close to the

:38:44. > :38:47.world record for 600m. I think I just missed out and I lost it in the

:38:48. > :38:59.last 100m. The world record was on your mind? Yes, I know I'm in a

:39:00. > :39:04.position. I think if I was to run some more 600ms, I will get it. The

:39:05. > :39:11.wind was strong In the home straight, the back straight. This

:39:12. > :39:19.must give you a confidence boost in Olympic year? 600m is good and I

:39:20. > :39:24.like to run 400m or 600m to sharpen my speed. It is wonderful to see you

:39:25. > :39:29.here, winning again, and we wish you well in the Olympic year. Thank you.

:39:30. > :39:41.Greatly encouraging for David Rudisha. 0.3 seconds outside Johnny

:39:42. > :39:47.Gray's record. Michael Rimmer, that moves him up to sixth on the UK

:39:48. > :40:00.all-time list. A wonderful run by David Rudisha.

:40:01. > :40:06.Mo Farah for Great Britain! It's gold. Two gold medals for Great

:40:07. > :40:12.Britain! Beautiful! Have you ever seen anything like

:40:13. > :40:27.that? One of the greatest distance runners

:40:28. > :40:31.the world has ever seen. Mo Farah out on the track getting ready for

:40:32. > :40:35.the Men's 3000m, the first time he's raced on the track in the UK this

:40:36. > :40:40.year and Seb Coe, always a crowd-pleaser. You are still pleased

:40:41. > :40:45.with David Rudisha's run. I am still purring at David Rudisha's run. You

:40:46. > :40:51.can't take the smile off your face when you saw him cross the line. How

:40:52. > :40:55.important are days like this for Mo? As he reaches towards the end of his

:40:56. > :40:58.career, being appreciated by these crowds in Olympic year? It is

:40:59. > :41:03.important for athletes to recognise that they are cherished in front of

:41:04. > :41:07.their home crowds and this will send him off to the final weeks of

:41:08. > :41:12.preparation in great shape. He's running extremely well. We saw in

:41:13. > :41:16.Cardiff in the World Half Marathon Championships, that was really hard

:41:17. > :41:20.work. I sensed then that he realised the world was a smaller place than

:41:21. > :41:23.it possibly was for him in London. I think the form that he's shown in

:41:24. > :41:27.the last few weeks is going to see him through this season remarkably

:41:28. > :41:32.well. It will be a tough season. It looks like a new pre-race bit of

:41:33. > :41:47.antics there. Maybe that was in honour of the great Muhammad Ali. I

:41:48. > :41:50.hope so. He hasn't mind his intentions clear regarding London

:41:51. > :41:55.2017. You get the impression that this will be as hard as ever to

:41:56. > :41:59.retain these golds? It will be very tough. He has the great advantage,

:42:00. > :42:03.he has that crucial asset of knowing what it is like to go through the

:42:04. > :42:06.rounds in Major Championships and it is often a really distinguishing

:42:07. > :42:10.factor. He will know what it is like to be in the village, he will know

:42:11. > :42:16.what it is like to be preparing for the last few week, he will know so

:42:17. > :42:21.much more than many of the other athletes and that may be enough to

:42:22. > :42:27.see him home. You think he can still go for two golds? I genuinely do.

:42:28. > :42:35.His training is meticulous. He is very, very confident. Who could

:42:36. > :42:41.catch him? Today? In Rio? Well, you have a very good generation of

:42:42. > :42:48.Kenyan athletes. The competition is probably unlikely to be Ethiopian

:42:49. > :42:52.this time. And the athlete that took the half-marathon championships in

:42:53. > :42:55.Cardiff - I can't remember the name. He looked extremely good. I have

:42:56. > :43:00.heard some impressive things about his training as well. Let's see how

:43:01. > :43:04.he gets on today. He is lining up there in a very good field and it

:43:05. > :43:07.will be a field he can test himself. He will expect to cross the line

:43:08. > :43:13.first. It is over a good distance for him today. It is the right type

:43:14. > :43:19.of test he needs. Let's get to your commentary team now and Steve Cram.

:43:20. > :43:22.So Mo Farah going over seven-and-a-half laps of the track.

:43:23. > :43:31.I guess the big question is not can he win this - because as the flags

:43:32. > :43:34.are flying, we expect him to win in this type of competition. And to be

:43:35. > :43:43.fair, there is nobody really in the field who will trouble him today. We

:43:44. > :43:50.will go through it quickly. Dewi Griffiths and Jonathan Taylor going

:43:51. > :43:59.for Great Britain, too. Bethwell Birgen. Andrew Butchart has ran a

:44:00. > :44:04.superb 5000m, more of that in a second.

:44:05. > :44:13.Nobody here is going to give him too much to think about. They have asked

:44:14. > :44:19.for 60 seconds, that would put him on British record course, not world

:44:20. > :44:24.record, British record. Dave Moorcroft's record still stands.

:44:25. > :44:31.Farah gets a huge reception from this big crowd. The record goes all

:44:32. > :44:35.the way back to 1982 and Mo has come close. Indoors he's ran nearly as

:44:36. > :44:40.quick as that. There is Andrew Butchart, what a great performance

:44:41. > :44:44.from him recently, getting a Scottish record over 5000m and an

:44:45. > :44:56.Olympic qualifying time as well. There is Birgen. He's dipped between

:44:57. > :44:58.5000m and 1500m over the years. 7:37.00 is his best at this

:44:59. > :45:29.distance, which is world-class. Not a bad effort and the Mo Bot,

:45:30. > :45:37.Whorlton. Mo Farah hopefully heading for a quick time. -- well done. The

:45:38. > :45:57.meeting record seven point 26, that in fact means Diamond League, the

:45:58. > :46:10.old-style whatever it was,. Maybe we can pick up on the questions most

:46:11. > :46:15.people think it might be the 10,000 where he will be at its best. Mo

:46:16. > :46:23.Farah a big 10,000 metres in Eugene last week. Has been in heavy

:46:24. > :46:33.training in Flagstaff will stop just a question of whether the 10,000

:46:34. > :46:43.metres to took a lot out of them. Certainly disappointed with the run

:46:44. > :46:46.in Eugene. He felt like he was in much better shape. Maybe as you say

:46:47. > :46:51.because he worked very hard and did some strong training at his altitude

:46:52. > :47:07.base and did not quite have enough recovery time. He may be in much

:47:08. > :47:18.better shape. So far, so good. Just back off a little bit but now they

:47:19. > :47:25.have backed off a little bit. Mo Farah will just look to be in range.

:47:26. > :47:32.He could run the 55 second last lap if necessary. Needs three or four

:47:33. > :47:42.good labs first to set it up. Birgen is with him. -- lapse. So far so

:47:43. > :47:53.good. Butchart perhaps has his eyes on another's cottage record. John

:47:54. > :48:01.Robson another great Scottish 1500 metre runner has the 3,000-metre

:48:02. > :48:07.record at 7.45, Butchart in the middle of the pack at the moment. It

:48:08. > :48:15.is good to see Butchart with those qualifying times already, Jonathan

:48:16. > :48:19.Davies already in Belgium as well. We are looking at a strong

:48:20. > :48:28.5,000-metre team hopefully going to Rio and Mo Farah just doing all that

:48:29. > :48:37.he needs to stay on the pace, to stay close enough to the pacemaker.

:48:38. > :48:47.These next two lapse is when you have two keep the pace down. Just

:48:48. > :48:54.letting him go and you sense it is Mo slowing because Birgen is right

:48:55. > :48:58.on his shoulder. Checking behind, perfectly on pace, Mo just back. It

:48:59. > :49:05.is more about his intention over these next few laps. I am wondering

:49:06. > :49:09.if it is the fact Birgen is so close that explains why Mo has just backed

:49:10. > :49:13.off the pacemaker. First and foremost it wants to make sure he

:49:14. > :49:20.wins this race in front of the home crowd and at the moment Birgen is

:49:21. > :49:24.looking good. He could tie his laces up on the last lap and still beat

:49:25. > :49:28.Birgen. He does not need to worry about winning the race. I would like

:49:29. > :49:32.to see him having a go because obviously the crowd have come to

:49:33. > :49:36.cheer him on and it would be great to see him running fast. It is about

:49:37. > :49:41.whether he has it in his legs. He said he could not get moving in the

:49:42. > :49:47.middle of the race in the 10,000 metres. Still on for a quick time.

:49:48. > :49:57.Mo Farah in with a chance. Three to go. Mo Farah right on the shoulder.

:49:58. > :50:03.It is up to him when he wants to pick this up. The pacemaker doing a

:50:04. > :50:07.great job and he only in each to run the three laps in around three

:50:08. > :50:13.minutes, 60 seconds per lap assuming the last lap is a quick one he could

:50:14. > :50:17.even relax here. He doesn't need to but Mo Farah certainly within range

:50:18. > :50:23.of the British record. You can see he is working well and working hard.

:50:24. > :50:26.Also going to get a look at the screen on the back straight and he

:50:27. > :50:31.will see has broken clear which means he can relax a little bit and

:50:32. > :50:37.really commit to going for the time. He is not going to lose this now.

:50:38. > :50:44.Spot on through that kilometre, he could be heading for something below

:50:45. > :50:50.7.30 here if you can find something. Beginning to hurt but the noise in

:50:51. > :50:55.here is phenomenal. Really doing a good job and Mo Farah needs this.

:50:56. > :51:00.Two laps to go, I can tell you Butchart having a good race as well

:51:01. > :51:05.in fifth place. Could be heading for the Scottish record. Mo Farah with

:51:06. > :51:09.two to go, he is going for it. He was three seconds ahead of Dave

:51:10. > :51:15.Moorcroft's British record now he is rarely going for this time. 700

:51:16. > :51:21.metres left, into the back straight, the wind has dropped almost

:51:22. > :51:27.breathlessly. Will he leave the crowd breathless? Mo Farah on his

:51:28. > :51:30.own, we do not see this often. We do not see him chasing a time, going

:51:31. > :51:37.for records. He has won in his sights. He is still on schedule.

:51:38. > :51:42.This is the hard bit, this is when the herds. Not into the last lap,

:51:43. > :51:46.you have to keep the pressure on and give yourself a chance. Already

:51:47. > :51:52.looking for the home straight. The crowd doing a fantastic job. Mo

:51:53. > :52:00.Farah working hard. Less than 500 metres left. Is still moving forward

:52:01. > :52:07.on the pace. He is on schedule and he can really do this. BELL

:52:08. > :52:11.He needs to run in 58 seconds, he is hurting, that was a little bit

:52:12. > :52:16.slower through that 400 metres. Mo Farah knows that if he can just find

:52:17. > :52:27.a little bit then Dave Moorcroft's record that has stood since 1982,

:52:28. > :52:31.7:32.79. Great record at the time, the year Dave Moorcroft broke the

:52:32. > :52:38.world record. He was in the shape of his life and now Mo Farah could well

:52:39. > :52:41.expunge one of the longest standing British records but he's going to

:52:42. > :52:45.have to go some. He's going to have to find a little bit extra. The

:52:46. > :52:51.crowd know it is on, they are on their feet cheering him home. Mo

:52:52. > :52:56.Farah I has to really pick it up. He may well be watching the clock, if

:52:57. > :53:00.he can see it, he is good to be so close but I think he will just miss

:53:01. > :53:17.it. Some yards to go, is he going to get there? He has done it! By 0.1

:53:18. > :53:25.seconds! Mo Farah 7:32.62. British record by 0.1 seconds. It nearly

:53:26. > :53:32.slipped away. It nearly disappeared. As those last tens of metres were

:53:33. > :53:39.hurting and he just found enough. Little tribute perhaps for Muhammad

:53:40. > :53:44.Ali. Mo Farah doesn't then chased times and records. He has done that

:53:45. > :53:49.more indoors than on doors. It was hard in the end. Dave Moorcroft's

:53:50. > :53:56.record has finally tumble. I think Andrew Butchart may well have got

:53:57. > :54:01.his Scottish record, just, as well. Thumbs up around here saying he has.

:54:02. > :54:05.Well done and you Butchart, well done Mo Farah. It was hard in the

:54:06. > :54:12.end, Paula, he was ahead until the penultimate lap. Then he had to work

:54:13. > :54:17.so hard. It was good to see him commit in the middle of the race and

:54:18. > :54:23.that is where he won it. That is where he got himself another British

:54:24. > :54:30.record. How many is that now? 1500, 3000, 5000, 10,000. Still working on

:54:31. > :54:36.the marathon. Leading that till next year. The effort on his face. Really

:54:37. > :54:42.worked hard for that. Mo Farah has proved time and again that he can

:54:43. > :54:49.get it right when it matters. Chasing times now showing that he

:54:50. > :54:55.can do it. He had to work very hard. He managed to do it and then

:54:56. > :55:01.excellent run from Butchart as well. Great race from the pair of them and

:55:02. > :55:08.Mo Farah getting another British record. Another British record,

:55:09. > :55:13.Steve, getting quite a set now, Mo. All of the records across the board

:55:14. > :55:21.in Britain. That one was special. Did I get it? I didn't know that.

:55:22. > :55:28.David Molk from 1982. It is incredible, I am happy, I thought I

:55:29. > :55:32.just missed it. By one tenth. Thanks to the crowd, they made a big

:55:33. > :55:39.difference. I had to dig into in the last lap. Was it something you are

:55:40. > :55:46.targeting? I was targeting it, it was close from 2000 metres. How much

:55:47. > :55:51.pain in the last lap? I had to dig deep, it was breezy as well. It

:55:52. > :55:57.tells us what great shape you're in. I just had to believe in myself and

:55:58. > :56:00.get ready for Rio. Double defending champion, history means a lot, you

:56:01. > :56:06.want to make history by defending both titles. It is something that

:56:07. > :56:11.has never been done, it ain't going to be easy, I have to dig deep and I

:56:12. > :56:16.will keep working hard. My heart goes out to Muhammad Ali and his

:56:17. > :56:22.family, what a great man, one of my heroes. I want to wish his family

:56:23. > :56:31.well. And everyone, we all miss him. Really good of you, there was a

:56:32. > :56:38.tribute to him. Deftly, he was my hero, someone I looked up to.

:56:39. > :56:43.Someone we have missed the last ten years, he was not so well. You paid

:56:44. > :56:55.great tribute to him today. Thank you. STUDIO: Inspired performance

:56:56. > :57:02.from Mo Farah, now we know inspired by whom. Paying tribute to the great

:57:03. > :57:07.Muhammad Ali. Partly not realising he had got by record. Now I am

:57:08. > :57:12.nervous he will focus on the 800 metres, the only UK record he does

:57:13. > :57:17.not have. He has said he is not getting that one is Commissioner

:57:18. > :57:22.Mark maybe five years ago. I would not rule it out. I have to ask who

:57:23. > :57:28.your performance of the day is but I think I know the answer. You saved

:57:29. > :57:34.the best till last, Mo Farah. It was like a time trial, he delivers every

:57:35. > :57:39.time. You want to pay some aspects to Bailey doors as well but the

:57:40. > :57:43.British record that has stood since 1982 it is oppressive. It is

:57:44. > :57:48.impressive and it doesn't get any easier. He is a supreme athlete. The

:57:49. > :57:52.detail he goes through to get this performance should not be taken for

:57:53. > :58:02.granted. International performance of the day? David Rudisha, and what

:58:03. > :58:04.I loved about Mo today is the great thing about athletics is

:58:05. > :58:08.occasionally use the appearance of a different type of applet. Steve was

:58:09. > :58:13.right, does not normally chased times. He was really grinding it

:58:14. > :58:18.out. It is one thing that Nicholson that he does not have more records.

:58:19. > :58:22.Another one there. Five meeting records, five world leading times

:58:23. > :58:25.and you can enjoy more of the fantastic athletics on the red

:58:26. > :58:30.button in about the same time it takes David Rudisha to run six and

:58:31. > :58:34.images. Thank you both, I hope you will stay with me as well for the

:58:35. > :58:42.red button and more Di Meglio action victory. -- more Diamond League

:58:43. > :58:50.action next week. Goodbye. That is what it means to him. I have got to

:58:51. > :59:03.tell you that is good. He has just done what he does best. More does he

:59:04. > :59:05.have in store for us this year? That is a huge jump, perfect day.
