:00:52. > :01:00.Welcome to highlights of Eugene Diamond League, the Prefontaine
:01:01. > :01:06.Classic. This is the spiritual home of American athletics. Eugene is
:01:07. > :01:12.also the training base for Britain's Mo Farah, so where better for him to
:01:13. > :01:14.start the final season of a magnificent career on the track?
:01:15. > :01:32.Here we go. Here we go. There goes Mo Farah at the bell. Mo
:01:33. > :01:41.Farah's gone. He is away, bow to his superiority. It is gold! Let's get
:01:42. > :01:48.straight to the track and your commenters. - comment Taitors.
:01:49. > :01:57.COMMENTATOR: A huge field for the 5,000 metres. There was 29 starters,
:01:58. > :02:04.but it includes Mo Farah, the double Olympic and double world champion.
:02:05. > :02:17.There is Kejelcha, he is still only 19, but a year ago he lifted the
:02:18. > :02:28.world indoor title over 3,000. He is a special talent, but so is Chelimo.
:02:29. > :02:38.A personal best in Doha three weeks ago. There is the main man, Mo
:02:39. > :02:48.Farah. Chatted with him on Friday. The Olympic champion. This is his
:02:49. > :03:05.opening 5,000 metres of year. He ran a 1,500 two weeks backment looked
:03:06. > :03:11.very smooth. It is a big field. Kamworor is expected to provide a
:03:12. > :03:17.stiff challenge for Farah. We will identify more of the athletes now
:03:18. > :03:29.they're under way. They're looking for 62 seconds per lap. That would
:03:30. > :03:36.take set them up for a sub 13-minute time. Another Briton Andy Butchart.
:03:37. > :03:46.He ran a good indoor mile. He is on record over the last few days saying
:03:47. > :03:52.he believes Farah is beatable and Kamworor has said he believes he
:03:53. > :03:58.will win this race today. I have always been a fan of letting my legs
:03:59. > :04:08.doing the talking. Farah in eighth or ninth. Look comfortable. I was
:04:09. > :04:15.struck how relaxed Mo was sounding. He is not one to talk a good race
:04:16. > :04:22.unless he is feeling. When he talked to him about Kamworor, he said, I'm
:04:23. > :04:29.delighted. Six laps to run. Farah has moved up to fourth place. Sambu
:04:30. > :04:43.leads. The pace has settled down and a bit of a clip for Kejelcha. Farah
:04:44. > :04:50.on the heels of rest-vested Geoffrey Kamworor. Certainly has slowed a
:04:51. > :05:02.bit. They come to seven laps down. Sambu leading. Also looking strong
:05:03. > :05:14.is Jenkins, who has a great indoor season. He has enormous speed as
:05:15. > :05:22.well. They have come to 3,000 metres. Five laps to run. Kejelcha
:05:23. > :05:29.in the blue moving down the outside. They go through in 7.51. It is six
:05:30. > :05:33.or seven seconds outside the tempo that was requested. It has slowed
:05:34. > :05:38.over the last two or three laps. They have lost a lot of the hard
:05:39. > :05:53.work that was done earlier. Two laps to run and the clock on 11.03.
:05:54. > :06:05.Five men on the inside is Kamworor. He said he felt he could beat Farah.
:06:06. > :06:09.But he was outspringed by the bri -- outsprinted by the world champion in
:06:10. > :06:14.Beijing. They're leaving it late. They have to take control and
:06:15. > :06:19.wrestle back control of the race from Farah. And nobody's doing it.
:06:20. > :06:23.Yet again, I feel they're playing into the hands of the Olympic
:06:24. > :06:29.champion. They're not shifting fast at the moment. They're bunching.
:06:30. > :06:37.They're almost chomping on the bit on the shoulder of Mo Farah, yet
:06:38. > :06:42.they will not take the lead. Kamworor in fourth as they come to
:06:43. > :06:47.the bell. Mo Farah in the perfect position. Exactly where he wants to
:06:48. > :06:53.be - on the inside forcing the others to go around. Kejelcha into
:06:54. > :07:05.third. Kamworor slipping away. This is vintage Farah. Can the others
:07:06. > :07:13.stay with him. Kejelcha moving down the outside. Kamworor is there as
:07:14. > :07:16.well. But Farah holding the inside line, running the shortest bend and
:07:17. > :07:24.running a metre or two less than the others and he is in the front.
:07:25. > :07:30.Kejelcha on his shoulder. Now they kick for home. They move away from
:07:31. > :07:34.Kamworor and it is Farah who will take this again. Farah all the way
:07:35. > :07:42.down the home straight. Takes the win and the last lap from Farah I
:07:43. > :07:47.got at around 55.3 seconds. Kejelcha gave it such a hard go. But he felt
:07:48. > :07:54.he could outsprint the man who again and again has shown them that he
:07:55. > :07:59.will not be out-sprinted. If that is a mark tore lay down for -- marker
:08:00. > :08:08.to lay down for London, that is quite a statement. Yet again Mo
:08:09. > :08:13.Farah asked the question, does he have the speed? Yes. Do his
:08:14. > :08:19.opponents have a way to beat him? No they don't. It is like a puzzle and
:08:20. > :08:25.every time Farah has another gear. Even there he is not in fifth gear.
:08:26. > :08:29.There is more to come and Kejelcha admits he is beaten and the trade
:08:30. > :08:31.mark celebration for Mo Farah. What a performance. Confirmation of the
:08:32. > :08:42.win. There is a real familiarity to that
:08:43. > :08:47.result. It was good. It was amazing to win here. But this track is
:08:48. > :08:52.special and many people always say a lot of stuff in terms of Mo doesn't
:08:53. > :08:57.have a hard race and today it showed. Everybody was in that race.
:08:58. > :09:02.I went out there and used my experience and come awhich with a
:09:03. > :09:06.win. What a way to end my career in the US. This is my last track race
:09:07. > :09:18.ever in the US and this track, this is it. There is a host of British
:09:19. > :09:27.athletes competing today, including European indoor champion Andy Pozzi.
:09:28. > :09:37.Can Lynsey Sharp challenge the seemingly unstoppable Semenya? Adam
:09:38. > :09:47.Gemili faces a big test. And Laura Muir is in the 1,500 metres. Now
:09:48. > :09:59.let's catch up with the best of the action from Friday night.
:10:00. > :10:09.COMMENTATOR: The star was Chivet. This year the challenge came from
:10:10. > :10:35.the Kenyans. She was caught from behind was
:10:36. > :10:49.Chespol. There is the clip on the heel. It dislodged the shoe. And
:10:50. > :11:02.Chespol has to adjust. Look at the response. She winds them in.
:11:03. > :11:06.Chepkoech dining well. The world junior champion, the crowd warming
:11:07. > :11:23.to her on a wonderful evening. This is the water jump for the last time.
:11:24. > :11:31.400 metres on. Jebet has fwon. Now the handbrake is off and away she
:11:32. > :11:36.goes. It was a question of the time. Could she dip under 9 minutes? Well
:11:37. > :11:45.yes she could. The second fastest time of all time in the women's 3
:11:46. > :12:07.thousand steeplechase and an outstanding performance.
:12:08. > :12:14.This was Ugen's jump. She has been very consistent this year. That was
:12:15. > :12:33.the best of the lot. Enough to earn her third place. Bartoletta took the
:12:34. > :12:38.title last year. Here she got 6.83. Laying down the gauntlet to her
:12:39. > :12:44.American team mate. We were looking forward to another riveting rivalry
:12:45. > :12:52.between these two. 6.83 only enough for second. Because Reese started
:12:53. > :13:02.with 6.88 and then went better. This the best of the lot. 7. 01 and she
:13:03. > :13:05.knew it was a good one. Victory by a margin of 18 centimetres. The
:13:06. > :13:14.longest jump in the world in 2017. The only woman to jump over 7 metres
:13:15. > :13:28.assuring Brittney Reese victory. Revenge for the defeat in Rio in sum
:13:29. > :13:30.we are Ugen in 4th. The Prefontaine meeting is renowned for the big race
:13:31. > :14:00.action. Dbaba settled. She was never on
:14:01. > :14:05.schedule though and left well short of the target over the final couple
:14:06. > :14:10.of laps, despite rallying. The world record holder at 1,500 metres, the
:14:11. > :14:17.world champion, showing fraet strength over this longer distance
:14:18. > :14:22.and crowd roaring her on as she toured the circuit for the final
:14:23. > :14:33.time. She came home over 20 seconds shy of the mark required.
:14:34. > :14:44.The silver lining for Dibaba is that is not in sink with record setting
:14:45. > :14:49.in May. Her sights are set on the middle distance, but there was an
:14:50. > :14:58.air of disappointment as she took a very comfortable win indeed.
:14:59. > :15:13.Let's check in with the triple jump and Bin Dong.
:15:14. > :15:23.That's big. Brilliant opener. Wow. The Olympic bronze-medallist from
:15:24. > :15:27.Rio. The rhythm and power, it takes enormous strength to hold your
:15:28. > :15:37.balance through the phases. That will take some catching. Christian
:15:38. > :15:43.Taylor, two times Olympic champion. Just behind Jonathan Edwards on the
:15:44. > :15:50.all-time list. My word, that's huge! Three fabulous phases from Taylor.
:15:51. > :15:55.He really hit the board well. Maintained the speed, difficult to
:15:56. > :16:09.keep the momentum going, and then a marvellous leg shoot into the sand.
:16:10. > :16:11.17.80 two. Will Claye. Here we go. Enlisting the support of the crowd.
:16:12. > :16:27.Here he goes. Yes! Oh my word. That is brilliant.
:16:28. > :16:31.There's something in the Hayward Field juice today. Anything
:16:32. > :16:38.Christian Taylor can do, Will Claye can match it. That's what he seems
:16:39. > :16:40.to be saying. 17.01 the opening effort. That was a little site for
:16:41. > :16:50.him. This is huge. 17.38 puts him into second place,
:16:51. > :17:10.tucking in behind Christian Taylor. The next action is the women's 100
:17:11. > :17:14.metres hurdles. A magnificent seven of American high hurdler is. The
:17:15. > :17:21.strength in depth in American high hurdling is outstanding. In lane
:17:22. > :17:30.one, the only non-American, Alina Talay from Belarus. From the USA,
:17:31. > :17:37.Jasmin Stowers, heading for Olympic qualification last year before
:17:38. > :17:42.crashing into the final barrier. Dawn Harper-Nelson, former Olympic
:17:43. > :17:50.champion in Beijing in 2008. Still in great form. Sharika Nelvis, three
:17:51. > :17:54.times a Diamond League winner. And Queen Harrison, Pan American games
:17:55. > :18:20.champion in 2015. Stour is gets it on the line. 12.50
:18:21. > :18:25.nine. -- Stour is. Really good hurdling from Jasmin Stowers. 12.50
:18:26. > :18:31.nine. A season 's best for the young American.
:18:32. > :18:38.Second to write, Jasmin Stowers didn't get a particularly good
:18:39. > :18:43.start. Second to left, Christina Manning led through the first half
:18:44. > :18:47.and then Stowers got into her running. She knows she battling with
:18:48. > :18:54.an athlete five lanes to have a right. In lane eight, Queen Harrison
:18:55. > :19:09.easing past Manning to take second spot. This is the final result. A
:19:10. > :19:19.season 's best. Harper-Nelson was given third place. Armand Duplantis,
:19:20. > :19:23.the Swedish American, has pole vault thing in the genes with his father
:19:24. > :19:29.for top picked up a foal -- pole vault at the first time at the age
:19:30. > :19:35.of four or five. Great technique. The best pole vault in the family
:19:36. > :19:45.and already, at 17 years old, looking very, very accomplished
:19:46. > :19:52.indeed. Safely over at 5.70 one. -- 5.7 one. The reigning Olympic
:19:53. > :20:01.champion, Ruth Beitia. Nicely done. Effortless. Just warming up, Ruth
:20:02. > :20:06.Beitia. 1.8 four. Clean card so far. First-time clearances at 1.79 and
:20:07. > :20:11.1.8 four. Back to the triple jump now. The
:20:12. > :20:18.league still held by Christian Taylor with that Montrose --
:20:19. > :20:19.monstrous opener. Will Claye is in second after his second round
:20:20. > :20:33.effort. That's big from Claye again! I don't
:20:34. > :20:41.think it's taken the lead, but it might well be an improvement on the
:20:42. > :20:49.17.38 in the second round. He's so quick on the runway. Just lifts his
:20:50. > :20:59.head at the last minute. 17.38 we are looking to improve on. Christian
:21:00. > :21:08.Taylor on 17.8 two. 17.6 X, getting closer. Will Claye in second place.
:21:09. > :21:13.Coming next ago. The bar now at 1.8 eight. 19 years old. Prodigious
:21:14. > :21:24.talent. Clear daylight. Wonderful technique. Timing, so fluid. Ashley
:21:25. > :21:29.Cunningham at 1.8 eight. -- 1.80 eight.
:21:30. > :21:35.Andrew Pozzi's promising career has been blighted by injury. This year
:21:36. > :21:39.he filled early season promised by winning gold in Belgrade. If he can
:21:40. > :21:42.get through the outdoor season injury free he will expect to
:21:43. > :21:46.compete a world final in London against many of the men he faces
:21:47. > :21:53.today. There's the line-up for the men's
:21:54. > :22:03.metres hurdles. 110 Hot seat of Britain in lane two. Omar McLeod,
:22:04. > :22:10.the Olympic champion and... Devon Allen in lane five. There's Ronald
:22:11. > :22:13.Levy of Jamaica, the 24-year-old. Andrew Pozzi, European indoor
:22:14. > :22:22.champion in March, world number one indoors. Dimitri Bascou, his first
:22:23. > :22:29.race of the outdoor season. The Olympic bronze-medallist in Rio in
:22:30. > :22:35.three. There's Omar McLeod, the only athlete in history to have run under
:22:36. > :22:40.ten seconds for the flat 100 and under 13 in the hurdles. The Olympic
:22:41. > :22:42.champion, the world number one after a big win in Des Moines three weeks
:22:43. > :23:04.back. McLeod very quick on the run in.
:23:05. > :23:16.Second place might have been Ronald Levy. There was no doubting the
:23:17. > :23:19.winner. Omar McLeod taking it. Another very, very polished
:23:20. > :23:24.performance. Not the best start from Omar McLeod, but by the third or
:23:25. > :23:28.fourth hurdle he was into his rhythm. Pozzi working very hard to
:23:29. > :23:34.get into the picture. Omar McLeod, the longer the race went on, the
:23:35. > :23:39.better he got. The margin of victory was quite comfortable. Alan trying
:23:40. > :23:47.to go with him with Aries merit. Trying to play catch up. Look at the
:23:48. > :23:54.lean to the line from McLeod. Fastest in the world this year. In
:23:55. > :24:03.second place, in yellow, brie and run from Ronald Levy. A Jamaican --
:24:04. > :24:09.brilliant run. We can go back to the triple jump
:24:10. > :24:12.and Christian Taylor. About to take his fourth attempt. He's put
:24:13. > :24:26.together a wonderful series and he leads. That's big again! He knows
:24:27. > :24:31.it. Stomps out of the pit, oozing pomp and arrogance. That is so
:24:32. > :24:36.important, mentally he's really on top of this. Thumping his chest. He
:24:37. > :24:48.knows he's got this nailed, going so well. Modest in the second round.
:24:49. > :24:53.18.11! Now we are getting into world record territory. The 18-metre club
:24:54. > :25:09.has five members, that's all. Renaud Lavillenie. Yes! That's the
:25:10. > :25:15.lead for the Frenchman. The little man with the big heart is on song
:25:16. > :25:21.here, going for a fifth title. They absolutely love him and the
:25:22. > :25:25.adoration is very much reciprocated by Renaud Lavillenie, one of his
:25:26. > :25:32.favourite meetings in the Diamond League series. That is why. He's top
:25:33. > :25:38.of the leaderboard once again. We can take you back to the triple
:25:39. > :25:47.jump. Taylor booming out to 18.11. He's now regained the lead. What
:25:48. > :25:53.will Will Claye do in response? Plenty of speed, nice rhythm to the
:25:54. > :26:00.board. Fabulous second phase. That's big again. That might be 18 metres
:26:01. > :26:04.once more! I think only once in history have two athletes beaten 18
:26:05. > :26:08.metres in the same competition. We might be seeing it again here at
:26:09. > :26:13.Hayward Field. He's hoping and praying that he will have taken the
:26:14. > :26:24.lead from this man, who jumped 18.11 in the fourth round. 18.05, Will
:26:25. > :26:30.Claye. That is a huge new personal best. Looking at the wind, it was
:26:31. > :26:35.2.4. Just over the limit. It doesn't count as an official personal best.
:26:36. > :26:47.Psychologically he's knows he's an 18-metre jumper. 2.5 inches shy of
:26:48. > :26:52.Christian Taylor. Back to the track, the women's 100 metres. The athletes
:26:53. > :26:57.stripped down and ready at the far end. Veronica Campbell-Brown is a
:26:58. > :27:02.living legend, three times Olympic champion, taking 200 gold in Athens
:27:03. > :27:06.and Beijing Guoan the she looked very out of sorts in Shanghai a
:27:07. > :27:12.couple of weeks back when she finished sixth. Michelle-Lee Ahye
:27:13. > :27:15.your, fifth in the last World Championships, fourth in Shanghai.
:27:16. > :27:25.Can she find her reasoning -- racing legs? Muler L Ahoure of the Ivory
:27:26. > :27:36.Coast. -- Uri Geller hooray. She's a quick starter. Moral Lake Akinosun
:27:37. > :27:52.goes in lane six. -- Morolake Akinosun.
:27:53. > :28:08.Akinosun takes it from Ahoure. Ahye coming through to take third spot.
:28:09. > :28:11.If the time is confirmed, it is a significant new personal best for
:28:12. > :28:19.Akinosun. The wind just over the legal limit at 2.1. It does mean the
:28:20. > :28:27.personal-best stays at 10.95 for the American. Ahoure took second place.
:28:28. > :28:33.Brilliantly timed by Akinosun. Third left of picture. At this stage
:28:34. > :28:37.Ahoure is looking good and has opened up some daylight. Here comes
:28:38. > :28:41.Akinosun in the last ten or 15 metres, flailing the arms of it.
:28:42. > :28:50.Confirmation of the win for Akinosun. Campbell-Brown, a
:28:51. > :28:52.significant improvement for the Jamaican.
:28:53. > :29:01.Back to the men's pole vault competition. Duplantis, final
:29:02. > :29:09.attempt. It was close. He gave it a tickle. The bar sadly comes down for
:29:10. > :29:14.him. His afternoon is over, but he's won the hearts of this Hayward Field
:29:15. > :29:18.crowd, many of whom are seeing him for the first time. He is surely the
:29:19. > :29:23.future of men's pole vault thing in the world and he's quite a talent. A
:29:24. > :29:29.third failure and his competition is done. Sam Kendricks lying in second
:29:30. > :29:49.place, from the USA. This his first attempt at 5.86.
:29:50. > :29:58.Trying to keep pressure on Lavillenie. Kendricks, an Olympic
:29:59. > :30:06.bronze-medallist from last summer. Oh yes, he has brought the crowd
:30:07. > :30:17.alight. That is the gauntlet laid down to Lavillenie. Kendricks takes
:30:18. > :30:21.the lead. Lovely vaulting. Women's high jump. The second attempt. That
:30:22. > :30:33.is more like it. She goes clear at 1.95. Second
:30:34. > :31:06.place. In lane 8 the 20-year-old from
:31:07. > :31:13.Africa. Lane 7 Vernon Norwood, an accomplished relay runner.
:31:14. > :31:25.Hudson-Smith making his debut for Britain. Very much the future of
:31:26. > :31:30.British 400-metre running. Shawn Merritt, what can we say about him
:31:31. > :31:36.that hasn't been said. Seven times a champion. Three times an Olympic
:31:37. > :31:46.champion. I saw him yesterday looking very re-Laaxed in-- relaxed
:31:47. > :31:56.indeed. Merritt very much the man to beat in this race. Let's keep an eye
:31:57. > :32:05.on the young man to his left Sibanda. But Merritt is on the
:32:06. > :32:12.shoulder of Hudson-Smith already. Lane 4 is out. Sibanda has gone.
:32:13. > :32:18.Merritt running a tight bend. Going well is Norwood in lane 7. We have
:32:19. > :32:24.lost the young African. Merritt coming under pressure from Norwood.
:32:25. > :32:31.But still he will have far too much to do. Merritt coming home in under
:32:32. > :32:46.45 seconds. 44.79. Just a fraction outside his season's best. But
:32:47. > :32:51.another very polished performance by La Shawn Merritt. He brings
:32:52. > :32:59.fantastic 200-metre speed. As he comes off the bend, he looks a
:33:00. > :33:04.little leg levy. They were -- leg heavy. Conditions are not ideal.
:33:05. > :33:10.There is a strong wind. They are coming back in 7 and 8. Thebe just
:33:11. > :33:16.taking second place to the extreme left of picture. But he did stay
:33:17. > :33:31.well clear, Merritt. The only athlete under 45.
:33:32. > :33:38.Will Claye, this man's triple jump competition has been coming to a
:33:39. > :33:43.boil. With Christian Taylor with the second best jump of all time. There
:33:44. > :33:51.is another excellent jump, but shy of the magic 18 metres mark and more
:33:52. > :33:57.frustration. 18.05. But it was not legal. Taylor is already confirmed
:33:58. > :34:01.as the winner. Can he be boyed out to something better? That looked
:34:02. > :34:09.like a no-jump from Taylor. It matters not a jot. He has the win.
:34:10. > :34:15.Confirmation of the win. 18.11. Very rarely do you see two athletes over
:34:16. > :34:26.18 metres in the same competition. Dong takes third. Back to the pole
:34:27. > :34:34.vault and Lavillenie still in action. Nobody yet clear at 5.91. Oh
:34:35. > :34:39.no, I thought he had that. He did too. So frustrate rd, it was a
:34:40. > :34:46.brilliant attempt. In fact it is a second attempt. But his last effort
:34:47. > :34:52.because he had one failure at 5.86. But Sam Kendricks has won the day.
:34:53. > :34:55.The Olympic bronze-medallist clearing 5.86. I said it could be
:34:56. > :35:02.significant. That is what has been the case.
:35:03. > :35:10.Still to come, Laura Muir in the 1,500 metres. The world and Olympic
:35:11. > :35:20.champions lead a high class field in the women's 200 metres. There is the
:35:21. > :35:27.ladies 800 metres. What a field it is, the world No 1, Caster Semenya,
:35:28. > :35:42.a Winner Doha three weeks ago. Twice a world champion.
:35:43. > :35:59.Niyonsaba. And the Olympic bronze-medallist from Rio Wambui.
:36:00. > :36:10.This Caster Semenya in lane 6. Big, imposing figure. Will she dominate
:36:11. > :36:19.as she did in Doha? Well Chambers the pace maker running to run 56.
:36:20. > :36:25.She has gone off well as has Lynsey Sharp in the blonde pony tail. Sharp
:36:26. > :36:29.is in the middle of a pack. Difficult when you're on the inside
:36:30. > :36:34.at the start. Do you go off quickly to try and get position near the
:36:35. > :36:44.front or go at a steady tempo and get boxed, like Sharp has. Chambers
:36:45. > :36:49.leads, Niyonsaba has gone with her. Wambui this third. And then Caster
:36:50. > :36:55.Semenya in fourth. Loping down the home straight as they come to the
:36:56. > :36:58.half way mark. Even in fourth there is something about the rhythm of
:36:59. > :37:05.Caster Semenya that looks so threatening. She looks untroubled.
:37:06. > :37:10.Wambui looking to be working harder. We will see Semenya come good. The
:37:11. > :37:15.pace maker Chambers is out out there and went through in 59 seconds and
:37:16. > :37:23.there was not much interest from the field. Niyonsaba in second. As
:37:24. > :37:31.Wambui moves up on to her shoulder. Now the move from Caster Semenya.
:37:32. > :37:40.Eases on the should and moves into the lead. Wambui moves on to her
:37:41. > :37:45.shoulder. She looks so untroubled, so relaxed. Now she pumps harder.
:37:46. > :37:51.Wambui on her shoulder. They are moving clear. The rest struggling.
:37:52. > :37:56.Caster Semenya doing just enough to stay ahead of Wambui. The gap is a
:37:57. > :38:05.metre. Semenya will take it. The clock didn't stop. What a shame, or
:38:06. > :38:14.if it did very late. It shows 1.59.09. Ignore that time on screen.
:38:15. > :38:19.But Caster Semenya, well, it Wurz almost patronising, she dominated so
:38:20. > :38:25.much and did just enough to keep Wambui at bay. Semenya hugging the
:38:26. > :38:32.inside track. Forcing her Kenyan opponent go wide. Semenya looking
:38:33. > :38:38.untroubled. Just a glance to the right and she can just ease off in
:38:39. > :38:48.the final few metres. Caster Semenya winning. The wing mar gin belies the
:38:49. > :39:05.ease of the victory. The crowd expect fast times from the
:39:06. > :39:10.100 metres. The entire field have sub 10 second personal bests. So
:39:11. > :39:23.Gemili will have to be on top form. Justin Gatlin the world champion. He
:39:24. > :39:49.is 35 years old now. The Canadian is still only 22, De
:39:50. > :39:58.Grasse, huge hopes for him. Meite was solid in Shanghai a fortnight
:39:59. > :40:12.ago. His lifetime best is 9.96 came in Rio. There is Ronnie Baker. He is
:40:13. > :40:24.a youngster too at 23A distant relative of one Tyson Gay. Ujah goes
:40:25. > :40:30.for Britain. Gemili, three times European champion, the 23-year-old.
:40:31. > :40:47.He was fourth in Rio over 200 metres.
:40:48. > :40:59.Baker storming away with this. Look at the time. 9.85 there. Fabulous
:41:00. > :41:03.stuff from Ronnie Baker. That is a huge new personal best from him. It
:41:04. > :41:14.is a world lead as well. Fastest time in the world was 9.98 by the
:41:15. > :41:21.Zambian. But that time, albe it with a wind over the limit. Didn't get
:41:22. > :41:26.the best of starts. But soon up and into his running. Justin Gatlin also
:41:27. > :41:32.third from right going well. The longer the race went on. He dragged
:41:33. > :41:35.Ujah with him did Baker. That is very impressive from the
:41:36. > :41:41.23-year-old. He has been in sparkling form and played a part in
:41:42. > :41:45.the world relays last month. That is a couple of good scalps for Bayer
:41:46. > :42:05.Kerr. -- for Baker. This is one of the most eagerly
:42:06. > :42:12.anticipated races of the weekend. Six women sub four minutes. The
:42:13. > :42:24.record on US soil for the most sub four minute finishes is five.
:42:25. > :42:34.Kipyegon has owned this event. But Laura Muir is in the form of her
:42:35. > :42:39.life. Had a wonderful indoor season. Four national records, five personal
:42:40. > :42:43.bests and double victory at the European indoor Championships. The
:42:44. > :42:50.pacing to be done by Price. They have asked for 64 laps. Aiming to
:42:51. > :42:55.get under 3.59. This will be a really tasty encounter. A chance
:42:56. > :43:00.from a British perspective for Laura Muir to come of age and test herself
:43:01. > :43:16.against the very best. She has the fastest time in the field. There is
:43:17. > :43:23.the pace maker. They have requested 60 second laps. There is Laura Muir
:43:24. > :43:32.taking close order with Kipyegon. That is Grape Grace at the -- Cape
:43:33. > :43:37.Grace at the front. I'm surprised to see these big names come together. I
:43:38. > :43:41.almost feel it is a clash that should have been saved for the World
:43:42. > :43:48.Championships in London. This is a fabulous field. Simpson against
:43:49. > :43:55.those two. But Laura Muir will have to do some smart thinking. I think
:43:56. > :44:00.Kipyegon has it all. You're right and the point well made, we saw in
:44:01. > :44:05.the Olympics last year with Laura Muir in a medal position and not
:44:06. > :44:07.happy to settle for nird. Tried to em-- for third and tried to improve
:44:08. > :44:25.and came home in seventh. There is also also a world class
:44:26. > :44:32.operator. Plenty for Laura Muir to test herself again. Kipyegon where
:44:33. > :44:44.she wants to be and Muir just getting boxed in slightly.
:44:45. > :44:52.Kipyegon shocked many with her victory in the Olympic Games. Two
:44:53. > :45:08.laps to run. The last 800 metres in Rio was way under 1.58. Dibaba
:45:09. > :45:12.couldn't last on the final lap but Kipyegon could. Laura Muir came
:45:13. > :45:18.unstuck over the final 200 metres and Jenny Simpson ran the smoothest
:45:19. > :45:22.race of all. There she is now, second left. She ran the smoothest
:45:23. > :45:27.race to take the bronze medal. Grace is still in there as well, going
:45:28. > :45:31.shoulder to shoulder with Kipyegon. Laura Muir a bit further back.
:45:32. > :45:37.Shannon Rowbury is also in the field. The pacing has been nicely
:45:38. > :45:44.done. Kipyegon taking closer order as the pacemaker drops out. Now a
:45:45. > :45:50.chance for Laura Muir to test herself against Faith Kipyegon.
:45:51. > :45:59.Final 400 metres. Kipyegon hits the bell. Grace on the inside, Laura
:46:00. > :46:05.Muir having to go wide. Gudaf Tsegay is in there as well, I sat opposite
:46:06. > :46:10.her on the plane, chatting to her. There's Laura Muir down the back
:46:11. > :46:15.straight with 300 to go. What has she got? We were talking to her
:46:16. > :46:21.coach last night, and the young, and he admitted there had been a couple
:46:22. > :46:27.of problems with a fever. Otherwise training at Flagstaff has gone
:46:28. > :46:31.perfectly over the last few weeks. A question over whether the hay fever
:46:32. > :46:38.and pollen count in Oregon is very high. She's having to dig very deep.
:46:39. > :46:42.She likes to do it the hard way. I think Kipyegon has got this, she's a
:46:43. > :46:48.class apart. Laura Muir digging deep, having to work very hard to
:46:49. > :46:53.stay in second place. Another impressive victory for the Kenyan.
:46:54. > :47:00.She takes applause. Laura Muir beaten by the better woman on the
:47:01. > :47:04.day. Smiles all round from the meeting record holder. Kipyegon
:47:05. > :47:09.comes up with another very, very impressive performance. Kipyegon has
:47:10. > :47:17.marvellous speed in during and over the final 200 it told. Easing clear
:47:18. > :47:24.of Laura Muir. Look at the grimace from Laura Muir. Obiri snatch a
:47:25. > :47:30.second place. Kipyegon looks smooth. Lovely, fluid stride. She wins from
:47:31. > :47:40.five or six metres. Obiri of Kenny just gets second. Confirmation of
:47:41. > :47:45.the result... Laura Muir having to settle for third on this occasion.
:47:46. > :47:52.More to come, you sense, from the European indoor champion.
:47:53. > :48:01.Here is Kamila Licwinko. This is her third and final attempt at 1.98.
:48:02. > :48:08.That was all wrong. A shame. Concludes her work for the
:48:09. > :48:15.afternoon. She was fine up to and including 1.92 and then 1.98 she
:48:16. > :48:24.hits the buffers. The last attempt for the competition leader competing
:48:25. > :48:32.here as a neutral athlete, Russian born. Third attempt at 2.03 and it
:48:33. > :48:38.was successful. That surely is the jump that will clinch that high jump
:48:39. > :48:54.competition and it does indeed. The Olympic Club you, Beitia, in fourth
:48:55. > :49:00.place. -- the Olympic champion. That's huge! You could hear him roar
:49:01. > :49:05.it on its way. That is a monster from Crouser. His lead was with
:49:06. > :49:22.21.89. That is very close to his lifetime
:49:23. > :49:27.best. Kovacs, last attempt in this shot put competition, lying in third
:49:28. > :49:33.place. That's a no throw. Joe Kovacs's afternoon is done and he
:49:34. > :49:37.will finish in third place. It underlines the quality of this
:49:38. > :49:41.competition when the reigning world champion, Joe Kovacs, can do no
:49:42. > :49:46.better than third place. Tom Walsh steps into the circle for the final
:49:47. > :49:53.time, the penultimate throw of the contest. He needs to find, goodness
:49:54. > :50:01.me, about 70 centimetres. That's to catch Crouser. No. So close. Looks
:50:02. > :50:09.to be beyond 22 metres, but it's no throw. That's frustrating. It was
:50:10. > :50:19.big. You have to retain control, stay within the circle. That
:50:20. > :50:26.confirms Crouser as the winner. Tommy Walsh's best coming with his
:50:27. > :50:31.opener. The next action on the track is the women's 200 metres and a
:50:32. > :50:37.field loaded with talent. Rio reunited. All three medallists from
:50:38. > :50:42.last summer are here. Better known as a 400 metres runner, the Olympic
:50:43. > :50:52.champion, Shaunae Miller-Uibo going in the 200 here. Tori Bowie in lane
:50:53. > :50:58.seven, the silver and bronze-medallist, bronze in the 200,
:50:59. > :51:02.silver in the 100. The joint fastest in the world this year. Elaine
:51:03. > :51:09.Thompson, double Olympic champion, the first female sprinter to do the
:51:10. > :51:15.sprint double at an Olympics since Flo Jo in 1988. Very much the
:51:16. > :51:19.favourite to win here. Dafne Schippers, born just 13 days apart
:51:20. > :51:27.from Elaine Thompson was -- Elaine Thompson. She will have a say here,
:51:28. > :51:31.Dafne Schippers. The world champion. This field, one of the highlights
:51:32. > :51:39.for this wonderful crowd anticipating a wonderful race.
:51:40. > :51:47.Looking for Elaine Thompson in the purple vest. Tori Bowie has had a
:51:48. > :51:52.storming first 50 metres. Coming under pressure is Dafne Schippers.
:51:53. > :52:02.She's doing very well, but at the moment Thompson is nowhere. Tori
:52:03. > :52:06.Bowie is going to win this one. Shaunae Miller-Uibo, the 400 metres
:52:07. > :52:10.specialist, in second. Bowie has taken this field apart. Elaine
:52:11. > :52:16.Thompson, the double Olympic champion, made to look very, very
:52:17. > :52:22.ordinary. Dafne Schippers also flailing behind. 21.77 the winning
:52:23. > :52:30.time. That's an improvement on her lifetime best, a scorching
:52:31. > :52:34.performance. Bowie in the blue, blasting the first 75 around the
:52:35. > :52:41.blue. -- around the bend. The others can't get close. Great bend from
:52:42. > :52:46.Dafne Schippers, solid running down the home straight from Thompson, but
:52:47. > :52:51.the gap was huge. She never had a chance of getting back to Tori
:52:52. > :53:01.Bowie. A big win for the American. Confirmation... Allyson Felix,
:53:02. > :53:06.22.33, down in fifth place. There's the statue of Bill Bowerman
:53:07. > :53:13.and we prepare now for the final discipline, for many the climactic
:53:14. > :53:18.discipline, the Bowerman mile. Bill Bowerman one of the Storl warts of
:53:19. > :53:28.track and field in Oregon. The pacemaker will be Rotich. He's
:53:29. > :53:35.looking to go out in 1.53. Sensible pacemaking. Elijah Kiptoo expected
:53:36. > :53:39.to take over. If they can lay down a decent final lap, having stuck with
:53:40. > :53:50.that tempo, we might get something under 3.50. The Olympic champion
:53:51. > :53:57.withdrew two days ago. Centro running really well a couple of
:53:58. > :54:01.weeks back, but he's got a virus at the moment. The injury is recovering
:54:02. > :54:09.well, but Centro pulled out with a virus. Charlie Grice, winner of the
:54:10. > :54:15.international mile last year. He is upgraded from the international race
:54:16. > :54:19.to the main Bowerman mile. Clayton Murphy is back in eighth place at
:54:20. > :54:25.the moment in the light blue vest. I'll be interested to see how he
:54:26. > :54:36.goes here. At the moment, looking for the tall figure of Kiprop. He's
:54:37. > :54:43.not the first four canyons. In fact, looking to see where Kiprop is, you
:54:44. > :54:48.can see Ingebrigtsen towards the back of the field, about three from
:54:49. > :54:58.the back. A lap and a half done. Also going well is Iguider, three
:54:59. > :55:02.times Olympic finalist. Very tough customer, a good 5000 metres runner
:55:03. > :55:07.as well. Kiprop towards the back of the field in the Orange, three from
:55:08. > :55:13.the back. Letting this race run away from him and he does this so often.
:55:14. > :55:18.Almost an arrogant, strategic method. Sometimes it works,
:55:19. > :55:26.sometimes it doesn't. This hasn't been particularly quick, around
:55:27. > :55:32.1.55. Not as quick as requested. Not at all. Kiprop almost idling at the
:55:33. > :55:38.back. Fascinating to see him starting to pick his way... Second
:55:39. > :55:42.from the back. He's about to be overtaken. Interesting to see
:55:43. > :55:49.whether Kiprop will do his trademark surge from the back in the final 400
:55:50. > :55:54.to 600 metres. Blankenship making a big surge. Somebody has gone down.
:55:55. > :56:01.That's Souleiman, that's unfortunate. Lincolnshire got fed up
:56:02. > :56:08.with the way it was meandering up the back straight. -- Blankenship.
:56:09. > :56:15.This is playing into the hands of one man. I'm looking at Clayton
:56:16. > :56:21.Murphy in the light blue. Watch him. He's got the 800 metres speed. Can
:56:22. > :56:29.he stay with it? Blankenship, eighth in Rio over 1500 metres. Kwemoi is
:56:30. > :56:34.there, the winner over 3000 metres in dough half. -- dough half. --
:56:35. > :56:48.Qatar. Kwemoi has the strength from the
:56:49. > :56:52.3000 metres. The Kenyans emanating this one at the moment. Murphy has
:56:53. > :57:00.left himself with a lot of work to do as they come into the final
:57:01. > :57:05.straight. Murphy should have been up with these three. Kwemoi down the
:57:06. > :57:12.outside and he will take this. The strength and speed are there. It
:57:13. > :57:18.looked like a tactical affair. That could have been so much quicker.
:57:19. > :57:25.Here are the three Kenyans battling it out. It became a test of strength
:57:26. > :57:34.over the last 30 to 40 metres. Great leg speed to beat Manangoi. Let's
:57:35. > :57:35.take a look at the final result. The Kenyans proudly wearing their
:57:36. > :57:49.national vests. That's all from Eugene. We're only
:57:50. > :57:52.halfway through a day of sport on BBC Two. Stay with us for the
:57:53. > :58:12.European rowing Championships. Thanks for joining us. We've seen
:58:13. > :58:16.some more great performances from some of the world's best athletes,
:58:17. > :58:20.who are all working towards one thing, the World Championships in
:58:21. > :58:32.London in August. Until next time, goodbye. Usain Bolt! He's done it!
:58:33. > :58:41.Semenya is the champion! A new British record! A mammoth jump! A
:58:42. > :58:50.new world record! Sophie Hitchen, what an effort. It's huge! A new
:58:51. > :58:57.British record! David Rashida is going to win the world title. A
:58:58. > :59:00.beautiful jump. Laura Muir, she has smashed the British record. Mo Farah
:59:01. > :59:12.wins the gold! We need to trap the beast
:59:13. > :59:20.which killed him. Tear him apart!
:59:21. > :59:25.I want him found! Now!
