:00:46. > :00:50.There is always talk about the future of the home of British
:00:50. > :00:53.athletics. One minute it will be redeveloped, then it will go to the
:00:53. > :00:58.knacker's yard, but there is still something magical about Crystal
:00:58. > :01:08.Palace, when it is full and the biggest names in track and field
:01:08. > :01:08.
:01:08. > :02:01.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 53 seconds
:02:02. > :02:06.This is effectively the final qualifying for the World
:02:06. > :02:13.Championships in Korea. Who is in the best shape? Which British stars
:02:13. > :02:17.are going to take on the world and beat it?
:02:17. > :02:22.And BAFTAs course is where Mo Farah comes in. Unbeaten this year and in
:02:22. > :02:27.commanding form at Birmingham last week. A 3,000-metre a warm-up
:02:27. > :02:31.tonight will hopefully put him in tip-top form for Korea. But on a
:02:31. > :02:37.global stage, there is no question about the outstanding athlete of
:02:37. > :02:43.the year: David Rudisha, world record holder at 800m, has won his
:02:43. > :02:47.last 27 races. David Oliver has been one of the pre-eminent figures
:02:47. > :02:52.of track and field for the last few years, but a major title still
:02:52. > :02:56.eludes him. This is a big warm up tonight for him.
:02:56. > :03:03.And then we will focus on two British Ladies, Perri Shakes
:03:03. > :03:08.Drayton, two titles in Birmingham last weekend, but how does she rate
:03:08. > :03:12.against the best in the world? And the same goes for teenage
:03:12. > :03:18.sprint sensation, Jodie Williams. European junior champion but can
:03:18. > :03:23.she swim with the bigger fish? Unless you live within walking
:03:23. > :03:28.distance, it is often a wonder that anybody makes it to Crystal Palace,
:03:28. > :03:34.especially on a Friday night, but they come still and with a capacity
:03:34. > :03:40.crowd of endless acres of parkland to go alongside the sports centre,
:03:40. > :03:50.world famous as well. The great thing about athletics is that it is
:03:50. > :03:52.
:03:52. > :03:55.but it is also part of the Diamond League series. These events, part
:03:55. > :04:05.of the Diamond League, are designated by a diamond on the
:04:05. > :04:05.
:04:05. > :04:14.right Tyneside. -- right hand side. There are also some domestic events
:04:14. > :04:19.to help for selection for Korea. Mo Farah will be on at 9:10pm. A
:04:19. > :04:23.couple of absentees, one of them is Jessica Ennis. After her five event
:04:23. > :04:27.heroics in Birmingham, she is taking the weekend off but she says
:04:27. > :04:32.she intends to have one more race perhaps in Loughborough before
:04:32. > :04:37.Korea, and also Asafa Powell is sadly missing. He pulled out a few
:04:37. > :04:43.hours ago because of injury. But we still have a blistering programme
:04:44. > :04:50.for the next three hours. Some of the names of the stars are
:04:50. > :04:55.augmented by Colin Jackson and Mo Faroe really have suddenly
:04:55. > :04:59.captured the public's imagination. The what a season! It has been
:04:59. > :05:04.incredible. We talk about the atmosphere here, he could have
:05:04. > :05:10.easily sat this one out. He does not need to race but the atmosphere
:05:10. > :05:14.is incredible, it is a chance for him to put his spring spikes on in
:05:14. > :05:20.the 3000m and celebrate with the crowd. -- sprinting spikes. So why
:05:20. > :05:24.does he come? Sometimes you think it is the right thing to do. If you
:05:24. > :05:30.had it been a preparation for the running year, there is no reason to
:05:30. > :05:33.change it. The 3000m is a crowd- pleasing event. It is not too long
:05:33. > :05:41.so as a long-distance runner, Mo Farah is going into middle-distance
:05:41. > :05:45.running there. It is pretty special. He would run 3000m in a training
:05:45. > :05:51.event so why not do it in front of the crowd, I suppose? This takes us
:05:51. > :05:57.to the other end of the Distin spectrum to Jodie Williams, who is
:05:58. > :06:03.our great hope to be a major star. She has said she will not compete
:06:03. > :06:08.in Korea in the world championships. What is the difference? This gives
:06:08. > :06:14.her an opportunity to rub shoulders with some of the big guns. She is
:06:14. > :06:18.still only 17. The merest got his Bianca Knight, who is 22. She can
:06:18. > :06:22.use this to get out and feel what it is like to rub shoulders with
:06:22. > :06:27.the others. Jodie Williams is used to winning and that was why she
:06:27. > :06:33.does not want to go to Daegu. She has dominated her age group. Let's
:06:33. > :06:37.face it, she may not feature in those championships. Behind us we
:06:37. > :06:42.can see we have the men in the first semi-final of the men's 110-
:06:42. > :06:47.metre hurdles. This is almost an Olympic final in its own right!
:06:47. > :06:52.Fantastic line-up. They are in two quite a strong headwind. Without
:06:52. > :06:57.being too technical, how will that impact? It hampers your rhythm.
:06:57. > :07:01.This event is about strength, power and the rhythm. You need the
:07:01. > :07:06.marriage of all of those things do get the really fast times. Early on
:07:06. > :07:09.in the evening you do tend to have a headwind at Crystal Palace. Later
:07:09. > :07:14.in the evening, that will tend to drop so these guys who qualify will
:07:14. > :07:18.be happier when they return later for the final. And the key thing is
:07:18. > :07:24.that you have to hit the first flight because if the wind impacts
:07:24. > :07:27.on you there, you have problems with the subsequent ones.
:07:27. > :07:31.conditions are always very different indeed so they kind of
:07:31. > :07:35.drive into the first hurdle and people, look at Dayron Robles in
:07:35. > :07:39.the green, he is of course the world record holder and Olympic
:07:39. > :07:45.champion. He does a seven stride approach to the first hurdle and he
:07:45. > :07:51.will appreciate this headwind. He can drive into the barrier and get
:07:51. > :07:54.into his stride earlier. The where does Andy Turner fit in? A lot of
:07:54. > :07:58.pressure. He knows this is the field he will be up against in
:07:58. > :08:03.Daegu and it is the market of when he could possibly finish in the
:08:03. > :08:06.final so it is a difficult situation for him. He is clearly
:08:06. > :08:12.Britain's number one and I hope he can truly focused and raced to his
:08:12. > :08:15.best potential. You have to remember this is a run this of our
:08:16. > :08:24.domestic people. We have Lawrence Clarke in lane eight, William
:08:24. > :08:30.Sharman closest to us, who are going for the times. Gianni Frankis
:08:30. > :08:34.in the next heat. So this is a real race of, very exciting. It is a
:08:34. > :08:38.race within a race. The Great Britain's team for Daegu is
:08:38. > :08:40.announced next week and for a lot of these guys, this is a last
:08:40. > :08:46.chance to say to Charles van Commenee and the other selection
:08:46. > :08:56.people, you have got to take us. Andy Turner will be there and so
:08:56. > :09:16.
:09:16. > :09:21.will Paul Dickenson forced a thank indeed. Alexander John, former
:09:21. > :09:26.European finalist. That was a championship that was won by Andy
:09:26. > :09:32.Turner so he will know this man very well. Only 13.69 this year.
:09:32. > :09:36.That will not be fast enough, I suggest, to qualify for the final
:09:37. > :09:43.later. Will Sharman is recovering from injury. He finished third in
:09:43. > :09:47.the UK Championships last weekend. This is a real surprise package
:09:47. > :09:51.from the USA, Jason Richardson. He won the Diamond League in Stockholm
:09:52. > :09:55.last week. He beat David Oliver and everybody else but this time he is
:09:55. > :10:03.up against the world record holder and Olympic champion, Dayron Robles
:10:03. > :10:09.of Cuba. Brown from the USA, he finished 6th in the world
:10:09. > :10:17.championship final way back in 2005. This year he got his lifetime best
:10:17. > :10:23.of 13.2. Andy Turner! Great reception from the Crystal Palace
:10:23. > :10:30.crowd. He had a week of last week from hurdling anyway. He got to the
:10:30. > :10:35.semi-final in the 100 metres. Dominic Berger, 13.32 this year.
:10:35. > :10:40.His lifetime best. And finally Lawrence Clarke. The UK champion
:10:40. > :10:43.from last weekend. He twice equalled his lifetime best
:10:43. > :10:50.performance of 13.58. He will be disappointed if there is a strong
:10:50. > :10:54.headwind. But the object of the exercise for him is to make the
:10:54. > :11:01.final. The top three, plus the two fastest losers from both semi-
:11:01. > :11:06.finals, will go through. Lawrence Clarke did so well to win the UK
:11:06. > :11:10.Championships last week. Just 21 years old. A real prospect.
:11:10. > :11:14.Commonwealth bronze medallist at couple of years ago. But Dayron
:11:14. > :11:24.Robles will be the man everybody will be watching, and Andy Turner
:11:24. > :11:39.
:11:39. > :11:48.in lane six, and Will Sharman in A will have to wait and see whether
:11:48. > :11:53.he goes through as the fastest loser. 13.17. Slightly less was the
:11:53. > :11:59.head wind, 0.9 metres per second, but Andy Turner will not be happy
:11:59. > :12:05.with himself after that run. What is start to the meeting. What a
:12:05. > :12:10.surprise and what a guy this is, too. It is fantastic to see Dayron
:12:10. > :12:13.Robles running so well again. Aggressive into the first hurdle.
:12:13. > :12:18.You can see his seven stride approach, he gets very snappily
:12:18. > :12:23.into his stride and he eases away from the field. He is a born her
:12:23. > :12:29.lap, he has such fluid technique, they remain relaxed. He doesn't
:12:29. > :12:33.worry when he is under pressure, he just presses on. As they come
:12:33. > :12:37.through the line you can see Andy Turner was fourth place
:12:37. > :12:43.unfortunately. It is only the first three guaranteed. We have to see
:12:43. > :12:48.where he ends up. But yet again, the closest to us, you can see
:12:48. > :12:53.Dayron Robles, he throws his legs so neatly over the hurdles, pulls
:12:53. > :12:57.them down aggressively. He always seems to do enough. You also have
:12:57. > :13:02.to be careful of the guy very close to him indeed. Her on the right of
:13:02. > :13:07.our screens, Jason Richardson, who beat David Oliver in Stockholm. He
:13:07. > :13:10.is coached by John Smith, someone who has a vast experience in
:13:10. > :13:16.getting hurdlers into great shape at the right time, and I think this
:13:16. > :13:21.could be a danger man in Daegu. Even though Dayron Robles is making
:13:21. > :13:26.his lead, his left foot over the barrier, you can see how Jason is
:13:26. > :13:31.just sneaking back to him, slowly but surely. But you know what,
:13:31. > :13:41.Dayron Robles proves why he is the champion. He eases himself in front
:13:41. > :14:04.
:14:04. > :14:09.whether Andy Turner's time stands It is a waiting game as you say.
:14:09. > :14:14.Assess the race of star it was generally a bit sloppy. I made a
:14:14. > :14:18.few mistakes, I hit a few hurdles. It wasn't a particularly good race
:14:18. > :14:25.to be fair. I think I have got a lot of work to do now. Things have
:14:25. > :14:28.been going OK in training. It is one of those bad races I think.
:14:28. > :14:31.as the atmosphere changed when you are at an Diamond League meeting
:14:31. > :14:36.with a full house and you had the likes of Richardson and Dayron
:14:36. > :14:39.Robles running alongside you? love it. It would have been great
:14:39. > :14:43.if David Oliver and a few others were there because I love racing
:14:43. > :14:48.the best guys in the world. They are the pride I am trying to catch.
:14:48. > :14:52.I need to be racing them all the time. I hope it will be enough to
:14:52. > :14:59.make the final because I can improve a lot on that, 13.41 into
:14:59. > :15:03.the wind. That shows there is still a lot more there. Let's hope so.
:15:03. > :15:06.We know Andy Turner will be going to do what championships. If you
:15:06. > :15:10.were on the selection panel and deciding whether anybody would be
:15:10. > :15:15.going with him, on that evidence, Lawrence Clarke ran up really well
:15:15. > :15:20.last week, would you take them? Will Sharman has the standard from
:15:20. > :15:24.last year but he has been struggling with injury this year.
:15:24. > :15:32.Not quite in form. Lawrence Clarke has beaten him twice. It is a tough
:15:32. > :15:36.one. This is what you have to do as a selective. I like Lawrence. I
:15:36. > :15:39.think he is feisty. I saw him before the meat talking about
:15:39. > :15:44.technical advice, he is serious and I think he should have the
:15:44. > :15:54.opportunity. He is a geologist at Bristol University. He loves it and
:15:54. > :15:54.
:15:54. > :16:00.I loved him! I think he has done Let's move on to the second semi-
:16:00. > :16:05.final. David Oliver is just behind us, the great American. He talks
:16:05. > :16:11.just as well as he runs. Always quick to see you in the UK.
:16:11. > :16:16.I know London has a particular place in your heart, with 2012 a
:16:16. > :16:24.year away. I wonder how much the feeling of the Games and the
:16:24. > :16:30.excitement is hitting you. America, we are not really on the
:16:30. > :16:40.bandwagon yet, but when it turns into 2012, it will be dominating
:16:40. > :16:44.the coverage. When the season ends this year, you make a push, in
:16:44. > :16:53.training, all the way through to next year. I am excited to be back
:16:53. > :16:59.in London next year. The fans are so knowledgeable with athletics. It
:16:59. > :17:03.will be a great environment. I am really looking forward to it.
:17:03. > :17:09.is intensity, wherever you walk in the season, because of the people
:17:09. > :17:16.in it. This weekend, it is Dayron Robles. What do you read into these
:17:16. > :17:22.races? It is mainly about what I am trying to accomplish as a
:17:22. > :17:26.springboard to seeing where we need to go back and get right, ahead of
:17:26. > :17:31.the world championships. I am sure most of the athletes here are
:17:31. > :17:35.trying to make sure that they do not get injured, everything goes
:17:35. > :17:42.right, so they can go home with something to build on for the big
:17:42. > :17:47.dance later on this month. I assume he is under heavy training, were
:17:47. > :17:51.core of the other athletes. You want to win, of course, you want to
:17:51. > :17:56.give a great effort, the fans, they want to see that. I am going to
:17:56. > :18:04.give the fans what they want to see. I am hoping it will be good enough
:18:04. > :18:08.for the win. Nobody is going to go to Daegu and say, I won in London,
:18:08. > :18:12.that means I should be able to win here. It is always different, race
:18:12. > :18:22.to race. You try to stay technically efficient and get the
:18:22. > :18:23.
:18:23. > :18:29.here, hopefully. The massive shoulders. Andy Turner was training
:18:29. > :18:35.with him during the week. His children said, why are your
:18:35. > :18:45.shoulders not as big as his? Big man, big talent. He will be hoping
:18:45. > :19:07.
:19:07. > :19:13.Turner, 13.421. The two fastest performance in Budapest last
:19:13. > :19:19.weekend. He finished in second place. He is not too well known on
:19:19. > :19:24.the European circuit. The Jamaican is, though. It has run the 100
:19:24. > :19:30.metres in 10 seconds flat. He has made a good move up to the hurdles.
:19:30. > :19:34.He made the final in Berlin. Then, the former world junior champion.
:19:34. > :19:43.Second in the American championships. David Oliver, the
:19:43. > :19:48.American champion, beaten in his last two Diamond League outings.
:19:49. > :19:58.One of those defeats was to Dayron Robles. The former American
:19:59. > :20:02.
:20:02. > :20:07.collegiate champion. 13.30 this saga of Tiffany Ofili-Porter, this
:20:07. > :20:12.is her husband. He took the bronze at the American indoor
:20:12. > :20:20.championships last year. Gianni Frankis watched what happened with
:20:20. > :20:30.Lawrence Clarke and well Sharman. 13.57 is his best. If he can run
:20:30. > :20:38.
:20:38. > :20:43.13.52 here, he will guarantee athlete on the circuit. He is
:20:43. > :20:49.always happy to give his time. He is great with the media, and very
:20:49. > :20:53.popular with the other athletes. But he will want to re-establish
:20:53. > :21:03.himself here, not just in this heat, but in the final later on, against
:21:03. > :21:38.
:21:38. > :21:43.Dayron Robles and the new threat of for Andy Turner. I am pretty sure
:21:43. > :21:48.his 13.421 will be good enough. It was not the best of starts for
:21:48. > :21:55.David Oliver, but he always makes up for it. When you are built like
:21:55. > :22:02.David Oliver, the wind does not effective. -- does not affect you.
:22:02. > :22:06.He did not get out of the blocks as explosively as I thought. He is not
:22:06. > :22:10.first to the first hurdle. He is sandwiched between his two
:22:10. > :22:15.compatriots. It will come a long time to work his way through the
:22:15. > :22:22.field. But when he started moving it, he moved smoothly and cleanly.
:22:22. > :22:27.That is going to be crucial. Seven strides to the first barrier. He
:22:27. > :22:33.works really hard to make sure he is on top of the barrier, with as
:22:33. > :22:42.much speed and precision as he can muster. Then he gets into a very
:22:42. > :22:46.smooth, silky rhythm and timing, which is going to be very important.
:22:46. > :22:51.I am watching his face to see if there is any signs, but there is no
:22:51. > :22:55.problem. Making sure he qualifies. There was quite a strong headwind
:22:55. > :23:03.as well, so it was a good performance. It looks like he is
:23:03. > :23:12.A strong headwind, a decent time, what will you improve on in the
:23:13. > :23:17.final? Just to win more of the same. It was a decent time. And OK race.
:23:17. > :23:22.Just try to get into the top three. What is it like when you have a
:23:22. > :23:30.heat and a final? You cannot hold back. You can still run under
:23:30. > :23:35.control. That is what I tried to do. I think I did a pretty good job.
:23:35. > :23:39.Just try to improve the technical aspects in the final. You have got
:23:39. > :23:47.a head-to-head with Dayron Robles in the final. It will be a great
:23:47. > :23:57.final. We have a great competitors, and I would hope to come out on top.
:23:57. > :24:08.
:24:08. > :24:16.semi-final. About 0.1 seconds for will qualify for the final later on.
:24:16. > :24:22.Perri Shakes-Drayton became the first person to win the 400 flap
:24:22. > :24:32.and 400 hurdles national championships, but she is stepping
:24:32. > :24:50.
:24:50. > :24:56.She is up against the best two was fourth in Beijing. She will be
:24:56. > :25:06.looking to push towards the medals in Daegu. You look at the world
:25:06. > :25:12.
:25:12. > :25:22.rankings, the top three are ahead metres above her season's best to
:25:22. > :25:48.
:25:48. > :25:58.head this year. A couple of European Cups and European team
:25:58. > :26:20.
:26:20. > :26:28.championships. She was the European lead is over 66 metres. It has laid
:26:28. > :26:32.down the gauntlet. It certainly has. There are two athletes ahead of the
:26:32. > :26:36.British athlete who of the best in the world, but I think a medal is
:26:36. > :26:41.up for grabs by the time we get to the world championships. Goldie
:26:41. > :26:45.Sayers has got every chance of getting it. That was a good
:26:45. > :26:55.response. She needs more, though, if she is going to overtake the
:26:55. > :27:11.
:27:11. > :27:21.happened just before. There is no other forever that hits the javelin
:27:21. > :27:27.
:27:27. > :27:37.so hard. -- no other thrower. She creates the platform, then pours
:27:37. > :27:38.
:27:38. > :27:48.through very fast. We saw her fro over 70 metres in 2007. These two
:27:48. > :28:13.
:28:13. > :28:18.the world indoor champion. She jumped 15 metres and 25 centimetres
:28:18. > :28:28.in 2010. She has not been in that form so far this summer, but that
:28:28. > :28:41.
:28:41. > :28:45.round. Sorry, the first round. A We are still here at the start of
:28:45. > :28:50.the home stretch, but at the far end, they are getting ready for the
:28:50. > :28:55.400-metre hurdles. Amongst them, Perri Shakes-Drayton. She won the
:28:55. > :29:00.400 metres last weekend so emphatically. Is it because she is
:29:00. > :29:05.getting better or of the rest getting slower? I think we have got
:29:05. > :29:13.a real demonstration of how much potential this girl has. She is
:29:13. > :29:18.incredible. Her races last weekend were amazing. She. Against
:29:18. > :29:23.Christine are eroded, specialists in the event. But look, she moved
:29:23. > :29:31.away from the field. So much power and strength. I thought she was
:29:31. > :29:35.sensational. It is great to see her do that. I will be honest, this
:29:35. > :29:39.race tonight is going to be of a different level. Do not be
:29:39. > :29:45.surprised if she is 10 metres adrift of the women she is up
:29:45. > :29:51.against, she is up against the best in the world. Kaliese Spencer will
:29:51. > :29:56.win this race, and I think she will be the Olympic champion next year.
:29:56. > :30:04.She is taking on Melanie Walker as well, the Olympic champion. This is
:30:04. > :30:09.not easy! And a Zuzana Hejnova. It is a tall order. She needs to find
:30:09. > :30:16.a second to be in the next. But with improvements to her hurdling
:30:16. > :30:20.technique, which has not command, I think in the next couple of years,
:30:20. > :30:30.could what are the areas of her hurdling technique that she should
:30:30. > :30:32.
:30:32. > :30:36.She is a tall girl but she needs to get headlines down quickly and into
:30:36. > :30:42.her stride. She has clearly got good Flat speed but her hurdling
:30:42. > :30:46.technique is letting her down. needs a ribbon she can rely on
:30:46. > :30:51.every single time and if you can get that timing, when I talk about
:30:51. > :30:58.how many straights, when you change down as you approach, lots of
:30:58. > :31:05.things she can still learn which is always great. We can see there will
:31:05. > :31:08.be getting on their blocks very shortly. Paul Dickenson. Thank you.
:31:08. > :31:13.Everybody I am sure of in the Crystal Palace stadium will be
:31:13. > :31:20.looking forward to seeing Perri Shakes Drayton. She ran six races
:31:20. > :31:25.last week in? Not quite as many, five. She won the title on very
:31:25. > :31:35.tired legs and the 400-metre hurdles, an absolute bruiser of an
:31:35. > :31:55.
:31:55. > :32:05.fourth place, she has won every race since then -- ever since
:32:05. > :32:09.
:32:09. > :32:19.that is for sure. She won in Paris. Eilidh Child of Great Britain is in
:32:19. > :32:19.
:32:19. > :32:27.lane eight. She is chasing a what championship standard. -- a world
:32:27. > :32:37.championship standard. Melaine Walker, the Olympic champion from
:32:37. > :32:44.
:32:44. > :32:53.collegiate champion on 400m hurdles. She has made reasonable progress
:32:53. > :33:00.over the last couple of years. Tracey, Central American junior
:33:00. > :33:05.record holder, just 18 years old. 54.58, lifetime best. Then Perri
:33:05. > :33:10.Shakes Drayton, European bronze medallist last year in the 400m and
:33:10. > :33:15.the hurdle and she is in good shape. Personally I can't wait to see her
:33:15. > :33:21.race at the World Championships. This would be a nice stepping stone.
:33:21. > :33:25.Zuzana Hejnova, she will provide a fantastic target. Abating Olympic
:33:25. > :33:31.finalist and quite dominant in the Diamond League this year -- a
:33:31. > :33:34.Beijing Olympic finalist. She won in Oslo and Paris. Kaliese Spencer,
:33:34. > :33:39.finalist in the last world championships, where she finished
:33:39. > :33:43.fourth. She has a cracking time this year already off 53.45.
:33:43. > :33:51.Melaine Walker, the Olympic champion, world champion the year
:33:51. > :33:57.after, looking very relaxed indeed. Zuzana Hejnova, fastest woman in
:33:58. > :34:04.the world this year. Queen Harrison, she has been making progress, tit.
:34:04. > :34:09.54.78. Almost on equal terms -- she has been making progress, to.
:34:09. > :34:15.Eilidh Child finish second in the UK Championships last week. This is
:34:15. > :34:21.where she did her lifetime best last year of 55.16. If she can
:34:21. > :34:26.repeat that, she will also be on the plane to Daegu. Perri Shakes
:34:26. > :34:30.Drayton has a good lane draw. The bend is slightly tighter in lane
:34:30. > :34:32.three than it will be for Eilidh Child in lane eight but Eilidh
:34:32. > :34:42.Child is running blind and everybody will be running down on
:34:42. > :34:57.
:34:57. > :35:01.on the outside lane. Safely over the first hurdle. Perri Shakes
:35:01. > :35:09.Drayton is running strongly but inside Tower is Tracy of Jamaica,
:35:09. > :35:17.who is running well, too -- inside her. Zuzana Hejnova is having a
:35:17. > :35:23.storming first 200 metres. Spencer Walker and Harmison have gone down
:35:23. > :35:30.Eilidh Child. This is a very competitive race. 150 metres to go
:35:30. > :35:35.into the home straight. Perri Shakes Drayton, about 5th place at
:35:35. > :35:45.the moment! Kaliese Spencer of Jamaica is way ahead of the Olympic
:35:45. > :35:48.
:35:48. > :35:54.52.8! Absolutely massive in terms of times. That is one of the
:35:54. > :36:04.fastest times in history! Absolutely superb! She ran her
:36:04. > :36:06.
:36:06. > :36:11.socks off! 52.8. 9th fastest time in history. Two places behind Sally
:36:11. > :36:15.Gunnell on the all-time list. I know that Sally is watching tonight.
:36:15. > :36:18.She must have been impressed with that. That is the sort of target
:36:18. > :36:23.that Perri Shakes Drayton and everybody else have to try to go
:36:24. > :36:32.for in the future. A real step forward for Kaliese Spencer. Of
:36:32. > :36:38.Jamaica. This was always on the cards. She has been in supreme form.
:36:38. > :36:43.I know that Colleen is a big fan of hers -- Colin. When she gets it
:36:43. > :36:49.right, she's superbly. She started quickly and must have taken six
:36:49. > :36:53.metres out of everybody else in the first 200 metres. She was format we
:36:53. > :37:00.meet is ahead in the first couple of hurdles, which is unusual -- she
:37:00. > :37:04.was a four metres ahead. She was not looking as tired as some of the
:37:04. > :37:09.others. Look at the distance she put between herself and Melaine
:37:09. > :37:18.Walker. Perri Shakes Drayton came in third place and this season's
:37:18. > :37:26.best, around 54.6. She is so full of running in the home straight...
:37:26. > :37:30.Spencer. It is a world lead, a meeting record, a personal best. It
:37:30. > :37:40.is not a national record, that is still held by Melaine Walker, but
:37:40. > :37:40.
:37:40. > :37:44.Congratulations, up to do that so close to the world championships!
:37:44. > :37:49.am in great shape. I came here today wanting to get a personal
:37:49. > :37:53.best and added that. Three more weeks for the World Championships.
:37:53. > :37:59.Hopefully I will be running a faster time. How much more do you
:37:59. > :38:05.have? I hope lots. I have been training hard. A world record would
:38:05. > :38:10.be great but I am focused again when first. But to get such a huge
:38:10. > :38:17.personal best, half a second off, that must be amazing. I am very,
:38:17. > :38:24.very happy. I came here to do just that and I did so. Congratulations.
:38:24. > :38:30.Perri Shakes Drayton. What a finish. An amazing finish to take third.
:38:30. > :38:35.Yeah, very happy with that performance. A season's best over
:38:35. > :38:41.the hurdles this year. Hopefully more to come when it comes to the
:38:41. > :38:47.world championships. Some people there got personal-best so I think
:38:47. > :38:50.I have done very well actually! saw the article in the Telegraph
:38:50. > :38:55.for you, you are the poster girl for the East End going towards
:38:55. > :39:00.London. How does that fit? It is a nice feeling getting attention but
:39:00. > :39:04.I will not let that get to my head too much. I will let them running
:39:05. > :39:09.do the talking, that is my failings. Until I get the medals, you can
:39:09. > :39:19.save them type of things. I am chasing, trained to be number one
:39:19. > :39:26.
:39:27. > :39:33.in the world. Enjoy the reception Spencer. It certainly was. In fact,
:39:33. > :39:38.equal now with Sandra Farmer- Patrick, we all remember that name.
:39:38. > :39:42.Melaine Walker, the Olympic champion from three years ago, in
:39:42. > :39:47.second place, and Perri Shakes Drayton, certainly in form, beating
:39:47. > :39:54.the former world No. 1 Zuzana Hejnova. Eilidh Child slightly
:39:54. > :39:58.outside what she requires. To get to the world championships. And
:39:58. > :40:05.there is the Diamond League situation. Kaliese Spencer his way
:40:05. > :40:14.up the top and Zuzana Hejnova will be disappointed with that. Perri
:40:14. > :40:19.Shakes Drayton, on the board, in All sport is full of teenage
:40:19. > :40:23.shooting Stars 24-worth but Jodie Williams could be our first female
:40:23. > :40:29.sprinting star for 30 years -- teenager shooting Stars, who fall
:40:29. > :40:35.down to worth. We will speak to her in a moment. That was an immense
:40:35. > :40:40.performance in the 400 of stock fantastic! I haven't seen times
:40:40. > :40:46.like that for a long time. I was particularly impressed with Perri
:40:46. > :40:51.Shakes Drayton. It was a very difficult race, she acquitted
:40:51. > :40:57.herself extremely well and it is great to see her doing so well.
:40:57. > :41:01.hard is it psychologically? On the bend, 200 to go and Perri Shakes
:41:01. > :41:05.Drayton was clearly several strides from the people up front. Mentally
:41:05. > :41:09.you have to keep your pattern and rhythm. You have to say you will
:41:09. > :41:14.close that gap rather than think you cannot possibly catch them and
:41:14. > :41:20.that is the find of somebody who can achieve a lot. Absolutely, and

:41:24. > :41:29.could be tear. She kept her own mind and ended up with a season's

:41:47. > :41:56.in 1993. What do you say to her? for it. She has nothing to lose.
:41:56. > :42:06.She looks amazing. She has a brand new haircut. Crucial! She looks
:42:06. > :42:06.
:42:06. > :42:10.great. She also could go for Kathy Cook's world junior record.
:42:10. > :42:15.looks to be in incredible shape. She has a very wise head as well.
:42:15. > :42:20.It will be interesting. If she runs really well, let's just say she
:42:20. > :42:28.comes third out of the blue, surely there has to be a rethink about the
:42:28. > :42:32.world championships Oster not necessarily because she has already
:42:32. > :42:37.had 10 per major championships this year. And she won them. It is about
:42:37. > :42:42.gaining experience. It is exciting for all of us because not many of
:42:42. > :42:52.us have seen her run at this level. Opportunity knocks for Jodie

:43:03. > :43:07.decision that Jodie Williams should not go to the world championships.

:44:52. > :44:58.medallist at the 100 metres. Conditions are pretty good. It is
:44:58. > :45:01.still warm but a slight breeze in the home straight. Let's hope that
:45:01. > :45:07.can settle a bit and let the athletes really let rip in the home

:46:14. > :46:20.and her first taste of the Diamond League athletics. It will be
:46:20. > :46:28.interesting to see what her reaction was. Solomon was really
:46:28. > :46:33.disappointing. Bianca Knight wins her second Diamond League event.
:46:33. > :46:38.thought Jodie Williams got a solid start. Not spectacular. You can see

:46:48. > :46:53.
:46:53. > :46:58.beginning to stretch away, but she hung in there. She is not in the

:47:11. > :47:19.competitors. I fear she may be the top two. Solomon came here as

:52:22. > :52:28.athlete, where does the Olympics sit with you? Are you excited?
:52:28. > :52:37.Olympics is a special sport. Everybody, every athlete, is
:52:37. > :52:42.focused to see that he wins the Olympics. My father won a medal in
:52:42. > :52:50.1968. He is still remembered because of that. That is the thing
:52:50. > :52:57.for you now, to start winning medals. Yes, breaking the world
:52:57. > :53:06.record twice last year, it was a great achievement for me. It was a
:53:06. > :53:12.great feeling. But also, winning the world title and an Olympic
:53:12. > :53:20.medal, it is also some think that will boost my career. That is what
:53:20. > :53:26.I am focused on. Having the world record is like having one part of
:53:26. > :53:34.some think, but still missing two other things. The world title and
:53:34. > :53:38.the Olympics. That is why I am focused to see that. I want to make
:53:38. > :53:43.it balance. Here in London, you are racing against one of your great
:53:43. > :53:50.rivals, Abubaker Kaki. Where does this race fitting for you into the
:53:50. > :53:56.overall plan of winning the world title? Remained here, for the first
:53:56. > :54:03.time, meeting together this year, it will be geared to them together
:54:03. > :54:08.and to compete together. -- it will be good. He will give me a stiff
:54:08. > :54:14.competition in Korea. We are standing wide by the track,
:54:14. > :54:19.10 yards away from David Rudisha. He is so tall. When you think about
:54:19. > :54:27.Kenyan athletes, you think they will be short. He has got to be 6
:54:27. > :54:32.ft plus. He is hoping to take Steve Cram's recorder. To a selling job
:54:32. > :54:42.of him. He is still relatively unknown, yet he is a phenomenal
:54:42. > :54:46.
:54:46. > :54:52.lovely running action. He has had a few problems with injuries. He is
:54:52. > :54:58.still not proving yet. We all know he can run fast, but he has not
:54:58. > :55:02.proven it in a major championships. He has not proven it across three
:55:02. > :55:06.rounds. He is an incredible talent, but he has to win the World
:55:06. > :55:11.Championships and perhaps the Olympics. Tonight, he has got a
:55:11. > :55:21.great athlete against him, Abubaker Kaki. We will see a fast race
:55:21. > :55:21.
:55:21. > :55:31.tonight. The all-comers record should have gone years ago! 1:33.2
:55:31. > :55:43.

:56:39. > :56:49.After these huge disappointment of falling at the trials last week, he

:57:30. > :57:38.that race. I will talk more about Abubaker Kaki. Three minutes 31 for
:57:38. > :57:45.1500. It will be fast, it will be a right scrap over the first few
:57:45. > :57:50.hundred metres. They both like to go out harder. The world record
:57:50. > :58:00.holder will probably want to control it from the front. This is
:58:00. > :58:01.
:58:01. > :58:08.a pacemaker. 49.5. If he was not there, they would go that hard
:58:08. > :58:18.anyway, I am sure! Abubaker Kaki against David Rudisha, the 800
:58:18. > :58:25.
:58:25. > :58:31.the pacemaker. I thought it would be a race for the first 200!
:58:31. > :58:40.Abubaker Kaki heads out as fast as he can. The pacemaker is sprinting
:58:40. > :58:45.to get to the front. I think that was inside 24 seconds. Yes, that is
:58:45. > :58:55.why the pacemaker had to sprint to get to the front. Le Cap David

:59:14. > :59:20.Rudisha, the world record holder. - action. Can he be strong enough in
:59:20. > :59:30.the back straight? Abubaker Kaki is in a great place. The strength and
:59:30. > :59:39.
:59:40. > :59:48.stamina will tell. Abubaker Kaki action. It never changes. There is
:59:48. > :59:57.a two-metre gap. David Rudisha has the advantage. Abubaker Kaki has
:59:57. > :00:04.defined a bit more. David Rudisha is handing on. -- hanging on. It is
:00:04. > :00:08.a new meeting record, and the British all-comers record. David
:00:08. > :00:14.Rudisha and Abubaker Kaki giving us a real display of 800 metres
:00:14. > :00:19.running it. Abubaker Kaki has got to get in front of him. You have
:00:19. > :00:23.got to have a plan to beat David Rudisha. At the moment, he can
:00:23. > :00:33.control it, and he has the speed and ability to run those times at
:00:33. > :00:39.
:00:39. > :00:46.will. It is good to see them race David Rudisha. That is a UK records
:00:46. > :00:55.that Steve Cram set back at the Commonwealth Games in 1986. He is
:00:55. > :01:02.following the pacemaker, David Rudisha. To 26 seconds for their
:01:02. > :01:12.second so 200 metres. Then he sort for the third 200 metres. -- then
:01:12. > :01:18.he slowed down. At this point, Abubaker Kaki needed to be a couple
:01:18. > :01:22.of inches closer. Look at that stride and the power. His arms are
:01:22. > :01:28.driving and he is pumping away there. He is not giving Abubaker
:01:28. > :01:38.Kaki any chance. It is a narrow victory, but he has just run the
:01:38. > :01:39.
:01:39. > :01:48.legs of Sport 8 mac. A fine performance by David Rudisha. A
:01:48. > :01:52.really good performance also for Andrew Osagie. There will be a very
:01:52. > :02:00.happy British athlete out there because Andrew Osagie has managed
:02:00. > :02:08.to just scrapped -- it's great inside the A Standard. He is in 5th
:02:08. > :02:16.place. Andrew Osagie will be over the moon. He ran so well last week,
:02:16. > :02:22.so he will qualify for the team in Daegu. Now we can speak to David
:02:22. > :02:29.Daegu. Now we can speak to David Rudisha. You have just taken the
:02:29. > :02:33.records from Steve Cram. How do you feel? I feel great. It was good. I
:02:33. > :02:39.was in good shape. I knew I was going to take that recurred.
:02:39. > :02:46.Yesterday, I said I would do it. You controlled the race from the
:02:46. > :02:52.front and you knew that Abubaker Kaki would be your greatest rival.
:02:52. > :02:59.I tried to control the race all the way. I knew that if I had a good
:02:59. > :03:03.finish at the last bend, then I would take the race. You want
:03:03. > :03:08.you're first world gold title, surely? That is my target this year.
:03:08. > :03:18.Good luck with that. Great to see you in Britain at last. Thank you
:03:18. > :03:21.
:03:21. > :03:30.you in Britain at last. Thank you good performance from Abubaker Kaki.
:03:30. > :03:36.A personal best in 5th place for Andrew Osagie. Let's get his
:03:36. > :03:40.Andrew Osagie. Let's get his thoughts now. I am sure you are
:03:41. > :03:48.delighted. You take all the boxes that you needed to do make your way
:03:48. > :03:57.to Daegu. That was always the plan. I am pleased that I have ran the A
:03:57. > :04:07.Standard. Mycock has put in a lot of effort. -- my ego coach has put
:04:07. > :04:08.
:04:08. > :04:14.You get caught up in the moment. You have to just go with that.
:04:14. > :04:19.Luckily, I did. At this early stage in your career, when you are racing
:04:19. > :04:23.against the likes of David Rudisha, is there an element of longing for
:04:23. > :04:31.you? At the back of my mind, I have always thought that I could get
:04:31. > :04:41.there. It is finally taking its toll and coming into shape.
:04:41. > :04:43.
:04:43. > :04:51.Wonderful to see. Enjoy Daegu. is one happy man there. Can we have
:04:51. > :04:58.a quick thought on Andrew Osagie and sport and nine mac? -- and
:04:58. > :05:05.David Rudisha. Effort less -- effort Lewis is the way to describe
:05:06. > :05:10.that. At that level, he makes it look so simple. If you watch
:05:10. > :05:19.Abubaker Kaki, he was working like a horse, but it was not going to
:05:19. > :05:27.happen. 0 Dwain Chambers at this meeting. Is this not the hypocrisy
:05:27. > :05:34.of the worst sort, where some people who have been done for drugs
:05:34. > :05:39.are allowed to come back and others are not? Personally, I think it is
:05:39. > :05:46.a farce. The rules say that you are banned and you have to serve your
:05:46. > :05:53.time. He should be here. The promoters are so inconsistent. It
:05:53. > :05:57.infuriates me. It also confuses the audience's. The promoters decide
:05:58. > :06:07.who they're going to invite. Unfortunately, Dwain Chambers is
:06:08. > :06:21.
:06:21. > :06:31.not flavour. This is a pretty hot who is in there. Craig Pickering of
:06:31. > :06:33.
:06:33. > :06:37.Great Britain is on the outside. Remaldo Rose is another Jamaican.
:06:37. > :06:46.At the Commonwealth Games a couple of years ago, we saw him in the
:06:46. > :06:53.relay race. Harry Aikines-Aryeetey. He is a long way of the very best
:06:53. > :07:01.in this heat and only three will go through to the final. Gerald Phiri
:07:01. > :07:11.is running for Zambia. Yohan Blake of Jamaica. He has developed
:07:11. > :07:21.
:07:21. > :07:31.wonderfully. Sport 25 mac of Trinidad and Tobago. Trell Kimmons
:07:31. > :07:38.
:07:38. > :07:45.of the United States. He is a very quick starter. Four Ana world
:07:45. > :07:52.champion Trell Kimmons. Craig Pickering did not start in the
:07:52. > :08:02.final last weekend, but is here tonight. There is a third spot in
:08:02. > :08:12.
:08:12. > :08:21.athletes would desperately love to make what is going to be a top-
:08:21. > :08:31.class final later on. Despite the fact we do not have Asafa Powell
:08:31. > :08:54.
:08:54. > :09:01.there. Yohan Blake is looking beautiful. It was very easy indeed.
:09:01. > :09:09.Yohan Blake was super us move there and made that look easy. -- was
:09:09. > :09:19.very smooth that there. It is a shame there is a slight breeze. It
:09:19. > :09:20.
:09:20. > :09:30.has taken the edge off a little. Trell Kimmons not too far away. An
:09:30. > :09:31.
:09:31. > :09:36.embarrassment of riches that the Jamaican team have. When you see
:09:36. > :09:46.Yohan Blake moving away and that middle section, the others were not
:09:46. > :09:47.
:09:47. > :09:57.able to move through. Will wait to see what happens in the second race,
:09:57. > :09:58.
:09:58. > :10:08.but Craig Pickering has done well. Yohan Blake is being nice and
:10:08. > :10:11.
:10:11. > :10:13.relaxed. He looks pretty comfortable. Very relaxed indeed.
:10:13. > :10:20.comfortable. Very relaxed indeed. Hopefully he will get below 10
:10:20. > :10:27.seconds in the final. If the conditions are favourable for the
:10:27. > :10:34.final, pillow 10 is within your reach? I just want to keep focused
:10:34. > :10:44.in the final. Tell me about a 100 metres seen as you see it this year,
:10:44. > :10:51.
:10:51. > :10:59.without Tyson Gay? Anything is possible. It will be an interesting
:10:59. > :11:03.one. Up at the final, much more to come from you? Definitely. I will
:11:04. > :11:13.call out there, keep focused and do my thing. All the best for that.
:11:14. > :11:14.
:11:14. > :11:23.my thing. All the best for that. Thank you. Yohan Blake easing down
:11:23. > :11:26.at the end. Harry Aikines-Aryeetey is the fastest loser so far. He
:11:26. > :11:36.will have to wait and see whether he will make it through to the
:11:36. > :11:42.
:11:42. > :11:52.final later. Can Goldie Sayers improve on her previous attempt?
:11:52. > :11:52.
:11:52. > :12:00.That is better. She needed something beyond 61 metres. That
:12:00. > :12:08.was a good competitive performance from her. Real model of technique.
:12:08. > :12:18.She is consistent and have a big throw. She hits it hard. It is not
:12:18. > :12:20.
:12:20. > :12:30.in on the door of 63 metres. Good effort. Called Rose has finished in
:12:30. > :12:32.
:12:32. > :12:37.third place. That is a good way to third place. That is a good way to
:12:37. > :12:41.go. After words, Goldie Sayers spoke to us.
:12:41. > :12:48.A tremendous performance, finishing third in the javelin. A tiny taster
:12:48. > :12:52.of what is to come next year. was a promising performance,
:12:52. > :12:58.especially in the last round. Unfortunately, I am around at the
:12:58. > :13:06.same time as some of the best ever. It is tough competition. To come
:13:06. > :13:15.third in a medal position before the World Championships is good.
:13:15. > :13:20.Very promising. What about your overall feeling? I know you have
:13:20. > :13:25.had injury problems the four major championships before. Do you think
:13:25. > :13:31.you have more to do? There is a lot to do. And had an injury in April.
:13:31. > :13:41.My team are fantastic. It is nice to be healthy before or major
:13:41. > :13:41.
:13:41. > :13:45.championships. It is quite exciting. It is nice to do well at Diamond
:13:45. > :13:53.League meetings. The crowd was fantastic and I gave me an idea of
:13:53. > :14:00.what it will be like next year. It comes down to September, though.
:14:00. > :14:10.are right behind you. All very best. are right behind you. All very best.
:14:10. > :14:14.
:14:14. > :14:24.Thank you. Now let's look at that triple jump. This season best was
:14:24. > :14:26.
:14:26. > :14:35.for the athlete in third place. Here are the diamond race standings.
:14:35. > :14:45.The finals from Zurich will be on the BBC. Now it, the men's long
:14:45. > :14:47.
:14:47. > :14:55.jump. Nobody is over 8 mac metres so far. Greg Rutherford is, though.
:14:55. > :14:58.There is a battle between him and Chris Tomlinson. The last two
:14:58. > :15:08.British record holders are going head-to-head. Some pride is at
:15:08. > :15:09.
:15:09. > :15:14.stake. Chris Tomlinson had a massive jump earlier this season.
:15:14. > :15:24.When you look at the likes of Irving Saladino and Mitchell Watt,
:15:24. > :15:32.great competition. Chris Tomlinson has a chance to respond immediately.
:15:32. > :15:42.The gauntlet has been laid down by his British rival. I tell you what,
:15:42. > :15:50.
:15:50. > :15:54.it is blow for blow in the men's Rutherford or Tomlinson, if they
:15:54. > :16:00.get it right in Daegu, they could come back with a world championship
:16:00. > :16:10.mettle. 8.14 metres, just a few centimetres behind, and that set
:16:10. > :16:25.
:16:25. > :16:35.the scene for a great long jump time of Harry Aikines-Aryeetey is
:16:35. > :16:36.
:16:36. > :16:46.Championships, Mark Lewis-Francis disqualified for a false start.
:16:46. > :16:56.Just when he needed it most, or when he didn't need it most. Marlon
:16:56. > :17:02.
:17:02. > :17:09.Devonish is in the best seat for Daniel Bailey. Nesta Carter, gold
:17:09. > :17:19.medal winning relay member. 19 men this year so far under 10 seconds
:17:19. > :17:26.
:17:26. > :17:31.in the world, that is a lot. Thompson it is surprising in one of
:17:31. > :17:35.the few men coming to run in this Diamond League event you are not
:17:35. > :17:41.British who have not run under 10 seconds. Great performance Fort
:17:41. > :17:50.Marlon Devonish last week, 10.14. So many British sprinters running
:17:50. > :18:00.the A Standard, the top two got selected. He is in with his third
:18:00. > :18:27.
:18:27. > :18:37.French record. Neston -- Nesta prove, could he have got in among
:18:37. > :18:53.
:18:53. > :18:57.the top three last week other than start, and also Daniel Bailey. But
:18:58. > :19:07.in his head, Nesta Carter leading them, Richard Thompson finished
:19:08. > :19:10.
:19:10. > :19:15.quickly. But the Brits behind these four, 10.03. The wind is zero. I
:19:15. > :19:20.suggest that Thompson will make it through as either the fastest loser,
:19:20. > :19:23.almost definitely well, and then they will have to fix it after that,
:19:23. > :19:27.Carter, not quite as fast as Michael Rodgers but pretty
:19:28. > :19:36.impressive once he got moving. A good time for a heat as well.
:19:37. > :19:40.it certainly was. 10.04. Certainly driving here. In lanes 3 and four,
:19:40. > :19:44.Mark Lewis-Francis being left a little bit as was Marlon Devonish.
:19:44. > :19:47.Was a final it will be but what about Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, or
:19:47. > :19:51.Marlon Devonish for that matter. Have they got a chance of making it
:19:52. > :19:59.through? We will know in a moment. Colin, what do you think about that
:20:00. > :20:05.An opportunity for new faces, but Nesta Carter is more than capable
:20:05. > :20:11.of taking his time. He has got a massive stride when he gets going,
:20:11. > :20:15.he goes down the track and in unusual fashion but he is running
:20:15. > :20:21.very close this year, he has run a Asafa Powell close this year. A
:20:21. > :20:26.real quality athlete. From the Jamaican school of sprinting, a
:20:26. > :20:30.powerful runner. Right in the centre of the field. Watch how late
:20:30. > :20:37.he takes it. Everybody else is looking ahead. Now Nesta Carter
:20:37. > :20:41.gets into his flow. He has a very, very unusual stride. Very long. And
:20:41. > :20:45.to the left of him, the contrast, Michael Rodgers from America, again
:20:45. > :20:55.under 10 seconds and more than capable of doing something special
:20:55. > :21:12.
:21:12. > :21:16.in the final. My man may is on Not the best way to end the night's
:21:16. > :21:20.work, you are just one hundredth of a second away from making it.
:21:20. > :21:24.to hold back on my start. I got a false start last week and if you
:21:24. > :21:33.look at the race, I was one of the last out of the blocks. It is not
:21:33. > :21:37.an excuse but it is my 6th race of the season, I am walking away
:21:37. > :21:43.without injury. What has been in your mind this week bearing in mind
:21:43. > :21:49.what happened last week? I needed to be with a good time to get into
:21:49. > :21:53.the world championship team. I ran 10.03 today, not the world's best
:21:53. > :21:59.but I wish I had one more race to go to see if I could do better than
:21:59. > :22:04.what I just did. Individual out of the way now, relay all the way?
:22:04. > :22:12.their, man. I will fight all the way. I still think I can do it --
:22:12. > :22:16.no way, man. For I have only been fully fit for the past three weeks.
:22:16. > :22:21.It is progression. This is what you did last year at the championships.
:22:21. > :22:28.Exactly, I need to raise my game, I need an opportunity but we will see.
:22:28. > :22:32.I appreciate that. Thank you. We have more than Mo Farah in the
:22:32. > :22:41.distance events, Chris Thompson ran so well last year, but will have to
:22:42. > :22:48.run well this evening if he wants Interesting selection than the 100
:22:48. > :22:54.metres, what would you do Colin? is very tricky. Marlon has done
:22:54. > :22:58.himself to get through it. Someone for the relay as well, a 10th
:22:58. > :23:04.athlete to consideration. Hand on heart, most of us are looking at a
:23:04. > :23:08.relay medal. I think so. I think we need the strongest, most
:23:08. > :23:14.experienced people in the field. stock about the distance buzz.
:23:14. > :23:18.Brendan Foster is in our commentary position. How much can Mo Farah be
:23:18. > :23:22.a catalyst to what has been a fairly dormant sector of track-and-
:23:22. > :23:26.field over the years? To be honest, last year in the European
:23:26. > :23:30.Championships, he did galvanise it. They finished first and second in
:23:30. > :23:33.the 10,000 metres and Chris Thompson took it on from there. A
:23:33. > :23:39.really good performance and then earlier this year, he ran faster
:23:39. > :23:42.over 10,000 metres than Mo Farah had ever run. We look like we had
:23:43. > :23:51.two world-class distance runners, but sadly Chris Thompson got
:23:51. > :23:59.injured and is now struggling. Mo Farah has gone faster by second --
:23:59. > :24:04.by half a minute. We saw him challenging Haile Gebrselassie and
:24:04. > :24:07.now he is nervous, concerned, he may not even run fast enough to get
:24:07. > :24:11.on a plane to Daegu so it just shows you the contrast in the
:24:11. > :24:15.fortunes of two outstanding athletes actually. So in terms of
:24:15. > :24:20.tactics, what would you advise him to do? Run as hard as the can for
:24:20. > :24:26.as long as he can to be honest! Straight forward! A simple thing,
:24:26. > :24:36.this running! If it had not been a simple thing, me and Steve Cram
:24:36. > :24:47.
:24:48. > :24:55.this man's 5,000 metres. Andy Vernon in there. He has got a
:24:55. > :24:59.chance of running a B Standard. Great Mottram in there, he is also
:24:59. > :25:06.in the 3,000 metres later on with Mo Farah. Chris Thompson has got a
:25:06. > :25:10.real job on his hands and Mo Farah in introduce any of this week he
:25:10. > :25:14.said maybe not as clear as he could have done, that 10,000 metres is a
:25:14. > :25:19.priority and if things go well in that he feels he will do the 5,000
:25:19. > :25:28.metres. You cannot therefore take somebody with eight B Standard if
:25:28. > :25:38.they have got a A Standard. Chris will want to run the A Standard
:25:38. > :25:46.
:25:46. > :25:51.around and a reason why this 5,000 metres perhaps was included in this
:25:51. > :25:54.programme schedule, Chris Thompson is delighted it is here, but we
:25:54. > :26:02.were hearing rumours that Kenenisa Bekele might want to have a run out.
:26:02. > :26:07.It has not materialised. We will have to see if Kenenisa Bekele will
:26:07. > :26:11.be there to defend at least his 10,000 metres title, may be the
:26:11. > :26:21.5,000 metres title as well in Daegu. Andy Vernon there, former UK
:26:21. > :26:29.
:26:29. > :26:33.the German team with that qualification time. Chris Thompson,
:26:33. > :26:40.his partner Gemma Simpson, will be running in the 800 metres later.
:26:40. > :26:46.She has had problems as well. But it is Chris's turn first in the
:26:46. > :26:53.5,000 metres. So lapse of about 54 seconds would give them an even
:26:53. > :27:03.paced run. I suppose Chris will be hoping he is not the anyone wanting
:27:03. > :27:04.
:27:04. > :27:11.to at least wrong with the pace a little here. Our pacemaker will be
:27:11. > :27:14.Titus, the Kenyan. It is always easier said than done going through
:27:14. > :27:19.the first few laps. When you have got the likes of Craig Mottram in

:27:56. > :27:59.Everybody has been in the position of Chris Thompson. You know you're

:29:12. > :29:16.is further... It is so simple. Takes off, hangs in the air and
:29:16. > :29:21.this season as you can see from that, a rather satisfied look. He
:29:21. > :29:25.has jumped incredibly well. couple of years ago when we saw

:29:34. > :29:38.I think we had a chuckle from some people around the world thinking,
:29:38. > :29:42.Chris Tomlinson, aged pod 50 metres? But I tell you what, now
:29:42. > :29:48.that he has jumped 8.35 and his confidence is up, you have got to

:31:03. > :31:10.
:31:10. > :31:19.first 600 metres, it has slowed a little. Titus Kipjumba Mbishei will

:31:29. > :31:29.
:31:29. > :31:34.to keep up the pace. Ben True is in third place. He is beginning to

:31:46. > :31:50.Maybe he has lost some fair as, but he must stick to the task. Chris

:32:16. > :32:21.that, having run over 10,000 metres, his basic strength is there. Other

:32:35. > :32:45.Chris Thompson looks to be having a rough time. The time at 2,000

:33:07. > :33:14.Perhaps it could be a deliberate ploy to hang back, but you would

:33:38. > :33:42.Watt is in first place. Chris Tomlinson is in second. The
:33:42. > :33:49.conditions are beautiful for horizontal jumping. Warm with a

:34:16. > :34:16.
:34:16. > :34:26.Greg Rutherford is more solid this year. Eight metres 17. No
:34:26. > :34:41.

:34:51. > :35:10.
:35:10. > :35:19.the second group mac of two is the B Standard. If he can achieve
:35:19. > :35:27.that, he will improve within a few weeks. With Mo Farah already having
:35:27. > :35:35.reached the A Standard, we note that Chris Thompson will get better
:35:35. > :35:39.within a few weeks. He has struggled from coming back from
:35:39. > :35:45.injury and adversity and worked very hard. He enjoyed his moment of
:35:45. > :35:49.glory last summer in the European Championships. He is a very good
:35:49. > :35:54.athlete and is an inspiration to others. As he has done before, he
:35:54. > :36:00.will stick to his task now. I hope he is getting some information
:36:00. > :36:06.because this is an important race in his career. It looks as though

:36:16. > :36:21.off the pace. The leaders are also slowing down. Chris Thompson is not

:37:19. > :37:24.that -- Craig Mottram back false start -- back. More confidence as
:37:24. > :37:31.he is winning races. That is very important for distance running. You
:37:31. > :37:36.have to get confidence from winning races. Now, there is a big group

:39:58. > :40:04.Strong performance from Craig Mottram. Another confidence-
:40:04. > :40:13.building run. He has been finding it harder over the last few years,
:40:13. > :40:23.but is coming into some good form. Ben True of America takes second
:40:23. > :40:29.place. Andy Vernon is the next British athlete after Chris
:40:29. > :40:37.Thompson. That was hard work for Chris Thompson. He set out with
:40:38. > :40:44.great intent. The lack of fitness when you have not put a training in
:40:44. > :40:50.our been able to race for three months really shows. No problems
:40:50. > :40:54.for Craig Mottram. Chris Thompson is a very good athlete and it is a
:40:54. > :41:04.shame to see him struggle to run a time he is normally capable of

:50:18. > :50:24.you can ever accuse her of doing anything less than her very, very

:50:49. > :50:53.who has been outstanding this year, it looks like she will win this is
:50:54. > :50:59.leak. But then Jenny Meadows has just come quickly there through and
:50:59. > :51:03.Emma Jackson in 4th place with two of them battling it out, going for
:51:03. > :51:07.standard times. They will be close to those times and it will be

:51:12. > :51:17.the finishing straight, Jenny Meadows driving and finding the
:51:17. > :51:21.extra gear. I am a big fan of Jenny Meadows but I have been a bit
:51:21. > :51:26.nervous on their behalf but I tell you what, that was an impressive
:51:26. > :51:30.performance. Tactically brilliant. Performance-wise, strong and
:51:30. > :51:34.determined. Driving and running on at the finish. That is the best
:51:34. > :51:38.site you can see for an 800 metres runner. You know they're going to
:51:38. > :51:44.be confident and Jenny Meadows can now go to Daegu excited about her

:52:10. > :52:17.oh, my goodness! A brave race for Marilyn Okoro, what a pity on her

:22:46. > :22:54.coming into some good form on the coached by Glenn Mills -- there he
:22:54. > :23:00.is. No Asafa Powell who had to pull out due to injury. It is a mouth-

:26:41. > :26:46.I am feeling great. Usain Bolt have been doing such a positive word.
:26:47. > :26:51.And I give him my thanks. Usain Bolt and Asafa Powell have inspired
:26:51. > :26:53.you on the way, what does it feel like to be alongside them and
:26:53. > :27:00.possibly challenging them in the world championships? A wonderful
:27:00. > :27:03.feeling. Nesta Carter and all those guys, they are wonderful. You have
:27:03. > :27:13.entertained as thoroughly tonight, all the best for the World
:27:13. > :27:17.
:27:17. > :27:23.Yohan Blake, into that head wind. Nesta Carter taking second place
:27:23. > :27:29.but to be honest, they were never close. A rather disappointing
:27:29. > :27:32.performance from Harry Aikines- JOHN INVERDALE: Interesting to talk
:27:32. > :27:36.about Harry in the context of what we were talking about earlier, in
:27:36. > :27:41.the hurdles, there are all shapes and sizes. No definitive right size
:27:41. > :27:44.to be as a 100 metres sprinter. But I know that you want to make a
:27:45. > :27:49.point about the training process. How much is it about the legs,
:27:49. > :27:52.upper-body strength? If you look at Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, he is very
:27:52. > :27:58.powerful in the upper body, do you think he has got too much focus on
:27:58. > :28:02.that? I think so. I have spoken with Michael Johnson about it, I
:28:02. > :28:07.think Colin tends to agree, he has just got too much bulk and he is
:28:07. > :28:11.not utilising it to his best ability, I think. We are talking
:28:11. > :28:15.about athletes and making the difference between finishing in
:28:15. > :28:20.finals, making semi-finals and I think Harry is limiting his ability,
:28:20. > :28:25.I really do. He is way too big. he is spending too much time in the
:28:25. > :28:30.gym, do you think it is as simple as that? It is his natural genetics

:28:49. > :28:52.sportsmen, the machismo of this and bench pressing and so on, if you
:28:52. > :28:58.are not careful you can get sidetracked into peripheral stuff
:28:58. > :29:02.but in his instance, it is about running fast. It is all about
:29:02. > :29:07.relative factors. I do not know whether he has been as effective as
:29:07. > :29:13.he could have been. He is a talented guy, looking towards under

:29:23. > :29:29.people out there are ahead of you when you cannot get under 10
:29:29. > :29:35.seconds. They know that and they have just been slightly missing the
:29:35. > :29:40.boat. As he comes closer to home, people like Christophe Lemaitre
:29:40. > :29:46.running their times. They think and make people think how they approach
:29:46. > :29:52.have their training because in Christophe Lemaitre can run 9.90,
:29:52. > :29:59.then so can they. It is a difficult task, it really is. There's always

:30:12. > :30:19.athletics fan, you may not know about this lady but she has been
:30:19. > :30:25.around since... Forever! And she is 51 years old. She ran in the Moscow
:30:25. > :30:31.Olympic Games in 1998, the famous ones and there she is. 31 years on
:30:31. > :30:37.and running whatever she will run. However you are, however old you
:30:37. > :30:47.are, sitting on the sofa and drinking a third glass of wine,
:30:47. > :30:55.
:30:55. > :31:00.I asked her how it she felt. She said that she felt great.
:31:00. > :31:07.Unfortunately, the baton of only did two changes that time, so she
:31:07. > :31:14.did not go down the home straight. What are you doing, taking the soft
:31:14. > :31:23.option! She looks fantastic. There will be some 51-year-old women out
:31:23. > :31:30.there feeling depressed. She looks sensational. This is an invitation
:31:30. > :31:40.race. Mo Farah will be running in the next 10 minutes, but, before
:31:40. > :31:45.
:31:45. > :31:54.the next 10 minutes, but, before have two teams. Their team for
:31:54. > :31:59.America is not official, hence the name. It is a good opportunity for
:31:59. > :32:05.some of the teams to stretch their legs. There is a qualifying
:32:05. > :32:15.standard for Daegu. If Slovenia not want to be there, they must get
:32:15. > :32:20.
:32:20. > :32:27.within 44 seconds today. So read a Solomon is the lead runner for --
:32:27. > :32:34.Solomon is the lead runner for the second British team. Germany is
:32:34. > :32:38.always solid in the changeovers. Consistently one of the best teams
:32:38. > :32:48.in Europe. Stars and Stripes might not be an official team, but they
:32:48. > :33:21.
:33:21. > :33:30.have a lot of talent. 98 is in Britain. We do not have much
:33:30. > :33:40.information about the All Stars, I am afraid. One of the famous twin
:33:40. > :34:15.
:34:15. > :34:21.the race for the All Stars. Britain are in lanes two and six. Stars and
:34:21. > :34:29.Stripes have got off very quickly in lane four. The first British
:34:29. > :34:39.team is going well. Douglas has some chasing to do. She has been
:34:39. > :34:40.
:34:40. > :34:47.closed down by Jamaica. There is a problem. The first British team are
:34:47. > :34:53.really messed up that changeover. We will look at that later. Germany
:34:53. > :34:58.in lane three are being run down by the Stars and Stripes and Jamaica.
:34:58. > :35:08.The first British team is nowhere to be seen. Quite a quick time, but
:35:08. > :35:11.
:35:11. > :35:15.the opportunity for GBR one to get in a good practice. Their chance
:35:15. > :35:24.has been lost and that is disappointing just before the World
:35:24. > :35:34.Championships. I am sure we will have a close look at that, but it
:35:34. > :35:36.
:35:36. > :35:44.was a big disappointment, the changeover to Douglas. Down the
:35:44. > :35:48.back straight, once Douglas took the baton, she lost ground. The
:35:48. > :35:58.athletes inside and outside are overtaking her. She looks as though
:35:58. > :36:01.
:36:01. > :36:11.she is coming in tired. There was one attempt to pass the baton. The
:36:11. > :36:13.
:36:13. > :36:19.second attempt, they were outside the box, so not good. We need to
:36:19. > :36:24.have a solid lead a team -- solid relay team that has good baton
:36:24. > :36:29.changes, so that we can progress in the rounds and hope to get to the
:36:29. > :36:34.final. I am 51 years old in a few months and this woman has inspired
:36:34. > :36:44.me. I am going out running tomorrow. The time is just outside the
:36:44. > :36:50.
:36:50. > :36:58.Steve Cram is close to your age and you have inspired him. Many people
:36:58. > :37:03.will be watching. How was it? are hoping to run fast, but we had
:37:03. > :37:13.problems with the exchanges. We did our best. We will try again for
:37:13. > :37:16.
:37:16. > :37:22.next year Olympics. Your just outside the qualifying time. I want
:37:22. > :37:27.to thank the crowd for what they have done. I came here in 1980. I
:37:27. > :37:35.it like to thank all of the fans and all of the Jamaicans in the
:37:35. > :37:38.crowd. Wonderful to see you. You are and inspiration. I hate to say
:37:38. > :37:46.are and inspiration. I hate to say this, but neither of the British
:37:46. > :37:52.teams are finished the race. Stars and Stripes were the strongest on
:37:53. > :38:02.paper. They ran well. Jamaica was in second place. The All-Stars were
:38:02. > :38:11.brought home by Simpson of Jamaica. Now we can catch up with the
:38:11. > :38:16.women's pole vault. This was the first athlete to clear the latest
:38:16. > :38:26.height. Very nice clearance indeed. There are six athletes competing at
:38:26. > :38:31.
:38:31. > :38:41.this height. Four of them were to go clear. This was this athlete's
:38:41. > :38:51.second attempt. That was a season best. There was a personal best for
:38:51. > :38:53.
:38:53. > :39:03.the next athlete to go clear. The Greek record holder. This was her
:39:03. > :39:05.
:39:05. > :39:13.third and final attempt. Great performance there from the Greek
:39:14. > :39:23.record holder, with a new Greek record. Third attempt for the world
:39:24. > :39:29.
:39:29. > :39:36.leader as well. She has had injury problems over the years. Four
:39:36. > :39:43.athletes clear at that height of four metres and 71. Then, the bar
:39:43. > :39:53.moved up to four metres and 79. Only one athlete was to clear that
:39:53. > :39:55.
:39:55. > :40:05.height. This was her second attempt. The big news in pole vaulting is
:40:05. > :40:21.
:40:21. > :40:31.the battle between the top two events. We have won at track events
:40:31. > :40:50.
:40:50. > :40:53.still to come for some Mo Farah performance from David Rudisha.
:40:53. > :41:03.Cons and it piece of tactical running from Jenny Meadows. Well
:41:03. > :41:14.
:41:14. > :41:24.under two minutes. -- consider that the men's 100-metre final. The only
:41:24. > :41:29.
:41:29. > :41:35.man to get under 10 seconds. Tyson Gay and Usain Bolt were not there,
:41:35. > :41:43.but Yohan Blake could be a strong but Yohan Blake could be a strong
:41:43. > :41:47.The reception you got in Birmingham was good. It almost seems like the
:41:47. > :41:53.fans have a greater awareness of what you are achieving. Two you get
:41:53. > :41:59.a sense of that? 100%. The crowd started cheering and it was nice to
:41:59. > :42:05.have. I could not believe it. You'll get the same here again no
:42:05. > :42:10.doubt. Tell me about were the 3,000 metres fit send to your overall
:42:10. > :42:19.plan in the build-up to Daegu. have to stay focused. This is where
:42:19. > :42:26.it matters. This race is very important. It could be my last race
:42:26. > :42:30.before Daegu. I need to keep doing what I am doing. When we spoke at
:42:30. > :42:36.the trials, you explain that you were going to do the 10,000 metres
:42:36. > :42:41.at Daegu and see how your body shape up for the 5,000. This week,
:42:41. > :42:48.there have been stories confusing that issue. Can you tell us you are
:42:48. > :42:54.plans? 100%. I am definitely going to concentrate on the 10,000. Once
:42:54. > :42:59.I get that out the way, I will see how I come after that race. It is
:42:59. > :43:04.25 laps round the track. I will have a bath and see the medical
:43:04. > :43:11.team. If I recover, I will come back for the 5,000. It just depends
:43:11. > :43:19.how I come off the 10,000. Let me ask you finally about London being
:43:19. > :43:26.so dear to your heart. One year to the Olympics. Is there an extra
:43:26. > :43:30.resonance around this event this year? Tomorrow, it will be one year
:43:30. > :43:35.until that race. The public is getting into the Olympics now. A
:43:35. > :43:43.lot of people are talking about this. We will have it right on our
:43:43. > :43:53.doorstep. I cannot get excited too much. I will have the World
:43:53. > :43:57.Championships first. We will all look forward, of course, with
:43:57. > :44:01.interest to those World Championships and what eventually
:44:01. > :44:06.transpires. For tonight, he is just going to concentrate on the shorter
:44:06. > :44:10.distance of 3,000 metres. It will be his last performance before
:44:10. > :44:20.returning to Salt Lake City to prepare for the World Championships.
:44:20. > :44:25.
:44:25. > :44:29.He is an Arsenal fan. Or maybe it He is an Arsenal fan. Or maybe it
:44:29. > :44:39.is Sunderland United. Mo Farah has a decent field against him. One he
:44:39. > :44:42.
:44:43. > :44:52.will expect, given his form. Some familiar names. Alistair Ian Cragg
:44:52. > :45:02.is not in great form this year. Has it is a small but select field.
:45:02. > :45:10.
:45:10. > :45:15.There is David Krummenacker. This really is a race... Mo Farah is
:45:15. > :45:25.receiving a great reception. He can practise his tactics in the final
:45:25. > :45:51.
:45:51. > :46:01.Cragg, a former European indoor indoors, still just 22 years of age.
:46:01. > :46:14.
:46:15. > :46:24.And then Kosgei. And then the OCR of tonight's Diamond League meeting
:46:25. > :46:30.
:46:30. > :46:37.here in Crystal Palace. Back again around Crystal Palace! And the man
:46:37. > :46:40.who will be looking to just come away with a nice victory here
:46:40. > :46:46.another confidence-boosting win. But no matter how good you are, it
:46:46. > :46:52.does not matter who you are, you have got to go out and do the
:46:52. > :46:56.business. And not sure we have had too much just to chat about Mo
:46:56. > :47:00.Farah but you must be over the moon with the way he has been running.
:47:00. > :47:05.Fantastic so far. He started the year with a cross-country win in
:47:05. > :47:12.Edinburgh. Almost invincible ever since. His 10,000 metres time,
:47:12. > :47:17.European record, taking 30 seconds off the British record time.
:47:17. > :47:20.Incidentally, he was 6th in the world championships in 2007. He was
:47:20. > :47:25.7th in the world championships in 2009 and he is definitely a better
:47:25. > :47:35.athlete. Clearly, Mo Farah he would have to say it has got to be one of
:47:35. > :47:35.
:47:35. > :47:41.the favourites, certainly a medal expectation. I think he could win
:47:41. > :47:46.it. I would be surprised if we find Kenenisa Bekele challenging. He has
:47:46. > :47:49.not raced for about two years. Clearly the outstanding athlete of
:47:49. > :47:53.this generation but he has not run a race before the championship. We
:47:54. > :47:59.have seen him do that sort of thing before but I will be surprised if
:47:59. > :48:07.Kenenisa Bekele turned out in Daegu and ran the 10,000 metres. A pretty
:48:07. > :48:17.good pacemaking so far from David Krummenacker. Although Mo Farah
:48:17. > :48:30.
:48:30. > :48:34.does not seem interested in closing reliable pacemaker. He is doing a
:48:34. > :48:37.pretty good job. And Collis Birmingham tracking the pacemaker
:48:37. > :48:41.but he has got a few yards and he will know that because he looks at
:48:41. > :48:47.the big screen and sees the fact that Mo Farah is leading the
:48:47. > :48:51.chasing group. And that he has a good athlete, is Collis Birmingham.
:48:51. > :48:55.You just wonder whether he would have a shot from here. Coming down
:48:55. > :48:59.the home straight, five laps to go, Collis Birmingham tracks David
:48:59. > :49:03.Krummenacker. Mo Farah has been in races with Collis Birmingham and
:49:03. > :49:07.knows how good he is. Not the biggest danger in the race but if
:49:07. > :49:13.he got away and got a gap, he could become a danger. But Mo Farah
:49:13. > :49:17.sensibly working his way gradually back and has really grown in
:49:18. > :49:26.confidence over this past year. The European double of 10,005 1,000
:49:26. > :49:33.metres. And now he is a much better after it -- a 10,000 and 5,000
:49:33. > :49:41.metre runner. We have not had a British athlete win those distances
:49:41. > :49:45.on a global competition. We had women win in 1991 in Turkey but it
:49:45. > :49:51.will be great to see Mo Farah see if he could get either a 5,000
:49:51. > :50:01.metres, 10,000 metres or may be even both. So the pacemaker stepped
:50:01. > :50:02.
:50:02. > :50:11.off, Collis Birmingham left in the lead. Collis Birmingham looking for
:50:11. > :50:21.a good rock here. We will see him really put his foot down at later
:50:21. > :50:24.
:50:24. > :50:29.on. He has been with his training partner, Galen Rupp. There are all
:50:29. > :50:39.heading back to the States earlier on and they will fly out to join
:50:39. > :50:39.
:50:39. > :50:46.the British team and different conditions in Daegu. They have run
:50:46. > :50:50.in Monaco and Eugene, it will be perhaps more hot and more humid.
:50:50. > :50:55.But is definitely ride. When they go to altitude, it is not the
:50:55. > :51:01.greatest preparation for running in those difficult conditions -- that
:51:01. > :51:06.is definitely right. And Mo Farah looks altogether different now, so
:51:06. > :51:10.smooth and comfortable. He has progressed significantly this year.
:51:10. > :51:17.Under the tutelage of his coach, I have known he has always had the
:51:17. > :51:20.talent but now he has got the coach of the ability of Alberto, he has
:51:20. > :51:24.been prepared to do the work and the distance and stick at it, he
:51:24. > :51:29.has travelled the world and trained in Kenya and is now training in
:51:29. > :51:34.America. He has always wanted to do anything that will make him better.
:51:34. > :51:38.You can see him glancing at the screen, he has got Gideon Gathimba
:51:38. > :51:43.behind him. Collis Birmingham working hard there as well. It will
:51:43. > :51:45.be interesting to see what kind of time Mo Farah can run off that.
:51:45. > :51:50.Possibly a personal best but he will have to run quickly but that
:51:50. > :51:58.will be a good challenge. He wants to take something out of this. And
:51:58. > :52:04.that might be the fact he has got a strong 800 metres. I agree. That is
:52:04. > :52:10.something he has probably had in his head for the past two laps. It
:52:10. > :52:16.is where he is really finding himself now, getting into the last
:52:16. > :52:26.two laps and get into the front and he wind it up and still has enough
:52:26. > :52:29.
:52:29. > :52:33.pace. His personal best outdoors is only 7.38, but he has run 7.34 In
:52:33. > :52:39.doors. He will have to start picking up probably about now to
:52:39. > :52:47.get close to that. You cannot do everything on the last lap although
:52:47. > :52:52.it will be quick. I am looking at this, he will struggle but he wants
:52:52. > :52:56.the victory here. Collis Birmingham is working at it, Alistair Cragg
:52:56. > :53:03.has run a good time. We rarely see him run well at Crystal Palace but
:53:03. > :53:07.he certainly running well now. Mo Farah is aware of that. In are so
:53:07. > :53:11.quick Alistair Cragg is. He is looking at Gideon Gathimba, he has
:53:11. > :53:16.worked himself from a really good position into a really bad position,
:53:16. > :53:20.giving away a few yards but he has got the confidence and ability. Can
:53:20. > :53:25.he do what we have seen him do on a few occasions? Cried is trying to
:53:25. > :53:29.win it from here. And now the crowd at Crystal Palace is getting
:53:29. > :53:36.excited. We have a true world-class distance runner and he is showing
:53:36. > :53:43.them how good he is. Now he just needs to stretch and let it go. But
:53:43. > :53:49.see how quick he can run in the last 200 metres. He is off!
:53:49. > :53:53.Farah is just putting on a demonstration here, a show for this
:53:53. > :53:56.Crystal Palace crowd. Sprinting away almost like Usain Bolt down
:53:56. > :54:05.the home straight. Look at the distance he has put between himself
:54:05. > :54:15.and the others! In the last 200 metres. Mo Farah wins it, seven:
:54:15. > :54:20.40.15. That is very, very quick indeed. Impressive performers once
:54:20. > :54:26.again. All he had to do was win here but Brendan said he would be
:54:26. > :54:30.looking for something to take away and those last 200 metres has given
:54:30. > :54:34.him added confidence, if he did not have it before. The finishing pace
:54:34. > :54:38.is blistering. That is absolutely right. We knew he could win this
