:01:11. > :01:21.the Olympic champion. Fraser Price, what a competitor. The fastest high

:01:21. > :01:40.

:01:40. > :01:45.Olympic record. Mo Farah for Great looking to sparkle here in a very

:01:45. > :01:48.sunny Birmingham and a very sunny Alexander Stadium this afternoon. It

:01:48. > :01:51.is the latest instalment of the Diamond League, the seventh of the

:01:51. > :01:59.season. With World Championship trials happening in just two weeks

:01:59. > :02:02.time, many of our athletes will see this as a crunch period. This is

:02:02. > :02:10.about so much more than British athletes. We have such strength and

:02:10. > :02:13.depth here. As Denise Lewis will attest, it is a cracking line-up.

:02:13. > :02:17.There are so many Olympic and world champions here. This is the beauty

:02:18. > :02:25.of the Diamond League. It is about bringing them together, producing

:02:25. > :02:28.heads to -- head to heads that make it exciting. I sense that everyone

:02:28. > :02:34.is in Europe right now after the Jamaican trials and the European

:02:34. > :02:38.trials. They are looking to the world Championships. That's right.

:02:38. > :02:41.It is about getting quick times and distances. For our athletes, giving

:02:41. > :02:47.those all-important qualifications. And this is where it all began for

:02:47. > :02:51.you. This is my home turf. I look at the new stand and the facilities, so

:02:51. > :02:57.much more upgraded than when I was competing. Spit and sawdust!

:02:57. > :03:02.Cheeky! But it is a supportive, knowledgeable crowd, glad to be

:03:02. > :03:04.here. They have dodged the opportunity to stay home and have a

:03:04. > :03:09.barbecue and they have come out here. They know and love their

:03:09. > :03:19.athletics. They will see some special performances today. It is

:03:19. > :03:19.

:03:19. > :04:14.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 55 seconds

:04:14. > :04:18.not just about Great Britain, there have a couple of men's 100 metres

:04:18. > :04:23.heats coming up, a strong international field. With conditions

:04:23. > :04:26.as they are, who is to say that will not go up? The women's hurdles is

:04:26. > :04:36.going to be hotly contested. Perri Shakes-Drayton, leading from the

:04:36. > :04:38.

:04:38. > :04:48.front last weekend, and aim each -- Ailey child. -- Eilidh Child. It is

:04:48. > :04:49.

:04:49. > :04:52.a men's 1500 with strong British representation. The men's 400-metre

:04:52. > :04:58.hurdles, pretty close to being the Olympic final from last year.

:04:58. > :05:02.Absolutely top-class. Not to be missed. Ravi -- Robbie Grabarz in

:05:02. > :05:07.the high jump and then the women's 100 metres hurdles. Sally Pearson,

:05:07. > :05:11.back from injury after 11 months. She came back with a bang three days

:05:11. > :05:15.ago. Another strong line-up with Greg Rutherford looking to put last

:05:15. > :05:23.week's disappointment behind him. Christine Ohuruogu is going in the

:05:23. > :05:32.400 metres. She was seems to peek at the rate time. And then Fraser Price

:05:32. > :05:39.and Carl -- Carmelita Jeter going head-to-head. And the men's

:05:39. > :05:44.200-metre final later on, followed by the 110 metres hurdles final. And

:05:44. > :05:49.then it is the women's 1500 metres, the men's 1800 metres, but the race

:05:49. > :05:53.that most people are looking forward to, Mo Farah in the 5000 metres.

:05:53. > :05:58.What can you do today? Plenty to look through. What has got you

:05:58. > :06:02.excited, Denise? For me, it has to excited, Denise? For me, it has to

:06:02. > :06:12.be the men's 400 metres hurdles. The top three in the Olympics, and also

:06:12. > :06:17.

:06:17. > :06:22.die Green, the World Champion. -- Dai Greene. Colin Jackson is joining

:06:22. > :06:25.us. We have already spoken about the hurdles heats. Tell us about them.

:06:25. > :06:29.Quite interesting. I think all hurdlers appreciate when you have

:06:29. > :06:31.the opportunity to have a run out before the competition. In the very

:06:31. > :06:33.first one, we have the Olympic first one, we have the Olympic

:06:33. > :06:39.champion, right in the middle of the champion, right in the middle of

:06:39. > :06:43.Aries Merritt, suffering from injury, but he would normally be

:06:43. > :06:53.expected to pull away from the field but he is being questioned by the

:06:53. > :06:55.

:06:55. > :07:00.runner from are trade-offs. 13.24. And you are looking for a tailwind.

:07:00. > :07:05.On paper, the United States should be taking this. They battled their

:07:05. > :07:11.way. But look at the gap from France, sneaking through. Taking it

:07:11. > :07:15.in a comfortable time, 13.4. A bit slower. You know, it is about the

:07:15. > :07:20.competition. There is a lot of competition and tension out there

:07:20. > :07:24.when they go head to head. I am looking my lips in preparation for a

:07:24. > :07:31.hot race later on. Aries Merritt last night was telling us that his

:07:31. > :07:38.nickname, not self appointed, was the hurdles magician. Not quite as

:07:38. > :07:41.magical as he thinks he can get yet so far. He thinks he is looking for

:07:41. > :07:45.so far. He thinks he is looking for London to be when his times start

:07:45. > :07:48.coming down. If you have not been across the Diamond League so far,

:07:48. > :07:52.there is a quick reminder of how the competition works and the points

:07:52. > :07:56.competition works and the points that are at stake. The Diamond

:07:56. > :08:03.League is a series of 14 track and field events in which the world's

:08:03. > :08:06.top athletes compete for points. The aim is to find the most consistent

:08:06. > :08:09.performer in each event. Only the top three athletes at each meeting

:08:09. > :08:14.are awarded points and in the final meeting of the year, the points are

:08:14. > :08:19.doubled. Athletes can select how many meetings they attend, but they

:08:19. > :08:23.must compete in the last event to become the overall winner. Here, the

:08:23. > :08:33.athlete with the most points in their discipline is the winner of

:08:33. > :08:33.

:08:33. > :08:39.the claimant and lucrative diamond race. Time for the 100 metres

:08:39. > :08:43.heats. I will leave you in the hands of Colin Jackson. The superpowers

:08:43. > :08:53.might not be here, Tyson Gay and Usain Bolt, but this is a decent

:08:53. > :08:54.

:08:54. > :09:00.line-up. Nesta Carter of Jamaica, below ten seconds this season. And

:09:00. > :09:07.on the flanks in this one, James Ellington and Mark Lewis-Francis,

:09:07. > :09:11.hoping to be willed on by the home crowd. Actually, it is slightly

:09:11. > :09:17.embarrassing. Carter looks in tiptop shape and he is competing well. That

:09:17. > :09:25.is the bottom line. Nesta Carter, the traditional lead-off man for

:09:25. > :09:28.Jamaica. Look out for Kiryu, from Japan, the first time he has raced

:09:28. > :09:36.outside of Japan. Great things expected from him. We will see how

:09:36. > :09:46.he gets on. A big noise for James Ellington on home turf. Great

:09:46. > :09:50.

:09:50. > :10:00.strength in the 200. The UK champion last year over the longer sprint.

:10:00. > :10:05.

:10:05. > :10:10.Gabrielle Mahut very -- Mvumvure. Keston Bledman from Trinidad and

:10:10. > :10:18.Tobago. A personal best of 9.86 last year. Not so quick this year. And

:10:18. > :10:24.here is the grand the of sprinting. He has just been given a

:10:24. > :10:34.semi-abusive introduction. Mocking his age. But he is still very quick.

:10:34. > :10:39.

:10:39. > :10:44.10.04 this season. And a man near -- here in Nesta Carter who has run

:10:44. > :10:54.9.78 two years ago but 9.97 this year. The man to beat. And racing

:10:54. > :10:56.

:10:56. > :11:01.outside of Japan for the first time, 17 years old, Kiryu. Huge phalanx of

:11:01. > :11:07.Japanese people here to watch this man. Kimmari Roach on the outside.

:11:07. > :11:17.His theft -- came fifth in the Pacific final three weeks ago. Not

:11:17. > :11:23.too shabby. And will be a good reception outside for him. Mark

:11:23. > :11:33.Lewis-Francis, not far off 31. How Dave Ewers flyby. 10.31, his best

:11:33. > :11:36.

:11:36. > :11:46.this season. -- how the years flyby. Looking for the a standard at this

:11:46. > :11:47.

:11:47. > :11:50.stage, the British athletes. Lewis-Francis... It is the first

:11:50. > :12:00.three and then the two fastest losers through to the final. That

:12:00. > :12:00.

:12:00. > :12:41.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 55 seconds

:12:41. > :12:44.unique style powering him on. He leads. He takes it. Kimmari Roach

:12:44. > :12:54.came through strongly on the outside. But I want whatever he is

:12:54. > :12:55.

:12:56. > :13:05.having. Kim Collins, 10.13. A very good run from old man Collins.

:13:06. > :13:08.

:13:08. > :13:10.wise old man. He's very dynamic out of the blocks. The sprinters would

:13:10. > :13:13.have opened the curtains very gingerly this morning wondering what

:13:13. > :13:18.the weather conditions would be like. But they are ideal for

:13:18. > :13:24.sprinting. The wind is in their faces, but it is a tiny breath of

:13:24. > :13:30.air. They are certainly enjoying stretching out their legs. Running

:13:30. > :13:38.particularly well. Kim Collins, 10.13, relaxing into the line. Not

:13:38. > :13:42.too bad. Struggling at the back, Kiryu, in his first race outside of

:13:42. > :13:50.Japan. Not a bad one from James Ellington. It was a solid run by

:13:50. > :13:57.him. 10.29. Really focused. We know him better as a 200-metre runner. It

:13:57. > :14:06.is a good way for him. Nesta Carter, on the left, Kim Collins,

:14:06. > :14:15.exploding out of the blocks. Kim Collins ran two 100-metre races

:14:15. > :14:18.there. Was a problem the recall. Him and Asafa Powell ran down the track

:14:18. > :14:23.and Asafa Powell ran down the track and they had to run the race

:14:23. > :14:26.Kim Collins, doing it again. More to come from the final. Definitely. You

:14:26. > :14:31.have to take advantage on such a lovely day. I'm happy with the

:14:31. > :14:36.weather and the competition. I have to do my best. Britain is almost a

:14:36. > :14:40.second home for you and your not used to these conditions.

:14:40. > :14:43.really. I'm looking forward to the European Championships and how the

:14:43. > :14:49.conditions were. We have been very lucky and we are taking advantage.

:14:49. > :14:53.The fans are here, so we're going to give them a great show. What will

:14:53. > :14:58.you do between now and the final? will try to get my body back up

:14:58. > :15:04.because you have to read in energy you have lost. All the best. Thank

:15:04. > :15:07.you for talking to us. Thank you you for talking to us. Thank you

:15:07. > :15:13.very much. To finalise the results, Kim Collins out in front. A

:15:13. > :15:23.disappointing 10.264 Nesta Carter. Kiryu, down in eighth. I think the

:15:23. > :15:34.

:15:34. > :15:41.Japanese press will be writing a second round, he felt the first. He

:15:41. > :15:44.needed to get a jump in. He can hopefully build on that, Nathan

:15:44. > :15:48.Douglas. It is great to see him back. There is no Phillips Idowu

:15:48. > :15:58.with today, I am not sure what is happening today. This man is the

:15:58. > :15:58.

:15:58. > :16:03.world and Olympic champion, Christian Taylor. Taylor struggling

:16:03. > :16:07.so far, a little bit, this season. The has not really come alive. This

:16:07. > :16:15.second round, he stretched out his lead to 70 metres and 12

:16:15. > :16:22.centimetres. -- 17 at metres. The Olympic and world champion still

:16:22. > :16:32.looking, he had a massive foul in round two. He loses his balance a

:16:32. > :16:45.

:16:45. > :16:53.feel that is what he needs. His season is spluttering along and

:16:53. > :16:57.have a bit, looking little bit flat. The double of shift into the board.

:16:57. > :17:05.17.47 is what he is looking to beat. Perhaps he is going a little bit

:17:05. > :17:15.highly on his hop. He will want to respond. He has never really jump

:17:15. > :17:32.

:17:32. > :17:37.high -- behind Teddy. Nathan Douglas. Round four, he fouled

:17:37. > :17:47.around three. He is looking in great shape, he had a horrible time

:17:47. > :17:58.

:17:58. > :18:03.with injury. But is better, better 2000! He is going to need to get

:18:03. > :18:13.over 17 metres if he is going to be considered for selection for Moscow.

:18:13. > :18:18.

:18:18. > :18:24.As I say, Phillips Idowu were, not Douglas.

:18:24. > :18:27.The discus competition went to the great British athlete, she

:18:27. > :18:31.surpassed expectations when she finished 6th in the European team

:18:31. > :18:37.championships. She started her campaign with a solid throw, 58

:18:37. > :18:45.minutes -- 58 metres, 54. A very good effort from the Britain. The

:18:45. > :18:55.major honours look as though they are going to go to Croatia. The big

:18:55. > :18:55.

:18:55. > :19:00.Croatian went out to way beyond 60 metres. 64.17. She is unbeaten in

:19:00. > :19:07.the Diamond League this season. She started to Dymott -- dominate the

:19:07. > :19:17.competition from an early stage. It is good conditions to discuss, and

:19:17. > :19:23.

:19:23. > :19:32.100 metres, at -- a chance for Europe's finest, James Dasaolu, and

:19:32. > :19:42.Jimmy Vicaut to compete. Joel Fearon also competing, with Harry

:19:42. > :19:53.

:19:53. > :19:58.this year of 10.24, he has used his sprinting power in the UK bobsleigh

:19:58. > :20:08.team. Julian Forte of Jamaica turns 20 tomorrow. He has lowered his

:20:08. > :20:09.

:20:09. > :20:19.personal best to 10.413 this season. A welcome for the man who has the

:20:19. > :20:22.

:20:22. > :20:25.standard for Britain, his personal best this season is 10.08. Isiah

:20:25. > :20:35.Young finished second to Tyson Gay in the 200 metres in the recent

:20:35. > :20:37.championships, he has run 9.99 in 100 metres this season. The

:20:37. > :20:41.familiar headband of Michael Rodgers. Might be considered

:20:41. > :20:46.unlucky to finish 4th at the Olympic trials last year, the world

:20:46. > :20:56.championship trials a few years -- a few weeks ago. Calesio Newman

:20:56. > :20:58.

:20:58. > :21:05.with him. More of a 200-metre man. He took that's massive physique to

:21:05. > :21:12.win it this week, Harry Aikines- Aryeetey going well. At side, one

:21:12. > :21:22.of Europe's finest, Geneva -- Jimmy Vicaut. A sprinter who is beginning

:21:22. > :21:35.

:21:35. > :21:42.to make inroads towards the French start of the second heat of the

:21:42. > :21:47.men's 100 metres, very interesting to see a battle within a battle

:21:47. > :21:57.between Dasaolu and Jimmy Vicaut, they were so close in Dusseldorf.

:21:57. > :22:25.

:22:25. > :22:30.Separated by the tiniest of themselves into it, James do so low

:22:30. > :22:34.it is -- James Dasaolu it is bringing home victory, Michael

:22:34. > :22:41.Rodgers second. And into a headwind as well. A wonderful run from James

:22:41. > :22:47.Dasaolu. He does it the hard way, a breeze against him, he led from

:22:47. > :22:52.start to finish. It is an exciting season for James. He had a

:22:52. > :22:57.tremendous indoor season going into that match, and after that

:22:57. > :23:02.performance, we were looking that under this season he would go under

:23:02. > :23:12.10 seconds. With that performance, I think that is definitely on the

:23:12. > :23:12.

:23:12. > :23:18.cards. 10.05, into a minus 1.3. A great performance. Into that wind,

:23:18. > :23:22.but almost equates to a sub 10 second time. Powerful, explosive,

:23:22. > :23:26.into his running well. He ran all the phases very well. Did not

:23:26. > :23:32.stress and self, very great performance from him. I am looking

:23:32. > :23:42.forward to this final. Jimmy Vicaut also doing well, and this brings

:23:42. > :23:50.James that -- James macro into the top 10 in Britain. He has got

:23:50. > :23:56.really high in these can I think he A new personal best, have a that it

:23:56. > :24:00.is that took starts today? cannot do better than getting a

:24:01. > :24:04.personal best! I can't wait from the final. You are keeping the

:24:04. > :24:08.momentum final, you have -- you are keeping the momentum going you have

:24:08. > :24:15.had a great season. I believe there is a lot more in the tank, I can't

:24:15. > :24:20.wait for the final, the crowd has come plate -- the crowd is amazing,

:24:20. > :24:30.it is there a hot day, I have got to go off and recover. We hope you

:24:30. > :24:40.

:24:40. > :24:46.beating those highly rated Americans. Disappointing for Harry

:24:46. > :24:56.Aikines-Aryeetey in eight place. The triple jump, it is such a

:24:56. > :25:09.

:25:09. > :25:19.pretty nicely. Christian Taylor, in round. Can tailor respond? A good

:25:19. > :25:31.

:25:31. > :25:37.hot pandas that. He's certainly bit more penetration on the board.

:25:37. > :25:44.Sometimes you lose the feeling. And knelt in the heat of competition,

:25:44. > :25:50.against two Teddy Tamgho, he may have found it again. He has a

:25:50. > :25:59.season's best, 17.66. So can Teddy Tamgho respond? He jumped

:25:59. > :26:06.immediately after Christian Taylor. It will be buzzing. It issued! --

:26:06. > :26:16.it is a huge! Absolutely massive. But it is a foul. He will have one

:26:16. > :26:26.

:26:26. > :26:36.more jumper. That was a long way! this season was winning in New York.

:26:36. > :26:36.

:26:36. > :26:41.At four metres 63. So Jenifer Sir, looking very simple. She is the

:26:41. > :26:51.Olympic champion, and during the winter, she broke the world indoor

:26:51. > :26:52.

:26:52. > :26:58.record, taking the record away from Yelena Isinbayeva. Good conditions

:26:58. > :27:05.for pole vault. The far side of the arena is bathed in sunshine. The

:27:05. > :27:08.spectators have agreed view. Certainly much better than the

:27:08. > :27:16.conditions last weekend for Paul vault. The sun is blistering here

:27:16. > :27:21.If the wind turns round, we could get very quick times in the 100

:27:21. > :27:24.metres later on! The women's 400- metre hurdles will be quick as well.

:27:24. > :27:29.Perri Shakes-Drayton and Eilidh Child will be leading from the

:27:29. > :27:36.front. They are having great seasons so far, Eilidh Child was

:27:36. > :27:46.looking majestic last week. Today, Britain's top to 400-metre hurdler

:27:46. > :27:49.

:27:49. > :27:57.She has really made it clear that she is a contender in this event.

:27:57. > :28:01.Perri Shakes-Drayton looking great. What a great run from Eilidh Child!

:28:01. > :28:05.The indoor season would better- than-expected. It gave me a little

:28:05. > :28:12.bit of confidence into the outdoor season, knowing I have the speed in

:28:12. > :28:15.my legs. A big new personal best. It is confirmed that don't know

:28:15. > :28:23.what I'm doing in my training, things are going in the right

:28:23. > :28:29.direction. People see potential in me as well. It is nice that I am in

:28:29. > :28:33.good shape. I am ready for the World Championships. When she is in

:28:33. > :28:39.this sort of shape, she can really do some damage.

:28:39. > :28:49.This young lady has really got it all. I can still run a bit faster.

:28:49. > :28:58.

:28:58. > :29:01.Perri Shakes-Drayton has run 54.03, and Eilidh Child has run 54.02.

:29:01. > :29:06.Competition is key, and the astute head to head, going to be top dog,

:29:06. > :29:13.it could be an interesting race. This is the domestic battle we have

:29:13. > :29:18.been waiting to see. Conditions are absolutely amazing, wonderful.

:29:18. > :29:25.Eilidh Child set a personal best last week, she will be rubbing her

:29:25. > :29:33.hands together in dire conditions in Gateshead. -- she set her

:29:33. > :29:40.personal best in dire conditions in Gateshead. Where are the threats in

:29:40. > :29:45.the line-up? I am not worried about anyone else. All the action will

:29:45. > :29:53.between the British athletes. They will be looking to see who is going

:29:53. > :30:03.to be on top, the Queen of 400 metres hurdles for Britain. Thank

:30:03. > :30:22.

:30:22. > :30:26.you, Colin, let's go to Steve trap 4th in their championships, their

:30:26. > :30:34.strength and depth, Jamaica had three women under 55 seconds in the

:30:34. > :30:39.championships. Meghan Beesley, what a great weekend last weekend for

:30:39. > :30:47.her in the relay. She was the first time performing, it should perform

:30:47. > :30:50.for a well. Eilidh Child, may be one of the performances, there were

:30:50. > :30:55.few good ones in Gateshead, in not grid conditions. It is much better

:30:56. > :31:03.here, she will be pretty pleased to be inside Perri Shakes-Drayton.

:31:03. > :31:07.Expect Eilidh Child to go out hard, and Perri Shakes-Drayton will be at

:31:07. > :31:16.her very best to try and beat her. You never know what you are going

:31:16. > :31:24.to get with Angela Morosanu, she ran with the 3.85 in Shanghai. Last

:31:24. > :31:30.year, she ran 53.6. Yet this lady PAD research -- Yadisleidy Pedroso,

:31:30. > :31:38.she has transferred from Cuba. Her eligibility for Italy does not come

:31:38. > :31:44.in yet. Ajoke Odumosu, the Commonwealth champion, seems so

:31:44. > :31:47.long ago. Tiffany Williams on the outside. Has been the American

:31:47. > :31:54.champion in the past, this time only made the semi-finals. The

:31:54. > :31:57.fastest woman in the air is an American, Corry Carter. In the

:31:57. > :32:01.American champion ships, she did not run in the final because she

:32:01. > :32:05.was bridesmaid at her sister's wedding. She is number one in the

:32:05. > :32:15.world and will not be at the World Championships. So more chances are

:32:15. > :32:32.

:32:32. > :32:41.Perri Shakes-Drayton and Eilidh the set position. Away cleanly.

:32:41. > :32:45.Expect Eilidh Child to hit this had. Maurice Sano started quickly.

:32:45. > :32:51.Williams, right on the outside. Perri Shakes-Drayton has been

:32:51. > :32:56.dragged through here. No Eilidh Child is going to try to hang on to

:32:56. > :33:03.her shirttails. The two Brits leading this. Not much to choose

:33:03. > :33:07.between them. Rising through the top end. The crowd is sensing and good

:33:07. > :33:13.race. Perri Shakes-Drayton takes a slight advantage and build upon it.

:33:13. > :33:22.Into the home straight. Angela Morosanu stumbles. Eilidh Child

:33:22. > :33:29.doing her best to stay with Perri Shakes-Drayton. A British 1-2. Perri

:33:29. > :33:33.Shakes-Drayton wins again. 53.83. Just outside her personal best. I

:33:33. > :33:39.think Eilidh Child may well have got another personal best. A big step

:33:39. > :33:43.forward for her. Isn't it great to see two British women right near the

:33:43. > :33:46.top of the world rankings in an event like this? Doing so well. Not

:33:46. > :33:49.frightened to race each other either. They will be going head to

:33:49. > :33:55.head again in the trials in Birmingham in a couple of weeks.

:33:55. > :34:02.That is the best so far of 2013 for Perri Shakes-Drayton and it will be

:34:02. > :34:05.a new personal best for Eilidh Child. Not far behind.

:34:05. > :34:09.When you have great domestic competition, this is what happens to

:34:09. > :34:14.an event. It gets pushed into world-class. Both of these runners

:34:14. > :34:18.are very dominant. In Britain, and though they are mixing with the best

:34:18. > :34:25.of the world. I was watching Perri Shakes-Drayton and she was really

:34:25. > :34:30.sensible with it. She has a lot of legs. Remember, she ran 50.5 for the

:34:30. > :34:35.400 metres. She is controlling it, marrying this great leg speed along

:34:35. > :34:38.with much, much better technique. Eilidh Child is far better

:34:38. > :34:46.technically. We have just been talking about her rhythm and her

:34:46. > :34:50.stride. Angela Morosanu nearly took out the athlete outside her. Our two

:34:51. > :34:56.women are out in front, and really stretching it. What a wonderful

:34:56. > :35:05.performance. 53.82 for Perri Shakes-Drayton and 53.42 four Eilidh

:35:05. > :35:09.Child. Brilliant. What I like about this, and it is exactly your point,

:35:09. > :35:16.the two of them know how good each of other are. They are pushing each

:35:16. > :35:19.other up the world rankings. Perri Shakes-Drayton is the fourth fastest

:35:19. > :35:23.this year. It is the consistency that they are developing now. We

:35:23. > :35:27.spoke about Angela Morosanu running a QuickTime every now and then, but

:35:27. > :35:34.these two generally get up there. I think Perri Shakes-Drayton learned a

:35:34. > :35:39.lot last year. They know they have the strength. They have a flat

:35:39. > :35:49.speed, and they have been running really well. Very exciting. I'm sure

:35:49. > :35:56.

:35:56. > :36:04.they are both delighted delighted. they are both delighted delighted.

:36:04. > :36:11.It is always nice to peak, near to a championship. I mean the trials are

:36:11. > :36:21.soon, so I can see Eilidh Child in action again. We need to stay fit

:36:21. > :36:21.

:36:21. > :36:24.and healthy. Eilidh, you're getting closer to beating 54. You're getting

:36:24. > :36:34.closer to your personal best. That was probably messier than

:36:34. > :36:35.

:36:35. > :36:37.Gateshead. But it is good to run against Perri. Like Perri said, we

:36:37. > :36:41.are getting faster and faster and peaking towards the world

:36:41. > :36:47.Championships. How much did you learn from that experience last

:36:47. > :36:52.year, under such intense pressure? It was a surreal experience. We felt

:36:52. > :36:56.like we were in a bubble. It was so intense. This year, it is just more

:36:56. > :37:06.relaxed. We are enjoying it more, having more fun with that reduced

:37:06. > :37:12.

:37:12. > :37:14.intensity. I agree. She said it right. Nice and brief. Thanks.

:37:15. > :37:19.right. Nice and brief. Thanks. 32.82, personal best for Eilidh

:37:19. > :37:27.right. Nice and brief. Thanks. 32.82, personal best for But also,

:37:27. > :37:32.along within third. -- Pedroso, a long way back in third.

:37:32. > :37:41.My heart has just recovered to 150 beats per minute after Tommy

:37:41. > :37:44.Tango's jump. Christian Taylor is the man in the lead. He has

:37:44. > :37:49.rediscovered his form today. The Olympic champion will be defending

:37:49. > :37:55.his world title in Moscow. Can you go further? He can. And you could

:37:55. > :37:59.hear the sound as he landed. It was not that sharp move through the

:37:59. > :38:04.ground that you need. Losing a lot of speed. But he is going to take

:38:04. > :38:14.such confidence out of this competition regardless of what his

:38:14. > :38:15.

:38:15. > :38:22.opponent does afterwards. I take you what, Timmy Tango knows how big that

:38:22. > :38:32.foul -- that foul was. And he has rediscovered his form today. He is

:38:32. > :38:39.back. He certainly is. Teddy Tamgho, Kenny get it right? -- can they get

:38:39. > :38:43.it right. I think that is another foul. I tell you what, this guy, it

:38:43. > :38:49.is not a technical turn but he has so much mountainous and energy. --

:38:49. > :38:55.bouncy nests. Taylor and Teddy Tamgho will move on from here to

:38:55. > :39:00.what could be an incredible triple jump competition in Moscow. Just one

:39:00. > :39:10.legal jump, 17.47. Not enough to beat Christian Taylor at 17.66, his

:39:10. > :39:16.seasons best. Sandra Berkowitz has dominated this

:39:16. > :39:19.competition since the first round. Unbeaten in any competition this

:39:19. > :39:24.year, including three Diamond League events. And she does it again. That

:39:24. > :39:30.is the last throw of the competition. I think she is over six

:39:30. > :39:38.to four metres. Just below what she achieved. In fact, it is in excess

:39:38. > :39:43.of what she achieved in round one. The American champion will finish

:39:43. > :39:50.second and Anna Rueh of Germany, moving up into third place. The

:39:50. > :40:00.discus event, in world terms, is all about this lady. Perkovic, sexy four

:40:00. > :40:00.

:40:00. > :40:06.metres once again. Six to 4.32. -- 64 metres. Dani Samuels, the former

:40:06. > :40:15.World Champion, in fourth. Jade Lally finishes her first Diamond

:40:15. > :40:20.League event in eighth place. Our camera at the top of the

:40:20. > :40:25.200-metre start, looking back towards that straight where the

:40:25. > :40:30.crowd are enjoying the sunshine. They will have a brilliant view not

:40:30. > :40:34.only people at the start of 1500 metres. A field of 15, including a

:40:34. > :40:39.pacemaker. Very much a chance for British athletes to get something

:40:39. > :40:49.out of this. David Bishop, Chris O'Hare, Lee Emanuel. All here and

:40:49. > :40:55.

:40:55. > :40:59.Lee Emanuel based in the US. -- O'Hare. The bronze-medallist, a

:40:59. > :41:09.threat. And Charlie Grice, who ran so well last year at the European

:41:09. > :41:12.

:41:12. > :41:22.Championships, given an opportunity. For the British contingent, the

:41:22. > :41:28.target is 3.35. Charlie Grice has been very close to the B standard.

:41:28. > :41:31.He ran very well in this kind of field three weeks ago. And then that

:41:32. > :41:39.second place shows that he is drawing up very fast. Henrik

:41:39. > :41:49.Ingebrigtsen, who had a lot of pressure put upon him. And this lad

:41:49. > :42:10.

:42:10. > :42:16.has been a surprise, and what a. He these British guys, Lee Emanuel,

:42:16. > :42:26.Chris O'Hare, based in the States. And David Bishop, who ran the three

:42:26. > :42:32.

:42:32. > :42:37.Australian championship holder. It is not going to be run at a crazy

:42:37. > :42:44.pace. It will hopefully be run at a pace that they will be able to sit

:42:44. > :42:54.with through the first 800. I did not mention Bob Tari, you would have

:42:54. > :42:55.

:42:55. > :43:05.seen against Mo Farah. They will settle down. They have asked for a

:43:05. > :43:06.

:43:06. > :43:16.reasonably quick pace. Looking to go through the first 400 metres in a

:43:16. > :43:21.

:43:21. > :43:31.roundabout 56 seconds. Kepler Gatt, bouncing along. -- Kiplagat. At the

:43:31. > :43:32.

:43:32. > :43:42.moment, encouraging to see that Kiplagat is not too far ahead.

:43:42. > :43:44.

:43:44. > :43:48.on. If he goes through and 56, the main field are 57, 58. Further stop

:43:48. > :43:55.in the field of the British athletes, James Shane up there, and

:43:55. > :44:05.Lee Emanuel. They are all running sensibly. James Shane has just

:44:05. > :44:14.

:44:14. > :44:24.stepped off at the back. He may be the field is bunching. Certainly,

:44:24. > :44:31.

:44:31. > :44:41.more reluctant to squeeze together. Kepler Gatt is beginning to ease up.

:44:41. > :44:52.

:44:53. > :45:02.outside. A bit of a push. Lee Emanuel almost went down. They are

:45:02. > :45:06.starting to jostle for position. Iguider leading them. Chris O'Hare

:45:06. > :45:15.getting in self-involved. Charlie Grice is in a good position on the

:45:15. > :45:23.outside. It is the other big bronze-medallist, Iguider, leading

:45:23. > :45:27.it. Still a chance for a decent time for these British athletes. If they

:45:27. > :45:36.can be strong in this last 300 metres. No one is having a go at

:45:36. > :45:39.this yet. Nobody wants to push on. 10%, still holding the lead, still

:45:39. > :45:49.with a huge opportunity to lead this. And Manuel Tay looks

:45:49. > :45:50.

:45:50. > :45:53.threatening. -- Aman Wote. Henrik Ingebrigtsen will be quick in the

:45:53. > :46:01.middle. But look at 10%, strong running from the Olympic

:46:01. > :46:11.bronze-medallist. The two of them are starting to move away. The

:46:11. > :46:12.

:46:12. > :46:21.others are left trailing. It is going to be aware and, 35.9.

:46:21. > :46:26.Mohammed Muscovy came through well. The British athletes can be -- did

:46:26. > :46:33.not have quite enough to stay with this. This guy is moving into the

:46:33. > :46:36.world-class. Iguider is maybe not at his best in 2013. I am not sure he

:46:37. > :46:41.would have enjoyed leading everyone out for that final sprint. Nothing

:46:41. > :46:46.too impressive they are but a good winner. Maybe, just maybe, a little

:46:46. > :46:54.opportunity missed by the British athletes. Chris O'Hare, he was

:46:54. > :47:00.coming around white, just outside the B standard. But he was forced

:47:00. > :47:08.rather wide. It was a good chance for the British athletes, but just

:47:08. > :47:16.not quite with enough for the B standard. 10%controlled the race

:47:16. > :47:26.from the front. Holding off ten Simak around the final bend. -- Aman

:47:26. > :47:33.

:47:33. > :47:40.Wote. But just with nothing left in get the standard, this sort of

:47:40. > :47:43.race, this would be a heat, a soft semi-final. If the guys are going to

:47:44. > :47:49.get selection, it looks like we will end up with maybe one of them

:47:49. > :47:53.getting the B standard. But these are the sort of races you have to be

:47:53. > :48:03.competitive in. In the last 300 metres. Some of them have some

:48:03. > :48:21.

:48:21. > :48:28.Will confirm the form results later on. Let's talk more positively, we

:48:28. > :48:30.have not had a chance to recap on the it 400-metre hurdles race. This

:48:30. > :48:36.competition between Eilidh Child and Perri Shakes-Drayton, how how

:48:36. > :48:40.did it is to have a protagonist, you compete against regularly, what

:48:40. > :48:45.difference does that make? It may seem more focused and shop. It

:48:45. > :48:50.makes the great battle. -- it makes you more focused and shop. Eight --

:48:50. > :48:55.Eilidh Child came out second, but it is great to see her improving,

:48:55. > :49:01.with a personal best yet again. S we look at their performances, very

:49:01. > :49:05.solid and focused. Perri Shakes- Drayton just looks strong, she has

:49:05. > :49:08.performed remarkably well this season. She has a win in Oslo, on

:49:08. > :49:12.the flat last week, she put paid to the flat last week, she put paid to

:49:12. > :49:15.any rumours that she was toying with the idea that she might run on

:49:16. > :49:20.the flat and abandon the hurdles. That is definitely not go on --

:49:20. > :49:26.going to happen. Be realistic and positive, are we talking gold medal

:49:26. > :49:31.contenders? I really do think that Perri Shakes-Drayton learned a lot

:49:31. > :49:35.at the Olympics. She had a fantastic personal best in London,

:49:35. > :49:40.went into those games with higher expectations. Fast times do not

:49:40. > :49:44.always bring results. She knows she has to race smart in her lead-up to

:49:44. > :49:45.Rio and in Moscow. I think both of them have learnt a lot about

:49:46. > :49:52.them have learnt a lot about consistencies, and their rules,

:49:52. > :49:56.they have to let -- racing at that level, it is about running well.

:49:56. > :50:01.Someone very wise says that you cannot be successful and not get

:50:01. > :50:04.those bad times, and she has really use that, she has gone through a

:50:04. > :50:09.good indoor season and come out looking very strong. People feed of

:50:09. > :50:13.her enthusiasm. Absolutely, she has made a brilliant change to her

:50:14. > :50:23.training structure, she has face in her coach. Together they plan out

:50:24. > :50:26.

:50:26. > :50:31.what they want to achieve in the season. One of the past -- sees --

:50:31. > :50:37.performances, Jessica Judd, you know the people will be watching

:50:37. > :50:41.her for a long time. 18 year-old Jessica Judd going for

:50:41. > :50:46.Great Britain. She is good, very good. And is only going to get

:50:46. > :50:49.better as her career progresses. She is so strong, this is what she

:50:49. > :50:59.can do. This will be a brilliant victory for the 18 year-old! She

:50:59. > :50:59.

:51:00. > :51:03.gets it! Brilliant performance from Jessica Judd.

:51:03. > :51:09.Steve, I know you have known about her for a long time, you have seen

:51:09. > :51:12.the promised, what is the season about for her? I think, Gabby, she

:51:13. > :51:17.is dictating her own season. You probably would have said for her

:51:17. > :51:22.this season was a consolidating as the youngster, getting the feel and

:51:23. > :51:25.the chance to go into one of these races and maybe get selected for

:51:25. > :51:28.the World Championships. As the season has progressed, she came out

:51:28. > :51:32.with a bang at the beginning of the year. She's getting better in front

:51:32. > :51:36.of our very eyes and adding to adjust her own expectations. I know

:51:36. > :51:46.that she is extremely ambitious, so I know she will have her eyes on

:51:46. > :51:54.

:51:54. > :52:04.making that team for Moscow. I will Judd, let's make sure we do not

:52:04. > :52:09.

:52:09. > :52:15.heed to much expectation on her she is now based in the States. She

:52:15. > :52:25.is doing well. Fantu Magiso and Yelena Kotulskaya will be the big

:52:25. > :52:26.

:52:26. > :52:36.threat. It is a shame that she was not selected last year, she was

:52:36. > :52:39.

:52:39. > :52:48.plagued with a rib injury last year. Emma, the best this year. Sharing a

:52:48. > :52:51.lame, Yvonne Hak, it is her birthday today. She is 27. There is

:52:51. > :52:55.Marilyn Okoro, it seems as though her major injury problems are

:52:55. > :53:00.behind her. She seems to have got to the bottom of her problems, she

:53:00. > :53:03.says she is really enjoying have training again, full of enthusiasm.

:53:03. > :53:09.I do not know how much more enthusiasm you can have as an 18

:53:09. > :53:14.year-old, bouncing around on the start-line, raring to go. Fast

:53:14. > :53:23.becoming a new hero for British Athletic fans to cheer. Yelena

:53:23. > :53:31.Kotulskaya, the European indoor silver-medallist. She ran a pretty

:53:31. > :53:37.quick 1.59 0.6, a good time. What if the news of her progress towards

:53:37. > :53:45.the World. Lea Wallace, yet to break two minutes in her career.

:53:45. > :53:55.Fantu Magiso, talking about old pals, she is now coach to buy the

:53:55. > :53:55.

:53:55. > :53:59.15 meet -- 1500 metre champion in 1987. She has had good foam 4th --

:53:59. > :54:06.form. Laura Crowe as the pacemaker job, she has been asked to run 58

:54:06. > :54:13.for the past -- first lap. Kelly Hetherington, the Australian

:54:13. > :54:21.champion, joining her. Jessica Judd, her instincts are, get in front,

:54:21. > :54:27.dictate the race. That is what her junior career was around, she has a

:54:27. > :54:37.cigarette into her senior career for us -- she that has carried on

:54:37. > :54:41.

:54:41. > :54:45.Jessica Judd behind her in third, Kelly Hetherington in 4th. So the

:54:45. > :54:55.pacemaker is leading them out, nice and steady, nothing too silly. They

:54:55. > :54:55.

:54:55. > :54:58.are able to slot in behind her. Leading the charge, Marilyn Okoro.

:54:58. > :55:04.Two minutes flat is the standard for qualification, the pacemaker

:55:04. > :55:11.has to take them to 50 seconds in 400 metres. Just a little bit of a

:55:11. > :55:19.gap to Jessica Judd, and Fantu Magiso. The anyone to go with a

:55:19. > :55:28.pacemaker at the moment is Marilyn Okoro. Jessica Judd was about 59

:55:28. > :55:36.seconds. She will be pleased that Fantu Magiso has moved past I have.

:55:36. > :55:39.Marilyn Okoro has been in good form. She is really pushing on, she did

:55:39. > :55:44.not want to allow the others to close the gap as the pacemaker

:55:44. > :55:49.slows down. Starting to look a little bit tighter now, with

:55:49. > :55:55.Marilyn Okoro, Jessica Judd just there, Yvonne Hak behind them. What

:55:55. > :55:59.they are spread out around the top bend, no sign of Yelena Kotulskaya.

:55:59. > :56:04.Look at Jessica Judd, started to get ready to attack. She is so

:56:04. > :56:08.strong, this youngster. Malin opera is starting to tire. Is is going to

:56:08. > :56:13.be another great day for Jessica Judd was back here she comes.

:56:13. > :56:20.Jessica Judd, two weeks in a row, was a champion, and it is under two

:56:20. > :56:26.minutes! She is off to Moscow. I am pretty sure of that. 18 years of

:56:27. > :56:31.age. Just missing out on the British junior record, she was so

:56:31. > :56:35.close. Less than a 10th of a second. That does not matter, she will get

:56:35. > :56:41.faster. She will continue to get better. But what a racing brain she

:56:41. > :56:46.has, what a race craft she has got. In amongst some really world-class

:56:46. > :56:50.athletes here. She judged it perfectly. A good first lap, around

:56:50. > :56:55.59 seconds, and the strength of this young lady, I promise you, it

:56:55. > :57:00.will be great at 800 metres, and one day it will be great at 1500 as

:57:00. > :57:04.well. Today, another great victory there she will be able to look back

:57:04. > :57:08.on. And at this point, you have got so have the confidence to know you

:57:08. > :57:13.are going to run them down in the home straight. That is the thing,

:57:13. > :57:19.her tenderness of youth, she was not drawn in, worried about going

:57:19. > :57:22.with Marilyn opera. I love the different statue -- stature of them,

:57:22. > :57:26.Marilyn is a much more different athlete. But Jessica Judd knew she

:57:26. > :57:32.had that strength and the end, that is the greatest thing about her,

:57:32. > :57:36.the composure that she had. going to put in a word from Marilyn.

:57:36. > :57:43.-- I am going to put in a word for Marilyn. She led them out there,

:57:43. > :57:47.gave them something to run at. She will continue to get batter and she

:57:47. > :57:51.-- better and it would be great to have the two of them, Marilyn Okoro

:57:51. > :57:55.and the precocious talent of Jessica Judd. I know her former

:57:55. > :57:59.coach Jeremy will be watching and enjoying this. Marked Denmark is

:57:59. > :58:03.doing a great job, her current coach, nurturing this talent. It is

:58:03. > :58:07.about picking the right races, building her confidence. Just

:58:07. > :58:14.seeing whether she can step up another level. She did it last week,

:58:14. > :58:17.and she has done it again. And she loved watching these pictures back!

:58:18. > :58:22.When she gets back someone will have taped all of this for her

:58:22. > :58:31.tonight. What a moment. Under two minutes for the first time in your

:58:31. > :58:35.career, it is great, but when Jessica is just wandering around,

:58:35. > :58:38.making sure that she keeps moving, does not want to stiffen up. It is

:58:38. > :58:42.great to see you, running just a fraction outside the qualifying

:58:42. > :58:49.time. You went for it for the time -- from the start, and a light to

:58:49. > :58:53.do that. Definitely, a it has been the most hectic three months.

:58:53. > :58:58.have been working hard, get a lot of my races were on tired legs, I

:58:58. > :59:04.was behind with my training. I have got a few races to get ready now.

:59:04. > :59:10.It is nice to be back home. I got a little bit lost of concentration --

:59:11. > :59:14.and lost it at a concentration on the home straight. We only got off

:59:14. > :59:18.the brain a couple of days ago. These young guns are coming. I did

:59:18. > :59:23.not even know if I was going to race at all this season's I am

:59:24. > :59:29.really happy, my injury is under control. My new coach, I have a new

:59:29. > :59:37.set up, and they love the crowd here. I will let you were worn down,

:59:38. > :59:40.good luck with the trials. Let's bring you in for the quick word,

:59:40. > :59:47.another fantastic performance. Another under two-minute

:59:47. > :59:51.performance. I am so have become I have been saying, I need to do it.

:59:51. > :59:54.It suddenly occurred to me I have to do it! I got two sessions in

:59:55. > :00:01.after gaze had richer was really happy about, I worked really hard

:00:01. > :00:10.for that. -- after gates -- Gateshead which I was really happy

:00:10. > :00:15.were about. The crowd my ex me a bit emotional, last of which --

:00:15. > :00:20.last year, no one really knew who I was. It is good to see them

:00:20. > :00:28.cheering. Marilynn ran a great race today. My distinct -- distance

:00:28. > :00:35.running is going great. We will see whatever happens, in the trials, in

:00:35. > :00:45.Moscow, so fantastic it, well done. Thank you, thank you to my coach

:00:45. > :00:46.

:00:46. > :00:51.Cross Country Championships and she was 13, she said that then. It is

:00:51. > :01:00.great to see, a new personal message, -- personal best. -- she

:01:00. > :01:10.stood out when she was just 13. Let's just tidy up the men's 1500,

:01:10. > :01:27.

:01:27. > :01:35.likes throwing in Great Britain. Fears of big American, he is always

:01:35. > :01:39.one of the best in the world. And that his long, very long. It is

:01:39. > :01:45.getting to around 21 metres of their about. He has also cuts a

:01:45. > :01:47.team-mate in the contribution -- competition, Ryan Whiting, their

:01:47. > :01:53.arch-rivals. Ryan Whiting won the US championships and Reese Hoffa

:01:53. > :02:03.were second. So it he would be anxious to get something long here.

:02:03. > :02:22.

:02:22. > :02:32.every do of the Olympic final from last year. -- a do over of the

:02:32. > :02:58.

:02:58. > :03:07.gold-medal! They can hardly believe Greene is fronting a very strong

:03:07. > :03:16.field. He almost graced the Ludwig final last year. Five of the top six

:03:16. > :03:19.from London are here. He had a brief appearance in the indoor season.

:03:20. > :03:25.Felix Sanchez, the champion, do not look for too much from him. He has

:03:25. > :03:35.had a delayed start to the season. Rhys Williams, in fine form, Elaine

:03:35. > :03:42.seven. -- in that lane seven. The Japanese athlete in the rain one,

:03:43. > :03:46.Suguimati, whose personal best is 67 -- 40.67. Cluster that this season.

:03:46. > :03:56.An upside down name, but he does anything else right, manager Kas

:03:56. > :04:10.

:04:10. > :04:20.champion with a gap of eight years between them. The comeback of the

:04:20. > :04:21.

:04:21. > :04:28.year at his emotional victory in London. And Dai Greene, a double

:04:28. > :04:31.hernia operation on March the 19th. He has come back very quickly. His

:04:31. > :04:37.career has plateaued since then. Perhaps this is the man to beat,

:04:37. > :04:47.Michael Tinsley. Five wins out of five this season. He won the US

:04:47. > :04:50.

:04:50. > :04:55.Championships as well. They always had banded figure of Javier Culson.

:04:55. > :05:02.Bronze medallist in the Olympic final. Cash always with a headband,

:05:02. > :05:07.Javier Culson. And Rhys Williams, lowering his personal best to 48.90

:05:07. > :05:13.this season. And making up the line-up from Trinidad and Tobago,

:05:13. > :05:23.Jehue Gordon, sixth in the Ludwig final. Arrived on the scene as a

:05:23. > :05:31.

:05:31. > :05:35.from Batman. I'm not sure if he knows either. Felix Sanchez, his

:05:35. > :05:45.first robber race of the season. He has raced indoors, but has had some

:05:45. > :06:02.

:06:02. > :06:09.injury keeping him off the track. quickly but Jane Gordon is inside

:06:09. > :06:17.him. Evenly split at the moment. Javier Culson begin to close down on

:06:17. > :06:26.research Williams. -- Rhys Williams. Dai Greene, trying to keep pace. At

:06:26. > :06:31.the moment, Jehue Gordon going well. Javier Culson in lane six. Rising

:06:31. > :06:37.first on every hurdle and powering away at the moment. Jehue Gordon,

:06:37. > :06:42.trying to stay with him. Dai Greene, looking for a strong finish. Rhys

:06:42. > :06:47.Williams in third at the moment. Tinsley is going to be beaten for

:06:47. > :06:57.the first time this season. Javier Culson is slowing slightly but he

:06:57. > :07:04.will win it. Very good run for Rhys Williams to beat some other company.

:07:04. > :07:08.We knew this was a tough field. The world medallist, the Olympic

:07:08. > :07:16.medallist, and Rhys is the reigning Olympic -- European champion. What a

:07:17. > :07:19.return to form. I think that time was under 45 seconds for him. He has

:07:20. > :07:29.already set his personal best this year. He has managed to do that

:07:29. > :07:34.again. He has run 48.93. That is a good, solid second best performance.

:07:34. > :07:39.Javier Culson looking strong. Absolutely. Rhys Williams new that

:07:39. > :07:43.he had Javier Culson inside of him. It is was difficult in the outer

:07:43. > :07:48.lanes. You can hear the footsteps and you know that people are coming

:07:48. > :07:57.past year. But he faced that well. The most important thing is to stay

:07:57. > :08:03.in your own rhythm. It can be very distracting when you have the

:08:03. > :08:06.world's best flying inside or outside of you. He was rewarded with

:08:06. > :08:10.his second best time ever. A great performance. Dai Greene trying to

:08:10. > :08:16.keep race. We know he has been struggling since that hernia

:08:16. > :08:20.operation. He has a little bit still to do. He has scar tissue to

:08:20. > :08:27.overcome. But Javier Culson, even he was beginning to feel the pace.

:08:27. > :08:32.Jehue Gordon... Rhys Williams, very Jehue Gordon... Rhys Williams, very

:08:32. > :08:38.strong finish. Let us hear from the man who just pipped him to second

:08:38. > :08:43.place. A world-class field and a second place finish on a day like

:08:43. > :08:46.today hardly gets much better. I know you always want to win but this

:08:46. > :08:50.was a fantastic performance. I am pleased with the day. I felt that I

:08:50. > :08:54.was going to win it at one stage. I felt Javier Culson coming back

:08:54. > :08:59.towards me. A positive race. have gone up a notch this year, it

:08:59. > :09:02.seems. What did last year teach you that you have taken forward? I think

:09:02. > :09:10.I have learned that I need to run quicker because they do not like

:09:10. > :09:18.losing! Do not ask the difficult questions. It has gone in the right

:09:18. > :09:22.direction. What is next few? Trials, Moscow? -- next for you. Richard

:09:22. > :09:30.Championships in two weeks time. Hopefully I will be able to get up

:09:30. > :09:32.there quicker because I know I can run quicker I just have to do it.

:09:32. > :09:36.All going well for Rhys Williams. All going well for Rhys Williams.

:09:36. > :09:44.That is the that Dai Greene has lost to another British athlete since the

:09:44. > :09:54.2008 Olympic trials. Javier Culson, the winner. Michael Tinsley third

:09:54. > :09:56.

:09:56. > :10:04.and Rhys Williams, well-placed. This took place a little while ago. Four

:10:04. > :10:07.metres 73 was the target for Yarisley Silva. Slightly

:10:07. > :10:11.overshadowed over the last few months by the American who won the

:10:11. > :10:20.Olympic title. But since then, she has risen to third on the all-time

:10:21. > :10:23.list. She was looking very good for first place here. She impressed

:10:23. > :10:29.everybody in the big stadium last year. She only lost to the American,

:10:29. > :10:36.Jenny sewer, on the number of failure is accrued during the whole

:10:36. > :10:42.of the competition. -- Suhr. Technically, she is very good. Very

:10:42. > :10:44.powerful. Looking superb here in Birmingham. This is a stadium which

:10:44. > :10:51.has seen its fair share of world-class goal halting in the

:10:51. > :10:55.past. There is the complete results. She beat a former World Champion in

:10:55. > :11:04.Fabiana Murer, by ten centimetres. Jennifer Suhr finished in third. But

:11:04. > :11:07.no doubt about the Cuban winner. They are setting the hurdles for the

:11:07. > :11:13.women's 100 metres. What a strong line-up that is. Great Britain's

:11:13. > :11:14.Tiffany Porter will be the with some strong American representation. Many

:11:14. > :11:15.strong American representation. Many people here are interested to see

:11:15. > :11:19.strong American representation. Many people here are interested the

:11:19. > :11:22.Australian. She raced a few days ago, but that was only her first

:11:22. > :11:32.race in 11 months. She battled with injury through the winter but she is

:11:32. > :11:35.

:11:35. > :11:45.A great run by Pearson, continuing to prevail in these races.

:11:45. > :11:50.Sensational stuff! That is fantastic. Sally Pearson of

:11:50. > :11:52.Australia! Gold, and a new Olympic record! Sally, you are back. How do

:11:52. > :11:55.record! Sally, you are back. How do you assess what happened in

:11:55. > :12:04.Austria? I am really pleased and relieved as well. I was quite

:12:04. > :12:07.nervous and I had a personal best reaction time-out of the blocks. I

:12:07. > :12:13.was excited that that was over. I came away with my fastest ever

:12:13. > :12:17.opening time. It is good to be back. Given that feeling of relief, was it

:12:17. > :12:24.a difficult decision to decide when to come back? Was there an element

:12:24. > :12:28.of being done shy? Most definitely. -- gun shy. When I tore my hamstring

:12:28. > :12:32.for the second time, I cried and cried for hours and hours after

:12:32. > :12:35.doing it cos I thought that my season was over. I could not believe

:12:35. > :12:42.it had happened to me a second time. Obviously, that was irrational

:12:42. > :12:45.thinking. I guess you sleep on it and you wake up and you go through

:12:45. > :12:52.what has happened and how it is feeling the next day. You do all the

:12:52. > :12:57.right things, and you compress and elevate, and the next day it felt

:12:58. > :13:00.quite good. And then you think, when can I race again? You have run

:13:00. > :13:06.quickly in Birmingham before. Was that a factor in your decision to

:13:06. > :13:11.come here again? After we decided that we would put more competitions

:13:11. > :13:16.in, yes. I knew I had run fast two years ago. I ran Australian

:13:16. > :13:22.racketeer. I love running in England because the crowd or so

:13:22. > :13:28.knowledgeable about sport. And they have a little fan base here. I have

:13:28. > :13:32.an uncle driving up to see me. -- I have a little fan base here. It is

:13:33. > :13:40.great that they can come and see me. It is one of those things, there is

:13:40. > :13:47.a buzz around England. I always love coming here.

:13:47. > :13:51.So, Sally Pearson with one or two questions about whether she can take

:13:51. > :13:57.on Dawn Harper-Nelson and Kellie on Dawn Harper-Nelson and Kellie

:13:57. > :14:07.Wells. The field she beat the other night was not of that sort of

:14:07. > :14:10.

:14:10. > :14:20.quality but she did get into the 12.6s, which was good. Is she close

:14:20. > :14:42.

:14:42. > :14:50.to getting back to her best? We will finishing in sixth. Next to her,

:14:50. > :14:54.third in that race, but not getting close to Sally, Andrea Bliss, the

:14:54. > :15:02.silver-medallist in the Jamaican Championships this year. And Dawn

:15:02. > :15:07.Harper-Nelson, who actually did not have two contest the final at the

:15:07. > :15:17.American Championships. She is the Diamond League champion for last

:15:17. > :15:26.

:15:26. > :15:30.year. And Tiffany Porter, who took the victory in Oslo. A big day for

:15:30. > :15:35.Sally Pearson. As you heard in that interview, the track where two years

:15:35. > :15:45.ago she ran 12.48. She went on to become the World Champion and deal

:15:45. > :15:50.

:15:50. > :15:55.with the champion last year. Kellie Wells was not too far-away either.

:15:55. > :16:05.She was out of the top three and will not go to Moscow. Kristi

:16:05. > :16:24.

:16:24. > :16:31.and you do not even come -- if you run a time of 12.34 and you do not

:16:31. > :16:37.come in the top three, you're in trouble. In the absence of Jess

:16:37. > :16:47.Ennis, Tiffany Porter is our number one. She will try to try and give

:16:47. > :17:06.

:17:06. > :17:10.Sally Pearson to say something to the best one. Dawn Harper is

:17:10. > :17:15.leading, here comes Sally Pearson but she's not going to get this.

:17:15. > :17:21.Kellie Wells almost gets there, but Dawn Harper gets the wind from

:17:21. > :17:26.Kellie Wells. The two Americans coming on top, it is not often

:17:27. > :17:34.since we have seen Sally Pearce and beat him. We know she is not as --

:17:34. > :17:39.Sally Pearson beat him. We know that she is not at her best. A good

:17:39. > :17:48.start, not since raising from anyone. I think by hurdle number

:17:48. > :17:54.three, Harper Nelson had the advantage. In the women's hurdles,

:17:55. > :18:01.there is always a blanket finish. They are always very tight indeed.

:18:01. > :18:04.What we are used to seeing from Sally Pearson, is an explosive

:18:05. > :18:13.start. But his touch is lacking, her sprinting speed is not as quick

:18:13. > :18:17.as we used to seeing. But, you know, Dawn Harper, she is strong, she has

:18:17. > :18:22.been Olympic champion. She just lost out in the title last year as

:18:22. > :18:29.well. Let's have a look at these two athletes. Technically, I would

:18:29. > :18:33.say Sally Pearson is virtually flawless. You ask a young athlete

:18:33. > :18:37.to copy a hurdler, you always point to Sally Pearson. In contrast, you

:18:37. > :18:45.can see that Tiffany Porter with her trail leg, it is slow, she has

:18:45. > :18:48.to force it over the barriers. Sally is far more fluid. All of

:18:48. > :18:57.these women are very aggressive into the barrier, a snappy on the

:18:57. > :19:00.league lead -- lead leg. The focus as the drive towards a lion. But

:19:00. > :19:10.what this Dick, they come off the final barrier, dawn it really

:19:10. > :19:19.

:19:19. > :19:24.What about that performance? It was rough, I was so tired from

:19:24. > :19:29.travelling, but I thought, just focus and you can execute.

:19:29. > :19:34.seemed in control, Kellie Wells came in control -- you seemed in

:19:34. > :19:38.control, Kellie Wells came close but you're in front all the way.

:19:38. > :19:43.realised as I came out that this was the rematch from the Olympics.

:19:43. > :19:51.I was excited to get back together and show the fans what 1, 2, 3

:19:51. > :19:56.looks like. What has been going on in America, it is crazy! 100-metre

:19:56. > :20:04.hurdles every step up in the America, -- they every step up in

:20:04. > :20:10.America, so I am looking forward to going to Moscow to show everyone.

:20:10. > :20:20.So, three out of three as far as a Diamond League wins for Dawn

:20:20. > :20:30.

:20:30. > :20:37.four points for winning the Diamond League, so she has won all three

:20:37. > :20:44.events she has competed in. Tiffany Porter his second place with five

:20:44. > :20:53.points. Very early stages of the men's high

:20:53. > :21:00.jump, Robbie Grabarz, this should be routine. And it is. Parsons also

:21:00. > :21:06.clear at this height. Robbie Grabarz has been struggling with

:21:06. > :21:13.injury. It has not been quite the year it that Robbie would have

:21:13. > :21:22.anticipated post his Olympic bronze medal. But he is clear on his

:21:22. > :21:26.opening height. The Czech athlete has have a great

:21:26. > :21:36.day here today in the shot put. A glider as opposed to someone who

:21:36. > :21:40.

:21:40. > :21:45.rotate with a shot. That is over 20 metres again, his last throw. This

:21:45. > :21:48.is his last -- best Diamond League performance ever. European Indoor

:21:48. > :21:53.League medallists this season, he has been in good shape, but he

:21:53. > :21:56.shows such consistency. Could be a danger by the time we get to the

:21:56. > :22:00.world championships. A good performance.

:22:00. > :22:07.Reese Hoffa's nearest rival Ryan Whiting could not put out to the

:22:07. > :22:12.last round, so it is left to Reese Hoffa to finish up in first with

:22:12. > :22:18.maximum Diamond League.. He had a monster Fowler the first. That is

:24:41. > :24:47.season is Stephenie McPherson, working harder in the gym, now free

:24:47. > :24:57.of hamstring problems, which have rather shackled her of late. And

:24:57. > :25:00.

:25:01. > :25:05.then on the outside, Ebonie Floyd. I wonder about Christine Ohuruogu,

:25:05. > :25:09.because three times in her career, she has been below 50 seconds.

:25:09. > :25:16.World championship final, Olympics finals, she reserves her best for

:25:16. > :25:22.the big occasions. She has won once in the Diamond League, but that was

:25:23. > :25:26.on UK soil at Crystal Palace last year. Amantle Montsho seems to have

:25:26. > :25:36.a diamond lead cracked. I wonder what Christine Ohuruogu will get

:25:36. > :26:00.

:26:00. > :26:04.blocks, Christine Ohuruogu, and she will finish strongly, that is her

:26:04. > :26:08.trademark. Very quick on the outside, Natasha Hastings, just a

:26:08. > :26:14.figure in the distance to Christine Ohuruogu. She time -- times it well.

:26:14. > :26:17.It is still Hastings out there in the paint in lane five. Amantle

:26:17. > :26:23.Montsho is easing her weight past Christine Ohuruogu, it is going to

:26:33. > :26:38.just yet. Here she comes, does she have something left in the tank?

:26:38. > :26:41.She is just in second place at the moment. Holding up Natasha Hastings.

:26:41. > :26:49.Closing down now on a Amantle Montsho. Here comes Christine

:26:49. > :26:56.Ohuruogu. She gets it, 50.64, the time. But the timing, more

:26:56. > :27:00.importantly, was perfect from Christine Ohuruogu. Well, everybody

:27:00. > :27:05.in his commentary box was jumping up and down. I do not know how you

:27:05. > :27:13.manage to stay calm! Boy, what a tremendous finish, yet again by

:27:13. > :27:18.Christine Ohuruogu. Amantle Montsho beaten for the first time this year.

:27:18. > :27:24.She says it for the home fans, Christine Ohuruogu. A smile there,

:27:24. > :27:29.breaks out amid the of exhaustion. A decent time, but more importantly,

:27:29. > :27:33.it is the way she judges her race. The most important time is taking

:27:33. > :27:39.the victory. It is about the 400- metre ground. Christina has always

:27:39. > :27:44.judged it, at major championships, at -- remarkably well. She always

:27:44. > :27:49.keeps come under the stress and the pressure, she allows athletes to

:27:49. > :27:54.hurtle off, come close to her. She keeps her game plan. Pacing it well.

:27:54. > :27:59.It is about now, 150 metres to go, she does not do a massive kick, I

:27:59. > :28:03.would say she winds herself up. Which comes down to the home

:28:11. > :28:17.come alive because you can fill us of closing. And with every single

:28:17. > :28:27.step, she knows she is going that, metres from Amantle Montsho, and

:28:27. > :28:28.

:28:28. > :28:31.watch that, 100 the the second. -- one hundredth of a second. She was

:28:31. > :28:36.part in the back straight by Amantle Montsho, but returned the

:28:36. > :28:40.favour. She has such power down the home straight. It is great to see

:28:40. > :28:43.her going under 50 seconds so much. She has had a few dodgy

:28:43. > :28:51.performances, but do not worry about it, she is in two excellent

:28:51. > :28:54.shape. It will be interesting if Perri Shakes-Drayton decides to not

:28:54. > :29:04.go into the hurdles and go head-to- head with Christine, interesting

:29:04. > :29:07.What timing as ever by Christine, the crowd gave you a great cheer.

:29:07. > :29:15.And it gave them a great performance in return. Yes, it is

:29:15. > :29:19.always great to have the home crowd it, it is great from Gateshead and

:29:19. > :29:23.it is great to have the cheering you on. You seem to be in perfect

:29:23. > :29:29.shape right now. Moscow are not too far away and you are building in

:29:29. > :29:37.increments all the way. But his tie you have to look at it. You do not

:29:37. > :29:42.once -- you do not want to be completely championship ready. The

:29:42. > :29:48.30 you are, the more likely you are to get hurt, as sick or fatigue. It

:29:48. > :29:58.is a build up to Moscow. Today was brilliant, we look forward to it

:29:58. > :30:06.

:30:06. > :30:10.took more from the trials and the men's long jump, it is the

:30:10. > :30:20.Olympic champion, the first Englishman to ever jump -- when

:30:20. > :30:24.

:30:24. > :30:29.that, Greg Rutherford. Good speed. Round about eight metres. A lot of

:30:34. > :30:38.he is struggling a little bit with injury, the back of his knee.

:30:38. > :30:44.he said he had quite a lot of swelling at the back of third knee,

:30:44. > :30:47.I am not sure which me it his. You can imagine since the Olympic final,

:30:47. > :30:51.it has been a whirlwind of appearances and everything else. He

:30:51. > :31:01.is still training hard, he still wants to jump young best jump long,

:31:01. > :31:10.

:31:10. > :31:15.Robbie Grabarz. He needs to start stepping up his season. Slightly

:31:15. > :31:20.disappointing indoors. A bit like Greg Rutherford, maybe the impact

:31:20. > :31:29.that it has, standing on top of the rostrum. In this case, the bronze

:31:29. > :31:39.medal position in a home all of the Games. It takes some time to adjust,

:31:39. > :31:41.

:31:41. > :31:46.get your motivation back. Tom Parsons, though, yes. Actually, he

:31:46. > :31:53.heads the British rankings with two metres and 28 and metres. His third

:31:54. > :32:02.clearance. He will go on. Confirmation of that 400 metres.

:32:02. > :32:12.Christine Ohuruogu, victorious on home soil. Novlene Williams-Mills

:32:12. > :32:19.

:32:19. > :32:24.event on the track. A cracking race in store. Once again, we will get

:32:25. > :32:34.the chance to see Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, they all of the

:32:34. > :32:41.champion. -- the Olympic champion. Fraser-Pryce, what a competitor!

:32:41. > :32:51.two of them, lots together. Here comes, Lena Jeter -- Carmelita

:32:51. > :32:52.

:32:52. > :32:56.Jeter! Three hundredths of a second Jeter! Three hundredths of a second

:32:56. > :33:00.behind Shelley and Jason -- Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. She is an

:33:00. > :33:05.aggressive competitor and she brings out the best in me. Of course, there

:33:05. > :33:14.are attributes about her that I really respect. She has high knees,

:33:14. > :33:20.and I admire how she runs. I'm looking forward to doing the next

:33:20. > :33:24.200 metres with her. I want to come out on top, so that is the aim!

:33:24. > :33:34.is good to line up with the best people running. You always want to

:33:34. > :33:36.

:33:36. > :33:40.line up with the best. It brings out that extra urge. It puts my mindset

:33:40. > :33:44.where it needs to be, facing the best in the world. And missing, of

:33:44. > :33:52.course, from the world Championships, Veronica

:33:52. > :33:59.Campbell-Brown. What has been the reaction in Jamaica? I cannot speak

:33:59. > :34:02.for her because I think the agency is dealing with that. But now I am

:34:02. > :34:10.just focusing on the run in the 200 metres, and just having a good time.

:34:10. > :34:13.It is unfortunate, but I need to keep the focus. I think in my case,

:34:13. > :34:23.I took a painkiller because genuinely I had a tooth problem and

:34:23. > :34:26.I had a procedure done before I flew to China. I can only speak for

:34:26. > :34:35.myself. It was unfortunate and it made me more aware that I should be

:34:35. > :34:40.more responsible with painkillers. more responsible with painkillers.

:34:40. > :34:45.But it happened and I am past that. Yes, there have been reverberations

:34:45. > :34:49.with the pending suspension, and the investigation goes on forever. I am

:34:49. > :34:56.sure we will hear more of it. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce with a tough

:34:56. > :35:04.race here. This is a high-quality 200 metres. Anyika Onuora is going

:35:04. > :35:14.for Britain on the inside. Fraser-Pryce, Simpson and Lalova.

:35:14. > :35:16.Ivet Lalova, European champion for 100 metres. Many of the Americans

:35:16. > :35:23.were at their trials when she won the Diamond League. She took

:35:23. > :35:32.advantage. And out of those Jamaican Championships, two second-places for

:35:32. > :35:34.Sharad Simson. She was beaten by Kerron Stewart. Last time we saw

:35:34. > :35:44.Carmelita Jeter on the Diamond League circuit, she pulled up

:35:44. > :35:55.

:35:55. > :35:58.sharply. This is her first major race back. She won the 100 metres,

:35:58. > :36:07.the 200 metres and the long jump. Fraser-Pryce is the quickest in the

:36:07. > :36:11.field. She ran 22.13 in Kingston in the national championships. Of

:36:11. > :36:17.course, she is the Olympic silver-medallist. There is one for

:36:17. > :36:22.the future, Anthonique Strachan, the world junior champion last year in

:36:22. > :36:32.the 100 metres and 200 metres. A massive talent. She had a great

:36:32. > :36:35.

:36:35. > :36:38.tussle with another great talent recently. Mariya Ryemyen, we saw her

:36:38. > :36:42.last week as a late replacement for her team-mate. She did brilliantly,

:36:42. > :36:49.to take the maximum points in the 200 metres. And on the inside,

:36:50. > :36:59.Anyika Onuora, having a very good year this year. Her personal best,

:37:00. > :37:05.

:37:05. > :37:09.through to the 400 metres. A very high-quality field.

:37:09. > :37:15.If Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is not at her best here, and we're not sure

:37:15. > :37:25.about Carmelita Jeter's form, with the 19-year-old insider from the

:37:25. > :37:48.

:37:48. > :37:53.19-year-old. Having a little word with her. He was happy, he was on

:37:53. > :38:03.the outside. He was not bothered. No warning. A green card to the

:38:03. > :38:03.

:38:03. > :38:45.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 55 seconds

:38:45. > :38:48.Fraser-Pryce getaway well. The Nigerian might just hang onto this.

:38:48. > :38:58.She is really strong in the last 50 metres. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is

:38:58. > :38:58.

:38:58. > :39:06.left for second. A good run from Anyika Onuora on the far side. I

:39:06. > :39:10.said at the start, this was Dutch a high-quality race, if she was not on

:39:11. > :39:17.her best form, she would get beat. -- this was such. Strachan was not

:39:17. > :39:24.far away. You have to come into these races at tiptop form. You

:39:24. > :39:27.cannot afford to be not on form. She was not good out of the blocks,

:39:27. > :39:33.Fraser-Pryce. She could not fight back in the home straight. I think

:39:33. > :39:39.you're right. I was watching closely. I do not think she was as

:39:39. > :39:46.explosive as she has been in the past. She is a power pack. We're

:39:46. > :39:52.used to seeing over metres, being very aggressive. She did not even

:39:52. > :39:59.get to the shoulder of the Nigerian. Okagbare is very positive. She has

:39:59. > :40:03.been jumping well. And she ran under 10.8, so she has a lot of leg

:40:03. > :40:07.speed. You cannot leave anything to chance. I think Fraser-Pryce it

:40:07. > :40:10.should have got onto her shoulder quicker. She should have put the

:40:10. > :40:18.Nigerian under pressure and that would've made the difference. But it

:40:18. > :40:23.was not to be. So the victory goes to the Nigerian. 22.55, that is a

:40:23. > :40:28.good time. It's OK. Given the fact that there is a following wind, the

:40:28. > :40:33.problem is that there tends to be a crosswind. I suspect around that top

:40:33. > :40:41.ends, they may well have had the wind in their face. Okagbare is

:40:41. > :40:51.strong. She was good enough to win a respectable 22.55.

:40:51. > :41:06.

:41:06. > :41:10.silver-medallist, Erik Kynard. Clearing very comfortably. Jesse

:41:10. > :41:15.Williams, the reigning World Champion, has gone out at 2.21

:41:15. > :41:25.metres. He finished ninth in the trials. Robbie Grabarz now. His

:41:25. > :41:26.

:41:26. > :41:36.first attempt. And that is good. 2.26 is his season's best. He has

:41:36. > :41:36.

:41:36. > :41:42.been 2.37 indoors. Tom Parsons, it took him three attempts to get over

:41:42. > :41:49.2.21. A very different technique. Quite a stiff upper body but the

:41:49. > :41:58.same result. The bar will go to 2.28, his season's best. That will

:41:59. > :42:03.progress. In the second round, of the men's long jump, Aleksandr

:42:03. > :42:13.Menkov. And that is the lead, without any question. He leads the

:42:13. > :42:13.

:42:13. > :42:20.world rankings. 8.39 metres. It is a very simple technique. Very bright.

:42:20. > :42:29.Taking on good core conditioning. A lot of the athletes left on

:42:29. > :42:38.takeoff, but not him. Very good conditioning. That will be a healthy

:42:39. > :42:44.lead. Over eight metres. Can Greg Rutherford respond? 7.83 metres in

:42:44. > :42:50.the first round. I was discussing with Paul, he has been struggling

:42:50. > :42:54.with injury, but he has changed his technique a little bit. He always

:42:54. > :43:03.struggles when he takes off. His body gets too far ahead of his

:43:03. > :43:10.centre of gravity. Then you cannot get a leg shoot. He is a 10.3

:43:10. > :43:16.sprinter. Sometimes he struggles to control the speed on the run-up.

:43:16. > :43:26.Remember, his Olympic winning distance was 8.31. He has jumped 8.2

:43:26. > :43:36.

:43:36. > :43:42.Okagbare are. Lower down, Anyika Onuora beat Sherone Simpson and

:43:42. > :43:45.Carmelita Jeter. She is deftly out of sorts, recovering from an injury.

:43:45. > :43:53.-- definitely. Next, the steeplechase. What a big field.

:43:54. > :43:57.Lennie Waite, standing in for McColgan at Gateshead. The Americans

:43:57. > :44:03.have had their trials now, so a lot of their athletes have come to

:44:03. > :44:13.Europe and do not have the standards when it comes to these meetings.

:44:13. > :44:40.

:44:40. > :44:44.Watch out force of the SF. And back dropped out, three or four of them

:44:44. > :44:49.stumbled over the barrier. Including Chemos. She was patient and looks

:44:49. > :44:59.back to her best actor and indifferent year last year. It was

:44:59. > :45:04.

:45:04. > :45:14.her team-mate, 10p Max, who won the first couple of leagues. --

:45:14. > :45:18.

:45:18. > :45:28.Chepkirui. Between her and Assefa, Ethiopia have three very good

:45:28. > :45:42.

:45:42. > :45:49.in America herself. She is Scottish. She will be looking forward to the

:45:49. > :45:55.Commonwealth Games next year in Glasgow. Times this summer counts

:45:55. > :46:01.towards qualifications for next summer. Because the barrier here in

:46:01. > :46:06.Birmingham is on the outside, which is rather unusual, instead of seven

:46:06. > :46:12.and a half laps plus a bit, it is just seven laps plus half the home

:46:12. > :46:17.straight. The anything that is different here is they have 50

:46:17. > :46:23.metres before there, 60 metres, before they have the first barrier.

:46:23. > :46:31.Are so many people, let's hope they negotiate this safely. Everyone is

:46:31. > :46:36.over it, Lennie Waite writer the back. -- right at the back. No one

:46:36. > :46:42.is ready ripping it up this year, but Milcah Chemos is starting to

:46:42. > :46:51.get into the sort of shape where she gets into 9.10 and below. I am

:46:51. > :47:00.not sure if anyone is too keen to go with this pace here. She is just

:47:00. > :47:10.checking behind her up there, the field is settling in. Lookout for

:47:10. > :47:25.

:47:25. > :47:29.Idlette as well, she won in Doha, round to see who is with her.

:47:29. > :47:32.Russians are very strong in this event, although they are not

:47:32. > :47:36.represented here. It will be very interesting to see who will come

:47:36. > :47:42.through between Milcah Chemos and Lidya Chepkurui, we have seen

:47:42. > :47:48.nothing of the Russians this year. Rarely, I think it is for Milcah

:47:48. > :47:52.Chemos to come and dominate. She has got the best finish when of one

:47:52. > :47:59.is running well. On occasion, she has not delivered at the

:47:59. > :48:04.championships, particularly last year, she was forced at the

:48:04. > :48:12.Olympics. She is judging this season better. Her last few races

:48:12. > :48:15.have been impressive. Lennie Waite is start as a struggle with the --

:48:15. > :48:24.starting to struggle with the pace or medieval stop she was born in

:48:24. > :48:30.Paisley, but moved to America when she was a seven. A good pace this

:48:30. > :48:33.season. The technique in both men's and women's steeplechase is

:48:33. > :48:39.something you do not really see enough of them working on, the big

:48:39. > :48:43.new talent in men's steeplechase is one who has, he tucks both legs

:48:43. > :48:49.underneath him. It is effective for him, because he attacks the

:48:49. > :48:59.barriers. More of the women into think about that. If you do not

:48:59. > :49:05.

:49:05. > :49:08.slowdown going into them, you lose we head to the field.

:49:08. > :49:18.Greg Rutherford finishing off the third round, in second place at the

:49:18. > :49:22.moment, Chris Tomlinson has three fouls, it would have been good

:49:22. > :49:28.night God bless in the championships, but as there are

:49:28. > :49:34.only eight athletes he colour he will get three more. -- only eight

:49:34. > :49:39.hit athletes here, so he will get three more. Greg Rutherford is the

:49:39. > :49:48.British rankings. That is better. He has got a white flag, I think it

:49:48. > :49:52.is over 80 metres. -- eight metres. In the last two competitions, he

:49:52. > :49:58.has been peppering the line at eight metres. A thing the anger the

:49:58. > :50:04.slightly deceptive. -- I think that angle is slightly deceptive. He is

:50:04. > :50:09.controlling his rotation better. It is not about running as fast as you

:50:09. > :50:19.can, but controlling it at take-off to get a good distance. 8.11, and

:50:19. > :50:19.

:50:19. > :50:27.good improvement. The buyer is now at 2.28, Bohdan

:50:53. > :50:57.

:50:57. > :51:04.challenge, having the bar in front season's best. He clipped it but he

:51:04. > :51:08.is over. His upper body and his hips sailed over, he kicked it with

:51:08. > :51:18.his heels. I was convinced he was going to bring it down. But it

:51:18. > :51:24.stayed up. Eric Kynard, a second attempt. That is a big beards as

:51:24. > :51:32.well. The hype -- clearance as well. A high jumpers are loving the warm

:52:05. > :52:10.but no one wants to take it on. She is wanted to take advantage of the

:52:10. > :52:19.conditions here. Lidya Chepkurui, just lotted up behind her. On the

:53:01. > :53:07.really well. She is going to try and carry on. But if she cannot

:53:10. > :53:17.to put your hand in the barriers and as she has been impeded, so she

:53:17. > :53:27.could be up for disqualification. Milcah Chemos leading, Lidya

:53:30. > :53:35.Chepkurui behind her, he what I may well -- Hiwot Ayalew of. A shame

:53:35. > :53:42.for the Australian, she has had a good season. She was heading for a

:53:42. > :53:47.good time today. Milcah Chemos, doing really tough job here. Hiwot

:53:47. > :53:54.Ayalew, I would not expect to be a kicker, but Lidya Chepkurui could

:53:54. > :53:59.be. She really needs to step on and push out of the water jug, Milcah

:53:59. > :54:03.Chemos, it is not so bad when she is not so bad when she is taking

:54:03. > :54:08.the barriers on the flat. They stutter into it. They detect Chiari

:54:18. > :54:22.

:54:22. > :54:28.have a good technique. You expect suspects. You can gain precious

:54:28. > :54:38.yards of a decent rise. Sofia Assefa is looking to make a move,

:54:38. > :54:39.

:54:39. > :54:44.despite dinner-time. Milcah Chemos, Lidya Chepkurui, first and second.

:54:59. > :55:07.Chemos. Can they turn as ever this time? Just battering again come

:55:07. > :55:14.into the water jump, Sofia Assefa or and Hiwot Ayalew are within

:55:14. > :55:21.striking distance. The two Ethiopians are right on her as

:55:21. > :55:27.shoulder. She will kick off the last barrier. Milcah Chemos

:55:27. > :55:37.stretches away again, one last thing to go through, she wins, then

:55:37. > :55:37.

:55:37. > :55:47.Sofia Assefa, then Hiwot Ayalew, then Lidya Chepkurui. The winning

:55:54. > :55:57.At the moment, Milcah Chemos is certainly on top of the women's

:55:57. > :56:07.steeplechase event. She has that ability to turn it on in the last

:56:07. > :56:17.

:56:17. > :56:22.Chepkurui, she seems to struggle with her technique on the water

:56:22. > :56:26.jumps. She almost went under in the deep end here. Milcah Chemos

:56:26. > :56:31.threatened for a moment, but she was smiling by a time she went to

:56:31. > :56:40.the lap -- last 50. Wants to admit this year to the final barrier, it

:56:40. > :56:44.was not in doubt and the celebrating could begin. Another

:56:44. > :56:54.windfall Milcah Chemos, her 14th Diamond League victory in her

:56:54. > :57:09.

:57:09. > :57:14.career. Yes, only half full seconds over, just three men left, Bohdan

:57:14. > :57:24.Bondarenko, first attempt at 2.31. But his massive! Absolutely

:57:24. > :57:27.

:57:27. > :57:30.massive! His personal best is to 33. That jumpers worth way over 2.35.

:57:30. > :57:35.Robbie Grabarz will have been watching, this will be a big

:57:35. > :57:40.improvement from his season's best, and he has got it as well! The

:57:40. > :57:50.Diamond League is bringing the sparkle out of these jumpers today.

:57:50. > :57:53.Very pleased for Robbie, but he goes Eric Kynard of the USA. An

:57:53. > :57:59.American champion, different technique but the result was the

:57:59. > :58:04.same. This is great jumping here. Certainly is. Those high jumpers

:58:04. > :58:10.are really going well. Chris Tomlinson, three fouls. He is still

:58:10. > :58:19.here because there are only eight jumpers. He has got it right on the

:58:19. > :58:25.board. Greg Rutherford is on eight metres 11, the leader is eight

:58:25. > :58:31.metres 14. Chris Tomlinson for Sophie got the a standard for

:58:31. > :58:39.Moscow, you'll be going with Greg Rutherford. It is never pretty,

:58:39. > :58:42.Kris Commons and. But it is often very effective. -- Chris Tomlinson.

:58:42. > :58:48.It is important that he has got the jump on the board, he is up to

:58:48. > :58:58.third place. The Bonnell is moving to two metres

:58:58. > :59:00.

:59:00. > :59:04.and 34. A telly what, he is in some shade. When you are in some sort of

:59:04. > :59:10.form like this, you might as well go as far as you can. It is one

:59:10. > :59:20.centimetre over his lifetime best. Can Robbie Grabarz and respond? He

:59:20. > :59:20.

:59:20. > :59:27.has done so if so far. No, what he will have two more attempts. One of

:59:27. > :59:30.the highlight of the afternoon, undoubtedly, the men's 100 metres.

:59:30. > :59:35.The heats were held earlier on, and if you were with us at the

:59:35. > :59:44.beginning of the programme, he will have seen a scintillating

:59:44. > :59:52.performance from James Dasaolu, running 10.05. Kim Collins won the

:59:52. > :59:59.first heat, in 10.13, and those two men will be taking the two central

:59:59. > :00:05.lanes, Lane's four and five. What a run it was from James, he is next

:00:05. > :00:12.to Kim Collins. Let Telek, Colin, or when athletes have performances

:00:12. > :00:15.like that, their confidence grows and you're into another sphere.

:00:15. > :00:17.This is a real true international competition and we have got to

:00:17. > :00:21.British sprinters in the final. That will fill both these guys with

:00:21. > :00:26.confidence, because they know they are in the mix with quality runners.

:00:26. > :00:31.It is going to be a tough race. There is no real clear winner for

:00:31. > :00:36.me at this moment. It is going to be close to that ten-second mark.

:00:36. > :00:46.I'm checking what the wind is doing, it is a tail wind but it is

:00:46. > :00:54.

:00:54. > :01:00.Dasaolu. It would be great to see a British victory here. 10.05 gets

:01:00. > :01:10.closer to ten seconds. Julian Forte of Jamaica, 19. 10.03, his personal

:01:10. > :01:16.

:01:16. > :01:21.best this year. James Ellington, new personal best already this year. He

:01:21. > :01:26.will need to run well at the trials. He will be pleased to have

:01:26. > :01:30.got through to the final. Kim Collins, the former World Champion.

:01:30. > :01:40.The former Commonwealth champion in 2002 in Manchester. He loves running

:01:40. > :01:41.

:01:41. > :01:50.in Britain. Coached by Steve Fudge. What a job he is doing with James

:01:50. > :01:59.Dasaolu. He had a great indoor season. Talking about indoors, this

:01:59. > :02:06.man, the prodigious 60-metre runner, Michael Rodgers. He is a good

:02:06. > :02:16.starter, obviously. Kimmari Roach of Jamaica, new name on the circuit. By

:02:16. > :02:30.

:02:30. > :02:35.Carter, key figure in the last three or four years. And Jimmy Vicaut, the

:02:35. > :02:45.European junior champion. He has continued to progress but has yet to

:02:45. > :02:48.

:02:48. > :02:58.make it under ten seconds. He is now 21. A big day for James to so --

:02:58. > :03:02.

:03:02. > :03:12.in his heat, running through the line. If the wind can help a

:03:12. > :03:41.

:03:41. > :03:51.coming up. James Dasaolu coming up. Closest to us, guess who? When you

:03:51. > :03:56.look at the start, and you think of Nesta Carter as a leader. He has not

:03:56. > :04:00.been running well, and all of a sudden, he wins a race where none of

:04:00. > :04:08.us would have respected him to win. We are looking at what is happening

:04:08. > :04:14.in the middle. With the time. Nesta Carter. He was very disappointing,

:04:14. > :04:19.10.14 in the Jamaican trials. When you think that is involved is going

:04:19. > :04:29.to win it, and Johanna Blake is injured, this sky was visited --

:04:29. > :04:30.

:04:31. > :04:37.this guy was disappointed not to get through. -- Johan Blake. Watching it

:04:37. > :04:41.from the blocks, the was a little bit of touching. James Ellington

:04:42. > :04:46.blazed out of the blocks. He believed led the field. -- he really

:04:47. > :04:51.led the field but look at Leicester Carter. -- Nesta Carter. He has

:04:51. > :04:59.already grabbed the lead and is working himself to the end. He eases

:04:59. > :05:03.his way through. 9.9. We wanted that to be James. In the heats, James was

:05:03. > :05:08.looking at the clock. In this one, he is very focused on where he is

:05:08. > :05:12.at. He is running a good race. And he suddenly sees Carter on the other

:05:12. > :05:17.side. Watch him look across. He starts to think, where you come

:05:17. > :05:22.from? He was there all the time, really. You cannot be disappointed.

:05:22. > :05:28.I think he would have loved to have won this race. He looks across and

:05:29. > :05:38.sees Carter. It is Carter that gets it in 9.99. James Dasaolu was so

:05:38. > :05:44.close. 10.03. Kim Collins in the mix at 10.06, third place. James

:05:44. > :05:50.at 10.06, third place. James Ellington with a PB.

:05:50. > :05:56.Nesta Carter, the winner, and James, a fine second place, with me. It

:05:57. > :06:03.shows you the strength and depth in Jamaica. First of all, I have to

:06:04. > :06:10.thank God. I have been working on new staff. I must thank the crowd

:06:10. > :06:15.for coming and supporting us. In Jamaica, we have great cultures. We

:06:15. > :06:20.are performing very well. We will see you at the worlds, but in the

:06:20. > :06:25.relay? Yes, I will be running the relay. I will be there, doing my

:06:25. > :06:31.part. You have shown us your calibre. Well done today. They

:06:32. > :06:36.differ having me. James is on the other side of me. -- thank you for

:06:36. > :06:41.having me. Two PBs in one day. You can complain. That is what I came to

:06:41. > :06:47.do. When we spoke after the heat, we knew you would get closer to sub

:06:47. > :06:51.ten. Just a matter of time?It is a matter of time. I'm going out there

:06:51. > :06:55.and enjoying competing. I want to bring -- I want to win every race.

:06:55. > :06:59.Is that your mentality, take care of the race, and the time will take

:06:59. > :07:07.care of itself? That is what my coach tells me. Don't worry about

:07:07. > :07:16.times. Just focus on yourself. The times will come. I was happy with

:07:16. > :07:19.the heats. I think I got a better start in the final. I am very

:07:19. > :07:26.confident going forward. Fantastically here. Keep it going.

:07:27. > :07:32.It is a great joy to watch you. -- fantastic to hear.

:07:32. > :07:35.Well, a sell-out crowd in Birmingham, enjoying a great

:07:35. > :07:43.afternoon's athletics. Plenty to come with Mo Farah the big highlight

:07:43. > :07:53.come with Mo Farah the big highlight at the very end. The fourth round of

:07:53. > :07:59.the men's long jump. Alessandra Menkov, dominating the competition.

:07:59. > :08:03.-- Aleksandr Menkov. It is a lovely, simple technique. So smooth. The

:08:03. > :08:10.transition from running flat out, you can see the way his upper body

:08:10. > :08:15.stays upright. In contrast to the other runners. And that looks like

:08:15. > :08:24.an improvement to me for the ration. He acknowledges the crowd. He has

:08:24. > :08:30.seen it. And there we are. 8.27 metres. A big improvement from

:08:31. > :08:40.Menkov. That will take some catching. Erik

:08:41. > :08:43.

:08:43. > :08:47.Kynard, his third and final attempt. He is clear. He looked very good at

:08:47. > :08:54.31. Not quite so good at 34. But he got it together when it mattered the

:08:54. > :08:58.most. You often see this with the last attempt in the high jump. That

:08:58. > :09:03.is what Robbie Grabarz has to do. I tell you what, knew was not far away

:09:03. > :09:09.but he will take great encouragement from his performance here. -- it was

:09:09. > :09:15.not too far away. Building towards Moscow. Bondarenko, he has been

:09:15. > :09:25.supreme so far. He could jump 2.4 metres today. That is brilliant. So

:09:25. > :09:25.

:09:25. > :09:30.easy. His second personal best and a meeting record. Just stunning.

:09:30. > :09:40.the final of the men's 110 metres hurdles. No British involvement. But

:09:40. > :09:42.

:09:42. > :09:47.the finest sprinter is here, Aries Merritt. Pascal Martinot-Lagarde of

:09:47. > :09:54.France as well in lane seven. Looking very good. The weather looks

:09:54. > :10:04.very good as well. Near enough perfect. Barry Nugent on the inside.

:10:04. > :10:08.

:10:08. > :10:12.The former US collegiate champion. 13.48, his season's best. McGann

:10:12. > :10:22.Osaghae, the US indoor champion from a couple of years ago. -- Omoghan

:10:22. > :10:26.

:10:26. > :10:32.Osaghae. Ryan Brathwaite, 13.23 in the heats. The same time that this

:10:32. > :10:40.man had, Aries Merritt. He has had hamstring problems and he did not

:10:40. > :10:43.finish in Shanghai. Not quite at his vintage best. But even now, his

:10:43. > :10:52.second-best might be good enough. David Payne of the United States,

:10:52. > :11:02.the oldest and shortest in the field. Very, very quick. 13.42.

:11:02. > :11:08.

:11:09. > :11:16.Pascal Martinot-Lagarde, with a very easy style. Looking comfortable. The

:11:16. > :11:26.Hungarian champion, Balazs Baji, just outside 13.4 in the heats. And

:11:26. > :11:45.

:11:45. > :11:48.on the outside, Abdul milker -- Artur Noga of Poland. Aries Merritt,

:11:48. > :11:56.not in the form he has been hitting last year. Under pressure from Ryan

:11:56. > :12:06.Brathwaite. Barry Nugent is not happy with his box. -- Barrett

:12:06. > :12:11.

:12:11. > :12:21.Nugent. He will adjust. It is a good process, measuring your blocks.

:12:21. > :12:51.

:12:51. > :13:01.Using his feet. It is a standard holder. He has taken gold eight

:13:01. > :13:36.

:13:36. > :13:41.in lane eight? It might have been Barrett Nugent, nearest to us.

:13:41. > :13:45.Looking on the computer, it is David Payne. Rutherford, the fifth round

:13:45. > :13:55.of the long jump. Right on cue. Waiting for the hundred and ten

:13:55. > :14:05.metres hurdles. Can you respond to Menkov's 8.27 metres? 8.11 metres

:14:05. > :14:12.

:14:12. > :14:17.his best. He is motoring. But again, false start. David Payne has been

:14:17. > :14:27.given the red card. That is a big threat to Aries Merritt, and the man

:14:27. > :14:30.

:14:30. > :14:33.alongside him. More room to breathe. David Payne, the all are big

:14:33. > :14:43.silver-medallist in 2008. -- the Olympic silver-medallist. He will

:14:43. > :14:43.

:14:43. > :14:53.not be challenging. Aries Merritt with a bit of elbow room. And a

:14:53. > :15:23.

:15:23. > :15:26.there, driving on. Aries Merritt has some ground to make up. Ryan

:15:26. > :15:36.Brathwaite is out in front and he will not be caught. For the line.

:15:36. > :15:36.

:15:36. > :15:40.Aries Merritt second. Martinot-Lagarde in third. The time

:15:40. > :15:46.does not count, because there was wind behind. The victory belongs to

:15:46. > :15:50.Ryan Brathwaite. Aries Merritt led from the start but could not get

:15:50. > :15:55.back at him. When you get out of that groove, out of that rhythm, it

:15:55. > :16:01.is difficult to get it back. remember last year Aries Merritt was

:16:01. > :16:07.running around 13 seconds. He did not get into the 12s on a consistent

:16:07. > :16:11.basis. But this year, because of his injury, he has not been able to get

:16:11. > :16:17.into that condition. Even in training, he has found it difficult.

:16:17. > :16:22.There is a lot of change needed to get into that level. This year, he

:16:22. > :16:25.is struggling with his hamstring. He has not been able to get to that

:16:25. > :16:35.speed we are used to. He is hitting hurdles left, right and centre but

:16:35. > :16:37.

:16:37. > :16:40.in contrast, the buyer delete Mac -- Ryan Brathwaite is smooth. Enjoying

:16:40. > :16:45.the victory. The wind picked up behind them, so not officially a

:16:45. > :16:48.season is best but 13.13 four Ryan Brathwaite. He was out so quickly.

:16:48. > :16:54.And Aries Merritt is not the Aries Merritt of recent seasons. That

:16:54. > :16:58.hamstring problem is clearly still causing him some issues. I wonder if

:16:58. > :17:08.he will be back to his best by the world Championships? Ryan Brathwaite

:17:08. > :17:19.

:17:19. > :17:23.Thanks to my coach and team mates, I am just trying to get back to the

:17:23. > :17:29.top. Slowly but surely, there is still more work to put in. You are

:17:29. > :17:33.top of the world in 2009, created history for Barbados by taking the

:17:33. > :17:39.world medal. Your event has a lot of strength and depth, do you did

:17:39. > :17:44.you can do it again? I cannot predict stuff. All we got to do is

:17:44. > :17:54.work hard, trying to keep it strong. Show the world who I am. Keep up

:17:54. > :18:12.

:18:12. > :18:18.like that and I am sure you will do Thorkildsen, second round of the

:18:18. > :18:23.javelin, a poor first effort. If he could throw as well as he threw in

:18:23. > :18:28.warm-up earlier, this javelin would fly. It is a little better, over 80

:18:28. > :18:33.metres. That takes the lead. Are very disappointed with his

:18:33. > :18:38.performance, disappointment -- he was very disappointed with his

:18:38. > :18:41.performance last the week. 4th place. A whole of the Norwegian

:18:41. > :18:45.team were a little bit jaded, they were weighed down in the points.

:18:45. > :18:50.They were relegated from the essentially premier division of

:18:51. > :19:00.European athletics. A much better effort, he takes the lead, 18 B --

:19:01. > :19:18.

:19:18. > :19:26.bit, he is moving up. We have not had that the expected big throw of

:19:29. > :19:35.the Diamond League leader at the moment. But for some strange reason,

:23:38. > :23:44.metres. If anybody can stay with Abeba Aregawi, they have done very

:23:44. > :23:51.well. Nancy Langat, the Kenyan, will do their best. The British

:23:51. > :23:55.athletes have to judge their own race here. Renata Plis is a good

:24:34. > :24:44.top women have got the A standard already but they will want to get a

:24:44. > :24:52.good time here. The two it main threats to Abeba Aregawi off lanky

:24:58. > :25:07.target at the moment. -- they are flanking her. It is pretty crowded

:25:07. > :25:13.there. Morgan Uceny, she previously fell, she felt at the Olympics as

:25:13. > :25:20.well. She felt right in front of Abeba Aregawi weed, which might

:25:20. > :25:23.have affected that. I can see that Abeba Aregawi is not interested

:25:23. > :25:27.today, so they aren't starting to slow down. It is going to be a real

:25:27. > :25:30.race. -- they are starting to slow down. They are starting to jostle

:25:31. > :25:36.and push opposition and someone has to take this on, that second lap

:25:36. > :25:43.was really slow. They are going to begin to panic, saying, we was the

:25:43. > :25:47.posts to be running really hard. -- we were supposed to be running hard.

:25:47. > :25:55.You can see there is a lot of indecision in the field. You can

:25:55. > :26:00.see there is some elbow usage. Abeba Aregawi is now getting out of

:26:00. > :26:04.trouble, get into the front. This is not how this race was supposed

:26:04. > :26:11.to unfold. She has not been feeling too well. A pacemaker has dropped

:26:11. > :26:14.out. It became a little bit cluttered. Abeba Aregawi is not

:26:14. > :26:23.taking it on, she is just getting out in front so she has not boxed

:26:23. > :26:27.in or battered about. We had a race on our hands here. Laura Weightman,

:26:27. > :26:35.she used that to get into a good position. Lisa Dobriskey is not in

:26:35. > :26:42.a bad place. Hannah England at the back. Hannah England has some

:26:42. > :26:47.ground to make up. Does Abeba Aregawi have something left?

:26:47. > :26:54.Yekaterina Sharmina is with her. The British challengers are being

:26:54. > :26:59.left. Now of Yekaterina Sharmina hits the front, she has not made a

:26:59. > :27:08.decisive kick yet. Abeba Aregawi is hanging in. Laura Weightman is

:27:08. > :27:12.there as well. Laura Weightman is digging in, trying to hold on. Now

:27:12. > :27:18.Abed array Gary comes up again, she has something left. A battle for

:27:18. > :27:27.second between the Russian and the Kenyan, but it is Abeba Aregawi

:27:27. > :27:30.comes to take the victory. A slower time than expected, perhaps. But

:27:30. > :27:40.she can celebrate. Laura Weightman was the best of the Brits coming

:27:40. > :27:40.

:27:40. > :27:45.through. 4th place for Laura Weightman, 4.06. The winner, Abeba

:27:45. > :27:51.Aregawi we, not as quick as we had hoped for. A deserved victory on

:27:51. > :27:57.the left -- none the less because she had plenty of time left for the

:27:57. > :28:03.sprint finish. She can win anyway she once. For the British women, it

:28:03. > :28:08.is a case of trying to give themselves a chats. -- a chance.

:28:08. > :28:13.Laura Weightman was the best of the British athletes. These three

:28:13. > :28:18.pushing away, the Russian was very impressive last week. Once she had

:28:18. > :28:24.got over the shock of being beaten by Jessica Judd in the 100. I do

:28:24. > :28:29.not think that Abeba Aregawi was 100% this week. A good exercise for

:28:29. > :28:33.her. We do not have pacemakers in the wild cabbage at final. Using

:28:33. > :28:42.his opportunity to -- in the world championships final. So she used

:28:42. > :28:52.this opportunity to check her speed. Those three, a good, strong last-

:28:52. > :28:56.lap, really impressive. There was a big personal best for Laura Muir in

:28:56. > :29:06.a place. Knocking to on a half, three seconds off her best. We will

:29:06. > :29:07.

:29:07. > :29:17.do that and the minute. -- we will look at that in a minute. The usual

:29:17. > :29:26.

:29:26. > :29:35.the next page, we will be able to see Laura Muir, she was 4.07, 76, a

:29:35. > :29:38.A glorious afternoon continues here, the athletics is coming thick and

:29:38. > :29:48.fast. Let's take stock a little and remind you of some of the best we

:29:48. > :30:29.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 55 seconds

:30:29. > :30:35.All that and we have still got Mo Farah to come! Colin Jackson has

:30:35. > :30:39.walked down from the studio. What has been the highlight? Sensational

:30:39. > :30:43.today. I thought I would come and fly the flag for the British men,

:30:43. > :30:53.because the women are doing so well. So many victories. It has been

:30:53. > :30:58.outstanding. Jessica Judd, Eilidh Child got a personal best, Perri

:30:58. > :31:05.Shakes-Drayton, Christine Ohuruogu. We have seen some strong

:31:05. > :31:08.performances. A week won by Dai Greene, but Rees Williams, he has

:31:08. > :31:14.come to see in the sprinting -- he has had a good performance, the

:31:14. > :31:17.men's sprinting is coming up. has covered everything. I thought I

:32:26. > :32:34.

:32:34. > :32:39.Mohammed Aman, the Ethiopian. Although Jeremiah Mutai to give him

:32:39. > :32:46.a run for his money. And there is Mukhtar Mohammed. Quite a good

:33:19. > :33:26.Sowinski, the US indoor champion. And there is Jeremiah Tip Curry --

:33:26. > :33:31.Jeremiah Kipkorir Mutai. He did give him a good race of years in good

:33:31. > :33:41.form. And there is Mohammed Aman, very dominant in the absence of the

:33:41. > :33:41.

:33:41. > :33:51.champion struggling with a knee injury. Only 19. Andre Osaghae,

:34:22. > :34:27.

:34:27. > :34:35.And Gareth Warburton. -- Scherer. What can Osagie do here? The pace is

:34:35. > :34:45.designed for a finish of one minute and 43 seconds. The a standard for

:34:45. > :34:54.

:34:54. > :35:00.British athletes is one minute 45.3. Osagie looking back at the moment,

:35:00. > :35:05.trying to ease his way through. think Mohammed Aman has been

:35:05. > :35:11.dominant recently. He is spot on with the pacemaker. They have

:35:11. > :35:21.slotted in behind him. I would like to see Olivier or Osagie trying to

:35:21. > :35:27.get ahead. Again 50 seconds, that is what is required. Have to try and

:35:27. > :35:35.get ahead of Mohammed Aman to unsettle them. The pacemaker will

:35:35. > :35:37.drop out now, setting a decent pace. Osagie is moving through and the big

:35:37. > :35:45.South African sitting on the shoulder of Mohammed Aman. Trying to

:35:45. > :35:55.force his way through. Olivier leaving a gap. Loot I could try to

:35:55. > :35:57.

:35:57. > :36:00.exploit that. -- Mutai. But Mohammed Aman is still out in front. Andre

:36:00. > :36:08.Olivier trying to make a move. Jeremiah Kipkorir Mutai making a

:36:08. > :36:18.move. Mohammed Aman is holding off and he will hold for the victory.

:36:18. > :36:21.

:36:21. > :36:31.The victory one minute and 45.194 Mohammed Aman. -- one minute and

:36:31. > :36:37.45.19 four Mohammed Aman. That is what he has been doing all year. You

:36:37. > :36:40.have either got to take the risk of getting ahead of them, because he is

:36:40. > :36:50.strong to get in front of. But if they keep letting him dominate, this

:36:50. > :36:53.

:36:53. > :36:56.will keep happening. They do not have the other pacemaker, so it

:36:56. > :37:00.would be interesting. I thought that was much better. I know he has not

:37:00. > :37:07.been feeling well this week. He has been suffering from hayfever. That

:37:07. > :37:11.is a good performance. He was strong in the homes straight. -- on

:37:11. > :37:17.straight. At this point, I thought that Mohammed Aman might crack and

:37:17. > :37:22.not be able to hold them off. But he is very strong. And he has just got

:37:22. > :37:28.that speed. You cannot chip away at it. He just stays out there,

:37:28. > :37:35.focused. Look at Andrew, trying to get there. Just fading at the end.

:37:35. > :37:45.The last 30 metres, really good from all Mohammed Aman. Once again, the

:37:45. > :37:47.

:37:47. > :37:57.script he likes to follow. He has come out again. Osagie is beginning

:37:57. > :38:03.

:38:03. > :38:06.to run out of time. Since he won in 2011, this title has

:38:06. > :38:11.dried up a little bit. But look at that. It looks as though he has

:38:11. > :38:15.taken the lead. And that has come in the fifth round. We have had to wait

:38:15. > :38:24.a long time for a clear distance between the 80-metre line and the

:38:24. > :38:33.javelin landing beyond. But Thorkildsen, 84 metres this year.

:38:33. > :38:40.Compared with 87.65. 83.94. Andreas Thorkildsen is in the lead. Dmitriy

:38:40. > :38:47.Tarabin of Russia, he really set the stadium alight in the first round.

:38:47. > :38:57.We had to wait a little longer now. Dmitriy Tarabin, over 80 metres in

:39:03. > :39:08.In Gateshead, he went to 85.99 metres in terrible conditions. But

:39:08. > :39:17.he was really up for that one. That is not going to challenge

:39:17. > :39:25.Thorkildsen. What has he got? Yes, he has gone into second place.

:39:25. > :39:31.83.03. Well done. To bring you up-to-date with the

:39:31. > :39:34.long jump, which finished a while ago. Aleksandr Menkov winning with

:39:45. > :39:51.could not quite win today but we are hoping that another one can. Mo

:39:51. > :39:58.Farah, in a very tough men's 5000 metres. It will be the highlight of

:39:58. > :40:08.the afternoon. This is his stage. This is his crowd. He looks relaxed.

:40:08. > :40:11.

:40:11. > :40:21.Mo Farah is going for it! It is going to be a glorious, glorious

:40:21. > :40:30.

:40:30. > :40:33.when! Mo Farah makes its two gold This may well be his toughest 5000

:40:33. > :40:39.metres since that Olympic final. He has had one defeat already this year

:40:39. > :40:49.that this is an even harder fields to beat, in my view. Chris Thompson

:40:49. > :40:50.

:40:50. > :41:00.and Tom Farrell, good to see him running. The names on this second

:41:03. > :41:11.page, some of the biggest dangers. And Jeilan, who beat Mo Farah in the

:41:11. > :41:19.10,000 metres. Mo Farah has been incredibly relaxed this week. He has

:41:19. > :41:26.been at Wimbledon, and Buckingham Palace. And you see what the crowd

:41:26. > :41:33.thinks of their opportunity to see. -- see him, we hope, build on that

:41:33. > :41:38.last lap last week. He was out that in the 10,000 metres when he got it

:41:38. > :41:44.wrong because of his timing. Abraham J Lamb missed last year but he is

:41:44. > :41:54.back this year. -- Jeilan. And the world junior record holder in this

:41:54. > :41:55.

:41:55. > :42:05.event. 12.55 this year. He ran 12.47 last year. Kipsiro, the Commonwealth

:42:05. > :42:06.

:42:06. > :42:16.champion. And then Alamirew, coming back into the sort of form that he

:42:16. > :42:19.

:42:19. > :42:29.showed at the beginning of 2011. Demelash As well, great challenge --

:42:29. > :42:31.

:42:31. > :42:41.talent. Birmingham, won the 1500 metres opening a new track last

:42:41. > :42:43.

:42:43. > :42:47.weekend. And Chris Thompson, try to get to Moscow. Tom Farrell, who had

:42:47. > :42:57.a big year last year but did not manage to get to run in the

:42:57. > :43:03.

:43:03. > :43:10.will be cheers for most of the next 30 minutes or so. Chatting to Mo

:43:10. > :43:20.Farah this morning, he was his usual laid-back self. Really looking

:43:20. > :43:20.

:43:20. > :43:22.forward to this. Of course, over this last week or so, he flew into

:43:22. > :43:27.Gateshead and that last lap reverberated around the distance

:43:27. > :43:32.world. He did look like an 800-metre runner or a 1500 metre runner,

:43:32. > :43:35.kicking so hard. And that is what these guys have to work out how to

:43:35. > :43:39.do. They have to work out, the normal Farrar and they know that

:43:40. > :43:43.when he is in shape, you can run good times, but they know that what

:43:43. > :43:48.he is best that is finishing a race better than anyone else, so what can

:43:48. > :43:54.we do to mess up? Look at what he's doing, he is controlling this. The

:43:54. > :44:00.pacemakers are at the back. Mo Farah is thinking, follow them if you want

:44:00. > :44:04.to but I am not bothered, I have come here to win this. They have

:44:04. > :44:10.seen Mo Farah lose before. They are so used to seeing him winning. He

:44:10. > :44:18.had an almost comical start to his final 400 metres, but this is a very

:44:18. > :44:25.different prospect. The pace is supposed to take it out of them. The

:44:25. > :44:35.calibre of the athlete in here, Mo Farah is not going to be able to

:44:35. > :44:36.

:44:36. > :44:40.both them around. It is becoming strong out. The people he is most

:44:40. > :44:50.worried about are behind him. He has had a look to see who has gone past

:44:50. > :44:50.

:44:50. > :45:00.them. His main contenders are running behind Mo Farah. He will be

:45:00. > :45:01.

:45:01. > :45:08.happy with the solid pace. He will be leaving it up to the others to

:45:08. > :45:18.decide what to do once the pacemakers go. The top two are out

:45:18. > :45:20.

:45:20. > :45:30.there, and their job is to take it to 3000 metres. At 4000 metres,

:45:30. > :45:31.

:45:31. > :45:37.often these races tail off. Nine times out of ten, it stripped back

:45:37. > :45:47.to the best in the world, and that is Mo Farah. Gathimba, happy at the

:45:47. > :46:06.

:46:06. > :46:09.to overcome addition, it has come in the last round. Sweden and

:46:10. > :46:15.Finland used to be the dominant nations in travel and throwing.

:46:15. > :46:21.With the exception of one, they have gone off the boil in recent

:46:21. > :46:26.years. But this guy is bringing back some respectability to a

:46:26. > :46:36.Swedish javelin throwing. He finished 4th in the Oslo Diamond

:46:36. > :46:36.

:46:36. > :46:40.League, he is in 4th place. The Finnish athlete, European bronze

:46:40. > :46:50.mirrors -- medallists, a big strong fellow, has the Lords this one? Yes,

:46:50. > :46:50.

:46:51. > :47:00.he has. He is going to get his best ever Diamond League result, I think.

:47:01. > :47:02.

:47:03. > :47:12.Fantastic stroke. 83 metres 26, he has leapt up the leaderboard. He is

:47:13. > :47:13.

:47:13. > :47:19.in second place. A good result for him.

:47:19. > :47:22.Well, Mo Farah is controlling this race without really doing anything.

:47:22. > :47:32.He is 4th in that pack, they are now four seconds behind the

:47:32. > :47:34.

:47:34. > :47:40.pacemakers. Mike Kigen, a bit of a mate of Mo Farah's, is in that. He

:47:40. > :47:48.will not last though. Chepkok is leading the next group, he has won

:47:48. > :47:56.here before. He has finished second to Gebrhiwet, in a horrible

:47:57. > :48:02.conditions in New York in May. Gebrhiwet, Alamirew, Jeilan, the

:48:02. > :48:05.three Ethiopians, are just watching Mo Farah's back. They are going to

:48:05. > :48:10.test themselves, they have got to have a plan which does not have of

:48:10. > :48:13.the last 400 metres. It will be interesting to see whether they

:48:13. > :48:20.starts to lay that pan out, they might start to push on with three

:48:20. > :48:24.or four laps to go. A lot of these characters will be here in the West

:48:24. > :48:33.-- world championships, this is almost a dry run for team tactics

:48:33. > :48:43.Colour Scene what to do, because Mo Farah is the hunted man. He is in

:48:43. > :48:47.good condition, but so it is Gebrhiwet and Alamirew and Chepkok.

:48:47. > :48:57.And Yigrem Demelash. They are not too interested in the pacemaker,

:48:57. > :48:57.

:48:57. > :49:01.now doing that last lap in 65 seconds. Again, Farah just sitting

:49:02. > :49:07.in there, alongside Jeilan. They all just having a look at each

:49:07. > :49:11.other. I think Mo Farah is feeling pretty comfortable at the moment.

:49:11. > :49:17.This is slowed by their standards, slowed by the sort of shape that Mo

:49:17. > :49:21.Farah is in. And indeed, Gebrhiwet. Jeilan is coming into some good

:49:21. > :49:27.shape. The Ethiopians are getting into their team. Likud Collis

:49:27. > :49:35.Birmingham, he is thinking, come on, guys, I thought we were having a

:49:35. > :49:45.big race! Chepkok has decided to kick a little bit. It just ran away

:49:45. > :49:46.

:49:46. > :49:51.from him in New York. The ones who would think about winning this race,

:49:51. > :49:56.they would have a plan, maybe work towards Moscow, a way of beating

:49:56. > :50:01.the Olympic champion, but his 67th lap. I am not sure this is the plan

:50:01. > :50:11.that I would like to hear on file. The longer this pace settles nicely,

:50:11. > :50:14.

:50:14. > :50:20.the more it plays into Mo Farah's hands. Mo Farah did 400 metres at

:50:20. > :50:26.the end of 400600 metres which was just warming up, in Gateshead. He

:50:26. > :50:32.could steer a 52 second lap at the end of this. The world order is

:50:32. > :50:35.jaded from East Africa, we have got these youngsters coming through,

:50:35. > :50:45.Alamirew and Gebrhiwet, it is time to see if they can challenge the

:50:45. > :50:46.

:50:46. > :50:53.new king of Mo Farah. Mo Farah, for the first time, he is moving with

:50:53. > :50:57.five laps to go. 2000 metres. Every time he news, they go, here we go.

:50:57. > :51:01.He is not going to do anything here which has not going -- which is

:51:01. > :51:07.going to move the pace on. He loves this sort of race, why does he

:51:07. > :51:12.wants to run this time of year at a hard place? He just wants to win.

:51:12. > :51:15.He is off to San Moritz to do some training after this. Continue his

:51:15. > :51:20.preparations. He would love to go for another confidence-boosting win.

:51:20. > :51:30.That is what the crowd would love to do. -- the crowd would love to

:51:30. > :51:30.

:51:30. > :51:34.see. There he is, Jeilan is tucked into that group, Farah running

:51:34. > :51:39.nicely at the front, and nice easy pace. That is why the whole field

:51:39. > :51:43.is there. Someone must believe that they have got some kick to offer,

:51:43. > :51:47.why we do not try something else? Jeilan is just beginning to ease

:51:47. > :51:53.his way out the outside. Everyone is just sits there, grandmothers

:51:53. > :51:58.footstep's style, behind Mo Farah. When he slows of a slow, when he

:51:58. > :52:04.speed-up, they speed up. They are hanging behind him but he has a

:52:04. > :52:10.devastating finish. Four laps to go. This is the first time we have seen

:52:11. > :52:14.someone coming up. He is just going up to his shoulder. Whoever comes

:52:14. > :52:19.to the outside, he picks it up a little bit, if they do not push on,

:52:19. > :52:25.they slowed down again. That is what he has done. Jeilan is there

:52:25. > :52:30.now, thought something was starting, it is not. Alamirew in first --

:52:30. > :52:34.third place, everyone else has just still sitting there. Mo Farah is

:52:34. > :52:38.very clever at this. A little stumble in the pack. Until someone

:52:38. > :52:45.puts their foot down, there is a lot of pushing and shoving. It is

:52:45. > :52:50.because they are all waiting. That was Arne Gabius to got pushed off.

:52:50. > :52:55.This is where someone has got to attack. Three laps to go, someone

:52:55. > :52:59.has got to attack Mo Farah and not attack the last 600. We watch

:52:59. > :53:07.deceive him do that but surely, some coach has said, go on, have

:53:07. > :53:13.ago. Now Gebrhiwet having a go for the first time, Mo Farah does not

:53:13. > :53:18.look troubled. They are so bunched. They come round so, three laps to

:53:18. > :53:22.go. The page has drops down to 70 seconds. A little bit of a

:53:22. > :53:28.steadying hand from Mo Farah. was just saying, look, hang on a

:53:28. > :53:35.minute, they just come down and run slowly in front of me. -- bench

:53:35. > :53:41.just come down and run so in front of me. -- do not just come down. He

:53:41. > :53:48.was to be exactly where he is. You do not to give up control of this..

:53:48. > :53:51.1000 metres to go. Two and a half laps, this is going to be a burner.

:53:51. > :53:55.A test of speed. If any of them have got more speed than Mo Farah

:53:55. > :54:01.showed in Gateshead last week, good luck to them. I wonder if someone

:54:01. > :54:07.like Jeilan thinks he can out kick Mo Farah, that was back in 2011,

:54:07. > :54:11.that was a lifetime ago. Now it is changing. It is Chris Thompson, Mo

:54:11. > :54:17.Farah's Powell, he thinks, come on, let's give it a bit of a go. Isn't

:54:17. > :54:25.that crazy? The other but gives it a go. -- the other Briton gives it

:54:25. > :54:29.a go. We have got Collis Birmingham on the outside, Alamirew, Jeilan

:54:29. > :54:34.has gone out to the back door pretty quickly. Look at Chris

:54:34. > :54:40.Thompson. Mo Farah knows he can cast -- Crest -- catch Chris but

:54:40. > :54:44.see is not even trying. This is Gebrhiwet being tested. He wants to

:54:44. > :54:48.move out, have a good position to be able to attack and try to mess

:54:48. > :54:51.Mo Farah up for the first time. They go around Chris Thompson. This

:54:51. > :55:01.will be different because Mo Farah likes to be on the inside.

:55:01. > :55:05.Surrounded by a Gebrhiwet, Alamirew on the inside. -- outside. Jeilan

:55:05. > :55:10.adrift. Mo Farah for the second time tries to take the lead and

:55:10. > :55:15.again Gebrhiwet holds enough. Once more, Mo Farah, he wants to be in

:55:15. > :55:20.front on the bell but Gebrhiwet will not given up. Three are

:55:20. > :55:26.starting to pull away. These other two dangers, these other youngsters

:55:26. > :55:29.who think they can take on Mo Farah, the world champion. Gebrhiwet in

:55:29. > :55:34.the inside, holding its, the world junior record-holder, the Olympic

:55:34. > :55:37.champion on his shoulder. Alamirew tried to stay with them on the back

:55:37. > :55:41.straight. Big ears are started to be shifting through. Mo Farah does

:55:41. > :55:46.not want to let Alamirew come on the outside. Mo Farah takes the

:55:46. > :55:50.initiative. Am now he must have the front. He has not been able to come

:55:50. > :55:54.across Gebrhiwet yet, and Alamirew right on his shoulder. This is

:55:54. > :56:00.going to go all the way to the wire. Mo Farah has got to be cheered on

:56:00. > :56:07.by the crowd. Alamirew looks at him and Mo Farah goes again. You are

:56:07. > :56:17.not enter take me on at a home crowd cost much, look at this! A

:56:17. > :56:20.

:56:20. > :56:24.brilliant last lap, 53.4. Touche! You cannot take him on. You cannot

:56:24. > :56:30.take him on the last 600 metres. If they did not know that already,

:56:30. > :56:33.goodness me, but they know it now. They have got to find a different

:56:34. > :56:39.way to beat him. They were good, they really were a good, they

:56:39. > :56:44.pushed hard. And Farah had two big beat, had to find every ounce of

:56:44. > :56:52.speed and strength and endurance he could muster up -- he had to dig

:56:52. > :56:56.deep. 25.8 for the last 200 metres. That is quick, really, really quick.

:56:57. > :57:00.And he knows he was in a race there. But he did what he had to do. This

:57:00. > :57:04.is really interesting. He could not get where he wanted to become a he

:57:04. > :57:11.did not panic. Gebrhiwet did everything he could still hold him

:57:11. > :57:14.up. A race that more than held up to its billing. The last two laps,

:57:14. > :57:19.Gebrhiwet, we thought he might have been the main threat. But a

:57:19. > :57:26.tremendous effort from Alamirew. I am looking forward to the rematch

:57:26. > :57:31.in Moscow. Because Alamirew showed tremendous speed. Just under 26

:57:32. > :57:36.seconds, the last 200. This was serious stuff. It was a comedy

:57:36. > :57:43.final lap in Gateshead in Mo Farah's case, this shows us that he

:57:43. > :57:47.is still a man to beat. I love a little look across as if to say,

:57:47. > :57:55.you are kidding me! We are flat out here. He got that little extra

:57:55. > :57:59.surge with 70 to go. He won by about half a second in the end. No

:57:59. > :58:04.one has finished races as well as he does. Nobody does this better

:58:04. > :58:14.than Mo Farah. If he continues keeping himself in good shape and

:58:14. > :58:15.

:58:15. > :58:19.keeps the speed, then, of course, What the performers, you brought

:58:19. > :58:23.the roof down again. These young pretender and stash pretend as one

:58:23. > :58:29.to take the throne and you're not going to have it. I am the man to

:58:29. > :58:32.beat, I know. I had to begin deep, the pace was slow. The conditions

:58:32. > :58:37.were not great, really windy. It is important to come out and win the

:58:37. > :58:41.race. Tactically, you seemed to be in control throughout, even though

:58:41. > :58:45.you were shoved from the inside to be out. The guys were working as a

:58:45. > :58:49.team, they try to work as a team for sure. You have got so hold your

:58:49. > :58:54.form and make sure you have something left. You seem to be in

:58:54. > :58:59.great form, we saw you lose but we are now seeing you bang on form,

:58:59. > :59:02.what can we look forward to? I am training hard, it is all about the

:59:02. > :59:07.World Championship. It is about just training, I am off to San

:59:07. > :59:12.Moritz tomorrow, it should be great. Altitude training and their more

:59:12. > :59:16.highs heavily in Moscow. It is on to say good luck to Andy Murray and

:59:16. > :59:21.Laura Robson, you do -- I have got really have got to the tennis, so

:59:21. > :59:26.it is great, I am looking forward to it going to the high after -- a

:59:26. > :59:31.to cheat and watching and catching up. What an incredible climax to

:59:31. > :59:35.what has been a brilliant afternoon. It has been outstanding. And he

:59:35. > :59:40.really had a competitive race. He ran the race that we wanted to see.

:59:40. > :59:43.Sometimes we do not want to see him go out heavily into the lead, and

:59:43. > :59:47.you want to leave it to the edge of your seat, that was a brilliant

:59:47. > :59:51.victory. Having those different styles of races, psychologically is

:59:51. > :59:55.important. Performance of the day, where has it comes from? It has got

:59:55. > :00:01.to be Jessica Judd and the women's 800 metres. A new personal best,

:00:01. > :00:05.qualification for Moscow, job done, fantastic. Jessica Judd is just a

:00:05. > :00:08.name the troops going -- which we are going to hear from time. I am

:00:09. > :00:12.looking forward to seeing her at the trials. He it has been a

:00:12. > :00:16.fantastic afternoon, if we get conditions like this at the world

:00:16. > :00:20.challenger trials, we will be happy in two weeks. In terms of Great

:00:20. > :00:28.Britain, reasons to be cheerful? Christine Ohuruogu's win was 400

:00:28. > :00:34.metres outstanding, beating the opponents was very difficult.

:00:34. > :00:37.always, we have enjoyed a company this afternoon. We as an impressive

:00:37. > :00:44.and almost -- performances from the women, Christine Ohuruogu, Perri

:00:44. > :00:48.Shakes-Drayton to, Jessica Judd. We have got more athletics, next

:00:48. > :00:51.Thursday and more on next Saturday. In two weeks we are back for the
