:00:55. > :01:23.And she made that look frankly pretty straightforward.

:01:24. > :01:35.Yes, it is the final Diamond League meeting of this season,

:01:36. > :01:38.with world-leading athletes going head to head as they bid

:01:39. > :01:42.to claim the overall prize in the individual disciplines,

:01:43. > :01:46.with 16 Diamond Race trophies to be handed out.

:01:47. > :01:48.The 40th staging of this Brussels meeting is sure to be

:01:49. > :02:00.First up on track is the women's 400 metre hurdles with

:02:01. > :02:09.Her first season under her married name has seen her triumph.

:02:10. > :02:17.In Doha and Monaco. She set a new personal best. 54.09. That's one

:02:18. > :02:19.heck of a confidence boost. Her Olympic bronze medal

:02:20. > :02:22.in the 4x400 metre relay in Rio saw her book on the joint most

:02:23. > :02:24.decorated female Scottish athletes of all time and if she can finish

:02:25. > :02:27.ahead of her main rival, Cassandra Tate, in Brussels,

:02:28. > :02:30.she can capture a memorable year Calling the action for us

:02:31. > :02:39.are Tim Hutchings and Stuart Storey. All nine lanes are being

:02:40. > :02:55.used in this stadium. The twice world champion,

:02:56. > :02:57.Zuzana Hejnova, who was troubled Fourth in Roy but couldn't get

:02:58. > :03:09.amongst the medals. And Sarah Petersen is in five,

:03:10. > :03:18.the silver-medallist from Rio, the European champion prior

:03:19. > :03:22.to that, in Amsterdam. Casandra Tate is second

:03:23. > :03:24.in that Diamond Race, just a few points behind

:03:25. > :03:26.Eilidh Doyle, who is Although Cassandra Tate has

:03:27. > :03:43.gone off very quickly, She is closing off,

:03:44. > :03:48.and remember, Doyle just easing onto her shoulder,

:03:49. > :03:51.a strong finisher. And not closing on Doyle

:03:52. > :04:09.at the moment, really committing. Strong running from peter seven on

:04:10. > :04:14.this bend. Doyle hasn't really made any

:04:15. > :04:16.impression on the Dane. Still going well in lane seven

:04:17. > :04:18.is Cassandra Tate. Doyle is beginning to go backwards,

:04:19. > :04:22.it is all unwinding for the Briton It is tight for third. Spencer takes

:04:23. > :04:33.third place. Well, that throws it all among

:04:34. > :04:36.the pigeons, doesn't it? Because Doyle was going backwards

:04:37. > :04:38.and really didn't judge Such a shame, because she has

:04:39. > :04:49.had a fabulous season, Held her form so well since Rio,

:04:50. > :04:52.with second in Lausanne and third in Zurich.

:04:53. > :05:01.I think that Eilidh Doyle did exactly the right thing.

:05:02. > :05:06.She really had to try out how she could run,

:05:07. > :05:08.if anything perhaps a bit quick to 300 between 200 and 300,

:05:09. > :05:11.but I tell you what, she gave it everything.

:05:12. > :05:13.Tate was always in competition, and Petersen,

:05:14. > :05:25.From the European championships in Amsterdam. Beyond that, to get the

:05:26. > :05:29.silver medal, absolutely superb. So Tate came in with

:05:30. > :05:41.30 points and she is Takes it away from el it Doyle. Alid

:05:42. > :05:50.Doyle. For the first time in the 40-year

:05:51. > :05:53.history of the Brussels meeting, one of the events has been held

:05:54. > :05:56.south side of the stadium. All three of the shot put

:05:57. > :06:02.medallists were in action. In the famous City Hall

:06:03. > :06:04.with an impressive backdrop. It was the reigning Olympic

:06:05. > :06:06.champion, Michelle Carter of the USA, who came out

:06:07. > :06:09.on top Thursday evening, finishing ahead of her

:06:10. > :06:12.archrival, Valerie Adams. There was some consolation

:06:13. > :06:16.for the New Zealander, having already clinched

:06:17. > :06:29.a fifth Diamond trophy. Well, in the women's javelin

:06:30. > :06:35.in third place is Kara Winger. A fourth round throw of 61 metres 86

:06:36. > :06:39.was in fact her season's best. And the world record holder

:06:40. > :06:50.here was second. Her best came in round

:06:51. > :06:55.five, at 63.78 metres. Great athlete to be

:06:56. > :06:59.a double Olympic champion. The winner today, from

:07:00. > :07:17.Latvia, Palameika. The European champion was fifth in

:07:18. > :07:19.the Rio Olympic Games. Her first throw was a national record for

:07:20. > :07:26.Latvia. Four throws beyond 60 metres

:07:27. > :07:28.and also confirmation that she is the Diamond

:07:29. > :07:30.Race winner for 2016. The next event on the track

:07:31. > :07:45.is the women's 100 metres. What about Elaine Thompson,

:07:46. > :07:51.double Olympic champion. She won the 100 metres in Lausanne

:07:52. > :08:09.against Schippers, who was disappointing in

:08:10. > :08:11.the 100 metres race. And Williams, silver-medallist

:08:12. > :08:14.in the 4 x 100 metres in Rio, Desiree Henry is having a cracking

:08:15. > :08:24.game, at the 200 metres Schippers has gone well,

:08:25. > :08:32.and so to Elaine Thompson, Wow, the meeting record

:08:33. > :08:51.that she definitely wanted to beat, which has been set by

:08:52. > :08:54.Shelley Ann Fraser Pryce in 2013, but that was

:08:55. > :08:56.an absolute demonstration. So, Schippers is better at the 200,

:08:57. > :09:13.but at the moment being totally dominated by the Jamaican,

:09:14. > :09:15.Elaine Thompson. Williams got away well,

:09:16. > :09:19.the diminutive figure on the left, but here is where

:09:20. > :09:25.Thompson took over. She tore them apart,

:09:26. > :09:28.yet that was a 2.5 metre victory against Schippers

:09:29. > :09:32.who herself was well clear. That is quite astonishing,

:09:33. > :09:34.only four other athletes in history She continued to accelerate

:09:35. > :09:41.right the way through, hitting speeds that Schippers

:09:42. > :09:45.could not get to. The time, equalling the stadium

:09:46. > :09:52.record and with a meeting with a heritage of this one,

:09:53. > :09:54.it says a great deal. There is the result,

:09:55. > :10:02.of the 100 metres. Had Schippers won, they would have

:10:03. > :10:11.both had 42 points, but it It in the men's discus,

:10:12. > :10:23.third place, the man Second in Rio and then for five

:10:24. > :10:49.rounds. He closes series with three no

:10:50. > :10:51.photos, fatigue is allowed, and the Diamond League

:10:52. > :11:02.trophy is consolation. Stahl was fifth in Amsterdam this

:11:03. > :11:05.season, sent a personal best after Rio and easy and five

:11:06. > :11:09.for them, producing a great effort. Stahl surprising the big

:11:10. > :11:21.names with that victory. And Malachowski came

:11:22. > :11:23.into the competition with 42 points The athletes are waiting patiently,

:11:24. > :11:37.for the women's 400 metres again. Jackson the bronze-medallist

:11:38. > :11:43.at the Olympics is in lane three and fascinatingly

:11:44. > :11:49.and there is Caster Semenya, quite a surprise, for the Olympic

:11:50. > :11:55.800 metres champion, how will she go here?

:11:56. > :12:02.Stephanie and mix first and goes in number five.

:12:03. > :12:10.There is Natasha Hastings, the world number five,

:12:11. > :12:36.Well, Semenya has got into her run very quickly, fourth from right.

:12:37. > :12:39.A gap developing between herself and MacPherson in lane five.

:12:40. > :12:44.Also as evidence, Hastings in lane six has gone off very quickly indeed

:12:45. > :12:47.through the first 200 metres, also going well and probably leading

:12:48. > :13:02.Semenya is still in a battle in lane four, and MacPherson leads in five,

:13:03. > :13:08.Here comes Semenya, gradually easing them up.

:13:09. > :13:22.In her first really significant 400 metres

:13:23. > :13:25.in the international athletics scene, and that is a new personal

:13:26. > :13:33.And it is a superb but rare ability, at 400 and 800 metres

:13:34. > :13:42.That was a wonderful piece of 400 metre running.

:13:43. > :13:50.The pace and the power of that strength endurance just taking over

:13:51. > :14:07.Extraordinary, the American who won in Zagreb earlier this week finished

:14:08. > :14:10.very strongly indeed, right on the outside.

:14:11. > :14:13.Look at that, that is about as close as it gets.

:14:14. > :14:26.She didn't win the race, but she did win the Diamond Race.

:14:27. > :14:45.Caster Semenya was the winner on the night with that personal best.

:14:46. > :15:01.Fabulous form from the Colombian capped off a fabulous series with no

:15:02. > :15:03.less than four efforts beyond 14.50 metres.

:15:04. > :15:11.Didn't look too far shy and eventually 14.66,

:15:12. > :15:19.tonnes of power and great height in the final phase.

:15:20. > :15:22.She was one of those athletes knowing she was the Diamond winner.

:15:23. > :15:25.And pretty much has won everything there is this season.

:15:26. > :15:43.Still to come, she set a new world record at 5,000 metres,

:15:44. > :15:46.Still to come, she set a new world record at 10,000 metres,

:15:47. > :15:49.can she repeat this feat in the women's 5,000 metres?

:15:50. > :15:58.Robbie Grabarz is one of four men battling in the high jump finale.

:15:59. > :16:00.Good three-time world champion Kiprop clinch victory

:16:01. > :16:07.Adam Gemili and Talbot in the men's 200 metres.

:16:08. > :16:12.With the world record in the men's steeplechase.

:16:13. > :16:17.And it is a straight fight between Cheruiyot

:16:18. > :16:23.and Pierre-Ambroise Bosse for the 800 metres Diamond trophy.

:16:24. > :16:27.The next event is the men's high hurdles.

:16:28. > :16:47.Omoregie of Great Britain 13.24 in Berlin recently to set

:16:48. > :16:56.Bascou, the Olympic bronze-medallist, the Olympic

:16:57. > :17:26.champion at this year has been going very well, Bascou.

:17:27. > :17:44.I think Bascou is in third, but the time 13.08.

:17:45. > :17:58.The former Cuban is making a big impact.

:17:59. > :18:15.Not a lot in it at the start, but certainly Ortega looks

:18:16. > :18:31.Comes off the hurdle very quickly, look at that.

:18:32. > :18:36.Gets down to the deck quick, leans in and is in total control

:18:37. > :18:42.A very powerful last 30 or 40 metres.

:18:43. > :18:45.I thought Martinot-Lagarde had that put to bed, but Ortega is indeed

:18:46. > :18:51.There is the confirmation of the high hurdles.

:18:52. > :19:02.Martinot-Lagarde, that is his season best.

:19:03. > :19:07.The men's high jump has the potential to be the most

:19:08. > :19:15.Only six points separate the leader from Ukraine to Robbie Grabarz

:19:16. > :19:41.The scene is set for a four-way tussle in Brussels.

:19:42. > :19:54.Doesn't seem that the head is together tonight in this

:19:55. > :20:00.One failure at 226 and another at 229.

:20:01. > :20:03.He only has one life left and I can tell you a couple of

:20:04. > :20:15.Kynard and Protsenko have gone clear.

:20:16. > :20:29.Barshim at the high jump now getting into the arena of respectability.

:20:30. > :20:31.Barshim had a dreadful season last season and an indifferent

:20:32. > :20:43.he got himself a silver medal and was 2.36.

:20:44. > :20:45.Had such difficulty after jumping 2.43 the season before.

:20:46. > :20:47.So much was expected, with so much pressure to attempt

:20:48. > :20:53.The next event of the track is the women's 5,000 metres

:20:54. > :21:19.Here she is fresh and ready to go we understand.

:21:20. > :21:36.Ayana on her day is capable of breaking the world record figures.

:21:37. > :21:44.The athletes passing the band about now.

:21:45. > :21:52.The important thing is to get these splits right early on,

:21:53. > :21:56.if it genuinely is to be a world record attempt by Ayana.

:21:57. > :21:58.it is important they get the first couple of kilometres hit

:21:59. > :22:12.Ten seconds under one kilometre under three minutes puts you 50

:22:13. > :22:14.seconds under 15 minutes and the world record is 14.11.

:22:15. > :22:24.The tempo we are hoping for is 14.10.

:22:25. > :22:27.We'll keep on top of that, but there may be events unfolding.

:22:28. > :22:30.Look at this year's failure at 226 and has another attempt at 2.29

:22:31. > :22:38.Bondarenko in trouble now big trouble.

:22:39. > :22:41.He is now at two failures at this height, and looking at the computer,

:22:42. > :22:55.He had one attempt at 2.26, the passed and had two failures here.

:22:56. > :23:18.The laps have gone 68 and Ayana in third place.

:23:19. > :23:21.The 22-year-old Kenyan who is a 15.16 athletes has

:23:22. > :23:35.the burden to take them round at a steady tempo.

:23:36. > :23:37.She was fourth in the 10,000 in Rio, Nawowuna.

:23:38. > :23:39.Really strong running from her in Rio.

:23:40. > :23:41.She was a relatively unheralded, it has to be said, she won

:23:42. > :23:43.the Kenyan nationals in Nairobi in 31.40,

:23:44. > :23:46.and those of you who know the thin air of Nairobi,

:23:47. > :23:48.because of the altitude, that's a great score.

:23:49. > :24:11.We saw her in Shanghai, Rabat and Rome.

:24:12. > :24:14.When you look at the pedigree, especially over the 10,000,

:24:15. > :24:16.and the 5,000 perhaps she went a bit off track

:24:17. > :24:19.in qualification, took a lot out of her legs.

:24:20. > :24:32.In the end she suffered dramatically for it.

:24:33. > :24:33.Nawowuna did very well in that 10,000 metres

:24:34. > :24:43.Shannon Rowbury back in the second quartet in 8th place at the moment.

:24:44. > :24:45.Interesting hit out for the American who won over 1,500

:24:46. > :25:00.That was on Thursday last week, so eight days ago.

:25:01. > :25:02.Laura Muir and Jenny Simpson and a strong field.

:25:03. > :25:03.255 for the second kilometre.

:25:04. > :25:08.We can forget about the world record.

:25:09. > :25:16.They are almost ten seconds outside the required tempo before halfway.

:25:17. > :25:27.The Olympic Games silver-medallist in London.

:25:28. > :25:33.He was 6th in Rio de Janeiro, 233 and drifted badly.

:25:34. > :25:39.She has the gap created of about 28 metres now.

:25:40. > :25:52.I don't think the world record is under threat any more,

:25:53. > :25:55.but she covered a 1,200 metres segment into 12 and has just put

:25:56. > :26:03.She covered 1,200 metres in under 320.

:26:04. > :26:07.Heads down the back straight now with over a lap and a bit to run.

:26:08. > :26:10.You're left wondering yet again what may have been as she goes

:26:11. > :26:23.Both of them tried to go with the initial surge but if you do

:26:24. > :26:27.that and you really are not up to it when you pay for it

:26:28. > :26:29.for the remaining laps and they are looking tired.

:26:30. > :26:30.Rowbury has had a far more balanced race.

:26:31. > :26:47.She goes through with one lap to run.

:26:48. > :26:51.It is going to be mighty quick, some distance inside 14.20 I think,

:26:52. > :26:53.the world record though is surely safe as Ayana continues with that

:26:54. > :27:06.The gap is probably 35 metres, maybe 40 to Obiri the 26-year-old

:27:07. > :27:10.Kenyan who worked so hard for that silver medal in Rio.

:27:11. > :27:30.Ayana enters the final bend, it has been a fantastic effort from her.

:27:31. > :27:33.If only those middle laps had been a little bit quicker,

:27:34. > :27:38.She comes into the straight now and it yet again will be a near miss

:27:39. > :27:44.She did this in Rome and she's doing it again here in Brussels.

:27:45. > :27:46.The crowd rise to their feet on the home straight.

:27:47. > :27:56.Watch the clock, it is massively quick care.

:27:57. > :27:58.14.18.91 from Ayana, if only it had been a more even pace

:27:59. > :28:04.You can imagine what might have been.

:28:05. > :28:06.Obiri in second-place, Teferi in third.

:28:07. > :28:08.Shannon Rowbury sprinting home for fifth place in 14

:28:09. > :28:33.And the rest of the field while they are coming down the home

:28:34. > :28:35.straight now as we can see celebrations from other

:28:36. > :28:52.The Australians Wellings having a fantastic season.

:28:53. > :28:54.Steph Twell has had a super season but Ayana, leaves you with

:28:55. > :28:58.a mouthwatering feeling of what she might achieve in 2017

:28:59. > :29:08.at a packed stadium at the London World Championships.

:29:09. > :29:10.Ayana seven seconds shy of the world record.

:29:11. > :29:12.Obiri a personal best and a North American record

:29:13. > :29:55.They each had two failures that there is the card.

:29:56. > :30:04.Jumping with new-found confidence this year it has to be said.

:30:05. > :30:15.Second placed, back in business at 232.

:30:16. > :30:17.The men's 1500 next and it is a big field in.

:30:18. > :30:34.A big personal best at 800 for Grice.

:30:35. > :30:40.There is the cream of the field though.

:30:41. > :30:43.The three-time world champion with a 6th place in Rio behind

:30:44. > :30:59.I actually thought he might take the gold but Kiprop

:31:00. > :31:14.Managoi a fast finisher, he was disappointing

:31:15. > :31:16.in Rio and he went out in his heat for Kenny.

:31:17. > :31:35.And that tall loping style, with the blue vest, sees him slot

:31:36. > :31:48.in behind the pacemakers, he looks ambitious.

:31:49. > :31:55.Makhloufi holding his hand out as if to say, I'm turning left, OK?

:31:56. > :31:58.Just a bit of traffic in fourth place.

:31:59. > :32:01.Slotting into fifth place and it is quick, no doubt about that

:32:02. > :32:05.It should go through in about 41 of 42 seconds.

:32:06. > :32:07.Yes and we must not forget the Moroccan.

:32:08. > :32:09.And certainly Kiprop is doing what he should have done

:32:10. > :32:24.in the Olympic Games, of course there was an opportunity

:32:25. > :32:28.after what happened in 2012, but here he is,

:32:29. > :32:30.the man who is capable of a sub 330.

:32:31. > :32:35.And he's better when he leads in this sort of way.

:32:36. > :32:40.And also, Makhloufi is there as well.

:32:41. > :32:43.Maybe a bit on the quick side, we were looking them to go

:32:44. > :32:55.It'll be interesting to see what this is going at.

:32:56. > :33:01.I know that I don't think it this is great pace making,

:33:02. > :33:04.some people think it should be fast but that was extravagant.

:33:05. > :33:07.Makhloufi in third, and Kiprop is in sixth place at the moment.

:33:08. > :33:17.And look at that, almost 57 seconds that second lap.

:33:18. > :33:26.It is not good pace making I'm afraid.

:33:27. > :33:31.Almost a three and a half second difference.

:33:32. > :33:34.And Makhloufi is strong, we know he is powerful.

:33:35. > :33:39.He looks comfortable there, I think they have slowed,

:33:40. > :33:42.but frankly the pacemakers should have done that a couple

:33:43. > :33:55.His third lap will have been the slowest of the race so far.

:33:56. > :33:58.It is interesting to see that they have got another one

:33:59. > :34:11.Looking in very good form, there is a bit of a gap opening up.

:34:12. > :34:14.And Kiprop needs to start to make an attack if he's

:34:15. > :34:26.59 seconds, that lap, it was dreadfully slow.

:34:27. > :34:30.A fabulous run at the moment, it could be a personal best

:34:31. > :34:45.for the Norwegian here, they queue up on the shoulder,

:34:46. > :34:49.And Cheruiyot who kicks away on the home straight.

:34:50. > :34:51.And, Iguider, in second, and Kiprop eases off

:34:52. > :35:10.That 53.7 opener which misled the field, the major protagonist

:35:11. > :35:12.would have gone through in the low 54s and that is just too quick

:35:13. > :35:16.You cannot afford to go out there and expect to come back

:35:17. > :35:18.and run a measured race with a strong lap.

:35:19. > :35:24.Cheruiyot, what a busy last 100 metres.

:35:25. > :35:28.Glancing around all the time down the home strait.

:35:29. > :35:33.Kiprop tailed off when he knew he was going to be third.

:35:34. > :35:51.Barshim, a real opportunity, for this high jumper

:35:52. > :36:01.to stay in the competition, and look at that.

:36:02. > :36:10.His third and final attempt, and was a good appearance.

:36:11. > :36:29.Here we have got the Olympic champion, in the whole

:36:30. > :36:31.Here we have got the Olympic champion, in the pole

:36:32. > :36:33.vault, Stefanidi has passed several heights.

:36:34. > :36:35.That was a good clearance, great technician, wonderfully consistent.

:36:36. > :36:39.The next race on the track is the 200 metres, it is going to be

:36:40. > :37:01.This should be a very good race indeed, so the Diamond League winner

:37:02. > :37:19.But, what about that result in Lausanne just recently.

:37:20. > :37:34.Multiple European champion in the fast.

:37:35. > :37:40.He got to form in the past, and Gemeli was so disappointed,

:37:41. > :37:41.And Forte of Jamaica, then Danny Talbot, twice

:37:42. > :37:48.European Championship in the 200 metres.

:37:49. > :37:58.Well, not much in it as they go into the bend,

:37:59. > :38:04.and Martina of the Netherlands going pretty quickly.

:38:05. > :38:08.Forte going well, Martina really powering down,

:38:09. > :38:23.Forte, Gemeli, Martina, all in the mix.

:38:24. > :38:25.Gemeli ran really well into the final part of the race,

:38:26. > :38:36.Have a look at this as they come in to the bend.

:38:37. > :38:39.This time the Frenchman not functioning well.

:38:40. > :38:43.Look at Martina, going off the bend, into the home straight

:38:44. > :38:50.and he is leading, look at this, and Gemeli comes in strongly.

:38:51. > :39:00.Who gets it? They've given it to Julian Forte.

:39:01. > :39:02.Gemeli, it has come down to thousands because they have

:39:03. > :39:17.I thought he was heading backwards about 40 metres out.

:39:18. > :39:25.He finished so strongly, he dug really deep and that

:39:26. > :39:28.margin of victory for Forte has got to be almost literally,

:39:29. > :39:50.I would have thought that Gemeli took it.

:39:51. > :40:07.It was a personal best, and Forte ran a personal best as well.

:40:08. > :40:09.And Adam Gemili, 1997, his personal best.

:40:10. > :40:16.What a race, you don't get much closer than that.

:40:17. > :41:26.Barshim looks to me to have the opportunity of winning this,

:41:27. > :41:34.He needs it very, very badly indeed and he knows it.

:41:35. > :41:37.The last time he made the attempt he was so determined,

:41:38. > :41:39.he has been over this height many times before.

:41:40. > :41:45.It could be the last jump off the competition.

:41:46. > :42:00.And Kynard knows that could well have taken him to the Diamond race.

:42:01. > :42:03.I think that Barshim, will end up with 36 points

:42:04. > :42:17.and Kynard is the Diamond League champion for 2016.

:42:18. > :42:31.Yes, Morris, who has had a season of seasons,

:42:32. > :42:33.the world indoor silver-medallist, the Olympic Games silver-medallist

:42:34. > :42:47.She has a personal best from the end of July.

:42:48. > :42:49.She is a wonderfully consistent pole vaulter, relatively

:42:50. > :42:55.new on the global scene in 2016, one wonders what she can do.

:42:56. > :42:58.I think this is a young lady who might beat the world

:42:59. > :43:12.We had over the back straight, towards the end of the back straight

:43:13. > :43:14.and the athletes lining up for the men's steeplechase.

:43:15. > :43:16.We were threatened with a world record win.

:43:17. > :43:19.There is the steeplechase, perhaps a more credible world

:43:20. > :43:25.record, much talked about over the last couple of weeks.

:43:26. > :43:33.The Olympic champion has not raced since Rio, unbeaten,

:43:34. > :43:38.but he has already sealed up the Diamond race.

:43:39. > :43:41.Without any threat to his status as the Diamond League champion.

:43:42. > :43:44.Seven of the top ten in the world this year on the rankings.

:43:45. > :43:46.It includes the Olympic champion and the last

:43:47. > :43:50.It is a field of the very highest order.

:43:51. > :44:06.Kipruto has never broken the world record but he has been very quick.

:44:07. > :44:12.And we flipped rather quickly passed Jager,

:44:13. > :44:22.who could be the first non-African to break that speed level.

:44:23. > :44:32.One of them was injured last year with an Achilles problem.

:44:33. > :44:35.The drums ring out around the stadium once again,

:44:36. > :44:57.But we are looking for the first kilometre here of around 237.

:44:58. > :44:58.So Sandy Morris, attempting it.

:44:59. > :45:12.She has a personal best of four metres 93 but this

:45:13. > :45:18.The Olympic silver-medallist going very well.

:45:19. > :45:59.A click inside 2.40, Kipruto has hit the front

:46:00. > :46:03.now, Jager in his wake with four laps to run.

:46:04. > :46:13.It may not be what Kipruto wants because Jager can almost

:46:14. > :46:22.I tell you what Tim, the confidence that must have given

:46:23. > :46:25.Jager from that Olympic performance and we have seen him close

:46:26. > :46:29.He really is an athlete with lots of confidence.

:46:30. > :46:32.His hurdling technique is very good so he does not use as much energy

:46:33. > :46:41.That is a big gap now between the leading two and Kipruto

:46:42. > :46:53.is only 21 as Tim said, former world junior champion

:46:54. > :46:56.and my goodness me he has moved so quickly and matured beyond those

:46:57. > :47:03.4.94, I think that is the vault that is a personal best for her.

:47:04. > :47:05.A certain record here, a meeting record by

:47:06. > :47:21.It is an American record as well and she's really flying in every

:47:22. > :47:29.She had a few failures early on but 4.88 and then 4.94,

:47:30. > :47:38.the last three heights, first-time clearances.

:47:39. > :47:40.US record, world lead, meeting record.

:47:41. > :47:45.She is under some pressure now Stephanie knew.

:47:46. > :47:50.No, it was actually closer than the bounds

:47:51. > :47:52.No, it was actually closer than the bounce

:47:53. > :48:01.It was her second attempt of course, she had one failure earlier.

:48:02. > :48:03.Having seen Morris go clear, she would have stayed

:48:04. > :48:16.Just under two laps to go in the steeplechase and the gap

:48:17. > :48:26.The leading pair, Jager dogging the heels of Kipruto in the top

:48:27. > :48:38.Two kilometres was reached which effectively kills off any

:48:39. > :48:48.It was headlined as a world record attempt and his agent has been happy

:48:49. > :48:52.to discuss that with the media over the last few days.

:48:53. > :48:56.Jager pulling up alongside Kipruto there.

:48:57. > :49:00.Might yet break eight minutes if they hack it

:49:01. > :49:26.This has been perfect pacemaking for Jager.

:49:27. > :49:28.Absolutely and we have seen Jager finish.

:49:29. > :49:31.He showed his fatigue in the final stages on barriers before but this

:49:32. > :49:34.time there's a new confidence in the man.

:49:35. > :49:37.Jager has been working on his finishing speed,

:49:38. > :49:43.we know that throughout the year and it was one quality

:49:44. > :49:47.He is on the shoulder of Kipruto, 200 metres to run.

:49:48. > :49:49.The Olympic champion, the undisputed world number one,

:49:50. > :49:55.Over the barriers Kipruto, approaching the water

:49:56. > :49:58.jump for the final time, they both go clear, Jager a little

:49:59. > :50:00.stumble, again appears to be a bit vulnerable

:50:01. > :50:11.The crowd rise to their feet roaring these two home.

:50:12. > :50:14.It is going to be a charge of the final barrier but Kipruto

:50:15. > :50:21.He has the legs to beat the American as he crosses the line in 803.77,

:50:22. > :50:23.Jager another quick time, just fails to take the win.

:50:24. > :50:33.Mekhissi Benabbad finishing strongly for third place.

:50:34. > :50:41.Andrew Bayer comes home, good solid run from him around 820.

:50:42. > :50:44.I'll tell you what, we talk again and again as commentators

:50:45. > :50:48.and falling into the trap of highlighting world record attempt

:50:49. > :50:51.and it just doesn't happen again and again.

:50:52. > :50:59.They are world records for a reason, the quickest times in history.

:51:00. > :51:02.The winning time in the steeplechase, 8.03.74

:51:03. > :51:08.and it is over ten seconds outside the world record of the former

:51:09. > :51:11.Kenyan who did it on this very track 12 years ago.

:51:12. > :51:28.Mekhissi Benabbad sees his best in third.

:51:29. > :51:31.In the long jump, Lawson got himself into third place

:51:32. > :51:35.He had eight metres and no jump in the second and then 8.04

:51:36. > :51:44.in the third and then 8.04 in the sixth round.

:51:45. > :52:08.That was his third round one, he did that again.

:52:09. > :52:22.He was a world champ silver medallist in 2015. But Manyonga...

:52:23. > :52:25.We had a few eight 20s, no jump and then 8.48,

:52:26. > :52:29.No jump in the last round but that doesn't matter, that was perfection

:52:30. > :52:44.Lapierre in second place and then Manyonga in first place

:52:45. > :52:54.We have a real pole vault demonstration going

:52:55. > :52:59.Morris attempting five metres and she has got it.

:53:00. > :53:01.First-time clearance, that is a second time clearance

:53:02. > :53:11.The bar I think for not coming off but that is five metres

:53:12. > :53:17.and that is a new meeting record, a new Diamond League record,

:53:18. > :53:20.a new American record, a new personal best and all

:53:21. > :53:24.I'll tell you what puts it in perspective for Morris,

:53:25. > :53:26.she's the only second athlete in history to clear

:53:27. > :53:34.The world record is 5.06, Morris was already second

:53:35. > :53:38.on the world outdoors but she has just improved several classes.

:53:39. > :54:05.There is the line-up for the men's 800 metres.

:54:06. > :54:07.There is Kipketer, great speed in the world youth Championships

:54:08. > :54:32.This is Ambroise-Bosse the Frenchman.

:54:33. > :54:34.This will be a race which will be very competitive

:54:35. > :54:45.Certainly Murphy has gone off quickly so has Tuka on the far side.

:54:46. > :55:00.Certainly this is proving to be a good opener but they are not

:55:01. > :55:22.I will be intrigued to see how Murphy gets on, ran a 3.52 mile

:55:23. > :55:26.at the Fifth Ave in New York and he is going strongly on here,

:55:27. > :55:50.The Americans have a real diamond in this young man.

:55:51. > :55:56.Challengers Murphy as they come into the straight, it is going

:55:57. > :56:10.This is going to be one of those very tight finishes.

:56:11. > :56:15.Right on the line and that's looked like Kipketer Kszczot.

:56:16. > :56:23.He battled in the final line and surprise them.

:56:24. > :56:34.All of a sudden Kszczot who has been such a good competitor in the past

:56:35. > :56:41.Six people he passes in the last 50, a brilliant race and

:56:42. > :56:43.on the inside there, Betis so busy celebrating

:56:44. > :56:46.that he doesn't realise Kszczot has gone past them.

:56:47. > :56:49.Watch this, spreads the arms and thinks he's got the victory,

:56:50. > :57:03.celebrates and that is a coaching error of the very first class.

:57:04. > :57:09.Look at the rest, how close was that one?

:57:10. > :57:13.In a way it is deserved, he has run very strongly

:57:14. > :57:23.We have a world attempt now at five metres

:57:24. > :57:38.But this night will be remembered by a young woman

:57:39. > :57:45.Morris, the second woman only in the history of the event

:57:46. > :58:31.Plenty to come, but that's it for this year's coverage of the Diamond

:58:32. > :58:37.League. And what season it's been. Goodbye.

:58:38. > :58:46.Welcome to the first Diamond League meeting of this Olympic year. The

:59:13. > :59:20.new era of women's speechle racing. This is going to be tight. He's a

:59:21. > :59:24.bit of a showman. He is back in business. Fire all around the track,

:59:25. > :59:26.because we had fire on
