:00:48. > :00:53.The National Indoor Arena, home to the Birmingham Grand Prix. 14 world

:00:53. > :00:57.records had been set through the years and 25 British records, a

:00:58. > :01:01.last was more far-out over 5000 metres 12 months ago. And with

:01:01. > :01:06.statistics like that, it is an imposing venue which will be packed

:01:06. > :01:15.very shortly. It isn't hard to see why many believe this is the best

:01:15. > :01:25.one-day meeting anywhere in the world. Jackson is running away from

:01:25. > :01:36.

:01:36. > :01:43.equals the British record. Can he hold it together? Yes, he has done

:01:43. > :01:49.it. That is a new world record. This will be a superb performance

:01:49. > :01:59.from Mo Farah, the new British record. And that is a new world

:01:59. > :02:02.

:02:02. > :02:11.record. Coming to the line. He has smashed the record! He is flying!

:02:11. > :02:16.Kelly Holmes, coming into the home straight. And she wins again.

:02:16. > :02:19.Welcome to the National Indoor Arena. This is a magnet for the

:02:19. > :02:23.world's greatest athletes and we have seen some surely remarkable

:02:23. > :02:27.performances through the years. No reason to think that this year will

:02:27. > :02:31.be different. With the reputation that this has, there is a full

:02:31. > :02:37.house expected and I am sure the message from the crowd will be more

:02:37. > :02:47.of the same, please. I very much doubt that anybody will leave

:02:47. > :02:49.

:02:49. > :02:59.disappointed. It will be gold for Great Britain! That is a new world

:02:59. > :03:00.

:03:00. > :03:10.record. He has done it. The gold medal. We have another world

:03:10. > :03:15.

:03:15. > :03:22.champion. Gold! Taking silver for Britain... Britain's 4th medal.

:03:22. > :03:26.will not want to miss anything, the first final is at 1:30pm, Jessica

:03:26. > :03:32.Ennis in the 60-metre hurdles and then the women's 800 metres.

:03:32. > :03:37.Marilyn Okoro going for the qualifying time. We can pick and

:03:38. > :03:44.some difference... At the women's 3000 metres should be good. That

:03:44. > :03:49.features the world record holder against Helen Clitheroe. Some very

:03:49. > :03:54.good 1500 metres. Bernard Lagat, and then Hannah England in the

:03:54. > :04:01.women's 1500 metres. The final two events, the way and # Men's 60

:04:01. > :04:08.metres at 4pm. And then the two miles. Good at turning to Denise

:04:08. > :04:12.Lewis and Colin Jackson. Colin, it is your birthday. -- good afternoon.

:04:12. > :04:18.We will focus on the women's pole vault. There have been world

:04:18. > :04:22.records through the years. Both Russian. The next world record

:04:22. > :04:26.holder could very possibly be British. Holly Bleasdale has made

:04:26. > :04:31.an extraordinary start to her year. The new British record of four

:04:31. > :04:36.metres and 87. That is the 4th highest pole vault of all time. The

:04:36. > :04:41.last time she jumped was in the under 20 competition and she

:04:41. > :04:51.finished third with just three metres and 60. This afternoon, she

:04:51. > :05:20.

:05:20. > :05:27.is coming in at 4.52. She has been changed? We wanted to qualify for

:05:27. > :05:32.the finals and see what happened on the day. My goal is to this end but

:05:32. > :05:37.I have expectations and the new battle ahead of me, jumping at 87.

:05:37. > :05:41.It isn't just going to be about making the final. I want to jump

:05:41. > :05:47.over 70. That will be enough for the medal, usually. And definitely

:05:47. > :05:52.top six. How important is it that your main rivals know this?

:05:52. > :05:59.Obviously, there was not great last year, people did not know me. I was

:05:59. > :06:03.normally jumping around 50 but now it I will jump 87. The others will

:06:03. > :06:08.know what I have done because Jenifer went 88. It is obviously

:06:08. > :06:15.that she knows how high I have jumped and it is good that they are

:06:15. > :06:21.aware of me. Now there is a full appreciation of just how good you

:06:21. > :06:25.are? People are focusing more? is really good, and doing so well

:06:25. > :06:30.and people are more interested and I am in the media. That is helping

:06:30. > :06:35.rebuild my profile. People are getting behind May and their

:06:35. > :06:45.spurring me on. I can go to a competition and people know to

:06:45. > :06:49.

:06:49. > :06:53.applaud. It is high pressure. Pressure is just another word. Some

:06:53. > :06:58.people normally crumble under the pressure but like in Daegu, I did

:06:58. > :07:04.not crumble. In France, everybody was cheering. People would think

:07:04. > :07:08.that you could crumble but I took it and it makes me compete better.

:07:08. > :07:13.I am looking forward to Birmingham and the London Olympics because

:07:13. > :07:16.everybody will be cheering the British and that is why I am so

:07:16. > :07:22.excited and hopefully that will pick me up and make me compete at

:07:22. > :07:26.100%. Denise, Holly says the pressure is just a word. She would

:07:26. > :07:31.just find out over the next three months about that. There is a lot

:07:31. > :07:38.of expectation? There is. And rightly so because she has proven

:07:38. > :07:45.herself. Jumping BD7 it is very big but we need consistency. She

:07:45. > :07:49.announced herself to some of the leading pole vaulters and last year

:07:49. > :07:54.in Daegu, she was very disappointed. Athletics is about experience, good

:07:54. > :08:00.or bad. And that will make her a great athlete in the future. So

:08:00. > :08:05.much potential. And she jumped at 4.87 on the junior event and she

:08:05. > :08:12.has now gone on to the stiffer pole. That will take some while to get

:08:12. > :08:16.used to? You have to get used to it. And it is the density, it is harder

:08:16. > :08:20.to bend so she will have to get used to that but she is big and

:08:20. > :08:26.strong and that is what she knows and she will prove an get those

:08:26. > :08:33.heights by challenging. It is a good thing that she has invested

:08:33. > :08:37.her time and to this. Holly jumping 4.52. In about one hour's time. And

:08:37. > :08:43.before that, we will see Jessica Ennis in the 60 metres, she has

:08:43. > :08:49.been enlightening form? She has, it was a great start to the season.

:08:49. > :08:54.She is wanted just to get it out of her system and she has put together

:08:54. > :08:59.some solid performances, particularly getting back up to

:08:59. > :09:04.jumping at 1.91. That is a real bank for her. Her high jump, the

:09:04. > :09:08.hurdles, we expect strong performances. And she has to face a

:09:08. > :09:14.lot of pressure in these championships. And a number of

:09:14. > :09:18.Russians are performing well and also the Olympic champion? Yes, it

:09:18. > :09:24.is when she pulls in those performances from the bag, we

:09:24. > :09:31.cannot discredit her, the Olympic champion and she recently scored

:09:31. > :09:36.well in the championships. You cannot underestimate her. She is in

:09:36. > :09:43.form. Anything can happen. But I still think that Istanbul and

:09:43. > :09:51.Jessica Ennis, those performances are her strengths. More thorough in

:09:51. > :09:54.the two miles. Here, it could be exactly the same, raising the roof.

:09:54. > :10:00.I caught up afterwards and he said that his lungs were burning

:10:01. > :10:05.afterwards. He needed to use more speed. But I think he will look

:10:05. > :10:10.forward to going to that and having a good go a two miles. There is a

:10:10. > :10:15.British record that he is capable of taking. And adding that to his

:10:15. > :10:19.repertoire. He is a quality athlete and the crowd will be cheering him

:10:19. > :10:25.all the way around. It will be brilliant. He was tarred with the

:10:25. > :10:31.live event coverage, the women's 60 metres. The world champion goes in

:10:31. > :10:41.the first one. Paul Dickenson and Brendan Foster up there and also

:10:41. > :10:45.

:10:45. > :10:51.it. It is a sell-out crowd. It promises to be a great afternoon.

:10:51. > :11:01.The women's 60 metres. Certainly want to look out for. Tianna

:11:01. > :11:33.

:11:33. > :11:43.that second spot she was there in Sheffield. Bianca Knight, has been

:11:43. > :11:50.

:11:50. > :11:55.in good form. S5 macro. -- Bianca Knight. 7.19 this year. Tianna

:11:55. > :12:03.Madison, everybody has been talking about the former world champion.

:12:03. > :12:13.She has come back to Supreme form this year. She only ran 7.18, her

:12:13. > :12:20.

:12:20. > :12:29.previous best two years ago. And another new name, Lakya Brookins.

:12:29. > :12:34.And what a great opportunity for Asha Philip. So many injuries since

:12:34. > :12:44.she burst onto the scene but looking good. Other she was

:12:44. > :12:47.

:12:47. > :12:50.disqualified in the semi-finals. Ezinne Okparebo. From Norway.

:12:50. > :13:00.Turned on the outside, Katerina Cechova. The first three will go

:13:00. > :13:02.

:13:02. > :13:10.through. And the final is at about 2:40pm. The subtext is Laura Turner

:13:10. > :13:17.against Asha Philip. And in the middle, two or three of the world's

:13:17. > :13:23.fastest, including Tianna Madison. Maddison, from Florida, 26 years

:13:23. > :13:33.old. She has never really rediscover that form in the long

:13:33. > :13:41.jump. -- rediscovered. This form she showing indoors is a bit of a

:13:41. > :13:48.surprise. Miners and it's a pretty good start. Also Lakya Brookins.

:13:48. > :13:57.But has not come through and she wins. The top three will go through.

:13:57. > :14:02.That was pretty quick. She looks very calm, doesn't she? When you

:14:02. > :14:05.water, it is all very smooth, Tianna Madison. If she continues

:14:06. > :14:11.this form into the summer, she will have a very big year. Someone we

:14:11. > :14:21.would not really have put into the reckoning. You try to sort out the

:14:21. > :14:22.

:14:22. > :14:25.result and look at Asha Philip. Interesting position. Denise?

:14:25. > :14:31.Incredible, I have been looking forward to seeing Tianna Madison.

:14:31. > :14:36.We have heard a lot about her, she had a good start. Very, very fluid

:14:36. > :14:44.athlete. Very composed. She comes through and all she has to do is

:14:44. > :14:50.Crewe's right through to that line. -- cruise. I was looking at Asha

:14:50. > :14:54.Philip. That is a great return to form. Not a bad start. Perhaps

:14:54. > :15:00.feeling the pressure in this field. She lacks experience, she has had a

:15:00. > :15:04.serious injury. But she has been a lovely runner. We talk about young

:15:04. > :15:10.athletes that have come through, she was one that started with huge

:15:10. > :15:17.potential. But that nasty injury to her knee. She tore her ligaments.

:15:17. > :15:27.That means she is behind. But she ran very well. That is a new

:15:27. > :15:31.

:15:31. > :15:36.I said there was a subtext there, the three that went through. Two

:15:36. > :15:42.fastest loser spots and Phillips will cross her fingers, better than

:15:42. > :15:52.that she will think she may well have consolidated her place away of

:15:52. > :15:56.

:15:56. > :16:06.Laura Turner. Maddison our winner, Hopefully the Jaime for Janet

:16:06. > :16:10.

:16:10. > :16:15.Kwakye in the second heat. Phil Jones caught up with Jenny Meadow.

:16:15. > :16:20.Jenny Meadows our start 800 metre runner but not competing today.

:16:20. > :16:26.It's definitely not a position I wanted to be in, I wanted to be

:16:26. > :16:34.here in my tracksuit. I had an injury, it's persisted for a few

:16:34. > :16:38.weeks. I have had to pull out of the meet here. I am an unhappy

:16:38. > :16:40.spectator but looking forward to seeing the event, especially what

:16:41. > :16:46.the British athletes have to deliver today. Does that mean you

:16:46. > :16:50.have to forego the World Champion shfps. I have been putting that

:16:50. > :16:54.decision off. I am still running a lot, I am not able to get into

:16:54. > :16:58.spikes. I am really fit and strong and I can do more or less all the

:16:58. > :17:04.training but only in trainers. Yeah, every week I have been having to

:17:04. > :17:06.pull out of one competition, really pinning my hopes on the next week

:17:06. > :17:10.but I took the decision now. Unfortunately, I won't be able to

:17:10. > :17:13.do the World Championships in Istanbul. It was something I was

:17:13. > :17:18.looking forward to because training this winter has gone incredibly

:17:18. > :17:22.well, but unfortunately I will have to be a spectator at that as well.

:17:22. > :17:25.Dare we say there is a bigger picture, London is what it's all

:17:26. > :17:31.about. You want to be in the perfect shape for that, it sounds

:17:31. > :17:35.like you are heading to that? an athlete, when you are fit and

:17:35. > :17:39.healthy you want to compete and it's always a mental challenge to

:17:39. > :17:42.do that. I love the indoor season. I feel I own some of the tracks,

:17:42. > :17:45.Glasgow every year I enjoy doing that and competing here in

:17:45. > :17:50.Birmingham, but everyone keeps saying there is a bigger picture.

:17:50. > :17:53.If you can choose, obviously you are going to choose London. That's

:17:53. > :17:55.what I have to remember. I am really fit and strong and all my

:17:55. > :18:00.training does indicate that. I have not actually had to stop training

:18:00. > :18:04.with the injury, it's just I am not able to actually wear spikes and

:18:04. > :18:08.run at race pace in competitive races. All the signs are there,

:18:08. > :18:14.they're all good and hopefully I will not be a spectator for the

:18:14. > :18:18.rest of the season. One final word on what it's like being down here

:18:19. > :18:22.as a non-competing athlete, you see see nerves and tension and some

:18:22. > :18:25.people relaxed? Exactly, I know how everyone is feeling definitely. I

:18:25. > :18:29.always think when you watch on television you just see the

:18:29. > :18:33.athletes racing and you don't get to see what goes on before and you

:18:33. > :18:37.are right, everyone's personalities are different. Some people are

:18:37. > :18:41.chilled out and very confident. Some people are quite shaky and

:18:41. > :18:45.look nervous. Obviously adrenalin's kicking in. But it is interesting

:18:45. > :18:49.to see how people cope with different reactions to that. But on

:18:49. > :18:53.the track they all come and give their best performance, no matter

:18:53. > :18:56.how they're feeling. Yeah, it's funny watching as a spectator, but

:18:56. > :18:59.I am sure a lot of them now are ready to compete and I am sure it's

:18:59. > :19:02.going to be a great day of athletics. Let's hope so. Good luck

:19:02. > :19:12.with the recovery, thank you for talking to us.

:19:12. > :19:12.

:19:12. > :19:15.Good luck indeed. Nice coat Jenny has got on I thought! Next up

:19:15. > :19:19.Jeanette Kwakye. She seems to get it right in Olympic form. I am

:19:19. > :19:23.hoping she can avoid all injuries. She's had a great return to form.

:19:23. > :19:26.This race is a tough qualification for her. She doesn't go in here as

:19:26. > :19:30.the fastest, I am looking forward to seeing her getting through this

:19:30. > :19:34.safely and perhaps get a season's best, which may be needed. Paul,

:19:34. > :19:38.it's all yours. Thank you very much indeed,

:19:38. > :19:42.Jonathan. Colin took the words out of my

:19:42. > :19:52.mouth there, she's surrounded by classy athletes, three of them have

:19:52. > :19:53.

:19:53. > :20:35.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 42 seconds

:20:35. > :20:38.run faster than Jeanette this year. she has run already this year.

:20:38. > :20:43.Barbara Pierre has dual citizenship with Haiti.

:20:43. > :20:47.She used to run for that country until 2010 and reverted back to the

:20:47. > :20:57.United States. One of the fastest women in Europe,

:20:57. > :21:03.Aoeu vet Lalova. She's run a swift 7.16 this year.

:21:03. > :21:10.And Jeanette Kwakye looking for a season's best. She wants to bring

:21:10. > :21:18.the time down. The former world indoor medallist at 60M.

:21:18. > :21:28.One of the best women in the world, Aleen Bailey of Jamaica. She runs

:21:28. > :21:29.

:21:29. > :21:37.in relays, 200 M or 60M. Candyce McGrone of the United

:21:37. > :21:43.States, useful at this distance. And Sooriyaarachchi, former Welsh

:21:43. > :21:52.indoor champion, now based in Slovakia.

:21:52. > :21:58.7.39 she has run this year. It's a real test for Jeanette

:21:58. > :22:01.Kwakye, when she ran in Glasgow, she got a blistering start. A real

:22:01. > :22:05.solo effort. You get the feeling she's going to have to repeat that

:22:05. > :22:13.sort of performance, even to make it through to the final. The first

:22:13. > :22:23.three will go through automatically, plus two fastest losers. Kwakye is

:22:23. > :22:30.

:22:30. > :22:36.well. So too is Williams. Lalova gets it just on the line from

:22:36. > :22:43.Williams in two. Jean set going to have to wait and see.

:22:43. > :22:46.7.23 by Lalova means that Asha Philip will qualify as a fastest

:22:46. > :22:50.loser, that's what she ran in the fast heat. So this heat slower than

:22:50. > :22:53.heat one. Well, we will have to wait and see

:22:53. > :23:00.whether Jeanette makes it through. What do you think of the winner,

:23:00. > :23:06.Denise? Well, Lalova, we expect her to be bullet-like out of the blocks

:23:06. > :23:12.but not a brilliant start by her. Williams seemed to get the measure

:23:12. > :23:19.of her, but again Lalova relaxed in her form, eases through the field.

:23:19. > :23:23.And takes the veer. -- victory. think Jeanette will be very, very

:23:23. > :23:28.disappointed with that run. She didn't have the best start. She ran

:23:28. > :23:34.very well in Glasgow, great from the first foot, but just got - let

:23:34. > :23:38.the girls get away from her there. Here we see here out of the blocks,

:23:38. > :23:42.really driving hard but the girls are already a metre away head of

:23:42. > :23:46.her and possibly a little bit too much tension in Jeanette's

:23:46. > :23:53.shoulders there. She's not as relaxed as we are used to seeing

:23:53. > :23:56.her run. That showed in her performance.

:23:56. > :24:00.Jeanette is looking over the big screen there and seeing that replay.

:24:00. > :24:06.What did you think? It wasn't a great run at all, if I am honest. I

:24:06. > :24:10.probably still suffering from last week and I knew I would come here

:24:10. > :24:13.and have to take what I get and probably have to go back to

:24:13. > :24:17.training and get ready for the Worlds. The overall picture for you

:24:17. > :24:22.right now, are you pleased with the way it's heading towards that?

:24:22. > :24:24.I am. In terms of how I am heading towards it and I knew with the

:24:24. > :24:29.training at the moment it was always going to be touch and go

:24:29. > :24:33.with this knee. We will see how we go. Got a few weeks of training to

:24:33. > :24:37.get ready, should be fine. The key is to get below your best this

:24:37. > :24:45.season, down in the mix for the Worlds? I need to get back into

:24:45. > :24:48.good PB shape. All the best, thank you.

:24:48. > :24:52.Well, a big disappointment from Jeanette there. We didn't expect

:24:52. > :24:57.that I have to say. No, we didn't. But you can never gauge. Indoors is

:24:57. > :25:01.always an interesting one for the athletes, because the focus has to

:25:01. > :25:04.be about the the Olympics and she wants to go to Istanbul, but you

:25:04. > :25:08.have to train hard. You can't afford to let the training and the

:25:08. > :25:14.real solid training that you need to carry over to make sure you make

:25:14. > :25:18.that transition into the outdoor season. So, I think she will

:25:18. > :25:21.recover. She needs to do more speed work. She looked heavy and rusty

:25:21. > :25:26.for me. Nonetheless, still worrying for an athlete to suddenly lose

:25:26. > :25:29.form quite so dramatically. Like you said, to lose form dramatically.

:25:29. > :25:32.The reality is Jean set a great athlete and you can't lose form

:25:32. > :25:37.overnight. Sometimes things don't click. She didn't have the best

:25:37. > :25:45.start at all. The reaction was pretty poor itself. If you look at

:25:45. > :25:49.the women around her, Lalova who didn't have a great start was still

:25:49. > :25:53.ahead. She was under pressure right from the get-go and it was

:25:53. > :25:57.difficult for her to claw her way back through. If I was her I would

:25:57. > :26:01.say no panic, no worries at this moment, you still have loads of

:26:01. > :26:08.time to get things right for Istanbul. We know she is a quality

:26:08. > :26:12.athlete. She has run 7.20. So, if I was Jeanette I would say OK, I had

:26:12. > :26:15.a bad race today, everybody will have a bad performance and let's

:26:15. > :26:20.see what happens in Istanbul. Because everybody will forget

:26:20. > :26:25.Birmingham if she does well in Istanbul. The key is not to panic.

:26:25. > :26:30.Jeanette, I am sure she's wintered well. She has zip in her legs, just

:26:30. > :26:40.not today. She will be fine, I am sure. Let's hope so. Next up it's

:26:40. > :26:50.

:26:50. > :26:58.Jessica Ennis heading for home. Nobody else can live with the pace

:26:58. > :27:05.of Jessica Ennis. Heading for gold! She just keeps going from strength

:27:05. > :27:10.to strength. Let's make no mistake here, Denise,

:27:10. > :27:20.Jessica is world-class at the hurdles. She is and this is every

:27:20. > :27:22.

:27:22. > :27:27.hurdler's nightmare, where an help help - decides to take them on. She

:27:27. > :27:32.great shape. In terms of lists equal fourth with Danielle

:27:32. > :27:38.Carruthers down here. Danielle will not like that at all. We know

:27:38. > :27:44.Jessica is sa great 60M hurdler, she will start really well. She is

:27:44. > :27:49.confident, her performances show that. She will need a good run.

:27:49. > :27:55.Danielle Carruthers will not want to lose to Jessica Ennis.

:27:55. > :27:59.Absolutely. It's a nightmare. I used to love love stepping in and

:27:59. > :28:03.doing 60m to upset some of the sprinters. It's part of her

:28:03. > :28:13.preparation. It's great she can run well and competitively against the

:28:13. > :28:14.

:28:14. > :28:20.best when she's only a heptathle. Steve Cram is calling this one.

:28:20. > :28:30.Thank you, Jonathan. Just to clear up the result from the women's 60,

:28:30. > :28:40.

:28:40. > :28:44.Jeanette in her third outing of the winter 7.33 down in 7th place, so

:28:44. > :28:54.there we have the finalists in order, not in lane order but the

:28:54. > :29:03.

:29:03. > :29:09.Now the women's 60 hurdles final. Intriguing race between the

:29:09. > :29:14.specialists Danielle Carruthers, who had a superb year last year,

:29:14. > :29:18.and Jessica Ennis, who obviously wants this event to go well, not

:29:18. > :29:28.only here but through the rest of the year, indoors and outdoors.

:29:28. > :29:47.

:29:47. > :29:53.It's one of the key events. fast this year. Angela Whyte has

:29:53. > :30:01.run faster in the past. Loreal Smith. She set a personal best this

:30:01. > :30:07.year. She was disqualified in her last meeting in France last weekend.

:30:07. > :30:17.Last weekend, Jessica Ennis had a very successful UK trials. And it

:30:17. > :30:17.

:30:17. > :30:27.very good shot put. She was pleased with that. Great reception from the

:30:27. > :30:34.

:30:34. > :30:44.crowd. Danielle Carruthers, what a very good year she has had. M5

:30:44. > :30:46.

:30:46. > :30:51.macro. -- Nikkita Holder. A new personal best. Phylicia George.

:30:51. > :30:56.Another good season last year. She made the final in Daegu. She did

:30:57. > :31:04.not done particularly well in the final. Lucie Skrobakova. From the

:31:04. > :31:09.Czech Republic. 30 years of age. She has a record holder. And on the

:31:09. > :31:19.outside, Gemma Bennett. She finished second to Jessica Ennis

:31:19. > :31:24.

:31:24. > :31:32.last weekend. Can Jessica Ennis poach this event? And watch

:31:32. > :31:37.Carruthers. She let's out a little scream as she goes over every

:31:37. > :31:43.hurdle. Danielle Carruthers wants to build on what was a good year

:31:43. > :31:53.for her last year. Jessica Ennis, it is so important that she runs

:31:53. > :32:02.

:32:02. > :32:09.well over the hurdles. Jessica start. Jessica Ennis and Danielle

:32:10. > :32:14.Carruthers! Victory! What a performance from Jessica Ennis!

:32:14. > :32:19.That is a big personal best. Only Tiffany Porter, the American, has

:32:19. > :32:23.ever run faster indoors. That is the quickest in the world this year.

:32:24. > :32:29.And that is a very good job forward. If anything, Danielle Carruthers

:32:29. > :32:33.had a better start but only for the first three or four strides because

:32:33. > :32:37.after that it was all about Jessica Ennis. Carruthers did come back and

:32:37. > :32:45.she will be pleased with their time but not at having come second to

:32:45. > :32:49.Jessica Ennis and even Jessica cannot believe this. She is stunned.

:32:49. > :32:52.That is a brilliant event and there might be something in her head

:32:52. > :33:01.saying, I wish I could do this event in the world indoor

:33:01. > :33:07.championships. Denise? Jessica NS! What majestic hurdling. Her

:33:07. > :33:15.composure. I am just amazed, we used to seeing her one good times

:33:15. > :33:18.but she has been stuck on a 7.95 for so long. So coming out here to

:33:18. > :33:24.set the new personal best, that is just the start that she needs for

:33:24. > :33:31.Istanbul. Beautiful technique, keeping her rhythm going and no

:33:31. > :33:36.pressure. You can see Danielle Carruthers. Aggressive. She is

:33:36. > :33:45.usually screaming. She makes so much noise. In contrast, Jessica

:33:45. > :33:55.Ennis, smooth and fluid and just a power house. Textbook curdling.

:33:55. > :33:55.

:33:55. > :34:03.Right there. And her reaction really says it all. 7.87. That is a

:34:03. > :34:09.new personal best for Jessica Ennis, well done. Here is a woman of the

:34:09. > :34:12.moment. What a fantastic performance. Reaction? I am

:34:13. > :34:16.literally in shock. I knew the training was going well and I have

:34:16. > :34:21.been working on my start but to run that time in Birmingham is

:34:21. > :34:26.brilliant. Danielle Carruthers on the outside, she is a specialist,

:34:26. > :34:29.so that was going to push you. Did you feel that? It was great to come

:34:29. > :34:36.here because they knew it was going to be a very strong field and to

:34:36. > :34:42.run against Danielle Carruthers pushed me. Coming here, can you

:34:42. > :34:48.ever imagine doing this? World- leading? It is incredible, to come

:34:48. > :34:57.here and run 7.94, personal best, I would have been over the moon. It

:34:57. > :35:07.is incredible. I am speechless! will talk later. Good luck with the

:35:07. > :35:11.

:35:11. > :35:14.but nonetheless, still the world's quickest this year and that is a

:35:14. > :35:22.season best for Danielle Carruthers. She would normally be happy but not

:35:22. > :35:32.at coming second. Phylicia George just stick 10 for third place. --

:35:32. > :35:34.

:35:34. > :35:39.Estate in. -- sneaked in. That is an exceptional time. From that very

:35:39. > :35:44.young age, I have been saying to Jessica Ennis, come to the hurdles.

:35:44. > :35:49.Belief in yourself. And you can see why, she is tremendous. Excellent

:35:49. > :35:53.technically, very good under pressure and she has that flawless

:35:53. > :35:58.technique, what happens with Jessica is when pressure comes, she

:35:58. > :36:03.does not falter, she keeps her focus. Her leg comes right in front

:36:03. > :36:08.and bang, or she goes. She drives towards that line. That is what

:36:08. > :36:12.makes the difference and that shows someone who is a very natural

:36:12. > :36:19.hurdler, no concerns about anything else, we know how fast and

:36:19. > :36:23.explosive she is. She demonstrates that very well in the high jump.

:36:23. > :36:29.Look at that in the coming cleanly in front, she puts herself into the

:36:29. > :36:33.straight line. Any young hurdler should really watch that and say,

:36:33. > :36:39.that is what I want to do. isn't fazed by having the world

:36:39. > :36:44.silver medallist next to her? bodes well. She welcome under

:36:44. > :36:50.pressure this year. But what we have seen from Jessica N S so far

:36:50. > :36:56.is that she thrives on pressure. She enjoys it. And that performance

:36:56. > :37:03.was really incredible. -- Jessica Ennis. The long jump will be a very

:37:03. > :37:08.key event? Absolutely, she had To debut but it was inconsistent. She

:37:08. > :37:14.has not found the form that I would like to see. That consistent long

:37:14. > :37:19.jumping, she is erratic. That is a very important event. With those

:37:19. > :37:23.hurdles, that will take her down to the 12.7 mark and when you talk

:37:24. > :37:32.about him tablets at the beginning, she has found a massive cushion. --

:37:32. > :37:37.heptathlete. Next up, one of the world's greatest sprinters. Not

:37:37. > :37:45.quite the medal Cabinet to match. Not used to being seen indoors. It

:37:45. > :37:55.is Asafa Powell. Or what made you decide to compete? If it was up to

:37:55. > :37:59.

:37:59. > :38:02.me, I would not be here. My coach, my manager makes the decisions.

:38:02. > :38:11.thought at the end of a campaign would benefit you in the long term

:38:11. > :38:19.heading towards London? Well, yes. It is something new. -- and into a

:38:19. > :38:24.campaign. If something isn't wrong, do not fix it. We are trying to get

:38:24. > :38:33.the ball rolling early. Get everything going. Trying to be

:38:33. > :38:38.consistent. Trying to get the start perfect and get everything right.

:38:38. > :38:47.Last year and was having a great season. I was running very well. I

:38:47. > :38:53.was very confident. But then I got injured. But I was still training

:38:53. > :39:02.in the background. But running indoors, this is my second time in

:39:02. > :39:08.spikes. Since last September. It should be fun. We talk about the

:39:08. > :39:15.Jim Aiken clean sweep on the final line. How realistic is that? Most

:39:15. > :39:20.of the fastest men in the world, yes. And we are running very fast.

:39:20. > :39:27.The men are very confident. Hopefully we can have some breaks

:39:27. > :39:35.in the finals, if not one or two in the final. That would mean a lot

:39:35. > :39:40.for the British. The as ever, fairly relaxed, Asafa Powell. You

:39:40. > :39:50.get the feeling that if he isn't on top form in the summer, he might

:39:50. > :39:52.

:39:52. > :40:02.not get to represent. Asafa Powell will want to come out and a very

:40:02. > :40:02.

:40:02. > :40:06.good indoor season. He has had a good start already. The first three

:40:06. > :40:13.will go through to the final just after 4 o'clock. This is very

:40:13. > :40:23.competitive. The subtext of the put a selection, that comes into play.

:40:23. > :40:27.

:40:27. > :40:34.Harry Aikines-Aryeetey. Watch out for that. Liu Xiang. And the former

:40:34. > :40:43.world champion and the bronze medallist, Kim Collins. 35 years of

:40:43. > :40:47.age. Great to see him in the UK. And he helped his team to that's a

:40:47. > :40:56.prize relay medal last year in Daegu. Asafa Powell, he missed out

:40:56. > :40:59.through injury. He has run one indoor race in New York. He ran a

:40:59. > :41:09.personal best and has already run outdoors in a relay event in

:41:09. > :41:24.

:41:24. > :41:29.Jamaica. G e10 macro. -- Trell Kimmons. Daniel Bailey. And we talk

:41:29. > :41:39.about that St Kitts and Nevis relay team, led by Kim Collins. This man.

:41:39. > :41:42.

:41:42. > :41:52.He was on the third leg. And this is Greg Cackett from Belgrade

:41:52. > :41:55.

:41:55. > :42:03.Harriers. That was a big race from him. Nobody has run under 10

:42:03. > :42:10.seconds for 100 metres more than this man. The first 60-metre race

:42:10. > :42:20.for Asafa Powell. Just the heat. He wants to make sure that he

:42:20. > :42:23.

:42:23. > :42:33.qualifies in the top three. Collins is next to him. Then Trell Kimmons.

:42:33. > :42:47.

:42:47. > :42:51.Absolutely silent at the indoor He has been in reasonable form this

:42:51. > :43:01.year. We saw him in Glasgow, finishing third in the

:43:01. > :43:19.

:43:19. > :43:29.international match. That was a below one 10th of the second is

:43:29. > :43:42.

:43:42. > :43:51.is off. So, Christian Blum will have to sit and watch this one.

:43:51. > :44:01.Asafa Powell there were looks stressed. -- never looks. Never any

:44:01. > :44:19.

:44:19. > :44:26.start from Asafa Powell. Collins has done well but here comes Asafa

:44:26. > :44:32.Powell storming through to qualify. Asafa Powell, Kim Collins and Trell

:44:32. > :44:38.Kimmons. Let's look at the clock. If you suggested it is, the initial

:44:38. > :44:45.time that came up was 7.85 and that was rounded up. That would

:44:45. > :44:49.represent a personal best if it was confirmed. When the results come up.

:44:49. > :44:54.We were just wait for confirmation. That was a quick run from Asafa

:44:55. > :44:59.Powell and that would put him at the top of the world list. We saw

:44:59. > :45:03.that whatever the time will be, it'll be a personal best. Not the

:45:03. > :45:07.best start from Asafa Powell, we usually see him being more

:45:07. > :45:12.explosive out of the blocks but he is very beautifully fluid. So early

:45:12. > :45:16.in the season and he is looking like a very good contender for a

:45:16. > :45:20.medal at the Olympic Games later this year. He does not really love

:45:20. > :45:24.indoors. Which I really think is quite unusual because he has a

:45:24. > :45:34.powerful start but he is looking good and everybody will be waiting

:45:34. > :45:48.

:45:48. > :45:56.to see what the official time will competition. JJ Jegede. That's

:45:56. > :46:03.impressive. That's exactly what he produced last week in Sheffield.

:46:03. > :46:12.Seven metres 96. That appears to be a similar type of distance. And

:46:12. > :46:22.should well give him the lead. Plenty of room to give away on the

:46:22. > :46:29.board. The leading mark at the moment 7.77.

:46:29. > :46:34.This jump from Jegede should challenge it. He takes the lead.

:46:34. > :46:44.There is Holly Bleasdale, preparing to enter the women's pole vault

:46:44. > :46:44.

:46:44. > :46:47.competition. She will open at 4.52. Still yet to enter the competition.

:46:47. > :46:57.So, Holly Bleasdale very much the athlete of the moment in the

:46:57. > :47:03.women's pole vault, but Lucie Bryan, perhaps a name for the future. Got

:47:03. > :47:08.a lifetime best of 4.11. Sensational clearance from this 16-

:47:08. > :47:15.year-old. She will take huge confidence from that, a lifetime

:47:15. > :47:20.best, Lucy Bryan, definitely a name for the future.

:47:20. > :47:30.That's a bit of a breakthrough, not just in terms of height, but also

:47:30. > :47:36.

:47:36. > :47:46.against this quality of opposition. Back to the men's long jump.

:47:46. > :47:47.

:47:47. > :47:54.Godfrey Mokoena. Seven metres 86 by the UK champion JJ Jegede, but

:47:54. > :47:58.Mokoena with that premen douse height character -- tre men --

:47:58. > :48:02.tremendous height. Plenty to spare on the board for the South African

:48:02. > :48:11.record holder. He really is a magnificent sight

:48:12. > :48:21.when he is in full flow. Again he will be out towards the 8m mark

:48:22. > :48:41.

:48:41. > :48:45.with his effort. Should be well a little slower at 6.50 but a a

:48:45. > :48:53.personal best. A price that's a personal best for Powell tpwu

:48:53. > :49:01.equals the fastest in the world this year and Collins in second and

:49:01. > :49:09.Kimmons, the three qualifiers. JJ Jegede psyching himself up for

:49:09. > :49:13.this round two effort. Sound his round one mark bettered by Godfrey

:49:13. > :49:17.Mokoena. How will this young athlete respond to the gauntlet

:49:18. > :49:23.that's been thrown down by the South African? 26 years old now.

:49:23. > :49:29.Has a full winter of training behind him for the first time ever.

:49:29. > :49:34.He's gone beyond the eight metre mark! Will we get the white flag?

:49:34. > :49:41.He likes that. He has entered brand new territory indoors, beyond eight

:49:41. > :49:46.metres for the first time. We will await confirmation, and if it is

:49:46. > :49:52.confirmed then that will be the leading mark for him. Still a fair

:49:52. > :49:56.amount to spare on the board. Even though he is the UK champion, he's

:49:56. > :50:03.-- his place not yet confirmed for the world indoors in Turkey,

:50:04. > :50:13.because the standard is a challenging 8.15. But recognition

:50:14. > :50:14.

:50:14. > :50:22.of his personal best, 8.04. Fantastic jump. Getting ready now

:50:22. > :50:32.for the next heat of the men's 60m and that jump by JJ Jegede, fifth

:50:32. > :50:50.

:50:50. > :50:59.longest ever by a British athlete look now at Josh Swaray. Fifth at

:50:59. > :51:02.the UK Indoors 60 last weekend. Harry AA, former world youth and

:51:02. > :51:08.world junior champion at 100 metres, still making his way in the senior

:51:08. > :51:18.ranks, but looking pretty good so far this year. The first of three

:51:18. > :51:25.

:51:25. > :51:32.very good Jamaicans, Michael Frater, silver medallist in 2005. Then

:51:32. > :51:38.Lerone Clarke. He's won both his outings this year, his best so far

:51:38. > :51:47.6.50. Top of the world rankings. The third Jamaican, Nesta Carter,

:51:47. > :51:52.hasn't run indoors this year. Best Briton in this field, Andrew

:51:52. > :52:02.Robertson, second in the UK indoor championships last week. Looking

:52:02. > :52:04.

:52:04. > :52:14.better and better throughout 2012. Angel David Rodriguez of Spain.

:52:14. > :52:14.

:52:14. > :52:24.6.64 he has run this year. And familiar Dutchman next, Brian

:52:24. > :52:25.

:52:25. > :52:33.Mariano. Certainly some stiff opposition for the three Britons in

:52:33. > :52:43.this race. Andrew Robertson, next to Carter in lane six, has actually

:52:43. > :52:50.

:52:50. > :52:57.beaten the IAAF effort to go to his way to the final as one of the

:52:57. > :53:03.top three. Good start there by Frater. Chased

:53:03. > :53:09.by Clarke. Look at this. Wow, that was way, way ahead of anybody else.

:53:09. > :53:13.Clarke and Carter coming through together. 6 6.50. That equals the

:53:13. > :53:19.fastest time in the world this year. Those two Jamaicans absolutely

:53:19. > :53:29.flying. Very impressive indeed. Looks very

:53:29. > :53:31.

:53:31. > :53:36.relaxed about it, does Nesta Carter. That was impressive, Colin.

:53:36. > :53:40.certainly was, Paul. Very, very impressive sprinting by Nesta

:53:40. > :53:44.Carter and also Clarke. Clarke came into this competition as the

:53:44. > :53:47.fastest man in the world, but Carter dealt with him very

:53:47. > :53:52.comfortably and of course Asafa Powell will be waiting and watching

:53:52. > :54:00.this to see who his major rival will be in that final, but it looks

:54:00. > :54:04.very much it could be a Jamaican clean sweep. One, two, three.

:54:04. > :54:08.Carter took that very comfortably indeed. From the blocks, it was a

:54:08. > :54:12.pretty even start all round but Carter seems very controlled, very

:54:12. > :54:15.composed, doesn't seem like he is worried at all in any shape or form.

:54:16. > :54:21.Clarke just gave him a little bit of a glance as they cross the line,

:54:21. > :54:26.which is always funny to see. Let's look at Robertson. He is the

:54:26. > :54:30.fastest Brit in the line-up. He worked very well, very hard. He

:54:31. > :54:38.knows he is under pressure because he wants to do this actual time to

:54:38. > :54:40.get him through to Istanbul. He just misses out on the time. 6 6.69,

:54:40. > :54:50.will be a little bit disappointed with that.

:54:50. > :54:56.I am here with Nesta Carter, 6.51. It shows you the strength and depth

:54:56. > :54:59.in Jamaican sprinting right now. We saw what Powell just done. We have

:54:59. > :55:05.Bolt and Blake. Tell me what it's like to be part of that team.

:55:05. > :55:10.really good to be part of the top sprinters in Jamaica, competing

:55:10. > :55:13.with them and training along with them. It's a really good to be

:55:13. > :55:17.among them. And this kind of performance from you shows you

:55:18. > :55:21.shouldn't be the forgotten man of Jamaican sprinting. Yeah, I just

:55:21. > :55:26.come out here to try and get to the finals and then I take it from

:55:26. > :55:35.there. See what you can do there. We wish you well, thank you for

:55:35. > :55:38.talking to us. Asafa Powell did the whole am I bothered kind of thing

:55:38. > :55:42.before and he clearly was, Colin. It's lovely to see the top

:55:42. > :55:47.sprinters in the world competing here. It's been a long time since

:55:47. > :55:51.the best world sprinters out there, so it's great that Poulaphouca has

:55:51. > :55:58.joined -- Asafa Powell joined us but he looked very controlled and

:55:58. > :56:03.composed. He didn't get the explosive start we could expect.

:56:03. > :56:06.Once he gets into that running, when he puts in that big stride he

:56:06. > :56:10.eases away from the field very comfortably indeed. He will

:56:10. > :56:16.probably look at that and think I could go very close... That's right.

:56:16. > :56:23.He didn't get out fast as you say, we know he can start. The final,

:56:23. > :56:27.maybe something quite special. There's three Jamaicans more to

:56:27. > :56:30.come into this final line-up and he trains with Nesta Carter so he

:56:31. > :56:37.knows what he can deal with. So it's going to be an interesting

:56:37. > :56:42.final but it's good to see. really do struggle with his

:56:42. > :56:47.attitude. I think as a sprinter you need to have a little bit more

:56:48. > :56:51.about you and I just think he needs to be a bit more honest.

:56:51. > :56:56.definitely agree with you. He is going to need to be on his way to

:56:56. > :57:01.beat these guys. And Clarke was the man we were talking about going

:57:01. > :57:05.into this but Carter, lovely running action, very strong. I just

:57:05. > :57:08.think that final promises to be pretty special. Yes, we will see

:57:08. > :57:11.that Jamaican record being broken again, I do believe. We vice-

:57:12. > :57:16.president even got the best two here and they're going to run away

:57:16. > :57:19.with this. That's what is quite astounding, the strength of

:57:19. > :57:22.Jamaican sprinting at the moment. Absolutely. They have to run so

:57:23. > :57:27.hard in their trials to make the Olympic team itself because they'll

:57:27. > :57:30.know virtually they're guaranteed a gold medal in a relay if they do

:57:30. > :57:33.not drop that baton, of course you want to be in that team itself.

:57:33. > :57:36.It's going to be very competitive and I am looking forward to the

:57:36. > :57:39.summer. They're all running very well indeed. It's going to be

:57:39. > :57:43.exceptional. Don't forget the Americans. You mentioned the summer,

:57:43. > :57:50.we can mark your card on what's coming up. We also have the London

:57:50. > :57:53.marathon in April and the great Manchester run in May. And the

:57:53. > :57:58.Great North Run. Obviously in the summer the domestic meetings,

:57:58. > :58:08.tickets are available. We have Diamond League coverage and the

:58:08. > :58:36.

:58:36. > :58:40.Olympic Games. But still to come the two miles.

:58:40. > :58:44.There's confirmation of the result. Carter's time has been dropped by

:58:44. > :58:51.100th of a second. Nevertheless, one of the fastest in the world

:58:51. > :58:53.this year and new lifetime best. Jamaica occupying the first three

:58:53. > :58:57.places. Robertson in fourth, unfortunately he won't make it

:58:57. > :59:05.through to the final. Nevertheless, a good run and Great Britain

:59:05. > :59:11.finishing in 7th and 8th place. That's all leaving us with a mouth-

:59:11. > :59:15.watering final in prospect. Powell tops the list with a personal best.

:59:15. > :59:24.Carter 100th behind and Clarke just behind. The three Jamaicans on top

:59:24. > :59:34.of what looks like a top level, top quality 60m final after 4.00.

:59:34. > :59:47.

:59:47. > :59:54.The bar is set at four metres 52 in attempts to come at this height.

:59:54. > :00:01.That means that next on the runway will be Holly Bleasdale. Rogowska

:00:01. > :00:05.just getting her rhythm and timing, just a third kper to say this --

:00:05. > :00:15.competition this year. Her and Holly Bleasdale have already been

:00:15. > :00:21.

:00:21. > :00:30.head to head at another meeting. first time this afternoon, Holly

:00:30. > :00:38.Bleasdale, who cleared 4.87 in Lyon. And the UK Indoor Championships

:00:38. > :00:45.last weekend, as well. Her first attempt of the afternoon. And it so

:00:45. > :00:50.much room to spare over the top of the bar. But just didn't get it

:00:50. > :01:00.right. But still, the distance she had over the top suggests there is

:01:00. > :01:07.plenty more to come. Absolutely. A study of a very complex event

:01:07. > :01:11.indeed. Polly Bleasdale, two more attempts. There is her coach. She

:01:12. > :01:19.has improved 30 centimetres every year since 2009. If she does that

:01:19. > :01:24.again this year, she could break the world record. Watching Polly

:01:24. > :01:34.Bleasdale, one of the big stars of this meeting this afternoon. The

:01:34. > :01:34.

:01:34. > :02:24.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 42 seconds

:02:24. > :02:30.Masna. Elisa Cusma She won a medal in the indoor championships of 2009.

:02:30. > :02:35.Marilyn Okoro, last week, in Sheffield, went really hard and

:02:35. > :02:41.faded rather badly. She is on her own of. She will hope that the key

:02:41. > :02:48.Griffiths can lead it out at a pace she can follow. -- Vicky Griffiths.

:02:48. > :02:55.She will try to win the race but it will be tough with Morgan Uceny in

:02:55. > :03:02.it. She was very unlucky last year but tripped over. She's already had

:03:02. > :03:08.a couple of good races. And there is Tara Bird, second at UK

:03:08. > :03:18.championships last week. They have asked for a pretty swift 58 seconds

:03:18. > :03:26.

:03:27. > :03:30.to run a race. She likes to go out hard. Maybe the tactics today might

:03:30. > :03:37.be wiser to sit off the pace a little bit. Griffiths, the early

:03:37. > :03:43.leader. Marilyn Okoro in 6th place at the moment. I would suggest

:03:43. > :03:53.something around 59 seconds would suit her better. Marilyn Okoro will

:03:53. > :03:54.

:03:54. > :03:57.be happy the pacemaker is drifting them along at a good pace. Morgan

:03:57. > :04:04.Uceny She was the favoured last year but fell over in the race and

:04:04. > :04:10.sadly, not in a position to compete. Marilyn Okoro, moving up alongside

:04:10. > :04:14.Morgan Uceny. It will be interesting to see them come

:04:15. > :04:21.through the 400-metre point. The rest of the field have not followed

:04:21. > :04:27.that. Well over 64 Marilyn Okoro. That will be interesting to see if

:04:27. > :04:34.she can work off this, because this is much more sensible, rather than

:04:34. > :04:41.running 56, 54. And now Marilyn Okoro is in a good place, gliding

:04:41. > :04:46.alongside Morgan Uceny. Can she attack from there? Marilyn Okoro in

:04:46. > :04:55.second place. The experienced athlete putting yourself into a

:04:55. > :05:05.good place, Cusma. Marilyn Okoro has to hang on and get a time I did

:05:05. > :05:07.

:05:07. > :05:14.this. Morgan Uceny, she is looking dangerous. And if so is Angelika

:05:14. > :05:21.Cichocka. She is hanging on are looking for the tie, Marilyn Okoro.

:05:21. > :05:25.Angelika Cichocka, she is going to take this one on the line. Marilyn

:05:25. > :05:32.Okoro I would suggest will get at 2.35 qualifying time. She was not

:05:32. > :05:37.that far behind. A surprise victory there. She is a very, very good

:05:37. > :05:47.Polish athlete. She ran a very good race last week. It was that

:05:47. > :05:51.strength which brought it through to the finish there. Uceny, a

:05:51. > :05:58.disappointing. I thought she would have more to offer. I thought

:05:58. > :06:08.Marilyn Okoro was being a run out there. An official time of. Godot

:06:08. > :06:11.sorry, and an official time of two minutes and two seconds. This

:06:12. > :06:21.leaves something to think about. Here they come down the back

:06:22. > :06:23.

:06:23. > :06:31.straight. The Italian strikes out. At this point, Uceny looks like she

:06:31. > :06:39.has got the race at one of. But Cichocka comes through. It's a

:06:39. > :06:43.great finish. Marilyn Okoro rallied in the last 50 metres. 2.06. Well,

:06:43. > :06:47.hopefully, the selectors will take note of that and that could give

:06:47. > :06:53.her a chance to run in the world indoor championships in a couple of

:06:53. > :06:58.weeks' time. That's the qualifying time for the World Championships

:06:58. > :07:04.taken care of. As for the race itself, it would give you food for

:07:04. > :07:11.thought, as well? Yes, I want to race again. That's the time taken

:07:11. > :07:15.care of. I've had two runs on my own. I felt fresh there. You know,

:07:15. > :07:19.these girls had a good race the other week, all of them. It's good

:07:19. > :07:27.to be in the next. I got myself into a horrible position where I

:07:27. > :07:35.wanted to strike. But, no, that was encouraging. What will you do from

:07:35. > :07:40.here until his stumble in March? I'm in Birmingham up tomorrow. --

:07:40. > :07:50.East and ball. I will be doing some speed work. If I can, I will get

:07:50. > :07:50.

:07:50. > :07:55.another race. We look feared -- forward to seeing the me there. --

:07:55. > :08:01.seen you there. Thank you very much. The a more even paced race from

:08:01. > :08:07.Marilyn. Sometimes she goes out quite hard. She did last week. 60

:08:07. > :08:16.and 62, much better from Marilyn. She has been given third place.

:08:16. > :08:26.That's not right. We will Clare all of that up. The winner was Poland.

:08:26. > :08:27.

:08:27. > :08:35.Second attempt at four metres 52 for Polly Bleasdale. How can she

:08:35. > :08:40.respond here? Oh! That was not as close as the first attempt. She

:08:40. > :08:50.finds herself under a spot of pressure. She has been magnificent

:08:50. > :08:52.

:08:52. > :08:56.all indoor season all long. An opening height of four metres, 52.

:08:56. > :09:01.Next, the men's 60-metre hurdles. Unfortunately, no Andy Turner but

:09:01. > :09:07.thanks for joining us her. Tamesue of fitness situation. I'm getting

:09:07. > :09:11.better. I had an injection and three weeks of rehab us on getting

:09:11. > :09:20.back to strength. Hopefully I will be back training this week. It's

:09:20. > :09:26.going OK. This should be, Liu Xiang in the final. You yes, it's the

:09:26. > :09:31.World Championships. I think there will be some other guys in the mix

:09:31. > :09:36.as well. It's going to be an interesting final. We will speak to

:09:36. > :09:43.you shortly also let's go to the event. Liu Xiang I think is in

:09:43. > :09:49.first. This is what lies in wait for the athletes in our next event.

:09:49. > :09:53.The 60-metre hurdles. Heavily featured in that event. A man, a

:09:53. > :09:59.former world record holder. An Olympic champion, too. There he is,

:09:59. > :10:09.Liu Xiang. From the People's Republic of China. Former world

:10:09. > :10:10.

:10:10. > :10:20.indoor champion as well, so he is pretty useful. She is the line-up.

:10:20. > :10:23.

:10:23. > :10:29.-- here is the line-up. In fact, the Chinese combat the does not

:10:29. > :10:39.start in it two. Cuban a number two, the man who goes in the next a team.

:10:39. > :10:42.

:10:42. > :10:52.Orlando Ortega And then comes Andrew Pozzi Dayron Robles. 9th on

:10:52. > :10:56.the British all-time list. The UK indoor champion, Andrew Pozzi.

:10:56. > :11:02.Craddock, currently 5th in the world. 7.53 seconds, and having a

:11:02. > :11:11.good season, already. And then Liu Xiang, silver-medallist last year.

:11:11. > :11:19.It was one of the most talked-about finals on the track. His arch rival

:11:19. > :11:29.is up Dayron Robles and he was disqualified for impeding Liu Xiang.

:11:29. > :11:29.

:11:29. > :11:33.Potter, another American. Ranked 8th in the world this year. Chris

:11:33. > :11:43.Baillie, of form at Commonwealth silver-medallist, finished 6th in

:11:43. > :11:43.

:11:43. > :11:51.Sheffield last weekend. And finally, from would Ford Greene in Essex,

:11:51. > :11:57.Richard Alleyne. Became a British citizen back in 2003. A regular

:11:58. > :12:02.fixture. At a British track and field meetings. He finished just

:12:02. > :12:11.ahead of Chris Baillie last weekend in 5th place but all eyes are on

:12:11. > :12:21.Liu Xiang. One of the greatest in history. In doors? He has become

:12:21. > :12:28.

:12:28. > :12:38.world indoor champion back in at with Dayron Robles by the time they

:12:38. > :12:43.

:12:43. > :12:51.Potter is making headway but Liu Xiang stroll through, 7.49,

:12:51. > :12:56.equalling the fastest time in the world in 2012. That was very easy

:12:56. > :13:06.by Liu Xiang. Certainly coming back to his best. He looked very

:13:06. > :13:09.

:13:09. > :13:14.of the fact it is his first race, and what a race it was. Good start

:13:14. > :13:19.by the man in lane five pulled up alongside him, on the inside, Kevin

:13:19. > :13:23.Craddock from the USA was trying to stay with him. Watch when he comes

:13:23. > :13:30.off number four, he begins to stretch away. Good sprinting

:13:30. > :13:35.between the hurdles. Porter came through very quickly for the USA.

:13:35. > :13:40.And Andrew Pozzi could have qualified in third place. A good

:13:40. > :13:45.run of. We are having a look at Andrew Pozzi are now. This was a

:13:45. > :13:49.great run. A lot of pressure with a lot of greater people around him,

:13:49. > :13:55.but he worked his way through the field very well indeed. A personal

:13:55. > :13:58.best for the season, 7.62, just getting here it is a great

:13:58. > :14:06.performance by him and I'm sure he will be into the final and he will

:14:06. > :14:09.be very happy indeed. Let's have a look at the full field. A good

:14:09. > :14:16.explosion out of the blocks but all of the athletes. If you think about

:14:16. > :14:22.it, the man on his left and side, Craddock from the USA, dealt with

:14:22. > :14:31.Dayron Robles in a Dusseldorf but look how far Liu Xiang is in front

:14:31. > :14:37.of him. Equalling his lifetime best, Andrew Pozzi. More importantly, he

:14:37. > :14:42.is automatically through to the final. Liu Xiang, 7.49, season's

:14:42. > :14:50.best. The fastest in the world this year. Porter from the USA, second

:14:50. > :14:55.automatic qualifying. The other Britons in 6th and 7th place.

:14:55. > :15:02.Another turn alongside us now. Jasmin. We were just discussing

:15:02. > :15:05.what to expect from Liu Xiang. It was a bit special. His first race,

:15:05. > :15:10.for someone to come out and run a time which could win a medal,

:15:10. > :15:15.indoors, in his first race of the season, it's the normal. He is

:15:15. > :15:21.going to run now indoors for the you normally expect athletes at you

:15:21. > :15:26.raised is to get into their stride. He looked just phenomenal. Normally

:15:26. > :15:31.it takes races to find your rhythm. But he just seems to come out first

:15:31. > :15:37.race and be able to pour out a world-class time every time a. I've

:15:37. > :15:46.no idea how he does it but is massively talented. He isn't in the

:15:46. > :15:51.best indoor form so far, Dayron Robles. I'm not too sure. I'm not

:15:51. > :15:56.sure what is capable of at the moment. He is a quality athletes.

:15:56. > :16:00.At any point, he will challenge Liu Xiang. He is in the next race.

:16:00. > :16:10.Controversially disqualified last year in the world championships

:16:10. > :16:12.

:16:12. > :16:16.record holder. Great to see you here in Britain, as wuls, -- as

:16:16. > :16:22.always, in this big Olympic year what benefits do you get personally

:16:22. > :16:25.out of an indoor season? TRANSLATION:

:16:25. > :16:31.Indoors is very important to me because it's part of my preparation

:16:31. > :16:34.for outdoors. It improves the first part of my race, and also what ever

:16:34. > :16:44.mechanical problems I have I can fix it when I am running indoors.

:16:44. > :16:45.

:16:45. > :16:49.It's very important I compete well during the indoor season. What's it

:16:49. > :16:54.like to come face-to-face with Liu Xiang, bearing in mind what

:16:54. > :17:00.happened to you and him in Daegu and the disqualification that came

:17:00. > :17:08.your way. The Olympic champion of Cuba has been disqualified for a

:17:08. > :17:12.rule which disallows any athlete what has jostled or or obstructed

:17:12. > :17:16.another athlete... What's it like going to head-to-head again?

:17:16. > :17:20.TRANSLATION: I love the guy, he is a good friend

:17:20. > :17:27.and it gets me more focused when Liu Xiang is in it because I have

:17:27. > :17:31.to run my best race to beat him. I enjoy competing against my rivals,

:17:31. > :17:34.it gives me an idea of where they are with their training. It gives

:17:34. > :17:44.me an idea of where I am. It's something I look forward to every

:17:44. > :17:45.

:17:45. > :17:55.year to compete against the best in the world. First to the pole vault,

:17:55. > :18:04.

:18:04. > :18:11.Holly Bleasdale, third and final now.

:18:11. > :18:21.Oh, yes! Was it ever in doubt? She allows herself a smile of

:18:21. > :18:21.

:18:21. > :18:26.relief. And now perhaps can focus on getting into the realm of four

:18:26. > :18:30.metres 70. Everybody in the crowd breathed a massive sigh of relief

:18:30. > :18:34.there, I think you are right, more importantly, it's a good rehearsal

:18:34. > :18:41.for championship vaulting. Third and final attempt always produces

:18:41. > :18:46.its own kind of pressure. That was a good effort by the young

:18:46. > :18:51.Blackburn athlete. Just in consultation with her coach. It's

:18:51. > :18:57.just her and Pyrek left in the competition.

:18:57. > :19:07.So, to the second heat of the 60m hurdles. Dayron Robles we heard

:19:07. > :19:19.

:19:19. > :19:29.from, looking to qualify safely to join Liu Xiang. Mazac of the

:19:29. > :19:31.

:19:31. > :19:41.Czech Republic. 21 years of age. Next to him Julian Adeniran. He had

:19:41. > :19:46.

:19:46. > :19:52.a good season last year. Emanuel Abate from Italy. He is

:19:52. > :19:57.right up there in world terms. Not quite as fast as this man,

:19:57. > :20:01.Dayron Robles. Surely 7.55 will be something he wants to improve on.

:20:01. > :20:06.He has seen Liu Xiang, he knows the gauntlet has been thrown down a

:20:06. > :20:16.little, although getting through is the main issue here. Merritt has

:20:16. > :20:19.

:20:19. > :20:24.been in good form. He is the fastest in the field here this year.

:20:24. > :20:28.Dexter Faulk from the United States. Second in the match at Glasgow.

:20:28. > :20:32.And Lawrence Clarke, a huge disappoint the for him, he had

:20:32. > :20:37.geared himself up for a race against Pozzi last week in the

:20:37. > :20:47.trials but was disqualified for a false start. He needs to redeem

:20:47. > :20:54.

:20:54. > :21:04.himself here. And then Balazs Baji of Hungary.

:21:04. > :21:04.

:21:04. > :21:13.So the second heat. Concentration order of the game here for Robles.

:21:13. > :21:23.I am sure he saw what Liu Xiang did. He might want to make a mark

:21:23. > :21:50.

:21:50. > :21:54.himself here as well. He was beaten Xiang at all. Not so good out of

:21:54. > :21:57.the blocks for Dayron Robles. He knows that wasn't the best - or

:21:57. > :22:01.type of performance he needs to produce if he is going to do well

:22:01. > :22:08.when we get to the World Indoors and later this afternoon, because

:22:08. > :22:12.he will be a long way behind Liu Xiang on the basis of that.

:22:12. > :22:15.Colin, what do you reckon? Interesting that, he is looking

:22:16. > :22:19.around and he looks really confused with his performance. He is looking

:22:19. > :22:25.at the big screen to see exactly how he went. I think he will be

:22:25. > :22:30.disappointed the fact he couldn't get out as fast as Merritt. Once he

:22:30. > :22:36.got into his fluent running I don't think he needs to concern himself.

:22:36. > :22:41.Be strong, be confident. He is powerful, but this is where he gets

:22:41. > :22:44.his real distance from most of the athletes. He has an incredible

:22:44. > :22:48.trail leg. Comes through right under his body very quickly indeed

:22:48. > :22:56.and puts him into a good running position and that's what all

:22:56. > :23:01.hurdlers try to achieve. He is cruising into the line. Wide shot.

:23:01. > :23:07.As you can see, very slow off the blocks. Didn't seem to react. I

:23:07. > :23:11.don't know if he wasn't thinking he needs to having urgency, but he

:23:11. > :23:21.soon had to pull himself together and qualified well indeed. Good

:23:21. > :23:29.

:23:29. > :23:39.head-to-head in that final. We look pass at four metres 62, having seen

:23:39. > :23:40.

:23:40. > :23:47.Rogowska go through. Two athletes remain in the competition. Rogowska

:23:47. > :23:55.cleared that comfortably. Rogowska has the advantage. Bleasdale has

:23:56. > :24:01.elected to pass at that height. The bar will be raised to 4.70.

:24:01. > :24:04.Certainly Rogowska is one of the athletes she will be facing in the

:24:04. > :24:09.World Indoor Championships and of Olympics, of course and one of the

:24:09. > :24:18.athletes that could well figure on the medal rostrum. Consistently one

:24:18. > :24:24.of the best in the world this year. In recent years, also. A victory

:24:24. > :24:29.over this athlete would be phenomenonal. The clock counting

:24:29. > :24:39.down, Rogowska, an athlete of her experience is aware of that.

:24:39. > :24:41.

:24:41. > :24:48.Approaching the ten second mark. Making her first attempt at 4.70.

:24:48. > :24:54.Gave it a fair old rattle, it thought about staying up,

:24:54. > :25:01.eventually came down. Two attempts at 4.70 remain for Rogowska.

:25:01. > :25:11.Just her third competition of the year, so that 4.62 represents a

:25:11. > :25:33.

:25:34. > :25:43.season best. Bleasdale will be next second heat of the hurdles:

:25:43. > :25:47.It was a personal best for Clarke. We have our eye on Holly Bleasdale,

:25:47. > :25:53.she is about to jump. We will talk hurdles for the moment. Both of the

:25:53. > :25:59.star names through. Advantage Lewes I would say -- Liu Xiang I would

:25:59. > :26:04.say. He is looking the sharper of the two. I am surprised by Robles,

:26:04. > :26:09.he said he felt in good shape. Liu Xiang, his start was on point.

:26:10. > :26:14.Technically you can't fault the guy. Great technique. He makes that look

:26:14. > :26:20.easy. As we said, Colin, to come the first race out and run like

:26:20. > :26:24.that even more impressive. He is a quality athlete. He's been the

:26:24. > :26:27.Olympic champion. We can only expect him to come out and be

:26:27. > :26:33.really explosive. When you have a flawless technique, you expect it.

:26:33. > :26:39.Holly Bleasdale is about to jump, let's go straight to the pole vault.

:26:39. > :26:45.Holly Bleasdale elected to pass at 4.62. This is her first time effort

:26:45. > :26:49.at 4.70. And yes, she goes clear! Holly

:26:49. > :26:54.Bleasdale takes the lead in this competition. After that slight case

:26:54. > :27:00.of nerves at her opening height of 4.52, no mistake. She goes into the

:27:00. > :27:05.lead with a first-time clearance of 4.70. The same height she cleared

:27:05. > :27:13.to take the indoor title last week at Sheffield and repeats it again.

:27:13. > :27:19.She said her ambition was to get to 4.70 on a consistent basis. It's

:27:19. > :27:26.job done. Now she's looking to go higher. After looking a bit shaky,

:27:26. > :27:29.all going well for Holly now. Back to hurdles. Let's talk Dayron

:27:29. > :27:35.Robles. He slept on the blocks, came through, did enough. But you

:27:35. > :27:39.wonder whether he is focused on this indoor season. Yeah, he

:27:39. > :27:46.competed until late last year. I was surprised to see him run

:27:46. > :27:52.indoors at all. His start was slug slugish. He comes through the field.

:27:52. > :27:56.Liu Xiang is looking a lot better. There's still more in the tank from

:27:56. > :28:00.Robles. I don't think he is on a par with Liu Xiang at this time.

:28:00. > :28:03.wonder if he is thinking Olympics, I want to defend my title. I will

:28:03. > :28:09.go through the motions, maybe some pressure from the cubeian

:28:09. > :28:15.federation to compete indoors but his heart is not in it. Remember he

:28:15. > :28:18.has had injury problems as well and you have to really focus on what's

:28:18. > :28:26.right for to you prepare for your major event in your mind. As you

:28:26. > :28:29.say, he wants to defend his Olympic title. He will become the third

:28:29. > :28:31.hurdler ever to defend it if that happens to him. It's about focus,

:28:31. > :28:35.control. He is here to be competitive. Every champion once

:28:35. > :28:38.they get on the line wants to produce incredible performances and

:28:38. > :28:42.he will not want to lose to Liu Xiang today. We look forward to

:28:42. > :28:47.that race. In terms of your season, obviously you know coming back from

:28:47. > :28:51.injury, how are you looking to build up to 2012? I am going to try

:28:51. > :28:55.to do much the same as last year. We are not going to change things

:28:55. > :28:58.up because of Olympic year. Things have been on an upward spiral the

:28:59. > :29:02.last few years. I am trying to replicate last year. For me it's

:29:03. > :29:07.about staying injury-free, getting as much training as possible and if

:29:07. > :29:17.tkoeu that I am confident I can run another personal best and get in

:29:17. > :29:18.

:29:18. > :29:28.with a shout at the medals. Good luck. The men's 800 up on track

:29:28. > :30:01.

:30:01. > :30:05.Learmonth has had a great winter season already. And will be looking

:30:06. > :30:11.forward to his opportunity here, just 19 years of age. Andrew has

:30:11. > :30:21.had a troubled winter so far this year, certainly set Istanbul as a

:30:21. > :30:22.

:30:22. > :30:29.target. Will need to run well here if toes give the selectors a nudge.

:30:29. > :30:38.Lewandowski, it's been his team- mate who's been running superbly

:30:38. > :30:48.well. Lalang, the Commonwealth champion. And then this man, Aman,

:30:48. > :30:54.

:30:54. > :30:58.champion, won in Glasgow. He looks a different athlete this winter.

:30:58. > :31:08.He's done more endurance work this year and it is showing so far. A

:31:08. > :31:16.

:31:16. > :31:21.big test for him here. And Rapatz huge opportunity. He has already

:31:21. > :31:27.been picked for Istanbul. He wants to show what he can do against some

:31:27. > :31:32.big names here. He has a blistering pace, Joe Thomas. He hasn't got any

:31:32. > :31:42.faster times to his name but I think he's capable of going quickly

:31:42. > :31:44.

:31:44. > :31:50.this year. Coming up behind him, Lewandowski. Thomas is right

:31:50. > :31:55.alongside Boaz Lalang. This is a real step up in class for Joe

:31:55. > :31:59.Thomas. He really has a chance today to take some scalps to propel

:32:00. > :32:05.him towards the World Indoor Championships. He has looked good

:32:05. > :32:09.all winter. An improved athlete. He is letting the gaps open, which she

:32:09. > :32:15.doesn't need to do at this point. You can't always allow a fast

:32:15. > :32:25.finish. He is far too far adrift, really. These are good guys at the

:32:25. > :32:29.

:32:29. > :32:39.front. Aman, he has only had one big race this year so far. Thomas

:32:39. > :32:41.

:32:41. > :32:45.has got to try to close this gap. Aman, he goes alongside him. The

:32:45. > :32:49.18th the old Ethiopian is doing well for the by Joe Thomas running

:32:49. > :32:56.strongly down the back straight. These front three are having their

:32:56. > :33:03.own a private race. Lewandowski, response again, finds something

:33:03. > :33:11.extra. It's going to be very close on the line. Joe Thomas takes 4th

:33:11. > :33:21.place, a new personal best for him. 1.4 5.41, he will be pleased with

:33:21. > :33:29.that. His first big victory of the year. Mohamed Aman, from Ethiopia,

:33:30. > :33:36.still only 18. Andrew Osagie, fighting for this. He was trying to

:33:36. > :33:46.hold off all comers on this last lap, and almost did. They were

:33:46. > :33:47.

:33:47. > :33:57.going head to head on the back fantastically well this summer, I'm

:33:57. > :34:01.sure. Aman, into the finishing straight, battling it out with the

:34:01. > :34:07.European champion. He has done it again. Joe Thomas, there, in 4th

:34:07. > :34:11.place, setting a personal best, I'm a pretty short. I think he will be

:34:11. > :34:19.delighted with that step up in class. A great performance by the

:34:19. > :34:29.young Ethiopian. The bar has been raised to four metres and 78 in the

:34:29. > :34:34.

:34:34. > :34:44.women's pole vault. Two athletes Again, Bleasdale will have the

:34:44. > :34:55.

:34:55. > :35:00.opportunity to take the advantage season's best at her second attempt,

:35:00. > :35:04.four metres and 70. She is not short of that sort of form here. It

:35:04. > :35:08.is all about Holly Bleasdale for that it she can get it on the first

:35:08. > :35:17.attempt, surely she will take this competition by the scruff of the

:35:17. > :35:22.neck. The coaches watching intently, always involved, always animated.

:35:22. > :35:32.The good news, we have seen the result of that 800 metres, a new

:35:32. > :35:32.

:35:32. > :35:37.national record. Joe Thomas, further down, a new personal best,

:35:37. > :35:43.5th on the UK all-time list, and a very promising run as well from

:35:43. > :35:48.Andrew Osagie. His first race back. It could be enough for them to

:35:48. > :35:51.represent Great Britain at the World Indoor Championships. Firth

:35:51. > :35:59.on the UK all-time list after that. A different experience for you

:35:59. > :36:04.today. Yes, I have been used to being near the front. I a personal

:36:04. > :36:10.best every race so far. It was a shock to the system. It's part of

:36:10. > :36:16.experience. Yes, I love a good race. That felt more like a time trial

:36:17. > :36:22.than anything. Another personal best. The consistency is there.

:36:22. > :36:27.Keep it going. All the best for the World Championships. Thank you.

:36:27. > :36:32.A nice run their from Joe Thomas and I think it was very difficult

:36:32. > :36:37.for him to pace that race, to go with the guys in front would have

:36:37. > :36:42.been too far, so I thought was very mature. You're right. Had he risked

:36:42. > :36:47.and gone out with the big runners in a race, I think he would have

:36:47. > :36:52.struggled. It's very hard in the 800 metres when you're in no-man's-

:36:52. > :36:58.land, and I think he really ran a great race. I just like his style.

:36:58. > :37:02.If he is confident and another personal best. And he goes to the

:37:02. > :37:06.World Indoor Championships. Yes, a great way to go to Istanbul. He

:37:06. > :37:09.knows what is up against, clearly. He was not overawed by the

:37:09. > :37:13.competition so, for me, it was a good performance and I think he

:37:13. > :37:20.will build on this. Women's pole vault coming down to the final

:37:20. > :37:30.stages now. Holly Bleasdale with her next attempt. Four metres and

:37:30. > :37:34.

:37:34. > :37:44.78. We have already seen Rogowska, her first failure. No, not to be.

:37:44. > :37:53.

:37:53. > :38:01.the women's long jump. We will catch up with a shortly but next

:38:01. > :38:07.it's the women's 60-metre final. I think it looks amazing is mother-

:38:07. > :38:13.son. She is amazing all year. -- Madison. She looks majestic it

:38:13. > :38:18.today. She is so compact and powerful. 60 metres suits a very

:38:18. > :38:24.well indeed. Don't be fooled, she has a great 100-metre personal best

:38:24. > :38:30.as well for the she has come on leaps and bounds this year. As a

:38:30. > :38:36.long jumper, you would expect that. Yes. I thought you would like that

:38:36. > :38:40.one! All the top sprinters will fear her over 60 metres. Our only

:38:40. > :38:47.laughed because that your birthday, by the way. Who is her main

:38:47. > :38:52.challenger? You have got to look at the Jamaicans. I just feel that

:38:52. > :38:57.women's sprinting at the moment is red hot, and so hard to call for

:38:58. > :39:05.that you have got to make sure, in this race, it's all about the start.

:39:05. > :39:15.It's got to be electric. Mother-son is quite something. The final of

:39:15. > :39:25.

:39:25. > :39:35.for some time adjusting their jump champion should, of course.

:39:35. > :39:42.

:39:42. > :39:51.pick up and the way she finishes off the sprint. She asked for some

:39:51. > :39:57.of medical help. The only Briton to have qualified. Asha Philip. Let's

:39:57. > :40:07.go back to the pole vault for at the moment. Now the second attempt.

:40:07. > :40:09.

:40:09. > :40:17.No. Completely bailed out on that one. Holly Bleasdale. She has just

:40:17. > :40:27.seen Rogowska run-throughs. Bleasdale, attempting a second best

:40:27. > :40:28.

:40:28. > :40:37.clearance ever. 4.71 she jumped in December. 4.87 in a Lyon in its

:40:37. > :40:47.January. Second attempt. Oh! And again, solid attempt. One attempt

:40:47. > :40:49.

:40:49. > :40:59.remains for the two remaining for the fastest woman, perhaps not

:40:59. > :41:11.

:41:11. > :41:20.just in Birmingham but the world Madison in lane four as favourite.

:41:21. > :41:28.Lakya Brookins, a lifetime best. Very useful if she could keep that.

:41:28. > :41:37.Asha Philip, a lifetime best in the heats. She has now moved up to 9th

:41:37. > :41:40.on the British all-time list, so a very good prospect indeed. Gloria

:41:40. > :41:45.Asumnu, I am worried about her. She was asking for medical help at the

:41:45. > :41:52.start of the race but she is on the start line. 7.14 is her lifetime

:41:52. > :41:59.best. Maddison, diminutive, slim, slight, but a good starter and a

:41:59. > :42:08.great finisher, too. 7.02, her lifetime best. Fastest in the world

:42:08. > :42:16.this year. Ivet Lalova, from Bulgaria, a good start of. If she

:42:16. > :42:20.can repeat the start she had in a semi-final, who knows? Tameka

:42:20. > :42:30.Williams, the 60 metres record holder as well as other distances,

:42:30. > :42:32.

:42:32. > :42:42.as well. One of the best Europeans is Ezinne Okparebo, should get

:42:42. > :42:42.

:42:42. > :42:47.close to a season best, 7.21. And finally, Aleen Bailey. The flags

:42:47. > :42:53.showing she is coming from the place where all the good sprinters

:42:53. > :43:03.come from. Jamaica. We get a good idea, whoever wins this, could be

:43:03. > :43:12.

:43:12. > :43:22.Tianna Madison And perhaps Williams in lane six. And also for Great

:43:22. > :43:30.

:43:30. > :43:36.Britain, Asha Philip. There she is Tianna Madison, absolutely flying.

:43:36. > :43:42.An absolutely wonderful 7.07, she stops the clock at, a very fast

:43:42. > :43:49.time indeed. A really classy athlete. Looks pretty cool, calm

:43:49. > :43:52.and collected about it. What a sprinter. Not quite as fast as Sue

:43:52. > :44:00.ran earlier this year but, nevertheless, a world-class time

:44:00. > :44:05.there. Denise, a good run, wasn't it? Fantastic, really compose to. A

:44:05. > :44:11.very strange hand position at the start, but it didn't affect her, at

:44:11. > :44:18.all, and once she moves through this field, cool, calm, collected,

:44:18. > :44:25.technique intact, beautiful running from a virtually unknown sprinter.

:44:25. > :44:28.Let's have a look at his overhead shot. Her hand, is supposed to be

:44:28. > :44:35.behind the line but the officials done call that. A lovely runner,

:44:35. > :44:38.here. But didn't call that. It's all about running faster times but

:44:38. > :44:48.in Istanbul, will she be able to deliver and get a medal around her

:44:48. > :44:58.neck? Driving really hard. But still, no tension in that face.

:44:58. > :45:01.

:45:01. > :45:06.Pumping hard. Very good run by here. Very good run by Madison. Asha

:45:06. > :45:16.Philip, another lifetime best performance, 7.19, certainly one of

:45:16. > :45:21.

:45:21. > :45:31.the fastest times by a British her third and final attempt with

:45:31. > :45:42.

:45:42. > :45:49.the bar set at 4.7 -- 4.78. Getting encouraged by the crowd.

:45:49. > :45:56.And no. Didn't fully commit. But Holly Bleasdale takes first place

:45:56. > :46:03.and some pretty notable scalps in this competition. Best clearance of

:46:03. > :46:08.4.70. But when you have got the names like Rogowska and Pyrek

:46:08. > :46:18.finishing beneath tu reinforces and emphasises the rich vein of form

:46:18. > :46:21.Holly Bleasdale is in and will go to Turkey full of confidence.

:46:21. > :46:31.Certainly some interesting stats to show you in this final of the

:46:31. > :46:47.

:46:47. > :46:51.Philip but let's hear from the winner.

:46:51. > :46:56.Thank you very much, another tremendous performance in what's

:46:56. > :47:03.been a wonderful start to the season for you. Thank you. You know,

:47:03. > :47:08.today was just for - the the -- race was dedicated to girls in the

:47:08. > :47:11.world who feel they've made mistakes, it's a testament you can

:47:11. > :47:14.take your life back and turn it around, don't cheat yourself and

:47:14. > :47:24.cut corners and you can do it. have you done wrong that you are

:47:24. > :47:25.

:47:25. > :47:32.putting right? You know, by cutting corners I mean if you have three

:47:32. > :47:40.runs, don't do two and a half. are You are going to target the

:47:40. > :47:48.World Championships. Have to do the nationals first. You are a self-

:47:48. > :47:55.confessed nerd on your website, what do you study. Micro biology.

:47:55. > :47:58.You are a fast running nerd you are telling us. And jumper. Thank you

:47:59. > :48:07.very much. It's been a great afternoon so far but still plenty

:48:07. > :48:13.to come. Bernard Lagat in the 1500. In the women's 1500 it's Hannah

:48:13. > :48:17.England. Then that big head-to-head Dayron Robles against Liu Xiang in

:48:17. > :48:22.the hurdles, who will come out on top?

:48:22. > :48:28.And then Asafa Powell looked in fantastic shape in his heat, can he

:48:28. > :48:31.go 6.50 in the final? And Mo Farah rounds it all off in the two miles.

:48:32. > :48:36.Obviously a story there with Tianna Madison, she was the world champion

:48:36. > :48:41.2005 and here she is in 2012 sprinting and doing it to quite

:48:41. > :48:46.great effect. Absolutely. Imagine if she would go back to long

:48:46. > :48:50.jumping. Fabulous performance by her and indeed the first four girls

:48:50. > :48:54.running fantastically well. More to come from her, but like I said when

:48:54. > :48:57.I was talking about the race itself, it's all good about running fast

:48:57. > :49:01.times, you have got to repeat it. You have to be able to do it at

:49:02. > :49:07.championships and she will face some seasoned athletes. And a super

:49:07. > :49:14.run from Asha Philip. Great to see her return. Fourth in the British

:49:14. > :49:17.all-time list. We like the fact that women's sprinting, there's a

:49:17. > :49:21.real resurgence. I am looking forward to the outdoor trials and

:49:21. > :49:31.who makes the team and individual spot. Exciting, watch this space.

:49:31. > :49:52.

:49:52. > :49:55.had to run this afternoon to decide who would join Nigel. Richard Buck

:49:56. > :50:00.in the red vest, because he was on the outside went out with real

:50:00. > :50:03.intent through the first 200 m, knew that he had to win and also

:50:03. > :50:12.get a fast time and Williams in his first 400 of the year got very

:50:12. > :50:19.close to him down the back strait. The race was really between the two

:50:19. > :50:23.of them. Buck trying to hold off Conrad Williams. It looked like

:50:23. > :50:33.Williams might have that extra but Buck kicked away and watch the

:50:33. > :50:39.clock, it was a superb 45.89, the sixst fastest in -- 6th fastest in

:50:39. > :50:45.the world. No wonder he was pleased. Great run from Richard Buck and

:50:45. > :50:55.good news that Conrad Williams with a personal best in second. Nigel

:50:55. > :51:25.

:51:25. > :51:28.will have been watching that, I am Lennon Ford, will have been

:51:28. > :51:38.watching that earlier race and wondering whether he is in the

:51:38. > :51:46.right race. The outside lane is such a big advantage. Rabah Yousif

:51:46. > :51:54.trains in the north-east still. Had a cracking year last year.

:51:54. > :52:00.The world indoor champion in 2010, Chris Brown. Beaten in the

:52:00. > :52:05.international match up in Glasgow. Didn't look in such good form.

:52:05. > :52:09.Maybe three or four weeks of training has helped. Nery Brenes

:52:09. > :52:18.disqualified in his last race. Big meet in Germany last week. He was

:52:18. > :52:26.disqualified because of a lane infringement. And Nigel Levine. He

:52:26. > :52:36.won those trials, the European under 23 champion from last summer.

:52:36. > :52:46.

:52:46. > :52:50.He will have noted the performance indoors is such that the first 200

:52:50. > :53:00.very crucial. The tactics, if you like, of trying to get out and

:53:00. > :53:07.

:53:07. > :53:14.control the race without down by Brenes. Brown with work to

:53:14. > :53:18.do here to get on on terms Yousif has started slowly. Lennon Ford has

:53:18. > :53:25.attacked through the first 250. It's going to be close to see who

:53:25. > :53:33.breaks for the inside. It's going to be Brenes with Le vine in a good

:53:33. > :53:37.position. It's Brenes leading. Levine in second. Trying to hang on.

:53:37. > :53:43.Brenes stretching it out. Looking very good. Levine not able to go

:53:43. > :53:52.with it. It's going to be a one- horse race. Brenes falls, steps on

:53:53. > :53:57.the inside and Levine takes the win! Well, shock win because it

:53:57. > :54:02.didn't look as though that was on the cards. But what about the time?

:54:02. > :54:06.Two great performances from British 400 metre runners. It looked like

:54:06. > :54:11.he was tiring. It was the fact he stepped on the inside made him fall.

:54:11. > :54:18.But what a good performance from this young man here. Two British

:54:18. > :54:21.men right up into the world's top five or six over 400 metres indoors.

:54:21. > :54:26.And Brenes, well, there is a smile there. He was going so well. Surely

:54:26. > :54:30.he would have got a super - let's see what happens here, Paul.

:54:30. > :54:36.Incredible. Everybody was looking to see who was going to win it and

:54:36. > :54:39.everybody thought Brenes was but Levine - he had a look around but

:54:39. > :54:45.there was nobody coming. Chris Brown, former world indoor champion,

:54:45. > :54:49.was the nearest. What a great day it's been for indoor British 400

:54:49. > :54:53.metre running. Brenes, well, that is remarkable. I have never seen

:54:53. > :54:58.that before. He just stepped on the advertising boarding at the side of

:54:58. > :55:03.the track, which was tucked well inside the line there. Levine

:55:03. > :55:13.produces one of the fastest times in the world. He looks in very good

:55:13. > :55:18.shape indeed to go to Turkey. two times from the earlier national

:55:18. > :55:24.race, and from that race put them 5th and 7th in the world this year.

:55:24. > :55:31.Really encouraging performances from those two. Indeed backed up by

:55:31. > :55:34.Conrad Williams who ran justious 46. Brenes must be wondering what's

:55:34. > :55:44.going on, disqualified last week and then tripping up there. There

:55:44. > :56:06.

:56:06. > :56:11.continuing his rich vein of form. Equalling his lifetime best but

:56:11. > :56:15.still short of the extremely challenging qualification of 8.15

:56:15. > :56:19.that is set for the world indoors in Istanbul. So tough, in fact,

:56:20. > :56:25.that only four men have have cleared 8.15 or better so far this

:56:25. > :56:30.indoor season. Nigel is with me, after a

:56:30. > :56:33.tremendous performance in the 400. After what Richard Buck did earlier,

:56:33. > :56:38.did that inspire to you do a similar performance? No, not really.

:56:38. > :56:46.I was concentrating on my own race, trying to focus about winning and

:56:46. > :56:51.taking it through to the Worlds. Hopefully from there. As you came

:56:51. > :56:56.through it was 45.72. You must be thrilled with the way things are

:56:56. > :56:59.heading? Yeah, thrilled to run a PB on an indoor track. Hopefully

:56:59. > :57:02.outdoors will be much better and get the Olympic qualifying time.

:57:02. > :57:07.Have you ever been in a race where that has happened before, the guy

:57:07. > :57:10.in front just buckled and fell? I never seen someone fall in front

:57:10. > :57:15.of me like that ever before. Luckily, I wasn't that close behind

:57:15. > :57:19.him to get tripped, so I had to run around him. Sorry that he fell, but

:57:19. > :57:24.it's racing. Indeed. It was a fine performance. Keep it going to the

:57:24. > :57:31.Worlds, well done. Thank you very much. I would like to to thank

:57:31. > :57:36.everyone, team Christie, mum, dad, thank you.

:57:36. > :57:39.That winning time, a new personal best down to 45.71 which puts him

:57:40. > :57:44.fourth in the world this year. Good performance from him.

:57:44. > :57:50.You have to say that Brenes looked as though he would have been set

:57:50. > :57:55.for something quick there. But certainly good form from the

:57:55. > :58:00.British 400m men. That did make us giggle up here,

:58:00. > :58:04.thankfully he wasn't too close behind. Very good run from Nigel.

:58:04. > :58:07.It was a very good run. Very strong run. To elevate himself there at

:58:07. > :58:10.the world list is a really exceptional performance by him. He

:58:10. > :58:16.kept a cool head. It was very competitive. It's a difficult race

:58:16. > :58:21.to run the 400 m indoors, you are running at pace and have a lot of

:58:21. > :58:25.lane changes. It's difficult to have good control. It's never

:58:25. > :58:30.normally so difficult in the closing strait. You don't usually

:58:30. > :58:33.have obstacles at the end. He handled that well. Even when Brenes

:58:34. > :58:38.falls you can see what happens behind, everybody looks shocked and

:58:38. > :58:41.what's going to happen, oh, I have to pass. Great performance by him

:58:41. > :58:46.all the way. He is going into Istanbul with a lot of confidence

:58:46. > :58:50.and that's what we want to see. At last we are getting 400m runners at

:58:50. > :58:58.the best of their games again, which is fantastic for us. What

:58:58. > :59:03.would have been his run had he not fallen? He might have run close to

:59:03. > :59:07.45.1 perhaps. It's very unfortunate. Doesn't seem to be any controversy

:59:07. > :59:17.there. His legs went underneath him and he ended up hitting the deck.

:59:17. > :59:19.

:59:19. > :59:23.Great run from Nigel. Nigel and Richard going to Istanbul. Now the

:59:23. > :59:33.women's 800m. This is going to be a real test for

:59:33. > :59:33.

:59:33. > :00:16.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 42 seconds

:00:16. > :00:25.Helen, and the rest. There she is. A lifetime best. Still a British

:00:25. > :00:35.record is held by a Jo Pavey, which she ran in stood guard in 2007,

:00:35. > :00:44.

:00:44. > :00:54.eight 31.50. I think we can expect here. The Romanian champion. Roxana

:00:54. > :00:55.

:00:55. > :01:01.Barca. Elle Baker. Along with Gemma Steel. The same club as Paula

:01:01. > :01:11.Radcliffe. And then Emily Pidgeon, the European junior champion at

:01:11. > :01:21.5,000 metres. And then the Kenyan champion at 1,500. Helen Obiri. And

:01:21. > :01:21.

:01:21. > :01:27.then the world cross-country champion. Gelete Burka. And then

:01:27. > :01:36.Helen Clitheroe. And the real outsider, the real outsider, one of

:01:36. > :01:40.the all-time greats at 25 years old. Meseret Defar. And then the

:01:40. > :01:48.pacemaker from Ireland, we know that because it's on her vest. Rose

:01:48. > :01:56.Anne Galligan. They have asked for a good pace. Away we go. 15 laps in

:01:56. > :02:01.this women's 3,000. The pace is around about 248. For the first

:02:01. > :02:06.1,000 metres, representing just under 34 second laps. A real test

:02:06. > :02:11.here for the Britons. It really is. There are two races between the

:02:11. > :02:17.British athletes, trying to run fast times, as well as they can,

:02:17. > :02:26.and then three outstanding Ethiopian athletes. We are looking

:02:26. > :02:30.at second place, Rose Anne Galligan being tracked. She is the fastest

:02:30. > :02:39.woman ever over 3,000 metres indoors, the world record holder at

:02:39. > :02:42.this distance, Roxana Barca, and she has been over the last few

:02:42. > :02:50.years one of the most outstanding female distance runners in the

:02:50. > :02:58.world. Helen Clitheroe Meseret Defar. There muddles are there to

:02:58. > :03:05.prove that. -- medals. They will be difficult to trouble, in the first

:03:05. > :03:12.three positions. Helen Clitheroe is there already. She is back in 6th

:03:12. > :03:22.place, if you discount the pacemaker, still leading. There she

:03:22. > :03:25.

:03:25. > :03:33.comfortable at the moment. After a fast first 200 metres, the pace has

:03:33. > :03:42.dropped a bit. Still pretty quick. Meseret Defar, the first of the

:03:42. > :03:51.main contenders there. And just behind her is a Burka. Sticking to

:03:52. > :03:54.her task, trying to get this job going. Meseret Defar, looking to

:03:54. > :03:58.see what's going on, on the big screen as she goes down the

:03:58. > :04:08.straight. She is in the lead with two of her talented team-mates

:04:08. > :04:09.

:04:09. > :04:13.behind her. The Kenyan athlete, Helen Obiri, and then Helen

:04:13. > :04:19.Clitheroe and Gemma Steel. It will be interesting for Gemma Steel. She

:04:19. > :04:27.is at the back of the group. Let's see how she progressive --

:04:27. > :04:32.progresses. Meanwhile, Jessica Ennis goes in the long jump.

:04:32. > :04:42.Massive cheering from the crowd. Good take-off. Certainly over six

:04:42. > :04:43.

:04:43. > :04:47.metres and the current leader. The current leader is a 6.53. Karen May.

:04:47. > :04:53.It doesn't appear to trouble that. The measurement taken from the park

:04:53. > :05:00.closes to the board. So much room. Not even on the board, Jessica

:05:00. > :05:08.Ennis, on her first attempt in the long jump. 6.53, the leading mark.

:05:08. > :05:13.Of course, but scintillating personal best in the hurdles. If

:05:13. > :05:23.first-round effort. Lots more to come from death again is, I'm sure.

:05:23. > :05:23.

:05:23. > :05:29.Well, we went through the first 1,000 metres one lap ago. Rose Anne

:05:29. > :05:39.Galligan, a little outside the pace they were asking for. The class of

:05:39. > :05:41.

:05:41. > :05:51.this field, it's up to her. Less than 2000 metres to go. She has got

:05:51. > :05:51.

:05:51. > :05:55.Obiri. She also has got Ethiopian and then Meselech Melkamu. Helen

:05:55. > :06:01.Clitheroe working hard, finding herself a little bit detached will

:06:01. > :06:10.stop they are progressing at a significant pace. That single lap

:06:10. > :06:13.was the fastest lap of the race. 33.9 for the 200 metres but. She

:06:13. > :06:20.has looked me up all the time at the clock, to get the information

:06:20. > :06:30.she needs, Meseret Defar but the information she is getting is that

:06:30. > :06:34.

:06:34. > :06:37.she has three class athletes behind, running her own race here.

:06:37. > :06:45.There's certainly no let-up in the pace she is facing but still

:06:45. > :06:49.looking strong. Still looking quite bouncy but Meseret Defar is taking

:06:49. > :06:57.it out now. The last 800 metres have been downed the world record

:06:57. > :07:07.holder, Meseret Defar. She set it in it stood guard five seasons ago.

:07:07. > :07:09.

:07:09. > :07:13.That was some pace. She is still heading Obiri. Defar, she has got

:07:14. > :07:22.to think about her tactics. She is leading, followed by three class

:07:22. > :07:27.athletes. She has a fast finish herself. Former Olympic, world

:07:27. > :07:33.champion, four-times world indoor champion. The pressure of leading

:07:33. > :07:38.eventually will tell and she gets a gap. She tries to let the pace.

:07:38. > :07:43.Five minutes and 44 seconds. I'd seconds off the pace, the world

:07:43. > :07:50.record pace, which she set. Eight minutes and 30 seconds would be an

:07:50. > :07:56.outstanding time. That is the time they are heading for and you sense

:07:56. > :08:01.she is coming under pressure in 4th place now, Gelete Burka. The pace

:08:01. > :08:09.is lifting now. You can see that she is moving at fast, moving along

:08:09. > :08:14.quickly, with four laps to go in the women's 3,000 metres, Meseret

:08:14. > :08:24.Defar. She still leads. And certainly we have seen the biggest

:08:24. > :08:28.gap between first place and 5th place. Still Helen Clitheroe. Since

:08:28. > :08:34.the pacemaker dropped out after a 1,000 metres, she is beginning to

:08:34. > :08:39.stretch away again. 1,500 metres specialist. She can't live there

:08:39. > :08:47.would this incessant pace. The former Olympic champion, and 5,000

:08:47. > :08:53.metres, Meseret Defar. Less than 600 metres remaining. And now, this

:08:53. > :09:00.is the fastest lap of the race. That is why she has opened the gap

:09:00. > :09:05.and she is under pressure. Meseret Defar, showing why, for these years,

:09:05. > :09:11.she has been the outstanding female distance runner for the first and

:09:11. > :09:15.third place in the Olympic Games in the last two runnings. A first and

:09:15. > :09:18.three thirds in the World Championships, and four times

:09:18. > :09:22.unbeaten in the World Indoor Championships. But this is a class

:09:22. > :09:29.athlete in every sense. She came here to run quickly, she came here

:09:29. > :09:33.to run well. It's going to be a fast time here today. Well, the

:09:33. > :09:42.last time they went through, the finish line, there were two laps to

:09:42. > :09:49.go. About 300 metres left for Meseret Defar, who is pulling away

:09:49. > :09:55.hear from everyone. But is not finished yet. She response to the

:09:55. > :09:59.bell, and moving faster as she goes pulls up just over eight minutes

:09:59. > :10:04.with 200 metres remaining, so she has got to run a quick time here.

:10:04. > :10:12.Helen Clitheroe, by the way, is running quickly. Back in 5th place.

:10:12. > :10:18.This is a class performance by an Meseret Defar. It certainly is.

:10:18. > :10:22.Anybody inside 830, matches the all-time record. She will be just

:10:22. > :10:32.outside it, but nevertheless, a brilliant run. Absolutely superb by

:10:32. > :10:32.

:10:32. > :10:41.the Ethiopian. A South African, one, two, three. But a massive cheer now

:10:41. > :10:46.for Helen Clitheroe. Helen Clitheroe, there, just finishing.

:10:46. > :10:55.Outside 80.50. Not as fast as the past, but this was a top-class

:10:55. > :10:59.field that she was the best of them. Superb by Meseret Defar from

:10:59. > :11:04.Ethiopia. She sneaks onto the world all-time top 10 list with a

:11:04. > :11:14.performance, but, let's face it, she is the indoor champion and the

:11:14. > :11:16.

:11:16. > :11:21.fastest ever 3,000-metre runner Bleasdale. First of all, how much

:11:21. > :11:26.of a surprise as your form been to you this season? Although I did

:11:26. > :11:30.work really hard in the winter, it has been quite a surprise for the

:11:30. > :11:34.my coach expected I jumped around that but I didn't believe it but

:11:34. > :11:40.I'd jump did, and I know there is much more left I can do, so we need

:11:40. > :11:50.to get everything together and hopefully can do well in the future.

:11:50. > :11:51.

:11:51. > :11:56.Today you Anna Rogowska, you beat her. There was pressure. Oh my

:11:56. > :12:00.technique is lacking a little bit. I work really hard and today my

:12:00. > :12:03.technique was a little bit lacking. I need to get back into training

:12:03. > :12:08.and make sure everything comes together and hopefully I will jump

:12:08. > :12:14.much higher. I'm really happy to be jumping consistently. I'm going to

:12:14. > :12:19.show it to you now so you can talk us through it. Happy with the run-

:12:19. > :12:24.up? Yes, it was really, really good, but my hipster and move quite as

:12:24. > :12:32.quick, so that could be an area to improve, but I was pretty happy

:12:32. > :12:39.with that. You changed Poles. In Lyon, it was on a less stiff one,

:12:39. > :12:43.so how much of a change was it? moved up to 445, it took me about

:12:43. > :12:47.five weeks to mastered it. I mastered quickly, but it's a big

:12:47. > :12:53.change for me, so me and my coach are debating whether we should do

:12:53. > :12:56.more. It seems the best for me to do. We have been working hard. It's

:12:56. > :13:04.not going to plan just yet but hopefully more training sessions, I

:13:04. > :13:09.will be back in business. Anna Rogowska, you beat up against her

:13:09. > :13:14.in Stockholm. How does it feel to be mentioned are the same sentence

:13:14. > :13:18.as these people? The same time last year, I'd dreamed to beat her, and

:13:18. > :13:22.now I had beaten her twice. It's quite an achievement. It's done my

:13:22. > :13:25.confidence lots of good. I'm going into each competition not fearing

:13:26. > :13:30.it, thinking I have a chance of beating them, and that's what I

:13:30. > :13:36.want to do. You have timed perfectly with the Olympics around

:13:36. > :13:39.the corner. Yes, but obviously a massive bonus. It's good to come

:13:39. > :13:44.into form in the year of the Olympics. I'm only young but to

:13:44. > :13:48.compete in the Olympics is my dream. To come into form now is a dream

:13:48. > :13:52.come true but I hope back into the nation proud. You have done

:13:52. > :14:02.brilliantly well today. Good luck for the future. Next up on track,

:14:02. > :14:05.

:14:05. > :14:10.the men's 5,000 metres also a real much fun when I come to Great

:14:10. > :14:15.Britain. For the race, this weekend, I'm looking forward to running fast.

:14:15. > :14:18.I was telling my friends and my coach, I have not run well in the

:14:18. > :14:23.1,500 metres in the past three years, so I want to see if I can do

:14:23. > :14:28.something good. The guys and racing against are really good. So if I

:14:28. > :14:35.can use them to help me out, to run faster, it will be really good, so

:14:35. > :14:40.my aim, to be honest with you, if I could get through and and 33, that

:14:40. > :14:46.would be good. The good thing with the British people, everybody was

:14:47. > :14:56.coming to the races, we understand what track and field is about. The

:14:57. > :15:01.

:15:01. > :15:04.fans have been great and they give he is 37 and he heads up what looks

:15:05. > :15:14.like a very high quality area, one of the best races we have this

:15:15. > :15:17.

:15:17. > :15:27.afternoon. Let us clear up the result. That was a class act. That

:15:27. > :15:42.

:15:42. > :15:51.is this season's best. And that African 1, 2, 3. He along chum,

:15:51. > :15:59.Shara Proctor. The UK indoor champion. She was threatening the

:15:59. > :16:09.long-standing British record. 6.70. That is a leading mark in the first

:16:09. > :16:15.

:16:15. > :16:20.round. She appears to be comfortably in front. Landed well

:16:20. > :16:26.on the board and she was putting a good series of chums together this

:16:26. > :16:36.season, and that is bowling well. She will go through with automatic

:16:36. > :16:37.

:16:37. > :16:46.qualification to Istanbul, having passed that standard. Takes the

:16:46. > :16:53.lead Jessica Ennis, round two. The red flag. Beyond six metres. That

:16:53. > :17:02.is her season's best. She has a lifetime best in the heptathlon

:17:02. > :17:08.long jump. She got that winning the world indoor title two years ago.

:17:08. > :17:13.She would love to defend that crown next month in Istanbul. Contrasting

:17:13. > :17:18.to her first-round Evered, perfect on the board. Round number two.

:17:18. > :17:25.That will be a clear improvement, what damage will that do to the

:17:25. > :17:33.leader board? 6.22. That is the new season's best and that misery into

:17:33. > :17:42.5th place. So, the men's high jump. He was a little bit shaky from that

:17:42. > :17:48.opening height. This man rocketed to the top on a high jump rankings,

:17:48. > :17:58.clearing that 2.34, the third all- time British list. No problem,

:17:58. > :18:00.

:18:00. > :18:07.whatsoever. B1 macro. Robbie Grabarz. The men are out for the

:18:07. > :18:17.1500 metres, that is a great field. Lewis Moses, the UK champion.

:18:17. > :18:17.

:18:17. > :18:27.Trying to get that spot in Istanbul, so his Andrew Baddeley. Bernard

:18:27. > :18:37.Lagat. Perhaps the most famous name. Meseret Defar, the pacemaker. They

:18:37. > :18:41.

:18:41. > :18:47.have asked for a very quick pace. Lewis Moses, already going to

:18:47. > :18:54.Istanbul, he won the trials inside the qualifying. James Brewer will

:18:54. > :19:01.really have to beat Andrew Baddeley. He ran a very good 5000 metres.

:19:01. > :19:11.13.22. Then, Nixon Chepseba. He started the season with a very good

:19:11. > :19:21.season. -- very good race. The second half of this season... This

:19:21. > :19:27.

:19:27. > :19:34.is f2 macro. -- Bethwel Birgen. And of course, Augustine Choge, was

:19:34. > :19:43.beaten by Mo Farah in Glasgow but he had a very high-quality 3000

:19:43. > :19:53.metres and he tops the world rankings. Augustine Choge, the

:19:53. > :19:53.

:19:53. > :19:59.former Commonwealth champion at 5000 metres. Andrew Baddeley, James

:19:59. > :20:02.Brewer, Lewis Moses. Heading up the British contingent year. It will be

:20:02. > :20:11.interesting to see if the British athletes want to go with his very

:20:11. > :20:16.fast pace. They had been asked to go through 800 in 1.53. For indoor

:20:17. > :20:25.running, that is very fast indeed. That is pushing for the American

:20:25. > :20:30.indoor record. The question is, do we go with that? That is the

:20:30. > :20:35.dilemma. This is a classic field with outstanding athletes.

:20:35. > :20:45.Augustine Choge, following the pacemaker. And behind him, Bernard

:20:45. > :20:46.

:20:46. > :20:48.Lagat. And at the age of 37, he really is showing older long-

:20:48. > :20:53.distance runners how to keep going because he is still running

:20:53. > :20:57.extremely well. His American record last week proves that. Just behind

:20:57. > :21:03.him, the other Kenyan athlete and then the British athletes have just

:21:03. > :21:08.released their pace, working together. The first lap, 56.4, the

:21:08. > :21:11.pace is quick. That is what was asked for. One or two others just

:21:11. > :21:16.sitting back but it this setback too much they will lose out early

:21:16. > :21:20.advantage. Augustine Choge finds himself not quite sure what to do.

:21:20. > :21:28.He is watching the pacemaker. But he does not want to be in that

:21:28. > :21:34.position. Nixon Chepseba starts to put the pressure on. Let's go and

:21:34. > :21:41.chase this. Bethwel Birgen, he can front runner but he is happy to sit

:21:41. > :21:45.behind. Then it is Bernard Lagat. And then the British athletes,

:21:45. > :21:49.Andrew Baddeley, Bethwel Birgen and Lewis Moses. Moving gently through

:21:49. > :21:54.on that solid pace. He is running economically, he has put himself

:21:54. > :22:01.into a good place. James Prior is tracking him. That is the wise

:22:01. > :22:06.thing to do. Andrew Baddeley looks strong. He is in good shape. I

:22:06. > :22:15.wonder if he can trains laid this back to his favourite distance. --

:22:15. > :22:19.translate. Bernard like that, the sprint specialists sitting back but

:22:19. > :22:26.the Ethiopian third place. And that is good running from the British

:22:26. > :22:30.athletes, the pace is good. If they can just keep it going they will be

:22:30. > :22:34.rewarded with quick times. Just starting to stretch, some gaps

:22:34. > :22:38.beginning to appear and Bernard like that is aware of that and he

:22:38. > :22:48.was to push close to the front three. The athletes I have to sort

:22:48. > :22:49.

:22:49. > :22:53.themselves out. But like that needs to play closer. -- Bernard Lagat.

:22:53. > :22:58.If that was the case, that would be an exceptional position for him to

:22:58. > :23:04.run in. Today, he has run good tactics. Bernard Lagat looks like

:23:04. > :23:14.he is struggling at the back. 200 metres to go. Bethwel Birgen kicks

:23:14. > :23:14.

:23:14. > :23:18.first. He has decided to sit behind Nixon Chepseba. They're pulling

:23:18. > :23:25.away, her black at the with not much to offer. Bethwel Birgen,

:23:25. > :23:35.Nixon Chepseba, they come round the top end with 40 metres. Bethwel

:23:35. > :23:37.

:23:37. > :23:42.Birgen leads. It is Nixon Chepseba who wins. Andrew Baddeley will be

:23:42. > :23:46.rewarded with a pretty quick time, there. It may well be inside his

:23:46. > :23:50.personal best. That stands at 3.39 indoors. That was a good

:23:50. > :23:59.performance from him. There he is, Andrew Baddeley. He has been in

:23:59. > :24:05.good shape. That will give him a lot of confidence and he could be

:24:05. > :24:11.joining Lewis Moses. That was a good solid performance.

:24:11. > :24:14.positioned himself well and ran sobbing. But that was a solid

:24:14. > :24:18.performance from Nixon Chepseba, who won several of the Diamond

:24:18. > :24:23.League meetings last year. He was one of the people you would have

:24:23. > :24:27.danger with. Then he failed to make the Kenyan team and the World

:24:27. > :24:33.Championships but there goes the Kenyan, passing Nixon Chepseba.

:24:33. > :24:38.Bethwel Birgen battling, trying to win from 200 metres out. Nixon

:24:38. > :24:43.Chepseba just ready, moving nicely. On the outside, giving himself

:24:43. > :24:48.every chance on a bend. Just holding it. He is coming from a

:24:48. > :24:56.long way back but he is closing the gap and then Nixon Chepseba opens

:24:56. > :25:00.up, relaxes and powers through to the finishing line. That was an

:25:00. > :25:05.impressive performance from the Kenyan and they have so many class

:25:05. > :25:10.athletes, you never know who is going to win it. And Bethwel Birgen,

:25:10. > :25:18.eyeballs out, nothing left. Nixon Chepseba in the Orangefest,

:25:18. > :25:23.striding. He could have positioned himself better because he was

:25:23. > :25:26.finishing fastest of all. That was a good performance from Nixon

:25:26. > :25:35.Chepseba, and he is an athlete we have to watch for the rest of the

:25:35. > :25:43.year. The bar is set at 2.29 in the high jump. Just two athletes remain.

:25:43. > :25:48.Adding up for the first attempt. He was shaky at 2.20. And he continues

:25:48. > :25:52.in that of the end and he likes it. Robbie Grabarz. Continuing that

:25:52. > :25:57.impressive show that he has had this year. He was disappointed with

:25:57. > :26:02.the hype that he cleared in the UK indoors last week. But now he is

:26:02. > :26:06.continuing onwards and upwards. 2.29 at the first attempt. When he

:26:06. > :26:13.gets it right, you can see the day that Betty puts between himself and

:26:13. > :26:21.the bar. Fantastic. Plenty more to come from Robbie Grabarz, who is

:26:21. > :26:26.leading at the moment. That was a very quiet holiday 1500 metres.

:26:26. > :26:34.That was a season's best for the winner. And look at those personal

:26:34. > :26:40.bests. Andrew Baddeley, and indeed James Brewer and even Lewis Moses

:26:40. > :26:46.in 8th place with a personal best. Andrew Baddeley will have the

:26:46. > :26:51.choice, if he wants the world indoors, 3000 or 1500? Let's ask

:26:51. > :27:00.him, they're asking about the choices. 1500 or 3000? What are

:27:00. > :27:05.your thoughts? I wanted to come out and have a solid season and it has

:27:05. > :27:09.got a lot better than I hoped. To have the choices nice but I will

:27:09. > :27:19.gracefully declined. As for the performances you have been able to

:27:19. > :27:20.

:27:20. > :27:28.put in, you have to project forward to the outdoor season? He did not

:27:28. > :27:37.feel like it, I felt the first 1800, then all of a sudden, I felt people

:27:37. > :27:46.coming back to make and I just had that sharpness. I think I could

:27:46. > :27:52.have pushed on earlier. On the last lap I had a lot left. It just felt

:27:52. > :27:59.so quick. Thanks for putting this into perspective. We wish you well

:27:59. > :28:09.for the outdoor season. The key, nice to talk to you. We will look

:28:09. > :28:10.

:28:10. > :28:15.forward to the women's 400 metres, featuring Shana Cox. I am excited,

:28:15. > :28:21.I completed a few weeks ago here in the indoor games so it is kind of

:28:21. > :28:30.familiar. But I was told the prize would be massive, there is a big

:28:30. > :28:34.crowd and I am very excited. Since the European indoors it has been a

:28:34. > :28:39.roller-coaster with injuries and stuff. I am pretty pleased at the

:28:39. > :28:42.moment. The training has been going well. I feel like I'm the best

:28:42. > :28:52.shape I have been in for a few years. Hopefully it will start

:28:52. > :28:53.

:28:53. > :29:00.chewing on the track. The 400 metres has got a huge presence in

:29:00. > :29:04.Britain. And in the world. You have a lot of great athletes running in

:29:04. > :29:07.the 400 metres this year and last year. And years to come. You always

:29:07. > :29:16.have to be ready and that is a good thing because it pushes everybody

:29:16. > :29:22.to be better. And that is Shana Cox, in lane number five, and just

:29:22. > :29:30.outside will be Nicola Sanders, the British record holder. That is

:29:30. > :29:38.coming up in a moment. On the long- jump runway. Shara Proctor with

:29:38. > :29:43.that first-round effort. The former representative of Andy Low. She was

:29:43. > :29:50.16th in the world championships in 2009. She has been really going

:29:50. > :29:54.well this winter. 6.68. Taking the world indoor title last week and

:29:54. > :29:59.that is long so she does extend her lead. Just waiting for the

:29:59. > :30:06.confirmation of the white flag and we get it. That looks like her lead

:30:06. > :30:13.will be extended. From six pts 63. Around that type of distance.

:30:13. > :30:20.Looked good on the board. And she transferred from one dealer to be

:30:20. > :30:27.able to represent Great Britain at this year's Olympics. They had been

:30:27. > :30:34.a British dependent territory. And she likes the distance. That is the

:30:34. > :30:42.new national record! 6.71! She has topped the British all-time list

:30:42. > :30:52.indoors. Consigning the long- standing record held by Joe one

:30:52. > :30:56.

:30:56. > :31:06.wise and Sue had shot into second clearance after but rocky start.

:31:06. > :31:13.Now attempting to metres 32, the second best jump of all time.

:31:13. > :31:20.Robbie Grabarz, establishing himself as a real threat on the

:31:20. > :31:29.world high jump soon. Took the lead earlier on. That lead has been

:31:29. > :31:33.surpassed by two Russians. But Robbie Grabarz, in commanding form

:31:34. > :31:43.in high jump. The athletes have been waiting patiently for this 400

:31:44. > :31:55.

:31:55. > :32:05.Williams, twice US champion at the 400 metres hurdles. She has a bad

:32:05. > :32:06.

:32:06. > :32:16.lane here though, lane at one. Outside of her visit team mate, --

:32:16. > :32:17.

:32:17. > :32:22.outside of her is her team-mate, Jasmine Chaney. Next to her, Nadine

:32:22. > :32:28.Okyere, she finished second in the UK Championships recently with a

:32:29. > :32:38.lifetime best performance. The Czech Republic European indoor

:32:38. > :32:48.champion. Denisa Rosolova Hasn't run terribly well so far this year.

:32:48. > :32:52.

:32:52. > :32:56.A 52.76. 52, 38, Shana Cox, 10th in the world. Interesting to hear what

:32:56. > :33:06.Nicholas and has had to say in her interview. She said she was in good

:33:06. > :33:11.

:33:11. > :33:18.shape. She will need to be here. -- strong contender just inside her,

:33:18. > :33:28.Shana Cox, who has already been selected to go to Istanbul for the

:33:28. > :33:34.

:33:34. > :33:42.championships. Can any one of the run in the lane and then they break

:33:42. > :33:51.for the outside. Two laps of the track. Shana Cox away, safely. In

:33:51. > :33:57.lane two, the USA gaining ground already. Jasmine Chaney, she knows

:33:57. > :34:03.this track well. At the moment, she is chasing down everybody. Nicola

:34:03. > :34:11.Sanders trying to get alongside of. Shana Cox goes into the lead with a

:34:11. > :34:21.one lap to go. And then the European indoor champion, Rosolova.

:34:21. > :34:22.

:34:22. > :34:32.Great Britain in first and second place. She has fallen! Rosolova,

:34:32. > :34:39.she just sailed past her. Shana Cox is going to win it. In second,

:34:39. > :34:46.Rosolova. And in third place, Nadine Okyere, who came on strongly

:34:46. > :34:52.towards the finish. This was Tiffany Williams from the USA. She

:34:52. > :35:00.has not run up too many indoor races. But Shana Cox, the winner. A

:35:00. > :35:05.season best for her, and she moves up the world rankings. This is

:35:05. > :35:11.interesting. Shana Cox controlling it, as you would expect. I was

:35:11. > :35:17.watching Nicola Sanders last week, and she runs a good 300 metres.

:35:17. > :35:22.Williams goes down there. This bit of the race, she is struggling with.

:35:22. > :35:28.She has nothing to offer in the last 50 metres. Shana Cox manages

:35:28. > :35:34.to stretch it out. Nicola Sanders, look how badly she fades away there.

:35:34. > :35:39.It's not a super-fast time. Just outside her personal best. It's the

:35:39. > :35:42.quickest she has won indoors as a British athlete. It will move first

:35:42. > :35:48.slightly further up the all-time list, but she looks nice and

:35:48. > :35:51.relaxed, doesn't she? They have been some fast times this year, but

:35:51. > :36:01.you get the feeling Shana Cox as more to offer than we have seen

:36:01. > :36:05.today. She is getting her breath back. What a fine performance. This

:36:05. > :36:10.is the kind of preparation you wanted, heading towards Istanbul?

:36:10. > :36:16.Yes, absolutely. I want to come here. I'm really happy with the

:36:16. > :36:20.outcome. It another thing achieving your dream on the track. A big

:36:20. > :36:24.pressure today in front of the home crowd. Yes, a lot of people here, a

:36:24. > :36:30.lot of pressure, but you have to be extremely focused on the track and

:36:30. > :36:36.have a go. You seemed so calm and in control. It's all about what you

:36:36. > :36:41.do in training. If you train away, hopefully you will perform away.

:36:41. > :36:50.Congratulations. We will bring in if Nicola. How would you assess

:36:50. > :36:56.that? Being in lane six, I just had to get out and if I didn't get the

:36:56. > :37:01.win, I wanted to make it hard for them, which I think I did. You have

:37:01. > :37:07.to run at this way indoors and I ran out of steam at the end for the

:37:07. > :37:13.Nadine it be before a second time in two weeks. -- Nadine beat me for

:37:13. > :37:20.a second time in two weeks. would you assess how your at this

:37:20. > :37:25.point? What will you be working on in particular? My speed endurance.

:37:25. > :37:35.I'm looking to do some speed work now. Over a longer distance. We

:37:35. > :38:01.

:38:01. > :38:09.will work, leading up to the afternoon. Hannah England in the

:38:09. > :38:19.women's 1,500 metres and then the Olympic champion Robles against

:38:19. > :38:29.Jang. And then, the Jamaican, Asafa Powell, and then I know from our

:38:29. > :38:37.

:38:37. > :38:44.rounds of the afternoon. -- no for set a season's best. And that was

:38:44. > :38:48.longer! A considerable improvement for Jessica Ennis, rather than

:38:48. > :38:55.chasing the outright lead, perhaps competing against herself. Looking

:38:55. > :39:05.to get close to her personal best figures, 6.44, she set in Doha.

:39:05. > :39:20.

:39:20. > :39:30.That was two years ago. Good on the herself. A new lifetime best for

:39:30. > :39:37.

:39:37. > :39:43.Jessica Ennis. So, is second attempt at 2.39, Robbie Grabarz,

:39:43. > :39:50.and a new attempt at a British record. No, not to be. One attempt

:39:50. > :39:57.at the British record, held at, of course, by a Steve Smith, to come

:39:57. > :40:07.for Robbie Grabarz. The women's 1,500 metres next and a small but

:40:07. > :40:41.

:40:41. > :40:49.something to help it to run under four minutes. The youngest sister.

:40:49. > :40:56.Let's go back to the high jump. The new British record, 2.39. The

:40:57. > :41:05.competition is already in the bag. So close! Once again, so high over

:41:05. > :41:15.the bar and he just kept it, but sheer delight for Robbie Grabarz.

:41:15. > :41:18.

:41:18. > :41:21.2.32. That young man in good form there. We are expecting from Dibaba

:41:21. > :41:31.something very quick indeed. Anything under four minutes would

:41:31. > :41:37.

:41:37. > :41:44.week and looked very good, 4.17. She was hoping to get a chance to

:41:45. > :41:48.come and run inside 4.14 today. The question is, Hannah England, world

:41:48. > :41:58.silver-medallist is up against the number one in the world indoors

:41:58. > :42:06.

:42:06. > :42:10.this year. She is a huge talent, this young lady, Genzebe Dibaba.

:42:10. > :42:20.Michalak, she has been asked to go through at a pace close to the

:42:20. > :42:43.

:42:43. > :42:47.disqualified for breaking, because they started on two different lanes,

:42:47. > :42:52.she got disqualified and I think maybe she thought it was in her

:42:52. > :42:56.head there, as she ran through that first 100 metres. She has slotted

:42:56. > :43:00.in behind the pacemaker and the first question is, would Hannah

:43:00. > :43:06.England go with this pace? She has decided to run with the rest of the

:43:06. > :43:11.group, so it will be the clock against Dibaba and then a race for

:43:11. > :43:16.second. She has decided for the pacemaker to be setting this pace,

:43:16. > :43:20.32 seconds for each lap and the interesting thing was, I was just

:43:20. > :43:24.thinking, I wonder if Hannah England would go at that place?

:43:24. > :43:32.There she is. The world silver- medallist leading the chasing group.

:43:32. > :43:35.Quite a long way behind the attacking and aggressive running of

:43:35. > :43:41.Dibaba from Ethiopia. Let's see if she can run as quickly as she said

:43:41. > :43:46.she could. 64 seconds. That is close to that four-minute pace. In

:43:46. > :43:51.the women's 1,500 metres. Only four women have ever run that. I wonder

:43:51. > :43:56.if we will see another one today? She had a go at this in Germany

:43:56. > :44:03.last week and she is almost spot on the pace. On the second 400, if you

:44:03. > :44:06.like, they slowed to a 66.9, and then she had to do a lot of work. I

:44:06. > :44:12.have a feeling she will end up doing this pair, because I'm not

:44:12. > :44:15.sure she will be able to keep going for long enough. You end up with a

:44:15. > :44:20.67 up for your second lap, and that's not what you want. Nice and

:44:20. > :44:24.steady, and she will have to do some work for the already, she is

:44:24. > :44:30.slowing down, and she will be itching to go past. She looks like

:44:30. > :44:33.she's jogging behind the pacemaker. She is not sticking to her task.

:44:33. > :44:38.The world junior cross-country champion, the world junior 5,000-

:44:38. > :44:48.metre champion, moves up to the senior ranks, and finished 8th in

:44:48. > :44:48.

:44:48. > :44:52.the senior ranks, in the 2009 and 2011, Dibaba, and she has lost a

:44:52. > :44:57.bit of time there. She was not as good as this a step, the Olympic

:44:57. > :45:01.champion, at the 5,000 metres. She looks very comfortable at this pace.

:45:01. > :45:06.She looks as though she is running easily and I bet this lap is faster

:45:06. > :45:16.than the one before. It's almost a carbon copy of a race last week.

:45:16. > :45:18.

:45:18. > :45:22.800 would in a few hundred two laters. She is doing it here again.

:45:22. > :45:27.Doesn't she look relaxed? A lovely looking runner. Surely she will be

:45:27. > :45:33.a big threat in the summer. Just lovely action for the it looks at

:45:33. > :45:43.but does, doesn't it? Moving along at a super-fast pace. Only four

:45:43. > :45:45.

:45:45. > :45:50.women have ever done this pace. Championships silver medallist,

:45:50. > :45:55.Hannah England. Running strongly. Pulling away from the group into

:45:55. > :46:03.second place and when she looks ahead, at the other bent, she will

:46:03. > :46:12.see young Genzebe Dibaba sprinting and running. The last lap of the

:46:12. > :46:20.women's 1500 metres and Genzebe Dibaba is running brilliantly this

:46:20. > :46:25.would be a phenomenal last lap. Hannah England ahead of Anna Pierce.

:46:25. > :46:34.And almost one straight behind this young lady, Genzebe Dibaba. This

:46:34. > :46:41.has been a gallant stretch. This will be close. It will be another

:46:41. > :46:51.few seconds before Hannah England crosses the line. Anna Pierce takes

:46:51. > :46:59.third place ahead of Sandra Michalak. -- Wioletta Frankiewicz.

:46:59. > :47:05.But that was a demonstration from Genzebe Dibaba. Not quite as quick

:47:05. > :47:10.as last week but with a bit of help and a top quality race, better

:47:10. > :47:15.pacemaking, she must be capable of faster? She looks like she could

:47:16. > :47:19.have run under four minutes today and that middle lap, 66 seconds,

:47:19. > :47:25.that was just far too slow and you could tell at that point that she

:47:25. > :47:29.was just waiting. Hannah England, you must wonder. Silver medallist

:47:29. > :47:33.in the World Championships I'm looking forward to the Olympics. We

:47:33. > :47:36.really think she has a chance of the metal and then she comes onto

:47:36. > :47:40.the track and sees an athlete on the calendar of Genzebe Dibaba

:47:40. > :47:46.running miles ahead of Fir, I just wonder what that does to her

:47:46. > :47:50.confidence. The confidence of the silver medal was fantastic. But

:47:50. > :47:58.then Genzebe Dibaba shows you that there is a difference with this

:47:58. > :48:03.kind of distance. I wonder what she is thinking? Hannah England has

:48:03. > :48:08.joined me. It was clear that she will not going to run with that

:48:08. > :48:15.kind of pace. It was a different goal? I wanted to remain within

:48:15. > :48:18.striking distance and it was very fast at any time of year but I was

:48:18. > :48:25.trying to keep in contact but there was pressure from the girls behind

:48:25. > :48:31.me. I'm really pleased with that. You are not targeting the World

:48:31. > :48:36.Indoor Championship, this is about the summer? Definitely, this is a

:48:36. > :48:41.time trial on my own to know that I can run that fast and concentrate.

:48:41. > :48:49.It is great to see you. All the very best. Thank you. It's

:48:49. > :48:53.wonderful to be here. Thank you. Some big races still to come. Asafa

:48:53. > :49:01.Powell in the men's 60 metres and then Mo Farah goes home with two

:49:01. > :49:10.miles to round things off. Before that, then men's 60 metres hurdles.

:49:10. > :49:20.This is the much anticipated race. What will happen this time? Paul

:49:20. > :49:24.

:49:24. > :49:29.Dickenson describes it. The good news... They will not clash this

:49:30. > :49:35.time. That is the women sitting hundred metres result? Just to

:49:35. > :49:41.clear that up, that was a stadium record. That is a long way ahead of

:49:41. > :49:47.Hannah England. She wanted to have a think about that. But look

:49:47. > :49:55.further down, very bad luck for Clare Gibson. Although she ran a

:49:55. > :50:02.personal best, she is outside the time needed for the World indoors.

:50:02. > :50:10.On five of the women's long jump. Formerly from South Africa, now

:50:10. > :50:20.representing Turkey. Karin Mey. That was close to the seven metres

:50:20. > :50:21.

:50:21. > :50:30.mark. Shara Proctor, the leading mark still, and that is 6.71. That

:50:30. > :50:36.was a new national record. This will be close to that. Good on to

:50:36. > :50:46.the board. Just the second competition 4 Q 5 this year. This

:50:46. > :50:49.

:50:49. > :50:59.will be a season's best. -- for Karin Mey. This is indeed for a

:50:59. > :51:06.

:51:07. > :51:16.season's best. 6.66, still in second place and improving. Here we

:51:17. > :51:24.

:51:24. > :51:34.go, one of the big head-to-heads, then men's 60 metres hurdles final.

:51:34. > :51:45.

:51:45. > :51:55.Kevin Craddock on the outside. This is the first man. Dexter Faulk. 19

:51:55. > :52:01.years old, Andrew Pozzi. Coming along very nicely in this class.

:52:01. > :52:08.And the world record holder. Disqualified in the World

:52:08. > :52:12.Championship for that clash with the man and the number five. Aries

:52:13. > :52:20.Merritt is no slouch. One of the fastest in the world consistently.

:52:20. > :52:24.Former American champion. Liu Xiang. This young man has taken the

:52:24. > :52:34.Olympic title in the past. World indoor champion. Absolutely

:52:34. > :52:42.brilliant in the heats. Jeff Porter. From the USA. In the top 10 this

:52:42. > :52:46.year in the world. He ran well in the semi-final to get to the stage.

:52:47. > :52:49.And young Lawrence Clarke. He has had an up and down season.

:52:49. > :52:54.Disqualified in the UK Championships. And he got that

:52:54. > :53:00.lifetime best in the semi-finals here in Birmingham. And Kevin

:53:00. > :53:07.Craddock. Another American, LEA No. 8. He has ran close to 7.5 seconds

:53:07. > :53:11.this season so watch out. Everybody will be watching the men on the

:53:12. > :53:20.left hand side and the right-hand side of the screen. Liu Xiang.

:53:20. > :53:25.Dayron Robles. They have dominated in recent years. The former and the

:53:25. > :53:35.current world record holders. The world record indoors, of course,

:53:35. > :53:37.

:53:37. > :53:47.still stands with birthday boy, Colin Jackson. 7.530. Surely this

:53:47. > :54:03.

:54:03. > :54:08.is going to be quicker from the And he wins it. 7.42. That is

:54:08. > :54:14.outside the world top 10 times ever. But certainly means that he is in

:54:14. > :54:23.tremendous form. Had he increases the head-to-head score against

:54:23. > :54:30.Dayron Robles. Before this event, he had seven against the five from

:54:30. > :54:36.Dayron Robles. He increases that I'm looking good for 2012. He

:54:36. > :54:43.looked very comfortable indeed. It looked easy? You know, it's never

:54:44. > :54:49.easy, I can issue. Liu Xiang is aggressive at the start, he pushes

:54:50. > :54:54.himself out. Everybody knew that he was going to be the one to watch.

:54:54. > :54:58.Very explosive. Everybody is chasing this man. They know that he

:54:59. > :55:04.is flawless, he very rarely makes mistakes so it is difficult to get

:55:04. > :55:10.back once he strikes. But that was a very encouraging run from Dayron

:55:10. > :55:16.Robles. Second place, looking very strong again. But Liu Xiang is the

:55:16. > :55:21.man to watch in this indoor season. That was a very solid, technical

:55:21. > :55:25.athlete. He never panics under any stress whatsoever. He keeps his

:55:25. > :55:35.mind on his job and look at that, takes a nice victory over his major

:55:35. > :55:36.

:55:36. > :55:43.rival. The three contenders building up this race. Dayron

:55:43. > :55:52.Robles. On the right hand. He is a beautiful runner when he gets going.

:55:52. > :56:02.All the way over. Clean all the way. He takes victory, what a good

:56:02. > :56:05.

:56:05. > :56:12.performance? He knows he has done well. That is a world leading time.

:56:12. > :56:19.So, the result of the high jump. Robbie Grabarz takes victory. His

:56:19. > :56:29.second best jump ever. Turning the tables on Samson Oni. Getting some

:56:29. > :56:30.

:56:30. > :56:33.consistency. Let's hear from him. Another tremendous performance in

:56:34. > :56:38.what is turning out to be a great season for you. Under really

:56:39. > :56:43.fantastic attend at the British record? Yes, I am very happy.

:56:43. > :56:51.That's about it. I just relaxed and enjoyed myself. In Glasgow you put

:56:51. > :56:57.in a lot of hard work and over the winter. What has made this click?

:56:57. > :57:03.It is the lifestyle. That is what the change is. The mental lifestyle

:57:03. > :57:08.change. That has been a real difference. You have always known

:57:08. > :57:13.you have had the talent, now you are delivering and your confidence

:57:13. > :57:18.must be sky high? I have never made it down and I decided this year was

:57:18. > :57:28.a good chance to try. Well done, keep it going all the way to the

:57:28. > :57:28.

:57:28. > :58:21.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 42 seconds

:58:21. > :58:27.Jessica Ennis has joined us. That was a great afternoon. Starting

:58:27. > :58:32.with the hurdles and you must be delighted? I was honestly shocked.

:58:32. > :58:37.But training has been going well. Working on my block starts. Yes, to

:58:37. > :58:42.come here and run that time in front of the scribe was brilliant.

:58:42. > :58:47.Colin wants you to concentrate on hurdles! I am shocked. I cannot

:58:47. > :58:52.believe it. It is a great position to be in but my sole focus is the

:58:52. > :59:02.pentathlon. If I can run that time in the pentathlon, that would be

:59:02. > :59:02.

:59:03. > :59:07.great. The women's long jump, Shara Proctor has jumped even further.

:59:07. > :59:10.The final round of the women's long jump. Shara Proctor already

:59:10. > :59:18.extending the British record I'm going even further in the final

:59:18. > :59:25.round. 6.80. Extending the new British record that she holds an

:59:25. > :59:30.that moves were up to 5th on the world list for this year. She goes

:59:30. > :59:37.into Istanbul with tremendous confidence. Two British records, in

:59:37. > :59:44.one afternoon. Fantastic day's work for Shara Proctor. Brilliant

:59:44. > :59:49.performance. And that was a decent long jump on you? Not a bad day.

:59:49. > :59:54.The long jump I struggle with. That was a soldier on, I just did

:59:54. > :59:59.confidence. We were nervous when you started off with 5.91! It's not

:59:59. > :00:03.a good way to start. This is my last competition before the World

:00:03. > :00:09.Championships. That was a world- leading time. Let's look at the

:00:09. > :00:14.hurdles. Talk us through this. And you beat the silver medallist from

:00:14. > :00:21.Daegu? It was incredible to run against her, she is great at the

:00:21. > :00:27.hurdles. I had a great start. I feel like an attacking the hurdles.

:00:27. > :00:32.And then I just literally threw myself across the line. I am made

:00:32. > :00:41.up with that performance. focused on the start? Was that what

:00:41. > :00:44.happened and Daegu? Not a good something we have been working on

:00:44. > :00:49.for a while. It's always been a problem for me, slow out of the

:00:49. > :00:52.blocks, you can't afford to have a slow start in a 60 metre hurdle

:00:52. > :00:55.race. We thought that was the best to concentrate on. It's obviously

:00:55. > :00:59.made a massive difference. What's this winter been like for you? You

:00:59. > :01:05.have gone into it, not as world champion, you lost the title, has

:01:05. > :01:10.that been an extra steel within your sole? It definitely has, I was

:01:10. > :01:14.determined and focused going into this year with the Olympics but to

:01:14. > :01:20.have that disappointment last year behind me and I am using it to push

:01:20. > :01:29.forward. It's definitely spurring me on. Before 2012 you have

:01:29. > :01:36.Istanbul. You are going to have Chenova there. How important to

:01:37. > :01:44.retain your title? Confidence-wise it will be great to go out there

:01:44. > :01:50.and perform and win there,. The girls out in Europe are posing

:01:50. > :01:54.great scores and in great shape, so it's going to be a battle but I am

:01:54. > :02:02.in great shape and looking forward to it. Another target for new May?

:02:02. > :02:05.May that will be my first heptathlon. It's a great

:02:05. > :02:10.opportunity to see where I am amongst those girls. How would you

:02:10. > :02:13.rate what Jess has done this afternoon. The long jump was a key

:02:13. > :02:17.event for you, and I think she handled it really well. I would

:02:17. > :02:21.like to see is that kind of distances coming earlier rounds and

:02:21. > :02:27.not having any pressure going on because you only have three jumps,

:02:27. > :02:31.so Jess knows, she knows what she has to do. Do you always do it

:02:31. > :02:36.early? Try to. It's not easy but that's what you are striving for

:02:36. > :02:40.and Jess knows that. To get a solid jump on the firs one is really key

:02:40. > :02:44.mentally to the set-up of your long jump competition. A great

:02:44. > :02:49.afternoon's action for you, and particularly well done on the

:02:49. > :02:53.hurdles. You will enjoy the next race, the men's 60 metres, Asafa

:02:53. > :03:03.Powell and the rest of the Jamaicans.

:03:03. > :03:13.

:03:13. > :03:23.There it is, four Jamaicans in would be a contender, it's not

:03:23. > :03:23.

:03:23. > :03:30.really his area this. Wilks, finished fourth in his heat,

:03:30. > :03:34.got through as fastest loser. Then we come to the big names, if

:03:34. > :03:40.you like. Collins, ran a season's best actually, great to see him

:03:40. > :03:44.running so well. He won't thank us if we keep mentioning he is one of

:03:44. > :03:47.the veterans, if you like, but he is still still very popular. Not up

:03:47. > :03:55.to the speed at the moment of Asafa Powell. The next three lanes are

:03:55. > :04:01.the three quickest men in the world over 60 metres this year. Powell,

:04:01. > :04:10.6.50, a new personal best. Surely he can go quicker.

:04:10. > :04:15.Next to him Nesta Carter, ran 6.51, not to be outdone by Powell.

:04:15. > :04:20.Teammates, but rivals, as well. We talked about Blake and Bolt and

:04:20. > :04:27.then there are, well at least three others, including this one, the

:04:27. > :04:33.Commonwealth champion, Lerone Clarke. He ran 6.52 in his heat.

:04:33. > :04:43.200ths of a second separating those three men. The American Trell

:04:43. > :04:44.

:04:44. > :04:53.Kimmons, he himself has run 6.53 this year.

:04:53. > :04:57.Then Antoine Adams in lane eight. The stadium record actually stands

:04:57. > :05:03.at 6.46. I think that's the sort of time I would really like to see

:05:03. > :05:07.Powell getting down to. World record, of course, that's that's

:05:08. > :05:11.6.39 by Maurice Green by Powell outdoors when he is he is going

:05:11. > :05:14.really starts so well, I think it's a surprise to everybody that we

:05:14. > :05:24.haven't - Colin was mentioning, haven't seen him run more indoor

:05:24. > :05:34.events. A real surprise he hasn't yet run under 6.5. The men's 60

:05:34. > :05:38.

:05:38. > :05:48.final. But also going well is Carter. And

:05:48. > :05:54.so is Clarke. Clarke gets it! 6.47. Quick time for you, but not for

:05:54. > :05:57.Powell, it's this man Lerone Clarke stole the win ahead of his

:05:57. > :06:01.teammates and the one, two, three got switched around, if you like.

:06:01. > :06:08.It should have been this man, I think he is going to have to settle

:06:08. > :06:11.for third perhaps. No doubt about our winner, a new personal best for

:06:11. > :06:19.Lerone Clarke. It was Clarke who finished the quickest, the

:06:19. > :06:26.strongest. It was all about the Jamaicans undoubtedly, but the

:06:26. > :06:33.surprise winner, maybe not to him, but I am sure to lots of people.

:06:34. > :06:37.Once again, Powell can't quite deliver. Colin, he didn't get out

:06:37. > :06:43.badly, Powell, but didn't get moving quickly enough and left it

:06:43. > :06:51.to Carter and Clarke. Yeah, you are right, Steve. That shows a little

:06:51. > :06:55.bit of being rusty. That's really what shows there. What Clarke

:06:55. > :06:59.himself, he has had many races and you can see his experience of

:06:59. > :07:04.having tight races. Out of the blocks we expect Clarke to be

:07:04. > :07:09.explosive, he is short, compact. He is Commonwealth champion. But

:07:09. > :07:13.Carter was on him quickly. Powell was always trying to reach him but

:07:13. > :07:18.couldn't quite get up to Clarke's performance. A new Jamaican record.

:07:18. > :07:22.He will be happy. He is a very happy man indeed,

:07:22. > :07:26.Colin. You You wanted that national record, you have delivered it. How

:07:26. > :07:29.does it feel? It feels great. My season has been going great.

:07:29. > :07:33.Training was going great. I knew that I needed to stay focused and

:07:33. > :07:38.relaxed and believe in myself and I came out here and I did it. So, I

:07:38. > :07:43.am very glad. Thank God, man. make your mark on a world stage you

:07:43. > :07:49.need to make a mark on the Jamaican stage, how important to get

:07:49. > :07:54.alongside these guys like Carter and Powell and a couple of decent

:07:54. > :07:59.ones back home! I have been in the background the last two years, so I

:07:59. > :08:03.needed to get further and I needed to win here and make myself feel

:08:03. > :08:06.more confident going into the rest of the season. You feel like you

:08:06. > :08:09.believe you belong on this world stage and you can deliver when it

:08:09. > :08:13.comes to a pressure situation like today? Of course, definitely. I

:08:13. > :08:17.have no doubt in myself and I am happy to know I have good

:08:17. > :08:22.supporters from Jamaica, my family, friends, you know, and I keep

:08:22. > :08:30.motivated especially when I am running against good athletes like

:08:30. > :08:36.Asafa and Nesta. Go and enjoy it. Thank you, appreciate it.

:08:36. > :08:40.Well, that new Jamaican record goes to Lerone Clarke, ahead of his

:08:40. > :08:48.team-mates. A personal best for Carter. Powell equals his best in

:08:48. > :08:54.the heats but has to settle for third.

:08:54. > :09:02.Earlier on we saw the men's 60 metres hurdle with another national

:09:02. > :09:06.record and superb performance from Liu Xiang, well ahead of his rival

:09:06. > :09:16.Dayron Robles who held off Dexter Falk.

:09:16. > :09:27.

:09:28. > :09:32.There was a national record in the foreShara Proctor. Let's get the

:09:32. > :09:37.thoughts of Shara now who spoke with Phil Jones.

:09:37. > :09:44.The performance of the day, A new British record in the long jump.

:09:44. > :09:49.Did it twice as well. We can see 6.80. It brings a smile to your

:09:49. > :09:55.face. Tell me how it was for you. just, the first thing I wanted to

:09:55. > :09:58.do was get crowd behind me, stay focused. The coach had me excited

:09:58. > :10:02.from the start, he said you can jump far and that's exactly what I

:10:02. > :10:05.did. I broke the record not once, but twice and I am excited about it.

:10:05. > :10:11.Excited to go into world indoor championships. It's an amazing

:10:11. > :10:17.performance. Bearing in mind that record was set in 1984. It had been

:10:17. > :10:22.equalled once since then. It's pwb a a -- been a long time coming.

:10:22. > :10:27.That record is older than me, I searched it online. My motivation

:10:27. > :10:32.was to break that record. S a -- it's a wonderful performance. Well

:10:32. > :10:36.done. A great six me metres -- 60 metres

:10:36. > :10:42.there. Lerone Clarke taking it. Cast your mind forward to the

:10:42. > :10:47.trials in Jamaica, for the Olympics. It's going to be phenomenonal.

:10:47. > :10:51.took your breath away already. I am going to try my best to be witness

:10:51. > :10:54.to it all. It's going to be sensational. They have lots of

:10:54. > :10:59.talented athletes. Everybody will be watching their 100 metres. It

:10:59. > :11:02.will be the talk at the moment that the only time Usain Bolt and Blake

:11:02. > :11:07.will compete will be the trials before the Olympics so you can see

:11:07. > :11:11.it's going to be a red hot 100 metres, for sure. That's a massive

:11:11. > :11:17.cheer, that was the crowd being introduced - even Mo Farah being

:11:17. > :11:22.introduced to the crowd. Let's hear from Mo now. The crowd are on their

:11:22. > :11:27.feet and Farah gets the victory for Great Britain!

:11:27. > :11:32.Did it give you a message, if you didn't know before, this is Olympic

:11:32. > :11:36.year and everybody is into it. tkpwraed to have -- great to have

:11:36. > :11:40.the crowd behind you. It's a big year. I am using the crowd more as

:11:40. > :11:44.a positive thing than anything else and when you get tired and digging

:11:44. > :11:48.in the last lap and they get behind you, you want to push that bit more.

:11:48. > :11:51.They love you. You are a new hero for them, obviously. I know you are

:11:51. > :11:54.going to enjoy it here in Birmingham as well. The crowds are

:11:54. > :12:00.always so knowledgable and you have had memorable races here in the

:12:00. > :12:06.past. 2009 was a great year here. Broken the British record there. It

:12:07. > :12:10.was a really good, but I am doing two miles, which I am excited about

:12:10. > :12:14.and see if I can get close to the British record hopefully. It's all

:12:15. > :12:18.about this one race, the time strategy. The danger I suppose in

:12:18. > :12:21.this year, Olympics year, is everybody gets ahead of themselves

:12:21. > :12:24.and you can't afford to do that. You can't afford to do that. In

:12:24. > :12:33.terms of long distance you have to be patient and take your time and

:12:33. > :12:36.take one race at a time. I didn't even know what day the Olympics my

:12:36. > :12:42.final was, I didn't want to be thinking that far ahead. I wanted

:12:42. > :12:46.to think about one race at a time. I am thinking about the Grand Prixs

:12:46. > :12:52.before, the London Grand Prix, hopefully to test myself there and

:12:52. > :12:55.the trials, but I am not thinking beyond that.

:12:55. > :13:00.Huge noise in Glasgow a few weeks ago. Denise, it's going to be even

:13:00. > :13:03.louder here for this race. This knowledgable crowd will raise the

:13:03. > :13:11.roof. You are already heard it in his introduction. This is the race

:13:11. > :13:15.that people have been wanting to see. Mo has set many records the

:13:15. > :13:17.last couple of years. He loves this track. It's familiar to him. I am

:13:17. > :13:24.expecting fireworks, whether it's a national record, a European record,

:13:24. > :13:27.who knows? One mark he will want to beat is his training partner's

:13:27. > :13:35.recent time of eight minutes and nine seconds, would you agree with

:13:35. > :13:45.that, Steve? Yes the, the performance may give

:13:45. > :14:13.

:14:13. > :14:18.us a clue as to how Mo might run set this up for you, this is two

:14:18. > :14:28.miles, 16 laps. If you look at the world record and there has been

:14:28. > :14:31.

:14:31. > :14:41.talk, it is, but if you go back to when it was broken in 2003, it took

:14:41. > :14:43.

:14:43. > :14:48.attempts to break that record. 84.35. For Mo that's going to be a

:14:48. > :14:54.tough ask. They've asked for a fast pace. Going back to that race in

:14:54. > :15:04.America when he ran 8.9, he ran eight seconds quicker for the

:15:04. > :15:20.

:15:20. > :15:30.be up to these men to get them through one mile and not far

:15:30. > :15:41.

:15:41. > :15:50.outside four minutes. That is hard as he said they did in Glasgow. He

:15:50. > :15:56.has only had one race since then, one mile. He was tripped up by his

:15:56. > :16:05.team-mate. He still got up and finished. But this will be tough

:16:05. > :16:09.today. Nobody else will help him. And if he wants to get a fast time,

:16:09. > :16:15.he will have to hope that the pacemakers don't go silly and they

:16:15. > :16:19.run at a good pace that he can work on. Will there has got some quality

:16:19. > :16:23.at lives behind him and that makes it more difficult because we are

:16:23. > :16:28.all looking for more thorough to win and also for him to run fast

:16:28. > :16:34.and also to see him bricks some kind of record. The European record

:16:34. > :16:39.was set 39 years ago today of eight minutes and 13.2 seconds. I am sure

:16:39. > :16:47.he can blow that away. He is capable of running more than 10

:16:47. > :16:57.seconds faster than that. He has cut Eliud Kipchoge, the former

:16:57. > :17:01.world champion, behind him. He has quality athletes. He is leading.

:17:01. > :17:08.But he needs to take some closer order. The pacemaker has gone

:17:08. > :17:14.through. More thorough, the first 400 metres. That is quick. -- Mo

:17:15. > :17:21.Farah. For people who know the difference between metric and

:17:21. > :17:27.imperial, 16 laps plus 18 metres and that it teenagers become as

:17:27. > :17:31.important because we talk about the lap time and that was 400 metres

:17:31. > :17:40.exactly, that was not exactly to the finish line. Lap times are

:17:40. > :17:43.important. That idea of running not four, 30.5, that will be important

:17:43. > :17:50.and you do not want many laps were you are slipping outside at that

:17:50. > :17:55.pace. But these guys have got to keep an eye on were well par is and

:17:55. > :18:00.help him through because he will not get much help from behind.

:18:00. > :18:08.Eliud Kipchoge, all of his great exploits, they will want to beat

:18:08. > :18:16.him today. And he is sitting there on his son but the pacemaker. The

:18:16. > :18:23.second 400 metres. 1:59.7. 60 seconds for more thorough for that

:18:23. > :18:28.particular lap so he is running quickly. -- for Mo Farah. He will

:18:28. > :18:34.try to run close to four minutes for the second mile. That puts the

:18:34. > :18:44.quality of running in perspective. We are now ignoring the pacemakers.

:18:44. > :18:47.

:18:48. > :18:54.Mold Barack is really the pacemaker. -- Mo Farah. Eliud Kipchoge, Moses

:18:54. > :19:02.Kipsiro, quality applet. Jonathan Mellor is running well. He has a

:19:02. > :19:11.chance of going to the world indoor, he has to one of 3000 metres in 7.5.

:19:11. > :19:18.-- he has to run. He has no option but to go with this quicker pace.

:19:18. > :19:23.That third 400 metres slept. 62.5. I think he realised that. He

:19:23. > :19:27.suddenly accelerated and has got close to the pacemaker. But he

:19:27. > :19:33.knows exactly what is happening. He is glancing at the screen and

:19:33. > :19:37.getting the information that he needs. It isn't his fault that the

:19:37. > :19:41.athletes are not following him. But when you get this quality, you do

:19:41. > :19:49.not want to be sticking out on your own and trying to set the pace for

:19:49. > :19:59.everybody else. Eliud Kipchoge, takes closer order. And that's that,

:19:59. > :20:01.

:20:01. > :20:09.62.5. There just tripping over that pace a little. I suspect that is

:20:10. > :20:19.what he felt, the questionnaires, can mould thorough pick this up? --

:20:20. > :20:20.

:20:20. > :20:30.Mo Farah. Can they maintain the pace to get them closer to the last

:20:30. > :20:32.

:20:32. > :20:37.400 or 500 metres? Mo Farah looking good. Our statistician is doing his

:20:37. > :20:41.work and he has told me that he went through the first mile four

:20:41. > :20:44.minutes and five seconds. That means he will have to run it under

:20:44. > :20:51.the four minute mile to break the record and that would be a tall

:20:51. > :21:00.order. But we know he can go close to that. When the pacemaker drops

:21:00. > :21:06.out. He will be left in the fund. Eliud Kipchoge, still there. Moses

:21:06. > :21:11.Kipsiro, still there. Young Jonathan Mellor has perhaps paid

:21:11. > :21:17.for going up at any pace. He had no option. The pacemaker stepped aside,

:21:17. > :21:24.five laps to go and Mo Farah has to think about winning this. Not think

:21:24. > :21:32.about the clock, look at Eliud Kipchoge. He has been in good form.

:21:32. > :21:36.Well borough has got to be aware. - - Mo Farah. He has to forget about

:21:36. > :21:44.the clock a little bit. Just when the race, that is what you have to

:21:44. > :21:47.do. He is a world champion at 5000 metres and now he is being

:21:47. > :21:52.challenged by the brother of the world record holder at 5000

:21:52. > :21:57.pictures and that is Tariku Bekele. It is now time for him to just

:21:57. > :22:02.settle. Just to think about winning the race. He has that terrific

:22:02. > :22:06.sprint finish. The time welcome, I think he will be the European

:22:06. > :22:12.record today. We will not get the world record but he has to win this

:22:12. > :22:18.race. He has come into this with their huge background of good

:22:18. > :22:22.performance so we know that he is in good shape. Now, he is being

:22:22. > :22:30.tested by Tariku Bekele. And he knows he does not have the pace of

:22:30. > :22:35.Mo Farah. That is what he is doing. Happy to just run at the front and

:22:35. > :22:40.look at 10 starting to rock. But he is still close. Tariku Bekele is

:22:40. > :22:45.really testing, putting his foot down and that daylight gets further,

:22:45. > :22:53.he needs to be careful. Just sensing that more thorough isn't

:22:53. > :23:00.closing that gap so he moves into second place. -- Mo Farah. The 62nd

:23:00. > :23:09.lap. The double Commonwealth champion comes into place. Mold

:23:09. > :23:16.Barack is struggling. -- Mo Farah. He looks tired. He is trying to run

:23:16. > :23:23.quickly. On the outside, can you finish? The bell has sounded. And

:23:23. > :23:30.here comes Mo Farah. They are trying to cheer their man home and

:23:30. > :23:37.he has work to do. Can the former world champion respond? Kicking

:23:37. > :23:45.hard. He has nothing left at this point. It is Eliud Kipchoge. One

:23:45. > :23:53.last effort from Mo Farah. Eliud Kipchoge will win this. It'll be a

:23:53. > :23:59.new British and European record for Mo Farah. But it is only February.

:23:59. > :24:03.And he will not want to have been beaten by Eliud Kipchoge. This is a

:24:03. > :24:07.man who we know over the years is right at the top of the world, a

:24:07. > :24:10.former world champion, plenty of medals. He is a great athlete and

:24:10. > :24:20.the sort of that elite that will Darragh these days would want to

:24:20. > :24:21.

:24:21. > :24:27.beat. A -- the sort of athlete that Mo Farah would want to beat.

:24:27. > :24:35.Sometimes, you have to think about just winning. Keeping her unbeaten

:24:35. > :24:39.record is important. Eliud Kipchoge. The reigning 5,000-metre champion

:24:39. > :24:49.under pressure. Emanuele Abate, the brother of the world record holder,

:24:49. > :24:50.

:24:50. > :24:54.struggling. Will Farran making that desperate effort. -- Mo Farah.

:24:54. > :25:04.Moses Kipsiro is a former Commonwealth champion. So let's

:25:04. > :25:11.

:25:11. > :25:17.face it, winning this would have winning the race is important. And

:25:17. > :25:20.if he concentrated on winning the race, he might have been able to.

:25:20. > :25:26.Bowling a good time, that is sometimes dangerous but he always

:25:26. > :25:34.gives 100% and in February, the Olympic year, you're on show Jill,

:25:34. > :25:44.don't worry. They say you are on show Jill for February. How do you

:25:44. > :25:46.

:25:46. > :25:51.assess this? -- show Jill. -- schedule. I am just happy to have

:25:51. > :25:56.worked hard. You have shown what incredible guts you have. You are

:25:56. > :26:02.chasing hard. He have to work hard. Thanks to the crowd and everybody

:26:02. > :26:07.who supported and that was a great reception. One of the best ever.

:26:07. > :26:15.You're the crowd's favourite? just appreciate everyone's help.

:26:15. > :26:22.Keep it going, all the best. Another big day of athletics. Here

:26:22. > :26:31.are the headlines. It was a clean sweep in the jobs for British

:26:31. > :26:37.athletes. Robbie Grabarz, two-point 32 to take the high jump. Oliver

:26:37. > :26:45.Bleasdale in the pole vault. And Shara Proctor, two national records,

:26:45. > :26:51.culminating in 6.80. Jessica Ennis, 7.87 seconds, the fastest time in

:26:51. > :26:57.the world this year. She jumped a season's best in the long jump and

:26:57. > :27:06.then the head to head in the 60 metres, Liu Xiang, the former

:27:06. > :27:15.champion,. It was the domestic affair in the 60 metres, with g7

:27:15. > :27:21.macro winning. -- Lerone Clarke. We will start with the best

:27:21. > :27:27.performance of the year? -- the day? Shara Proctor. Two records in

:27:27. > :27:31.one afternoon. Great performance. She thoroughly deserves this.

:27:31. > :27:37.in terms of looking back, disappointment at the end with Mo

:27:37. > :27:42.Farah? Some disappointment, for the crowd more than anything. It was a

:27:42. > :27:48.tough field. To come second the way he did, he should not be

:27:48. > :27:57.disappointed. And no athlete enjoys second place. Confirmation of that

:27:57. > :28:01.result. That was a personal best from Eliud Kipchoge. That rounds

:28:01. > :28:07.off a live action. Here is what is coming up over the next couple of

:28:07. > :28:13.days. This evening, 7pm, the cycling track World Cup from the

:28:13. > :28:22.Olympic Velodrome and tomorrow at 2:45pm. Followed straight

:28:22. > :28:29.afterwards by Ski Sunday. That is at 6:00pm. Jessica Ennis, obviously,

:28:29. > :28:33.set up very well? Yes but I think the afternoon, the British athletes

:28:33. > :28:37.have done well, they had performed to the standard we want to see in

:28:37. > :28:47.the Olympic year and I think this does bode well with Jessica Ennis

:28:47. > :28:47.

:28:47. > :28:52.leading the way. Oliver Bleasdale, -- looks set for Istanbul? And the

:28:52. > :28:55.way she spoke about the performance was the important thing. She knows

:28:55. > :28:59.what she wants to try and she can see where she is making

:28:59. > :29:05.improvements. This girl is a real champion in the making and I wish

:29:05. > :29:11.you all the best. Mo Farah, it will focus his mind? You do not want to

:29:11. > :29:15.give your competitors room to think that he has any witnesses. He has

:29:15. > :29:21.done really well indoors. Let's move on to the indoors in Istanbul

:29:21. > :29:27.and see what he can do. Thank you all very much. That is that from
