:01:22. > :01:26.It is hard to believe that it is just a week since the closing
:01:26. > :01:29.ceremony of the Paralympic Games, the end of London 2012 and the
:01:29. > :01:32.summer of sport the like of which we will probably never see again.
:01:32. > :01:37.It is a tough act to follow but if any event can do it, this one
:01:37. > :01:41.probably can. Welcome to highlight of the 2012 Great North Run. Some
:01:41. > :01:45.of the world's top distance runners are here to take on the famous
:01:46. > :01:51.half-marathon course. London Marathon champion Wilson Kipsang is
:01:51. > :01:55.looking to run away from a strong field again. Kit Sangin steed --
:01:55. > :01:59.Wilson Kipsang wins the London Marathon. Jo Pavey is chasing down
:01:59. > :02:04.a legend of the sport, the reigning Olympic 10,000 metres champion,
:02:04. > :02:08.Tirunesh Dibaba. Tirunesh Dibaba is the Olympic champion again. And we
:02:08. > :02:13.will see tens of thousands of runners taking to the roads for
:02:13. > :02:16.charity and hearing some of their amazing stories. Inspiration,
:02:16. > :02:20.legacy, certainly the buzzwords for 2012 and they can equally be
:02:20. > :02:23.applied to the Great North Run. Thousands of people with
:02:23. > :02:27.inspirational stories to tell and why they run this great race in a
:02:27. > :02:37.legacy of millions and millions of pounds raised for charity, which
:02:37. > :02:39.
:02:39. > :02:43.quite literally has changed A year ago, in September, I was in
:02:43. > :02:48.a Rob Pitt -- rocket propelled grenade attack in Afghanistan. I
:02:48. > :02:52.lost my arm. Last year, I ran the Great North Run in under two hours
:02:52. > :02:57.so I am trying to beat my personal best. You look like you have the
:02:57. > :03:03.eye of a tiger. What sort of time? One hour and 40 minutes would be
:03:03. > :03:08.great. I am not sure if I am doing it, I am started it. It is star-
:03:08. > :03:13.struck heaven here, it is Stella. I feel unfit. I will do my best. It
:03:13. > :03:19.is nice to see you again. How you feeling? So nervous, so excited, so
:03:20. > :03:24.excited. I can't believe I am doing it on a Sunday morning. Normally I
:03:24. > :03:29.am hung over. We are running for a good charity. Great Britain has had
:03:29. > :03:34.such a good Eurosport, having the Olympics, Andy Murray, and having
:03:34. > :03:39.races like this is amazing to help fund raiser and for people to run
:03:39. > :03:45.in these races is good. We joined up with leukaemia Randall at -- and
:03:45. > :03:52.lymphoma research, it is a great day, it is hard to describe it.
:03:52. > :03:58.is great to support Sara's hope. That is what it is about, raising
:03:58. > :04:01.money for charity. Sara's Hope Foundation, it is important to
:04:01. > :04:07.raise money for people with cancer. That is what we're here for today.
:04:07. > :04:12.If we can get round, we will be pleased and to make money. I will
:04:12. > :04:17.be lucky to break one hour and 40, but you might get one hour and 20?
:04:17. > :04:21.Under one hour and 30, and a one- hour and 20 would be great. After
:04:21. > :04:25.five miles, I will make a decision. We should have a ten minute
:04:25. > :04:31.handicapped raised, if we are within ten minutes, you will buy me
:04:31. > :04:36.dinner. What does it -- what are your words of support? These guys
:04:36. > :04:39.have done the training, they have to go out and enjoy it, running for
:04:39. > :04:43.loved ones or charity. It is important to enjoy it and not put
:04:43. > :04:48.pressure on yourself. I am sure they had a good night's sleep last
:04:48. > :04:52.night, which is important. Give them a high-five and give support.
:04:52. > :04:57.It has been a difficult year for you but you have got behind the
:04:57. > :05:02.Trust which you have started in John's name. Has it helped?
:05:02. > :05:06.Absolutely. It has been a tough year. I have had the support of so
:05:06. > :05:11.many wonderful people, not least the girls here, who are running
:05:11. > :05:15.with me. We have six girls who are wives and partners of the team. The
:05:15. > :05:20.team has been fantastic. I have brilliant family and friends and
:05:20. > :05:24.people connected to John's life, who have come forward and they have
:05:24. > :05:30.helped me support the Trust. We have come such a long way in the
:05:30. > :05:40.last year. OK, let's get to the action. Your commentators are
:05:40. > :05:42.
:05:42. > :05:47.Brendan Foster, Steve Cram and way at Josh Cassidy -- just cash
:05:47. > :05:54.the is expected along with Mickey Bushell, side by side, over the
:05:54. > :05:59.first part of the course -- Josh Cassidy. It is pretty much all the
:05:59. > :06:05.way down the hill to the Tyne Bridge, then the hard work begins.
:06:05. > :06:11.They won't have to do too much in the way of any real physical hard
:06:11. > :06:19.work, not until midway through the course. There is quite a few a pill
:06:19. > :06:25.sections. Then -- there are quite a few uphill sections, then the long
:06:25. > :06:29.drag to the finish line. Josh Cassidy -- Josh Cassidy, as
:06:29. > :06:39.expected, at the front and beginning to work very hard indeed,
:06:39. > :06:42.followed by Mickey Bushell. Away they go. In Olympic year, the elite
:06:42. > :06:48.field in the Great North Run setting off for what promises to be
:06:48. > :06:50.an enthralling race. Tirunesh Dibaba, in her first of a half
:06:50. > :06:54.marathon, can she bring the brilliant pedigree she has always
:06:54. > :06:58.shown as on the track onto the road? She is a good road runner,
:06:58. > :07:01.she has a good history of performances on the road. After all
:07:01. > :07:08.of hot exploits at the Olympic Games and indeed quite a few of
:07:08. > :07:13.these athletes here will have had victory at for what for many has
:07:13. > :07:18.been the end of a long season. The likes of Dibaba and Kiplagat, the
:07:18. > :07:24.Olympic marathon champion, Gelana, have come looking for a good race.
:07:24. > :07:29.The prospect of a fast time, as ever. We will be looking forward to
:07:29. > :07:36.seeing what Dibaba is capable of in the half marathon distance. It is
:07:36. > :07:42.great to see the world's most successful female athlete ever
:07:42. > :07:46.moving from the track. Three-times Olympic champion, four times world
:07:46. > :07:51.champion, four times world cross- country champion. The great
:07:51. > :07:54.Tirunesh Dibaba, at the back of that group. Jo Pavey is setting the
:07:54. > :07:58.pace. The world of athletics is waiting to see what Tirunesh Dibaba
:07:58. > :08:02.is going to do. She says she will move through to the marathon. She
:08:02. > :08:06.will be the most successful athlete ever to step up from the track to
:08:06. > :08:10.the marathon and maybe the future of marathon running is in her hands.
:08:10. > :08:15.She has been such an outstanding distance runner. She is right at
:08:15. > :08:19.the back. She runs like this on the track. She settles down next to the
:08:19. > :08:27.2009 winner, Jessica Augusto, who run -- run in the marathon in
:08:27. > :08:35.London. Tirunesh Dibaba has run -- has won the big races with her fast
:08:35. > :08:40.finishers. They missed Gelana in the middle and Jo Pavey, who had a
:08:40. > :08:44.fantastic Olympic Games, she came 7th in the 5,000m and the 10,000m.
:08:44. > :08:52.She is very happy to be here today and go back to what she wants to do,
:08:52. > :09:02.half marathons and marathons. Let's see how she does today. Here they
:09:02. > :09:21.
:09:21. > :09:25.go, the red, white and blue, which them. The countdown begins and the
:09:25. > :09:31.nerves start to jangle a little. What a day for all of our
:09:31. > :09:39.competitors to have. The Olympic champions setting them on their way,
:09:39. > :09:46.Greg Rutherford, Mo Farah, Ellie Simmonds. Fantastic to have them
:09:46. > :09:55.here in this great sporting year and the Great North Run as ever,
:09:55. > :09:59.one of our biggest and best events. One of which the elite are joined
:09:59. > :10:04.by thousands and thousands of others. They all have special
:10:04. > :10:14.challenges, they will have medals they will collect at the end. So
:10:14. > :10:14.
:10:14. > :10:19.many stories which we will tell you about. This might just take a
:10:19. > :10:22.little time because I'm not sure that when all of these people
:10:22. > :10:27.signed up to take part they could have imagined we would be standing
:10:27. > :10:33.on the start rostrum, the gold medals, the success of Team GB,
:10:33. > :10:41.would have had in the Olympic Games, I know how much it has meant to the
:10:41. > :10:46.nation as a whole. Now they get the chance today. We are back to the
:10:46. > :10:53.women's, going through five miles. Jelena Prokopcuka has taken over
:10:53. > :10:58.from Jo Pavey. Jo Pavey is settling there, Gelana just behind Jelena
:10:58. > :11:03.Prokopcuka and Tirunesh Dibaba is following, just getting the
:11:03. > :11:08.distance behind her. Gemma Steel of Great Britain in the red best, just
:11:08. > :11:11.behind Jo Pavey. She is running well. Edna Kiplagat, the world
:11:11. > :11:18.marathon champion, there is some talent there and both the British
:11:18. > :11:28.athletes are in that group. Back at the start, Mo Farah is enjoying the
:11:28. > :11:28.
:11:28. > :11:38.adulation. Over the Tyne Bridge they go. That is Leedham leading
:11:38. > :11:45.
:11:45. > :11:50.lead athletes being roared on by the crowd. The Tyne Bridge will
:11:50. > :11:54.slowly fill up. There is a Imana Merga, we are looking down the
:11:54. > :11:57.field to see whether British athletes are. We are looking for
:11:57. > :12:02.Chris Thompson, there he is in the green vest on the outside of the
:12:02. > :12:06.group. There is Nick McCormack, who run in the 5,000 metres in the
:12:06. > :12:10.Olympic Games, next to him. The crowds are starting to come through,
:12:10. > :12:14.the masses are starting to come through. Jo Pavey is sticking with
:12:14. > :12:20.it. We have noticed that Gemma Steel of Great Britain, who was
:12:20. > :12:26.doing well in there, is drifting. Jo Pavey has to knuckle down. She
:12:26. > :12:32.is just through the six-mile point. They are looking good here. This is
:12:32. > :12:37.looking as though Tirunesh Dibaba, just taking a closer order, so the
:12:37. > :12:43.two Olympic champions from Ethiopia, Gelana in second place, the Olympic
:12:43. > :12:47.10,000 Mater champion, Tirunesh Dibaba, the athlete who has won so
:12:47. > :12:52.many events and Championships at titles in her career. Then Edna
:12:52. > :12:55.Kiplagat, the world marathon champion. Jo Pavey is in extremely
:12:55. > :13:00.good company. She is coming under pressure nowt them are moving from
:13:00. > :13:10.side to side. She needs to hang onto the back of this group. She
:13:10. > :13:18.
:13:18. > :13:26.strong pace and in this group you have Micah Kogo and Emmanuel bet --
:13:26. > :13:34.and Emmanuel Bett. These three know each other well. Wilson Kipsang and
:13:34. > :13:39.Imana Merga are great athletes. I watched Emmanuel Bett winner
:13:39. > :13:42.10,000m last week, just under 27 minutes. He looked very strong.
:13:42. > :13:48.These three I know we're hoping to set a decent pace. They're going
:13:48. > :13:52.quickly. It will be interesting to see their split on the first mile
:13:52. > :13:57.and second mile, they have maintained it, 8.58. Quicker than
:13:57. > :14:03.last year, when we had a course record. They have started quickly
:14:03. > :14:06.and they will soon go through the three-mile point. I would first
:14:06. > :14:15.finisher this morning coming along the seafront, Josh Cassidy from
:14:15. > :14:19.Canada. He is about to win his third Great North Run. The soldiers
:14:19. > :14:22.that you see here today are the mixture of all five Guards
:14:22. > :14:32.battalions from the infantry training battalions at Catterick
:14:32. > :14:36.Garrison. A guard of honour for Josh Cassidy. He joins David Weir
:14:36. > :14:41.and others as multiple winners of the Great North Run and that will
:14:41. > :14:50.make up for a disappointing Paralympic Games for the Canadian.
:14:50. > :14:56.Jo Pavey has fallen away. You can see she is about 40 metres behind,
:14:56. > :15:04.at least, these four. With the exception of Jelena Prokopcuka, who
:15:04. > :15:08.is having a cracking race, and has done the eight miles, the last
:15:08. > :15:14.three miles have been running 15 minutes. That is why Jo Pavey is
:15:14. > :15:21.struggling to stay with this. This is very good running. There is
:15:21. > :15:25.confirmation, Jelena Prokopcuka, her best goes back to 2005, 68.11
:15:26. > :15:30.and she is running within that time, inside that time here. If she were
:15:30. > :15:34.to maintain this, not only is she giving the big names here a run for
:15:34. > :15:44.their money, she could be heading for a personal best. There is a
:15:44. > :15:44.
:15:44. > :15:50.long way to go but good running so impressive. She looks like she's
:15:50. > :15:55.keen to get on terms. The great Tirunesh Dibaba, following a few
:15:55. > :16:01.yards behind. Then Kiplagat, the world champion. Jo Pavey will not
:16:02. > :16:06.be able to stay with them for those few miles. But if she sticks with
:16:06. > :16:13.it, she's run a solid opening part of the race and she passed to raise
:16:13. > :16:17.hard. She is digging deep. Deep in concentration, deep on effort.
:16:17. > :16:23.Getting good support from the crowd at all points here. They have
:16:23. > :16:27.watched her at the Olympic Games. She plans to run a marathon later
:16:27. > :16:31.this year. For the moment, she has just got to work at it hard. She's
:16:31. > :16:35.running impressively. She could go close to her personal best. The
:16:35. > :16:41.race up front is a little bit quicker than that. It's good to see
:16:41. > :16:49.Jo digging in. There is the leader, with three Olympic champions behind
:16:49. > :16:54.her, world champions. World cross- country champions. A fantastic
:16:54. > :16:58.performance when she won the marathon in London, Tiki Gelana.
:16:58. > :17:05.She really wants to get on with this race. She knows how good
:17:05. > :17:12.Tirunesh Dibaba is in the later stages. Olympic long-jump champion,
:17:12. > :17:17.going with an Olympic effort with hi-fi is -- high-fives, Greg
:17:17. > :17:21.Rutherford. In the meantime, concentrating on the elite men.
:17:21. > :17:26.Maintaining really good pace. With the women, it's a solid pace, but
:17:26. > :17:33.this is a little bit more impressive from the men. An elite
:17:33. > :17:37.group of five. A big gap. Going through a little down whole section
:17:38. > :17:40.here. These next two or three miles are the quick miles. They've
:17:40. > :17:46.maintained a good pace through clear. We could be in for something
:17:46. > :17:50.pretty special. You can see the way that the flights are blowing. Yeah
:17:50. > :17:58.come are the Red Arrows again, over the top. The Tyne Bridge, one of
:17:58. > :18:02.the sights of the Great North Run. He's blowing quite heavily.
:18:02. > :18:12.Absolutely delighted to see Mickey Bushell here at South Shields. He
:18:12. > :18:18.will finish in 6th place. leading group, he looks like he's
:18:18. > :18:24.working really hard. He's managed to put his team-mates a little but
:18:24. > :18:30.clear. The world cross country champion, just pulling away now.
:18:30. > :18:34.Just a few yards ahead. There is Wilson Kipsang, the favourite. Many
:18:34. > :18:38.people thought he could have won the Olympic Games if he judged his
:18:38. > :18:43.pace a little better. He doesn't have to do anything special, just
:18:43. > :18:48.stay in contention with his team- mates. There are the first British
:18:48. > :18:53.athletes, Chris Thomson. Running strongly. He says he is getting in
:18:53. > :18:58.better shape. He was obviously disappointed with the Olympic Games.
:18:58. > :19:04.He is ahead of Birmingham, who ran against Mo Farah. He tested him for
:19:04. > :19:08.a lot of the way in the two mile race yesterday. There is a
:19:08. > :19:14.concentrated figure of Chris Thomson. Thankfully, back from his
:19:14. > :19:19.injury and on his way to running back again. A slight change in the
:19:19. > :19:28.women's race. The three champions from Africa, now being led by the
:19:28. > :19:32.World Marathon champion, Edna Kiplagat. Tiki Gelana, the Olympic
:19:32. > :19:41.marathon champion, alongside the world marathon champion. Where she
:19:41. > :19:44.has been off the time is a clever racer, Tirunesh Dibaba. That is
:19:44. > :19:49.obvious, you do not become four- times world champion unless you are
:19:49. > :19:54.a clever razor. She had the whole of 2011 away from injury. She
:19:54. > :19:58.wasn't even sure at the beginning of this year. Jo Pavey, fantastic
:19:58. > :20:05.year so far, just does what she does best. She is running on her
:20:05. > :20:10.own, working hard, she knows that there is a prize for her today. She
:20:10. > :20:14.knows she can go close to her personal best. This is strenuous
:20:14. > :20:24.distance running and the concentration that you need. It has
:20:24. > :20:33.
:20:33. > :20:41.been a privilege to watch her this opened up quickly. They must beat
:20:41. > :20:51.running quicker. That last mile of four point lead and was outstanding.
:20:51. > :20:59.
:20:59. > :21:04.not worried about the wind at the moment. How are we going to see the
:21:04. > :21:09.baby-faced destroyer, as you named hair, stretching out? She always
:21:09. > :21:16.goes from about four to 600 metres. She does not wait for the end.
:21:16. > :21:19.Tirunesh Dibaba, the great one, hits the front. Marathon runners
:21:19. > :21:27.around the world have to be careful. This looks like the transition from
:21:27. > :21:30.the track, to the road, is she going to be strong enough? Has she
:21:31. > :21:35.got the finish we have seen on the track over this distance? We will
:21:35. > :21:41.find out in seconds. Very early. I'm not sure if she would have got
:21:41. > :21:48.a sight when she came over the top. I think she went too early. You get
:21:48. > :21:52.that foreshortening as you look down ahead of you. Kiplagat realise
:21:52. > :22:02.that Tiki Gelana might have mistimed it. If she has strength,
:22:02. > :22:03.
:22:03. > :22:08.she has to push on. They will pass 400. D Barber is in familiar
:22:08. > :22:13.territory. Let's see what you have got. -- Tirunesh Dibaba. She's
:22:13. > :22:18.looking for the distance, she will be looking for the 400 metre mark.
:22:18. > :22:23.That was a temporary death judgment. Was it a major misjudgment? Look at
:22:23. > :22:33.the power, look at the style, the ability of Tirunesh Dibaba. She is
:22:33. > :22:33.
:22:33. > :22:37.a racer, overall. She keeps looking behind. The Olympic 10,000 champion,
:22:37. > :22:41.defending the title so brilliantly in London. Trying to win her first
:22:41. > :22:48.ever Great North Run. Her first ever half-marathon. She has not got
:22:48. > :22:52.it yet. Kiplagat looks behind. It is between these two. The crowd can
:22:52. > :22:56.seek that they are just a few hundred metres away. We can see
:22:56. > :23:01.them for the first time. Tirunesh Dibaba must be thinking, where is
:23:01. > :23:06.the finish line? Well, 400 metres on the track, she knows how to do
:23:06. > :23:11.that. Straight, it looks different. The first sign of weakness from
:23:11. > :23:20.Kiplagat. She looks over her shoulder. The great Tirunesh Dibaba
:23:20. > :23:24.is in her own territory. She now has the finish in sight. That is
:23:24. > :23:29.always a wonderful sight. In full flow, there is nobody better than
:23:29. > :23:34.Tirunesh Dibaba. A diminutive figure, but possesses such speed,
:23:34. > :23:39.such strength, such endurance. An amazing competitive spirit. When
:23:39. > :23:45.she is fit, nobody can beat her. Perhaps the greatest distance
:23:45. > :23:52.runner, certainly on the track. Who knows what awaits her on their road
:23:52. > :23:56.are the future? -- honour the road in the future? On a half-marathon
:23:56. > :24:01.distance, she has shown that she has what it takes to get to the top
:24:01. > :24:07.of this event as well. Tirunesh Dibaba, the Olympic champion. She
:24:07. > :24:13.takes the title in the Olympic year, in the Great North Run. A superb
:24:13. > :24:23.victory from the Ethiopian. Edna Kiplagat takes second place, a new
:24:23. > :24:27.personal best. The Olympic marathon champion, coming through, also a
:24:27. > :24:37.personal best in third place. Three great athletes giving us a great

:24:43. > :24:50.her part. She will be delighted with that. Just inside, maybe by a
:24:50. > :24:57.second or two, a personal best. That goes all the way back to 2005.
:24:57. > :25:03.This is a great run from Jo Pavey a. Her personal best of 68 minutes and
:25:03. > :25:12.53 seconds. Can she get close to that? We are looking at the clock.
:25:12. > :25:16.Just over 69 minutes, just above her personal best. She has had a
:25:16. > :25:22.marvellous year, on the track, on the roads and, eventually, on
:25:22. > :25:32.behalf Marathon. Kipsang had his first real breakthrough in the
:25:32. > :25:32.
:25:32. > :25:37.Delhi million half-marathon. The year after that he ran 58 point 59.
:25:37. > :25:41.Is the 4th man ever to run under 59 minutes. Although that might have
:25:41. > :25:48.slipped by them, today, I don't know if they will have that
:25:48. > :25:52.scintillating last mile. I don't think that will happen. They have
:25:52. > :25:59.just lost the possibility of getting under 58 minutes. This
:25:59. > :26:04.hurts your legs, it is so fast. He is letting himself go, Micah Kogo
:26:04. > :26:07.is holding himself back. Suddenly, the gap has appeared. He has used
:26:07. > :26:11.the hill very well. I think that is something that is only going to
:26:11. > :26:16.build. Is that the move that makes the victory for the London Marathon
:26:16. > :26:19.winner? 12 miles completed. For the first time, he has a lead. We have
:26:19. > :26:24.seen him surrendered the lead on several occasions during the
:26:24. > :26:28.Olympic Games. Micah Kogo, he took it a little bit easier down the
:26:28. > :26:32.hill, he is closing again. The tactics of Wilson Kipsang, they do
:26:32. > :26:37.not know like they have worked at the first effort. Micah Kogo closes
:26:37. > :26:43.the gap and get right in behind Wilson Kipsang. So, what looked
:26:43. > :26:48.like a move that was destined to win the race looks like a move that
:26:48. > :26:57.has hired his legs. He's come down the hill, fresher than him. Togo
:26:57. > :27:06.goes better uphill. The other thing about Wilson Kipsang, his running
:27:06. > :27:12.ability is his strength. There is the Olympic torch. Fantastic. Still,
:27:12. > :27:16.Mo Farah, still happy to shake hands. Don't worry, you have nearly
:27:16. > :27:26.finished your season! It has been a joy to watch. Ellie Simmonds gives
:27:26. > :27:27.
:27:27. > :27:34.them and encouraging word. Now the ordinary people can set off and do
:27:34. > :27:38.extraordinary things. Micah Kogo glances over his shoulder. We still
:27:38. > :27:41.have a race here. It's going to be fast in the last part of the race.
:27:41. > :27:49.It's going to end up a slightly quicker time than it looked like at
:27:49. > :27:54.the halfway point. Two Kenyans battling it out for victory. They
:27:54. > :27:59.can sense the finish, the crowds building either side of them. A
:27:59. > :28:05.good view all of the way down. But this race is not over yet. Togo is
:28:05. > :28:08.still trying to force the issue. Kipsang is trying to hold on,
:28:08. > :28:15.trying to see if he can stay close enough and find something for the
:28:15. > :28:21.last 200 metres. There are only two or three metres between the two of
:28:21. > :28:28.them. No more than that. Micah Kogo is not renowned for his sprint
:28:28. > :28:32.finish, I'm not sure if Kipsang is either. They always talk about that
:28:32. > :28:37.little elastic band keeping you close, keeping you in touch.
:28:37. > :28:44.elastic band has not snapped yet. Micah Kogo has not got quite enough.
:28:44. > :28:47.Who is it going today? Who is the fastest sprinter? You want to see
:28:47. > :28:57.Kipsang would alongside him. That is going to be the move. Has he got
:28:57. > :28:58.
:28:58. > :29:02.anything left? Can he catch Micah Kogo? Can he spend? -- Sprint.
:29:02. > :29:11.Wilson Kipsang is racing in. They are now coming down for a really
:29:11. > :29:15.fast sprint finish. Micah Kogo takes another look behind him.
:29:16. > :29:21.Kipsang looks like he is broken here, can he raised a little bit
:29:21. > :29:29.extra? It's going to be Micah Kogo, 100 metres to go. Here comes
:29:29. > :29:33.Kipsang again! Has he got enough? Kipsang is coming again! It's going
:29:33. > :29:39.to be Kipsang that takes it, right on the line. What a finish from
:29:39. > :29:49.those two! One of the best sprint finishers we have ever seen at the
:29:49. > :29:55.
:29:55. > :30:05.Great North Run. It was Kipsang, he is going to run a big personal best
:30:05. > :30:30.
:30:30. > :30:37.Talk us through that finish? think the finish was quite
:30:37. > :30:43.fantastic, because I saw that he had spirit and I decided to spend.
:30:43. > :30:50.It looked as though you were beaten. Wedded to find the extra energy?
:30:50. > :30:56.Probably it was the last part. I tried to believe in myself and
:30:56. > :31:04.sometimes I can spend. For me come a winning this phase was very good
:31:04. > :31:08.for me. 61, flat, I saw it and I was chasing the clock. I had -- I
:31:08. > :31:13.broke the fastest athlete over ten kilometres this year. He was
:31:13. > :31:21.getting worried, I'm coming for you. Unfortunately I could not quite dip
:31:21. > :31:27.under but I am over the mood. I have run two, ten Ks faster than
:31:27. > :31:32.the Olympics. But we have done great work this winter. I knew I
:31:32. > :31:36.was in great shape. It has proved to myself and the group around me
:31:36. > :31:40.that I was ready to do something good but again, timing, six weeks
:31:40. > :31:50.on, but I am on a break now. Go back to the or training and

:32:06. > :32:15.hopefully come back next year and A personal best for Gemma Steel,

:32:35. > :32:41.me. It is my first time in the Great North Run and I enjoyed it
:32:41. > :32:46.but at the last moment there was the rain. But I can do it -- I
:32:46. > :32:49.cannot do anything about that. It was a very good race. Jo Pavey, so
:32:49. > :32:53.close to your personal best. You must be pleased with the re-run
:32:53. > :32:59.today? I was fairly pleased. I wish I could have stayed with the top
