:00:47. > :00:55.Hello and welcome to highlights of the World Indoor Championships from

:00:56. > :00:58.Portland in the USA. With less than five months until the Olympics,

:00:59. > :01:06.plenty of athletes are looking to lay down a marker for the end of the

:01:07. > :01:12.season. Lawrence Clarke gets his championship under way in the heats

:01:13. > :01:18.of the men's 600 metres hurdles. Ashton Eaton is looking to retain

:01:19. > :01:26.his world title, but can he beat his world record as well? The women's 60

:01:27. > :01:32.metres is the main event today. We had the semifinals and final coming

:01:33. > :01:36.up. Dafne Schippers is a world champion sprinter outdoors, can she

:01:37. > :01:44.reached the top step of the indoor podium? An exciting schedule ahead

:01:45. > :01:50.and joining me in the commentary box art our regular team of Paula

:01:51. > :01:54.Radcliffe and Steve Backley and Jessica Ennis-Hill's coach Tony

:01:55. > :01:55.Minch yellow. We begin with a 60-metre hurdles and this is how

:01:56. > :02:25.they line up in the first heat. Qualification is not difficult. The

:02:26. > :02:28.top three will go through. Quite a few Americans have disappeared off

:02:29. > :02:41.to Caribbean islands and other places to find opportunities in an

:02:42. > :02:48.Olympic year. Lovett has had a good year this year, but needs to

:02:49. > :02:58.rediscover form of old. The Hungarian has run a very quick 7.55

:02:59. > :03:11.personal best. Jarrod Eaton is the new American indoor champion. The

:03:12. > :03:23.top three to go through. Ali won the women's title yesterday. There were

:03:24. > :03:28.other precompetition favourites. They did not produce the form they

:03:29. > :03:51.would have liked. As ever, drama in the hurdles.

:03:52. > :04:00.Love it just got it on the day. 7.6 three. That is a seasoned's Best for

:04:01. > :04:10.him. We have not seen too much of Jarrod eaten. We have been chatting

:04:11. > :04:16.about starts and everybody else. I am going to bring in Tony. Look how

:04:17. > :04:23.high his set position is. What did you think of that? If you look at

:04:24. > :04:27.how close his feet are together, it is reminiscent to a bullet start

:04:28. > :04:37.when his feet are very close together. A lot of people tend to

:04:38. > :04:39.feel that gives them more power. It is 13.72 metres until the first

:04:40. > :05:12.hurdle. Confirmation of the result. Lawrence Clarke is in lane seven.

:05:13. > :05:21.MacLeod of Jamaica is one of the fastest in the world this year. This

:05:22. > :05:30.is a tough heat. Plenty of talent here. 7.65 is Laurence's personal

:05:31. > :05:41.best this season. He ran it a couple of times. He will need to be a bit

:05:42. > :05:49.quicker to go through. The Brazilian is the slowest in the field. All of

:05:50. > :05:54.the athlete get introduced when the finals are on. He is a bit of a

:05:55. > :06:05.character. He had a great year last year outdoors and again indoors this

:06:06. > :06:10.year. He continues to improve. The one thing you can say about Lawrence

:06:11. > :06:13.Clarke is, when he gets to a championship he usually find a

:06:14. > :06:21.little bit extra and performs above the season's form. He might have to

:06:22. > :06:31.do that here. The Cuban is the former world junior champion. It

:06:32. > :06:36.should not be too difficult to qualify at this stage. But indoors

:06:37. > :06:51.in the 60-metre hurdles there is no room for error. With the likes of

:06:52. > :06:59.McLeod in this it will be difficult. Lawrence will run his own race.

:07:00. > :07:07.There is a good crowd again. The Americans have certainly taken to

:07:08. > :07:16.these championships. They have had a pretty good one so far. I am not

:07:17. > :07:35.sure they have a big contender in this event, though.

:07:36. > :07:48.Did Clark get it? It is going to be very tight for the third spot on the

:07:49. > :07:52.line. McLeod was clear away. The two wittiest men in the field were away.

:07:53. > :08:12.Lawrence Clarke got a pretty good start, Tony. McLeod got away well.

:08:13. > :08:13.What do you think, Tony? It is the first three and the four fastest. It

:08:14. > :08:50.is very close. Do you know what? It is not good

:08:51. > :08:55.news for Lawrence Clarke. They have been given the same time. That is

:08:56. > :09:10.the official result. That will be an anxious wait to see

:09:11. > :09:15.if that will be quick enough to go through as the fastest loser.

:09:16. > :09:21.Apparently he is the fastest, but he has to wait and watch. This is the

:09:22. > :09:52.third heat. The Chinese have already had a

:09:53. > :10:01.pretty good Championships with some great sprinting in the 60 metres.

:10:02. > :10:09.They are capable of getting in amongst the action. Lawrence Clarke

:10:10. > :10:17.has joined the training group of this man. 7.41 is getting very close

:10:18. > :10:25.to the world's all-time top ten. It is the new French record. The

:10:26. > :10:38.fastest in the world for four years. That is an indication of how good

:10:39. > :10:43.that time is. The Spaniard was a former Cuban, but he is now running

:10:44. > :10:52.for Spain. Cleared to run for his new country last April. This race is

:10:53. > :11:06.not quite as loaded. The Greek record-holder indoors and

:11:07. > :12:05.outdoors. Another good start from the

:12:06. > :12:14.Frenchman. The Spaniard takes second. That is a bit of a surprise.

:12:15. > :12:17.Very tight for third on the line. The French man just underlining his

:12:18. > :12:23.dominance at the moment, certainly at this level. We will see him in

:12:24. > :12:28.the semifinal, but can he carry it right through to the final and

:12:29. > :12:33.finished off with a gold medal? He is at the moment the best 60-metre

:12:34. > :12:39.hurdler in the world. He is a nice hurdler as well. A little bit

:12:40. > :12:45.crouched perhaps. His technique is nice and smooth. It is incredibly

:12:46. > :12:47.smooth. He does looked crouched, he keeps his head down, but that keeps

:12:48. > :12:58.him tight and compact. This is the final heat in the first

:12:59. > :13:20.round. The Cubans set his personal best

:13:21. > :13:23.this year indoors, 7.7 zero. I am not sure I have had an athlete from

:13:24. > :13:45.French Polynesia yet to announce before.

:13:46. > :13:55.Spencer Adams of the United States finished second in the US

:13:56. > :14:16.Championships. A new name in terms of American hurdling.

:14:17. > :14:21.7.58, a new personal best for this season. That puts him right in the

:14:22. > :14:43.mix. Lagarde missed out in a medal in

:14:44. > :14:49.Beijing last year. Fourth place, so frustrated. The European indoor

:14:50. > :15:07.champion last year. That was a little weird. The triple

:15:08. > :15:12.jumper was on the runway. I do not know if he affected things or not.

:15:13. > :15:19.He caught my eye. I suspect we will not get a false start. There was a

:15:20. > :15:27.twitch from Adams. Watch the triple jumper. I guess the athletes can't

:15:28. > :15:29.see him. He caught my eye. It was that little slap down from his foot.

:15:30. > :16:00.I wonder if that put them off. Alan Bell, very clear about the

:16:01. > :16:05.behaviour of the athletes but very fair in terms of that. The green

:16:06. > :16:09.card means that it is not a warning for any of the athletes in

:16:10. > :16:15.particular said they are all starting with a clean slate. We were

:16:16. > :16:21.explaining yesterday about the rule you are going to mention about not

:16:22. > :16:26.being able to twitch, you have to be absolutely still as the gun goes.

:16:27. > :16:30.You must beat still because of pressure pads on the block. The

:16:31. > :16:35.officials used their discretion, they may have noticed something that

:16:36. > :16:43.triggered them and gave them the benefit of the doubt which is nice

:16:44. > :16:49.of them and away the should be. Safely away this time. Brathwaite

:16:50. > :16:57.struggling a little bit. Adams came through late and Brathwaite, they

:16:58. > :17:01.will be the three qualifiers. The Cuban athlete taking a tumble but

:17:02. > :17:07.Martin Odegaard, a much better starter than he is given credit for.

:17:08. > :17:12.A big man, yes he can get things wrong at times but he can start well

:17:13. > :17:19.and he does here. Away and nicely into his stride, is very familiar

:17:20. > :17:24.action, not always pretty but certainly very effective. That is a

:17:25. > :17:37.good performance from him. He will be delighted to start like that.

:17:38. > :17:41.7.48 is the winning time. Confirmation of the result of that

:17:42. > :17:47.final heat, a very swift 7.4 eight. Spencer Adams finishing quickly and

:17:48. > :17:58.through with Brathwaite also qualifying. Thomas, with 7.72, we'll

:17:59. > :18:04.go through as a fastest loser. It has taken a while to clear up the

:18:05. > :18:07.qualification because we had some close races. All of the men on the

:18:08. > :18:14.first sheet qualified by right but the next part of it, the small Q is

:18:15. > :18:18.for the fastest losers and there are three, not four, because in one

:18:19. > :18:25.race, they could not be separated though they gave them equal third

:18:26. > :18:31.spot. Finalists for the men's triple jump, 16 athletes in total, Nelson

:18:32. > :18:46.Arroyo, the champion of 2008, the Olympics, may feature. Bin Dong of

:18:47. > :18:56.China is the world leader possibly comes into this competition as

:18:57. > :19:01.favourite. Early stages, a man who changed his allegiance to Nigeria,

:19:02. > :19:09.good through the step phase and a good start. Looking at the jumps so

:19:10. > :19:15.far, only a couple of athletes making a mark. This ban nude leads

:19:16. > :19:27.the way but it is early on. He went off sideways, missing the parallel

:19:28. > :19:33.lines denoting the runway. He is of Nigeria now, a best of 16.48, around

:19:34. > :19:42.that, seasons best, 16.53, that takes the lead. Benjamin Kampl rate

:19:43. > :19:47.of France, one of two Frenchman competing in this final. 16

:19:48. > :19:57.athletes, we are still in the first round. He can certainly challenge

:19:58. > :20:05.the lead and he has. That looks like a jump that might take the lead.

:20:06. > :20:17.16.73 so far for the Nigerian. A good jump, a season best of 16.88,

:20:18. > :20:22.unusual landing there. 16.77 takes the lead for the Frenchman. Here is

:20:23. > :20:28.an interesting athlete, the pre-event favoured, Bin Dong of

:20:29. > :20:33.China, look at those personal best, 17.4 one, one of only two athletes

:20:34. > :20:38.in the field to have gone beyond 17 metres and would love to take the

:20:39. > :20:42.title here, only two Chinese athletes have ever won gold here in

:20:43. > :20:49.a world indoor Championships. Bin Dong looks favourite to do that,

:20:50. > :20:54.certainly on paper anyway, this is his opening jump, C what he has got.

:20:55. > :21:00.Good through the phases, the best jump we have seen so far by some

:21:01. > :21:05.margin. Just as the theory would have suggested beforehand looking at

:21:06. > :21:10.his season, he has dominated, he looks pleased with it. Good balance

:21:11. > :21:16.through this, the middle phase is crucial, kept the speed and chewed

:21:17. > :21:20.up the ground and executed very well with the pressure of the first

:21:21. > :21:28.round, it is beyond 17 metres that takes the lead. A great start for

:21:29. > :21:32.him. That is exactly what you want, the first round, put something out

:21:33. > :21:37.to make the other athletes think, put the pressure on them and take

:21:38. > :21:42.the impetus. An interesting athlete, Omar Craddock, possibly the most

:21:43. > :21:45.exuberant entrance to an athletic Stadium I have seen, half an hour

:21:46. > :21:53.ago when they were introduced to the home crowd. He was whipped up into a

:21:54. > :21:59.frenzy, not sure about the crowd but they are going along with it now,

:22:00. > :22:04.looking to respond from that big effort of Bin Dong. 17.18, Craddock

:22:05. > :22:13.looking to rally the support of the home crowd. Have to wait, all eyes

:22:14. > :22:20.on the triple jump runway for his first attempt. Hit the ground hard,

:22:21. > :22:24.forced himself in the air, not quite sure what that means, I don't think

:22:25. > :22:28.it is a celebration, I think they are leaps frustration, he knows that

:22:29. > :22:39.went wrong. Another final underway in the women's shot put. The welcome

:22:40. > :22:44.return of a champion of the event, there she is, Valerie Adams of New

:22:45. > :22:48.Zealand. Those are the two, it should be a two horse race, Michelle

:22:49. > :22:55.Carter, the American champion from last week in this stadium and the

:22:56. > :23:04.Hungarian athlete. First round of the shot put, that is a big throw

:23:05. > :23:17.from her. Doesn't look too pleased with it. It looks to be around the

:23:18. > :23:30.18-metre mark. Possibly the longest throw we have seen so far, 17.99.

:23:31. > :23:40.Julianne Karina Williams. May have just taken the lead. Third in the US

:23:41. > :23:54.indoor, 34 years of age, was an Olympic finalist in 2008. Our first

:23:55. > :23:56.throw over 18 metres. A welcome return to international major

:23:57. > :24:06.championship competition for Valerie Adams. Her first throw in this shot

:24:07. > :24:11.put final. Five years unbeaten, unbeatable in many ways, the big

:24:12. > :24:15.kiwi. Her fingers strapped up there but it was me and shoulder problems

:24:16. > :24:21.that kept her out of the sport for a couple of years, 18.49 takes the

:24:22. > :24:25.lead. I think that is Craddock getting a rub on his hamstring,

:24:26. > :24:33.clearly has an issue there. I think they call it the kinesiology table,

:24:34. > :24:39.it is clearly something classic for spring to is and jumpers alike. He

:24:40. > :24:44.did react strangely to that first jump, I don't know if it was

:24:45. > :24:51.frustration, we will find out soon. We move back to the track, three

:24:52. > :24:55.very competitive semifinal races in the women's 60 metres. Only the top

:24:56. > :25:02.two will go through. Dina Asher-Smith will go in the first of

:25:03. > :25:06.the three races. There is the line-up, she has Barbara Pierre in

:25:07. > :25:27.lane four, Pinto of Germany has been quick in lane three.

:25:28. > :25:35.Given the way the women's 60 metres is going, we saw some very quick

:25:36. > :25:40.sprinting which put one or two, who had not been in the frame beforehand

:25:41. > :25:46.into it. Pinto came here with a new personal best of 7.07, the German

:25:47. > :25:50.athlete running brilliantly this year. Look sluggish in qualification

:25:51. > :25:56.but nonetheless she will be quite pleased to be alongside Barbara

:25:57. > :26:03.Pierre. A new personal best, all-time top ten along with Dafne

:26:04. > :26:09.Schippers this winter with the seven flat, former Haitian athlete now

:26:10. > :26:13.running for the USA. Dina Asher-Smith, what a great talent,

:26:14. > :26:19.everyone talking about her prospects this year. She is moving through the

:26:20. > :26:24.ranks at a time when sprinting has an awful lot of talent around.

:26:25. > :26:28.Samuel is definitely there, another one to run a personal best this

:26:29. > :26:37.year. Was not far away from that in qualification. Kelly Ann Baptiste

:26:38. > :26:45.back from a doping suspension, a season best of 7.20 in lane seven.

:26:46. > :26:52.The Italian should have been in lane eight but not there. Dina

:26:53. > :26:56.Asher-Smith with a big opportunity but a huge task at hand, the women

:26:57. > :26:59.in lanes three and four have run quicker than she has ever run

:27:00. > :27:05.before, she may have to run a personal best. It may well be Pinto

:27:06. > :27:12.she has her eyes on, Dina Asher-Smith had a cracking start

:27:13. > :27:17.this morning, reaction time of 0.105, which is right on the limit.

:27:18. > :27:21.Needs a really good start, disappointing performance at the

:27:22. > :27:26.British trials by her own high standards. Can she make it through

:27:27. > :27:30.to the 60-metre final? Barbara Pierre, equal quickest in the world

:27:31. > :27:37.of this year, the American in lane four. Pierre gets away well, Dina

:27:38. > :27:41.Asher-Smith is with her, Pierre moving away, only the top two go

:27:42. > :27:48.through and Dina Asher-Smith goes through to the final, 7.05 Pierre, a

:27:49. > :27:51.cracking run from Dina Asher-Smith, all smiles, Pinto could not

:27:52. > :27:58.rediscover the form she has been throwing this year -- showing this

:27:59. > :28:02.year. Pierre very much a gold-medal contender here. Dafne Schippers will

:28:03. > :28:08.have to be good to beat her, there are others to come in the other

:28:09. > :28:13.semifinals, she is such a good starter, Pierre. Dina Asher-Smith

:28:14. > :28:17.did not get fazed. She gets out very well come a high-frequency, high

:28:18. > :28:23.cadence and turnover but if you look at the latter stages, there is a lot

:28:24. > :28:27.of work coming out the back, she runs off a very bent leg, if she

:28:28. > :28:32.stands up much taller she can get her hips over the top of her foot

:28:33. > :28:38.and she will run much quicker. Confirmation of the result, 7.06,

:28:39. > :28:44.Dina Asher-Smith with a season best 7.11, she needed to be good to make

:28:45. > :29:05.it through to the final. Second semifinal lines up like this.

:29:06. > :29:14.From the first semifinal, Samuel and Kelly and that is both ran 7.16 in

:29:15. > :29:18.third and fourth, that gives you an idea that to be a fastest loser, you

:29:19. > :29:24.probably have to be quicker than that. Tallow of Ivory Coast in

:29:25. > :29:36.three. Only two will be guaranteed a place

:29:37. > :29:53.in the final. Going grey well on the far side but

:29:54. > :30:02.right through the middle, Bowie takes the second spot, 7.09, tallow,

:30:03. > :30:08.who started well faded. Good starter, Bowie never as quick out of

:30:09. > :30:16.the blocks as the athlete next to her but always finishes strongly. We

:30:17. > :30:22.have already seen a Pierre with 7.06, they are consistently going

:30:23. > :30:25.under 7.1. For a moment, I thought Bowie would tighten up but she

:30:26. > :30:34.seemed to come through in the last ten metres or so.

:30:35. > :30:41.When you look at Dafne Schippers later, she has by far the best front

:30:42. > :30:45.side mechanics. What I mean by that is when her knee comes up you see

:30:46. > :30:47.the right angle between her thigh and the shin and she is applying a

:30:48. > :30:56.lot of force to the floor. If Fowey keeps improving, she will

:30:57. > :31:33.get a chance amongst the medal. Just clarify the job for Asher

:31:34. > :31:44.Villa, if she does not finish in the top two, she needs to run quicker

:31:45. > :31:49.than 7.1 six. If she is for that she will have to be quicker than 7.1

:31:50. > :31:54.five. Thomson is going to be a big threat in the final. She looked

:31:55. > :32:00.really good running a personal best in the heats. A medallist last year

:32:01. > :32:05.over 200 metres. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is her training

:32:06. > :32:13.partner. Will she be good enough to beat Dafne Schippers. She must be

:32:14. > :32:19.aware of Thompson's ability. But Dafne Schippers seems to carry on

:32:20. > :32:24.all in front of her. Never fazed. There is the British team captain.

:32:25. > :32:28.She ran brilliantly in the trials, did not look quite so good in

:32:29. > :32:34.qualification. She is at the height of her powers at the moment, but she

:32:35. > :32:40.will need to run very close to her personal best, if not speak it here.

:32:41. > :32:48.Santos of Brazil was in lane six. The Ecuadorian ran under 11 seconds

:32:49. > :33:00.last year for the first time outdoors.

:33:01. > :33:07.Dafne Schippers seems to keep getting better and better. When she

:33:08. > :33:14.ran seven flat, that is when you realised this was not just a

:33:15. > :33:25.heptathlete having a bit of a spread, that was serious running. In

:33:26. > :33:35.the all-time top ten in this event. The top two only. Asha Philip is in

:33:36. > :33:36.lane five. Watch out for Santos of Brazil. She will not be too far

:33:37. > :33:52.away. Taking a little while to settle.

:33:53. > :34:02.Thompson gets a good start, so does Asha Philip. Dafne Schippers is

:34:03. > :34:07.away. A good run by Asha Philip. I think that third spot will be quick

:34:08. > :34:12.enough. The winning time is 7.0 three. If they did not know that

:34:13. > :34:17.Thompson was going to be a threat, they do now. That is another

:34:18. > :34:21.personal best for the Jamaican. Much quicker out of the blocks than Dafne

:34:22. > :34:26.Schippers. Normally we see her running them down, but she could not

:34:27. > :34:31.do that there. Asha Philip got pulled through. We will check the

:34:32. > :34:38.times in a second, Toni, but that was a good race from all three

:34:39. > :34:41.athletes. Excellent race. Asha Philip does not get into her full

:34:42. > :34:52.extension the way Dafne Schippers does. The Dutch Lady's running

:34:53. > :34:58.stride length is two and a quarter. She hits the ground very hard. But

:34:59. > :35:05.at the beginning she does not have that extension early on to take her

:35:06. > :35:09.out. Good news for Asha Philip, the team captain. That will be good

:35:10. > :35:18.enough to go through as a fastest loser. She makes it through to the

:35:19. > :35:22.60 metres final. That is the full line-up. Four women running under

:35:23. > :35:41.7.1 zero. To conclude the second round.

:35:42. > :35:48.Michelle Carter of the United States had a foul in the first round. It is

:35:49. > :36:03.down that left-hand sector. It is bang on the 90-metre line. No one

:36:04. > :36:14.has gone beyond that yet. 18.49 is the lead. Now Carter takes the lead.

:36:15. > :36:24.Dawn of China in the third round leads the way in this meant's triple

:36:25. > :36:30.jump final. That looks better. A big jump from Dong. He took the lead in

:36:31. > :36:36.the first round. He has settled, hasn't he? He has got his tail up

:36:37. > :36:42.and he is going in pursuit of a bigger jump. He knows he has got

:36:43. > :36:48.more in him. Relatively unchallenged it has to be said. Only one other

:36:49. > :36:58.athlete on 17 metres exactly. He has extended his lead at the halfway

:36:59. > :37:00.stage. The Hungarian is in a medal position, even though we are only in

:37:01. > :37:14.the third round. She has thrown beyond 19 metres.

:37:15. > :37:22.That is a big throw from her. I really big throw. She was quick off

:37:23. > :37:27.her feet. Her right foot turns over quickly and she transfers the four

:37:28. > :37:36.is up to her right hip. Look at that, she goes into first place.

:37:37. > :37:52.That is a better effort for Valerie Adams. The last piece in the jigsaw

:37:53. > :37:57.in her rehabilitation from surgery. It is a physical thing, but also an

:37:58. > :38:04.emotional one. Valerie Adams takes the lead in the third round. A good

:38:05. > :38:10.throw, Toni. She blocked the left shoulder and she got much more

:38:11. > :38:14.purchase on the shot to throw it. The pursed lips of Michelle Carter

:38:15. > :38:22.is a telling sign that she means business. She has just seen her main

:38:23. > :38:34.competitor, Valerie Adams, go out to 19.25.

:38:35. > :38:45.Another big throw, possibly beyond the 19-metre mark. The fireworks are

:38:46. > :38:49.beginning to be lit. That ripple effect of one athlete dropping a

:38:50. > :39:00.throw out and competitive instinct kicking in. 19.3 one. Carter takes

:39:01. > :39:05.the lead. It is a good competition. Carter has gone from gold and two

:39:06. > :39:13.bronze and back to gold. It is incredible.

:39:14. > :39:20.We are now in the fourth round of this triple jump final. Dong has

:39:21. > :39:25.just extended his lead. That is a good jump from Hesse. That is much

:39:26. > :39:49.better from him. It looks as though he gone beyond 70

:39:50. > :39:51.metres -- 17 metres. It is a personal best. What a time to do it.

:39:52. > :40:11.He goes into second place. Another big throw. 19.31 is her best

:40:12. > :40:20.so far. The home crowd are liking what they see. She beat Valerie

:40:21. > :40:27.Adams three times last year. Maybe it has given her confidence that she

:40:28. > :40:36.can beat the mighty Kiwi. No improvement, but a good series all

:40:37. > :40:42.the same. Accent eat is ahead. We have seen Cradock with his hamstring

:40:43. > :40:52.issues, but he is still in and the glasses are back on. He is in

:40:53. > :40:53.seventh place. He needs something in excess of 16.89 or his competition

:40:54. > :41:11.is over. He attacked that well. It is around

:41:12. > :41:22.17 metres if it is a legal jump. He wanted so badly. I am guessing that

:41:23. > :41:29.is a foul. He does not look happy. His feat came down underneath him. I

:41:30. > :41:33.am interested to see why he has got that reaction because it looked like

:41:34. > :41:40.a decent jump. It was all or nothing. He is way behind the board,

:41:41. > :41:49.27 centimetres. That is a lot to lose. Plus the wood is a much better

:41:50. > :41:56.surface to jump off. Fifth place, his competition is over.

:41:57. > :42:02.16.89 in round four. He is guaranteed to go to the last round

:42:03. > :42:21.because only four athletes remain. Another jump around the 17 metres

:42:22. > :42:32.mark. An event that set the world alight last year.

:42:33. > :42:46.Neither of the athletes who got 18 metres last year are here this year.

:42:47. > :42:59.Jonathan Edwards is the outdoor world record-holder of 18.2 nine.

:43:00. > :43:09.17.92 is the indoor record. 16.89, Nelson Evora stays in fourth place.

:43:10. > :43:17.He is in the bronze medal position. But that is possibly an improvement

:43:18. > :43:27.if that is valid. He looked angry. I quite liked it.

:43:28. > :43:41.He did well to hold onto that. A slight improvement for him. Dong,

:43:42. > :43:47.17.29 is his best so far. We are in the fifth round. He looks capable of

:43:48. > :43:56.more. He has attacked every round with absolute vigour as he does

:43:57. > :44:04.again. I think he likes it. A good jump for Dong. He is putting

:44:05. > :44:12.together a pretty healthy series. It looks as though he has just added a

:44:13. > :44:22.third longer jump, more than his lead of 17.2 nine. He is ahead of

:44:23. > :44:30.the German youngster. But he knows they are clipping at his heels.

:44:31. > :44:35.There is only one job remaining. He is trying to stamp his authority. He

:44:36. > :44:41.has done that from the very start. He is inching away from the pack.

:44:42. > :44:46.Dong of China might be on his way to an historic gold medal for China.

:44:47. > :44:52.On no to the meant's 800 metres final. What a race we have in

:44:53. > :45:03.prospect. Mohammed man is trying to make history. The defending champion

:45:04. > :45:23.is trying to make it three in a row. He came to the championships as the

:45:24. > :45:27.favourite, may still start as the favourite but this is one of the

:45:28. > :45:33.more open races. A huge talent, the 27-year-old Qatari athlete. This

:45:34. > :45:47.will be a tactical race. No natural front runners, Mohammed and man not

:45:48. > :45:59.in the best shape. He has won it twice, watchful the Burundi athlete

:46:00. > :46:04.on the inside, Burundi have only had one previous medal in the

:46:05. > :46:14.championships before, back in 1993. A green card so no warning for any

:46:15. > :46:22.of the athletes. Paula Radcliffe is alongside me, men's 800 metres

:46:23. > :46:28.final. It is an open race, we said Duval will be the favourite, he had

:46:29. > :46:32.a job on his hands to decide what to do here, he could try and take it

:46:33. > :46:37.out, but Boris Berian decides he wants to take it on, a real scrap

:46:38. > :46:41.going on but hind him. A lot of bumping and barging but he decided

:46:42. > :46:51.he was better off at the front, running strongly and safely out of

:46:52. > :46:55.trouble. That is a crazy pace, 23.92 and he is not slowing down, Boris

:46:56. > :47:01.Berian, I wonder if the occasion is getting to him. Did not perform well

:47:02. > :47:06.at the world outdoor Championships and this is a very quick pace being

:47:07. > :47:18.set by the American. He is full of confidence. Look at the time, 49.73,

:47:19. > :47:23.that is world-record pace. He has to be full of confidence to keep going

:47:24. > :47:28.into the third and fourth lap, look at them coming down the back

:47:29. > :47:32.straight, putting in a surge, similar to that he used in the heats

:47:33. > :47:38.to such effect but it has not made any inroads yet on Boris Berian.

:47:39. > :47:41.Wilson kicked heater broke the world record in the world indoor

:47:42. > :47:45.Championships all the way back in 1997 and Boris Berian set off with

:47:46. > :47:48.that kind of pace, surely those legs have to start give way beneath him

:47:49. > :47:56.now as the others come charging through. He is trying to last it

:47:57. > :47:59.out, there is a shove and a push, can the American Hang on here, they

:48:00. > :48:04.are all treading water, you might have just done enough. Boris Berian

:48:05. > :48:14.is going to win the gold medal for the United States. What courage, you

:48:15. > :48:21.might have said watching that that it was a crazy way to run but none

:48:22. > :48:29.of the others could content with a 49 first 400 metres and then

:48:30. > :48:33.something like 56 for his second 400 metres but let us hand it to Boris

:48:34. > :48:39.Berian, what a piece of front running from the American. He is the

:48:40. > :48:44.one who takes the 100th gold medal of the world indoors for his

:48:45. > :48:49.country. He wanted that, it was definitely hurting around the last

:48:50. > :48:56.lap and he knew he still had the lead. And possibly we will see going

:48:57. > :49:03.into that lap, by the end, I think it was hard but the favour was done

:49:04. > :49:10.as he came around there and clipped Balla as they go into this bend. And

:49:11. > :49:15.put him off the rest of his race and he was not able to catch up, as they

:49:16. > :49:18.came into the straight, Doris Beria knows he has got the lead and you

:49:19. > :49:25.can see the determination on his face and he doesn't want to let the

:49:26. > :49:30.gold medal goes. That was a war of attrition, he backed himself to do

:49:31. > :49:36.that. You wanted to run the race out of everybody, the last 200 metres,

:49:37. > :49:41.28.46, you don't often see that in the last 200 of a world title

:49:42. > :49:47.800-metre race. Certainly not for the man who wins the race. The

:49:48. > :49:51.judges may have a look at that but that is what the result says at the

:49:52. > :49:54.moment. Boris Berian with the gold medal. Another silver medal for

:49:55. > :50:09.Burundi. After being a top finisher at the

:50:10. > :50:19.world indoors, I am so excited right now. It was a strong run, a last 228

:50:20. > :50:25.seconds. I am so happy, I got the help from the crowd, it got me

:50:26. > :50:30.excited. Yelling as loud as they can, helping me go. Your first major

:50:31. > :50:35.international gold medal, you were in a different place a couple of

:50:36. > :50:41.years ago. Two years ago I was working at McDonald's. I needed some

:50:42. > :50:49.way of getting money, I used that, it was a plan to focus on getting

:50:50. > :51:12.money and make this dream come true. We are in the fifth round. 17.91

:51:13. > :51:15.coming up on the computer here, an improvement, she goes into sixth

:51:16. > :51:29.place but is the end of her competition.

:51:30. > :51:33.The coaches looking on, offering words of wisdom. It is too late now,

:51:34. > :51:53.her competition is over. 17.67 is her best so far. It is

:51:54. > :52:08.high, is it long? Maybe not, on the 17-metre mark. It looks as though

:52:09. > :52:15.the medallists, the top four has been sealed, about to be sealed, no

:52:16. > :52:26.improvement. Hass to settle for a place as we head towards the final

:52:27. > :52:28.stages. You just sense that it is building up to be a showdown between

:52:29. > :52:39.Carter and Adams. Look at Borrell, almost into a medal

:52:40. > :53:04.position. Max Hess of Germany, very impressive

:53:05. > :53:10.in the fourth round, 17.14, a lifetime best it was for the

:53:11. > :53:21.19-year-old. Looking for support again. He is a fraction behind the

:53:22. > :53:27.lead of Bin Dong. 19 centimetres, less than the length of his shoe

:53:28. > :53:34.behind the Chinese athlete, a big jump, a foul in the fifth round, can

:53:35. > :53:40.he repeat it? I think it is good. Will it challenge the lead of Bin

:53:41. > :53:50.Dong, I think he knows it won't. It is his last chance, this is the

:53:51. > :53:57.final round of the triple jump. An anxious wait to see if he has

:53:58. > :54:04.improved on the silver medal. No, he hasn't. Another effort beyond 17

:54:05. > :54:16.metres, matching his best, silver medal. As we stand, third-place,

:54:17. > :54:29.courtesy of the 19.01 in the third round. But at the end of round five,

:54:30. > :54:35.she will get her last throw in the final round, 19.08, no improvement

:54:36. > :54:49.opposition but her best of the afternoon. Next up, the formidable

:54:50. > :54:54.athlete, Valerie Adams. At times she thought she might have been done in

:54:55. > :55:03.terms of competition. She has won this before. She is in second place

:55:04. > :55:10.at the moment behind Carter and that doesn't look like it will make any

:55:11. > :55:23.difference. Only one throw remaining for the big Kiwi. Six feet four, 120

:55:24. > :55:36.kilos, 19.25 in the third round. Triple jump, the man in the bronze

:55:37. > :55:45.medal position. Last jump of his world indoor Championships in

:55:46. > :55:51.Portland. 17.04, I think he knows it is not going to be any better. Than

:55:52. > :56:03.a bronze medal for him. 17.14 in silver. Hess has finished. Bin Dong

:56:04. > :56:10.of China, 17.33, it looks as though China taken their third ever gold

:56:11. > :56:24.medal. 17.09, a slight improvement but a bronze medal. Bin Dong has

:56:25. > :56:27.been brilliant throughout this competition, 17.18 in the first

:56:28. > :56:38.round would have been enough to win it anyway. Silver is 17.14, he has

:56:39. > :56:42.jumped 17.29 and 17.3 three, three jumps that would have won. He has

:56:43. > :56:52.the pleasure of a free jump, he knows he has won and has the gold.

:56:53. > :56:56.No. Possibly not committed, already starting to celebrate inside. A

:56:57. > :57:06.great performance, the pre-event favourite comes with pressure and he

:57:07. > :57:09.handled it well. A great performance, 17.33, he has enjoyed

:57:10. > :57:22.the competition, the smile on his face and start to finish. It is a

:57:23. > :57:37.gold medal for China will. Confirmation of the triple jump.

:57:38. > :57:46.The line-up for the women's 400 metres final, Ashley Spencer of the

:57:47. > :57:56.USA in six, Oluwakemi Adekoya in five.

:57:57. > :58:07.Spencer has the speed to win the race and has a good draw on the

:58:08. > :58:12.outside in lane six because she performed so well in the semifinal,

:58:13. > :58:19.winning has Simi final, as did Adekoya, who may well start as the

:58:20. > :58:23.favourite here. But it is all about who is going to get to the front and

:58:24. > :58:31.can you stay there and control it over the first 200 metres. Hayes had

:58:32. > :58:36.a tussle with Adekoya but came out second best in the semifinal but she

:58:37. > :58:40.is the quickest in the field but finds herself in lane four.

:58:41. > :58:53.Stephanie and MacPherson of Jamaica is inside this young lady here from

:58:54. > :59:24.Poland. She was fourth, two years ago.

:59:25. > :59:43.Spencer will be very wary of the speed of Adekoya. Adekoya is a

:59:44. > :59:46.former junior champion herself. The two Americans are in lanes four and

:59:47. > :59:59.six. Adekoya is in lane five. Spencer really needs to attack this.

:00:00. > :00:06.Adekoya already started quickly through the first 70 or 80 metres.

:00:07. > :00:13.Hayes is very much trying to chase her down and she might hit the first

:00:14. > :00:18.200 metres. Indeed the American has done so. McPherson is trying to get

:00:19. > :00:27.involved. Adekoya comes back again and comes straight across. Can

:00:28. > :00:31.Spencer work off those front two? Adekoya has stayed strong in each of

:00:32. > :00:37.her rate is so far. This time she is coming under pressure from the

:00:38. > :00:43.Americans. McPherson is closing. Adekoya is in the league. McPherson

:00:44. > :00:48.is on the outside. Adekoya is going to take the gold medal. Spencer gets

:00:49. > :00:57.the silver, and Hayes gets the bronze. That was all about getting

:00:58. > :01:01.to the front through that first 200 metres and doing what she has done

:01:02. > :01:05.in each of her raters, staying really strong. Spencer was a bit all

:01:06. > :01:16.over the shop and did not start enough quickly for me. She came to

:01:17. > :01:23.inside for the silver medal. But Adekoya, 51.45, that is a new Asian

:01:24. > :01:28.indoor record. Toni, that is where it was one. She came back across and

:01:29. > :01:35.got in front and controlled it again in the last 200? This is the

:01:36. > :01:43.shortest distance between two points is a straight line. She went

:01:44. > :01:47.diagonally into lane one, Hayes, but Adekoya took a long diagonal and ran

:01:48. > :02:00.less distance and conserve energy and ended up at the front and ran

:02:01. > :02:08.off it. You wouldn't call this a vintage race, but it was an open

:02:09. > :02:13.race. There are a few British athletes who chose not to come here

:02:14. > :02:18.probably thinking, it was that a title I could have one? But she is

:02:19. > :02:22.the woman who perform well in each of her races and she is a

:02:23. > :02:26.well-deserved gold-medallist. Silver and bronze for the USA. Confirmation

:02:27. > :02:49.of the result. The road to real's Olympics is a

:02:50. > :02:59.long way, so what Mo Farah put in the extra miles this Saturday on BBC

:03:00. > :03:04.One. A great weekend in prospect at Cardiff and hopefully he will be in

:03:05. > :03:09.gold medal form. He was a spectator yesterday and today's sell-out crowd

:03:10. > :03:13.continues to enjoy a packed schedule and we can catch up now with more

:03:14. > :03:22.action from the field. British interest in this meant's hijab

:03:23. > :03:28.final. Robert Grabartz, the European champion from 2012. It is a good

:03:29. > :03:32.start for him. I say start, but he has jumped already. It is a good

:03:33. > :03:38.clearance, he looks pleased. He knocked the bar off on his first

:03:39. > :03:50.jump at 2.2 zero. It was a bit scrappy. Failure is count in terms

:03:51. > :04:01.of count back. Attention turns to Erik Kynard. That was also 2.2 five.

:04:02. > :04:05.The crowd enjoyed that. There you go, that is how to do it. Milking

:04:06. > :04:19.the crowd and milking the support. The effort will not necessarily be

:04:20. > :04:24.significant in terms of the medals judging by the standard of global

:04:25. > :04:29.high jumping. This is the oldest athlete in the final, 36 years of

:04:30. > :04:40.age. Fourth place. Can she improve it? No, she cannot. 18.38 is her

:04:41. > :04:43.best throw. It came in the penultimate throw of the

:04:44. > :04:50.competition. She looks pleased with that, though. Just three athletes

:04:51. > :04:51.remaining, showcasing this last round, in reverse order of their

:04:52. > :05:18.ranking. She is known as a championship

:05:19. > :05:36.performer. . Valerie Adams is also in the mix.

:05:37. > :05:48.Fourth in the World Championships last year. But she produces a

:05:49. > :05:58.massive throw in the last round. Marton is not giving much away with

:05:59. > :06:07.her celebration. It is an indoor record. A Hungarian indoor record.

:06:08. > :06:12.More importantly it puts her out in front and a gold medal with two

:06:13. > :06:20.throws remaining. This is the most experienced, possibly, in the world

:06:21. > :06:28.in any event. Unbeaten for five years until last year. Just getting

:06:29. > :06:39.ahead of herself with her top half, her legs not really involved. Work

:06:40. > :06:44.to be done in terms of her comeback. So, Marton may have just taken the

:06:45. > :06:50.gold. Adams has to settle for bronze. But one athlete stands

:06:51. > :06:58.between Marton and a gold medal for Hungary.

:06:59. > :07:07.Michelle Carter of the United States takes to the circle for the last

:07:08. > :07:16.time. There is a huge roar from the home crowd here in Portland. They

:07:17. > :07:27.have seen her lead taken from her. She has competed brilliantly. Can

:07:28. > :07:33.she do it again? It is enormous! Absolutely huge from Michelle

:07:34. > :07:43.Carter. What a brilliant throat. She saved her best for last. 20.2 one.

:07:44. > :07:51.The longest throw in the world this year. Absolutely brilliant. She

:07:52. > :07:58.needed that impetus of Marton taking the lead from her. What a

:07:59. > :08:06.competitive effort. USA have their 101st gold medal. You have got to

:08:07. > :08:11.hand it to her. She went into the lead, it was taken off her, she

:08:12. > :08:17.responded. She had to wait for Valerie Adams to take her last round

:08:18. > :08:23.before she had a chance to respond to the big throw of Marton. Marton

:08:24. > :08:32.must have thought she may be had it when she saw Valerie Adams not go

:08:33. > :08:39.beyond her throat. 20.20 one. The only athlete to go beyond 20 metres

:08:40. > :08:47.this year. Gold for Michelle Carter of the United States. There has been

:08:48. > :08:55.good support for the Americans on home soil. Erik Kynard is geeing up

:08:56. > :09:04.the crowd. A surprise Olympic silver in 2012. That was in London. He

:09:05. > :09:11.competed really well there. If athletes get a taste of a rostrum,

:09:12. > :09:12.they tend to return to it. That was a great effort, a great performance

:09:13. > :09:30.at 2.2 nine. Daylight between him and the buyer.

:09:31. > :09:35.He has jumped 2.34 the past, his best from this year. A clean sheet

:09:36. > :09:47.so far. His competition is unfolding nicely.

:09:48. > :10:01.He makes it look incredibly easy. The Prince of high jump. Look at

:10:02. > :10:03.that clearance. That is why he is the pre-event favourite. The second

:10:04. > :10:35.highest jump in the world ever. That is better. He took off a long

:10:36. > :10:45.way from that. Here we go... Yes... There you go.

:10:46. > :10:53.Good celebrations from him. But a number of athletes are still

:10:54. > :11:01.involved, seven or eight. He is one of them.

:11:02. > :11:09.Also with a failure at his first attempt, running from the opposite

:11:10. > :11:13.side. That was a great clearance. He kept his width on that and trusted

:11:14. > :11:24.the angle of his approach and he did not cut the corner of.

:11:25. > :11:36.He has jumped 2.30 this year. His lifetime best is 2.3 six.

:11:37. > :11:45.This height has been interesting. It has asked questions of most of the

:11:46. > :11:52.finalists. Some errors are starting to creep in as the bar has been

:11:53. > :11:57.raised. A second time clearance for the Greek high jumper. Can Robert

:11:58. > :12:10.Grabartz of Great Britain join them? Olympic bronze medal in 2012, the

:12:11. > :12:15.European champion coming back from that surgery. That is better. That

:12:16. > :12:21.is the celebration that we have seen before that we have missed for a

:12:22. > :12:22.couple of years now. Great to see him back in action and getting in

:12:23. > :12:46.amongst it. Chris Baker of Great Britain. His

:12:47. > :12:52.last attempt. That is better. A huge jump earlier this year of 2.3 six.

:12:53. > :12:59.Showing championship temperament as well as an ability to jump high. A

:13:00. > :13:07.much deserved and enjoyable celebration. The next height is two

:13:08. > :13:15.point 33. Chris Baker will be amongst the athletes to attempt it.

:13:16. > :13:25.There are eight athlete still involved. We are yet to be at the

:13:26. > :13:30.stage where medals will be decided. But here is an athlete who came into

:13:31. > :13:37.this final with huge expectations. Unbeaten, has the highest jump in

:13:38. > :13:42.the world this year of 2.3 eight. That he is carrying two files.

:13:43. > :13:48.That was the last chance for Gianmarco Temberi to stay involved

:13:49. > :13:54.and he does. That would have been a shock if he had gone out because he

:13:55. > :13:59.has been talking the talk in the build-up to this high jump final. He

:14:00. > :14:05.said, I am scared of no one. He said he is also not scared of 2.4 zero.

:14:06. > :14:13.Judging by that performance he might be capable. That will be a huge sigh

:14:14. > :15:10.of relief for him. Next is the 400 metres final.

:15:11. > :15:27.Two athletes from Trinidad and Tobago. He is the second fastest in

:15:28. > :15:29.the world this year, really difficult for him from lane one. How

:15:30. > :15:46.Rune, I wonder what he will do. The Kenyan store this man could come

:15:47. > :15:56.and get a medal but was not so good in the semifinal I am not sure he

:15:57. > :16:10.will figure, at his best, he would have been the third qualifier in the

:16:11. > :16:15.semifinals. Finds himself on the very difficult inside lane. This is

:16:16. > :16:26.the man we haven't talked about, from grenade, -- grenade, can he

:16:27. > :16:38.hold off Pavel Maslak, who will get to the front after the first 200

:16:39. > :16:42.metres? The men's 400-metre final. Taplin gets the best start, Pavel

:16:43. > :16:49.Maslak lost half a yard but inside, Lindores started well, Haroun with

:16:50. > :16:54.work to do. Tying to run controlled and he may just the able to ease

:16:55. > :16:59.himself into the lead here but Taplin is not having any of it. They

:17:00. > :17:04.have got it to themselves at the moment, Haroun absolutely nowhere, a

:17:05. > :17:09.big gap to the others chasing down for the bronze medal at this point,

:17:10. > :17:13.Haroun trying to get going but a lot of ground to make upward. Pavel

:17:14. > :17:19.Maslak trying to pounds but has the man from grenade got enough to hold

:17:20. > :17:23.him off. He is finishing very quickly, just going backwards and

:17:24. > :17:29.look at the finish, Pavel Maslak hands-on for the gold medal, Haroun

:17:30. > :17:33.the silver, Pavel Maslak judged it perfectly, let Taplin run himself

:17:34. > :17:39.out of gas in front of him and didn't try to get past when he knew

:17:40. > :17:46.he was using way too much energy. What about Haroun? Could not get

:17:47. > :17:50.going on the first lap, way too much left, didn't judge it as well as he

:17:51. > :17:55.might have done but he was in the difficult lane three but you have to

:17:56. > :18:01.hand it to Pavel Maslak, two European titles and two world

:18:02. > :18:07.titles, superb indoor 400 metre running from the Czech Republic man.

:18:08. > :18:12.Look how quickly Haroun finishes. He knows he almost had it. It is

:18:13. > :18:19.incredible, Taplin got to the Bell first. He made the longer diagonal,

:18:20. > :18:28.he did not get to the inside lane until after the finishing line but

:18:29. > :18:35.20.89, paid the price, lactic acid build-up and Pavel Maslak was able

:18:36. > :18:39.to come round in the last 60 metres. Congratulations to Pavel Maslak, he

:18:40. > :18:43.uses his head as well, sometimes you have to accept you will not get to

:18:44. > :18:49.the front. The result of the 400 metres final, Pavel Maslak winning

:18:50. > :18:58.in 45.44 ahead of the fast finishing Haroun.

:18:59. > :19:06.In the women's triple jump, it was the Venezuelan, Yulimar Rojas with

:19:07. > :19:07.her only valid jump of the competition, a second-round effort

:19:08. > :19:17.of 14.4 one. A season 's best that the German of

:19:18. > :19:36.14.3 zero. There was disappointment for Britain

:19:37. > :19:39.in the women's 800-metre heats with only the winners of each heat and

:19:40. > :19:43.three fastest losers qualifying, Lynsey Sharp missed out after

:19:44. > :19:49.finishing second in her heat while Adelle Tracey found the paste too

:19:50. > :19:53.fast in her first senior World Championships, finishing in fourth

:19:54. > :19:57.position. Next is the women's 1500 metres final with the fastest

:19:58. > :20:06.qualifier being the European champion Sifan Hassan of the

:20:07. > :20:15.Netherlands. She is grimacing into the home straight, she will take the

:20:16. > :20:25.gold medal. Who is going to get the gold here? Hassan kicks away. She

:20:26. > :20:34.wins the gold. It is a race where there is a standing favourite, the

:20:35. > :20:38.Kenyan well versed in racing in America. The favourite is Sifan

:20:39. > :20:45.Hassan but she has three good Ethiopians up against. The world

:20:46. > :20:48.indoor silver-medallist two years ago, Duncan of Australia having a

:20:49. > :20:58.good indoor season, a new personal best. This is the race favourite,

:20:59. > :21:03.Sifan Hassan, former Ethiopian who moved to the Netherlands in 2008 on

:21:04. > :21:07.winning this title or Webb back in 1985 with Elly van Holst, can she

:21:08. > :21:18.make it another one for the Netherlands here. The Polish athlete

:21:19. > :21:21.would do well to get among the medals because you would expect,

:21:22. > :21:30.this world juniors of a medallist and her team-mates, the young woman

:21:31. > :21:37.who beat her to that world junior title to compete. As they try, the

:21:38. > :21:47.triumvirate, of Ethiopian athletes taking an Sifan Hassan. Hassan has

:21:48. > :21:54.often had to content with racing at 1500 metres and 3000 metres on

:21:55. > :22:03.occasion. She hasn't had interesting preparation, running good cross

:22:04. > :22:10.country races at the season. I remember chatting to her in Glasgow

:22:11. > :22:15.and she said this was always on the cards for her. Not all athletes when

:22:16. > :22:20.they are planning an Olympic medal would take on a world indoor

:22:21. > :22:34.Championships but she has decided it is a title she wants to win. The

:22:35. > :22:39.only question about Hassan is that she always used to start slowly and

:22:40. > :22:42.run at the back for a lap or two, I enjoyed listening to her chat

:22:43. > :22:48.because she is an intelligent athlete, she does not use that

:22:49. > :22:51.tactic quite as much these days. I wonder if part of the reason for

:22:52. > :22:57.wanting to come here is to get more race Baptists so she wakes up and

:22:58. > :23:06.gets to practice the tactical side of it. -- race practice. The

:23:07. > :23:12.American champion, Martinez, probably could have gone in the 800

:23:13. > :23:17.metres but chose the 1500. I think for her to get the medal here she

:23:18. > :23:22.would have to be pretty brave because the pace of this race will

:23:23. > :23:35.change, the Ethiopians may try and mess up Hassan's game plan. The two

:23:36. > :23:40.of them just 19 years of age. Some really good Ethiopian young talent

:23:41. > :23:50.there. The women's 1500 metres final. Seven and a half laps of the

:23:51. > :23:56.track. Just to prove us wrong, Hassan goes straight to the back the

:23:57. > :24:09.three Ethiopians watching her straightaway. Happy to gather around

:24:10. > :24:15.her. There is Melissa Duncan, deciding, she has got to the World

:24:16. > :24:21.Championship final, she is not going to trot round and let people out

:24:22. > :24:26.kick her in the late stages. That is to be applauded I guess. It is good

:24:27. > :24:31.for her, she knows there is no way she can live with the likes of the

:24:32. > :24:36.others and certainly in the last couple of laps, she wants to run a

:24:37. > :24:41.good honest race, walked off having done herself justice out there and

:24:42. > :24:47.given herself a shot of running a good time. Brenda Martinez moving

:24:48. > :24:50.into fourth place, she will no doubt have been inspired by Boris Berian

:24:51. > :24:56.to win that men's 800 metres earlier. He is coached by her

:24:57. > :25:03.husband and coach and that will have inspired her and the home crowd to

:25:04. > :25:09.give it your best. I do feel that over 1500, when it goes fast, she is

:25:10. > :25:14.maybe going to be at a disadvantage to the likes of Hassan. As soon as

:25:15. > :25:19.Hassan made a move, Seyaum tried to cover it and almost ripped up her

:25:20. > :25:27.team-mate. Hassan had the look is well and sentence something had

:25:28. > :25:33.happened. After a 65 first lap, Melissa Duncan not going that fast

:25:34. > :25:37.at the front. Hassan has decided enough is enough and is closing the

:25:38. > :25:40.gap and the others stretched out a bit and Martinez running a canny

:25:41. > :25:46.race at this point, it would have been better if it was a slower race

:25:47. > :25:52.so she could use her 800-metre pace. Hassan gradually closing the gap to

:25:53. > :25:59.Melissa Duncan. I think Hassan did get a bit clipped in that tumble but

:26:00. > :26:04.she seems fine now and has closed the gap. I think she recognises the

:26:05. > :26:07.danger in the 1500 metres, it is not often someone gets that kind of gap

:26:08. > :26:14.but they can hold onto it and you do not want them to have that big a

:26:15. > :26:17.lead in the world indoor final. Melissa Duncan finding everyone

:26:18. > :26:22.budging on her shoulder with three laps to go. Sifan Hassan in second

:26:23. > :26:30.place, Seyaum has tracked every single step, Brenda Martinez moving

:26:31. > :26:34.on the outside. Now, Hassan moves to the front for the first time, Seyaum

:26:35. > :26:40.follows as you would expect. Through 1000 metres in 2.46, Melissa Duncan,

:26:41. > :26:48.almost getting a nudge over the curb. Seyaum clipping her a bit and

:26:49. > :26:52.whooshing Melissa Duncan, now, Sifan Hassan controlling this race. I den

:26:53. > :26:59.think she has made any huge effort yet but is trying to control it from

:27:00. > :27:05.the front. Seyaum in second place, Tsegai in third, Brenda Martinez

:27:06. > :27:09.making a move on the outside. Hassan with 300 metres to go, there to be

:27:10. > :27:13.shot at, she doesn't mind being at the front, a good front runner but

:27:14. > :27:18.the Ethiopians bind her have pace and they will know they can attack

:27:19. > :27:24.in the last 200 metres. Martinez desperate to get involved. Seyaum

:27:25. > :27:29.trying to go past but Hassan has nothing of it, these two battling it

:27:30. > :27:35.out down the back straight. Tsegai being left, Seyaum goes again, she

:27:36. > :27:39.knows she wants to get in front before the final bend but it will

:27:40. > :27:45.not be the case, Hassan hangs on again, she is full of fighting

:27:46. > :27:48.spirit. She opens up a metre or so, Seyaum trying to attack again but

:27:49. > :27:55.Seyaum act-macro Hassan will hang on, she wins the title. Seyaum

:27:56. > :28:02.second, Tsegai in third and a big up to fourth. That is a victory that

:28:03. > :28:06.will be popular in the ranks of women's 1500 metre running, she is a

:28:07. > :28:11.popular athlete on the circuit and she is rewarded with the gold medal

:28:12. > :28:15.for her country. You can go all the way back to Elly van Holst in 1985

:28:16. > :28:21.when they last won this title, a very long time ago. Sifan Hassan,

:28:22. > :28:28.she will be watching her big rival go in the 3000 metres in these

:28:29. > :28:32.indoor Championships and the two will rejoin battle in the Olympic

:28:33. > :28:39.Games but here is the clip. She just wanted to make a move out and I

:28:40. > :28:44.think they got a bit of a push but look at this battle on the last lap.

:28:45. > :28:50.A really good last lap from all of the runners but particular Hassan,

:28:51. > :28:55.29.8 in the last 200 metres, every time Seyaum tries to come past, she

:28:56. > :28:58.picked it up a little bit more and held her. She tried again and when

:28:59. > :29:03.she tried finally here with 50 metres to go, she knew there was

:29:04. > :29:07.nothing more she could give an Hassan knew as well, a smile on her

:29:08. > :29:14.face as she was moving away as they came over the line. Just really nice

:29:15. > :29:21.to see. Last year, as you said, it did sting her to run as well as she

:29:22. > :29:27.did in Monaco and to be blown away, and then to run a 1.57 in the 800

:29:28. > :29:32.metres in Beijing and still not get close so it was good for her to come

:29:33. > :29:38.out and win a major world title and to know the work she has put in over

:29:39. > :29:42.the winter has her in a good place. A good one, we talk about Mo Farah

:29:43. > :29:46.but Sifan Hassan has come through the Dutch system, it is not like she

:29:47. > :29:51.like she transferred, she went there as a child refugee and was picked up

:29:52. > :29:56.at school as a good runner and came into the Dutch system and they have

:29:57. > :30:00.worked with her and helped her. She is very much a Dutch athlete. A gold

:30:01. > :30:02.medal for the Netherlands which she will be very proud of and I am sure

:30:03. > :30:20.they will be as well. This high jump final is getting

:30:21. > :30:28.towards the business end and it is Robbie Grabarz at the new height of

:30:29. > :30:36.2.3 three. Oh, yes. Robbie Grabarz has gone clear at a height that

:30:37. > :30:49.might get him on the rostrum. That is brilliant.

:30:50. > :30:57.It's high jump final is going in Britain's favour as we stand. Robert

:30:58. > :31:05.Grabartz hit the lowest of the low after surgery in 2014. Can Erik

:31:06. > :31:09.Kynard, silver-medallist in the Olympic Games, rally the home

:31:10. > :31:20.support enough to taking clear at 2.33?

:31:21. > :31:34.Yes, a good jump indeed. But it was the second time of asking.

:31:35. > :31:56.Barshim looks in trouble. It looks as though he has pulled a car.

:31:57. > :32:04.Something snapped, he is saying. That might be the end of his

:32:05. > :32:10.competition. That is not good. He is jumping from the right side. It is

:32:11. > :32:18.his right leg. He is not giving any sign of what has happened, but

:32:19. > :32:22.something clearly has. All he said was that he was going to pass his

:32:23. > :32:33.third attempt. That was a second fail.

:32:34. > :32:42.It was a star to restart, I do not like that, he got into his running

:32:43. > :32:47.finally, that he never got going. What a mess from a man who really

:32:48. > :32:52.got in the groove last summer. His competition comes to an end with two

:32:53. > :33:02.fouls at 2.3 three. He was all over the place. Chris Baker of Great

:33:03. > :33:03.Britain has one more chance at this height to stay in this high jump

:33:04. > :33:19.final. He can't join his team-mate Robbie.

:33:20. > :33:34.But that is a good performance for him. A breakthrough winter. 2.3 six.

:33:35. > :33:41.2.29, he should be proud of that. Toni? I am going to be critical. He

:33:42. > :33:48.should have passed his attempt and gone up higher. What have you got to

:33:49. > :33:54.lose? The decision has been made and he has done what he has done. His

:33:55. > :34:03.best was only enough for seventh place. Can this man stay in? Yes, he

:34:04. > :34:12.can. Gianmarco Temberi, the pre-event favourite, the world's

:34:13. > :34:19.leader, under pressure. His third and final attempt and he becomes the

:34:20. > :34:27.third man to go clear. The medallists are confirmed. Robert

:34:28. > :34:33.Grabartz is one of them. From where I am sitting it is likely to be

:34:34. > :34:37.gold. It is the second day of the men's heptathlon and reigning

:34:38. > :34:49.champion Ashton Eaton was once again leading the way. Ashton Eaton,

:34:50. > :34:57.Olympic champion, world champion. Solid is how I would describe that.

:34:58. > :35:03.It is a big lead. He just makes it look so easy. At the end of the

:35:04. > :35:14.first day of competition he hold on first place. It is wonderful

:35:15. > :35:24.jumping. He is certainly a contender. He absolutely nailed that

:35:25. > :35:29.with it all to play for. Coming into day two of the heptathlon and Ashton

:35:30. > :35:33.Eaton was feeling confident, just the event separating him and the

:35:34. > :35:40.world title. Up first was the 60 metres hurdles.

:35:41. > :35:56.It is a clean start. Felix got away quite well. This is a close race.

:35:57. > :36:04.His personal best is 8.23, the German. It was as close as we

:36:05. > :36:11.expected. No athlete under the eight second barrier. Start of day number

:36:12. > :36:15.two for Ashton Eaton, the world record holder and outdoors and the

:36:16. > :36:21.Olympic champion. There is nothing this man has not won. He am God. The

:36:22. > :36:36.60 metres in the heptathlon. It was a good start and he hit one

:36:37. > :36:44.very hard, but he stays on his feet. 7.78 seconds. He hit a couple of the

:36:45. > :36:48.hurdles, especially the third one. But he got home safely and that is

:36:49. > :36:56.all that matters in his quest for gold. After five events he remained

:36:57. > :37:08.a clear leader, but it was all about who was going to take silver and

:37:09. > :37:19.bronze. There was a cat fight for second, and who could forget Curtis

:37:20. > :37:32.beat of the USA. And next was the pole vault.

:37:33. > :37:41.You were getting near the lifetime best of Felix. It is three failures.

:37:42. > :37:43.He has already dropped a couple of places. That is to be expected on

:37:44. > :37:57.the second day of action. The number in the corner is their

:37:58. > :38:08.overall standing in the competition. That was better.

:38:09. > :38:19.This is his third attempt. He has already set a season's best. That

:38:20. > :38:34.was good. He stayed in the hunt for a world indoor championship medal.

:38:35. > :38:45.The second attempt at 5.1 zero. Oh, yes! There are more points in the

:38:46. > :38:52.bag. Look what it means to the German, Matthias Bruguera. Lifetime

:38:53. > :39:04.best has been surpassed. That is why it meant so much. That elevates him

:39:05. > :39:25.into the bronze medal position. The music has gone.

:39:26. > :39:34.Nobody wanted to breed, sneeze, move their chair. I held my breath in

:39:35. > :39:37.case I made a noise. All you could hear were the feet of Ashton Eaton

:39:38. > :39:43.in the convention centre ploughing down to potentially a lifetime best.

:39:44. > :39:48.The seventh and final event, the 1000 metres. Although the gold medal

:39:49. > :39:55.is all but hung around Ashton Eaton's neck, the next question was

:39:56. > :40:08.whether Curtis beat could make the podium. He can run 2.23, and he

:40:09. > :40:17.needs to win by 17 seconds and we have a 16 second gap. The difference

:40:18. > :40:21.between Curtis Beach and the third placed German is only six seconds.

:40:22. > :40:29.Yes, he has a good chance of the bronze medal, and if he runs well,

:40:30. > :40:36.Curtis Beach could go into the silver medal position. The final

:40:37. > :40:40.event in the men's heptathlon and Ashton Eaton heading for gold

:40:41. > :40:45.surely. The world record is not within his sites. The real question

:40:46. > :40:50.is whether his team-mate Curtis Beach can go hard enough, quick

:40:51. > :40:55.enough for long enough and put some distance between himself and the

:40:56. > :41:01.tall figure in the blue towards the back, the Ukrainian in the blue and

:41:02. > :41:19.yellow, the familiar colours of his nation. 29.93 is not a particularly

:41:20. > :41:27.fast 200 metres. If you split it up evenly, he needed 28.6 zero. With a

:41:28. > :41:38.decathlon it is a rhythm event, get into that rhythm and pick it up as

:41:39. > :41:43.you go. Look for 57.2 at 400. You are assuming he may be well picked

:41:44. > :41:50.up the last 300 metres. But how fast are the others going? The big German

:41:51. > :41:54.is having a good run and he is giving himself a great chance of

:41:55. > :42:00.hanging onto a medal. Felix is in fourth place. Out in front is this

:42:01. > :42:14.man Curtis Beach and he is going for it. He is running fairly even paced

:42:15. > :42:25.laps. Brugger is in third place. Aston Eaton is leading. It is an

:42:26. > :42:32.awkward and ungainly style, probably not what Paula is accustomed to

:42:33. > :42:37.seeing. He is a bit off the pace and I think he is struggling. But what

:42:38. > :42:43.is the time difference between him and the Ukrainian? That was his

:42:44. > :42:51.quickest 200 metres. Curtis Beach is trying to win a bronze or even a

:42:52. > :42:57.silver medal. But Brugger is running brilliantly. Ashton Eaton is

:42:58. > :43:01.certainly guaranteed the gold medal. The crowd are on their feet and

:43:02. > :43:08.cheering. Curtis Beach is going to win the final event. A great effort

:43:09. > :43:14.from him. Brugger might have done enough to hang onto a medal. Ashton

:43:15. > :43:20.Eaton will be the champion. It is very close and we are waiting to see

:43:21. > :43:26.what the Ukrainian does to cross the line. There is no doubt about the

:43:27. > :43:32.winner and the champion. He carries on with his imperious form, he is

:43:33. > :43:38.top of the world again. The results are coming in and Curtis Beach has

:43:39. > :43:47.not done enough, not quite. Brugger ran brilliantly to hang onto him.

:43:48. > :43:56.The Ukrainian hung on for the second place. He was ten seconds behind

:43:57. > :44:06.Curtis Beach. It will be gold for Ashton Eaton. Brugger of Germany,

:44:07. > :44:12.running a personal best in that 1000 metres, does just enough to hang

:44:13. > :44:17.onto the bronze medal. Yet another world title, but in Portland, your

:44:18. > :44:22.hometown, does it feel different? It is a bit more special. I hope there

:44:23. > :44:33.are young kids in the crowd and if they want to be a gold medallist,

:44:34. > :44:38.that is cool. Your wife is a gold-medallist as well. What will

:44:39. > :44:43.the celebrations be like? It is awesome. That is the highlight. I

:44:44. > :44:49.did not care what happened to me, I was just here to cap it off for the

:44:50. > :44:54.family, but she is the star. The final event is the women's 60 metres

:44:55. > :45:07.with Dafne Schippers trying to add an indoor World Championship medal

:45:08. > :45:17.to her growing list of titles. Dafne Schippers for the gold. The Dutch

:45:18. > :45:32.athlete celebrates. It is going to be Dafne Schippers.

:45:33. > :45:39.The last event on the track, two British athletes making the final of

:45:40. > :45:44.the winnings 60 metres Tom Asha Philip will be in lane one, the

:45:45. > :45:49.first to be introduced to the crowd, just missed out on a medal two years

:45:50. > :45:56.ago at these same Championships. Dafne Schippers came here as the

:45:57. > :45:59.favourite to win the gold medal but it is becoming an increasingly

:46:00. > :46:05.difficult task for the world 200 metres champion. She shares the

:46:06. > :46:09.fastest time in the world this year with Barbara Pierre of the United

:46:10. > :46:15.States. Both of them running exactly seven seconds. Payet once again

:46:16. > :46:24.looked supreme in the semifinal, Dave worshippers was beaten by

:46:25. > :46:27.Thompson. -- Dafne Schippers was beaten by Thompson. Now, Dina

:46:28. > :46:36.Asher-Smith has not been introduced to the crowd. We were expecting to

:46:37. > :46:41.see her come down the ramp, she is not there, Bowie has come down in

:46:42. > :46:45.lane eight. On my computer, I have not seen the start list come up yet,

:46:46. > :46:52.it will not be made official until the last point. Elaine Thompson just

:46:53. > :47:01.trying to work out whether Dina Asher-Smith is there. That will be a

:47:02. > :47:06.real shame because she performed brilliantly in the semifinal. Was in

:47:07. > :47:15.the first semifinal, chased Barbara Pierre home but a nonstarter. Dina

:47:16. > :47:19.Asher-Smith does not start. The world junior champion of course, she

:47:20. > :47:24.will be looking towards the Olympic Games, she looked so good in

:47:25. > :47:28.qualification, that is a real shame. Britain with just one athlete in the

:47:29. > :47:45.final, Asha Philip, the team captain.

:47:46. > :47:51.It was going to be a tough task for Britain to get a medal here and it

:47:52. > :48:02.is left to Asha Philip to fly the flag. This is a very high-quality

:48:03. > :48:07.field, if she could get down to 7.1, a personal best she set a couple of

:48:08. > :48:19.years ago, something under 7.1 will be required to get a medal here.

:48:20. > :48:24.Elaine Thompson, improving with every single race, what a season she

:48:25. > :48:41.is likely to have this summer. Dafne Schippers, beaten by Thompson

:48:42. > :48:49.in the semifinal but looked supreme in qualification in the heats. Is

:48:50. > :48:55.she under pressure from Thompson but also the fast starting Barbara

:48:56. > :49:02.Pierre of the United States? She looks calm and relaxed. We are being

:49:03. > :49:07.told that Dina Asher-Smith has a slight hamstring, we hope it is

:49:08. > :49:15.nothing too serious. The right could caution being taken not to risk that

:49:16. > :49:19.hamstring problem. A real shame she is not here though, Bowie closest to

:49:20. > :49:27.the camera in lane eight making up this final. Asha Philip on the far

:49:28. > :49:37.side, Talou of the Ivory Coast, Johnson, Ahye, Barbara Pierre in six

:49:38. > :49:45.and by we in lane eight. The women's 60 metres final.

:49:46. > :49:52.Thompson gets the best start, Asha Philip flying out of the blocks but

:49:53. > :49:55.look at Barbara Pierre and it is gold for the USA, Dafne Schippers

:49:56. > :50:02.came through for the silver in the end. What a night for the American

:50:03. > :50:06.team. Barbara Pierre came here, joint fastest in the world and she

:50:07. > :50:11.takes the title of world champion, Dafne Schippers looking up at the

:50:12. > :50:15.screen but no doubt who has won this race, superb starting as ever from

:50:16. > :50:20.the air. Asha Philip got off to a great start but could not quite hold

:50:21. > :50:24.the talent in this field. The air was away strongly, as was Thompson

:50:25. > :50:30.and Dafne Schippers comes through the middle but left it too late, not

:50:31. > :50:36.as quick out of the blocks, look at Barbara Pierre, a typical 60-metre

:50:37. > :50:41.runner, flying out, compact, small, the type of athlete who often wins

:50:42. > :50:45.this kind of title. Ethnic shippers by contrast would have liked another

:50:46. > :50:51.15 or 20 metres but you don't get it indoors. Almost got there but not

:50:52. > :50:55.quite. Dafne Schippers has been struggling with her start, little

:50:56. > :50:58.bit too tall in those races, this one a bit better of a forward lean,

:50:59. > :51:05.driving out better but Barbara Pierre got out but Dafne Schippers

:51:06. > :51:12.was not going to capture even with the fast finish. What a night for

:51:13. > :51:20.the USA. Make that therefore the gold medal. Barbara Pierre winning

:51:21. > :51:25.the 60-metre title ahead of Dafne Schippers and Thompson. A really

:51:26. > :51:28.good performance from Asha Philip in terms of the last few metres where

:51:29. > :51:38.she couldn't hold this hugely talented field. But you have to hand

:51:39. > :51:47.it to Pierre. The gold medal to the USA. Dafne Schippers with 7.0 four.

:51:48. > :51:53.I said you would have the run under 7.1, to win a medal, Asha Philip

:51:54. > :52:00.with a strong fifth-place, 7.1 four. I knew the competition was stiff but

:52:01. > :52:04.I had to stay focused and do my race and that is what I did. That is what

:52:05. > :52:11.you have to do in a field like this, do what you do in practice. I am

:52:12. > :52:14.happy but it is bittersweet, I wanted a medal after coming forth a

:52:15. > :52:21.couple of years ago, and then coming fifth, but as team captain I have to

:52:22. > :52:25.be positive. I gave the team a positive message so I hope everyone

:52:26. > :52:33.can hold onto that. Even though I was not at my best, I still

:52:34. > :52:38.performed and fifth in the world. Gianmarco Tamberi with the new

:52:39. > :52:47.height, 2.36, we have seen Robbie Grabarz fail along with Erik Kynard,

:52:48. > :52:54.this to go in the lead, and he does. That is brilliant. From someone who

:52:55. > :52:59.didn't quite look as in charge as he thought he might, as we thought he

:53:00. > :53:10.might, he talked the talk. He has just walked it as well. Gianmarco

:53:11. > :53:16.Tamberi has gone clear at the new height, which I am surprised to see

:53:17. > :53:22.that this man is going to have a go at it as well, pulled up on his

:53:23. > :53:37.previous attempt. Carrying two vows, one go, he cites the Barwell but no.

:53:38. > :53:43.He is out. Robbie Grabarz looking for the support of the American

:53:44. > :53:48.crowd. Their allegiance possibly in favour of Erik Kynard, with who he

:53:49. > :53:57.is one place ahead of in the silver medal position. No, 2.36 enough but

:53:58. > :54:01.2.33, a brilliant performance, equalling his season best.

:54:02. > :54:09.Guaranteed a medal, silver as we stand. This jump stands between

:54:10. > :54:14.Robbie Grabarz and a guaranteed silver medal, Erik Kynard, we'll

:54:15. > :54:18.settle for bronze if he doesn't go clear, I thought he had but he

:54:19. > :54:32.knocked it off. It is bronze for Erik Kynard. Robbie Grabarz has the

:54:33. > :54:40.silver. Gianmarco Tamberi the gold. He has the gold medal already, this

:54:41. > :54:52.is his last attempt at 2.4 zero. Possibly his best of the three, came

:54:53. > :54:57.down on it. Gold it is for Italy, a great performance under pressure, it

:54:58. > :55:01.looked at one point that it might be gold for Robbie Grabarz of Great

:55:02. > :55:07.Britain but he has to settle for silver. Confirmation of the final

:55:08. > :55:13.result of that wonderful men's high jump final, gold for Italy with

:55:14. > :55:21.Gianmarco Tamberi. 2.36 after a scratchy start. A brilliant return

:55:22. > :55:24.to form for the Olympic medallist, Robbie Grabarz, head of Erik Kynard

:55:25. > :55:34.of the USA. Britain's bird medal of these world

:55:35. > :55:40.indoor Championships, Robbie Grabarz, Olympic bronze four years

:55:41. > :55:45.ago and the European gold and now in such an important year takes a

:55:46. > :55:48.silver medal at the world indoor Championships ahead of the Rio

:55:49. > :55:53.Olympic Games later this year. What a confidence boost it will be and a

:55:54. > :55:59.well-deserved silver medal for Robbie Grabarz. I am ecstatic, I

:56:00. > :56:07.can't believe it. If someone had said this would be the outcome, I

:56:08. > :56:11.would be amazed. After the injury, you try to make two metres and

:56:12. > :56:16.couldn't, how much work has it taken? It feels like six years

:56:17. > :56:23.rather than the two it has taken, the reward feels much greater after

:56:24. > :56:27.that uphill struggle. Compare how you are feeling now compare to at

:56:28. > :56:34.this point before the London Olympics? I have achieved a greater

:56:35. > :56:40.mark at world level, I have to take that confidence and use it in my

:56:41. > :56:46.training for the outdoor season. What how does it feel to be a world

:56:47. > :56:53.champion? It is amazing. It was a really hard competition. At the

:56:54. > :56:56.beginning I had some problems, I could not feel the bounce of the

:56:57. > :57:05.track and I had problems with the approach. I had to choose to give up

:57:06. > :57:10.or fight like an animal. And the crowd helped me to understand I had

:57:11. > :57:18.to fight and fight. It was really good to arrive today and to know I

:57:19. > :57:23.did it. You look like you enjoyed competing. I like to have fun when

:57:24. > :57:31.competing, it is the most important thing of my job. If I can't have

:57:32. > :57:40.fun, I can't jump. What I like more, is people having fun with me. It was

:57:41. > :57:44.great. A superb day for the United States, four more gold medals,

:57:45. > :57:48.taking their total to 15 in all are miles ahead of everyone else, Italy

:57:49. > :57:54.with their first gold in the high jump and the silver for Great

:57:55. > :57:56.Britain means that total is three. Coverage of the world indoor

:57:57. > :58:00.athletics Championships continues later today with the final days

:58:01. > :58:09.events live on the red button from 7:30pm. We have highlights on BBC

:58:10. > :58:14.One at 11:55pm, 12:50am in Scotland or tomorrow on BBC Two at 1:20pm.

:58:15. > :58:24.Next Saturday, Mo Farah looking to add the world half marathon title to

:58:25. > :58:28.his successes. A great day for the host nation with four gold medals

:58:29. > :58:30.but Robbie Grabarz make sure that for the British team, the day

:58:31. > :58:34.finished on a high, goodbye.
